the production blog for gavv episode 50 wonât be translated for a while. iâm going to be starting on the producers symposium for gavv today. these have historically taken anywhere from one to four weeks, and with more intensive classes at school than last year, iâm expecting this one to be on the upper end of that range.
iâm also not currently planning to translate the production blogs for zeztz, as itâs become very stressful to work on those.
so⊠enjoy that shitty auto translate they added to the website for a while. sorry about that

That exchange between the three Riders felt like one that would be in the final episode⊠What will happen next time? âGavvâ will soon reach its finale after a year of being broadcast.
Shoma and Lango fight one-on-one! I think it was decided that the final fight would be this way very close to when President Bocca first appeared. The eldest brother and youngest child have had frequent battles, such as their reunion in episode 11 (Kamihoriuchi set), the airport area in episode 35 (Sugihara set), and in front of the door in episode 48 (Nakazawa set). Of course, itâs also a battle of performances. I think they became moments for Chinen to learn from. It was impressive and wonderful! Tsukamoto, who has been active since debuting in his teens, might have interacted with Chinen a lot⊠At the beginning of filming, too, Tsukamoto would kindly answer the questions that Chinen enthusiastically asked while taking notes. His gaze then was striking.
Langoâs costume is hot in the summertime, and filming on a green screen takes more time. Even so, Tsukamoto would always be cheerful and calm, and tackled the filming in harmony with the actors of the Stomach family. He would also often playfully introduce himself as âMister Lango, number one trending globallyâ. Weâre grateful to him for supporting the Stomach family and the story over the year. (Even though it still isnât over) The stories about the âBattle Royalsâ and his family that we heard in the intervals between were also enjoyable.
Also, thank you for the incredible popularity on Gavvâs Final Stage and merchandise. This was also discussed the other day in the space with Gozyugerâs Matsuura-P, but Iâve been thinking about how each and every one of the cast members were incredible⊠Theyâve been able to take on their performances with positivity and seriousness. Please watch the final episode, the culmination of our hard work, on August 31st at 9:00!
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 49. Through the laughter, tears, and hunger, thereâs one episode left! Please watch the finale in real time.
Welcome Home, Mr. Lango
Just when you thought he would fight to the death with the president, Lango [????????] with the defeat.

Itâs revolting, but also coolâŠ! The very start of episode 49 is directly linked to the end of episode 48, so the set was passed from Director Nakazawa to Director Morota. The Bocca fight was a day packed full of takes, but âsince the true boss shows up hereâŠâ, it became our mission to hand it off to Director Morota after the sun had set. (Laugh)

We successfully accomplished it.
At the stage where they choose to retreat without battling with Lango, it was written in the script that all three of the Riders say âShould we withdrawâŠ?â at the same time, but Rakia is the only one who ends up saying that. Following up on that, a three-person hotline was activated where âWell, the last person to give up and leave would be Hanto,â without anyone having to say so to the director. The changes in where theyâre looking [?] and the like were also suggested themselves, displaying the teamwork that has been cultivated.
Regardless, welcome home, Lango. Itâs been about half a year since he was driven out of his seat as company president, and heâs finally regained the position⊠but the brothers and sisters who would gladly join him in that revival are no longer around.

Itâs also been a long time since we last saw Lango receiving information from an Agent in this seat.
Now that heâs rid of the pain in his neck named Bocca, Lizel and Jiip donât pose much of a threat.

The scene that stole my heart in the preview was the one where Lizel visits her fatherâs residence, in disbelief at her fatherâs loss.

Itâs a performance on a green screen like usual, but Kamata brilliantly expresses the situation of being left alone in this vast space thatâs lost the large presence in it.
Due to the filming schedule arrangements, the drama was nearly done with filming before Lizel, who was cast at an audition that Director Morota was at, first appeared on-air. (Iâm sure it was strange for those who noticed her as TTFC extras and thought, âWho is that girl!?â.) She joined the battle after the halfway point, was the youngest of the whole group, and was set to speak at events and make a character song while her involvement was still unknown to the public⊠Even then, Kamata took all of it on cheerfully and directly. Everyone ends up smiling when they talk with her.
Her personality can be seen on âGirlâs Summer Vacationâ, which is currently available to stream on TTFC. The three of them have conversations that are overwhelmingly comforting, so please see it if you havenât!
Trusting in Sweets!
This episodeâs title, âI Trust in Sweetsâ, took inspiration from Shomaâs line when he confronts Lango, âItâs the power of snacks that make humans happyâ, as well as his great amount of activity with cotton candy, but I think there couldnât have been a better four words to sum up Shomaâs memories with his mother and all of the encounters that heâs had since coming to the human world.
The problem of how to deal with a machine of an opponent who covers such a vast space is an argument we had thoroughly at script meeting(s). As we simulated what could be done with every Gochizo and form, what we ended up deciding on was the idea for making rain loaded with the antidote with MofuPachi.

Itâs a response to, and an interpretation of, a previously-seen Gochizo. You can feel how much potential the Gochizos haveâŠ! I got the impression that this is the first drama with a person who can eat cotton candy like itâs wanko soba. (Laugh)
Masaru is another figure associated with âsweetsâ. In his strong sense of justice and desire to make sweets, you can feel his relation to Michiru and Shoma. People who have seen the movie might feel this even more so.

Heâs a rather special figure to ask, âYouâre the Kamen Rider, right?â, and then go, âWhat is thisâŠâ[?] (Laugh).

This part is also very much like Gavv, who trusts in sweets! He doesnât only use his power to fight enemies. Shomaâs foundational belief is to protect humans!
Their Own Battles
While Shoma works on disabling the Nye-Gochis, the Granute world infiltration specialist duo (with episode 46 fresh in oneâs mind) take it upon themselves to destroy the Dark Snack factory. đ« đź
This might be a part where you think, âIf Rakia goes through this door with an entrusting expressionâŠâ.

They successfully destroy the Dark Snack factory and begin to retrieve the Human Presses⊠but it seems like Lango deployed his Agents to deal with them.

What does he say to stir Hanto⊠Itâs a line that shows Rakiaâs brotherly side, and his relationship with Hanto being at a point where he can say rude things. You can feel on the screen the enthusiasm from every part thinking, âThis is where Rakia really is captivating!â

This isnât partner practice for PPAP or anything like that. Itâs PA (Pudding Ă la mode).
The lighting is cool too! The silver body reflects in the dark.

