SERIES MASTERLIST <3
“Did something happen last night between you and Mattheo?” Pansy asks, throwing the door open with an expectant look. Despite your low mood, you can’t help but crack a tiny smile at the sight of her—hair a tousled mess, mascara smudged beneath her eyes. She’s the perfect picture of someone who had way too much fun last night.
“Is there any particular reason you’re asking?” You reply cautiously, eyes following her as she saunters over and slips into bed beside you. She gives the blanket a hard tug, leaving you to huff in irritation when she claims more than her fair share.
“Because I heard him and Veronica fighting. I didn’t catch much, but I did hear your name.” Pansy looks you over, taking in your rumpled clothes and tired eyes. You’re not in much better shape than she is, and she can't tell if it’s the lingering effects of last night’s drinks or the aftermath of whatever happened with Mattheo.
“Merlin,” you sigh, rolling your eyes and sinking deeper into the warmth of your bed. You haven’t moved since Theo left about twenty minutes ago, and you’re not sure if you’ll find the energy to do so anytime soon. Honestly, the idea of staying curled up here is more tempting than you'd like to admit. “We got into it again last night.”
“Again?” Pansy raises an eyebrow, shifting to face you.
“Apparently, he does care.” Your voice is dripping with sarcasm and frustration.
“He told you that?” Pansy shifts so quickly it’s as if you’ve shocked her. Both of you know very well that Mattheo isn’t the type to open up about what he’s feeling. Years of watching him around his parents taught you why—with how many times you had seen them scold him for even a flicker of emotion, it was no wonder he kept everything locked up.
You sigh, staring up at the ceiling, “He said he wanted me to admit I have feelings for him too.” Pansy's eyes widen, her mouth falling open as she stares at you in disbelief.
“Feeling for him too?” She echoes, and you finally turn to meet her eyes with a weak nod. Your best friend sits there for a moment, studying your face carefully before choosing her next words. She knows she has a nasty habit of saying the first thing on her mind without considering that it might not be what you need to hear.
Pansy sits up, grabbing the pillow she was using and hugging it to her chest as she stares at you impatiently. She’s waiting to hear if you’ve finally told the boy you’ve been head over heels for, for years, that you like him too. “Well? Did you?”
“I couldn’t do it.”
“Please, tell me it’s for the reason I’m thinking.” She all but begs, her eyes wide with hope.
You let out a weary sigh. “I don’t know when I stopped having feelings for him, Pans. I didn’t even realize I’d lost them until he asked me to tell him I felt the same, and there was just...”
“Just..?” Pansy prompts gently.
A pause hangs between you as you search for the right words.
You hardly slept last night; your mind raced with thoughts of the past few months, trying to pinpoint when and how your feelings faded so quietly. You had liked Mattheo for so long, even convinced yourself that maybe you even loved him. But how could you truly love someone who was so closed off? Sure, he turned to you when he was struggling, but that didn’t mean he ever shared what he was feeling. He liked your presence and relied on you to be there whenever he needed support, but he never trusted you enough to truly let you in.
Not in the way you wanted, at least.
If he wasn’t comfortable with his own emotions, there was no way he would be able to handle yours. Maybe that was the heart of it—the realization that he would never fully open up to you, and that had kept you from falling in love with him. And maybe that was the best thing that could have happened, no matter how painful or uncomfortable it was to come to terms with at the beginning.
Then there was Theo. Who had promised to help you get over Mattheo, and from that moment on, he was there for you without hesitation. He held your hand whenever you needed it, and honestly, you had begun to lean on him a bit too much—being close to him had become your favorite feeling. He never made it feel like supporting you was a chore; instead, he made it seem like something he had always longed to do.
In truth, everything had changed for you. Spending time with Theo was no longer just a way to distract yourself from Mattheo; it became where you wanted to be. Being around him made you feel safe and accepted in a way you hadn’t realized you craved.
And that was absolutely terrifying.
You sit up abruptly, fully facing Pansy, “When you said that you thought Theo would give me everything if I let him, did you mean that?”
“Babes,” she begins, sending you a soft smile. “I’ve always thought you would be good for Mattheo. You bring something out in him; he’s happiest when he’s around you. Veronica seemed to make him happy at first—” she adds with a snort—“but nowhere near the level you do.”
“But with Theo…” Pansy trails off. “I’ve never seen you so happy—and not the kind of happy you were with Mattheo. It’s not the relief of him not having a one-night stand or flirting with you a bit bolder at a party. It’s genuine happiness; you’re truly yourself. Theo brings out a different side of you, and you do that for him, too.”
Glancing over at the vase of red peonies, battling the tightness in your throat and the sting in your eyes. You decide you’d rather not spend the day in bed.
.·。.·゜✭·.·✫·゜·。.
Since last night, Theo has been struggling to push away the thought that maybe the idea of you having feelings for him isn’t so far-fetched. Especially after you’d implied that the two of you were together to the girl who’d tried to flirt with him. The way you’d intertwined your fingers with his, staking a silent claim that he was off-limits, had left him reeling. There was no way you’d be so possessive if you didn’t feel the same. At least, that’s what he’d been telling himself all morning.
And then there was the way you hadn’t been able to answer Mattheo about your feelings. Theo’s whole heart had been in his throat as he waited for you to tell Mattheo that you did have feelings for him, that you’d had them for years. But you hadn’t answered.
In a way, though, you had, hadn’t you? You’d pushed past Mattheo without a word and gone straight to him.
“Are you coming with us to Hogsmeade or not?” Enzo nudges Theo, pulling him out of his thoughts. The boys had all planned to go to Hogsmeade together this weekend, a plan set firmly in stone since last weekend. But when Theo saw you this morning, he couldn’t hold back. On impulse, he asked if you wanted to spend some time together, suggestingalmost shyly—that he could finally show you where he’d been getting the peonies.
“No, I’ve got plans.” Theo shrugs, and Draco sends him an irritated look from the opposite couch.
“We made plans.” Draco huffs, clearly agitated with the change. He always hated it when the boys ditched at the last second.
“Something came up.” Theo sighs, hoping that he’ll let it go quickly. He’s well aware that Mattheo should be coming down the stairs at any second. Enzo had told them that he was taking forever to get ready, probably hungover from last night.
“You mean your girl.” Blaise corrects, and Draco looks disgusted. His head swings back to look at Theo.
“You’re ditching us for her? Mate, that’s pathetic.” Draco scoffs. “She isn’t even your girlfriend.”
“She’s pretty damn close.” Blaise points out, and Theo tries his best to ignore the feeling that jolts through him when he thinks of you as his girlfriend.
He doesn’t have a chance to say anything—not that he would have—before Mattheo walks over to join the group. He claps a hand on Draco’s shoulder, only for Draco to shrug him off irritably. “C’mon,” Mattheo says, his tone leaving no room for argument.
As the others rise, stretching and adjusting their robes, Theo remains seated, gaze fixed on the fireplace in front of him. Mattheo pauses, giving him a puzzled look, one brow lifting in question. “You’re not coming?”
“No.” Theo answers curtly, clearly uninterested in extending the conversation. The truth is, he hasn't spoken to Mattheo in quite a while, and when they do, it’s nothing but tension—a quiet frustration simmering beneath each exchange.
Mattheo’s curiosity sharpens. “Why not?”
“He’s got plans with his girl,” Draco interjects with a roll of his eyes, impatience seeping into his voice. “Now, can we go? We’ve waited long enough for you as it is.”
“Wait. Hold on,” Mattheo turns to face him fully, and Draco huffs when he realizes they’re not going to be leaving any time soon. “Your girl?”
“You know what he means.” Blaise interjects calmly, his eyes shifting to Mattheo as he watches tension coil through his stance.
Mattheo gives a casual shrug, though his jaw tightens. “No, Blaise, I really don’t.”
Theo huffs, rolling his eyes as he stands, making to push past. “Why the hell do you even care?”
Mattheo’s hand snaps out, stopping him mid-step. “You know why I care.”
Theo’s gaze darkens, voice low. “Oh, you mean because of your feelings for her?” He shakes his head in disbelief. “Does your girlfriend know that you told Y/n you’ve always liked her?”
Theo’s eyes flicker over Mattheo’s shoulder, catching the shared looks between Blaise, Enzo, and Draco. There’s no shock in their expressions—only a knowing look as if they’d been bracing for this moment all along. It’s unsettling, the way they seem almost resigned, like they’ve seen the tension building between him and Mattheo from a mile away.
Mattheo scoffs, an edge of irritation slipping into his voice. “Did she go and tell you everything I said?”
Theo raises a brow, “No, I overheard you. But even if she did, what does it matter to you?”
Matteo narrows his eyes, “Because I care about her.”
“Bullshit. If you cared about her, you wouldn’t have put her in that position last night.”
“I care about her more than you think.” Mattheo bites out, and the boys watch carefully as Mattheo takes another step forward.
“Right,” Theo scoffs, “You care so much you went and found yourself another girl.”
Theo sees it before Mattheo even speaks—the subtle shift in his expression, the tightening of his jaw, the flicker of defensiveness flashing in his eyes. “I wasn’t ready to—”
“So you weren’t ready for her? But you were for Veronica? I don’t get it. You can’t just expect her to always be there when you finally figure out what you want.”
Mattheo laughs in disbelief, “I wasn’t waiting, I—”
“Then what the hell were you doing?” Theo’s voice sharpens. “You had years to tell her how you felt, and you didn’t say anything. Then you get a girlfriend, she starts spending time with me, and all of a sudden, you care? Leave her alone and quit messing with her.”
“I’m not fucking messing with her—”
“You are. You’ve been doing it for years.” Theo’s eyes flash with frustration, and suddenly he feels the urge to make it clear that he wants you—that he always has, and Mattheo isn’t the only one. “She deserves better than someone who can’t make up their mind. She deserves to be someone’s first choice.”
Mattheo’s expression hardens and his tone drops. “And that’s you?”
Theo doesn’t have the chance to answer, because Veronica’s shriek causes both their heads to snap in her direction, “Matty!”
Theo watches as Mattheo steps back, anger giving way to frustration, a quiet curse slipping from his lips at the sight of his girlfriend. Veronica strides forward, pushing right past Blaise and Enzo without a second glance. Blaise shoots her an agitated look, irritation flashing in his eyes as she barrels through.
“I thought you said you guys were going to Hogsmeade.” Veronica smiles, reaching out to take Mattheo’s hand, but he subtly pulls away, dodging her touch with a flicker of impatience in his eyes.
“We are.” He grumbles under his breath, but Veronica keeps smiling sweetly, unfazed, as if her boyfriend hadn’t just blatantly brushed off her attempt to hold his hand. Mattheo turns to leave, muttering something to the boys, likely a brief comment about their plans.
Theo watches as an agitated Mattheo strides out of the common room, with the boys trailing behind him. But the boys glance back at Theo, their expressions a mix of caution and confusion. Theo turns to leave as well, but Veronica’s voice stops him, soft and pointed, just loud enough for him to hear.
“You should tell your girlfriend that last night was a mistake,” she murmurs, a sympathetic smile tugging at her lips. “Mattheo thought she was me; you know how he gets after a few too many drinks.”
Theo thinks about correcting her, letting her know that he doesn’t really know what she means at all. From what he saw last night, Mattheo was tipsy—not that drunk—and Theo has had enough years of experience to tell the difference. But instead, he shrugs it off, deciding he’d rather find you than spend any more time in the common room.
.·。.·゜✭·.·✫·゜·。.
“Hogsmeade is that way.” You say, a bit confused, gesturing in the opposite direction as you walk beside Theo.
“I know.” He replies simply, his gaze flickering back to the trail that you’ve never gone down before. Honestly, you had no idea it even existed. It’s evident that this path isn’t used often, as moss and grass have claimed most of the walkway. Vibrant wildflowers dot the sides, their colors brightening the greenery around them.
He’s been quiet for most of the walk, which feels strange; you’re not used to this side of him. The more time you’ve spent with Theo, the more he’s opened up—sharing memories of his late mum, the weight of his father’s expectations, and his hopes for the future. These walks, where you slowly unravel each other’s stories, have become your thing, something that only the two of you share.
You frown slightly, glancing at him as you try to piece it together. “But I thought you said you got the flowers from a shop.”
“I never said that.” Theo’s lips curve into that soft, gentle smile that never fails to send your stomach into a flutter. “I said I’d take you with me the next time I went to get some. I never said it was in Hogsmeade.”
It takes you a second, too enamored with the view in front of you for it all to click. The walk isn’t long, but as you continue down the path, you spot a patch of red ahead. It stands out against the greenery, a cluster of flowers blooming a pretty, vibrant hue. You can’t quite tell what kind they are, but when you glance at Theo, you notice the way his eyes flicker nervously, and it suddenly feels like you’re walking toward something important.
But then it hits you all at once: “They’re peonies.”
On instinct, you grab Theo’s hand, giving it a playful tug to urge him along toward the blooms. He lets out a soft laugh at your enthusiasm, and a warmth fills you as his earlier mood seems to lift, the tension in his shoulders fading.
When you reach the edge of the flower field, you pause, still holding Theo’s hand as your gaze lingers over the vibrant blooms stretching out before you. Theo glances at you, heart beating a little faster as he wonders what you’re thinking, but he brushes aside his nerves and releases your hand, shrugging off his jacket to lay it carefully on the ground. You murmur to him, urging him not to squish any of the flowers, and Theo smiles, his expression softening as he gently reassures you that he won’t.
There isn’t much room on his jacket, so you find yourself pressed against Theo’s side—though you don’t mind in the slightest. He’s leaned back on his hands, while you sit cross-legged beside him.
The quiet is soothing, broken only by the soft chatter of birds and the occasional hum of an insect drifting from flower to flower. The warmth of the sun on your skin feels heavenly, its heat a welcome contrast to the long, cold months that have passed.
“Is this why you left? The first night you stayed with me?” You ask, glancing to the right to watch his reaction.
From where you’re seated, you can see how the sunlight catches every small detail of his face, highlighting any imperfections. There’s the faint mole on his cheekbone, his dark lashes that you’re secretly jealous of, and the thin scar along his chin from when he fell off his broom as a kid. Another mark splits through his brow—a scar whose origin he could never quite remember, but has always just been there. It tugs at you, knowing you can recall the origins of his faded scars. It might seem trivial, but it means he’s let you in, sharing parts of himself that not everyone gets to see.
Theo nods, “I had to go early in the morning to give them to Pansy. With practice later, it was the only chance I could.”
A smile creeps onto your face as you imagine Theo, slightly awkward but determined, handing over the bundle of flowers and the little card to Pansy, who no doubt teased him relentlessly. You’d had wondered how she noticed that Theo was different with you, especially when most of your time together was just the two of you. But now, hearing this, you understand perfectly how she recognized a side of him that only seems to surface around you.
“I didn’t want to leave, y’know.” Theo continues, finally glancing over at you, and the effect is instant—those watercolor eyes meet yours, sending a flutter through your stomach as you instinctively lean closer, feeling yourself melt into his side.
“The flowers made up for it,” you tease, a soft smile tugging at your lips. “Aside from you, they were the only thing that made me feel better.”
“Yeah?” Theo glances down at you, tucked into his side, a satisfied smile tugging at his lips. Hearing you say the flowers meant something to you eases any nerves he had—because they were never just a way to cheer you up. They were his quiet, unspoken way of telling you that he was there, that he cared. And that, despite your feelings for Mattheo, he was an option too.
“Yeah.” You confirm.
For the rest of the afternoon, you and Theo sat together, talking about whatever came to mind as you picked flowers. You gathered a few, but mostly you watched as Theo picked the ones he liked the most, adding to the small bundle that sat between you both. Watching him carefully select the prettiest flowers, knowing he was going to give them to you, made something shift inside you. If you hadn’t fully realized your feelings before, you were certain of them now.
You lost track of time with Theo, but eventually, he had to leave for practice. He handed you the freshly picked flowers and walked you back to the castle, stalling as if reluctant to say goodbye. In the end, you pressed a soft kiss to his cheek and murmured a quiet ‘thank you.’ You didn’t want to say goodbye either, but you couldn’t bring yourself to be the reason Theo might get into trouble.
It wasn’t until you got back to your dorm, leaning against the door with a giddy squeal, the flowers pressed to your chest, their scent lingering in the air, that the realization hit you. You should’ve kissed him. The thought made your stomach dip with excitement, and for a fleeting moment, you entertained the idea of running after him, catching him just before practice, and kissing him. Absentmindedly, your hand rises to trace your lips, lost in your racing thoughts.
You’re so caught up in the moment that you don’t notice Pansy at her desk, watching you with an amused look.
“You look like you had a good time.” Pansy smirks as you startle and send her a look before pushing away from the door.
“Pansy, I’m fucked.” You whine and she lets out a loud laugh.
“You were from the second he stayed the night with you.” You pause for a moment, letting the realization settle in, and as it does, you know she’s right. You couldn’t remember the last time you felt so safe with someone—not in the way you did that night. Sure, you felt safe with Mattheo, but it wasn’t the same. It didn’t compare to the way you felt when you were with Theo.
“Did you know he’s been picking me flowers?” You ask instead, setting the new bundle onto your desk before turning to face Pansy.
“Oh, I knew.” Pansy hums, a knowing smile tugging at her lips.
“How did I not notice?” You wonder aloud.
“You were a little distracted.” Pansy shrugs, and you nod in agreement.
After Pansy tells you she’s meeting Blaise after practice, you briefly wonder if you should go with her. You sit on your bed, lost in thought, weighing the decision, but before you can make up your mind, Pansy is already gone.
As much as you want to see Theo, you hesitate, not wanting to assume that today meant as much to him as it did for you. It’s clear from the fact he’s been picking you flowers that he has feelings for you, but you don’t want to get ahead of yourself or risk ruining something before it has a chance to begin. So, you stay in your dorm, trying to focus on an assignment you’ve been putting off for far too long, though your mind keeps drifting back to him.
So when you hear the knock, your heart skips a beat, and before you can think, you're off your bed and rushing to the door. You know exactly who is on the other side and your stomach flutters in anticipation. You pause just before opening it, taking a deep breath to calm the flutter of nerves in your stomach, willing yourself to appear composed.
You pull the door open, forcing a casual smile as you try to sound unaffected. “Hi,” you say, though your voice betrays the excitement simmering just beneath the surface.
Theo stands in front of you, one hand holding onto the doorframe. His hair is a tousled mess, and his cheeks are flushed—whether from practice or the rush of seemingly running here, you can’t quite tell.
And when he looks up at you, he’s out of breath and looks downright impatient, “I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry?” You pause, thrown off and completely caught off guard. That was not what you expected him to say, and your mind spirals into the worst possible conclusions. Was he regretting what happened earlier? Apologizing for showing you the flowers, or for picking some for you? Giving you flowers at all? Maybe his feelings for you weren’t strong enough, or perhaps he only thought he had them? The thought that it could be too soon after your feelings for Mattheo crossed your mind, even though you’d started moving on from him months ago, gnaws at you.
“I’m sorry,” he repeats, releasing the doorframe and stepping forward, one step, then another. He pauses, giving you a moment to pull away if you need to, but you stay rooted to the spot, unable to move. Theo stands so close now that you have to tilt your head back slightly to meet his gaze. He reaches up, and your breath catches when his thumb gently brushes against your cheek, his hand settling just below your ear. His voice is quiet, but the weight of his words makes your heart stutter. “I should’ve kissed you, dolcezza.”
He doesn’t give you a chance to respond, his thumb tracing slow, deliberate circles on your skin as he steps even closer, his breath warm against your cheek. His words tumble out in a rush, desperate and raw. “All through practice, all I could think about was you. The moment I walked away, I just wanted to turn around and kiss you.” His voice drops to a whisper, low and thick with a longing that sends shivers down your spine.
You murmur his name softly, but he’s barely listening, his gaze intense as he leans in slightly, his lips just inches from yours. “Fuck, you've been on my mind for months—years, if I'm being honest. I feel like I’m losing my mind, wondering if you feel even a fraction of what I do.” His hand still lingers at your cheek, his thumb brushing against your skin, the warmth of his touch sending a tremor through you as if he’s waiting for something—waiting for you to say what he’s too afraid to ask.
It’s you who closes the distance, your lips meeting his in a sudden, fervent kiss that catches him off guard, pulling a surprised moan from deep in his throat. His body reacts instantly, his free hand snaking around your waist, pulling you closer, pressing you against him. The sound he makes causes a rush of warmth to flood your veins. He’s hardly touched, and you’re already too warm, and your knees threaten to buckle beneath you. You let him guide you backward, the pressure of his hand firm against your back until your steps falter just inside your dorm. Every inch of him feels like fire against your skin, and your previous worries fade into nothing.
Once you’re inside, he kicks the door closed with a thud but the sound barely registers. Without any hesitation, he presses you back against the door, his body close enough that you can feel the heat radiating off him. But you want him closer. So much closer. One hand rests flat against the door beside your head, while the other cups your cheek, his thumb brushing gently over your skin. Then, it’s him who leans in, his lips meeting yours in a slow, deliberate kiss that deepens with an aching intensity. There’s no rush now—just an overwhelming wave of longing, a perfect culmination of the emotions you’ve both held back. Your head spins, your heart races, and you’re certain that if you could take your temperature in this moment, it would be burning hot.
But then, slowly, he pulls back just enough to break the kiss, his breath heavy and uneven. His forehead rests against yours for a moment, both of you struggling to catch your breath. You feel the urge to close the distance between you again, to press your lips to his, because there’s something about the way Theo kisses that leaves you breathless, already craving more. But then again, maybe it’s just him—the way his touch makes a thrill course through you.
“I wanted you to kiss me before you left—”
The door jolts against your back, halting you mid-sentence as Pansy’s voice cuts through the moment. “What the hell? Open the door.” You hold your breath, hoping that if you stay silent, she might forget the whole thing and simply go away.
But that’s wishful thinking: “Babes. Please open the door."
“I thought you were hanging out with Blaise.” You call back, stealing a glance at Theo, whose expression mirrors your own surprise. Before leaving practice, he’d told Blaise to keep Pansy distracted—he wanted time with you because he had planned on telling you exactly how he felt about you.
“It’s about Mattheo.” Your brows raise is surprise at the intensity in Pansy’s voice and you fling open the door without another thought.
“What’s wrong?” Theo stands behind you, watching the way your face turns nervous.
“Veronica’s been giving him a love potion,” she says softly, her eyes studying your face as it twists in disbelief. “He’s in the infirmary... and he’s asking for you.”

