Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 45 Production Blog Translation
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this page
Looking at the Next Episode
Shoma has gone to the Granute realm with Nyelv…! What will happen in the next episode?! Episode 46 is another Sugihara episode. Episodes 44-46 were all done by him.
The white room in the Presidential residence has appeared since the Morota arc in episodes 29 and 30, but Director Sugihara was the one who built the plan for these new assets (CG backgrounds). Entering from the door, overlooking from above, and the appearance of the Presidential residence were all situations kept in mind while designing it. It took a while to make, so we should use these assets to the furthest extent… That was the behind-the-scenes theme for episode 46. To be honest, I can’t say that the live composition was very compatible with the furiously-moving action. Live composition requires you to take positions with markers while filming with a green screen, and the footage is completed in real time… (Can you imagine how difficult it is?) But this is Director Sugihara and Action Director Fujita! Their action will be even better than before. I hope you look forward to it! Don’t miss it!
And the summer movie “Kamen Rider Gavv: The Invader of the House of Sweets”, which premiered on July 25th, is currently a big hit in theaters thanks to you! Thank you very much. “Gavv’s” summer movie is not set in between any two particular episodes. However, it does have some continuity with the TV series. You can only experience this now, so please do so. The next episode will already broadcast in August. Please enjoy “Gavv” until the very end.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 45!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The movie and TV series are both Sugihara works right in the middle of being delivered. With Director Sugihara, who has spent the most time with this cast, each story is moving towards the climax.
Nyelv in the Happy Parade
Even Nyelv’s actor Takizawa himself said, “It doesn’t suit me~” when he visited the Happy Parade and persuaded Shoma. He feels incredibly out-of-place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though this episode’s subtitle isn’t “The Approaching Spectacles”… (Laugh) He steadily drives Shoma into a wall with clever words. Nyelv has quite a sizable amount of lines here, but with the control that Takizawa has over his expression and voice, which the director team trusts in deeply, it’s far from boring and rather gradually pulls you in instead.
The next episode will also depict these pieces of him, but Nyelv’s feelings and many different attitudes were expressed in every line of his, and his motives and truths that we haven’t seen much of until now seem to slip in and out of view.
“You could do it this way, it’ll show up even if you don’t say it” and “You’re really exceeding my expectations”. With those words, the director gave instructions to a player who can already be called a director’s nightmare, and added a hand movement where he plays with a gummy and drops it.
Tumblr media
It shows that this is a big move to win over Shoma for his ambition to change the Granute world and Stomach family, using Shoma (Gavv), who is expressed by the gummy.
Nyelv’s character song, “The Formula”, was created when an episode around this point was being written, so his way of life of tenaciously surviving while constantly changing his position and figuring many things out, like “If this doesn’t work, I’ll try this next time…”, and his ambitions that he coolly hides away, are packed into the lyrics. If you listen to it again, especially after hearing him speak his mind this time, its meaning might change…? 🧪
Tumblr media
In the MV, he performs in a space that suits him overwhelmingly better than the Happy Parade, so please look forward to the Kamen Rider Gavv CD box and Blu-Ray.
By the way, this isn’t the first time that Takizawa has set foot in the Happy Parade. In the Blu-Ray collection’s bonus video, the Stomach family gathers in the Happy Parade and a strange game contest unfolds between both groups, so it’s a must-see for anyone who still hasn’t seen it.
Nyelv is good at negotiation. It seems like he was aware of the amount of Human Presses needed to completely win Shoma over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What will the future of the human world be!?
Rakia Speaks Out
Rakia is checking to see that the medicine that Dente left behind can neutralize his poison.
Tumblr media
Come to think of it, this place used to be a laboratory. It’s a great coincidence that it has Komagome pipettes.
In a previous Sugihara arc, specifically episode 35, Rakia showed that he doesn’t want Sachika to know about his time in the Stomach Company. In a following Sugihara arc, the time has finally come for Rakia to reveal the secret.
A beaker falling when Rakia tries to approach Sachika after changing into his human form, and Sachika being startled by that sound, was a direction choice that Director Sugihara added to depict the depth of Sachika’s inner feelings. She was frightened by Rakia approaching her… Having that come across like that takes sublime skill.
It seems like Rakia has been choked up by something Sachika said before. He looks small even though he’s 187 centimeters tall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sachika hasn’t sorted out her feelings, and Hanto isn’t sure who to support… This scene was full of changes for each of the three characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Walking in time with Sachika, wordlessly moving closer to her, and handing her a drink he bought… Hanto’s diligent movements chosen by the director make him a devoted man. By the way, I’m glad that Rakia seems to like the goldfish rocks a lot. (Laugh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sachika had been hesitant, but she sees how much Rakia has changed from that time and decides to support him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our CEO! Just as we’d expect. Please hire me! And next time, she has a chance meeting with a certain “former CEO”… It’s a bit worrying, but let’s fight!