The stylish and powerful battle which makes use of Vramâs weapons and tentacles, and the coordinated movements between the Agents attacking him, are just a few of the many highlights of the battle, so please say bon appĂ©tit to it as many times as you want.

Help yourselves to these âHey, this is cheating!â still images as well. [?] âš
Wow~~, Eitoku did a great job! Some of the Agents were absolutely thinking, âWait, hold on, this guyâs awesomeâ!
This is really unfair, so we brought in these cute ankles (Ă la mode Mode) too.

Adorable đą (emotionally)
Heâs left the rest to you, Hanto!

With his stint as a deliveryman in the movie, heâs been in charge of transport many times now. Well, just when you think that, Jiip gets himself involvedâŠ

Thank you for putting so much detail into Hanto seeming to lose his footing even in the Door Space (Laugh) Valenâs last battle is also a highlight of the final episode!
Please see out the future that each of them take hold of!

Bocca, the president, is defeatedâŠ! A rare 3-Rider kick!! The heated team battle was a great send-off by Director Nakazawa. The new form, AmazinGummy, was miraculous. Moments like the exchange between Rakia and a newly aware Sachika had a noteworthy and fun Nakazawa pace to them. Weâre very grateful to him!
The last two episodes will be directed by Satoshi Morota. Since his start with Hantoâs transformation in episodes 5 and 6, heâs filmed a crab musician, octopus ink, ice cream birth, Lizelâs first appearance, and Hantoâs fateful opponent⊠Plenty of memorable moments. What airs is (naturally) composed of the final approved shots, but filming takes many different processes to get there. Script meetings also have points of attention for directors. Director Morota has clear plans in his head, and he gives precise instructions for the cast membersâ performances to follow those plans. On the emotional side of things, Director Morota has supported us this year the most. Please look forward to the last two episodes.
Heâs also facing the final episodes alongside Masaru, the owner of the candy shop called âHidamariâ. Michiru and Masaru Inoue⊠Their names match one another. Komura named them like that intentionally.
Many people are also seeing the summer movie. Thank you for making this a genuinely big hit! Thereâs still a little bit of time left to see it on the big screen. âGavvâ is ending with the summer. Please enjoy it until the end.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 48. Gavvâs story is getting closer and closer to its climax! Director Nakazawa has been part of the director rotation since he joined in the second half of the show. He was in charge of this essential stage that is the decisive battle with President Bocca.

How do you defeat an opponent as mighty as the president? This was a problem we worried about at first, but the answer came in the form of âLango helping with the fightâ and âGavvâs awakeningâ. I think the âThree Kamen Riders & Lango vs. Boccaâ battle was a moment with appropriately fierce turbulence for the final stage of the story!
Stop the Fake Gochizos!
All of us are working hard to save the people being controlled by the large number of fake Gochizos scattered around downtown. The game of chase between the Gochizos and Dummy Gochizos, and the characters using bug nets to catch the Dummies, were direction choices made by Director Nakazawa. Delightfully showing parts that are a little bit everyday in nature is a consistent aspect of Nakazawa directing.

Gochizo Catcher Hanty (Laugh)

Meanwhile, Rakia works on developing an antidote for his toxins with the notes Dente left behind. In contrast to the toxinâs red color (like the poison that Glotta used in episode 40), the antidote is a blue hue. Itâs an extremely specific detail, but this is to reflect how Rakiaâs tentacles in his Granute form change from blue to red.

Sachika is released from her Human Press. The Happy Paradeâs uneven space was used in a way so perfect that you might think it was designed for this bit (Laugh)

Shoma meets again with Lango, who heâd thought that he defeated. Lango, who lost to Shoma and had secretly operated in the human world for a little while, finally launches into full-blown rebellion.

Lango borrows the strength of Shoma, who is more powerful than him. Like Nyelv, heâs a person who isnât picky with the means with which he achieves his goal.
Defeating Bocca, a powerful figure in the Granute world, means he gets to expand the company. With that behavior of always fixating on the future, in a sense, this dilemma was a perfect chance for Lango. Langoâs quick wit lets him play by ear and adapt to things, which is excellent as a company president⊠though many of those things are harmful for optics.

An Amazing Kamen Rider
Lango aims for Lizel first and holds her hostage to lure in Bocca.
âFirst Daughter Kidnapped by Former President of Large Candy Companyâ
This headline would definitely sweep the Granute world news if it was released⊠(Laugh)

Iâm sure this papa is furious deep down at the abduction of his beloved daughter. He casually appears and says âSorry for keeping you waiting, Lizelâ, once again staying composed.
You might be thinking, âWouldnât he bring a bunch of bodyguards with him usually?â, but the reason that he came by himself will be explained in the next scene.

âItâs because Iâm just that strong.â
As you can see from Boccaâs appearance at full power, the President is ridiculously strong. The Granute world is a society with an ability-based hierarchy where the strong individuals are on top. When they donât know the full strength of Bocca, who stands at the very top, Bocca probably thinks that itâll be easy to settle himself if he goes for it. [?]
Boccaâs full Granute form has been designed since his first appearance. Since his motif animal is the gigantic âCthulhuâ, his body has a sense of volume. The golden limbs that look like armor carry a noble atmosphere while giving a feeling of strength, and really show the good taste of the designer, Tamotsu Kurihara.

The three Riders come running in and do a simultaneous transformation!

They face off against Bocca in a 4-v-1, including Lango, but they are still overwhelmed by his unmatched power. The filming for the action was done across two days in a location where explosions could be done. [?] Boccaâs suit actor, Masashi Takada, thinks it was considerably backbreaking work to fight four people at once in Boccaâs heavy suitâŠ!

A new Gochizo born in response to Shomaâs unwavering feelings. This special Gochizoâs name, âAmazinGummy Gochizoâ, also appears in the subtitle. (Itâs a healthy child, getting a blow to Boccaâs face while freshly bornâŠ)
Plot-wise, itâs a Gochizo born from Shomaâs unwavering determination, and one that can only be born in extreme situations like this one. The Gochizoâs red color is also tied to Shomaâs blood; more wound makeup was applied to Chinen than usual.