Emergency Contact
Pairing: Hwang Hyunjin x Fem!Reader
Warnings: cursing, heartbreak, mentions of drinking *SFW*
WC: 2.8k of pure angst <3 (you’ll giggle a little bit tho, promise)
You and Hyunjin had a mutual breakup over a year ago, but apparently he forgot to remove you as his emergency contact and feelings are revisted…
You were stupid. That was the only excuse you could come up with for your decisions.
You were stupid and maybe even a little pathetic.
One moment you were curled into your couch with a fuzzy blanket and a freshly brewed cup of coffee, the next you were praying to God that no one had taken pictures of the drunk idiot sleeping at one of the tables in some late night ramen restaurant.
You sat at the red light, your fingers tapping rhythmically to the new song that you’d heard on the radio a few times before. Your mind couldn’t help but to wander off to a year prior where everything in your life was different. You had a different job, a different apartment, a different wardrobe and hairstyle. You even had a boyfriend back then. Every aspect of your life had changed after him and here he was wiggling his way back into it like a stubborn little rat that you couldn’t catch.
As you pull into a parking space in front of the building, you take a few deep breaths to calm the nerves that skyrocketed the second you turned off your car. You hadn’t seen him since he turned his back on you with red eyes, his hands tangled into his messy hair as sobs quietly echoed against the walls of your apartment as he left you behind. There were a few conversations texted here and there with the two of you catching up, but it was all small talk that even strangers could have. You hadn’t heard his voice or seen him with your own eyes in over a year, and yet here you were at his rescue because of some stupid phone call you’d gotten at one o’clock in the morning.
The jingle of a bell announces your arrival and an older woman greets you politely as you step inside. You smile kindly and then your eyes scan the room for the idiot before landing on the familiar figure hunched over onto the red table, empty bottles of soju accompanying him in his slumber. You could only scoff in amazement at the fact he managed to drink all of that alone. He wasn’t even that great of a drinker. What the hell possessed him to drink himself into a coma on a Thursday night?
Your hand comes down onto his back a bit harshly as you attempt to pat him awake. It took a few more rough shoves and a loud call of his name before his head finally raised and he groaned in annoyance. A quiet laugh escaped your lips as his eyes struggled to adjust to the light, a used napkin stuck to his cheek with some unknown sauce smeared across it.
“Hyunjin, get up. Let’s go.”
“What?”
“Let’s go.” You repeat, turning your head to look over your shoulder for anyone that may recognize him. “Did you pay for your food already?”
He was still trying to make sense of his (very bright) surroundings and who was asking him about the bill he’d already paid for. You watched in amusement as his eyes grew twice their size as they connected with yours, his mouth dropping open slightly. You weren’t sure what emotions reflected in those brown orbs. Shock? Fear? Sadness? What you did know is that Hyunjin hadn’t expected for you to be here.
“Y/N?”
“Did you pay your bill, drunk boy?”
“Yea- Yes.” He stutters and squeezes his eyes shut to focus the blurry image of you. “What are you doin- Why are here?”
“You passed out after stuffing yourself full of ramen and soju and the nice lady at the register called your emergency contact.”
His hand comes up to scratch the back of his neck, his ears red from both alcohol and bow embarrassment.“Oh…forgot to change that.” He slurs.”I should’ve changed that. I’m sorry.”
There’s a moment of silence as he stares up at you deep in thought, your hand coming towards his face to detach the dirty napkin from his cheek causing him to flinch back into reality.
“Let’s go before someone sees you.”
He’s obedient as he pushes the chair back to stand, your shoulder scrunching up to touch your right ear at the loud noise it made scraping against the floor. His hand reaches up to push his bangs away from his face, a sniffle coming from him as he gathered his phone and wallet. He nearly topples over as he turns to follow you to the register, his hand flying out to find balance on your shoulder as you assured that his bill had been paid for with the worker.
Loading him into the car was easier than you’d expected as he was able to climb in by himself. There had been one too many times in the past where you literally had to shove the man limb by limb into the car because he had way more than he should’ve with his friends.
“Do you stay at the same apartments?”
“No, we all moved into new ones.” Hyunjin takes a deep breath as the room began to spin. You watch as he closes his eyes and leans his seat back a bit to try and reground himself. “ I live with Changbin now.”
“What’s your address?”
“I don’t know.”
“Hyunjin.”
“I can’t remember.”he mumbles.
You scoff. “Give me your phone.”
It took you a few minutes, but eventually you were able to find his address embedded in google maps. Hyunjin had never been great with directions, so you knew that there wasn’t a way he didn’t have his addresses saved as “home” for easy access when needed. You leaned across the console to buckle him into his seat belt before returning to your seat and doing the same for yourself.
“You smell good.” He hums quietly. “New perfume?”
“Yeah.”
“I like it.”
“Thanks.”
The rest of the ride was silent. It wasn’t awkward; there weren’t any emotions weighing heavy in the air. It was peaceful. Familiar. It made you reminiscence of the multiple late night rides he’d taken you on when he wasn’t able to sleep and didn’t want to be alone. You’d always sit snuggled into one of his blankets from home with your eyes closed, feeling the breeze of the wind blowing throughout the car and listening to him hum his favorite songs. His hand typically rested on your thigh giving it a loving squeeze every now and then to remind himself that you’re there even if you were half asleep.
That described your relationship. Peaceful. Loving. Familiar. Neither of you knew where it went wrong and that’s what hurt him the most. One day you both had decided that something didn’t feel the same in your heads anymore which led to confused hearts, and rather than stringing the other along you both decided to call it quits.
It’s no secret that Hyunjin took it a lot harder than you did. He loved you so much and wanted to fix things between you, but how could you fix the tangled mess that was in his mind? That wasn’t fair to you, and that’s why he let go.
It was hard at first. His everyday routine had revolved around either you or his job depending on what point in their career the boys were in, and unfortunately for him he couldn’t drown himself in work. So, he rearranged his apartment, he started trying new painting techniques, and going to the gym with Changbin who claimed that exercise was the best way to heal your brain. It worked for a while but he felt himself slowly falling into a slump that was hard to get out of. He spent more time crying than he did doing anything productive and he truly doesn’t think he would’ve made it through his depression episode without the help of his best friends. Then, their schedules picked up again and Hyunjin was slowly able to regain his smile with time, pushing those wonderful moments he shared with you to the back of his brain. He thought he’d finally accepted your ending and then he saw it.
An old picture of the two of you he had forgotten to delete from his phone still living in his memories album, “1 year ago” flashing across his screen with bold lettering as if it were taunting him.
It was a picture of you two on your second anniversary. He had taken you to Italy and let you live your “romcom fantasy” like you’d always told him you dreamed about. That trip was full of love, giggles, and experiences you told him that you’d never forget. If someone told him back then that you two wouldn’t be together the following year, he’d laugh in their face and call bullshit.
You were undeniably in love and you were meant to last forever.
That’s when the day dawned on him.
Your anniversary was tomorrow and there was no more love to be shared.
He tried not to think about it. He really did. However, Changbin had gone to visit his family and Hyunjin was all alone in their apartment with his thoughts. His mind spiraled and those feelings he thought were gone crawled their way back up his throat until he let out a bitter cry that bounced back at him from against the walls.
It turns out you can only bury and try to forget your feelings for someone for so long until something triggers it. Thats how he found himself taking deep breaths and focusing on the feel of the wind on his face to stop his stomach from churning, threatening to empty its contents in your car.
Twenty minutes later and you were practically carrying Hyunjin’s 5’10 frame into his apartment. You counted nearly four times that the two of you had nearly face planted onto the ground due to his lack of core and foot control, grumbling complaints of, “aren’t you supposed to have great foot work?”, and gaining giggles from him in return.
“What’s the code, Jinnie?” You question once you (hopefully) arrive at the right front door.
His long fingers tap at the keypad and an amused snort escapes his lips when the door flashed red.
Wrong code.
He types it again. Wrong code.
Then again. Wrong Code.
“Hyunjin!” You fight laughter.” You can’t be serious right now ?!”
“This is hard! The numbers are so tiny.”
“What’s the code? I’ll do it.”
He looks at you as if you’ve grown two heads. “I can’t tell you that. What if you break in and steal stuff or or you let the Stays in?”
You stare at the man that continues slurring his concerns of being robbed or seen naked in complete and utter disbelief. You forgot how amusingly idiotic he could be.
“Do you want to sleep outside of your front door tonight?”
“No?”
“Then tell me the code.”
He hesitates. “Promise you won’t tell anyone?”
“Hwang Hyunjin.”
“Promise?!”he shouts.
“I promise!” You shout back and hate that a laugh erupts from your chest halfway through.”You’re a fucking idiot.”
“I’m a cute idiot, though.” He dramatically bats his eyelashes and you give him a playful shove, your own body collapsing over itself in a fit of laughter when he lost his balance and into the wall, then progressed to the floor.
“You tryin’ to kill me, woman?!”
“For the love of God, Hyunjin. What’s the code to your apartment?!”
Nearly ten minutes standing at his front door like a pair of idiots had passed before you finally got the correct code and allowed Hyunjin to crawl his way in the door behind you. Their new dorm was a lot bigger and a lot nicer than the ones you had known previously, and it was surprisingly clean.
“Hey, Y/N. Want a tour of our new place? It’s so much nicer than the last one.”
“Let’s get you some water first and then you can show me, yeah?”
He bounced happily behind you as you made your way to the kitchen to find him some water of any shape or form. Upon opening the fridge you playfully rolled your eyes at the view: water, chicken, and some random ingredients that couldn’t have possibly made an actual meal. Why you expected anything different you weren’t sure.
Once Hyunjin downed the water and you made him assure you he wasn’t going to vomit, you allowed him to grab your hand and drag you through his apartment. He claimed he wouldn’t sleep until you saw every nook and cranny and complimented how clean they managed to keep it because he’d worked so hard while Changbin was gone.
Before long you had convinced him to finally wind down for bed. He was like a child almost. Hyunjin obediently went to brush his teeth, wash his face, and even placed his clothes in the laundry basket “just for you because I’m a clean guy. See?”
You watched as he cutely mumbled to himself about which pair of pajamas he wanted to wear to bed. One was the wrong color, one was too suffocating, and eventually he found what he called “baggy enough” to sleep in comfortably.
“Y/N you have to turn around.”
“What?”
“So I can put my pajamas on.”
“Hyunjin, you’re already half naked?”
You jumped at the sudden high pitched scream that left his lips, your eyes blown wide and your hand clutching your imaginary pearls. Hyunjin’s hands were dramatically tossed across his body as he attempted to cover himself from your sight.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
“You’ve been staring at me in my underwear?!”
“Are you serious right now?!”
“Turn around!”
“We’ve literally had sex and showered together?!”
“I’m shy, Y/N!”
“You’re unbelievable, I swear.” You’re slightly annoyed as you go to step out of the room but your breath catches as he grabs your waist to stop you.
“No, don’t leave, yet. Just- Just turn around…”
“You owe me for this, yanno?” You give him attitude, yet spin around to allow him to get dressed anyway. “I shouldn’t have to put up with you being an idiot all because you left me as an emergency contact.”
“I’m sorry. Just stay until I go to sleep?”
“Hyunjin-“
He interrupts and steals your heart for a second time as he turns you around to show off his pout and sad puppy dog eyes. “Please.”
So, you agree, allowing him to tug you into his bed and get settled and tucked in beside you. He rests his cheek onto your shoulder and you give the opposite cheek a pat, ignoring the pang you felt in your heart when he hummed contently and leaned into your palm, his lips pressing a small kiss to your wrist just as he used to.
“Get some sleep, Hyunjin.“
“Thank you for this, Y/N. Means a lot.”
“Just don’t get drunk like that in public again. You never know who’s out there watching you, Jinnie.”
“I know…I was just sad” he admits and before you can question him any further he request, “Can you play with my hair, Y/N?”
“Yeah…”
You missed him.
You had immersed yourself into your new job and setting up a new life to forget about the heartbreak you were going through, and now here you were on the verge of tears as he slowly fell asleep beside you. Those beautiful memories and the emotions hit you like a truck for the second time, as if you’d only broken up yesterday.
All because you were left as his emergency contact and he was too drunk to get home alone.
You fucking missed him.
Twenty silent moments had passed before you decided his breath evened out enough that he was nearly sleep. You slowly slipped his head from your shoulder and inched your way out of the bed. Taking one last look at his face was the biggest mistake you could’ve made. He looked so happy with his lips turned up slightly and his hair messy from you running your hands through it to lull him to sleep. You press a gentle kiss to his forehead and take small, quiet steps away from the bed to leave.
You were nearly out the door when his groggy voice echoed against the walls of his bedroom.
“Today’s our anniversary.”
The sudden announcement leaves shock evident on your face and a sting of tears in your eyes.
It had officially been one year, two months, and three days since you both chose to end your relationship and today was the day you would’ve celebrated your love for each other. It totally slipped your mind, but apparently it had been weighing heavy on his, and that’s part of what led to the breakup in the first place.
There’s tears glistening in his eyes as he smiles at you, your chest growing heavy and tears mirroring his own as his voice cracks with his next sentence.
“Happy three years, Y/N. I love you.”

Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) - Farewell pt.3
Farewell part 1, part 2
Champagne Problems part 1, part 2
The morning sun barely broke through the horizon as Max and Y/n arrived at the testing grounds together. For weeks, rumors had swirled around the paddock about their "alleged affair" and, for the most part, they'd managed to laugh it off. But after the meeting with the team and the drama surrounding the team, the pair decided to show up together, a silent, united front to dispel the whispers and show that they were united as a team.
But as they walked through the paddock side by side, the effect was far from what they expected. Every pair of eyes seemed to follow them, conversations abruptly pausing. Y/n shifted uncomfortably. "Why is everyone staring?" She muttered under her breath. "It’s alright." Max reassured her, though his jaw was tense. "The team’s handling the press releases today. Hopefully, that’ll shut it all down."
As they reached the Red Bull motorhome, the usual bustling atmosphere had stilled to an eerie silence. Team members turned their heads, looking at them with barely concealed shock. Y/N glanced around, feeling the weight of their stares. Her PR rep approached them, her face serious. "Max, Y/n." he said, motioning for them to follow her. "You both need to see the team bosses right now."
They exchanged a glance but followed, heading straight for Helmut Marko’s office. When they entered, they found Helmut, Christian Horner, the Head of Communications, and several higher-ups sitting around the table, their faces unreadable. Christian took a breath, his tone measured. "Before we begin, is there anything either of you would like to confess?" Max glanced at Y/n, both of them confused. They shook their heads. "Nope." Y/n said. "We’ve got nothing to confess."
With a grim expression, the Head of Communications pulled out a laptop and turned it toward them. The screen showed a grainy black-and-white security feed—of the Red Bull factory elevator. The footage began rolling, and Y/N’s heart sank as it showed them kissing in the elevator, the timestamp indicating it was just minutes after they’d both been in a meeting about the rumors. "Where did this footage come from?" Max demanded, his voice sharp. "How did it get out?" Christian’s expression hardened. "The point is, it wouldn’t have leaked if it hadn’t happened. This is exactly what we warned you both about."
Y/n felt her face flush as she looked down, shame and frustration twisting in her gut. They had acted unprofessionally—she knew that. But she never imagined the consequences would be this severe. "We’re taking care of that. It is not your concern." Helmut Marko said bluntly, his tone icy. "But I’m done with this distraction. Y/n, you’re being replaced on the team effective immediately. You’ll be handed a reserve driver role with VCARB." The words echoed in her mind, her heart dropping like a stone. The room faded around her, and she barely registered Max’s anger as he shot up, his voice rising. "This is ridiculous! You’re punishing her for-"
Helmut’s voice cut him off coldly. "If you don’t sit down, Max, you’ll face penalties as well." Y/n stared blankly ahead, her chest tightening as she absorbed the reality of what was happening. She’d worked her whole life to reach this level in F1, to compete alongside the best. And now it was slipping away because of one misstep.
With a shaky breath, she stood, squaring her shoulders. "I don’t want anything to do with this team if this is how it’s going to be." She said, her voice barely above a whisper. She slammed her paddock pass onto the table, and turned, walking out without another word, brushing away tears as they threatened to spill. She half-expected to hear Max’s footsteps behind her, but he didn’t follow. In the hallway, a team member placed a restraining hand on his shoulder. "Let her go, Max. You know the consequences if you don’t."
Hours later, Y/n was back in her hotel room, her suitcase lying open on the bed as she numbly packed her things. Her mind felt like it was spinning, her heart raw with the sting of betrayal and loss. She threw in her clothes, one item after the other, each fold of fabric a painful reminder of everything she was leaving behind.
Her phone buzzed, startling her from her thoughts. She hesitated, expecting some impersonal text from the team, but the caller ID displayed an unfamiliar number. Swallowing, she answered. "Hello?" A familiar voice, thick with a slight Austrian accent, filled her ear. "Y/n, it’s Toto." She blinked, her breath catching. "Toto?"
"I heard what happened." His tone was calm but edged with sympathy. "It’s a shame, really. Red Bull’s loss. But perhaps Mercedes could be your gain." She could hardly believe what she was hearing. "Are you saying?" A slight chuckle came over the line. "Let’s just say, there’s a seat here with your name on it, if you’re interested."