A Fortune-Telling Hustler Crab
A welcome relief (?) from episode 45, which was filled with tense and careful portrayals of emotions, was a Granute disguised as a fortune-teller named “Te Sō” [TN: romanization pending, but it’s derived from 手相 “tesō”, which means “palm reading”].
…No, I’m not kidding! That really is his name. (Laugh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Seems like your wealth will grow…”? He has a bright lemon-yellow body.
Tumblr media
(And right after I wrote that, Shoma appears with a super yellow jacket…)
His human form’s actor, Tomonori Mizuno, spread ad-libs throughout his performance and including voice-overs, making for a hearty crab character. Hold on, why are the crab-like Granutes the only ones with such strong personalities? (Laugh) It’s been a little while since the last “guest monster” battle. The battle made full use of the signature Gavv flair.
Lizel is ladylike as ever. She grabs Shoma’s hand without looking, and destroys buildings while spectating!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her parasol is ridiculously powerful… She would consider the fang-like marks left in the remains to be “cute”. The interiors of the buildings were fairly damaged from that attack, and that makes you realize once again how unendingly scary she can be.
Lizel was filmed sitting on the edge of the building while taking safety precautions.
Tumblr media
It’s fairly tall when you look from above, and it seems like it was a memorable filming session for Kamata as well!
Tumblr media
“Ah, it seems like your fortune will increase if you go and see the Gavv movie…” We ask for your continued support of both the movie and the TV series!

Kamen Rider Zeztz Actor Announcement Translation
saw that this existed and apparently it has a bit of info in it so… here we go!
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this page
Breaking News! The Highly-Anticipated Protagonist of “Kamen Rider Zeztz” is… Ryutaro Imai!
“Kamen Rider Zeztz” has been a massive topic from the very second that information was revealed for it on July 6th (Sunday), where the shocking teaser movie and especially the first belt worn across the chest in Kamen Rider series history, the “Zeztz Driver” made a powerful impact. It instantly became a popular subject on SNS, and became the #1 worldwide trending topic. It is under the attention and expectations of the whole world.
For this occasion, the energetic actor Ryutaro Imai has been selected for the role of Baku Yorozu, the protagonist who transforms into Zeztz! This is Imai’s first lead role in a TV drama.
Dreams Come True on the Third Try! The Dynamic and Lively Actor, Ryutaro Imai!
At 181 centimeters tall, Imai is a young acting talent who has given enthusiastic performances in “GTO Revival” (2024, Fuji TV) and “Billion x School” (2024, Fuji TV), all while active as a regular model in the magazine “FINEBOYS”.
This work was his third audition for a Kamen Rider work. The third time truly was the charm for him to get the leading role spot. The character of Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz is still wrapped in mystery, but it is known that he is an agent who infiltrates the dreams of humans and carries out missions. He quickly switches between many different costumes that hide his identity while in a dream, and Imai will put his skills with wearing clothes fashionably and refining his appearance that he gained as a model on full display.
Showing Passionate Enthusiasm “for a Work that Encourages People with Dreams…”!
Imai declared his feelings about winning the Rider lead role he’d dreamed about with a clear smile, saying, “The first emotion I felt was incredible happiness! This was actually my third time auditioning for a Rider work. This time, I did the audition prepared to fail since it seemed like I had bad luck with Rider, so it made me really happy. Becoming a Rider has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and now it’s finally come true!”.
Regarding the “Zeztz Driver”, the first belt in series history to be worn across the chest, he revealed that even while he was surprised—“My first impression was ‘Huh, it goes across the chest…!’”—the innovative design makes his heart pound, and that “I’m happy that this is my ‘first time’, and I’d like to create a new hero that makes you think, ‘This new belt is so cool!’.”
Furthermore, he showed strong enthusiasm towards playing the main role: “I want to make something that encourages people who have dreams and are working hard towards their goals. And I’ll work hard every week to deliver fun and joy to everyone watching.”
Comments from Ryutaro Imai (portraying Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz)
Please tell us about what you felt when you were chosen to play the protagonist.
The first emotion I felt was incredible happiness! I myself loved “Kamen Rider W” when I was little, and I remember learning about “what strength is”. Becoming a Rider has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and now it’s finally come true! Since this is the lead role in an important work, as happy as I am, I feel pressure and fear just as much. This was actually my third time auditioning for a Rider work. I’d progressed to the final round of a previous one, but I was very frustrated with all of them. This time, I did the audition prepared to fail since it seemed like I had bad luck with Rider, so it made me really happy.
What are things you’re keeping in mind for the role of Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz?
While I’m always tense on the filming sets, I keep things important for filming in mind during each and every scene. I think I should especially try to do things that set an example for children from now on.
What were your thoughts when you learned you would play an agent who sneaks into “dreams”?
I think that “dreams” are things that everyone have, and motivations for people to work hard. I can’t let people mess around with them. Baku and I both feel this way. He and I share the desire to protect and help people who are dreaming.