The official name of this newly awakened Gavv is âKamen Rider Gavv AmazinGummy Formâ. It can also be called âRed Gavv Formâ... The design reflects the color of Shomaâs Gavv across the whole body.
It wasnât originally planned to appear, but it was created to create a feeling of importance that Gavv is surpassing Boccaâs strength in this decisive battle with the President. The red color represents a âburning will to fightâ. Rather than a new snack used to transform, the appearance reflects Shomaâs own emotions. A wide variety of snacks have appeared, and there have been Gochizos that play with gimmicks like the Gochipod, but this time, the Gavv form is a simpler design that, in a way, returns to the starting point.

A burning will to fight has fire as its special ability. The heat bending the air around it and and nullifying Boccaâs ability was an idea from Action Director Fujita. It isnât âjust plain strongâ; the action is thought about very logically.

Incidentally, the explosion during the transformation is real and not CG. Moreover, it had to be done twice, both before and after the transformation! This explosive, commonly called ânapalmâ, makes for tense shoots, as preparation is difficult and thereâs no room for error, but this turned out wonderfully!

In the end, the three Riders successfully defeat Bocca with a team Rider kick! A theme of this episode was âshowing the strength of humansâ. This was an appropriately fierce battle that proved that strength (although one of the Riders is a Granute) and truly felt like all-out war.
Yasumoto completed his role as Bocca this time. Before now, heâs played Bocca with a lot of composure, but for his finale, he gave a passionate performance with almost ghastly acting that made for the greatest conclusion to the character!

And on that note, Gavv has only 2 episodes left! The final battle with Lango, the long-standing enemy, is waiting. Please look forward to it!

NyelvâŠ! The schemer is bested by his schemes⊠Itâs been written countless times, but this character has steadily grown thanks to Takizawa portraying him. Not only that, but heâs also been active in many other things, like talks, events, songs, and choreography. He may reappear on the Final Stage as wellâŠ! We are very grateful to him.
One-year-long series are long, so there were plans for the enemies to power-up over time⊠Like a vicious mafia family appearing and replacing the Stomach family. That morphed into the President and Lizel, but there was also a plan for the Stomach family to be completely eradicated midway through the show. But since all of the actors had built up their roles so much, they became characters who are even active in the movie. Thatâs what happens in a Rider series that goes along without having everything fully decided. (Even though the filming starts earlier now, itâs finished at the same pace, so the program still reflects the previews and their reactions.)
Now there are only three episodes left in âGavvâ. Next is the second half of the Nakazawa arc. Each character is heading toward the finale. What is this unexpected AmazinGummy? Please donât miss the final decisive battles of âGavvâ!
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 47!

How are you supposed to beat the President?! The full-blown war heats up even further! The relationship chart has been cleaned out considerably, but juicy things will happen until the very end!
Gummy Gochizos Rule the World
Guided by Director Nakazawa (?), Jiip and Lizel release gummy Gochizos developed by Nyelv⊠or at least things that look like them!

Lango: (What theâŠ)
Oh yeah, these are called Dummy Gochizos (on-set nickname: Nye-Gochi). The pink oneâs codename is âPLEâ (Pleasure) and the blue oneâs is âOPEâ (Operate).
Conditions like âI want them to have a [???] face that looks like theyâre on guard when theyâre shut!â and âThere are green-screen shots, so we canât have any lime greenâŠâ were given, and so their designs when open and closed are very different! The lower parts were designed with the Stomach familyâs monster forms in mind.

They give off immense authority from their tiny bodies. They seem to do well against humans.

Oh nooooo!! Mr. Masaru!!! (Laugh)
The âbewildermentâ shows on his face even from here.

The difference in enthusiasm between the rooms is amazing.
By the way, this was filmed when we were just beginning to feel the start of spring. Watermelons are in season now, but they obviously werenât in stores at the time, and we decided to order what was also on sale at the start of spring.
Iâm sure there are many people wondering, âSo why did you specifically decide to do a watermelon splitting game?â. Yes, it seems like weâre hiding something, but in reality, this scene at the script draft stage was Sachika and Masaru working hard at nagashisĆmen (thin white noodles).
HOWEVER!
Pay attention to this scene from the final part of episode 45, where everyone is about to begin their meeting after work.

Shoma has these noodles on standby~~ (Laugh)
Well⊠We couldâve still had it, even if it was redundant, but itâd be more exciting if it were a different thing, so there was a watermelon-splitting game in this episode instead.
As also stated in âLooking at the Next Episodeâ, the on-set rhythm is going as usual despite the production schedule being ahead of time, so scripts for an arc are made while not knowing the direction or decorations in the previous arc (as theyâre not yet set due to timing). So occasionally anomalies in the space-time continuum with things not lining up will occur.

Thanks to the director teamâs quick wit and the responsiveness of the on-set crew, this problem was turned into an opportunity! There are many times where new and wonderful direction choices have been made from things like this. They were also saved by the wisdom of their predecessors.
And speaking of responsiveness, Rakia discovers the shocking truth that the Happy Parade has a back door (which of course was decided from the start!). The camerawork had to be in sync with the many movements like the timing of Rakia turning around, the strength with which an assistant director closed the door, and the speed that he runs up at, so this was a really technical cut. It was thoroughly rehearsed and many takes were done, but it was wonderfully overcome with teamwork and concentration! Good job, everyone!
I wonder if heâll get mad at the Dummy Gochizos, who do nothing but dumb things⊠And theyâre misusing his toxins tooâŠ

Oh, he smiled to say itâs on sale to good reception! âșïž On that note, please get this very dangerous set, which is packed with Nyelvâs hard work! There are also versions with alternate expressions available to buy individually. Please take in Nyelvâs imaginativeness (Laugh).
Oh! Thereâs also a photo where the President strangely makes the same pose.

Truly a wonderful partner. đ [TN: i looked it up and yep, masashi takada, who is boccaâs suit actor, also suit acted kiramei silver]
A Sudden Parting
Nyelvâs tactic to win Shoma over failed, and nothingâs guaranteed anymore! Heâs now forced into a predicament where heâs reached the very limit of what he can do. Itâs heartbreaking.
Director Nakazawa, who gave the order, âHow about we⊠put cracks in Nyelvâs glassesâ, had the same sparkle in his eye two years ago when he said, âI want to break Buffaâs hornsâŠâ. đź

I like how cute and yet merciless they are. The nasty way that the President moves his hands was also carefully demonstrated by the director.

