Mid season 5. Idk i like Taylor im sorryyyy. Finishing ep 7 and like she is a greta journalist???? I agree good journalists shouldn’t just depend on police records and she is so smart im very impressed with how deep she investigates herself and the sources she has. She def has some unresolved trauma about something that she never found the truth about or found it too late, because of how defensive she got telling buck “the truth means everything”. Ik she did a report on the 118 that fucked them up later in the season (yes i saw the spoilers) but idk Buck can’t have his cake and eat hers too. He can’t date a reporter and then expect her to not give a report on a guy who was responsible of multiple deaths just because it might reflect badly on Buck’s team. Like obviously i care about the 118 more than about Taylor, but she’s a reporter that truly cares about her job and giving the public the truth with no filters. And I genuinely respect the hell out of that. Buck had to know that since day 1, just like for him is important to save lives, is important to Taylor to give people the full truth of things that happen.

Maybe i’ll be annoyed with Taylor when i get to it, maybe I won’t. So far, i can see how her and Buck might nor work together, but i don’t see why the fandom dislikes her. Wanting buddie shouldn’t be an excuse for people to overly judge every single female character the writers put on Eddie or Buck’s way lmao. Taylor def cares for him, and cares for her job. Them not working out does not mean she is mean. And even if buddie is better, Taylor is the only girl Buck has had chemistry with lmao. Every single girl before has just felt like Buck chasing cardboard with the lack of chemistry. Again, even if buddie is better, he has good chemistry with Taylor. And she’s a sweet smart girl. I like her a lot. Even if not with Buck, i just like her character a lot (and yes im a little biased bc i compare it to reality, where i def want my journalists to tell me the plain truth).

Edit: typed all this, clicked play to finish ep 7 bc i was on the last 5 mins, and immediately saw that Taylor very much has unresolved trauma LMAOOOO. I guess someone in her family was murdered by that doctor?? Which like my god if someone in charged of her family’s health purposely killed them how could she NOT give the full report about the guy at the 118 playing god??? Hits so close go home. I would also disregard Buck’s feelings lmao. Like she did what i imagine she wished someone had done for her case, bring attention to it and expose the truth publicly. Not boyfriend should get in the way of that. I understand why Buck is mad, but I defend Taylor from the people here!!!! All i kept seeing in spoilers is how bad she was for doing it, and even before getting to that ep i can see why its so important to her and its so valid!!!!! Y’all need to stop demonizing my girl Taylor.

I so agree with everything you said. The difference of reactions when you didn't ship their previous relationship vs when you don't ship B/T is very telling (same with the fact that when some people talked about a cheating storyline, the reactions were always "it would be bad for Buck to do this to Tommy" but apparently it would have been okay if Eddie did this to a woman?? okay lmao)

What I don't understand is how people say that it's Buck's most developed LI/relationship. Like? We don't know that much about him. People have created (themselves and via the actor's cameos) lots of headcanons but that doesn't mean that they are canon.

To me, he really still feels like a love interest device for now. Like with the scene of the kiss in the last episode, they could have include some mentions of another date, whether past or a future one, but they didn't. The kiss was just there to be able to have Buck come out to the rest of the family, but it didn't bring anything more about B/T (we don't know if they saw each other since the coffee date/if it was their second kiss or if there was already more).

