really feel like trying to omit all gendered language from everyday speech is so performative. SORRY ^-^
#cin.txt#had this discussion yesterday at my book club#i understand the intention behind it all#like how the male/masculine is the default in languages (eg if theres one guy in a group of girls the whole pronoun used to refer to them is#changed to favour the 1 guy)#but i dont think the solution is to then get rid of ALL gendered references from language and replace it with complete gender neutrality#in invisible women there was a ref to this issue#where a report found that languages that were completely genderless did not have th most equal society#instead it found that natural gender languages were most equal#because 'if you can't mark gender in any way you can't 'correct' the hidden bias in a language by emphasising 'women's#presence in the world'.#so like making everything completely gender neutral has the potential to be not good#i feel like the Tumblr way of using words is much more idk radical?#like everybody still says boy girl guy fella#but we do it in a way that is aware of its meanings and seeking to contradict it anyway#LIKE THAT ONE POST THATS LIKE im doing to girls what people are doing to guys#LIKE YES YES DO THAT#instead of stopping yourself from saying hey guys to refer to a group of ppl#INSTEAD HAVE FUN WITH IT start calling middle aged men babygirl#call yourself a confused little guy when you are confused (esp if youre a cis woman)#not she/her as in cis woman but she/her as in a boat#yeah so true i totally get you#not boy as in a guy but boy as in when you refer to a dog#not boy as in a guy but boy as in kratos' son#yeah that makes sense to me as well

So what does Pomni and the rest of the Circus think of Arlekin?
✦ Boy oh boy, here we go !
Pomni | She finds Arlekin kinda creepy and unsettling, tbh. The whole "always smiling" thing is just weird- and it's really not like he's the nicest to her either. When she arrived, he called her his "pathetic, colourful little Pierrot" and has just been bullying her ever since. So, all in all, not a fan. He's not her least favourite, but he's certainly second lowest on the list.
Ragatha | Genuinely likes Arlekin ! (well, not an achievement, she'd rather like everybody... But hey, Jax can't do it , unlike him !) It's all in the fact that he's not as consistently shitty as Jax is. He has his... "nice" moments, where his assholery is on cool down, you could say. And Ragatha really likes him during those, so his other more mischievous moments get... a pass, somewhat. She'll scold him for it still. Plus, during Caine's adventures, he gets actually legitimately involved if he likes it, and if he doesn't, he'll just stand back and watch if anything fun happens, which means that unlike Jax, he won't actively sabotage things and get all murder hobo-ey, and she really REALLY appreciates that.
Caine | How could he not like this positively amusing fella ! Arlekin is almost NEVER mean to Caine, simply because he often tries to influence what the next adventure could be, and being nice to the ringmaster is paramount for good results. Caine also hardly sees any of Arlekin's more jerk-y behaviours as bad, it's the same as parents thinking boys pulling on girls' hair means they like them. "PLUS HE ACTUALLY LIKES THE CIRCUS ! HES HUMAN AND HE LIKES THE CIRCUS, YES !!!! AND HE'S CHOSEN HIS OWN NAME TOO, OH MY GOD !!!" - Caine
Jax | Depends on the day, sometimes you'd think they're best friends or just chill with one another, on other days you'd think they're mortal enemies. Comes down to their behaviour, if they're not bullying someone else, they're bullying each other. Not to mention Arlekin often blames Jax for pranks the former pulled, and it always works. Jax will mostly tell you "Two-face" is an "annoying, primadonna a--hat", but rarely he might say he's funny enough to hang with.
Gangle | Is not always fine with Arlekin. Not exactly when he teases or reads her diary that she tries to hide in a different spot every time (never works), but he's had a few occasions where he sounded genuinely ?? nice to her ??? Like when he saw her art and told her it looked "passable enough that she should continue". She thinks he's just too prideful to give a more genuine compliment on it, but it stuck with her still. She likes to show him what she draws.
Zooble | Not a fan really. Kinda finds Arlekin a bit cringe with his whole shtick. But oh well, he can do what he wants, so long as he's not bothering them, they won't care. Sadly he does bother them a lot, like the others, so they mostly see him in a negative light. Y'know, why would you be annoying in a place like this where life is already miserable ? They can be alright with him SOMETIMES, when the guy decides he's gonna be decent for a change. S'not often but Zooble tends to take what they can get in this hellhole.