The part where Nyelvâs chains are broken was filmed while matching the performance and timing of his reaction with dropping the parts of the chain. Bocca and Lizel are completely devoted to being bad guys (Laugh).
Nyelv has subtly survived by changing his standpoint and enemies. With this method that heâs managed to survive this far on, he shifts in the shocking direction of the President. Until now, heâd always escaped when he wanted to, even during battles, but now it feels like what heâs been working towards, something akin to treachery, has become visible.

The TTFC members who participated as extras were probably shocked by the wound makeup on NyelvâŠ! Now theyâve finally found out why.

A proper call-and-response type of greeting (Laugh).
The planning team had many different opinions on how to depict Nyelvâs final moments. One idea was for the schemer to die nobly without even knowing that it was his schemes that did him in. In the end, it ended up being him getting a pill box [?]⊠no, pressing a switch and going, âHuh?â.

The voice-overs for the defiant words he says just before pressing the switch were spectacular!
When Siita made her exit, Takizawa thought he would surely be next. But despite his unease, he made it to the next year, returned many times, and became a character who put up a fight at the showâs climax. Nyelv might have been a science type who caused a lot of inconveniences (Laugh), but Takizawa himself is truly impressive, and it makes me want to give him many different roles. [?]

Thank you for adding your unique flavor to the program! Good work!
Now all of the scientist types have been done away with, but if you go and see the movie, there are two more. I think these new scientists will definitely pique your interest, so if you havenât seen it yet, please do so.
đ€ (The Nakazawa arcs⊠episodes 39, 40, and 47⊠Dente, Glotta, and Nyelv⊠mumble, mumbleâŠ)

WAIT!!! Director!! Did you say something to me? Please look forward to next week!!!

Episode 46 had impressive action sequences at the Presidential residence! As was written last time, Director Sugihara was the one who planned these CG assets, so he made lots of shots that full use of their advantages. You could watch it over and over again without getting bored.
The scene with the four people at the end of episode 46 was a meticulous choice that only our main director Sugihara could have made. The subtle sense of distance between the characters in it was also good. I felt the trust that the cast members have in him. Now, episodes 44-46 were Sugiharaâs last ones in this TV series. For those who want to see more of his work, the movie âKamen Rider Gavv: The Invader of the House of Sweetsâ is currently showing in theaters to rave reviews, so please immerse yourself in it at the big screen. Itâs a big hit! Thank you very much for that.
Now, episodes 47 and 48 are the third Nakazawa arc. Even though the last 2 weeks of âGozyugerâ have been Nakazawa episodesâŠ?? Due to the âRiderâ filming schedule being earlier, this kind of phenomenon can occur. We were so close to âSuper Nakazawa Timeâ⊠How unfortunate. Finally, the story is reaching its finale, and the President and Lizelâs plan will be put into motion. How do you stand up to a president this powerful? This Nakazawa arc will steadily build up the story, even while tying things into the endgame. Thank you, Director Nakazawa. TTFC members also assisted with the episode. I hope those who participated are looking forward to it. Episodes 47 and 48 will approach the greatest climax in this series. Please see it play out in real time.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 46! The three-episode Sugihara arc (shooting 3 episodes all in the same filming period) that started with episode 44 has finally drawn to a close this time!
The showâs viewers are probably not too familiar with the word âarcâ. In Kamen Rider works that have around 50 episodes, directors usually shoot 2 or 3 episodes at a time in a rotation. In Gavv, episodes 1 and 2 were a Sugihara arc, 3 and 4 were a Shibasaki arc, and 5 and 6 were a Morota arc. With that method, you can shoot a few episodes in the same filming period, and as a result, those groups of episodes are called â(director name) arcsâ.
Itâs also common for episodes 2 and 3 to follow the same story, and as a result, the satisfaction felt when watching the first episode by itself is naturally an opportunity for directors to show their abilities, as they now have to figure out how to structure episodes 2 and 3, despite those being divided between two of them. [TN: i spent 7 minutes translating this single sentence and iâm still not sure if itâs right]
Episode 46 was made with all of the last strength of Director Sugihara, who has worked on these last three episodes. I think that it turned out as an unprecedentedly rich final product (even for Gavv)

Presidential Residence Break-In!
Many scenes in episode 46 took place in the Granute realm. The Granute world has been depicted on filming sets before in things like the Dark Snack factory break-in, but this episode has the most amount of live composition shots in Gavv history, and it made full use of assets (CG spaces) made up to now.
No matter what, this episodeâs centerpiece is âthe presidential residence break-inâ. It was written in the last âLooking at the Next Episodeâ, but effectively using the presidential residence assets that have appeared in âGavvâ since its second half began was the theme of episode 46.
Live composition filming has higher calories than normal filming in many senses, but Director Sugihara was able to successfully utilize these assets for the presidential residence because he was the one who planned them.

These assets are well-known now. Live composition may look one-dimensional, but the visuals solidify when we make use of props and make it look three-dimensional.

One part of Nyelvâs secret plan to take down Bocca is a âdisguiseâ thatâs both surprising and classic.
This was done based on the theory that Granutes wouldnât notice the differences between members of the human species (like we canât easily tell apart individuals in animal species), but Chinen fit into Nyelvâs costume better than expected. They definitely look like a convincing pair of brothers!

A rare matching costume off-camera photo was also taken! Two sets of Nyelvâs costume have been prepared since the start of the seriesâ filming, since living action was also anticipated, but I didnât expect that to become useful here (Laugh).

While Shoma works hard in the Granute world, events are also happening in the human world. The scenario of Sachika facing off against Lango is one scene that the writer, Komura, had always wanted to do.
Itâs a âCEO showdownâ between Lango, who âstealsâ happiness, and Sachika, who âdeliversâ happiness. Shown in moments like Sachika witnessing Lango in episode 11, these two characters have been compared since the very beginning of planning, and they finally confront each other directly in this episode. Since itâs an important moment for Sachika, Miyabe and the director put a lot of passion into the performance.

Naoki Hosaka, who appeared in #44 as the hat-wearing man, makes an unprecendented return. He escaped trouble last time, but now he meets an unfortunate fate⊠(Laugh) The reason for his excessively flashy clothing and distinctive hat was so that heâd be recognizable across the episodesâŠ!

