this show spends so much time in the world of patriarchy and capitalism and a shallow reading of the show ends up at “everyone is so sexist to shiv ugh problematic” and then an episode like this comes along and jesse armstrong says actually i do have an equally nuanced and complex understanding of women and mothers and daughters in this world dominated by men and the cruelties it makes women visit upon each other often while rendering them incapable of recognizing it as cruelty, or at least making them indifferent to it