Literally. Like, look, I will say one thing, if buddie had hooked up at that bachelor party only one person would be cheating and that's Eddie. Buck and Tommy did not have a we're exclusive talk. They actually had a we can figure things out as we go talk. Personally, I don't think that counts as an we are together conversation, but that's my opinion. But either way no one seemed to care about the Eddie side of it. Eddie who is literally in a relationship serious enough he asked her to move in with him the episode before. But sure, that doesn't count because they hate Edy and forget Marisol exists (I do too, but I spent the whole time saying we shouldn't make the bisexual dude help his best friend cheat because I did not forget Eddie would be cheating and that would be bad no matter what). And to say T is the most developed love interest is a straight up lie. Taylor had a whole season as Buck's friend before they got together. She had a personality, flaws, qualities, she even got her very own tragic background episode. Say what you want about anything, and yes they sucked as a couple, but bucktaylor was developed. On screen. To a point where if the show actually wanted to, which they clearly didn't because they used the s4 Taylor development to stir her away from Buck instead of closer, they could've made bucktaylor work, they just had to make her as intense about Buck as she is with the job, and they could've been a very interesting golden retriever boyfriend/black cat girlfriend dynamic (good god I can't believe this fandom is making me defend fucking bucktaylor). Buck and T had one scene alone before they were kissing. Tommy has no established personality. Pretty much everything about him besides the begins episodes part of him (that dont paint him in the best light) we learned second hand. Through interviews. It's not even things that are being said to the audience in the show. I'm pretty sure the only things we learned from the show are the way he's a pilot, he was in the army, he likes wrestling, cars, and basketball. I could be wrong, fandom annoyed me so much I blackout every time I see him at this point. But he's not developed? He's just a guy? Don't get me wrong, he could be developed. There is space for it. But right now, he is there to serve as a device for Buck to find his bisexuality and that's it. They kissed twice. They went on half a date T left in the middle of. They went out for coffee and decided to figure things out as they went. He was at the hospital after the wedding to work as a way for Buck to come out without making him go around telling everyone. He exists around Buck. And that's it. Personally I don't see the endgame material people keep seeing. I don't see the development either. And anyone can headcanon anything, really go off, have fun with your ship, but people seriously need to stop acting like what Lou is saying in cameos counts as canon. Being in the fandom right now is exhausting because people just decided things about T and BT that are not backed by canon and they get real aggressive if you don't agree. I seriously am dying to see what's gonna happen if canon goes against the idealized version of him fanon created. I don't know if it's gonna happen but by god will I be entertained by it if it does.

i am back to state my case on seteth x jeralt! being totally honest the biggest appeal of this ship is less about the actual romantic chemistry and moreso about how interesting their interactions could be IF THEY HAD ANY !! the fact that they are both connected to the church and have a history with rhea and they don't speak to each other like AT ALL in canon is nuts to me. there's so many missed conversation opportunities of things they have in common on top of having ties to rhea. they both enjoy fishing. they are both fathers. they both are inhumanly old yet don't physically show it. they both hold a lot of secrets. they both have children they want to protect - seteth could learn a lot of parenting tips from jeralt, and vice versa, since....both of them definitely have room to improve, to say the least. DJaimon illustrated some supports between seteth and jeralt that played no small part in leading me to think they need to talk to each other SO BAD.

having no supports even in the spinoff which was created for the sole purpose of giving us more fe3h content is unbelievable. jeralt got supports with manuela (love her, but why?) but didn't get supports with seteth or alois. alois, y'know, someone who considers jeralt like a father figure, comparing himself to byleth as like an older brother? jeralt even has a whole paralogue battle with byleth and leonie. and i know it's been discussed here before that it's unrealistic to expect writers to write supports for every single character pairing, but come on. at least in fewth this would've been the closest jeralt would get to having a support chain with rhea, which would've been so interesting. but oh well. he doesn't speak a single word to seteth. seteth, who is rhea's closest confidant and yet knows so little about why jeralt left the church. seteth, who oversaw the knights of seiros while he was leading it. seteth, who grows close to his child and has his daughter join their class. that requires so much trust.

even though they dont canonically interact, they have every reason to, and its impossible for them to have not interacted in the past. jeralt was the head of the knights of seiros and very close to rhea, and since seteth both oversees the knights of seiros and is close to rhea, of course he would have interacted with him. i think there is a very interesting dynamic to be had here. especially considering jeralt eventually betrays rhea due to what she did to his child and flees, but does come back to the church, that gives seteth so much reason to question him. he already questions if byleth can be trusted, but when he finds out more about why jeralt left (reading his diary), he starts to question rhea ("what did you do to that baby, rhea? nothing...questionable, i should hope?"), sowing seeds of mistrust. i think jeralt's interference with rhea can provide so much conflict for seteth. i think seteth should suffer more and battle within himself whether he is doing the right thing siding with rhea or not. and knowing jeralt, he would probably challenge seteth more directly on that. theres so many things they can bond over. theres so many things they can challenge one another's beliefs over. theres so much to talk about and yet they never get to talk and it makes me explode inside.