This is off-topic, but in this scene, you can see the hat-wearing manâs Granute form for just a little while. There might be many people thinking that theyâve seen it before, but heâs a duck, not a regular bird. As Lango put it, âYouâre just a disposable sitting duckâ. This line was in the script, and in a moment of imaginativeness, the director chose a duck Granute. The coloring resembles a duck and a green onion (Laugh). Did you notice that? [TN: 鎚ăăź, âduck and green onionâ, is a saying in japanese. itâs also the inspiration for the pokĂ©mon farfetchâd!]

Granute Realm Decisive Battle
This was also written about a little at the start, but in regards to depicting the infiltration of the presidential residence, there are many direction choices that are uniquely Sugihara-sequence. For example, when showing the âexterior appearanceâ, the bridge in front thatâs normally used is shot in a different way from usual.
The âassetsâ used to create Gavvâs Granute realm are made in the game engine âUnreal Engineâ, and there are no usual backdrops; the entire âspacesâ are designed with it. Directors deciding where to place their cameras in those spaces and a backdrop being output to match it gives them a lot of freedom, so Director Sugihara not only focuses on appearance, but also designs the spaces in a way where they could be filmed effectively.

In summary, âThe more familiar a director is with the assets, the more things will become useful!â. You can see many shots in episode 46 that effectively use assets which havenât been seen before.
Even in the action scene, there were many shots, like the one looking up at all of the presidentâs bodyguards in the atrium, that made me awed and say, âI didnât know you could show it this way!â.

The action where Shoma dodges a lot of flying knives at a high speed is a unique Sugihara-Fujita combo! The free-running fight set to the song âShake It Offâ makes you feel really good when you watch it. Itâs well understood what Director Sugihara has said about this episodeâs fight being a culmination of all the action in Gavv, and I think this viewing experience couldnât have been done by any other duo.
By the way, Boccaâs special ability has become clear in this episode, and itâs âforcing others to do what he saysâ. Iâm sure heâs used this power in terrible ways for politics⊠Many different unique Granute abilities like Lage9âs âhappiness essenceâ have appeared, but this one is very difficult to handle.

The action at the mansion that Iâve been talking about makes heavy use of composition, but there was also living action on filming locations. The Granute realm has a distinctive reddish tinge to it, and it was also shown well in a forest with red lighting and smoke. Since weâd get the strongest reaction in a night scene, the unusual choice was made to start filming in the evening and shoot the action in the dead of night. (Thank you for your hard work, staff and cast members!)
The hardcore live composition action was a highlight too, but with things like the acrobatic action that has Bocca suspended in midair, itâs clear that living action just canât be outdone!

The Riders safely returned from the Granute world. In the final scene, Shoma sees his feelings in a new light and regains his determination. There are still enemies to defeat, but now heâs prepared to face the big battles that are sure to come.

Next time, what the fate of the selfish Nyelv become? New Gochizos will appear, and the Presidentâs largest plan yet will be put into motion. Please look forward to it!

i guess the change is because a word like 'swoon' isnt that common in japan (i think? dont quote me on this-) while 'fell' has the same dual connotations and is more likely to be understood.
oh ok! donât know how i missed that

Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 45 Production Blog Translation
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this page
Looking at the Next Episode
Shoma has gone to the Granute realm with NyelvâŠ! What will happen in the next episode?! Episode 46 is another Sugihara episode. Episodes 44-46 were all done by him.
The white room in the Presidential residence has appeared since the Morota arc in episodes 29 and 30, but Director Sugihara was the one who built the plan for these new assets (CG backgrounds). Entering from the door, overlooking from above, and the appearance of the Presidential residence were all situations kept in mind while designing it. It took a while to make, so we should use these assets to the furthest extent⊠That was the behind-the-scenes theme for episode 46. To be honest, I canât say that the live composition was very compatible with the furiously-moving action. Live composition requires you to take positions with markers while filming with a green screen, and the footage is completed in real time⊠(Can you imagine how difficult it is?) But this is Director Sugihara and Action Director Fujita! Their action will be even better than before. I hope you look forward to it! Donât miss it!
And the summer movie âKamen Rider Gavv: The Invader of the House of Sweetsâ, which premiered on July 25th, is currently a big hit in theaters thanks to you! Thank you very much. âGavvâsâ summer movie is not set in between any two particular episodes. However, it does have some continuity with the TV series. You can only experience this now, so please do so. The next episode will already broadcast in August. Please enjoy âGavvâ until the very end.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 45!

The movie and TV series are both Sugihara works right in the middle of being delivered. With Director Sugihara, who has spent the most time with this cast, each story is moving towards the climax.
Nyelv in the Happy Parade
Even Nyelvâs actor Takizawa himself said, âIt doesnât suit me~â when he visited the Happy Parade and persuaded Shoma. He feels incredibly out-of-place.

Even though this episodeâs subtitle isnât âThe Approaching Spectaclesâ⊠(Laugh) He steadily drives Shoma into a wall with clever words. Nyelv has quite a sizable amount of lines here, but with the control that Takizawa has over his expression and voice, which the director team trusts in deeply, itâs far from boring and rather gradually pulls you in instead.
The next episode will also depict these pieces of him, but Nyelvâs feelings and many different attitudes were expressed in every line of his, and his motives and truths that we havenât seen much of until now seem to slip in and out of view.
âYou could do it this way, itâll show up even if you donât say itâ and âYouâre really exceeding my expectationsâ. With those words, the director gave instructions to a player who can already be called a directorâs nightmare, and added a hand movement where he plays with a gummy and drops it.

It shows that this is a big move to win over Shoma for his ambition to change the Granute world and Stomach family, using Shoma (Gavv), who is expressed by the gummy.
Nyelvâs character song, âThe Formulaâ, was created when an episode around this point was being written, so his way of life of tenaciously surviving while constantly changing his position and figuring many things out, like âIf this doesnât work, Iâll try this next timeâŠâ, and his ambitions that he coolly hides away, are packed into the lyrics. If you listen to it again, especially after hearing him speak his mind this time, its meaning might changeâŠ? đ§Ș

In the MV, he performs in a space that suits him overwhelmingly better than the Happy Parade, so please look forward to the Kamen Rider Gavv CD box and Blu-Ray.
By the way, this isnât the first time that Takizawa has set foot in the Happy Parade. In the Blu-Ray collectionâs bonus video, the Stomach family gathers in the Happy Parade and a strange game contest unfolds between both groups, so itâs a must-see for anyone who still hasnât seen it.
Nyelv is good at negotiation. It seems like he was aware of the amount of Human Presses needed to completely win Shoma over.