Can I make it up to you? - Nico Hischier x ofc
gif by kawhh
Title: Can I make it up to you?
Part V in the It Doesn’t Matter AU
Part I | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V | Playlist
Author: Tory / @tkwrites
Relationship: Nico Hischier x Lena (ofc)
Summary: When Lena is hit on at a Devils event and Nico responds by staking his claim rather than checking in to make sure she's okay, she’s understandably pissed. Though their ensuing fight is resolved, Nico still wants to make it up to her.
Warnings: Sexism and unwelcome advances followed by angst and then a lot of makeup sex. Smut (18+ only!): Fingering (f receiving), oral (f receiving), face sitting, squirting, unprotected p in v (wrap it up unless you’re in a consenting relationship!), spanking, and a bit of exhibitionism if you squint.
Word count: 8,000
Comments: Well, Nico and Lena are back. This piece is out of order (shocking for me, I know), but the missing piece will be written to fill in their story.
I had this idea of them having makeup sex that I just couldn’t shake. Which, of course, meant they had to get into a fight first. I’m sorry for the angst and all the sexism, but it gets better, I promise.
It's been so fun writing Nico into the feminist, romance hero of my dreams. I hope he might be yours, too.
If you did enjoy it, please consider letting me know by commenting, reblogging, or sending in an ask. Your encouragement and comments truly inspire me to keep writing.
Can I make it up to you?
Part V in the It Doesn’t Matter AU
Lena walked out of the bedroom, and Nico felt his eyes widen. He just stood there, slack jawed and blinking like a fish.
He couldn’t get over the fact that Lena was his date. His date. He got to take her out and have other people know she was with him. The feeling exploded in his stomach.
When she smiled and twirled, his tongue nearly fell out of his mouth.
The back of her dress was daringly open, held together by two thin ropes that criss crossed over her shoulder blades. A cowl of the smooth, dark fabric pooled at the small of her back. She wasn’t wearing a bra — at least not that he could see.
Her hair was down, just brushing her shoulders in soft, beachy waves. She’d refreshed the color the night before, so it was beautifully pastel pink, bringing out the green in her eyes and setting off the color of her skin. Her makeup was just enough to make her look bright and doe eyed.
He was going to have to look at her all night and still be expected to talk to people like a sane person? Fuck. Fuck fuck, fuck.
He finally managed to croak her name, and she giggled.
“You like it?”
Like it? He wanted to stay home and worship her in this dress. His mind filled with visions of tracing his lips from the drape of fabric all the way up her spine.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said, minding not to tell her she looked beautiful. She did, but Nina’s lectures about how to compliment women rang in his head.
“Thank you.”
Lena knew he would like this dress. She saw the way his eyes lingered when women on TV wore backless dresses like this.
Even still — even knowing — an enormous blast of pride ignited inside her when he was reduced to staring at her open mouthed. She’d chosen right.
She’d never worn anything like it before. Thankfully, Nicole had helped her pick it out and get the right bra to wear with it. The smooth, delicate fabric felt like a breath of fresh air on her skin.
Walking into the party, Nico couldn’t help feeling smug. When people turned to look at him this time, he was finally in a couple. Not only that, he was in a couple with the person hed dreamed about coupling with since he was seventeen. He wanted everyone to know she’d chosen him.
While he went about his schmoozing duties, Lena hung around with the other partners, talking and gossiping and sharing notes on each others outfits before their conversation finally gave way to real life. How people's kids were doing. How hard motherhood was when your partner was only there some of the time. What a weird thing it was to find yourself dating the boy you always dreamed you would. It was a bigger adjustment than she would have thought.
When she stepped away to order a drink, staying close to the bar to watch it being made, someone stepped up close to her. She figured it was Nico. He was the only one that stood this close. The illusion shattered as masculine voice asked, “so what’s your name?” in a strong Jersey accent.
Glancing over at him, she took stock. He was wearing a green suit that, on top of clashing against the olive undertones in his skin, was half a size too big for him. He needed a better tailor. And a better hair stylist. The garishly dark combover he was rocking was doing him no favors.
“Alaina,” she said. It wasn’t her name, but it had almost been. Her mother’s mother’s mother was named Alaina, but everyone in her life called her Lena. When it was time for her parents to name their first daughter, they decided to shorten it from the get go. She was named after great-grandma Lena after all. No need to make it complicated.
“That’s a beautiful name.” He reached forward slightly to brush the backs of his fingers up her arm.
She stiffened against his touch.
“I’m Reggie,” he said, confirming her suspicion that he might just be her fathers age. Lena felt her skin crawl. Why was a man his age even talking to a girl in her twenties, let alone flirting with her?
“It’s nice to meet you, Reggie,” she said, giving him a tight smile, “but I really should be getting back…” her words trailed off when she looked over her shoulder to find the other partners had moved on to a different part of the party.
Damn. There went her easy out.
“You know,” Reggie said, continuing as if he hadn’t noticed her looking for someone. “My company owns a box for the season if you’d like to catch a game.”
“I can get tickets.”
“In a box? I doubt it.”
Pursing her lips, Lena took a step back only to have him step forward to keep her from putting too much distance between them. Where was Nico when she needed him? Where was anyone? It was looking more and more like Reggie was the kind of guy who she’d either have to punch or run away from. Possibly both. She hoped she wouldn't have to resort to shouting.
He smiled as he seemed to realize no one was coming to her aid.
Lena gulped, feeling her heart begin to flutter in her throat. She pushed her drink aside just in case, grateful that, at least, they were in public.
Nico’s eyes found Lena again. That big guy was still looming over her at the bar. Through the open back of her dress, he could see how tightly her posture muscles were wound.
Excusing himself from his conversation, he made his way to her. She shouldn’t have to put up with this shit, and this dude needed to know she wasn’t here alone.
Spotting his forest green suit, Lena relaxed slightly, realizing Nico was walking toward them. She was going to be free of this douche at last.
Instead of turning his attention on her, though, Nico addressed Reggie as he walked up to them. “Hey man,” he said, slipping his arm possessively around her, his hand cradling her hip.
Reggies eyes darted between them, wide with recognition. The shock wore off quickly though, replaced by a kind of conspiratorial grin, “I should have known a girl like this was with one of you,” he said. “Though I didn't think they took kindly to you dating such rebels.”
Nicos eyebrows raised. Lena wasn't what he would call rebellious.
Instead of telling Reggie pink hair and a nose ring didn't make a rebel, or saying something about how he and Lena had known each other for years, or anything else, really, Nico took her completely by surprise when he said, “yeah, she’s not single.”
Her posture stiffened. She never saw this kind of cock slinging from Nico. He was usually so much kinder than that, not so concerned with being the bigger man.
With the Captain standing right in front of him, Reggie immediately launched into a discussion about how the team was doing.
Nico stood there and kept the conversation going, his hand still at her hip, forearm warm against her bare back. Were they in any other circumstance, she would have relished the feeling of his luxurious suit against her skin.
“Your scoring has really dropped off since the start of the season. Is something wrong you're not telling us?”
He said it with concern in his voice, but Lena knew it was a sentence crafted for maximum impact. She saw the shadow of guilt pass through Nico's eyes before he launched into a media-trained, rehearsed response about how he was trying his best, but sometimes, pucks just didn’t go in the net.
“You’ve got some —”
Nico cut her off. Even if it meant he was being insulted, he preferred it to this asshole leering at her again. He was trying to keep this creep's eyes off her.
She let out an affronted little snort, and he tried not to smile, touched that she was still willing to go to bat for him.
It was a solid five minutes of clipped, polite conversation before the guy finally got the hint and left.
Nico turned to her only to find her glaring. The triumphant smile slipped from his face.
“Let’s go get some air,” she said, turning on her heel and walking toward the balcony, breaking his grip in the process. Her tone was icy, and Nico braced for impact as he followed her, his bottle of beer clutched in his hand.
“What the fuck, Nico?” Lena asked quietly as soon as they were tucked into a dark alcove of the balcony, out of earshot from the other guests.
“Wha—”
“What the fuck was that?”
“I came to rescue you.”
“To rescue me?” she repeated, voice incredulous. “You didn’t even acknowledge me! You hardly even looked at me! I’ve never felt like such a possession.”
“I know men like that,” he tried to explain, “I was trying to get his attention off of you,”
“And in the process, you made me feel like some kind of dumb trophy.”
“A trophy?” he repeated.
“Yes! An ornament there to do nothing but make you look better,” she said. Her words and tone had maximum impact, smacking into him as if she’d hit him with her open palm.
Shit. He had done that. His first instinct had been to check on her, but he’d pushed it aside, wanting to let that guy know she wasn’t here alone. He knew he shouldn't have second guessed his gut reaction.
Goosebumps were rising on her arms in the cold night air. He slipped his jacket off and held it out to her.
His offering was met with a fierce glare. “I’m trying to have a serious conversation here, Nico.”
“I know, and I want to, but I can tell you're freezing,” he held the suit coat out again, “please.”
She took it from him and threw it on the ground. “Will you listen to me, now?”
Chastened, he nodded. “I’m sorry.”
God, why did he have to have those eyes? Those earnest, puppy dog, always wanting to do better, brown eyes.
“Nico, I needed rescuing, and instead, you came over and started dick measuring with that guy. Who, by the way, I’m pretty sure was old enough to be my father, but still hit on me.”
His jaw hardened. “He was hitting on you?”
“Yes.” Her voice took on a sarcastic tone, “what did you think he was doing? Telling me about his kids?”
“I don’t know…”
“For some reason, men of a certain age always think that having tattoos or piercings means you’re a slut.”
Wincing, he asked, “what did he do?”
“Well, he touched me for one.”
His jaw went hard, and a protective kind of anger flashed in his eyes.
“What?” Nico was going to kill him.
“Not like totally inappropriately,” she amended angrily. “He touched my arm, but it still made my skin crawl.”
What the fuck? Hadn’t there been enough media and enough talk for men to know they couldn't touch women without their permission? Even when someone asked for a picture, Nico never put his arm around them unless they did it first or they gave permission.
“Then he told me I should come watch a game in his company owned box,” she scoffed. “He totally ignored me when I said I had access to tickets.”
Anger flared in his chest. Not only was this dude a creep, he hadn’t even listened to her. “How can I be better?” he asked. Not only in this instance, but to be a better man.
“I wish you had checked in with me before you started engaging or telling him I’m not single. I don't belong to you.”
“I don't think you belong to me, Lena,” he said, hurt she would even think that.
“Really? The whole ‘yeah, she's not single’ thing,” she threw her voice into a distorted imitation of his own, accent and all, “coulda fooled me.”
“I didn't…” fuck. He had said that. “I was just trying to get him to focus on me instead. I don’t think you belong to me. You’re my girlfriend, I know that’s different.”
The really annoying thing was that Lena knew he was telling the truth. It wasn’t an empty pronouncement. He really was sorry. And everything she knew of him told her he would learn from this and try to get better. All the same, she wondered if he really got where she was coming from.
“Do you even understand why I'm upset?” she asked, arms dropping to her sides.
He'd royally fucked up if she was asking that. “Yes!” He schooled his voice into a less frantic tone and continued, “I understand.”
“What do you understand?”
“That you felt disrespected when I went straight into trying to solve the problem instead of checking to see if you were okay first.” It was something he often talked about with Nina and his mother. Women rarely wanted a solution to a problem. Most of the time, they just wanted someone to listen. And instead of doing that, he’d just barreled straight into fixing it. He knew better. He was a fucking idiot.
“Oh.” It was a more succinct explanation than she'd been expecting.
“I won’t ever do that again, Lena. I’m sorry,” he said, reaching out for her.
Thankfully, she came into his arms willingly, even tucking her cold nose under his jaw. He swallowed against the sensation and slid his hands over her back.
“Lena, you're like ice,” he chastised, trying to cover as much of her as he could.
Now that the adrenaline of anger was ebbing away, the cold seeped in — and it seeped in fast. She stepped closer to Nico to try to absorb some of his body heat.
“Can we get you inside?” he asked, rubbing her back. His hands were cold too, so he was sure it wasn’t doing any good, but it was better than nothing.
“Thank you for being willing to understand,” she said, ignoring his question.
It was such strange phrasing that Nico pulled back to look into her face. “Of course I’m willing.”
“Not all men are,” she said, tugging him back so their chests were once again flush.
The fact that she’d had to put up with assholes who didn’t even try to understand where she was coming from ate at him. She deserved better than that. He wanted to be better than that.
Holding her, out in the cold, he dared to look at the pieces of himself he didn’t like to. The ones that were jealous and overly eager to prove that Lena was with him. That guy hadn’t posed any competition, and he knew it. In his heart of hearts, he knew she would never do that to him. He had no reason to get defensive of their relationship and should have checked in with her first. She should have been his top priority, not how others saw him.
“I’m sorry, Lena,” he said, his voice quiet against her ear. “I let my pride come before how you were feeling.”
Damn him. This was why she could never stay mad at him. “Thank you.”
Her lips brushed against his neck when she said it, and it caused a shiver of a different kind to ripple over his skin.
“I love you,” he said.
She pulled back to look into those big brown eyes. “I love you, too.”
“Can I take you back inside now?” he asked. “I really don’t want you to get frostbite.”
“It’s not cold enough to get frostbite,” she said even as she broke away and bent to pick up his jacket.
He was momentarily mesmerized by her bare back in the winter moonlight and was still staring when she held his jacket out to him.
“I’m sorry I threw it on the ground,” she said, attempting to knock some of the dust off. It had been a childish thing to do, and she wished she could take it back. He’d just been trying to care for her, and she’d been so hellbent on making her point, she’d thrown his very sweet gesture into the dirt.
A half smile lifted the corner of his mouth. “I deserved it.”
“It was sweet, and I’m sorry I threw it back in your face.”
“It’s okay,” he assured, taking it from her and settling it on her shoulders.
The silk lining was cold against her skin, and she shivered.
“Let’s go inside,” he said, gently turning her around so he could lead her back to the party, his arm draped around her shoulders.
Snuggling into his side, Lena took a deep breath, readying herself to face the crowd of people again. At least no one had heard them arguing.
“Do you want to leave?”
“You need to stay, don’t you?”
“Well, yeah, but…”
The warm air in the ballroom stung as it collided with the chill on her skin. “I’ll stay with you,” she said, shrugging his jacket off and handing it back to him. She didn’t want to go home alone. She’d just be sitting there waiting for him anyway.
“Okay,” he said, leaning in to press a kiss to her temple.
“There you are!” Nicole exclaimed. “Were you two sneaking off? Naughty, naughty,” she teased, winking at Nico. “Though, I can’t really blame you with how good she looks in this dress.”
He gave her a bashful smile.
“Come on, Lena. Kristen was just about to tell us the funniest story.”
Allowing herself to be pulled into the party, Lena glanced back at Nico. She sent him a smile and a little wave. The last thing she saw before the crowd closed around them was his cheeky wink, as he mouthed, ‘I love you.’
An hour later, they were tucked into the back of an Uber on the way home. Lena was playing with Nico’s fingers as she recounted Kristen’s story about Eric trying and failing to make dinner while caring for their kids and dogs.
He laughed, glad that after the night they’d had, she was still willing to share these silly stories with him.
“We’re okay, right?” he asked, entwining his fingers with hers.
“Yeah,” she said, lifting her face so their eyes met. Her anger had faded almost completely. “Of course we’re okay.”
A sigh let go in his chest.
“Nico,” she raised a hand to cradle his jaw, “I know you weren’t trying to hurt me or anything. I know you better than that. It just kind of struck a nerve, and I lost my temper.”
Shooting her a rueful smile, he corrected, “you had every right to be upset with me. I was an ass.”
She laughed, “you kind of were.”
Leaning over, he pressed a kiss to her temple and let his voice drop low, “can I make it up to you?”
“Make it up to me?” she repeated, eyes darting to his. Was he implying what she thought he was?
His brown eyes smoldered as he nodded.
“What did you have in mind?”
“Whatever you want,” he murmured, dipping his lips to her neck.
Tipping her head to give him more access, she found her voice suddenly much breathier than it had been. “I think we can arrange for that.”
He pulled away only when the car pulled up to their building.
The smug little smile on her face as they rode the elevator nearly made him start to pant. He knew what that smile meant.
Pausing as they passed through the kitchen, Nico asked, “do you mind if I grab something to eat before?” The food at those parties was never quite enough.
She shook her head. “I’ll meet you in your room.”
Although she hadn’t slept in her own bed in weeks, she hadn’t really moved anything into his room, so it didn’t quite feel like theirs.
A few minutes later, perched on the end of the bed, she watched him come in, admiring the way he moved in his beautiful, dark green suit. The vest hugged his torso in a way that made him look deliciously thick. That had certainly changed since they were seventeen.
Nico stopped in front of her, swallowing the last bite of apple.
“What do you want?” he asked. God, his accent was already thick, and he hadn't even touched her.
She leaned back and swept her hair from her face before bracing with that arm, too. “I want to watch you undress.”
Nodding, he swallowed hard. “Do you want it a certain way?”
Shaking her head, she said, “just go slow.”
He started with his tie. The slip of the silk under his shirt collar was a hypnotic whisper.
Watching her watch him made him breathless with anticipation. It was an incredible turn on, knowing she didn’t want him to be anything but who he already was. He knew she didn’t want a performance.
“Can I hang this up?” he asked, holding up the suit coat.
She nodded.
He walked into the closet and came back with a hanger. He removed his vest and hung it up before covering it with the coat.
“Your hands are so sexy,” she breathed, watching him work the buttons of his shirt, top to bottom.
His dimple winked at her.
Glancing up, he asked, “do you want me to get you off with them?”
“Uh hu,” she breathed. She was still reclined on the bed, but her legs were now crossed, attempting to get some friction between her thighs. Just the thought of it, of his casual offer to bring her pleasure, had desire singing through her veins, ending hot and heavy between her legs.
He worked on the buttons of his cuffs, watching her. Her face was flushed, eyes blown dark with lust. Finally, he shouldered off the button down and tossed it behind him to be added to the hamper later.
“Undershirt first,” she said when he reached for the button of his pants.
Not bothering to hide her need, she drank in the movement of his arms and chest as he worked the shirt over his head. She squeezed her legs a little tighter together.
He paused for a moment then, letting her drink in the sight of him shirtless in those incredibly well tailored trousers.
“Turn around,” she said.
“Why?”
“Because I want to admire your ass in those pants.”
He blushed but did as she requested, adding in a little shake.
She laughed, then let out a groan as he stilled and flexed slightly, showing off his toned back.
When he looked over his shoulder, she’d collapsed back on the bed.
“I can’t wait.”
“Wait for what?” he asked, turning back around.
“I can’t wait for you to touch me.”
He took a step forward. When she didn’t stop him, he took another and another until he was standing right in front of her. Reaching down, he slid one of his hands up her smooth calf. The soft fabric of her dress bunched around his wrist as his hand slid onto her thigh.
Lena moaned, and it shot straight to his groin. He loved that sound more than any other in the world. “This is good?” he asked.
“Yes.”
He tried to push the skirt up over her hips, but her hand caught his forearm, halting the movement. “Need it now,” she said, guiding his hand between her legs.
The smile he gave her was wicked. Moving her underwear out of the way, he dipped his fingers into her sweet, wet heat. “You’re dripping.”
Her back arched, trying to get her clit closer to his hand. “Yeah. I’ve had to look at you in that fucking suit all night.”
It was always a pleasant surprise when she said things like this. When it became evident that she wanted him just as much as he wanted her. “I’ve been half hard looking at you in this dress all night,” he admitted, finally adjusting so the heel of his hand pressed into her.
She made a keening noise and ground against him. “Bought it just for you.”
As her admission pulled even more blood from his brain, his entire body froze.
“Nico!” she complained.
He snapped back to himself and started moving again, curling his fingers inside her and following the wave of her hips.
“Oh,” she moaned, head thrown back. “Just like that.”
He hadn’t been able to touch her like this for very long, but in the short amount of time he had, he’d been an attentive student. He seemed to remember everything she told him about what she liked.
“Nico.” The way she said his name while they were making love was a symphony in his ears. What had he ever done in his life to deserve to be in this moment? Especially after fucking up so terribly that evening.
“What do you need?” he asked, pressing a little harder.
Breath rushed from her mouth, “kiss me.”
Fingers still buried inside her, he covered her body with his and captured her mouth. He swallowed every noise she made until she broke away, panting.
“Right there,” she moaned, hips rolling. Something about the way he was touching her, fingers crooked just so, had fire licking through her veins. “Keep your fingers right there.”
Working the spongey spot inside her, he breathlessly awaited her climax.
“I —” The words she was going to say fell right out of her brain. They came crashing back with sudden force as Nico continued his magic. “I’m gonna come.”
“Yes. I love it when you come for me.”
Pleasure, more intense than she’d ever felt before, broke open inside her and, clutching the comforter, Lena cried out.
Nico watched her face, fascinated, as he felt her release slick his fingers .
“Fuck,” he groaned, “you’re so sexy.”
The pleasure kept coming until sensitivity turned his touch into a branding iron. Squirming away, she croaked, “too much. Too much.”
Slipping his hand from her and out from under her dress, Nico watched her chest rise and fall in sharp little gasps as he brought it to his mouth.
“Oh my god,” she said, eyes fixed on the ceiling.
She could practically feel Nico’s wide smile.
“I’ve never felt anything like that.”
“Really?”
“What did you do?”
“What do you mean?”
“You were doing that,” she held up her hand, crooking her fingers as if beckoning him to her.
“Someone told me it was the best way,” he said, a blush darkening his cheeks.
“Someone?”
“Courtney,” he admitted.
Courtney had been a girl he’d hooked up with on and off whenever he was in New Jersey. One of them would snap the other, and they’d meet up, usually every few weeks. When Lena had moved in, he’d stopped responding to her, and she’d eventually stopped asking.
Lena only met her once but instantly disliked her, later telling him, “I don’t know, she’s just so obsessed with herself. She hardly even acknowledged I was there.”
It had been awkward to watch the two of them interact. Courtney, who Nico knew liked him more than he liked her, and Lena, who at the time, he thought didn’t like him the way he liked her. It had put them in an awkward triangle of disproportionate feelings. When Courtney had left to go home, she told him, “you’re so full of shit, Nico. When you two figure out what the hell is going on between you, let me know.”
He’d been affronted at the time, hurt she would insinuate he and Lena had anything together. Now, looking back, he could understand how uncomfortable it must have been for her to be stuck between two people so in love with each other. She must have felt like he was playing games with her. She’d still spent the night in his bed when he asked her to come over three weeks later, though.
“Hu,” Lena said, holding herself back from continuing, at least she was good for one thing.
“Have you never…” he trailed off.
“Never what?”
His blush was back, “Have you never…I mean, wasn’t that your…” he had to pause, trying to remember the word, “your g-spot?”
A series of puzzle pieces clicked into place all at once. “I wasn’t sure I had one,” she admitted, turning her head to look into his face. “I’ve never been able to find it.”
Half of his mouth curved in an amused smile. “None of your boyfriends tried?” he asked, tracing the edge of her dress, where it curved around her shoulder. He’d daydreamed of making Lena come like that for years — ever since Courtney taught him what the g-spot was and how to find it.
“No,” she snorted. “Milo gave decent head, but none of them were as invested as you are.”
His vision flared red for a moment before fading back to normal. Most of him was smug that he’d been the first one to find hers, but a part of him was angry she’d wasted so much time on losers who didn’t deserve her.
Lena sighed. No wonder she’d never felt anything like that. She never had.
“What do you want?” Nico asked, his hand slipping down her side, sliding over the slippery fabric with ease.
“Hm?”
“What do you want?” he repeated, “I’m making it up to you, remember?”
“I want to sit on your face,” she said, not missing a beat.
Nico grinned. He loved getting her off with his mouth, but the prospect of getting her off with his mouth while she was above him and he could see her beautiful face? What a dream.
“You’ll have to help me get this dress off,” she said, standing from the bed. “It’s taped.”
“Taped?” he repeated, sitting up.
She turned her back to him, and before she could explain what she meant, he made good on his earlier promise to himself, trailing his lips from the cowl pooled at her low back up to the little ropes holding the dress on.
Lena hummed, a shiver running through her body. If he was going to have this reaction all the time, she was never covering her back again.
“What did you need?” he asked, lips whispering over the top of her spine, just under her short hair.
“Nicole helped me tape it,” she said, running a hand under one of the sides until it caught, “so it wouldn’t fall off, or accidentally expose something.”
His fingers followed hers, easing the tape from her skin before repeating on the other side.
She turned around, grasping the fabric at her hips so she could lift the dress over her head.
Nico drank in each movement, his dick twitching when the black lace of her underwear was exposed.
She thought about hanging it up, but there was a wet spot from her orgasm that would need to be cleaned off before she could wear it again. Instead, she tossed it aside, so it draped artfully across the floor.
He made a low noise in his throat.
She stood before him in black pumps, a tiny pair of black lace underwear and a bra that was some kind of free-standing contraption. No straps and no band. As she went about removing it, he realized it was stuck to her skin. It must not have been that uncomfortable, though. The red marks had already mostly faded when she discarded it with the dress.
After easing her thong off, Lena held it out to him, hooked on one finger. She’d bought it, wanting to see it tucked into his pocket by the end of the night. While she’d been getting dressed, she’d wondered if it might end up there before they left the gala, but that hadn’t worked out. Good thing, too. Everyone would have known. That dress really didn’t hide anything.
“God, you’re perfect,” he breathed, taking the underwear from her and tucking it into his pants pocket.
Preening, she motioned for him to lay back.
He did, scooting up to the pillows to get in a comfortable position.
Lena waited for him to get settled before straddling him.
Watching her crawl up his body, knowing where she was going to end up, was perhaps the hottest thing he’d ever experienced in his life.
“After this,” she said, hovering over him, just close enough that the only thing he could smell was her sweet, humid heat, “I want you to bend me over the bed and fuck me.”
“Okay.”
Like he could say no to anything she wanted while they were in this position.
She made a satisfied humming noise and lowered to his mouth.
He groaned, hands coming up to grasp her hips, fingers digging into the flesh to keep her on top of him. He wanted to keep her here as long as possible.
He played with her clit, then licked through her, savoring the juices that gathered on his tongue. He hummed just to see her squirm and her nipples tighten.
When he tried to pull away, and she followed him with a whine, he couldn't help but laugh.
“Touch yourself for me,” he urged before latching his mouth back onto her.
Clutching the headboard with one hand for balance, she toyed with her nipple with the other.
The sight of it made his dick jump in his pants. “Das ist es,” he murmured, purposefully not bothering to translate. She always seemed to like it when he used his native language in bed, especially if it was praise.
Her head tipped back with a groaned, “oh fuck,” as she moved to the other breast.
The need to get her off, to make sure she had the best orgasm possible, was a palpable itch he needed to scratch. It felt like he might just die without it. Keeping his left hand at her hip for balance, he brought the other to her center.
Feeling his fingers tease her entrance, Lena popped her hips back to facilitate him. She was rewarded with a low hum of appreciation and a wink.
Reveling in her expression — eyes rolled back, lashes fluttering and jaw slack — Nico continued his pursuit, easing two fingers into her, determined to find her g-spot. He’d done it before, he could surely do it again.
He knew he'd found it, not only from the slightly different, spongey texture but also from the stuttered moan of pleasure that crawled up her throat.
Her left hand smacked back onto the headboard, grasping desperately for balance as her hips rolled atop his face.
Milking her clit with his mouth, he worked his fingers in and out and up and down until she was trembling above him, chanting, “Yes! Nico, yes!”
He hummed back, moaning as a fresh wave of her arousal slicked over his chin. If this wasn’t about him making up for being such a prat, he would beg her to turn around so he could feel her mouth at the same time.
This was a whole new feeling. The combination of Nico’s extraordinary mouth, along with his magic fingers, was the catalyst for a series of reactions Lena had never felt together before. First, there was the intense heat that shimmered over her skin, then the pleasure that zinged from her core all the way up to her brain, and through her legs, right to her toes, still tucked into her pumps. Finally, there was the swirl of emotion and sensation that took up residence in her low belly. All together, they resulted in an orgasm so intense, she didn’t even have words to describe it.
Color and sound and heat rushing through her until they swelled to bursting, unleashing all over Nico’s face.
Choking out a groan of surprise as Lena’s orgasm gushed over his hand and flooded his mouth, he tried to commit every detail of this night to memory. He’d never made a woman squirt before and was bound and determined to remember everything so he could recreate it. He wanted to experience this over and over again.
She practically fell off of him, and they lay there, gasping.
“Jesus Christ,” he murmured, swiping at the liquid dripping off his neck. He had no idea if it was her release or his own sweat. He didn’t care.
“Fuck me,” Lena breathed, her hand coming up to her forehead in disbelief. “You’re just bringing all sorts of things out of me today.”
Nico started to giggle, and Lena couldn't help but join in. They soon found themselves rolling toward each other, overtaken with laughter. It ended up being both of their favorite memories of the night. Yes, Nico had just made her come so hard she saw stars, but this — this laughing together in the middle of it all felt so…comfortable. It was a reminder that at it’s core, their relationship hadn’t changed all that much.
“I love you so much,” Nico laughed against her mouth.
“I love you, too,” she said before silencing him with a kiss.
He moaned and pulled her on top of him.
After a few more minutes of passionate kissing, chests still occasionally shaking with laughter, Lena pulled away. Grinding her core against his stomach - knowing it drove him wild - she said, “well, I think I’m plenty prepped.”
He grinned and managed to tamp down most of his laughter.
Helping her off of him, he watched her stand and brace her hands on the mattress before hauling himself out of the bed and shoving his pants down. When he’d pulled the hanger from the closet, he’d intended to hang them up, but the prospect of fucking her stole too much of his brain power to care anymore. So they stayed heaped on the floor as he took his place behind her, rutting his hard cock against her.
She moaned and popped her hips back to grind on him. If she kept that up, he was going to come before he even got inside her.
What was it she’d said? I want you to bend me over the bed and fuck me. Bringing a hand to the back of her neck, he pushed her forward until her chest pressed flush to his mussed comforter.
Her heels were still on, and even though they pitched her legs forward at an awkward angle, forcing her to grasp for balance with her toes, she was glad she hadn’t kicked them off. She would have been too short without them, and there was something so hot about having to rely on him for her balance.
Lena moaned. She’d dreamed of this so many times. Of him coming into her room, pressing her down to the bed, or sweeping everything off her desk to bend her over the hard surface, and using those powerful legs and hips to fuck her brain into mush. When he told her, however you want me, she knew she had to take advantage.
Fuck, she was the sexiest thing he’d ever seen in his life. Seeing her bent over like this, with her beautiful back and the ample curves of her ass and hips on full display, was the fulfillment of a fantasy he hadn’t even known he had. He felt like the luckiest man on the planet.
“You like that?” he asked, sliding his erection through her wet center.
Shifting her hips back, trying to entice him inside her, she breathed, “yes.”
He took the bate, but only teased her entrance with the thick head of his cock.
“Nico,” she whined.
“Hm?” he asked, enjoying this far more than he ever thought he would.
“Fuck me.”
Something occurred to him suddenly, “do we need a safe word?”
She was too busy trying to get more of him inside her without falling over to respond.
Easing back as he lifted his hand off her neck, he asked, “what’s your safe word? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“You won’t hurt me.”
“Lena,” he admonished.
“Fine,” she huffed, mind whirring, “cantaloupe.” She’d bought one just the day before, and it was the the first thing that popped into her mind that didn’t sound too close to something she might yell out naturally, like puck, which was the first word she’d thought of. “Now fuck me.”
A deep groan let go in his chest, and Nico pressed her back down, hand now resting between her shoulder blades. “This is okay?” he asked.
“Yes,” she huffed, frustration evident in her voice, “come on.”
His only response was to trace his thumb over her skin.
“Please,” she whined, not caring that she sounded desperate and needy. She felt desperate and needy.
Chuckling, he gave her no warning before burring his cock in her sweet, tight center.
Hands fisting the comforter, Lena’s back swayed like a snake as an animalistic cry flew from her mouth.
This kind of standing doggy, which she found allowed for stronger thrusting than kneeling, had always been one of her favorite positions. It felt new with Nico, though, who was thicker than any of her previous partners. He hit spots in her she never knew she had and filled her in a way she didn’t think was possible.
Panting, she moved with him. The solid feel of him behind and inside her made her desperate for more. “Nico,” she moaned. Whatever else she was going to say jumbled in her mouth as he withdrew to the tip before burying himself back in her warmth.
God, she was the most amazing woman he’d ever met. Her head was turned, so he got a view of her blissful expression in profile as she moaned and panted for him. The sight of her ass bouncing off his hips had him desperate to do things he’d never imagined himself doing before. Good thing they had a safe word. She might just need to use it.
His free hand came down on her ass with a sharp slap before he grabbed the globe of it, kneading the muscle.
She cried out.
“That’s good?” he asked, wanting to make sure it wasn’t a cry of pain.
“Yes,” she moaned, “so good, Nico.” She’d never liked getting spanked before. Then again, she’d never trusted someone like she trusted Nico. She knew he wouldn’t push it too far, which had always been her hesitation with the guys who tried it before. When Nico did it, it sent so much unexpected electricity rocketing through her system, she couldn't let go of the idea of him doing it again.
He switched hands, so his right pressed into her back, and his left was free to smack her other cheek until it was red enough to match its partner. There was something incredibly arousing about knowing she trusted him to do this. That she found it hot, too.
Back arching with the pleasurable pain, Lena begged, “harder.”
“You want me to spank you harder?” he asked, a little surprised. He hadn’t exactly been gentle about it.
Her head shook, just slightly, “Fuck me. Fuck me harder, Nico.”
Sliding his hands over her curves and onto her hips to get a good grip, he got into a more grounded stance and snapped his hips to hers.
The fulfillment of this fantasy nearly drove Lena out of her mind.
Her face turned slightly, so her shout was muffled by the comforter. Which was a shame, really. He wouldn’t mind his neighbors overhearing this. Especially that dick next door who checked her out every time they passed by each other in the hall.
Unable to hold it in, he moaned, “You’re so perfect for me, Lena.”
“Yes,” she chanted, “for you, Nico. Only for you.”
He wanted to make her come around his cock, but her declaration had a surge of heat streaking through him, so hot that his resolve crumbled in one fell swoop.
“Fuck, gonna come,” he groaned, his rhythm turning sloppy and swift.
“Yes,” her hips tipped, just so, making her even tighter.
The sensations became too much, and her name burst from his mouth in a shout.
Feeling his hot release spill into her, Lena moaned.
Joints liquified by his orgasm, Nico collapsed, his chest pressing into her sweaty back.
It took a few moments before he could get his mouth to work right. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled into her hair.
“For what?” she laughed.
Feeling came back into his legs, and he eased out. “Didn't last long enough for you to get off.”
With his weight off her. Lena crawled onto the bed, desperate to give her legs a rest. Her heels clunked to the floor, one after the other.
He climbed on beside her, pulling her against him.
“You know,” she said as she turned over so they were face to face, “just because I didn't get off that one time doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself.”
“You deserve to get off whenever I do,” he argued.
“That's really sweet, Nico,” she assured, a hand coming up to caress his cheek and push his hair from his face. She knew he had a tendency to be too hard on himself, wanting everything to be perfect every time. “But don't forget you just made me come so hard I squirted.”
He scoffed, “like I could ever forget that.”
“And it's not like you came without getting me off,” she assured, tracing soft patterns on his scalp. “It evens out in the end.”
He made a discontented noise but didn't argue.
She let it drop. “Let's go clean up, yeah? If you're really worried about it, you can get me off in the shower.”
Pulling her even closer and burying his face in her neck, he told her, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she said, fingers carding through his hair. “Now, come on. I need to shower. You've made a right mess of me.”
Laughing, he slid off the bed and lifted her into his arms.
He deposited her onto the bathroom counter and started the shower.
“You’re sure you’re okay?” he asked, concern in his eyes as he studied her face.
“With what?”
“I didn’t hurt you?”
She shook her head, “no. I would have told you if you did. I know you would have stopped if I told you to.”
A relieved sigh let go in his chest.
He lifted her off the counter and followed her into the shower.
After soaping each other up, Nico did spend some time on his knees, getting her off not just once but several more times. He was too taken with her shaking legs and panting mouth as her hands sunk into his hair to stop at one.
“I did enough?” he asked a while later, after pajamas had been donned, and they’d crawled into bed.
“Enough what?”
“I made it up to you?”
“Mmmhmmm…” she mumbled sleepily.
Tucking himself against her, he relished the warmth of her body pressed against his.
“I forgave you long before I got naked, though,” she said, feeling it was important to clarify. “The awesome sex was just a bonus.”
He chuckled softly, pressing a few soft kisses to her shoulder.
“I love you,” she said, voice slow with fatigue.
“I love you, too. Thank you for believing in me.”
“You’re the best man I’ve ever known, Nico.”
Heart swelling in his chest, he pulled her a bit closer and settled in to fall asleep.