and finally, why they would be a good couple ..... idk man i just like dilfs. this is the old man yaoi all the cool kids are talking about. there's fluctuating power dynamics and trust issues and fatherly bonding and all kinds of things that could be explored. plus, i really like seteth as a character and have wanted to ship him with someone, but seteth x byleth has never appealed to me. most byleth ships aren't appealing to me personally. but seteth x byleth's dad.... oh boy. there's so much to be explored here helped in no small part by zero canon interaction. these are prime shipping conditions. all of it is up to interpretation and fan creation. and brother i'm about to go buck wild. in fact, i already have. who's with me!!!!

exactly! i wanted to like tommy tbh i liked him in 703 and 704. 705 was meh to me. i couldnt really find it in myself to care because the entire episode was about buck freaking out about telling eddie. 706 just made me ???? because of the bachelor party scenes. like why are we having the new bf dismiss buck at every turn while eddie is all in if they want us to root for this man. he wouldve had to change at work anyway so why didnt he dress up. then again in 709 he’s just shooting down bucks joy with the “enjoy it while it lasts” thing and then we already discussed 710. like sure buck made it a bit jokey but then tommy sounded completely serious when he said “no i dont. i hope you do though!” im someone who’s very sarcastic in her own humor and i couldnt tell he was joking. like i get that they want tommy to be snarky or whatever but something about it just falls flat for me. some of the comments he makes feel like stuff he shouldn’t feel comfortable saying yet to someone he’s only started seeing in the past couple months.

also the evan thing confuses me because lou said on cameo the script supervisor told him he isnt allowed to call buck ‘buck’. i wonder if thatll ever be addressed in s8 because that feels weird to me. especially since buck has insisted people call him buck in the past but idk if thats even anything to actually think about. like im not sure if the writers just dont know what to do with this man or if they’re actually writing him to be a short term thing. its so easy to add depth to their relationship and open up a chance to be vulnerable but they either choose not to entirely or give those moments to eddie -birthmark anon

I saw how you all loved that they gave Tommy a personality and made a great character out of him. Where is this energy for Marisol? I understand that some characters exist to push certain stories or characters forward. That's pretty normal. Some characters are not meant to be main characters. but SOMEHOW this show, with all its gender fuckery galore and all its well written characters, has somehow made me look at the mizu/akemi ship and say "i'll pass." like dont get me wrong i was pinning my hopes on it initially in the first episode, but by the time i got to the end??? NAH.

like don't get me wrong they ARE cute and sexy on paper and i DO definitely see them developing feelings for each other (mizu towards akemi especially, less so the other way around because akemi just does not strike me as the pining type) but for an endgame? nah. it'd be weird and messy for both of them like!!! they'd be bad for each other!!!

they both want and need completely different things in life (mizu wants vengeance but needs acceptance/belonging; akemi wants freedom but needs autonomy and empowerment).

and they don't even share much in common that would help them bond in a romantic way? like not even interests-wise, but like. personality-wise too. their perceptions of life and approaches and experiences all directly contrast each other. like i know that they're narrative foils and all, which is great, excellent really, but romantically? there is no common ground between them.

besides, of course, both being AFAB and struggling with the patriarchy and misogyny, both having a surrogate father figure who raised them (swordfather for mizu; seki for akemi). aside from those things, they diverge in almost every single way?

like i do get the appeal of the "yin and yang" dynamic of opposites attract in ships (i have so many such ships from other fandoms after all), so i do suppose that, if given enough time for a really long and intense slow burn, it could work. but with all the plot plot plot the show's got going on, i don't know if that's going to be possible, especially now that mizu is ??? apparently going to london ????