What will the future of the human world be!?
Rakia Speaks Out
Rakia is checking to see that the medicine that Dente left behind can neutralize his poison.

Come to think of it, this place used to be a laboratory. Itâs a great coincidence that it has Komagome pipettes.
In a previous Sugihara arc, specifically episode 35, Rakia showed that he doesnât want Sachika to know about his time in the Stomach Company. In a following Sugihara arc, the time has finally come for Rakia to reveal the secret.
A beaker falling when Rakia tries to approach Sachika after changing into his human form, and Sachika being startled by that sound, was a direction choice that Director Sugihara added to depict the depth of Sachikaâs inner feelings. She was frightened by Rakia approaching her⊠Having that come across like that takes sublime skill.
It seems like Rakia has been choked up by something Sachika said before. He looks small even though heâs 187 centimeters tall.

Sachika hasnât sorted out her feelings, and Hanto isnât sure who to support⊠This scene was full of changes for each of the three characters.

Walking in time with Sachika, wordlessly moving closer to her, and handing her a drink he bought⊠Hantoâs diligent movements chosen by the director make him a devoted man. By the way, Iâm glad that Rakia seems to like the goldfish rocks a lot. (Laugh)

Sachika had been hesitant, but she sees how much Rakia has changed from that time and decides to support him.

Our CEO! Just as weâd expect. Please hire me! And next time, she has a chance meeting with a certain âformer CEOâ⊠Itâs a bit worrying, but letâs fight!
A Fortune-Telling Hustler Crab
A welcome relief (?) from episode 45, which was filled with tense and careful portrayals of emotions, was a Granute disguised as a fortune-teller named âTe SĆâ [TN: romanization pending, but itâs derived from æçž âtesĆâ, which means âpalm readingâ].
âŠNo, Iâm not kidding! That really is his name. (Laugh)

âSeems like your wealth will growâŠâ? He has a bright lemon-yellow body.

(And right after I wrote that, Shoma appears with a super yellow jacketâŠ)
His human formâs actor, Tomonori Mizuno, spread ad-libs throughout his performance and including voice-overs, making for a hearty crab character. Hold on, why are the crab-like Granutes the only ones with such strong personalities? (Laugh) Itâs been a little while since the last âguest monsterâ battle. The battle made full use of the signature Gavv flair.
Lizel is ladylike as ever. She grabs Shomaâs hand without looking, and destroys buildings while spectating!

Her parasol is ridiculously powerful⊠She would consider the fang-like marks left in the remains to be âcuteâ. The interiors of the buildings were fairly damaged from that attack, and that makes you realize once again how unendingly scary she can be.
Lizel was filmed sitting on the edge of the building while taking safety precautions.

Itâs fairly tall when you look from above, and it seems like it was a memorable filming session for Kamata as well!

âAh, it seems like your fortune will increase if you go and see the Gavv movieâŠâ We ask for your continued support of both the movie and the TV series!

Kamen Rider Zeztz Actor Announcement Translation
saw that this existed and apparently it has a bit of info in it so⊠here we go!
TOKU TRANSLATION MASTERPOST HERE
translated from this page
Breaking News! The Highly-Anticipated Protagonist of âKamen Rider Zeztzâ is⊠Ryutaro Imai!
âKamen Rider Zeztzâ has been a massive topic from the very second that information was revealed for it on July 6th (Sunday), where the shocking teaser movie and especially the first belt worn across the chest in Kamen Rider series history, the âZeztz Driverâ made a powerful impact. It instantly became a popular subject on SNS, and became the #1 worldwide trending topic. It is under the attention and expectations of the whole world.
For this occasion, the energetic actor Ryutaro Imai has been selected for the role of Baku Yorozu, the protagonist who transforms into Zeztz! This is Imaiâs first lead role in a TV drama.
Dreams Come True on the Third Try! The Dynamic and Lively Actor, Ryutaro Imai!
At 181 centimeters tall, Imai is a young acting talent who has given enthusiastic performances in âGTO Revivalâ (2024, Fuji TV) and âBillion x Schoolâ (2024, Fuji TV), all while active as a regular model in the magazine âFINEBOYSâ.
This work was his third audition for a Kamen Rider work. The third time truly was the charm for him to get the leading role spot. The character of Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz is still wrapped in mystery, but it is known that he is an agent who infiltrates the dreams of humans and carries out missions. He quickly switches between many different costumes that hide his identity while in a dream, and Imai will put his skills with wearing clothes fashionably and refining his appearance that he gained as a model on full display.
Showing Passionate Enthusiasm âfor a Work that Encourages People with DreamsâŠâ!
Imai declared his feelings about winning the Rider lead role heâd dreamed about with a clear smile, saying, âThe first emotion I felt was incredible happiness! This was actually my third time auditioning for a Rider work. This time, I did the audition prepared to fail since it seemed like I had bad luck with Rider, so it made me really happy. Becoming a Rider has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and now itâs finally come true!â.
Regarding the âZeztz Driverâ, the first belt in series history to be worn across the chest, he revealed that even while he was surprisedââMy first impression was âHuh, it goes across the chestâŠ!âââthe innovative design makes his heart pound, and that âIâm happy that this is my âfirst timeâ, and Iâd like to create a new hero that makes you think, âThis new belt is so cool!â.â
Furthermore, he showed strong enthusiasm towards playing the main role: âI want to make something that encourages people who have dreams and are working hard towards their goals. And Iâll work hard every week to deliver fun and joy to everyone watching.â
Comments from Ryutaro Imai (portraying Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz)
Please tell us about what you felt when you were chosen to play the protagonist.
The first emotion I felt was incredible happiness! I myself loved âKamen Rider Wâ when I was little, and I remember learning about âwhat strength isâ. Becoming a Rider has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and now itâs finally come true! Since this is the lead role in an important work, as happy as I am, I feel pressure and fear just as much. This was actually my third time auditioning for a Rider work. Iâd progressed to the final round of a previous one, but I was very frustrated with all of them. This time, I did the audition prepared to fail since it seemed like I had bad luck with Rider, so it made me really happy.
What are things youâre keeping in mind for the role of Baku Yorozu/Kamen Rider Zeztz?
While Iâm always tense on the filming sets, I keep things important for filming in mind during each and every scene. I think I should especially try to do things that set an example for children from now on.
What were your thoughts when you learned you would play an agent who sneaks into âdreamsâ?
I think that âdreamsâ are things that everyone have, and motivations for people to work hard. I canât let people mess around with them. Baku and I both feel this way. He and I share the desire to protect and help people who are dreaming.
Zeztz transforms with the âZeztz Driverâ, the first belt in Kamen Rider history to be worn across the chest. What were your thoughts when you first heard that?
I was told about the âcross-body beltâ after I passed the audition, and my first impression was âHuh, it goes across the chestâŠ!â Iâm happy that this is my âfirst timeâ, and Iâd like to create a new hero that makes you think, âThis different and new belt is so cool!â
What was difficult when you started filming? What made you happy instead?
At the start, voice-overs were difficult. It was my first tokusatsu work and there were a lot of things I didnât understand, so I carefully studied action and voice-overs from Rider history, but I struggled on how to express the voice when in battle. A happy moment⊠definitely the best one was when I said âTransform!â for the first time. Doing transformation scenes is incredibly exciting even to me, and when I see Zeztz on the set every day, I go, âAaah, Zeztz is so cool!â.
Please give a message to the audience!
I think that âdreamsâ are things that everyone has and is able to achieve. I want to make something that encourages people who have dreams and are working hard towards their goals. And Iâll work hard every week to deliver fun and joy to everyone watching.