Three’s Company
This is just a lil blurb about Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan and you being in love! Based on the following Request: @satans-bitch Hi! Idk if you would be comfortable writing it, but I love the idea of Aaron hotchner x reader x Derek Morgan just all being so in love with each other. Thank u Xx – I took some creative liberties…I hope you like it!
Hotch x BAU! Fem Reader x Morgan
Word count: 883
REQUESTS ARE OPEN - not edited - please be kind. Requests are open and feedback is welcome if it's constructive!
Warnings: My blog is 18+, minors DNI, Fem reader, pet names, poly-relationship (I’m not the most familiar with this lifestyle) canon typical violence, mantion of babies and pregnancy, Let me know if I missed any.
I do not consent to having my work translated or reposted to any other site. That being said I do not own the characters portrayed in this story.
So, neither Derek nor Aaron ever and I mean EVER thought they’d be in a polyamorous relationship. But let me tell you, when you arrived at the BAU, they both knew they had to have you. Aaron had gone to Dave time and time again seeking advice and Derek did the same with Penelope.
They’d both complain that there was no way you were interested, because clearly you like the other guy. Only, that wasn’t quite the issue.
You didn’t just like Aaron or Derek, you liked them both. They were so similar and yet so different and there was no way you could ever choose just one of them.
After many instances of the men fighting for your attention and affection, you pulled them both aside to have a serious conversation.
“I think I should leave the BAU.” You stated.
“What? No!” Derek blurted.
“Why would you think that?” Aaron inquired. “If our behavior has made you uncomfortable, I am so sorry. It was never my intention, and I would hate to see such a talented agent leave because of my idiocy.”
“It’s not your guy’s behavior that’s making me feel this way. It’s my feelings for you.” You said, gesturing to both men.
“Feelings for who?” Derek questioned.
“Both of you.” You blushed.
That evening you’d explained to the men that you had feelings for both of them and had the situation been different you’d have suggested a poly relationship, but you knew that it was too much to ask of two alpha males who’d never been in one before.
What you hadn’t expected to happen was for them to give you a quizzical look and then ask you to give them some time to think about it.
--
It had been nearly a year since then and the three of you had developed something truly beautiful. Aaron had been so stoic at work but at home he was soft, and he always did everything in his power to ensure you and Derek were both cared for.
And well Derek, he was clingy at home. Always wanting his hands on you and he’d come to really enjoy having physical contact with Aaron.
Like when you’d watch a movie, Aaron would have his arm slung over the back of the couch while you cuddled up into his side, and Derek would be sitting as close to you as possible, practically sitting you in his lap. This position would allow for Aaron’s hand to rest around Derek as well and that warmth became a comfort for him.
There had been another shift shortly after that, pet names…they’d been slipping out more frequently. And not just them men using them with you either.
“Sweetheart can you pass me my phone?” Aaron had asked, looking directly at Derek.
“Sure thing sugar.” Derek had replied.
You had been shocked initially, but it ultimately had warmed your heart to see them falling into this relationship more and more. Their comfort in this had been your main priority, you hadn’t cared about anything else.
--
Work had been the toughest part of this newfound dynamic. When any of you got hurt on a case, the other two couldn’t exactly hold it together. And with the team being out of the loop of your lifestyle, well they definitely suspected something.
The most recent had been Aaron, he had been shot while taking down an unsub. Thankfully it had been a flesh wound, but when you heard the shot and saw him go down, you couldn’t help the wail that tore through you. The paramedics had requested you step away, and Derek pulled you into his embrace to get you to comply.
“Baby he’s gonna be okay!” Derek said while holding you close.
“He was shot D! What if he’s not?” You cried.
“I know he’s gonna be okay baby. He has to be.” Derek mumbled the last part.
You looked up to see the tears falling from his misty eyes, and you held him tighter. The team sat by and watched the situation play out, fully convinced now that something was transpiring between the three of you. More than they had initially assumed.
--
The newest development had been the discussion of children. The guys had baby fever, they had seen you interacting with your sister’s newborn and you swear you saw them both drooling over the sight of you.
So…have you ever thought about having kids princess?” Derek posed.
Currently you were lying on the couch, your head in Derek’s lap and him pressed against Aaron. The movie playing, long forgotten as Derek combed his fingers through your hair and Aaron traced shapes on Derek’s bicep.
“Um, yes…I have thought about it. Why do you ask?” You sat up.
“Well, honey, we had a conversation about it the other day.” Aaron clarified.
“You two…had a conversation about me having a baby?” You questioned.
“About us…having a baby.” Derek said, gesturing to the three of you.
Your jaw dropped in shock. What had started as inappropriate flirting in the workplace had developed into a serious relationship between the three of you. One fueled by love, safety, and trust.
“I would love to have a baby with you guys.” You smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you.”
“I love you.”

Around the World Part 7
I know I said that Nanny would be out this week, but I just finished this and am really wanting to get it out as soon as possible and that includes the epilogue.
But if I time it right, this series and Hellfire will end the same week and I'll be able to return to some kind of normal schedule instead of pumping these out on a fucking grinder.
That said, I probably won't do a Christmas story with the way things are right now. But we'll see the closer we get to the holiday.
In this we get the proper Jack the Ripper tour and the author has opinions, okay! Steve draws attention to himself at the Paris Opera house. Murray is a bit too knowing. And of course as @val-from-lawrence guessed, visited the Catacombs!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
~
They had done the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral during the day and got ready for the Bauman Experience as Murray called it. They all had a flashlight and went to go meet him where they had the night before.
They caught him dealing with some obnoxious tourists.
“Oh thank god!” the Karen cried. “An American. Could you please explain to this woman that we only have dollars to pay with. She has to take it!”
Murray blinked at her for a moment. “Well that is quite the cock up, you absolute muppet. Are you dead from the neck up? British pound sterling is the brass here, you silly cow!”
The woman’s head reared back in shock, clutching her chest. “I beg your pardon!”
“To make it perfectly clear,” Murray said leaning forward into her space. “You fucked up, you moron. Are you really that stupid? Dollars aren’t the currency here, the British pound is. Just like you can’t use the pound anywhere but here, you can’t use the dollar anywhere but America so why don’t you go to an ATM or bank and get it exchanged. Or and here’s the really neat part about living in the age of technology, use or credit or debit card and your bank does the conversion for you.”
When she started sputtering angrily, Murray waved her off. “Now, shoo! I’ve got actual paying customers waiting for me.”
Murray turned to the four of them with a smiled. “Well, hello! Welcome. Now that things are dark and therefore sufficiently spooky, let’s take you on a proper tour of Jack’s slaying grounds.”
He went through the different murders until he got to the double murders of Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes.
“Now,” he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, “Miss Stride is usually considered his third victim and that he was interrupted, moving on to Miss Eddowes. But I think Stride was a copycat. The person only knew the bodies were mutilated, but not how. So for me, I don’t count her in the confirmed kills.”
Robin nodded sagely. “I don’t either. There was far too little evidence to prove he had been frightened off, because otherwise Eddowes would have been more brutal than it was. He would have been angry he couldn’t finish with Stride. You would have expected her to look like what Mary Kelly’s body looked like, not cool and calm.”
Murray smiled up at her. He turned to Eddie. “I really like her. She’s clever.”
Robin blushed and ducked her head.
A short time later, just as they were wrapping up the Kelly murder, Murray stopped. He looked at a pair of older teenagers and then back at the group.
Chrissy picked up on it first. “You thinking what, I’m thinking, Mur?”
Murray turned to her and cocked his head to the side, considering. He nodded and Chrissy pursed her lips.
Steve caught on just as quick. “Eds, baby. I think those boys may have guessed who you are, love.”
Robin and Eddie shared a concerned glance.
“Fuck,” Eddie huffed. “I liked this jacket.”
Robin grabbed it from him and gave him her jacket. “Mine doesn’t look as fancy,” she explained pulling his jacket on. “Just like Boston, peeps!”
Murray tilted his head to the side and did a quick Google search. “Or... if you’d like, my car is literally around the corner.”
The four of them stopped swapping clothes and looked up at him.
“That’s easier,” Steve said. “Who’s all for easier?”
The other three raised their hands and they followed Murray to his car. Robin sat up front while Steve and Chrissy covered Eddie between them.
“Drop me off at the hotel,” Steve said, tapping on Murray’s shoulder. “I’ll check us out and then meet you at Shakespeare’s Head.”
Murray looked behind him and grinned. “Smart thinking.”
~
Eddie had changed into a trucker hat and a puffy hunting vest over sturdy blue jeans and thick work boots.
“Kids and their cameras these day,” Murray huffed, sliding a pint of beer over at Steve as he sat down between Robin and Chrissy. “So what’s the story with loverboy here?” he asked Eddie, cocking his head to indicate Steve.
“He’s not out,” Eddie said dryly. “His parents are complete assholes who could and would make things very difficult for him if he was.”
“Nothing says asshole parents,” Murray said with a nod, “quite like those that have the money to make you miserable.”
Steve snorted. “You’ve got that right. But I’m more than equipped to make it work.” He half shrugged. “I’ve been doing it for almost a year.”
Murray’s went wide and he gave an opened mouthed smile. “Have you really? I would have never guessed. Good job! ”
“How did you spot the kids, by the way?” Robin asked around her fruity cocktail.
“Oh,” Murray said, ducking his head a bit. “You’re walking around a small group of people at night in a bad area of London. Whitechapel isn’t as bad as it was in Jackie’s time, but it’s still not a good neighborhood. You have to keep an eye out for people, but especially older teens wishing to knock you over for a bit of loose change.”
Steve cleared his throat and ducked his head. “I am about to ask the most bougie question imaginable. And you can tell me to go to hell if I’m out of line here.”
Murray’s eyebrows went up and he leaned back in his chair. “Wha’cha got, kid?”
Steve licked his lower lip as he tried to word this in a way that wasn’t instantly offensive. “How entrenched are you in this job?”
“Not very,” he replied with a shrug. “I’m just moving through the world enjoying myself and taking jobs that would be fun. I’ve got more than enough money. Why?”
“We were talking in our group chat,” Chrissy explained taking over from a very embarrassed Steve, “and we thought we’d offer you a job as main look out and part time driver for when we’re in Europe. You really saved Eddie today and we could really use someone like you with us.”
Murray glared at her. “You sure I wouldn’t cramp your little foursome you’ve got going on here’s style?” He made a little circling motion with his hand to indicate all of them.
Robin shook her head. “It’ll make it harder for people to recognize a quartet if it suddenly became a quintet. Plus, we’d pay for your room and board. None of us are skint, believe you me.”
“We’ll be staying in haunted hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts,” Eddie added. “But we won’t force you to join us. We can put you up in a nice place nearby and we join back up whenever we go out.”
Murray eyed them suspiciously until Steve slid over an envelope. He picked it up and pulled out a check. His eyes went wide. “That’s quite the pretty penny.”
“That’s half,” Robin huffed, crossing her arms and throwing herself against the back of the chair. “You’ll get the other half once we leave Europe for Asia.”
“All that for a month’s worth of driving you four around and making sure fans and paparazzi don’t find Eddie here?” Murray asked. “Have you gone crazy?”
Eddie shook his head. “We just want a romantic tour of the spooky places of Europe. I hate the thought Steve getting caught up in something just because I’m recognized everywhere I go and he isn’t.”
Murray licked his lips slowly as his eyes narrowed. “That’s not how that’s usually said.”
Steve frowned and tilted his head to the side. “What do you mean? How is what said?”
Robin put her hand on his elbow as he bristled slightly at his tone.
“Usually people will say ‘famous and they’re not’,” Murray said thoughtfully, “he said ‘recognized’. Meaning Stevie here is famous too, but not in a way people would recognize him on the street. What is a famous painter or some shit?”
She cocked her to the side and said dryly, “If I told you that, I’d have to kill you.”
Murray laughed. Just full on cackled. “Have I mentioned how much I like her? Because I really like her.”
Eddie leaned forward to put his elbows on the table. “So what do you say, Murray?” he asked tilting his head to the side. “You want to work for me again?”
Murray slipped the check into his coat pocket and stuck out his hand. “I think you’ve got yourself a deal.”
~
Their first stop on the Continent was Paris and the catacombs. Eddie was still trying to figure out how Robin did that one. It had been closed to the public for years.
Robin just smirked and said, “Well we aren’t the public.”
Steve was also sure they didn’t open it up to anyone who opened their wallet, either, but wisely stayed silent. Plus he was having fun watching Chrissy and Robin run circles around Murray in terms of sheer knowledge.
“Um...Stevie?” Eddie murmured so the trio couldn’t hear him. “Can I hold your hand? It’s getting a little creepy in here.”
Steve held out his hand, the one that had the little guitar on the inner wrist. Eddie looked down at the offered hand with a fond smile. He took the offered hand and their tattoos matched up. Eddie felt braver with every step knowing that Steve would always be there to hold his hand through the darkness.
Chrissy looked back at them and grinned at their clasped hands. She sped up her walk just a little, forcing Murray and Robin to speed up to match her pace, leaving the two love birds the privacy they so richly deserved.
Once they were out in the sunlight and among the city once again, Eddie refused to let go of Steve’s hand.
Steve looked at their joined hands and then back at Eddie. Eddie gave him his brightest smile and Steve was smitten. Even more so than before. He just loved him so much.
They toured the Paris Opera house and Eddie pulled out a cape and mask.
“Sing for me my angel of music!” he said to Chrissy.
She burst out laughing. “My name may be Christine, but I really don’t think they’d want me shattering the glass.”
Eddie turned to Robin who waved her arms in front of her. “No way! I sing like a frog in heat!”
“No.” Was all Murray said.
Steve raised an eyebrow and Eddie grinned.
“Sing!” Eddie crowed.
Steve took a deep breath and belted out that high note, held it perfectly and then took a bow.
Murray blinked and slow smile spread over his features. “You’re in one of those bands with the masks aren’t you? Like Sleep Token or The Fallen, huh? That’s Eddie here said recognized and not famous. Good on you.”
They all shared looks of concern.
“I’m not going to tell anyone,” Murray huffed, holding up his hands in surrender. “And I’m certainly not even going to try and guess which band it is.” He pulled out his phone and messed around on it for a while.
During which they all watched with ever increasing dread. The silence seemed to stretch out on and on.
Then Chrissy’s phone pinged. Everyone jumped as she scrambled for her phone. She opened it up and blinked a moment.
“You signed a blanket statement NDA?” she asked handing her phone to Robin. “Why?”
Murray licked his lips and crossed his arms over his chest. “Did it suck when Corroded Coffin pulled out of my management causing a shit ton of other people pulling out, too? Sure. But that’s the nature of the business. One that I had been in for over twenty years. I took it as a sign from the universe to retire and enjoy my life. Unlike the CC boys pulling out on Nancy Wheeler because she about to do some pretty shady shit. And I say that having been part of a business that used to be built on shady ass shit.”
Chrissy coughed and looked away to hide her smile.
“I’m guessing Steve’s band is why Corroded Coffin went nuclear on her in the first place?”
Steve looked over at Eddie and then nodded. “She was an ex-girlfriend and she tried to hold that over my head to get me to work with her.”
Murray let out a long and low whistle. “Shady doesn’t even begin to cover that shit. The void would be fucking closer. Shit.”
Robin handed back Chrissy her phone. “How did you get an NDA that fast anyway?”
“Oh that?” Murray asked with a huff of laughter. “I have a bunch of basic contracts and shit in my Google docs. Things can move fast in this business and it’s a good idea to keep a few on hand. Back in the old days we kept them in our briefcases that we carted around. This is sooo much easier.”
“Smart.”
Murray grinned back at her. He turned to Steve. “Come on, show us what that classical vocal training can really do.”
Steve blushed and began warming up his vocals as Robin grinned.
“You may think you’ve heard Steve sing,” she crowed, “but you’ve ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Then Steve really opened up and began to sing. There was a deepness to his voice that didn’t have anything to do with his range. He was clearly a tenor, but the rich quality to his voice just elevated it somehow.
“Rigoletto,” Murray said nodding appreciatively. “Well done.” He clapped slowly, but it wasn’t mocking. “Your parents must have been livid when you didn’t go into opera.”
Steve snorted. “About as angry as when they found out I was bisexual. They know what I am but if I go public with it...”
“They’ll make your life a nightmare?” he asked. Steve nodded. “I feel for you, kid.”
He looked around and grimaced. “I thick it’s time we make like Opera Ghost and scram. That performance of Steve’s here, is getting more attention than I thought it would.”
They looked around and sure enough there were people pointing at Steve.
“I’m not sure what the Venn diagram of opera and metal fans,” Chrissy said, “but I’m betting it’s not two separate circles.”
“Yeaahhh,” Eddie said with a wince.
He grabbed Steve’s hand and they ran for the doors. Murray and the girls hot on their heels.