Zeztz transforms with the “Zeztz Driver”, the first belt in Kamen Rider history to be worn across the chest. What were your thoughts when you first heard that?
I was told about the “cross-body belt” after I passed the audition, and my first impression was “Huh, it goes across the chest…!” I’m happy that this is my ‘first time’, and I’d like to create a new hero that makes you think, “This different and new belt is so cool!”
What was difficult when you started filming? What made you happy instead?
At the start, voice-overs were difficult. It was my first tokusatsu work and there were a lot of things I didn’t understand, so I carefully studied action and voice-overs from Rider history, but I struggled on how to express the voice when in battle. A happy moment… definitely the best one was when I said “Transform!” for the first time. Doing transformation scenes is incredibly exciting even to me, and when I see Zeztz on the set every day, I go, “Aaah, Zeztz is so cool!”.
Please give a message to the audience!
I think that “dreams” are things that everyone has and is able to achieve. I want to make something that encourages people who have dreams and are working hard towards their goals. And I’ll work hard every week to deliver fun and joy to everyone watching.

i think i posted about this before but i just wanted to say that i am indeed now working on the yume nikki fangame mod for zeztz. should probably do a formal explanation because idk how many times i’ll be asked what the fuck this is…
THE ZEZTZ YUME NIKKI MOD PROJECT
this is a personal project to create a mod for a yume nikki fangame that reskins the protagonist’s sprites to the appearance of kamen rider zeztz. each effect is a different rider form or something similar.
what are yume nikki fangames?
yume nikki fangames are fangames inspired by the 2004 dream exploration game “yume nikki” (steam | play online). yume nikki is a game made in RPG maker 2003 that follows a girl named madotsuki. she refuses to leave her room and spends most of the game going to sleep and freely wandering the surreal and atmospheric worlds of her dreams as she collects “effects”. ynfgs, in turn, tend to traditionally follow a similar formula, though often changing at least one of the traits i listed above. different protagonists will have different dreams, and that changes the entire game.
the yume nikki fangame (ynfg) that i chose to mod is oversomnia. (wamby, if you want me to take the mod down at any point, please contact me and i will do so.)
for background, i myself am a dev who’s contributed to the collaborative ynfg “collective unconscious”. check that out too it’s awesome and everyone else who’s contributed has made super awesome stuff
why oversomnia?
oversomnia is one of my favorite ynfgs, and it happens to have a lot of traits that makes it a good fit for a project like this:
14 effects as of current patch. yume nikki has 24 effects, and a lot of the other fangames i’d like to mod have that many or even more. given that zeztz only has 4 known forms as of now and i’m not sure how many more he’ll have by the end, having 14 effects to mod feels much less daunting, while also giving me enough that i have room to work within.
masculine protagonist. this may sound trivial but using a ynfg protagonist as a drawing reference is so much easier when they have the same hair length and don’t wear a skirt.
lore that doesn’t clash. oversomnia has slightly more clear-cut lore than most other popular ynfgs (and even some character dialogue), but it’s not too harsh of a contrast against the tone or story that a kamen rider season usually has. i’m even thinking it might be fun to resprite some NPCs to other zeztz characters (definitely lucky).
i just really like it. like i said, it’s one of my favorites, and that’s going to make this project even more fun for me.
the only issue i have with doing oversomnia is that it doesn’t have a small effect and i only found out that zeztz’s paradigm wonder form can turn small after i decided on oversomnia. wamby if you could add one in an update before the show ends in august 2026 i will do anything for you
other candidates i had in mind were collective unconscious (i’m a dev for it and love it to death, and it only has 11 effects currently, but build access is very exclusive, there are a ton of alt skins, and it updates pretty frequently…) and unaccomplished (another favorite that i helped with the english translation of, but the “11 effects” stat is misleading in at least 3 separate ways for this one and it would be a massive and unpredictable challenge)
besides the lack of a small effect, oversomnia is the perfect fit for this project. i highly recommend that you check out the vanilla version because it’s awesome
what is kamen rider zeztz?
in march, the trademark for the next kamen rider season, “kamen rider zeztz”, was released. people noticed that the logo looked like “ZZZ”, and theorized that its theme might be sleep or dreams.
Tumblr media
i initially brushed this off but then realized what that would mean for me, whose two major interests are kamen rider and ynfgs. two months later i decided that i would mod yume nikki or a ynfg in the way i’ve already described. i have not lost sight of that goal.
then it was announced that zeztz will air in the US which means i can tell other yume nikki fans to watch it without the 50 disclaimers about which sites and subs to use and how to use the sites!! yeah i will be insufferable for the next year.
about kamen rider itself… kamen rider is a japanese tokusatsu (special effects action) superhero franchise that’s been going since 1971. there’s been a new kamen rider show with a different cast, story, and theme every year since 2000. shared visual motifs across the shows are using belts to transform into a rider and mid-air “rider kick” finishing moves. a shared thematic motif is “using evil power for good”. also, the villains in the original kamen rider show were nazis, so that’s fun trivia.
when will the mod be done?
i plan to release incomplete versions of the mod as the show progresses, though that might change. since i’ll be adding sprites as new forms appear in the show, it won’t be fully complete until at least june, when final forms usually debut.
i’m going at a pretty good pace right now, but the school year starts in a few weeks and i expect to be very busy during it. i’m not sure how much time i’ll have to work on it.
on the bright side i am making this mod purely for myself and i don’t expect for anyone else to use it so there won’t be a lot of pressure to make it quickly.

translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
The reunion with Hajime was a happy moment. Mixing with the people he’s met— seeing what Shoma was like in the early days made me feel nostalgic. It’s a little different when he has companions alongside him. Episode 44 was an episode where truths that hadn’t been shown before now were put in during rehearsals. On the day of the Hero Festival (Eiyū Sai), I was crammed in the venue’s conference room until just before the curtain rose, having been told, “all of the people involved should be in here!”, and the scriptwriting meeting we had in there is a memory I’ll never forget. ^^
Soon, the summer movie will premiere on July 25th before episode 45 airs next time! It’s become a work that I’d love for you to see on the big screen (even though I always say this), so everyone, you should definitely go and see it at the theater! And since the irregular staff rotation will continue in the TV series, episodes 45 and 46 will be directed by Teruaki Sugihara. Please soak up the plentiful Sugihara content this summer. When he’s working with Action Director Fujita, they’re unstoppable!
I’m sure some have become curious about this from the trailer and the “Shake It Off” climax PV, but why is Shoma with Nyelv? Where are they going? The episode’s subtitle may give you a hint…
Next episode will be a full-power display of Nyelv’s true abilities, so please look forward to it. Since Takizawa’s single-scene first appearance at the beginning, he has firmly established the character of Nyelv. There have been many meaningful smiles from Nyelv before a cut to commercials or in the last moment of an episode. What’s nyel-behind it? Takizawa also has a great amount of experience with work on stage shows, and that helps him to show his hidden strengths. He’s also worked on a stage show with Komura as its writer, which led to her recommending him. How will the Stomach siblings end up? I hope you enjoy watching “Gavv” until the end, along with the summer movie.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 44!
There are probably many people who have been watching since the very beginning (!?). This is not a rerun of episode 1. The title of this episode is a line from the lyrics of the theme song, “God Boost?” [TN: the producer made a typo point and laugh].
Gavv is approaching its final part, and the battles with the Granutes will only escalate, but episode 44 began with a reunion with the boy who found Shoma in episode 1 and reflected on a long-gone past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode is what people call a “clip episode”, but since it’s also boring to just re-edit old footage like normal, we concentrated on devising a structure for it. There were also special clips that exposed “new truths” from the perspectives of many characters, similar to a multi-protagonist story, or tied into the summer movie. With that logic, let’s look back on the uniquely-flavored episode 44!
🍭 I Found a Kamen Rider
This line from young Hajime, being a symbol of the concepts seen early on in “Gavv” of “a Kamen Rider being picked up” and “a boy who accidentally finds him”, was a phrase that the planning team also liked a lot.
It was also a candidate for the title of episode 1, but in the end, it wasn’t used in the actual story. However, since this episode would look back on everything since episode 1, it was the perfect place to use it.
I’m sure many people were surprised by the return of Hajime Hiroi that was written about previously!
Tumblr media
Hajime’s actor Ayaki Hirano has grown and his voice has changed a little since we last saw him, which surprised all of the staff members (Laugh).
However, Chinen’s expressions have also become more mature compared to episode 1 and he has become more dignified. We could feel his growth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode’s director was Teruaki Sugihara, the pilot director of our “Gavv”.
Since Sugihara was the one who selected both Chinen and Hirano at auditions, the filming staff and the director all certainly must have felt like they were filming their own children in this second co-appearance (Laugh).
Director Sugihara being the one in charge of this episode was a factor in it having a story.
Tumblr media
This is a digression, but there are Gochizos designed by Takijima-P on the cover of “Gavv’s” scripts, and the main Gochizo of the given episode would be on its cover.
For episode 44, the ZakuZaku Chips Gochizo that debuted in episode 2 was drawn.
Tumblr media
👅 The Stomach Company’s Little-Known Reality
In the shadow of Shoma and Hajime’s reunion, this episode also focuses on the Stomach Company. A certain part-timer of the company. It seemed like the awfulness of the Stomach Company was fully known after their human world debut, but…
Through the viewpoint of a Granute (a victim, in a sense?), looking back on the Kamen Riders’ battles becomes somewhat fresh, too. Naoki Hosaka played this episode’s part-timer in a bizarre fashion. I’m glad he barely managed to escape…!