i think i posted about this before but i just wanted to say that i am indeed now working on the yume nikki fangame mod for zeztz. should probably do a formal explanation because idk how many times iâll be asked what the fuck this isâŠ
THE ZEZTZ YUME NIKKI MOD PROJECT
this is a personal project to create a mod for a yume nikki fangame that reskins the protagonistâs sprites to the appearance of kamen rider zeztz. each effect is a different rider form or something similar.
what are yume nikki fangames?
yume nikki fangames are fangames inspired by the 2004 dream exploration game âyume nikkiâ (steam | play online). yume nikki is a game made in RPG maker 2003 that follows a girl named madotsuki. she refuses to leave her room and spends most of the game going to sleep and freely wandering the surreal and atmospheric worlds of her dreams as she collects âeffectsâ. ynfgs, in turn, tend to traditionally follow a similar formula, though often changing at least one of the traits i listed above. different protagonists will have different dreams, and that changes the entire game.
the yume nikki fangame (ynfg) that i chose to mod is oversomnia. (wamby, if you want me to take the mod down at any point, please contact me and i will do so.)
for background, i myself am a dev whoâs contributed to the collaborative ynfg âcollective unconsciousâ. check that out too itâs awesome and everyone else whoâs contributed has made super awesome stuff
why oversomnia?
oversomnia is one of my favorite ynfgs, and it happens to have a lot of traits that makes it a good fit for a project like this:
14 effects as of current patch. yume nikki has 24 effects, and a lot of the other fangames iâd like to mod have that many or even more. given that zeztz only has 4 known forms as of now and iâm not sure how many more heâll have by the end, having 14 effects to mod feels much less daunting, while also giving me enough that i have room to work within.
masculine protagonist. this may sound trivial but using a ynfg protagonist as a drawing reference is so much easier when they have the same hair length and donât wear a skirt.
lore that doesnât clash. oversomnia has slightly more clear-cut lore than most other popular ynfgs (and even some character dialogue), but itâs not too harsh of a contrast against the tone or story that a kamen rider season usually has. iâm even thinking it might be fun to resprite some NPCs to other zeztz characters (definitely lucky).
i just really like it. like i said, itâs one of my favorites, and thatâs going to make this project even more fun for me.
the only issue i have with doing oversomnia is that it doesnât have a small effect and i only found out that zeztzâs paradigm wonder form can turn small after i decided on oversomnia. wamby if you could add one in an update before the show ends in august 2026 i will do anything for you
other candidates i had in mind were collective unconscious (iâm a dev for it and love it to death, and it only has 11 effects currently, but build access is very exclusive, there are a ton of alt skins, and it updates pretty frequentlyâŠ) and unaccomplished (another favorite that i helped with the english translation of, but the â11 effectsâ stat is misleading in at least 3 separate ways for this one and it would be a massive and unpredictable challenge)
besides the lack of a small effect, oversomnia is the perfect fit for this project. i highly recommend that you check out the vanilla version because itâs awesome
what is kamen rider zeztz?
in march, the trademark for the next kamen rider season, âkamen rider zeztzâ, was released. people noticed that the logo looked like âZZZâ, and theorized that its theme might be sleep or dreams.
i initially brushed this off but then realized what that would mean for me, whose two major interests are kamen rider and ynfgs. two months later i decided that i would mod yume nikki or a ynfg in the way iâve already described. i have not lost sight of that goal.
then it was announced that zeztz will air in the US which means i can tell other yume nikki fans to watch it without the 50 disclaimers about which sites and subs to use and how to use the sites!! yeah i will be insufferable for the next year.
about kamen rider itself⊠kamen rider is a japanese tokusatsu (special effects action) superhero franchise thatâs been going since 1971. thereâs been a new kamen rider show with a different cast, story, and theme every year since 2000. shared visual motifs across the shows are using belts to transform into a rider and mid-air ârider kickâ finishing moves. a shared thematic motif is âusing evil power for goodâ. also, the villains in the original kamen rider show were nazis, so thatâs fun trivia.
when will the mod be done?
i plan to release incomplete versions of the mod as the show progresses, though that might change. since iâll be adding sprites as new forms appear in the show, it wonât be fully complete until at least june, when final forms usually debut.
iâm going at a pretty good pace right now, but the school year starts in a few weeks and i expect to be very busy during it. iâm not sure how much time iâll have to work on it.
on the bright side i am making this mod purely for myself and i donât expect for anyone else to use it so there wonât be a lot of pressure to make it quickly.