I’m Not Your Fiancée, Ranma [a ranma saotome with fem!reader mini series] part two
warnings: anime/manga spoilers, slight canon divergence, very mild Akane bashing.
Hey guys and welcome back to the second episode in this mini series! It’s been a wild ride writing for this classic anime, and so far the Netflix remake has delivered in laughs, drama, and slow-burn romantic tension!
Thank you all so much for supporting this content, I honestly wasn’t expecting so much positive feedback from everyone or to have requests to join the taglist! 😊 Shout-out to my dear friend @deathmetalunicorn1 who helped me figure out a unique and fun way to write out this part, a journal entry from the one and only Nabiki Tendo!
So with that being said, sit back, relax, and watch for that bucket of cold water! :3
Who would have thought that Ranma Saotome would actually stand up for himself and spout off a subtle confession of love towards my little sister? Now, my dear Confidante, you may think he finally said it to Akane, and that the constant drama in my house would finally quiet down and there would be some peace, the likes of which hasn't happened since the pigtailed boy and his father came knocking on our door last year. Alas, that is not the case, because Ranma declared in the dojo that he wanted to have my adorable little [First Name] be the person he was engaged to rather than tolerate my sister once more.
Not that I blame him, really.
As much as I love Akane and the huge wade of bills I can bring home from selling photos of her at school, she can be a violent maniac whenever jealousy rears its ugly head and makes a big deal out of everything. Seriously, and I thought she was already a handful with her constant declarations of hating men, though I partially blame Kuno for that one, even if he is one of my best clients. Let me continue before I get off track. As the old saying goes, “time is money.” Naturally, Daddy and Mr. Saotome did not take the proclamation very well. It wasn’t even a minute before they stomped into the dojo and started yelling at him.
“Ranma, how could you?!” Daddy wailed as crocodile tears streamed down his face. “I know you and Akane love each other, that’s why you must go through with this engagement!”
“Boy, do you even know what you know what you are saying?!” Mr. Saotome bellowed. “Akane is your fiancee! It is your duty to marry her and carry on the school!”
Ranma scowled. “Oh, really? Do ya think she can even teach a student without flyin’ off the handle? An’ ya don’t have to be good at martial arts to run this place, anyway!” His hands hung by his sides, clenching and unclenching into tight fists. That’s usually a sign when he’s trying to reign in his own anger. “I told ya before that I didn’t come all the way here just so you can marry me off, but ya didn’t listen! So for once in your miserable old life, let me get a say in who I want to spend the rest of my life with!” He then turned to Daddy. “Mr. Tendo, I don’t love Akane. I mean…I did, or I thought I did, but all she does is get mad at me for things I didn’t do and make me try her cooking! She thinks I’m goin’ behind her back with Ukyo an’ Shampoo when they’re the ones who come onto me! What the heck am I supposed to do in that situation, anyway?!”
You could have just told them off, Ranma. But it’s your vow as a martial artist to never strike a girl. That’s how you’ve always been. As for [First Name]? Well, she was still on the floor, in shock at what she heard for a bit until she stood up and stepped in front of Ranma, shielding him from Daddy as his battle aura oozed into the dojo, changing my sweet dear Daddy into a demon version of himself, large head with a forked tongue and all that jazz.
“Dad, enough.” [First Name] said firmly. “Ranma has done nothing wrong. Ever since he’s been here, you’ve always blamed him for Akane’s unhappiness. I’m not saying he isn’t completely innocent, because sometimes it is his fault. But if what he’s saying is true, then we need to respect his decision. Mr. Saotome, I know you want to keep your promise to your old friend, but this engagement is something he didn’t want. It’s not what Akane wanted either, but everyone pushed them together. You perceived their loud shouting as adorable and believed they were a lovely couple.” [First Name] scoffed. “Don’t make me repeat myself, Father. Back. Off.”
Imagine my surprise when my easygoing little sister exerted her own battle aura into the dojo, something that rarely happens unless she’s extremely angered. I can do it, and so can Kasumi, but it’s like with [First Name]. Only when we’re really furious and that’s fine with me. I’d rather put my energy into making more money. Daddy also found it surprising, as he quickly redirected the conversation back to the problem.
“B-but the schools, sweetie! We must unite the schools before Mr. Saotome and I pass on! You know, the only way to accomplish that is through a betrothal!” I almost gagged at the sound of his whiny voice. Good grief, how pathetic.
“An engagement, not a business negotiation between two old friends?” [First Name] countered. “Where one of us manages the school, and Ranma and some other teachers can coach the students? Have you ever entertained that possibility?”
“Are you questioning our judgement, girl?!” Mr. Saotome snarled.
“I’m questioning your sanity!”
Naturally, I intervened before things got too messy. I told them all to calm down, and offered a solution: it’s obvious that Ranma does not want to get back with Akane, and he has expressed an interest in [First Name]. I had no interest in taking up bridal duties again. I’m pretty sure Kasumi still doesn’t like younger men, and has expressed little interest in dating either, at least that I know of. So, why not switch the engagement from Akane, and have [First Name] be his new fiancee? We’ll see how things go, and no pressuring them to do anything they weren’t ready for unless Daddy and Mr. Saotome want this arrangement to not work out because of their meddling. But my little sister’s earlier proposition wasn’t bad either, if things didn’t work out between Ranma and [First Name]. No one really gets engaged in high school anymore, and there are other ways to manage a martial arts school that didn’t involve marriage. I guess the reason Daddy never considered that idea is that he really wants one of us to marry his best friend’s son and retire. Mr. Saotome probably just wants to live comfortably for the rest of his life, so typical of the lazy panda man.
So, that’s where it stands now. Ranma and [First Name] have been engaged for over a week, and nothing’s really changed between them. Well, it’s more like they are still adjusting to these changes. Ranma is still weary of her, thinking my dear little sister is being nice and then will start acting like Akane as soon as [First Name] sees something she doesn’t like. Tut, tut, silly Ranma. But I’ll let him figure that out on his own, unless he pays the exclusive 10,000 yen consultation fee I offer and give an honest opinion. And [First Name]? Well, she still treats Ranma with respect, helps him with his homework, and doesn’t cling to him like Shampoo or Ukyo. In fact, if she has a club meeting, she insists he go home without her and she’ll be fine walking home at night.
[First Name] is too kind for her own good. Kasumi knows it too. She chided Ranma in the kitchen one evening when he came home without [First Name], saying it’s not a good idea to let a girl walk home by herself even if she says she will be okay. Ranma had the decency to look a little ashamed before shuffling back to the room he shared with Mr. Saotome to apparently get some homework done. Will wonders ever cease to happen in this house, my dear Confidante?
How is Akane taking this change? Not very well. She keeps insisting [First Name] can do better than a pervert, and things will only get worse. I beg to differ.
I already see that things around the house are much calmer. There’s been no fighting, no tables thrown, or Ranma flying across the neighborhood with bumps on his head. He may think we do not notice as soon as dinner is over, but he helps [First Name] with clearing the table or washing the dishes. One morning, I even saw him in the kitchen, getting her lunch out of the fridge and setting it next to her school bag so she didn’t forget it and eat at the cafeteria again. I was sure I wasn’t imagining it, sleep and caffeine deprived.
Everything will be fine. I’m sure of it. I can only hope that Shampoo or the other girls don’t get any funny ideas yet. [First Name] has said nothing about the engagement at school, and Akane just harrumphs and says she’s happy to no longer be engaged to a pervert anymore.
I want to write more, but it seems there’s someone knocking at my door. That’s strange. I wasn’t expecting any clients today. Will be back.
Later -
Unbelievable. Ranma Saotome has just left and made me richer after a lengthy consultation about where he could take [First Name] for their first date this Sunday. Mr. Saotome has been upset that he’s been neglecting [First Name] and somehow misconstrued it as a challenge, both as a martial artist and as a man. Honestly, it amazes me how can these people even be my family. Good luck little sister, you will need it.

HELLO 😍I absolutely love the clown stand post! Can you do the same for Bucciarati gang as well?
I’M SO GLAD YOU LOVED IT! Thank you @stretch-time for the idea <3 Also I sincerely apologize for the extremely late reply, I have been so busy! Requests are currently turned off until I complete the other asks I have in my inbox <3
(Stand side notes: it’s small in size but not as small as the sex pistols, stand abilities: cartoon physics type of stuff, you’ll understand what I mean when you read)
Bucci gang with a goth reader who has a cute clown stand
(La Squadra version here)
Giorno Giovanna
Giorno’s calm, serious demeanor doesn’t waver when he sees your clown stand for the first time. He’s trained himself not to judge a stand by appearances, but even he is taken aback by the sight of a bright, cheerful clown at your side. Giorno quickly assesses the potential of your stand, wondering what abilities could possibly match such a strange look.
He tests it by sending Golden Experience to strike. However, your clown pulls out a massive mirror, reflecting the punch back toward Golden Experience. Giorno’s eyes widen, and he steps back, reassessing his approach. The clown smirks, pulls out an oversized bucket, and dumps a seemingly endless stream of banana peels onto the ground, causing Golden Experience to slip and stumble.
Every time Giorno tries to counter, the clown anticipates it, pulling out ridiculous objects that disrupt his strategy: an anvil to block his punches, a giant mallet to deflect attacks, and even a cartoon bomb that sends Golden Experience flying back when it goes off. Giorno begins to respect your stand’s unique power, realizing that while it looks innocent, it’s a master of psychological warfare—each item it pulls out makes him question what absurd attack might come next. With a small, impressed smile, he finally says, “I underestimated you.”
Bruno Bucciarati
Bucciarati remains polite, even respectful, when he meets you. But his brows raise when he sees your cheerful, colorful clown stand. It doesn’t align at all with your goth aesthetic, which only makes him more curious. “Interesting choice,” he says, in a tone that’s equal parts admiration and confusion.
During your sparring session, Bucciarati sends Sticky Fingers in with a zipper punch, expecting a quick victory. However, your clown smirks, pulling out a giant hand mirror, which Sticky Fingers punches instead, causing the zipper to close around Bruno’s own fist. He watches, surprised, as your clown quickly sets up an obstacle course of oversized props: a giant spinning top that Sticky Fingers has to dodge, a pie that ends up splatting on Bucciarati’s face, and even a door that leads him in circles.
Despite this, Bruno begins to chuckle, realizing your stand’s playful nature is a surprisingly effective strategy. At one point, he zips through the air to get the upper hand, but your clown pulls out a huge net like a cartoon hunter, snaring him mid-zip and dropping him to the ground. Bucciarati finally laughs, wiping pie from his face. “You know, I expected a serious fight, but this is a refreshing change.”
Narancia Ghirga
Narancia takes one look at your clown stand and bursts out laughing, doubling over as he tries to catch his breath. “What is that? It’s adorable!” he snickers, clearly underestimating the threat. But his laughter quickly turns to surprise when your clown pulls out a toy slingshot and launches a rubber chicken at his face. The slap from the chicken’s beak leaves him blinking in shock as he wipes his nose, muttering, “Did that thing just hit me?”
Enraged, he summons Aerosmith, sending it diving toward the clown. But your stand pulls out an enormous balloon, which Aerosmith crashes into, its tiny propeller spinning uselessly against the inflated surface. Narancia’s jaw drops as the clown cheerfully waves at him before producing an enormous spray bottle labeled “Bug Repellent” and dousing Aerosmith with it, sending the miniature plane spiraling out of control.
Frustrated, Narancia shouts, “Alright, now you’ve done it!” But every move he makes is thwarted by the clown, who starts producing absurd obstacles for Aerosmith to dodge: fake trees, tunnels, even cartoonishly large bubbles that trap his stand inside for a few seconds. By the end, Narancia is out of breath and flustered, but even he has to admit, “Okay, that was kinda cool…but you better not tell anyone I said that!”
Leone Abbacchio
Abbacchio’s first reaction to your clown stand is a deadpan stare. He’s entirely unimpressed. “You’re kidding me, right?” he mutters, crossing his arms as he sizes up both you and your stand. He half-heartedly summons Moody Blues, not expecting much from a cutesy clown stand.
But the clown immediately bounces into action, producing a giant pair of glasses and plopping them onto Moody Blues’s face, temporarily blocking its vision. Abbacchio tries to remove them, but the clown has already pulled out an enormous pair of handcuffs and snapped them onto Moody Blues’s wrists, binding it in place. His eyes narrow, annoyed that his stand has been bested by something so ridiculous.
Growing more irritated, Abbacchio commands Moody Blues to break free, but the clown whips out a bucket of quick-drying cement, dumping it over the cuffs. Abbacchio watches, slack-jawed, as Moody Blues struggles, the cement hardening around its wrists, temporarily immobilizing it. When he finally frees his stand, he mutters a string of curses under his breath, annoyed but impressed by your clown’s effectiveness. “I’m not saying I respect it, but…fine. You win this round.”
Guido Mista
Mista laughs heartily the moment he sees your clown stand, nudging his Sex Pistols to join in. “A clown? That’s hilarious!” he says, grinning. But as soon as he gives the order to attack, the clown whips out a toy gun, pointing it at Mista with a mischievous glint in its eye. The Sex Pistols cheer, thinking it’s a joke, until the clown fires rubber bullets at them, each one sending a Pistol ricocheting off in surprise.
Annoyed, Mista sends more bullets your way, only for the clown to deflect each one with oversized comedy props: an umbrella that spins bullets back, a massive rubber glove that bats them away, and even a mirror that sends them flying back toward Mista. “Hey! That’s cheating!” he shouts, but the clown merely shrugs, honking its nose in response.
Frustrated, Mista tries to outsmart the clown, but each time he tries a new strategy, your stand counters with something even more absurd. Finally, the clown pulls out a comically large magnet, attracting all of Mista’s bullets and forcing him to back down. He’s left scratching his head, baffled. “Alright, I admit it. You got me. But that thing is still creepy in a weird way…”
Pannacotta Fugo
Fugo’s analytical mind is immediately confused by your clown stand. “A clown? Is this some kind of joke?” he sneers, his impatience clear as he activates Purple Haze. He expects the battle to be quick, underestimating your stand entirely. But before Purple Haze can make its move, your clown snaps its fingers and produces an oversized gas mask, strapping it onto its face with a smug grin.
Purple Haze’s virus-filled fists swing toward the clown, only to be deflected by an enormous rubber mallet that sends it staggering back. Enraged, Fugo watches as the clown starts hurling ridiculous items at Purple Haze: pies filled with an anti-viral cream, a giant magnifying glass that shrinks Purple Haze’s hand momentarily, and even a huge eraser that somehow removes patches of Purple Haze’s virus fog temporarily.
Fugo’s patience wears thin as he tries to keep up with your clown’s unpredictable tactics. Each time he thinks he’s cornered it, the clown produces another cartoonish item to counter his moves. By the end, Fugo is seething, his face red with frustration. “I don’t understand how that thing works!” he snaps. You simply smirk, watching him struggle to make sense of your clown’s absurd yet effective abilities.

Are you mine? - Chapter eleven: "The pieces this job takes"
Summary: The Reids welcome little Vinny, and Raven will have to deal with being a sister now. The team has to say good bye to a member, and Spencer will just have to deal with changes one more time. Word count: 11.094 Warnings: This is a painful chapter for Spencer. A/N: Sorry I couldn't post last week, I had an accident (don't worry, I'm ok). I love Anderson's moment to shine in this chapter, and I hate putting Spencer through more trauma. Also, I was so sad writing Raven's tantrum... I totally understand her.