Kinger | Used to be very annoyed at Arlekin, would scold him and tell him he should stop bullying others. But then he got a bit cuckoo, and all of this kind of stopped. He still doesn't like it by any means, but often he's just not all there enough to understand what's happening, so sometimes he says Arlekin got better over time, to which the jester simply responds he got worse over time.
Bubble | Jester man. Looks edible. Like half marshmallow and half roasted marshmallow.

"You're insufferable." "I'm glad."
This is part 2 to this, so go read that first!
Blue strided pridefully to the stage, standing beside who she now knows is David, as Jack waves to everyone. "Carrying the banner!" Jack yelled and everyone in the stands cheered. "We've come a long way, but we ain't done yet. And maybe it's only gonna get tougher from now on. But that's fine, we'll just get tougher with it!"
Everyone cheered while Jack started speaking again, "But also...also we gotta get smart and listen to my pal david," some cheered, mostly like Manhattan newsies, "Who says, 'stop soaking the scabs.'" Blue scoffed stepping to look at Jack. "Hey look Kelly, when me and my boys see scabs, we soak 'em. Period."
Every cheered as Jack looked very displeased. "No, no, no!" David cut of the cheering, "That's what they want us to do! If we get violent, it's just playing into their hands." "Hey look, they're gonna be playin' with my hands alright?" Spot said sternly. "It ain't what they say anymore, it's what we say." Blue cut in, scowling at David.
"And nobody ain't gonna listen to us unless we make 'em." Spot adds on. Everyone started cheering again as Spot and Blue glanced at each other. "You got no brains!" Kelly shouts, "We're starting to fight each other, it's just what the big shots wanna see! That we're street trash! Street rats with no brains, no respect for nothing including ourselves!"
Everyone started sitting and quieting down. "So here's how it is," Jack begins again, "If we don't act together, we're nothing! If we don't stick together, we're nothing!" "Tell 'em Jack!" A kid yells. "So what's it gonna be?" Murmurs of agreement could be heard from the crowd as Spot and Blue paced. "So whadda you say Spot?" Jack asked.
Spot looks out into the crowd, "I say what you say...is what I say." Some of the crowd cheered but not all of it as Jack turned to Blue, looking hopeful. "I say you're an idiot Jack Kelly...but that ain't always a bad thing." Blue spit on her hand with a grin as Jack repeated the actions and the crowd cheered. Suddenly the lights went out and a spotlight got turned to the curtains, a red haired woman stepping out at the crowd cheers and wolf whistles.
"Oh boy." Blue mutters, slipping past people to leave the theater, having no mind to deal with the boys obnoxious behavior. Just a minute after she sat down, Spot Conlon did too. They sat in silence for a while until Spot spoke up, "Why do you hate me?" Blue chuckled in response, "Why shouldn't I?"
She turned to look at the dirty blonde, gaze questioning. "I can be a good guy!" Spot argues as Blue busts out laughing. "You? As if! The only thing 'good' about you is how you and Brooklyn use slingshot's, but even then my boys and me are better." Spot huffed, crossing his arms, "You're insufferable." "I'm glad."
Blue smiled a smile that made Spots face heat up, but he hoped the darkness would hide it. Then, an old man who don't look too friendly starts heading into the theatre. "Hey mista, you ain't s'posed to be in there right now." Blue reminded, standing up and blocking the door, Spot standing up shortly after.
"Move it little girl." The unknown man pushes Blue away, her head hitting the wall as Spot stops her from hitting the ground and the man enters the building. "Hey, Blue, you ok?" Conlon asks, sitting Blue against the wall. "Ya," She winces as she brings her hand up to rub the forming bump, "Just hurts a bit, nothing I'se can't handle."
When they hear the clopping of horses, they both turn their heads and see the bulls heading their way. With a knowing look, they both run inside. "Jack!" Blue yells, searching frantically, but she instead finds Bolt. "Bolt! Get the younger boys out, the bulls are here!" She's frantic and the loud noise doesn't help her head but Bolt nods as Blue flees to search for Jack.