translated from this website
Looking at the Next Episode
The reunion with Hajime was a happy moment. Mixing with the people heâs metâ seeing what Shoma was like in the early days made me feel nostalgic. Itâs a little different when he has companions alongside him. Episode 44 was an episode where truths that hadnât been shown before now were put in during rehearsals. On the day of the Hero Festival (EiyĆ« Sai), I was crammed in the venueâs conference room until just before the curtain rose, having been told, âall of the people involved should be in here!â, and the scriptwriting meeting we had in there is a memory Iâll never forget. ^^
Soon, the summer movie will premiere on July 25th before episode 45 airs next time! Itâs become a work that Iâd love for you to see on the big screen (even though I always say this), so everyone, you should definitely go and see it at the theater! And since the irregular staff rotation will continue in the TV series, episodes 45 and 46 will be directed by Teruaki Sugihara. Please soak up the plentiful Sugihara content this summer. When heâs working with Action Director Fujita, theyâre unstoppable!
Iâm sure some have become curious about this from the trailer and the âShake It Offâ climax PV, but why is Shoma with Nyelv? Where are they going? The episodeâs subtitle may give you a hintâŠ
Next episode will be a full-power display of Nyelvâs true abilities, so please look forward to it. Since Takizawaâs single-scene first appearance at the beginning, he has firmly established the character of Nyelv. There have been many meaningful smiles from Nyelv before a cut to commercials or in the last moment of an episode. Whatâs nyel-behind it? Takizawa also has a great amount of experience with work on stage shows, and that helps him to show his hidden strengths. Heâs also worked on a stage show with Komura as its writer, which led to her recommending him. How will the Stomach siblings end up? I hope you enjoy watching âGavvâ until the end, along with the summer movie.
(Written by Naomi Takebe)
The Episode in Short
Thank you for watching episode 44!
There are probably many people who have been watching since the very beginning (!?). This is not a rerun of episode 1. The title of this episode is a line from the lyrics of the theme song, âGod Boost?â [TN: the producer made a typo point and laugh].
Gavv is approaching its final part, and the battles with the Granutes will only escalate, but episode 44 began with a reunion with the boy who found Shoma in episode 1 and reflected on a long-gone past.

This episode is what people call a âclip episodeâ, but since itâs also boring to just re-edit old footage like normal, we concentrated on devising a structure for it. There were also special clips that exposed ânew truthsâ from the perspectives of many characters, similar to a multi-protagonist story, or tied into the summer movie. With that logic, letâs look back on the uniquely-flavored episode 44!
đ I Found a Kamen Rider
This line from young Hajime, being a symbol of the concepts seen early on in âGavvâ of âa Kamen Rider being picked upâ and âa boy who accidentally finds himâ, was a phrase that the planning team also liked a lot.
It was also a candidate for the title of episode 1, but in the end, it wasnât used in the actual story. However, since this episode would look back on everything since episode 1, it was the perfect place to use it.
Iâm sure many people were surprised by the return of Hajime Hiroi that was written about previously!

Hajimeâs actor Ayaki Hirano has grown and his voice has changed a little since we last saw him, which surprised all of the staff members (Laugh).
However, Chinenâs expressions have also become more mature compared to episode 1 and he has become more dignified. We could feel his growth.

This episodeâs director was Teruaki Sugihara, the pilot director of our âGavvâ.
Since Sugihara was the one who selected both Chinen and Hirano at auditions, the filming staff and the director all certainly must have felt like they were filming their own children in this second co-appearance (Laugh).
Director Sugihara being the one in charge of this episode was a factor in it having a story.

This is a digression, but there are Gochizos designed by Takijima-P on the cover of âGavvâsâ scripts, and the main Gochizo of the given episode would be on its cover.
For episode 44, the ZakuZaku Chips Gochizo that debuted in episode 2 was drawn.

đ
The Stomach Companyâs Little-Known Reality
In the shadow of Shoma and Hajimeâs reunion, this episode also focuses on the Stomach Company. A certain part-timer of the company. It seemed like the awfulness of the Stomach Company was fully known after their human world debut, butâŠ
Through the viewpoint of a Granute (a victim, in a sense?), looking back on the Kamen Ridersâ battles becomes somewhat fresh, too. Naoki Hosaka played this episodeâs part-timer in a bizarre fashion. Iâm glad he barely managed to escapeâŠ!

There were replay-like aspects of this episode, but Director Fujita also took it on with a fresh approach! From Nyelvâs lovely fight to the complicated action in a back alley [?], it was enchanting even though the moments were brief. Nyelvâs actor Takizawa does dance all the time, so the sober action with light movement was also his forte!

Nyelvâs weapon was bow-shaped, but this time, it somehow became a pair of swords! Upon Action Director Fujitaâs request, a weapon with 2-in-1 use between a bow and dual swords was adopted, and he used it to the fullest in this episodeâs action. Youâd think Nyelv is a long-range type of guy, but he can also do scrappy close-range fights, and itâs so cunning and coolâŠ!

And this may have been another big surprise, but Glotta and Siita returned! Is this another rare technique? They reflect on their battles as their lives play in front of them. And there are other parts of the episode that reflect its title, but when you think about how all of the Stomach siblings have fought against the Kamen Riders with their own reasons, itâs a little heartbreaking.
It was Director Sugiharaâs choice to have them lie defeated amongst white feathers. I hear there were a lot of feathers not cleaned up that were left on the set afterwards⊠Why feathers⊠Please give it a guess.

Glottaâs final episode was a Nakazawa set (episode 40), and there werenât any plans for her to return during that episodeâs filming, but Chitose was overjoyed to see Director Sugihara again for another appearance!

As an interesting thing to show in a clip episode, we tried to not end at the usual reflection, and to also reveal ânew informationâ.
One of those details was âLangoâs assassination of Boucheâ.
Itâs fairly shocking information, but it shows how cool-headed Lango is. We didnât know the limit to this familyâs darkness⊠Iâd like you to pay attention to Langoâs actions and his quest for revenge from here on out.

Furthermore, since this is right before the movieâs release, there are also special clips that connect to the movie.
With this being an episode by Director Sugihara, who also worked as the movieâs director, he could also do this trial as a TV episode that broadcasts before the summer movieâs premiere. Please see for yourself the world thatâs somewhat different from âGavvâsâ, and the secrets of this one, at the movie theater.

Next time, a certain action of Nyelv will cause the story to move in big ways. Nyelv follows a Gochizo that leads him to a surprising place. Make sure not to miss it!