(Y/N)’s point of view
Morgan took six months off after what happened to him. He had to recover mentally and physically, which was neither easy nor fast. I know some things happened to him he wasn’t sharing with us, not even with Savannah. He didn’t want to be a burden for her, and that’s a feeling I can absolutely understand.
We saw him a lot though, which was good. We were there for him the day he and Savanna got married in a beautiful ceremony, and he was there for us the day Vincent was born.
Considering the team was down two members, Hotch couldn’t let Spencer stay at Quantico the last couple of weeks before the baby’s due date. Of course, that means I was in the bullpen when my water broke.
Honestly, sometimes I wonder why we didn't leave the FBI sooner. I'm fully aware I keep saying the same the entire time, but it’s shocking how things were a hot mess and we never noticed. Why were we so blind?
I wanted to kill Hotch for forcing Spencer to go with the team to solve a case in Alabama when I was so close to my due date. I understood things were critical without Morgan on the team and with me not being able to fly. But yet, you’d expect some humanity. I guess sometimes work comes first for some people.
My water broke as I walked from Garcia’s office to my desk to pick up some files. I froze on my spot and didn’t know what to do for a few seconds. My mind went blank. That was not supposed to happen like that. Not with Spencer away. And definitely not in the middle of the office.
- “Anderson…”- I looked around me and found him at his desk, typing something.- “Sonny, can you help me?”
- “What happened, Reid?”- ever since I married Spencer, he has loved calling me by my new last name.
- “Uhm… can you come over?”
- “Give me a minute.”- and he kept typing, not even looking at me. I didn’t want to yell I was almost popping a baby right there, but my friend wasn’t giving me another chance.
- “I can’t wait. Please.”
- “Come on, Reid.”
- “Agent Grant Anderson, I need you. Now.”- a few other heads turned as my voice filled the bullpen. Anderson turned to me shocked, but I’m guessing my freaked-out face forced him to bite his tongue at whatever he was going to say and he rushed over to me.
- “What… oh shit.”- he looked at the puddle on the floor between my legs and understood it all in a second.
- “Yes.”- I cut him a short smile and took a deep breath. I had to do my best not to freak out too.
- “What now?”- Anderson whispered, remaining calm.
- “I need you to drive me to the hospital. Garcia is busy helping the team.”
- “Ok, do you wanna call Reid first?”
- “First, I wanna call my doctor. And I need to tell Garcia. Spencer is gonna freak out and there is no need to get him worried when this can still take a few more hours.”- I did my best to remain calm knowing as soon as Spencer knew what was happening, he was ditching the team and taking the first flight back home.
- “Ok, you wanna sit down while I get Garcia?”
- “I don’t wanna get the chair all dirty.”- I argued as Anderson moved a chair closer.
- “Don’t be silly, Reid. Sit down, I’ll bring Garcia and your phone so you can dial your doctor, ok?”- I simply nodded and watched him sprint across the office.
Raven took her sweet time when she was born, but not our Vincent. He was ready to take over the world in no time. Contractions hit me hard and I was worried my husband wasn’t going to make it on time to be with me during labor. Did I tell him? Of course not, I knew he was freaking out and I didn’t want to worry him anymore.
Spencer called me as soon as he could. I didn’t get to him the first time I dialed, so he got the news from Garcia when Anderson was taking me to the hospital.
- “I’m ok, honey. I promise.”- I whispered as soon as I heard his voice on the other side of the line.- “Doctor Feldmann is going to be waiting for me at the hospital, and Frank and Mikey are on their way over.”
- “I’ll ask Morgan to go too.”
- “He has his very own pregnant wife to take care of, hun.”- I reminded him, but I could almost see Spencer’s scowl all the way from Alabama.
- “I can’t believe I am not there with you.”
- “It might take a few more hours, so you’ll be ok. We’ll wait for you to start the fun part.”- I joked knowing there was no way I could predict that, but I needed to give Spencer some peace of mind.
- “I’ll be there as soon as I can. I’ll call you when my flight arrives.”- I heard Spencer sigh at the other side of the line and my chest tightened knowing how bad he felt being away from me at that minute.
- “I love you so much honey bunny. Be safe, ok?”
- “I’m so sorry, chipmunk. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
- “I know. Please, take care.”
- “Ok, nugget. Your mom is on her way with Raven, I got you ice, and some marshmallows in case your sugar drops. I think we are covered. Do you have to start pushing already? Shit, I’m not ready for that. Please don’t start pushing yet.”- Frank rushed into my room, nearly hyperventilating. He paced across the room, clearly freaking out, as I stared at him, and the nurse raised an eyebrow.
- “Is he the dad?”
- “Nope-” I replied chuckling- “He is not even the godfather. Just my best friend.”
- “Basically I’m like a brother to you.”- Frank replied right away, and pretended to be shocked - “And I am not Vinny’s godfather? Are you serious? What are you talking about? I feel betrayed.”
- “I told you, it’s gonna be Mikey. You are Raven’s godfather. You can’t have all the kids.”
- “We are not having this conversation right now. You are clearly sedated.”- I chuckled and stared at my friend, who crossed his arms on his chest and looked at me from the end of my bed.
- “You do realize I haven’t gotten anything yet. I am not even…”- but a contraction stopped my words and ended that silly argument. Frank moved quickly to my side and held my hand tight. He didn’t even say a word, he just stared at me, obviously concerned, and waited until the pain had passed.
- “I’m so not having kids.”- he whispered after a few seconds, making me chuckle.
- “That’s ok, just can you check my vagina and see if I’m dilated already?”- I joked and saw the color leaving his face.- “I’m joking! Go out and wait for my mom. I’ll be fine.”
- “No way. I am not leaving you alone. I’m not getting anywhere near your vagina, but I am not leaving you alone until Spencer is here.”
And he didn’t leave. Frank stayed in my room until my husband got there, five hours later. Morgan, Mikey, and my mom kept me company too. They took Raven to get ice cream from the cafeteria and honestly helped me stay sane. Savannah, who was four months pregnant by then, and still dealing with all the nausea and morning sickness, helped keep me sane during the entire time. She was not only my friend, but also a doctor, and that always helped during delivery.
I will always be grateful for the family of friends we’ve created along the way.
Spencer’s point of view
It was a mess, nothing went as planned. I was in Alabama with the team and took the first flight back home. Garcia called me, nearly crying ‘cos she couldn’t go with my wife to the hospital, she had to work the case along with the team. I froze in place for a few seconds, not knowing what to do first.
- “Anderson is gonna drive her to the hospital. I'll be with her as soon as I can.”
- “I’m on my way.”- that was all I could say before I hung up and turned to Hotch.- “I have to leave. Now.”
Morgan, Frank, and Mikey had to take my place in the hospital while I was away. I nearly got into the pilot’s cabin and yelled at him to take us home faster if possible. Those were the longest four hours of my life, it was torture. I thought I was going to go crazy sitting there thinking my wife was alone in a hospital delivering our baby, and all because work forced me to be out of town.
When I finally got to the hospital, I rushed in flashing my FBI badge to everyone and anyone who could even think of trying to stop me. Am I proud of that? No. Do I regret it? Hell no! I just wanted to be with my wife as soon as possible, no matter what.
- “Reid!”- I heard Morgan’s voice as I rushed down the hall, trying to find the right room. He was with Savannah, Mikey, and Raven.
- “Dada!”- she escaped Mikey’s arms and ran to me. I squatted and opened my arms to hold her. - “Mommy said bad words.”
I chuckled at her comment and kissed her forehead as I stood up and walked toward our friends, who stood up as soon as they saw me.
- “I think today we can spare her a few bad words.”- I whispered into my daughter’s ear and heard her giggle.- “Guys, thank you for being here.”
- “Nothing to thank us for”- Morgan replied immediately- “You should put an eye on your pretty girl. She looked like she was about to pop your kid five minutes ago.”- I widened my eyes, gave Raven to Mikey, and ran to the room.
(Y/N)was squatting on a ball, holding her mother’s hand as Frank kneeled beside her, talking nonstop and looking honestly confused.
- “Oh thank god.”- he mouthered the second he saw me. I rushed in and held my wife tight. She grunted and shook in my arms. That’s when I realized how late I was.
- “I’m here, ma cherie. I’m here.”
- “I know. Vincent is almost here too.”- she whispered and didn’t let go. For a few minutes, it was just us holding each other. I wanted to ask her to forgive me for being so late, but words didn’t leave my lips. Instead, I just kept her close to me for a little longer.
- “I’m gonna get the nurse.”- Sofia said, probably to give us some privacy.
- “And I'm gonna leave this room before our friendship is forever scarred with gore scenes I will never be able to forget.”- Frank added and walked to the door.- “I’ll be out with the guys and my goddaughter.”
- “Thank you.”- that’s all I managed to say, but I’ve always been sure he understood the depth of my words. For a few minutes, it was just us. (Y/N)asked me to help her move to the bed, and I wrapped my arms around her to help her support the weight of her belly.
- “Did you tell Hotch I hate him for keeping you away?”- she muttered in the middle of what was clearly a very painful contraction.
- “Yes, I did.”
I did not. It wasn’t necessary, (Y/N)had made it clear before we left for the case that she was never going to forgive Hotch if the baby was born while I was out of town. The entire team knew it, my wife hadn’t been subtle at all. She stood next to the elevator's door before we left for the case, looked him in the eyes, and said: “If the baby is here and Spencer is still away, I won’t be back for work, ever again.”
- “Good.”- she whispered as I helped her sitting on the hospital bed.- “Honey Bunny, I think I’m ready to push.”
- “Wait just a few more minutes. Your mom is coming with the doctor.”
- “Shit, fuck, for Christ's sake! What shitted mother fucker thought this fuckery was in fact fair for women??!- my wife shouted every curse with such profound heart and pain, it was clear she needed more medication. Who knew when she had gotten her epidural.
- “You know, the first thing Raven told me when I got here was how you had said many bad words today.”- I whispered in her ear as I kept rubbing her back, trying to help her through the pain.
- “I fucking told Mikey to take her out, I didn’t want her to be traumatized and watch me losing it in pain.”- (Y/N)seemed mortified.
- “It’s ok, I told her you were allowed to curse a little today.”- Sofia and a nurse walked into the room, and a doctor followed them a few seconds after.
- “Ok Mrs. Reid, your baby boy seems to be ready.”- doctor Feldmann announced as he sat at the end of the bed and checked on my wife.
- “He feels ready as well.”- she mumbled, doing her best to be strong. I just scooped a little closer and held her a little tighter. I’ve never known what to do during delivery but praying and holding her hand tight. Being next to her while she delivers our babies is magical and agonizing at the same time. I will never love the process, not if I know she is going through an excruciating pain and there is nothing I can do to stop it.
It only took thirty minutes and Vincent Spencer Reid was there with us. His soft cries filled the room and my heart stopped. He was so small, so innocent, so vulnerable. Dr Feldmann placed him on (Y/N)’s chest and she caressed his back carefully, as the two of us stared at him with a loving smile on our lips.
- “Hello baby boy.”- she whispered and her voice shook as tears fell from her eyes.- “Aren’t you a pretty boy. My pretty boy.”
- “Hey there, Vincent. I’m your dad. Hello.”- I ran my fingers down his tiny arm and smiled at him.- “I hope you like baseball ‘cos it’s the only sport I’ve managed to learn so far.”
- “Maybe he’ll teach you, look at those hands, they are so big.”- (Y/N)whispered and touched his fist with her index - “Looks like the hand of a basketball player.”
- “Or maybe he’ll be an artist.”- I suggested and (Y/N)looked at me with a bigger smile.
- “I would love that.”- I stared into her eyes and caressed her cheek a few times, then ran my fingers up to her temples, and wiped a little of her sweat off before kissing her.
- “You did you good, ma cheriè. I’m so proud of you.”
- “I’m glad it went well and that he is here. Wanna go tell the rest?”
- “Not yet.”- I whispered and touched Vinny’s back one more time, enjoying the feeling of having my son there with me for the very first time - “Give me another minute of this.”
- “All the time you want.”- my wife answered and chuckled- “We have a son.”
- “We have a son.”- I smiled at those words and tears blurred my vision for a moment. I had a son, and he was perfect. Life was perfect.
Mikey stood up the second he saw me and his smile mimicked mine as I announced Vinny was there and that everything had gone well. He, Frank, and Morgan hugged me, tapping on my back, and congratulating me. Well, us. I smiled at them as I turned to Raven and opened my arms for her. She was cuddled in Sofia's arms and hesitated for a few seconds before moving toward me.
- “Come on birdy. Do you wanna see mommy and meet your brother?”- Sofia kissed her cheek and encouraged her to go with me, but she still wasn’t sure. I held her and kissed her cheek a few times before announcing.
- “(Y/N)said you guys can come in and say hi after Raven meets her brother. He really wanted to hang out with her first.”
- “Of course man.”- Morgan replied.- “Your baby boy has to meet his big sister first.”
- “I’m not big.”- Raven whispered.- “I’m a baby too.”
I should have seen that reaction coming, honestly. Raven hadn’t been excited during the first few months of (Y/N)’s pregnancy. She actually threw a massive tantrum the day we explained to her what was happening. It hadn’t been easy and Frank stepped up as her godfather and helped her see the benefits of having a little brother. However, we knew Raven would get jealous no matter how. And it was our job to show her nothing was going to change.
- “Baby girl, are you ready?”- I whispered as I held my daughter in my arms and started walking to the room. Raven hid her face on my shoulder and wrapped her arms around me very tight. I could almost feel her little heart beating hard inside her chest. It was a big day for her. The same as it was for us.
- “Hey birdy!”- (Y/N)whispered from her bed, where she sat, nursing Vincent.- “Vinny was just asking for you.”
Raven’s curiosity was bigger than her fear, clearly, ‘cos she slowly moved her face from my neck and turned to look at her brother.
- “Look, that’s your brother, Vincent.”- I sat next to (Y/N)and Raven moved in my arms, trying to get the closest look she could to her brother. She was silent judging the baby. I kept my eyes on her as she raised her little hand and carefully pressed a finger on his cheek.
- “He is so Squishy!”- Raven whispered and giggled.- “Vinny is squishy!!”
- “Yes, he is. And he is very tiny, are you gonna help us teach him all the fun things we do?”- my wife held Raven’s small hand and placed a kiss on it, making our daughter giggle one more time- “Like singing and playing and having tea parties?”
- “Can he wear a tiara?”- I tried not to chuckle at her question ‘cos she was incredibly serious about it.
- “If he wants to, of course.”
- “Don’t worry Birdy. We are still going out every Saturday morning on our dad and daughter dates.”
- “Just us?”- Raven looked at me and her little eyes shone with excitement.
- “Just us.”- I murmured and kissed the top of her head.
- “Do you wanna hold him?”- (Y/N)asked and Raven couldn’t believe it.
- “Yes Mommy!! Please!!”
- “Ok, sit here next to me.”- and as our daughter followed all the instructions my wife gave her and I placed a pillow on her small lap, I stared at the scene unraveling in front of me as I did my best not to cry, but tears kept filling my eyes. My daughter was now a big sister and was holding her little brother in her arms. I chuckled and locked eyes with (Y/N)for a moment. And as we smiled at each other, all I could think of was: I have two kids. Everything I do, I do it for my wife and our two kids.
You don’t know how that thought can change a person. The way it made me feel so much stronger and weaker at the same time. I would do anything for my family. I would fight the world to keep them safe. And at the same time, it petrified me knowing I was now living with my heart outside my chest. They were all I had, all I loved. My entire life.
I never thought I’d have a conversation about this a few months later, with Morgan, right after he came back to the team. We first had a surprise baby shower for him and Savannah in the meeting room. She was nearly on her due date and Morgan was clearly freaking out about becoming a dad, so we tried to help him relax a little and share a nice moment before a big case. (Y/N)was already back working, so she organized everything with Garcia and Savannah. Raven was in Playground and Sofia took care of Vincent while we worked, and though life was crazy, you could say we were managing.
We had a case that very same day that took us to Witchita, a double homicide and a child abduction. It hit differently when they were kids involved. To all of us now, but I’m guessing Morgan wasn’t ready to be back on the field and dealing with something like that.
We were in the police office, just us, going over some information while the rest of the team gathered a few things. I was going over some info, and Morgan seemed lost, sitting there, his mind and thoughts just weren’t in the room with us.
- “The glue our unsub used is sold practically everywhere, so we can't isolate the point of purchase.”- I pointed out as I read one of the files we had.- “A mineral analysis from the sand, however, indicates that it came from the Seneca River in upstate New York.”
Morgan didn’t reply. I doubt he even heard me. I kept my eyes on him as I straightened up and walked a little closer to him.
- “You ok?”
- “Yeah.”- he replied, but his eyes were so sad and concerned it was clear he was not, in fact, ok.
- “Morgan, we're gonna find the people who tried to kill you.”- I said as I sat on a chair in front of him, trying to reassure him that things were going to be ok. But that was not what clouded his mind, not that minute at least.
- “He was in his pajamas.”- he mumbled, staring at a point on the wall. He must have felt I wasn’t getting where he was going, ‘cos he quickly added. - “Ronnie Brewer. Out there by the side of the road, he was still in his pajamas.”
I looked at my hands and took a deep breath. That was a fact I knew, but I was trying my best not to overanalyze it. Not to imagine my kids in his place either. Not to lose it in the middle of an investigation. It’s hard to keep your head cold. You might think it gets easier with the years, but no. It only gets worse. The more you get involved in the cases, the more parts of you you give.
- “I'm sorry, kid.”- Morgan tried to justify his behavior.- “I, uh, I don't know, man. Six months on the sidelines. I guess I still have a few blisters where I used to have calluses.”
- “I don't think that's what this is.”- I say looking straight at his face with a short smile.
- “Oh, no?”- I shook my head when he stared at me confused - “Then what is it?”
- “You're about to be a dad. You know? You have to expect the world to start to feel different.
- “Did it happen to you?”
- “Of course. And it’s terrifying!”- I confessed and tried to be as honest as possible, ‘cos maybe that would help him relax a little. He sighed and held his head with one head for a minute, trying to focus and rearrange his thoughts.
- “It just feels so hard. Not as in difficult. Literally hard.”- Morgan started explaining how he felt. And it was something that I could definitely understand. - “Like asphalt is hard. Like pavement.”
- “And children are soft.”- I added, and the thought of Raven touching Vincent’s cheek saying how “squishy” he was filled my mind and my heart with love and fear. These two feelings that, apparently by rule, always came together in my life.
- “Yeah. Defenseless.”- Morgan added, mumbling under breath.
- “That's why every day we try to make this world a little safer.”- I said and tried to smile at him, though the frown on his face didn’t move.
- “How do you do it? You have two, you’ve seen the worst people can do.”
- “We are making a change, one day at a time. I will never look at the world the way I did before I was a father. But it helps knowing there are people like us, catching bad guys. I guess focusing on the good instead of the horror is what keeps me going.”
Morgan stared at me in silence, like analyzing everything I had just said. For the first time in my life, I felt like he was the one who needed my help. I was usually the one lost in a world with too many messages I couldn’t understand. And Morgan was the one helping me decoding them and teasing me about it.
But not this time.
- “If there's one thing I'm sure of, is that you and Savannah are going to be great parents.”- I added and smiled at him. Morgan chuckled and realized the position we were at. Me, giving him advice for once.
- “Charge by the hour, Doc?
- “Yeah, but you need to book your appointment at least two days ahead.”- I teased and my friend finally laughed. For the first time in what seemed to be years.
(Y/N)’s point of view
I tried to be rational. I swear. But after baby number two and going back to work, I hated how everything had changed. I could feel it around me, and I know Spencer felt it too, though I’m not sure if he felt it at the same level I did.
It was clear Morgan was leaving. I could feel it in my guts the second he walked back to the bullpen after those six months away, and I tried to prepare my husband for it. Change is part of life, that I can not change (see what I did there?). But that doesn’t mean we are always gonna love each one of the changes of ties that life sends our way. Derek had the right to start a new life, and the time felt right. It made me wonder, yet again, if leaving the BAU was the right path to follow. But at that time, it didn’t make as much sense as it does now. I guess I wasn’t ready to deal with everything that would unravel with time.
One of those things was so embarrassing I kept pushing it aside and failed. But it was so incredibly embarrassing, that I couldn’t tell anyone but Lu.
I was jealous. Seriously jealous. Of JJ.
At that time it was mainly because my stomach kept telling me there was something odd about how sometimes, especially during cases. She acted somehow territorial about Spencer. Like he was hers. That made no sense, obviously. He was my husband and only her friend. I wasn’t proud of how I felt, but a voice deep inside of me kept warning me about her attitude.
But instead of listening to my instinct, I tried to bury it. I excused my own brain, telling myself it was all because I had just had a baby and I was feeling insecure. Which was probably true, in part. But there was something about how JJ always found an excuse to be close to my husband that bothered me the second I came back to work after my maternity leave.
It didn’t really help that we were under similar conditions. Both had two kids and husbands on the field. A very demanding job, eyes for Spencer the entire time he was around. And it felt like she had her shit together, not like me, who struggled every day. Not JJ. She was fucking perfect. From her hair to her attitude and her outfits. There was no way she was a mother of two, her body was, for lack of a better word, perfect. I was filled with stretch marks underneath my clothes, making me feel incredibly self-conscious. I knew it was normal, I had two babies, my body was going to change, and Spencer seemed to be ok with that. But it felt unfair. JJ looked the same. I looked like a mom. I hated it.
- “You do realize you are being incredibly hormonal about this. Right?”- Lu suggested one afternoon when I managed to call her in between kids, cases, and house chores. Spencer had taken Raven to the store to get some things I needed to cook dinner, and Vinny was napping. So I called my friend as I started catching up with laundry.
- “Define being hormonal, please.”
- “You are not being rational, and you always keep your head cold, and this is so not you. Who cares about JJ? Spencer loves you!”
- “I know, but… she is so much better than me in every single fucking way. It’s annoying.”
- “That’s all in your head!”- I could basically hear my friend’s grin through the line. - “All this ‘cos you are no longer a size… what’s your size again?”
- “No! all this ‘cos I feel like a big fucking failure!”
- “How are you even failing? You do more in a day than Frankie does in a year.”- I tried not to chuckle at the comparison because I was trying to show her how upset I was.
- “I mean it, Lu! I know this is not a competition, but what if Spencer realizes I am a shitty wife, a lousy mother, and a sickening sight when naked.”
- “Aren’t you being silly? That man has loved you since before he could even start talking to you or even looking you in the eye. So stop it.”
- “He loved her first”
- “He had a silly crush on her before he met you. That’s it. You’ve always felt threatened by her. It’s not just now. And that’s because you can not believe something this good could happen to you. But it did, so be grateful and enjoy it.”- Lu gave a very compelling speech, I gotta admit. But one thing kept bothering me.
- “What if she is in fact in love with him and tries to do something?”
- “Then she is the most stupid FBI agent I’ve ever met.”
I remember chuckling at her response, thinking if JJ ever tried to make her move on my husband, not only I was going to go absolutely unsub with her, but probably Lu, my mom, and even Frank and Mikey could definitely bring her down.
But, much as I tried, things had changed. I could feel it. It was obvious even when nothing was happening at the bullpen. And it was clear the second Morgan came back to work. He wasn’t the same man that had left six months earlier. None of us were anymore.
The last case we worked with Morgan was the worst we had had since he had been kidnapped.
Savannah got shot. That day we were about to leave the bullpen when Garcia got the call. Spencer was talking with JJ as I grabbed all my things, already late to Raven’s school spring recital. Our daughter was so excited about the recital, her class was going to sing a song and she had practiced for weeks. She was confident she was good at it, and all she could talk about was how much she wanted to show her dad how well she and her friend were going to sing. It broke my heart to miss that show. I know it broke Spencer’s as well.
Pen rushed over, tears already falling down her cheeks, as she explained what had just happened. Morgan was at the hospital with Savannah. They were trying to save her and their baby. Things didn’t look good. In a second we were running to the elevator and Hotch drove us to the crime scene.
You don’t know how hard it is to call it a “crime scene” when it’s the place your friend was hurt. Hotch tried to keep Derek out of the investigation for obvious reasons, Morgan wasn’t in his right mind. None of us were, to be honest. But I knew keeping him out of the investigation was basically impossible. So I entered mode S.A.A Reid, and hid all my fears and worries, even my daughter’s deception (I knew I was going to deal with that later). I needed to help our friends.
I called my mom from the car. I tried to explain what had just happened and why we couldn’t be there with our daughter. We jumped out of the SUV as soon as we got there, Morgan was trying to cross the police line, looking like a madman. I heard him yelling “That’s my team” before JJ walked over and explained to the police he was in fact an FBI agent and not a psycho. I couldn’t blame him, I would look the same if my family had been hurt. I know I did when it happened. You see red when they hurt someone you love.
- “Tell me you got something.”- Morgan demanded, fire in his eyes as he spoke to us.
- “A casing and a rifle up on the roof.”- Rossi explained in a single line everything we knew.
- “This guy isn't sloppy. He's sending us a message.”- JJ added, but really didn’t say anything new. I turned to Morgan and held his hand for a moment, giving it a small squeeze, trying to comfort him. He was hot, and anger was running through his body as adrenaline kept him going.
- “Garcia, we need to access the surveillance footage.”- Hotch said and Pen nodded immediately.
- “Of course. I'm on it.”- and off she went.
- “What else we got?”- Morgan asked, and none of us said a thing. ‘Cause of course, after fifteen minutes, we didn’t have much to add.
- “That's it right now.”- Rossi sighed and shook his head
- “Where were you and Savannah standing?”- Spencer asked, first ‘cause Morgan was the only witness we had, and even under the stressful conditions he was under, he had to tell us what he saw. And second, ‘cos we had to keep him busy or that man was going to go crazy.
- “We were standing right over there on the side of my truck. We were just talking. She was to the back and I was facing her. I was the vulnerable one. I was the easy shot.”- Morgan finished that sentence screaming.
- “How's Savannah?”- I whispered, trying to calm him down.
- “She's in surgery.”- our friend’s voice was cracking, just like his strength. I grabbed his arms and pushed him with me to start walking.
- “Come on, let's check in. Rossi, are you coming?”- David nodded and started walking along with us.
- “You guys got this?”- Morgan asked and looked at the team. Spencer nodded and looked at me for a moment. He confessed sometime later that all he could think of that minute was that if that was me in the hospital, shot, he’d kill whoever was responsible for hurting me. I never forgot it 'cause I kept thinking the same thing.
We checked in at the hospital, where Rossi did most of the talking, and then we sat in a waiting room on the second floor.
- “Metro PD's gonna secure all the windows and have an officer placed in front of Savannah's room 24/7.”- David explained as Morgan walked and nodded, like a zombie.
- “Thanks.”- he mumbled though I know he didn’t process what Rossi had just said.
- “I got us a conference room down the hall to work in, and I'm getting access to the security cams right now.”- Penelope announced as she walked into the room, nearly hyperventilating.
- “Great. You two need coffee?”- Rossi offered
- “I’m good.”- Garcia replied immediately
- “No. Thanks.”- Morgan nearly bit Rossi’s head off as he replied. I couldn’t blame him, though, he was under stress, and he was going to be a nasty asshole until he knew Savannah was safe. Rossi looked at me and asked.
- “No cream, no sugar?”
- “Thank you.”- I whispered and cut him a short smile as he walked out of the waiting room.
- “Tara's donating blood in case Savannah needs more. It turns out they're the same type.”- Pen added as Morgan continued pacing across the room.
- “I’m a universal donor. I’m gonna sign up to donate for her as well.”- I said and turned around to leave. I knew Morgan well enough to leave him be for a moment. Now that he was in the waiting room, pacing and with Garcia, I could be useful somewhere else.
I was still signing papers when I heard Morgan storm out of the waiting room, smashing a pile of paper towels in a cart he found on his way down the hall. The nurses winced and I sighed as I grabbed my phone and read my husband’s text. Hotch had taken Morgan officially off the case.
- “Is he ok?”- Spencer texted me.
- “Nope. Stormed out. I’m donating blood for Savannah.”- I quickly replied. A nurse asked me to follow her to another room and got me ready to
- “Looking at the footage with JJ in the conference room.”- my stomach tightened at the thought of him and JJ being alone. But we were at work, and doing something incredibly important and personal. There was no time for jealousy.
- “I’ll be there in a second.”- I replied and put my phone back into my pocket. The nurse asked me to raise my sleeve, and for a couple of minutes, all I could do was pray for Savannah’s health.
- “So if security footage has no angles of the shooting or the rooftop, where does that leave us?”- Rossi asked as we all stood around the table, trying to find something new to call a clue that might lead us to the shooter.
- “We're running facial recognition on everyone in and around the hospital to see if they match any loose ends from Morgan's abduction.”- JJ announced as I sipped on my coffee. Hotch walked into the room that second. It had taken him an extra fifteen minutes to get there after I was done donating blood, which only meant one thing: whatever Morgan had said to him, got to him.
- “How did he take it?”- Spencer asked what we all knew had happened. Hotch’d face didn’t move when he simply replied
- “As expected.”- and that was all we talked about our friend’s emotional tantrum.
- “Sir, I know that when Morgan was on leave after his abduction, you encouraged him to stay away from the case.”- Garcia started explaining what we had all done behind Hotch and Rossi’s back.
- “And let me guess, he didn't.”- David interrupted her, and we all shook our heads.
- “We all knew in our hearts it wasn't over, and, look, we were right, so in an extra-curricular kind of way we kept sleuthing to see who was working with John Bradley.”- Garcia explained and I looked at Rossi with a shy and almost innocent smile.
- “Everyone needs a hobby, right?”
- “You of all people here have enough going on in her end to add more to her table.”- Rossi argued and Spencer frowned.
- “I helped her.”
- “Getting her pregnant again isn’t helping.”- David joked, and Hotch ignored us as he started talking.
- “Before he came back to work, Morgan said that he'd found a connection between the men who held him at the cabin and the Montolo family.”- Hotch added, looking at Rossi, who seemed lost. Like he never saw coming the fact none of us was going to let Morgan’s kidnap go.
- “Right. So, basically, we're dealing with a big crime family tree, of which Bradley was certainly a branch. And the Montolos had hired him multiple times.”- Garcia added, simply explaining we were obsessed with his case.
- “Did you scan the drawing?”- I asked her and she nodded.
- “Yeah, it's right here.”- at those words, Spencer leaned closer to look at the screen with me.
- “So, has everyone been working on this?”- Rossie asked, surprised.
- “Yeah.”- I said not taking my eyes from the screen.
- “Basically.”- my husband supported me.
- “Kinda.”- Pen added with a shy/busted smile and then she started explaining what we had. - “Ok, with Morgan's research, plus our bad guys/gals tree here, we've cut all the legs off the evil table. So like look… you got assassin mother, father, siblings, all deceased, one aunt in therapy for family trauma, and each line is like that.”
- “Montolo's line's the shortest of them all.”- Spencer pointed out - “The only living child of Chazz and Rosemary Montolo. Rosemary died when Giuseppe was just a boy.”
- “When you thought your family was fucked up…”- I shook my head at my own words, trying to ease the mood ‘cos for the life of me, I can’t deal with so much gravity from time to time.
- “Right. And then Giuseppe went to live with his family in Italy, and Chazz went off to build a criminal empire.”- Pen added. Rossi walked to me and grabbed one of the files.
- “Looks like Chazz Montolo was killed last year.”
- “Yeah, in a bank fire in Germany. Got a positive I.D. On the dental and fingerprints.”- Pen even showed him the newspaper of the fire.
- “One week after his son was murdered. What if that's not a coincidence?”
- “So whoever poisoned the son also killed the father.”- JJ suggested, but I shook my head, reading Hotch’s mind.
- “Or he staged his own death so we wouldn't suspect him of this.”- I said and felt Spencer’s hand resting on my lower back as I spoke, supporting and comforting me.
- “Hey, wait, wait, wait.”- Pen suddenly freaked out and started typing as fast as she could- “I only ran facial recognition on living people for obvious reasons, but this guy right here, walking out of the hospital, this guy, that is… That's Chazz Montolo.”
- “Well done, ma cherie.”- Spencer whispered in my ear and I turned to smile at him for a fraction of a second. We were finally going somewhere.
- “Garcia, play the footage.”- Hotch asked, and a few seconds later, we were all able to watch Montolo senior walking out of the hospital.
- “Mother fucker.”- I whispered thinking that asshole had been there with us in the building.
- “Garcia, contact the city, get access to traffic cameras. Now that we know he's here, we can find out where he went.”- but her phone ringing freaked her out before she could do anything.
- “Oh, wait, Morgan's calling me. I told him I'd keep him in the know before I knew it was an order that he wasn't supposed to know.”
- “All right.”- Hotch sighed and looked at me and my husband. - “Reids, you talk to Morgan. JJ, you and Garcia track Montolo and find out who his accomplices are. He doesn't work alone. Dave, you and I will find potential witnesses who might have seen him on the property.”
And before we could even argue or plan what we were going to tell our friend, we were forced to move and face him.
- “Wait, wait.”- I grab my husband’s sleeve and stop him- “We should get him something.”
- “I don’t think he is hungry.”- Spencer raised an eyebrow as he stared at me.
- “Still. Maybe something to drink to warm him.”
- “You wanna stress him more by adding caffeine to his body?”- he questioned me.
- “Hot chocolate?”
- “He will throw it on our faces.”- Spencer was probably right, but he could read my worry.- “Green tea?”- I nodded and walked to the closest vending machine.
- “Raven must be so angry with us.”- I whispered as I pushed a few buttons on the machine, and a cup with some suspicious-looking tea appeared in front of our eyes.
- “I know.”
- “We are gonna have to deal with her when we get home.”
- “I know…”- Spencer sighed and rubbed his hands against his face, trying to rearrange his thoughts. - "I really can’t deal with that right now.”
- “I know, I’m sorry. I just can’t stop thinking about her and Vinny, and if any of this happened to them, or you.”
- “I understand, ma cherie. So much.”- Spencer moved a step closer and kissed the top of my head.- “But right now we have to focus on helping Morgan. Ok’”- I just nodded and grabbed the cup of tea.
- “Ok.”- I looked at my husband and took a deep breath. I know he was doing his best to keep his head cold and focus on the case- “Alright, let’s do this.”
Morgan was back in the waiting room. He kept pacing, still looking like a madman. But now he was an angry madman. Angry with us ‘cos he knew we were keeping things from him.
- “Were you with Garcia?”- he asked as soon as we walked in.
- “Yeah.”- I replied and tried to smile at him, to maybe calm him down, or make him feel less threatened- “Here, we brought you a green tea.”
- “It won't make you as jittery as coffee.”- Spencer offered the cup to our friend and he grabbed it, but not without reading every single movement the two of us made. It was annoying, Frank was right.
- “You came instead of Garcia because you know I'd be able to read her.”- Morgan didn’t ask, it was a fact.
- “That is correct.”- Spencer nodded and whispered.
- “And Hotch sent you both here to see if I'm stable.”
- “He didn't say that, but…”- my husband made a pause and I just sighed.
- “Let’s say we were the chosen ones ‘cos Hotch trusted we could read you, and if you were too angry at him, we wouldn’t take it personally in case you’d yell.”- I couldn’t lie to Morgan, so I didn’t. He nodded and didn’t even try to say he wouldn’t yell. It felt good to know we were above that bullshit.
- “I don't get jittery.”- of everything we said, that was what Morgan wanted to point out. Why? I don’t know. Maybe that was an insult in his mind. He moved to the other corner of the room and left the tea on a little table Food, he wasn’t going to throw it in our faces.
- “Usually you don't, but your carotid tells a different story.”- Spencer started rambling- “I've counted 10 heartbeats in the last 3 seconds. That's about 20% higher than your usual when you're under stress.”- his voice was soft and almost shaky. My husband was nervous and worried. Scared.
- “I know you're only trying to protect me, I get it, but knock it off.”- Morgan nearly yelled, annoyed with his speech- “I just want to know what you've learned.”
- “Seriously, Derek. You know we can’t tell you.”- I sighed and shook my head.- “So don’t take it with us. We are just trying to help.”
- “If you were trying to help you’d tell me what the hell is going on”
- “We are doing our fucking best. That’s what’s going on.”
I know we didn’t plan it, but Spencer and I were doing the old “good cop, bad cop routine.” And I was the bad cop. Again.
- “When you first told me about Savannah, I'd never seen you like that.”- my husband started talking and his voice was still soft and sweet, trying to keep it together. - “The decreased levels of central serotonin in your brain cause intrusive thinking. When I finally saw you guys together, that's when I knew for sure. Your pupils dilated, your posture changed, and I saw you involuntarily reach for her hand. Science confirmed it. You've found the one.”- Morgan stared at him, speechless. - “Do you believe that?”
- “Yes.”- Derek replied, not an inch of hesitation in his voice.
- “Then believe this. Our team loves you, and we are not going to stop until we find whoever did this. But we can only do that with a completely dispassionate and unprejudiced point of view. Paternal instinct is a deadly bias that we just can't risk. It's for your protection, Morgan, I swear.”
- “Ok.” - Derek answered coldly, though you could almost hear the cogs in his brain going a hundred miles an hour.
- “You would do it for us, wouldn’t you?”- I asked him, and Morgan raised both eyebrows- “If we were you and you were us, you would try to keep us away from the information. Try to keep us calm. We did it with Kate when her niece was taken. Hotch and JJ did it for us when he pretended Em was dead. We did it for Garcia when the Dirty Dozen was trying to kill her. We’ve all done it. ‘Cos that’s what families do, they protect each other.”
- “The unsub is a father, isn't he?”- Morgan ignored my speech and looked right into Spencer’s eyes.
- “Why do you say that?”- my husband lied between his teeth as Morgan analyzed every single one of our movements.
- “A paternal instinct is a deadly bias? Those were your exact words.”
- “I meant… we are both fathers…”- Spencer was nearly sweating and I didn’t know how to help him.
- “I know what you meant. But that's what you said.”- Morgan stared at us, and neither of us said another word. So he simply walked away from us.
- “Shit, shit, shit.”- Spencer whispered and closed his eyes.
- “It’s ok, honey. We both knew it wasn’t going to be easy. And we would be the same under these sick circumstances.”
- “I know, I just…”- Spencer bit his lips as tears filled his eyes.- “I wish there was more we could do. He doesn’t deserve this.”
- “Who does?”- I held his hand and gave it a soft squeeze.- “You did well. It’s just hard keeping things from a profiler.”
- “He is my brother. And someone hurt his unborn child and wife. And all I can do is tell him things will be ok.”
- “We can help him, but he has to trust us.”- my phone ended our conversation. It was my mom, which only meant one thing: Raven’s presentation was over. And she knew we weren’t there.
- “Hello?”- I whispered and closed my eyes.
- “Mama…”- it was worse than my mom. It was Raven.
- “Hey there, birdy. How was the recital? Did you have fun?”- Spencer moved closer and I put our daughter on speaker. - “I’m with your dad at work. We are both so sorry we couldn’t be there today, Raven.”
- “Emma says I don’t have a mom or a dad.”- Raven was crying, and my heart broke as soon as I heard her.
- “What? Why?”- I knew Emma, she was three and a half years old, but that night, I wanted to kill that brat. I’m not proud about it.
- “You are never there.”- Raven wept and all I managed to do was hold Spencer’s hand as I turned to him. His tears ran down his face as he tried to get himself together.
- “I’m so sorry, Birdy. But we have to get the bad guys.”- my voice shook at the end of the sentence.
- “Why is it always you? Why can't Uncle Derek do it?”
- “Oh, Birdy”- Spencer mumbled and took a deep breath, trying to get himself together.- “We are helping Uncle Morgan right now get the bad guys.”
- “I just wanted to sing for you.”- Raven kept sobbing. - “Why don’t you love me?”
- “Raven Marie, we love you so much.”- I managed to say before I broke into tears. I hid my face in Spencer’s chest as he continued talking.
- “Your mom and I are very sorry we couldn’t be there today. We promise we’ll make it up to you.”- Raven didn’t reply, instead we heard my mother’s voice on the other side of the line.
- “I’m sorry kids. She wanted to talk to you.”
- “Thank you for taking care of her, Sofia.”- Spencer managed to say. I know he was trying to be strong, but honestly, both our hearts were broken.
- “Frank and Milkey came along. We are having ice cream and then I’m gonna take her home.”
- “We’ll pick her up as soon as we are done here.”- Spencer added.
- “Take care, kids. I know you are doing the best you can. And she will see that when she is old enough.”
- “Thank you, mom.”- I whispered and tried not to sob too hard.- “We’ll call you later, ok?”
- “Sure, peanut. Love you.”- I couldn’t talk anymore. I just broke into tears one more time as Spencer hung up and placed the phone in my pocket.
- “It’s ok, ma cherié”
- “It’s not ok. This is what I always hated about my dad’s job. This is what I swore to myself at ten years old I was never going to put my babies through!”- I sobbed against his sweater, feeling like the worst mother on earth. The sound of Raven’s cries on the other side of the phone had been way too much for me to deal with, especially considering what was going on.
- “This is wrong.”- I murmured and tried to put myself together. - “We don’t have time for this now. Derek needs us.”
- “It’s gonna be ok.” Spencer whispered as he wrapped his arms around me tightly. - “We are not going to miss any more recitals. And she is going to forgive us. She knows we are doing this to help other people.”
- “Spencer, she is about to be four, she doesn’t have to understand this. She needs her dad and mom.”- my husband kissed the top of my head and sighed.
Spencer’s point of view
The night Morgan became a dad was the night I understood he was going to leave us. My wife had pointed it out a few times before that, trying to prepare me for that moment, but I didn’t want to believe it. I thought we were going to be a team forever. But he had a new team. One that was more important than anything else.
It made me feel I was a lousy father for a moment. He was quitting to make sure his wife and kid were alright. It was something I had thought of many times until that day, but I had never found the guts to do it. I couldn’t blame him, though. He had been through hell and back.
Meanwhile, I kept overanalyzing everything that had happened that day, hell was waiting for us when we picked up our kids from Sofia’s house. Raven had refused to sleep and also refused to talk to us. Vinny was fast asleep when (Y/N)held him in her arms and kissed his forehead. Sofia offered us something to eat, but we just wanted to get home and get some rest. It had been an eternal day, and seeing our daughter’s teary eyes and hardened face made it even worse.
- “I don’t wanna.”- she argued right away as I tried to pick her up. Raven kept fidgeting every time my hands tried to reach her.
- “Come on, baby. We have to go home. Don’t you wanna go to bed? We can have a special breakfast tomorrow.”- I offered her, but she hid behind Sofia and started whimpering.
- “No! I don’t love you!”
- “Birdy, you don’t mean that.”- I whispered as I knelt closer to her. She stayed behind Sofia’s legs and refused to even look at me. Her eyes were filled with tears and I could see her struggling to both stay awake and not to cry. It was heartbreaking.
- “Raven Marie, we talked about this.”- Sofia moved and took my daughter in her arms carefully.- “Your mom and dad had to work tonight and they couldn’t go to your recital, but they still love you very much.”
But our daughter ignored my words, (Y/N)’s words, and her grandma’s words. Instead, she decided to give us the silent treatment and ignore us all the way back home.
(Y/N)made us some tea after she put Vinny in his crib, and I was struggling with Raven’s bedtime. She didn’t speak but refused to brush her teeth and put on her pajamas.
- “Birdy, I know you are upset. And you have all the right to be mad at me and your mom.”- I whispered as I sat on her bed and put my hands on her shoulders, trying to make sure she was paying me attention.- “But you have to know your momma and I were helping Uncle Derek. No one is more important than you, but when someone needs our help, we can’t turn our back on them.”
Raven refused to look at me, but at least she got into bed. I read her a short bedtime story, kissed her cheek, and wished her a good night before I left the room.
- “How is she?”- my wife asked as I walked into our room. She was already in bed, sipping her lavender tea.
- “Still angry.”- I untied my tie, left it on a chair, and unbuttoned my shirt before falling on our bed.- “She didn’t say a word.”
- “And she is just three… I don’t wanna think of our lives when our girl is a teenager.”- (Y/N)cut me a short mile, but it was clear she was trying to make lights off of what was happening.
- “I’m glad we still have a few more years until then, ma cheriè.”
We both stayed quiet for a moment. I grabbed the cup of herbal tea my wife had left on my bedside table and took a long sip.
- “Am I a bad mother?”- her whisper broke the silence and made me whip my head immediately.
- “You are not. Of course, you are not.”- I held her hand and kissed it, as tears fell from her cheeks.
- “We broke her heart, and she is three years old.”
- “She will forgive us.”
- “But how do I forgive myself?”- my wife broke into tears and I wrapped my arms around her, sitting her on my lap. I wanted to be strong for her, I wanted to find the right words to make her feel better. But I had nothing, ‘cos honestly, I was feeling very low.
- “Maybe we should quit.”- it was the first time one of us had said it out loud. I froze at her words. I didn’t see it coming. But my wife had been brave enough to say the words that had haunted my mind so many times.
- “Quit?”- I asked, half shocked, half confused. - “Morgan is gonna leave, what will do the team without us?”
- “What will our kids do without us?”
And I didn’t know what to reply to that.
- “Mommy…”- Raven’s voice ended that conversation, or the start of it. She stood at our door holding the stuffed unicorn Mikey had given her.
- “What is it, birdy?”- (Y/N)asked, sitting on our bed, whipping the tears from her face quickly.- “Did you have a bad dream?”
Raven shook her head as she walked slowly toward the bed. Her big brown eyes were filled with tears, and she kept biting her lower lip, the same way her mother always does when she is nervous.
- “Do you wanna sleep with us tonight, birdy?”- (Y/N)whispered and tapped on the bed. Our daughter nodded but didn’t move from the spot she was standing at. My wife stood up and took a few steps until she stood in front of Raven, kneeled, and opened her arms to our daughter, who nearly ran to her and wrapped her arms around her neck, sobbing.
- “I’m sorry mommy”
- “It’s ok, baby. I’m sorry too.”
It was such a moving scene tears fell from my eyes as I stared at my wife and daughter hugging as they lay on our bed. I scooted closer to them and wrapped an arm around them, kissing Raven’s cheek and (Y/N)’s temple.
- “Your mommy and I love you so much.”- I whispered and watched our daughter sob a few times before she fell asleep on (Y/N)’s warm chest.
Neither of us said another word after that. We just laid with her on our bed, Vinny sleeping peacefully on his crib near us. I wanted to put a bubble around us all and never let anything hurt us.
I didn’t know it back then, but the only way I could do that was by quitting the BAU.
The following week, Morgan came back to the BAU for the last time. We all knew he was leaving, Hotch had told us. But it was still hard for all of us to deal with what it meant losing him in our team. In our daily basics.
When we walked to the bullpen’s door, I saw Morgan hugging JJ and I knew what was happening next. I knew he was there to say goodbye. It was going to be our last time there, and I didn’t feel I was ready to face it. So I left (Y/N)standing there alone and ran away to the meeting room.
Chicken much? Yeah, I know. But everyone knows I am not a fan of changes, and that day was especially hard for me. I was losing my brother. It wasn’t just another profiler leaving. It was my best friend we were talking about. And I was happy for him, of course I was. He got everything he ever wanted. It was just hard dealing with the guilt of not being as brave as him and doing the same for my family.
But of course, I wasn’t ready to deal with that truth just yet.
- “I know you hate goodbyes kid. And change.”- Morgan found me and walked into the room, facing the issue upfront. I wasn’t expecting anything less from him. I turned to face him, my eyes already filling with tears, and he cut me a warm smile, knowing how hard it was for me.
- “Hey. It isn't always a bad thing.”- he added- “And you’ve been getting better at dealing with changes. At least with changing diapers.”- I chuckle at those words. I liked the fact we could keep that conversation closer to the fun side because it was too painful to deal with.
- “You are gonna be better.”- I whispered and he smiled.
- “Only ‘cos I learned from the best.”- Morgan added and we both stayed in silence for a few seconds. Everything about saying goodbye to my best friend hurt. So I sighed loudly and finally accepted the truth.
- “I just can't imagine this room without you.”
- “So don't. Don't think about it.”- Morgan quickly answered, still smiling. - “Just know I'm always gonna be by your side. I'm just a phone call away.”
- “I know. Raven won’t let you go either. She loves Sunday brunch with you and Savannah.”- we both smiled for a moment, but tears quickly threatened to fall again.
- “I'm sorry I can't stay.”- Morgan apologized and I shook my head right away.
- “I don't want you to stay.”- I quickly replied thinking I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay either, but I also wasn’t ready to deal with that just yet.- “Because I know why you're leaving and I couldn't be happier for you.”- I simply looked at him with a smile, because I honestly didn’t want him to feel guilty about leaving. Still, his eyes watered up as he took a step closer and grabbed something from his back pocket
- “Listen, we were gonna mail these, but I wanted you to have a birth announcement first.”- he opened the envelope and handed the announcement. I didn’t know what to say or how to react to it. So I just read it out loud, feeling a knot in my throat.
- “Hank Spencer Morgan.”- my voice broke as I stared at the picture of baby Hank in my hands. I couldn’t stop smiling as I looked at it. It was the sweetest gesture. It was more than I deserved. My best friend had named his baby after me. What had I done in life to deserve that much love from him?
- “Yeah. Hank is for my pops. But Spencer is for the best little brother anybody could ever ask for.”- his words were too much, and before I knew it I was sobbing. Morgan wrapped his arms around me and tapped on my back as he whispered.
- “I love you, kid.”
- “I love you.”- I replied knowing he was doing the right thing. It was just too painful to deal with how it felt at the moment. But it was meant to happen.
- “So, look, my little dude, he's gonna need a favorite uncle. To teach him everything he knows about life. And chess.”- Morgan chuckled at his words and I nodded smiling.
- “I can do that.”
- “I know you can.”
- “Which reminds me, I’m gonna need you to teach me how to play soccer, so I can teach Vinny eventually.”- my answer made him laugh.
It was comforting knowing Morgan was leaving the team, but he wasn’t leaving my life. That was a big change. We weren’t going to stop meeting, he wasn’t walking out of my life. He was just taking a step back from work and focusing on his family. The