and what would their endgame even look like? the two of them running off into the sunset together? why? when akemi has everything she wants and needs in edo palace? which, by the way, is completely the opposite of what mizu wants and needs, as mizu needs a place where she is free to be herself and is accepted and loved for who she is. she does not need, nor want, a life of political intrigue. she is not made for it, nor is it meant for her. akemi, on the other hand, is perfectly suited for such a life, while being completely unsuited for a life on the road, travelling, or living on a farm in the middle of nowhere. nor would akemi like or enjoy such a life either! she'd get freedom, yes, but it would hardly be fulfilling, especially now that she has decided that she wants greatness!

i don't know. if they become canon endgame, the show better put in the work. because this is a netflix adult animated show with the freedom to do that (unlike, say, cartoons on nickelodeon and disney where the creators all faced heavy censorship to get some rep in), so if they're taking the sapphic endgame route, they better buck up and put their backs into it because seeing the state of it right now, the chemistry is bone-dry and the prospects are disastrous!!!!

Mood Board for my 9-1-1 OC Melanie "Mel" Narvaez. She's quite literally all i can think about. Might make one for her girlfriend Daphne "Dee" Monroe. Obviously another OC. They're super Bubbeline coded btw. This is for a seperate fic idea that's not on my pinned post. I think I'm gonna call it LAFD: Fire Queers (🔥🏳️‍🌈 if ya wanna make me write the drabbles). Its about Buck being a bisexual disaster (affectionate) and his relationship with being bi and with Hen and Eddie (cuz yes even tho i ship Bucktommy i still headcanon Eddie as queer and this story is about Buck's queerplatonic relationships mostly) but also diving into his relationship with Tommy and Buck just not being chill about it at all. Also Maddie supremacy (cuz i have a big fat gay crush on her) so she makes an appearance (actually many) starting with when Chim promised to take her to get her nails done but ended up having to work so he asks Buck to go with her and on a whim decides to get his nails done too when Maddie makes a joke saying it would be fun if they got matching nails and he says it sounds like fun and she meant it as a joke but if her baby brother really wants to she'll support him so they decide on blue and this is just the start of a long habit of her enabling his fashion experimenting now that he's not bogged down by a girlfriend's expectation of his manliness. Now dont get him wrong he's still masculine and he's still buck he just doesnt give a shit what anyone thinks if he decides to enjoy pretty things, nice things (cuz like he told Tommy: "I deserve nice things" "yes you do baby"). Maybe it never would've crossed his mind if Maddie had never said that but she planted the seed and he's having fun with himself and Tommy doesnt mind (finds it endearing actually) and Maddie enables him so he'll keep it up just as long as he sees fit (but maybe its also really fun to see Tommy get riled up when he puts on his skimpy shorts and a tight crop top). Mel comes on the scene as a transfer from Kansas (When she and Dee moved to LA) and her and Buck become fast friends when she comments that she has a girlfriend and he replies with "And I have a boyfriend" because he offered to spot her on the weights and she thought he was coming onto her.

a little more insight into the arielle/lucy stuff (because your earlier anon annoyed me a lot asfdjkl) as someone who's been here since...2021? i think? even when arielle's casting was announced and we didn't know the first thing about her character or what her relationship with buck was gonna be, people were already out here hating on her and generally being super fucking weird about her and their actress—like they do for every woman they see as a threat to the ship. it obviously got much worse once the bucklucy kiss aired (which i'm personally neutral on) and it always upsets me to see people blame the story/kristen for the reason they hate her because??? okay you didn't like the story, but no one is forcing you to be fucking weird and vile about women! people were out here calling her names, saying she sexually assualted buck, even attacking arielle herself and making horrible remarks about her appearance and body and age. no one forced them to do any of that!! i don't care if you don't like a story, it's not an excuse to be fucking weird about women!! and it's been REALLY upsetting to see the same fandom that treated this female character so badly welcome back with open arms, a character that was initially introduced as a racist and a misogynist and part of the white man status quo. they couldn't forgive lucy for getting drunk and kissing buck, but they were out here fighting anyone who tried to bring up tommy's past. this fandom hates women so much it's insane lol

ok look. i don't dislike ringmaster scarr, in fact i quite like several of her alt styles (one pictured) significantly more than her "default look". i just don't really connect much to this one and don't use her very often. i think with some tweaks this could have been one of my faves but idk. something is missing