Tumblr media
There were replay-like aspects of this episode, but Director Fujita also took it on with a fresh approach! From Nyelv’s lovely fight to the complicated action in a back alley [?], it was enchanting even though the moments were brief. Nyelv’s actor Takizawa does dance all the time, so the sober action with light movement was also his forte!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nyelv’s weapon was bow-shaped, but this time, it somehow became a pair of swords! Upon Action Director Fujita’s request, a weapon with 2-in-1 use between a bow and dual swords was adopted, and he used it to the fullest in this episode’s action. You’d think Nyelv is a long-range type of guy, but he can also do scrappy close-range fights, and it’s so cunning and cool…!
Tumblr media
And this may have been another big surprise, but Glotta and Siita returned! Is this another rare technique? They reflect on their battles as their lives play in front of them. And there are other parts of the episode that reflect its title, but when you think about how all of the Stomach siblings have fought against the Kamen Riders with their own reasons, it’s a little heartbreaking.
It was Director Sugihara’s choice to have them lie defeated amongst white feathers. I hear there were a lot of feathers not cleaned up that were left on the set afterwards… Why feathers… Please give it a guess.
Tumblr media
Glotta’s final episode was a Nakazawa set (episode 40), and there weren’t any plans for her to return during that episode’s filming, but Chitose was overjoyed to see Director Sugihara again for another appearance!
Tumblr media
As an interesting thing to show in a clip episode, we tried to not end at the usual reflection, and to also reveal “new information”.
One of those details was “Lango’s assassination of Bouche”.
It’s fairly shocking information, but it shows how cool-headed Lango is. We didn’t know the limit to this family’s darkness… I’d like you to pay attention to Lango’s actions and his quest for revenge from here on out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Furthermore, since this is right before the movie’s release, there are also special clips that connect to the movie.
With this being an episode by Director Sugihara, who also worked as the movie’s director, he could also do this trial as a TV episode that broadcasts before the summer movie’s premiere. Please see for yourself the world that’s somewhat different from “Gavv’s”, and the secrets of this one, at the movie theater.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next time, a certain action of Nyelv will cause the story to move in big ways. Nyelv follows a Gochizo that leads him to a surprising place. Make sure not to miss it!

how are ERAM and the SMILE option in the S-Rank room translated? PLEASE tell me they're similar to the vessel discarder...
smile option in vending machine:
SMILE -> スマイル (“smile”) Always at your humble service -> ご用の際は いつでも お申しつけ ください (“Please call on if you are in need, no matter when”)
as for ERAM’s dialogue, there aren’t any standout similarities or differences between it and the third voice

Hi! can you tell me what type of text egg man uses in Japanese, and if its the same with Gasters? a lot of people say Gaster is the eggman but i think that its not him. Like is it Hiragana? Kanji? Katakana? a mix?
the forgotten man does not use kanji— only hiragana with some katakana mixed in. this is just referencing how old game consoles and handhelds had text like this. something to do with there not being enough game memory to store kanji? it’s the same reason for most of undertale and the light world having no kanji in the dialogue—that’s a reference to earthbound.
other than that, the forgotten man does not talk anything like gaster. he talks in a casual manner. first-person and second-person pronouns are “watashi” and “kimi” respectively, as opposed to gaster’s “watakushi/ware-ware” (iirc) and “anata”.

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 43 Production Blog
this next one is going to be… interesting to translate
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
The director rotation has become irregular in the final stage of the show, and since the Morota arc was only an episode long, next episode will be directed by Teruaki Sugihara. With the summer movie alongside it, it’s a Sugihara festival! A lot of things are being set up for the summer movie ahead of time. Good old Hajime, who first appeared in episode 1, is also in the trailer! (His full name is Hajime Hiroi. Komura is so creative with names…!) It’s really been 11 months since episode 1 for Hajime as well, and his face and voice seem so grown-up now… Everyone, please look forward to their reunion. The figures of Siita and Glotta, who were defeated, also appear, and they even appear as guests in the summer movie. Episode 44 will be the last one to air before the summer movie premieres, so we put in many set-ups for it. Please don’t miss it!
Along with its summer movie, “Gavv” is also blazing through its last section. Have you been able to watch “Shake It Off’s” Climax PV yet? We also planned it with the intention to show things that have changed from the new-chapter visuals up to now, and footage that has yet to be seen is also included in places. Through Action Director Fujita’s editing, you can feel the love towards all of the suit actors. Fujita said that he liked music videos and was interested in doing them, so Takijima-P asked him to do it. We’d like you to watch it as many times as you want!
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 43!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this irregular single-episode Morota arc, the emotions of Shoma and Masaru were carefully depicted!
🐙 Bocca Comes Ashore!!
To prepare for his farm transformation plan, President Bocca finally arrived in the human realm! With his human form being revealed, I’m glad that Director Morota was able to do this episode, since he is the purveyor director to the Presidential Residence (?), having been involved with episodes 29 and 30 as well.
At the time that episode 29 was being written, discussions understandably were beginning to happen over whether his human form would look more like the members of the Stomach Family or like Lizel, and who we would cast in those cases.