Swordfight
James Hook x GN!Swords-person!Reader
Requested
Word Count: 2.4k
Content & Warnings: Mentions of blades (swords), sword fighting, one mention of wanting stab Hook’s face, worry of injury, no injuries, lots of flirting (on Hook’s end), one innuendo, reader isn’t really a VK or an AK (just doesn’t care for rules)
Summary: It’s your first time meeting James Hook, and he challenges you to a duel with a certain reward in mind if he wins…
Sitting at the edge of the water fountain in the courtyard, you were sharpening your sword.
The thin, silver-colored blade shone brightly in the afternoon light.
It hadn’t been easy sneaking it around the eyes of teachers, but you’d managed to keep it out of view. Your sword was a part of you, and you never wanted to part from it.
Who cares about rules anyways? If you got in trouble, so be it. You’d probably just escape detention or whatever they were planning on punishing you with anyways. If they caught you.
A shadow cast over your lap.
Looking up, you saw the suave face of a young man with brown hair.
“You know, they don’t let you carry those ‘round here.” He mused in an accent you couldn’t quite place, hand casually on his hip. A deep red coat was draped over his shoulders -arms not in the sleeves- and concealing his other hand. You squinted your eyes.
“I know.” You said without care, looking back down to return to your task. “Rules are made to be broken anyways.”
Expecting him walk away, you were surprised to see the shadow stay in place. You looked up at him again, raising an eyebrow. He just loomed in closer to you.
“You know, I’m very good with a sword in my hand myself.” He said, inflating his chest (along with his ego).
“Oh, I’m sure you are.” You smirked, humoring him a little. He may have been pestering you, but you did have to admit; he had a handsome face.
His hand reached forward to touch your own; or maybe it was to grab your sword hilt. Either way, you recoiled at the sudden intrusion of space.
Getting up quick and moving to the side, you pointed your blade at him and gave him a look. You’d permit flirting, but you wouldn’t let a near-stranger get too close to you so casually.
“You really shouldn’t have that.” Was all he said in response; only further entertained by the threat. His body language was completely casual and fluid.
“Why do you care?” You asked, feeling your patience wear down a little at his antics and insistency of not buzzing off; despite his good looks.
“Oh,” He said with amusement. “Well I’d hate to see you get in trouble.”
You were pretty sure he was enticed by the idea, actually.
Still, you weren’t going to let him rile you up like this.
“Who are you anyways?”
There was venom in your tone, but it may as well have been honey to him. The mystery student took on a look of fake shock before waving his hand in a circular motion and bowing at the waist in a flourishing act.
“The name’s Captain James Hook; Feared pirate of the seas. Most call me ‘Hook’.” He looked up at you, still bent at the waist. “But you, Darling…” he winked. “can call me your date.”
You couldn’t stop the laugh that escaped you. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to dim his spirits.
“And why would I go on a date with you?” You asked with mirth. Hook’s eyes twinkled.
“Because.” He stood up straight. “It’ll be my reward for beating you in the challenge.”
“‘The challenge’?”
“A duel.” He enunciated, clarifying with pursed lips.
You sniggered.
He wanted to have a swordfight with you?
You flicked your blade down at your side with a swish. Then, you gave a brief, mock bow.
“Alright then, Captain. I’ll indulge you. However,” you gave him a glance full of warning. “It’s your funeral.”
Hook merely blew you a kiss as he walked off to grab a hidden sword he must’ve stashed away for this very instance. He was leisurely with his time as he made his way back to you; grip very loose on the handle.
“Good luck.” You said sarcastically, readying your stance. He did the same.
“Why would I need that when you’re motivation enough for me?”
His words caught you off guard, and in the next moment, the metal in his hand clashed against yours with heavy force; the sound stinging your ears.
Hurriedly getting focused back on the danger in front of you, you pushed his blade away, but Hook only returned for more.
Quickly getting into the zone, you studied his way of attacking and footwork. You’d gone up against many opponents over the years, and your analysis yielded one result; he was good.
Adjusting your weight to parry him, you allowed your eyebrows to scrunch in annoyance. Hook was vicious in his attacks, whilst still maintaining a certain elegance. His sword whipped across your vision like a needle and you began taking steps backward to get a better eye on it.
He turned the angle of your fight, making your back face the water fountain. The sounds of sharp metal stopped only for a moment as you were forced to hop backwards onto the fountain edge.
Hook’s smile continued at the sign of weakness. Gritting your teeth, you waited for him to hop up on the ledge as well so you could lunge toward him and make him fall.
Unfortunately, he seemed to have seen that coming, because he increased the speed of his attacks and thrusts the second he joined you on the small space of tile.
Once again, you were backing up. So, you made a feint at him, only to completely over throw your weight.
Your body careened towards the churning water.
A hand grabbed hold of your waist and spun you back to your feet. Hook’s torso was pressed up against yours and he gave you a charming smile.
“Falling for me alr-“
He didn’t get to finish his pun before you attempted to stab him from a close distance. Luckily for him, he had good reflexes.
Huffing in annoyance, you finished walking off the back of the fountain edge and dropping onto the ground.
As Hook stood above you, grinning, he spun his fine blade around a couple times and made a few fancy slashes. Then, he built up a huge jump and lunged at you.
You merely side stepped, and he was set stumbling forward.
Taking the opportunity, you sprinted to the nearby stone wall and its pillars. As you did so, you noticed many students facing you; it seemed you had gathered an audience.
You heard Hook following behind you and resisted the urge to look back.
Going around a thick pillar, you were hoping he would trail you as you swung around back to the courtyard. Instead, you ran right into him; he had went the other way.
Your palm was pressed up against his chest in fear of the sudden impact, and you wanted to stab that stupid look on his face as he teased you with a: “If you wanted to feel me up all you had to do was ask.”
Shoving him away, you turned around to go back to where you came from. You quickly found he did the same and moved in front of you again in anticipation of your moves; essentially blocking you off.
Huffing, you moved back to the center and waited for him to move to the outside of the courtyard.
Taking notice of the vines covering the stone bricks, you changed your mind and started to climb to try and escape.
You gripped your sword between your teeth to give freedom to both hands.
Hearing rustling sounds under you, you groaned.
“Can’t you just leave me alone?” You asked with your teeth clenched, exasperated. If you had known how this would go, you would have never agreed.
“Aww come on,” He drawled, not nearly as out of breath as you hoped he would be. “Give me a chance.”
About to bite back a remark, you became inquisitive at hearing a sharp sound dig into the wall below you.
Was he using his sword to climb?
Shaking your head, you hauled yourself to the top; getting on your feet as soon as possible.
The sun immediately hit your eyes. So, before turning around to anticipate your opponent, you briskly walked across the precarious wall into some shade that was provided by the taller academy building.
That same building also provided a nice dead end for you.
Hearing scuffling sounds behind you, you turned around; panting.
Hook held his steel in between his teeth like you had. While grabbing the hilt, he let out an exhale as he removed it from his mouth. That in combination with the sunlight hitting his brown eyes and making them sparkle, you silently cursed yourself for getting in this undesirable position with such a pretty man.
“Running away already?” He told you with a smirk. “I apologize if I was that scary, Darling.”
Was he implying you were a coward?
“Never.” You spat. “In fact…” you took a few bold steps toward him, making elegant slashes not unlike the ones he had made earlier. “I think you should be scared of me.”
Hook let out a chuckle.
“And why should I?” He taunted.
Close enough now, you gave his shiny blade a slight nudge with your own as a test.
“You’ll see.” You mused.
And so you were back into your flow.
You parried him and made lunges; staying within your range limits but also not allowing him to back you up either.
You were firm. Sturdy.
And Hook seemed to keep things steady with you as well. He was casual with his blocks and jabs, but it wasn’t without effort.
He took a few steps backward; seemingly for fun and allowing you to advance.
Then, it reversed. He pressed forward, and you turned to more parries as you backed up.
It almost seemed like… a game. Or something.
As Hook gave you his good-hearted smirk that you had gotten used to in the five minutes you had known the man, you found that your irritation was gone.
In its place was a certain thrill.
You were excited over the fight. It gave you a challenge; a rush you hadn’t felt in a long time.
Slightly laughing at a fun slice of steel up against each other in a noise that would make most people cringe, you let out a smile as you spun around to deliver another blow.
It all felt like a dance, with Hook leading you expertly; the swords making sharp music of their own.
You found that you were actually enjoying it.
Now, “what were you going to ask Hook for when you won?” was the question on your mind.
Maybe you’d make him your date, you thought jokingly (although you found you weren’t disgusted by the idea).
Hook made a harsh jab at you in the middle of your daydream, disrupting you.
You stumbled backwards.
Trying to get back on your feet as he got close again, you had no choice but to recede to the wall that was part of Merlin Academy’s building behind you.
You stood up fully, but it was too late.
His weapon was now pointed directly at your throat.
Hook jutted his face forward.
“I win.” He gloated, and you opened your mouth.
Cheering burst from down below, and you got briefly distracted and glanced down at the crowd you didn’t even realize had accumulated. It seemed more students had gathered to watch you two than what there had been when the whole thing began.
Remembering your dangerous situation, you immediately brought your attention back to Hook, only to find that he was distracted all the same.
Not wasting a second, you circled your blade around his and forced it out of his hand; making it soar through the air and hit the ground below in a soft clatter.
“No;” you mused with just the slightest hint of smugness, pointing your sword at his throat now. “I win.”
Hook eyes widened, then he pouted, but it seemed superficial; in a sort of mock-pity type of way. You squinted your eyes at him with suspicion. Why would he act like that if he had just lost?
“Students!” A rather calm voice exclaimed from below. ”Please come down from there right now!”
Professor Merlin.
You winced, looking down at the man who wouldn’t tolerate all the rule breaking that had just occurred.
And that distraction was your downfall.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Hook’s coat fly up as his left arm (the one that was hidden the whole time) finally revealed itself. A metal glint could be caught from the area of his hand as it swung around your thin blade, pulling at it with an inexplicable force and yanking it out of your hand.
It joined his own on the ground beneath you. They beautifully crossed each other, forming an “x”.
Hook pushed forward into your space, and you felt something sharp press lightly into the side of your neck.
You squinted down. It appeared to be a metal hook.
Your breath caught; worry shooting through you of it piercing your skin.
Trying to back up, you realized the wall was directly behind you. You had nowhere to run.
Glancing downwards, you briefly pondered the likelihood of breaking something if you jumped down to grab your sword.
“I wouldn’t do that.” Hook advised, somehow knowing what you were thinking. “Wouldn’t want you to ruin those legs of yours, ay?”
You gritted your teeth. How could you have lost?
Looking Hook in the eye now, you decided to accept your fate. The sooner you got this over with, the sooner your feelings of humiliation would pass.
“So,” he said, retracting himself. “about that date.”
“At this rate you’ll be having your date in detention!” Merlin declared, just waiting for you to get down. “Let me know if you need assistance getting down!”
Sparing you a glance, Hook winked at you, saying “another time then” before taking a leap off the wall.
Your heart lurched out of your chest.
He did a roll onto the ground, and you sighed in relief.
You ignored the realization of being worried about his well-being as he picked up both of your blades, immediately walking away with them in his hand.
Thief.
You changed your mind; he was a jerk.
Still, a tiny part of your heart fluttered at the idea of having to comply with his request of going on a date with him.
Even though you had been adverse when you first met him, the brief -yet intense- sword fight had made you learn things about him that were, well, endearing.
As Hook disappeared without a trace and Merlin continued to shout at you, a tiny smile slipped through.
Maybe going on a date with him wouldn’t be so bad after all.