Emma Frost

i am just a little bit weirded out by how fortnite kind of frames emma frost as a counterpart to montague by including a crystal style and making her a medallion boss, but we're gonna move on from that. i dont think ive ever really seen the character before and still dont know that much about her but she is pretty! i don't find myself using this skin thatoften though but maybe i will in the future? her dance is nice too

Medusa

ok look i left her off my girlypop poll but only because i think the general community doesn't care much for her, you almost never see this skin out and about in my experience. however i do think this is a pretty good design, i also like the different styles which make her go from mystical to warrior, it's cool. arguably she pulls off this motif better than zeus in the same season. anyway honestly i don't use her much either and i think it's just because, while she is pretty and has a good design, there's just better skins

Brite Raider

i like this skin kinda more for its role as a throwback/remix of brite than i actually wanna use it. the alt styles honestly are just ok and while she's cute i just find myself not wanting to use the skin very often. however it is cool to know that i can always use a brite if i want to without purchasing another skin. this feels like faint praise but really i do think she's cool!

Aphrodite

i like this design, it could definitely be better (like her survey version..) but for what it is i like it. i guess im just not in love with it. irony i guess

Nisha

i don't really know what to say about nisha besides that she's really pretty and i like her. like a fencing motif wouldnt usually draw me to a character but there's a lot of intrigue with her relationship with valeria and being one of the only society members who was still running around by the end of the chapter. anyway shes valeria's wife that's just the truth sorry

Shuri (Black Panther)

ok am i the only one who thinks this was really cool i mean come on. t'challa is already a big bucks pack skin so why not put shuri here? i dont really have much to say here besides she's cool and, i don't know, i probably wouldn't have autonomously bought a shuri skin but i love having one

Valeria

i really like valeria, she could maybe be a little over the top with her design (mostly her jacket) but that's like, the idea, she's extravagant. in terms of game canon i would love to see her return but for a season main antagonist, i really enjoyed her. but yeah pretty and all the rest! i'm at a loss here!

Korra (The Legend of Korra)

i haven't seen korra, and i wish she had more than just two styles (a 'normal' version with short hair would be really really cute) but. it's fucking korra. this is cool as shit, even if the waterbending mythic she forced upon most of the season was oppressively strong.

Gwenpool

honestly i never had any experience with this character before she was introduced to fortnite, but she's really cool! i also think she's a really clever inclusion in that she hits the battle pass requirements of having at least one super cutie girl while also being a "-pool" to tie in with wolverine & deadpool (in this way peelverine is also rather clever, also serving as a remix for peely). overall just a great inclusion and she's cute.

The Machinist

cute mechanic girl who instantly attracted yuri ships with everyone around her? sign me up! honestly i really like her design too in all of her styles, my only problem is that she's basically an unambiguous villain but. she's so cute! i do really enjoy the loading screen that makes her look like megalo don's bratty niece and it does give some spark to her character. so yeah idk i like her!

Hope

hope is this chapter's protagonist character and as such has a lot of spotlight. so maybe some of that hype is seeping in here but i really do like hope. she's cute, i like her designs, i like her cat motif, i like her apparent struggles with not letting the darkness consume her, etc. she was obviously one of the standouts of her original season and idk. guess all i can say is that she is pretty cool

Artemis

best design of the whole chapter?? honestly i love artemis. her design is super cool, i really love the space effects whenever they are used on a skin and in any of her colors she looks gorgeous. she's also been the absolute best recruitable bot for much of the chapter and any skin that serves that role is gonna be in my good books. and can i also say that i love her dance and the song for it a lot too?? i feel like artemis is really underrated

okay ranking those was a lot harder than i expected! honestly anything after ringmaster scarr was a tossup for me if you ask me tomorrow my list would be all jumbled... hope you enjoyed reading, anyway! :)

Some Rambly Thoughts About Custom G1 Ponies…

Okay sorry in advance: Rereading some of these thoughts I am a little bit mean tonight. but i do not care lol I am ranting for fun.