Tumblr media
As a result, by episode 29, there was no need for him to take a human form, and a President with no interest in the human world wouldn’t take that form in the Granute realm, so we made his character have a royal figure and a dignified voice.
And this time, facing the long-awaited inspection episode, we once again took on casting for “if he happened to get a human form”. There were ideas for his form to be a “total authority” older man, but we opted to go with a younger man who would have a “beautiful package” feeling when he was alongside Lizel. Thinking about a young person who would bring out his differences in values from that of humans, and his strong presence, we decided to offer the role to Takeru Funaki, who also appeared in the stage part of the previous year’s Toei Movie-Stage, “Jakkotai”!
Tumblr media
Funaki is part of a group based in Hokkaido, and he makes songs that show a variety of singing and dancing. During their busy days which often involve a lot of moving around, he found time to bleach his hair and turn it an amazin’ [TN: that was originally a word from the Hokkaido dialect, which is cute] beautiful white color! His tall stature and clearly defined facial features already gave him a strong aura, but with the sudden appearance of this even-more-attractive young man, the persuasiveness of his strength levels up!
This role has tall hurdles to jump over, with the human form being first shown after quite some time passed since the character’s first appearance, but he played it magnificently! Combined with the voice performance by Yasumoto, his strong presence grows even more! His costume was also chosen carefully, and his coordination with Lizel gives a good feeling! The production of Lizel’s papa’s human form was done with a lot of energy (Laugh).
Tumblr media
But the Jardak family went on a nice tour. Do you think that humans will act differently than they thought?
Tumblr media
It’s surprising how casually they treat destructive acts that should be huge spectacles, like, “Oh, there’s someone going into this building, should we try to destroy it?”. After observing it this week, you need to watch out for where they’ll strike next…!
🍈 Masaru’s Family
At the end of episode 42, Shoma learned the shocking truth that Masaru Inoue, the man who owns Hidamari, is his uncle!
This time, Shoma is shown being unable to decide whether he should tell Masaru the truth.
Tumblr media
Hanto helping Shoma out by bringing in his own experiences was dazzling. He’s gained many skills after overcoming so many obstacles (I’d like to see what Rakia would say too, haha)
Masaru is reminded of his sister by how Shoma makes eating snacks look so delicious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
College-age Michiru is also played by Nakajima, naturally. Nakajima, your sense of transparency is truly wonderful, and your face is lovely…! The Michiru that Masaru remembers seems more innocent childlike than the mother that Shoma usually talks about. Shoma definitely inherited his hardcore love of sweets from her.
And since Masaru and Shoma are uncle and nephew, we looked for people who would have “a similar atmosphere to Shoma at least somewhere” during casting.
Tumblr media
Handa and Chinen’s gentle eyes when they smile… those look similar, right? They share a kind atmosphere. The “Hidamari (sunny spot)” that still has hope that Michiru could return has already become an important place for Shoma. This story will continue to develop…!
🍰 A Delicious Form
While his wife attends to the President’s trip to the human realm, Jiip is training to become stronger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teacher~! Sakai is going weightless again~!
Tumblr media
Agents: “I don’t understand”
Tumblr media
And naturally, Nyelv is also collecting data… It feels like he doesn’t want to get to close to Jiip (Laugh). Can you possibly look forward to the Stomach family being slightly different from normal in the movie!? Please check what’s going on on the screen!
Meanwhile, in the human world, the Jardak family ends up encountering one the Granute Hunters, also known as Riders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m sorry, Rakia. His reporting skills are amazing; he’s able to take in information from conversation even while getting beaten down (very president-like)!
And, it’s not like “Granute Hunter? Well, I can’t let you transform!”. Mr. President, do you know the name of the program!? The transformation is important!
Tumblr media
“…”
Oh, it seems like he understands now. These two were able to transform!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe he waited for them because he was also revealing his original form (Laugh).
By the way, this scene has a shot that was shown ahead of time in the Climax PV, which was introduced earlier in the blog. The PV was first released at the end of episode 41’s broadcast, but if you look closer, you’ll see many shots in it that still haven’t been released yet, so please look forward to the day where all of the scenes will be known.
At any rate, it’s amazing that the CaKing form, which debuted in episode 14, continues to be active.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since the Whip Soldiers’ ability to have variations in their movements is a strong point of theirs, I was extremely excited when I saw them making scaffolding with their spears in the advance preview.
Being admirable and somehow cute at the same time, and being able to make sweet and soft parts even in the middle of a tense battle, is truly a Whip-like achievement!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s a pose that reminds me of a security police movie scene where they capture the robbers.
Then, a theory that we first tested during Geats that “anything will work with white”. It was a system that involved many variations in suit parts, but Geats’ white mask fit with any color of armor that appeared! (Don’t rehearse it [??].)