She Is My World *.✧
TW: teenage pregnancy, mentions of pregnancy
next - She Is My World part 2
The dojo was silent except for the faint rustle of fabric as Donnie adjusted his arm wraps, fingers fumbling more than usual. His brothers were just getting ready for training, joking around, oblivious to the tension radiating off him. He swallowed hard, glancing at Splinter, who was calmly waiting for everyone to settle in. He hadn’t planned to say anything yet. But the weight of the secret felt like it was crushing him.
“Sensei,” Donnie’s voice came out louder than he intended. Everyone turned to look at him. Leo raised an eyebrow, while Raph squinted suspiciously.
“What is it, Donatello?” Splinter asked, folding his hands and watching him with that calm, patient gaze.
Donnie took a deep breath, looking down, the words tangled on his tongue. “I… I have something important to say.” He hesitated, feeling the intensity of their stares on him.
“(Y/N) is… she’s pregnant,” he finally said, his voice wavering slightly as he looked up. The room went dead silent. His brothers’ faces were frozen in shock, but his attention stayed on Splinter, whose calm facade didn’t break – but his eyes showed a flicker of surprise and something else. Disappointment?
“Wait, are you serious?” Mikey finally blurted, eyes wide. Raph and Leo exchanged glances, both at a loss for words.
Splinter took a deep breath, holding up a hand. “Leave us, my sons. I must speak to Donatello alone.” His voice was gentle but firm, and the other three immediately headed out, casting worried glances at Donnie before disappearing.
As the door slid shut, Donnie stood there, his head down. Splinter motioned for him to sit, and Donnie obeyed, feeling like he was back to being a young boy again. They sat in silence for a long moment before Splinter finally spoke.
“I must admit, my son, I did not expect to hear this news.” Splinter’s voice was calm, but there was a subtle edge of disappointment. “It is not that I am disappointed in you for… sharing love with someone. You are a teenager, and this is natural. However… to be a father at your age, Donatello? That is a big responsibility.”
Donnie nodded, his fingers nervously twisting together. “I know, Sensei… I didn’t expect it either. And I know we’re young, but… I love her. And I want to be there for her, no matter what.”
Splinter’s gaze softened a little. “That is commendable, Donatello. I am proud of your desire to take responsibility. But love alone does not prepare one to raise a child. Parenthood requires strength, patience, and selflessness – qualities I know you have, yet… you are still so young. You have not yet finished growing yourself.”
“I know,” Donnie whispered. “But I can learn. I’m going to make this work. I have to.”
Splinter sighed deeply, his eyes seeming to look through Donnie, into memories of his own past. “I was very young when I first became a father – much older than you, but unprepared. Every day, I feared I was failing my daughter. And when I lost her…” he trailed off, his gaze distant. “Even as I tried to raise you and your brothers, I was haunted by my inexperience and by all that I did not know.”
Donnie looked up at him, surprised. Splinter rarely spoke about his past, let alone his regrets. “Sensei, I had no idea.”
“Few do, my son. This is the truth of parenthood: it is a journey of mistakes, struggles, and heartbreaks. And when you are so young…” He hesitated, then reached out, placing a gentle hand on Donnie’s shoulder. “Donatello, I only want you to understand. I worry for you because I know how hard it will be.”
Donnie swallowed, feeling a lump in his throat. “I understand, Sensei. But… I can’t turn away. This isn’t just about me – it’s about (Y/N), too. She’s scared. I have to be there for her.”
Splinter nodded slowly, his grip on Donnie’s shoulder firm but comforting. “You have a noble heart, Donatello, and that is a gift. But you must understand that there will be sacrifices. There will be days where you feel lost, overwhelmed. Are you prepared to face this?”
Donnie took a shaky breath, the enormity of Splinter’s words sinking in. “I don’t know if I’m ready. But I know I want to try. I want to be the best I can, for her and for… the baby.”
Splinter’s gaze softened, a faint, proud smile appearing on his face. “That is all I can ask, my son. It is not the age that makes one ready for parenthood, but the heart. And I see you have a heart strong enough for this journey. You will not face it alone.” He paused, a trace of warmth entering his eyes. “We are your family, and we will support you as best we can.”
Donnie felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes and quickly looked down, nodding. “Thank you, Sensei. I… I know it’s going to be hard, but… I won’t let you down.”
Splinter nodded, a sense of acceptance in his eyes. “No, Donatello. You have already shown great courage in coming to me with this. That, my son, is the mark of a true parent – the willingness to seek guidance, even when you fear disappointment.”
Donnie felt an overwhelming gratitude for his father’s understanding and acceptance.

Finally getting to the marbit part of the marbit fic! And be warned that chapters are gonna start getting longer. My submission for day 3 of @outsidersweek, thanks to @walmartbrandwhatever for being my beta reader, and part three of this fic
April, 1967
Marcia
Trip was off at the concession stand getting snacks for Marcia, when two boys sat down on the bench behind her, cackling and talking as loud as possible. ‘Just ignore them!’ Marcia thought to herself as she gazed up at the huge screen of the drive-in. But Marcia wasn’t known for taking the smart route.
“Oh would you just shut up!! Some of us are trying to watch a movie, you know!” She snapped, looking back at the two greasers who seemed shocked at her outburst.
“And how do you know we aren’t watching the movie?” One of the boys asked, cocking an eyebrow.
The other one stood up, “I’m gonna go find Ace,” he said, seemingly too tired to deal with the feisty soc in front of him. The first boy simply grinned and waved him off.
“Well sure,” Marcia responded once the other boy was gone, “this horror movie is known for its very comedic scenes” she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
“If you’re taking it seriously, then I’m not sure you’ve been watching it at all.”
Marcia looked back up at the screen, and had to choke back a laugh. “Do they really expect us to believe that that’s what it looks like for a huge blob to eat a person?”
“And you’re so educated about that subject?”
“I’ll have you know my older brother was tragically eaten by the huge blob that infested our house, and trust me it looked nothing like that”
“I suppose the socs do get bigger houses, but at least the east side isn’t infected with blobs.”
“Well, you win some, you lose some.”
The boy grinned, and Marcia felt something in her heart flutter. He moved over to sit next to her in one fluid motion.
“Say, you got a name?” he asked,
“Not one to spare, I’m afraid. You?”
“I got two names, you want one?”
“Why not?”
The boy held out two closed hands. “Pick one,” he offered.
Marcia pointed at his left hand, and the boy laughed.
“You sure?”
“Of course,”
The boy took a breath, then said, “Keith.”
Marcia laughed, “you’re kidding me! I really should have gone with the right hand.”
“I did warn you! You want my other name?”
“Yeah,” Marcia grinned,
“Then tell me yours, the boy challenged, a mischievous smile on his face that felt like it could light up Marcias whole world. She wished she could sit here with this boy for the rest of the night, but just as she was thinking that, she heard a loud voice behind her.
“Marcia, what the hell are you doing!!”
Marcia jumped up from the bench to look at her boyfriend, “Trip-”
“I leave for five minutes and you immediately go talk to some dirty greaser?!”
“Trip stop-” she pleaded, but her boyfriend had already stormed off towards his car. Marcia turned back to the boy who had brightened her world for a moment.
“Marcia. Pretty name.” He said, with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
“I have to go after him…” Marcia paused, then said, “you have my name, now can I have yours?”
“Two-Bit.” he responded,
“Bye Two-Bit,” Marcia said, a sad smile on her face, before she turned away and ran after her boyfriend. She caught him just before he opened the door to his car. “Trip stop- Trip please! He was disrupting the movie so I tried to get him to stop, but then he came and sat next to me and he wouldn't stop talking. I didn’t invite him over or anything! Trip please don’t be mad!”
“You both looked pretty cozy to me…”
“We weren’t! I promise.” Marcia put her hand on Trips face and turned his eyes towards her, before pressing her lips against his.
“I’ll kill that greaser if I ever see him again. I swear I will.” Trip said, but his eyes had started to soften.
“Trip you know how I feel when you get into fights! Just let it go, alright?” She pleaded, pressing her lips to his once again. She finally felt him melt against her, and he lifted her up to sit on the hood of his car, his arms wrapped around her. She gazed over his shoulder and locked eyes with Two-Bit. He looked resigned, almost sad, but accepting. He then turned away from her, seemingly without a second thought. Something about him tugged at Marcias heartstrings, but she just closed her eyes and nuzzled her face into Trips neck, wondering if she’d ever get that smile out of her head.

Back at it again with another theory: What if Lucanis’ betrayal wasn’t a betrayal at all?
(obviously, spoilers below the cut)
During The Wigmaker Job, we have some dialogue between Illario and Lucanis about their position within both the Crows and the Dellamorte family. Illario wants Caterina to step down so he can take the coveted First Talon spot. Lucanis reassures him that his time is coming, to which Illario makes a snide comment about whether his cousin would ever go against their grandmother’s wishes. When they continue the conversation after the job, Illario states that Lucanis is the potential heir, that he’s her favorite, and that he’s unlikely to say no to her. Lucanis doesn’t argue, only insists that he doesn’t want to be First Talon, and that he hopes she’ll see reason before that. It’s mentioned again in Eight Little Talons - Caterina favors Lucanis. It’s well-known enough among the Crows that Viago and Teia discuss it in front of her (not on purpose, but she doesn’t deny it). He’s her prodigy through and through.
In the opening scene for the Lucanis quest in Veilguard, Caterina is poised, as you’d expect of the First Talon. She’s certain that the body they buried wasn’t her grandson, that it had been altered with blood magic. She doesn’t pose it as a theory, though: she poses it as a fact. It could, of course, merely be her confidence, but there’s another very unusual aspect to the scene – everyone else discusses how Lucanis was clearly betrayed, that someone must have sold him out in order for the Venatori to capture him. Caterina is the only one in that room who never speaks on it. She doesn’t ask for justice, doesn’t mention vengeance, never acknowledges that her grandson was sold out by someone he trusted – perhaps because he wasn’t.
What if, when Caterina comes to him with a plan, with an impossible request, he’s still her favorite prodigal grandchild, and he still does whatever she asks? She’s had him tortured before as a child, has tortured and starved and beaten him herself before, because it makes him stronger and more resistant to it in the future. He says in The Wigmaker Job that he used to hate her for it, but now he understands. He justifies it. All Crows justify it, because they have to - if they don’t, then the cruelty wasn’t for survival’s sake, and their suffering meant nothing. Perhaps he doesn’t even question it. When Caterina tells him that she has a job for him, he takes it.
What if the contract has a caveat? Sure, Calivan must die by his hand by the end of it, a little treat for a job well done, but what if his primary mission is reconnaissance, is discovery? The Venatori are using blood magic to torture and corrupt prisoners. It would behoove the Crows to find out what it entails and how to resist it, before it’s turned back on them. It would have to be someone so deeply, unabashedly loyal to her that when she asked them to infiltrate a Venatori prison, expecting torture at best, their own death at worst, they’d take the job anyway, no questions asked - someone Caterina can trust, certainly, but also someone who has never once said no to her.
And Lucanis has always been a loyal grandson.
#lucanis dellamorte#dragon age: the veilguard#datv#datv spoilers#veilguard spoilers#da posting#maybe it’s also just because she thinks it would make him stronger and that’s how she always justifies it to herself because she’s evil!!!!#she’s MICRODOSING her GRANDSON with BLOOD TORTURE and DEMONS to fashion him into A BETTER WEAPON#I keep hearing people be like ‘oh there’s a moment in the lucanis storyline where I GASPED’#and other than like ‘he was dead the entire time’ I’m like…… what would be that shocking#and you know what would be that shocking??#if he put himself through it on purpose#envisioning a line where he’s like ‘when Caterina told me to go I didn’t ask questions because I’m a good crow!!!!!’#(also I think that would REALLY give a good bite to his demon being SPITE of all things)#also also I still think that Illario kills caterina (if she’s actually dead) but y’know what?#if he does GOOD FOR HIM#also lucanis just happening to be bursting out of his cell when you get there…. SUSPECT#was he just ready to break out at any time? if so why did he stay and get tortured for a YEAR?#why were the guards so afraid of him?? what was he capable of???#‘you’re a crow’ or ‘but you’re not a crow’ ohhhh so you were expecting a rescue?#oh I am CONNECTING the DOTS (I haven’t connected shit) I’VE CONNECTED THEM#voelene#your caterina + illario post started these wheels turning and I am eternally grateful#also tho did update this slightly because I forgot about their conversation at the end of TWJ#also got so wrapped up in my hatred of caterina that I failed to consider another emotionally devastating option:#that lucanis was the one who wanted to go and caterina covered for him#now THAT’S got some bite to it too#and maybe Lucanis volunteering to take on a demon is why it doesn’t possess him fully#it’s like a wynne/anders thing it’s symbiotic

#ok I’m so proud of myself bc this involves finance which is something I avoid at all costs but like I did it!!#my work failed to process my check which I should have received yesterday. I’m now expected to get it next week#and part of growing up poor is like. idk. this learned helplessness or defeatist attitude with money problems#like ohh it’s my bad I should’ve had more savings to cover waiting an extra week or longer for my monthly check#and historically I just shut down and panic while doing nothing bc this is my biggest possible stressor to come across#but!!! being around rich people? I’ve learned they negotiate!! and demand to not be inconvenienced!!#my work was like ehh I’m sorry too bad so sad about your check and I was like actually no#I explained how this impacts my ability to pay rent. my credit score. how they didn’t inform me in time to stop bill autopay#and asked what their detailed plan is to fix this#and within an hour admin was scrambling. four different people emailed me apologizing for the mix up#and they worked it out with finance to get me a $2000 loan to get me by until the check hits#but I was like actually no. I won’t be paying interest on this because I shouldn’t be penalized for your error#and so they GOT RID OF INTEREST#0% interest cash advance essentially that covers all my bills#I picked up the physical check for the 2k today so it’s legit thank god#I thanked everyone involved and remained extremely polite#and they said if there’s any other questions you have please let us know#so I was like actually you know what lmao#I explained that I’ve incurred fees for overdrafts and returned items due to bill autopay that I couldn’t cancel due to them informing me#basically the day of my check being late#and so I specifically said I’ve incurred $270 in fees at this point as a result of your error and I shouldn’t be expected to pay this.#and!! they just said… okay!!! I just got an email that they’ve processed a secondary check for $270!!#so like?!?! what?!?! is this what life is like when you don’t shy away from discussing money?!#im genuinely shocked. this is a life lesson. I never would have imagined this outcome#thank god I decided to not take it lying down

I’ve reached the point in my Fairy Tail rewatch where it’s further along than tfd ever got, which means shit keeps happening that makes me go “fucking WHAT”
#mobbtalks#I’ll be real tfd embedded in my brain more solidly than the actual plot did. because tfd is my baby#specifically I’m on the oracion seis arc which I mostly remember for trying to puzzle around how to like. actually tackle it in tfd#it was next up on the chopping block. when I hit the wall I was like. I’d say 3-4 chapters away from it#so the plot beats I remember -the seis themselves#- the guild alliance and (most) of who’s participating in that#- big weird land thing goes walkabout and they have to destroy all its legs at once#things I did not remember but that have BLASTED me. - Ichiya.#and I. I fucking hate to say it. bc I hated ichiya the first go round but I think he might genuinely be funnier in the sub? god. god.#maybe it’s also because every time I have an episode going I’m also doing a few other things#- the monkey guys. genuinely thought they were a filler side plot didn’t expect them to come back#- Erigor comes back???? I uh. I killed him off in tfd bc I forgot that. haha. whoops.#- fucking *JELLAL* which is something I am. quite frankly. *shocked* I forgot#this guy is at the centre of like. every goddamn arc <- exaggeration#things I half remember which have yet to be confirmed one of which is kind of alarming#- there was a guy who was real obsessed with potatoes?#- I’m pretty sure this brain guy was uh. white. he’s black. he also has a line about switching ‘dark’ and ‘light’. the implications of this#concern me.