I am A little annoyed at those types of people who criticize anyone who makes MLP G1 customs because they think its immoral to customize a vintage toy since they arent made anymore (….you could say the same thing about like, g4 since thats over now, but okay).

It is perfectly fine, and even good, to customize a vintage toy at times.

Most customizers are smart and will seek out “bait” (damaged) ponies to customize. If they’re already broken or damaged, customizing it is like giving it a new life, even if theyre not restoring it to be exactly how it is before. In fact: Sometimes it may be cheaper to customize a pony than restore it!

For example: The pony I made my extraterra custom of was Moondancer. She had cut hair and no cutiemark, her glitter for her cutiemark had completely faded away. Now, ive restored a moondancer before so I actually have everything i would need to have fixed her, but like. lets say i wasn’t a restorationist who had all the materials: I would have to pay for each of the hair colors I need (about 15 bucks when you factor in shipping) and then another 15-20 bucks to buy the rehairing tool and needles and then 5 bucks on quality glue and a few more bucks on zipties to retail her and then id have to buy glitter. I personally buy biodegradeable glitter but the kind i get is a little expensive especially since i have to get it shipped from overseas so im paying like 20 more bucks- Moondancer is one of the most common ponies and typically sells for around 15 bucks total o-o. Not that I don’t see value in restoring common ponies (I will restore at least 1 of every pony so that I can add her to my collection, no matter how damaged) but like. Most people don’t wanna throw all their money away to do that for a cheap common pony when they COULD put their money into those same supplies (hair, tools, paint, ect) and have fun making a cool new unique piece of artwork.

2. Even if the pony isn’t damaged: Is it your toy? Is that YOUR toy that the person customized? No? It was their Own Toy That They Paid For With Their Own Money? then shut the fuck up its not your business what they do with their toys 😭 Yeah it would hurt my heart if someones out there buying expensive rare ass ponies just to customize them when there are cheaper alternatives to certain poses (like if someone customized a night glider when they could have just used like, posey or someone for the pose) but its not my business because its not my toy and I accept that people can do whatever the fuck they want with their own property.

And anyways, most customizers DO care about vintage toys and will seek out the more common ponies with the poses they need, I don’t think anyone who is truly invested in the pony fandom uses ultra rare ponies for their customs UNLESS theyre already damaged, in which case I just see it as giving it new life. Also, customizers utilize projects like the HQG1C project or Basic Funs ponies, so you dont Have to use vintage toys to actually make a g1 custom anymore.

but I also dont think people should be shamed for using vintage bases. It can be convenient if you have bait ponies laying around. Especially since sometimes there Is No Good Alternative. like for example: I would love to make a custom of my pony design for Gregory Fnaf, but I would need a kinda rarer hard to get pose (the baby brother ponies with the molded hooves). I personally won’t make any customs unless i can find a damaged one, but if i COULD find a damaged vintage baby boy i would absolutely use it because whats the alternative when some poses are just flat out rare :(

Also to the people who just hate vintage customs in general: Sorry but youre boring. You dont like fun new designs in the g1 style? You want everything to be made with current toys? My autism makes me think about ponies 90% of the time, and for 99% of the time im thinking about ponies, i forget g4 and g5 even exist because im so focused on the older gens. Not everyone cares about the new stuff. You dont like the older gens or people using their creativity to make art relating to the older vintage gens? Youre boring as hell, sorry

Final thing I wanna say: this rant is inspired by many posts complaining about customs but the one that made me the most mad was someone complaining about G1 customs and then finishing their post with “and you could TELL that it was their first time making a custom like that :/ “