Is this also applied with CaKing? Its design is constant, but as I just mentioned, it’s been appearing since episode 14, so the Rider forms it stands alongside have changed many times. It looks good no matter who’s next to him (Laugh).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The white-and-silver lineup with Vram Alamode and the white-and-gold with Valen Frappe Custom also have a great air of luxury!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone, which combination is your favorite~?
Although the security police were ultimately forced to leave their posts, the two Riders couldn’t stand up to the power of the President himself at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nyelv also seems to be planning something. Please pay attention to the continued activity of each character~!

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 42 Production Blog
episode was immediately and completely overshadowed by the announcement directly after it (What The Fuck??????) but i still gotta do this and i got a car ride all day today soooo yeah this is getting translated today regardless
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
Rakia used his tentacles that he didn’t want to use on humans. The man from the sweets shop Hidamari also slowly approaches the same beach. With the young cast, we also wanted adults who could act… We approached Shuhei Handa in part because of that, but he also portrayed the father of Ryo Ryusei’s character [TN: if you recognize that name, it’s because he played daigo/kyoryu red!] in the drama “Sibling Intrusion”. He has ties to heroes.
Next will be a Morota arc. For Director Morota, in episodes like the one about Hanto’s arch-nemesis Granute, it feels like he’s able to support performances with psychological aspects.
And now, the President finally arrives in the human realm! We put a lot of effort into casting for his human form. Since he’s the President, his appearance, strength, and just about anything else must be convincing.
In this work, we’ve been filming episodes ahead of time, so we filmed the summer movie after wrapping up filming for all of the TV series. The movie’s plot will happen at the same time as the show, so we had to take LONG strokes in the planning meetings for the summer movie. Its differences from the currently-airing TV series will also be worth seeing, so please pay attention to that. Information and posters for the movie are appearing one by one. I’d absolutely love for you to watch it on the big screen!! We’ve made an impressive film. Let’s meet at the movie theater this summer.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 42! It’s the final one to be directed by Takayuki Shibasaki! The story had serious parts as well, but he gladly brought in his trademark playfulness into the direction as well. Now that we’re approaching the final stretch of “Gavv”, the sense of scale in the battles will grow more and more, and the things already embedded into the story will gradually come to light!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🍫👓 Nyelv’s Experiment Leaves a Bitter Aftertaste
Nyelv’s experiment has been set up. Last episode was the trial stage, but this time was the demonstration phase. Since he’d verified that he was able to easily control the movements of humans, he plans to manipulate them with deeper hypnosis this time.
The plot for Suga to lead humans to the ocean with hypnosis was conceived from the German fairy tale “the Pied Piper of Hamelin”. The ability to lead a large group of people into the ocean is considerably shocking… Nothing good can happen when the glasses duo is involved… 👓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last moment of the previous episode had the unthinkable twist of Hanto also getting hypnotized. Him briefly regaining consciousness when water was splashed on him wasn’t a part of the script, but it was added as a playful moment from the director. (The moment when water got splashed was one that didn’t allow for mess-ups…!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How do you show Hanto’s unstable emotions while he’s brainwashed by Nyelv? Director Shibasaki was also the one who came up with the idea to portray and angel and devil, and that’s how the light and dark Hantos in an ethereal dimension were born. The “food review” shots after Shoma eats a snack are similar, but otherworldly staging is a signature move of Director Shibasaki’s (Laugh).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Furthermore, the owner of the snack cafe called “Hidamari” that Shoma visits frequently, Masaru, gets hypnotized as well. He’s appeared since we plunged into the new chapter where President Bocca appeared as a new enemy. When he first appeared, he was depicted as an everyday part of the show, but now he has been completely dragged into the battle between Kamen Riders and Granutes.
Tumblr media
“The search for Shoma’s family” has been happening since the new chapter began. Now, Hanto finally reaches the conclusion that Masaru is Shoma’s uncle.
Shuhei Handa, who was cast for the role of Masaru, was perfectly suited the role for a streetside candy shop with his very kind atmosphere and performance, but since we wanted some kind of feeling of satisfaction when his relation to Shoma was revealed, we also cast him with the logic that he looks fairly similar in appearance to Chinen.
What will Shoma and Masaru do now that they’ve learned the truth? Please look forward to the plot points already set up and how they will be connected from here on out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🍪 From Broken Cookies
The filming location for the battle in the second half of the arc is along a beach. We got lucky with the weather, and took very good footage! All of the extras, we thank you for your work during filming in the cold weather!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s definitely reflected in the seaside off-camera photos (it looks cold…)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nyelv’s Granute form officially debuted in this episode! It’s the final one of the Stomach siblings.
His transformation with him taking off his glasses was so crafty! And cool!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was also touched on in this section last time, but the motif for Nyelv’s Granute form is Jörmungandr, a giant serpent from Norse mythology. Designs that look like a serpent’s fangs and skin are inserted in many places.
His suit actor is Yuji Nakata. In Gavv, he’s been a big help by playing not only the Dark Shomas as Bitter Gavv, but also the Butlers, but now, he takes the mound with Nyelv’s Granute form!
The Stomachs’ staffs have been changed by every sibling in their own ways. Nyelv adopts a bow shape for it. It’s very Nyelv-like to not take on short-range fights and instead to unhurriedly shoot down his targets from a long distance. By the way, since Nyelv created Vram, which also has a bow, does that mean that the Vram Breaker was developed from this bow?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The free-for-all against Bitter Gavv and Nyelv continues from last time. Gavv and Vram pin down Bitter Gavv as he rampages. This figure, fighting in a dreamlike state even while crumbling from the blows he takes, is truly “puppet-like”.
When the cookies on his body crumble off, you can really feel the heartbreak of this being only a shadow of what Suga once was. Incidentally, like how we’ve used deodorized beads when the gummies on Gavv’s body are destroyed, the fractured cookies in this episode were shown using cork!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while it’s sad, Shintaro Asanuma finished his part in the show this time! He was able to give a charming performance for Suga, who has had a huge presence from his first moment to his last, until the very end. Thank you for loving Gavv the most out of anyone, and for continuing to watch over the young cast members on the set!!
Tumblr media
A wrap-up with hands with a T. rex motif, which Asanuma has a connection. Speaking of, Suga’s debut episode (episode 3) was also a Shibasaki arc. A commemorative photo with Suga’s creator and the mastermind who modified him. 📸
Episodes 41 and 42’s audio commentary, in which Asanuma and Takizawa talk about plenty of behind-the-scenes stories, is currently available on TTFC!
Tumblr media
They could defeat the Bitter Gavv formerly known as Suga, but Nyelv has escaped. The secrets of Nyelv, who still has many mysteries surrounding him, are interesting.
Next time, the President will finally make his move. Please look forward to it!

i've been reading your posts on deltarune's jp text, interesting stuff, ty for the work. i got a question tho, can you elaborate more on the unused text's speaking being childish? like, how young are we talking? cuz it seems like dess went missing as a teenager, so if the text is like, small child age then it seems like whoever the text is can't be dess
hi! i think this was described in one of the sources that my chapter 2 post linked, but for posterity:
the unused text has been noted to have feminine or childish speaking patterns. these include:
not ending sentences with the copula “da” (だ, rough equivalent to “is”, “are”, or “it’s”)
ending questions with the particle “の”
using particles like “wa” (は) and “ga” (が) less frequently
explaining why these patterns are feminine/childish would take a while and is not really in the scope of this question. if you want to look further into it, i’d recommend you start with this tofugu article.
…actually, looking back over this article, the unused text speaks in an even more gender-neutral way than i suspected. we’ll get into that.
also, it should be noted that most fem japanese speakers don’t actually speak in a very feminine manner, though it’s much more common in fiction for female characters to speak this way.
here is the unused text from every chapter. parts that follow these patterns have been made bold, and parts that go against these patterns have been italicized:
chapter 1:
ここは… どこ…? ねえ…誰か… 誰か…いないの? ねえってば! 誰か答えてよ! … 暗いよ… 真っ暗だ… お願い… 誰か… 聞こえてるなら… なにか…言ってよ…
you can see that these rules are already not very exact, as the speaker uses the copula “da” near the end. they also use the particle “wa” in a sentence where it could have been omitted to sound more feminine.
chapter 2:
using “da” and “wa” again, but otherwise using very few particles and sentence enders.
chapter 3:
now the dialogue sounds significantly more neutral than feminine. i’m not sure if this is actually a significant change, or if it’s just because the speaker is saying more complete sentences.
chapter 4:
same deal here.
it’s with this one that i’ve started to wonder if the gender of the speaker is being intentionally obscured. they haven’t used a first-person pronoun (meaning “i” or “me”; these usually indicate femininity or masculinity, depending on the one used)—it isn’t exactly uncommon to usually omit those in japanese, but at this point it’s a tiny bit conspicuous, especially with them saying “I feel like this voice (この声, kono koe) is reaching someone” instead of “my voice”, which would require them to use a first-person pronoun.
i was not the first person to come up with the idea that the unused text used feminine/childish speech patterns, but it became embedded into my idea of the text, especially after researching for the chapter 2 post i made last year. it should be mentioned that said post is over a year old at this point, and that i have improved greatly at japanese translation since then, so i feel okay with saying that i was wrong to believe that, that the unused text speaks in a generally gender-neutral manner, and that they are likely supposed to have an unclear gender.
i do still think the unused text is 100% dess though.

Tumblr media
sorry reblogger but i think you’re misunderstanding the post.
i used “gender-neutral” interchangeably with “not childish” in my head when writing this post, but looking it back over, i realize i didn’t really state it clearly. however, i have the ability to say so now, and i will: the unused text is definitely not a young child (sentences are too structured to be like 3-8 years old), and given everything we know about dess now, i don’t think it would be reasonable to believe that she went missing at a younger age than like 11 or 12.