Fucking excuse you? Customs are an art form, plain and simple. And everyone has to start somewhere. do you think my first ever custom pony was any good? (for anyone curious its not one ive posted on this blog, it was a fakie) hell no I made many mistakes! But you shouldnt shame or insult people for their art, we all start somewhere and frankly you’re just mean.

i agree that s7 was all over the place with pacing but considering the first three and last three episodes were bobby (and athena by extension) focused, and rightly so as angela and peter are far and away their most bankable stars, i don't think it's fair to say it was all about bi!buck and buddie.

could they have done more with buck's arc? absolutely! but i think in this particular case, they were testing the waters to see how the general audience took to buck's realization. for lack of a better term, they kept his relationship with tommy as palatable for the GA as possible without over-sanitizing it. i don't agree that they made it all about sex but i do think they didn't make the time to show buck and tommy getting to know each other as much as they could have. knowing that scripts were being written and tinkered with right up until the end, i also think they were prepared to pivot away from buck x tommy if the overall reaction by the GA was poor, which thankfully, it was not. but it's also not the buck x tommy show; there's a large main cast that also needed screen time, which again, i think was a challenge with a shorter season.

the only thing i have to say about a focus on buddie is that it was the fandom and so-called internet 'journalists' looking for clicks that were making it about buddie, not the showrunner, writers or actors. the former couldn't stop frothing at the mouth about it, and the latter barely talked about it (unless asked by said 'journalists').

anyway, i hope s8 is better, with more time for fleshed out stories for all the characters. i know they wanted to start off the new season on a new network with a bang in the form of a lengthy cruise ship disaster arc, but i sorely missed the weekly, run of the mill rescues and firefighting, tbh. hopefully we'll get back to that in s8 too.

I agree that 911 isn't the Bi!Buck show (even if hes one of my faves 😊)! It absolutely is an ensemble, and you're correct to point that out.

My perspective of the promo/PR for this season was that it was heavily skewed towards Buck's story from the network on purpose, more so than Bobby and Athena, but perhaps that's because of my fandom goggles. I dont see a lot of promo outside of what falls into my lap randomly scrolling the internet. So it felt unbalanced and like the PR machine was using bi!Buck as buzz and pushing it super hard above and beyond the other storylines (Bobby/Athena, Hen/Maya, even the Madney wedding).

Obviously this is subjective!

Regarding the Buck/Tommy stuff - I hear your point about testing the waters and making sure it was palatable to the GA. And again, it not being the Buck/Tommy show (which for the record...would not watch, but I digress).

However - the show did a huge disservice to EVERYONE by biting off more than they could chew this season. Buck came out as bisexual, Bobby relived his trauma as both a child and an ex-addict, Athena was dealing with her son coming back (like did that even happen? Was that this season?), Maddie and Chimney got married (and for some reason he had to have a brain disease??! Like why??), Hen and Karen lost Maya, and Eddie spiraled HARD and ultimately lost Chris.

That is SO MUCH to tackle in what is ultimately only about 380 minutes of story time! Add to that an open ended, seat of the pants writing approach and frankly they set themselves up for disaster.

Anyway, I too want s8 to return to run of the mill rescues and firefighting, and give our characters room to breathe and grow in a way that makes the show watchable again.

my criticism of ana would be she made some comments about christopher that are/could be interpreted as ableist... however none of the people who actually seem to hate her ever bring those up, they bring up her calling eddie "edmundo" (even though she canonically refers to him as eddie multiple times), similar to how there's legitimate criticisms of taylor (how she was completely willing to throw bobby under the bus in "dosed", which I thought was way worse than what she did to jonah), but these always get pushed to the side for misogynistic insults and people being mad about her getting in the way of their ship. im not massive fans of either of them as characters (same as if either of them were men) but the way fandom reduces them to plot devices to prop up buck and eddie is so frustrating because there's so much more personality to them than people like to pretend. I do think they shot themselves in the foot by 1. introducing taylor as an antagonist and then 2. deciding a cheating storyline would be the best way to go, because it ruined buck's relationships with taylor and lucy - so kind of doomed any chances of even casual being satisfied by them