Just as she sees Jack run, she all hears the deafening whistle of the bulls, ringing in her head. Everyone started trying to leave, some staying and fighting. As Blue saw a bull trying to take one of her younger boys, she ran to them, pulling the man back and punching him right in the gut, then kneeing him in the face when he doubled over.
She didn't even see it coming, another man landed a punch right where she had hit her head just a few minutes before. She heard the faint call of her name, but she was unconscious before she even hit the ground. Spot saw red, charging at the man, swing his fist with all his might be picking up Blue and running.
He saw an open area and ran backstage, right out the back doors. "Please be okay." He whispered, gently setting her down on the ground before running back inside, praying she was okay
"All rise, all rise. Court is now in session. Judge E. A. Monahan presiding." Blue groaned quietly, holding the ice pack against her head. "Are any of you represented by a counsel?" The judge asked. Spot, Racetrack and Blue all shared confused looks. "No. Good, good. That'll move this along considerably."
"Hey, ya honor, I object." Spot spoke up. "On what grounds?" "On the grounds of Brooklyn, your honor." Everyone laughed, even Blue let out a giggle that had Spot glancing down at her. The judge banged his gavel, unamused by Spots behavior, "I fine each of you 5 dollars, or 2 weeks confinement at the House of Refuge."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hey we ain't got 5 bucks." "Hell, we ain't even got 5 cents!" Blue added on to Race's statement. "Hey your honor, how bout I roll ya for it? Double or nothing." Everybody laughed once again at Racetracks remark while the judge banged his gavel again. "All right, move along, move along."
"Your honor, I'll pay the fines," Everyone turned to see Denton enter the court room, "all of them." David entered as well, the 2 walking over to the others. The dull throb in Blue's head made her zone out, Denton words sounding miles away. She only zoned back in when she heard Race yell over to Jack.
The only thing Blue could focus on was the warmth that shot through her body when Spot grabbed her hand and lead her outside with the others, all heading to the restaurant. "Blue, get that ice pack back on ya head." Spot ordered when he saw Blue drop it on the table. "I'se fine, besides, my arm is hurtin'." She complained.
Everyone greeted Denton as he walked into the restaurant. "Why didn't the sun print the story?" David questions immediately. "Because it never happened." Everyone talked over each other in forms of confusion. "If it's not in the papers it never happened. The owners decreed that it not be in the papers, therefore..."
Blue could hear Spots heavy breathing, most likely of anger. "Anyways, I came to tell you fellas goodbye." Silence fell over the restaurant, nobody dared to speak. "What happened, did ya get fired?" David steps forward but Denton was quick to shoot down the idea. "No, I got reassigned back to my old job as the sun's ace war correspondent. They want me to leave right away. The owner thinks they should only cover really important stories so..."
David walked away in what seemed like disappointment. "They don't always fire you, David. I would be blackballed from every paper in the country," Denton tugged David's arm to get him to face him, "Hey, I'm a newspaper man. I have to have a paper to write for." David still stayed silent as Denton sighed, "This is the story I wrote about the rally. And, I want you to read it at least."
Denton took out a price of paper from inside his pocket, but David still remained quiet so Denton kinda forced the paper into his hand as he started leaving. "Bill," the waiter turned around, trying to tell Denton to keep it, "No, no, this should cover it." Denton handed the man some cash and left. David pushed off of the wall and crumpled the paper.
"God David, stop being an ass." Everyone turned to look at Blue, unready for her comment. "Excuse me?" David asked as Blue stood up. "You heard me. Denton had no control over being reassigned and he has to make money too. Boo hoo, we're not in the paper, suck it up and stop acting like a upset toddler."
Blue fiercely gazed at David, her annoyance evident. David shifted his gaze to the table infront of him. "We get Jack out of the refuge tonight. And from now on, we trust no one but the newsies." Everyone agreed, standing up and leaving. After leaving, Blue grabs David's wrist. "Hey, I'm coming with, rather you like it or not." She said, letting ho and walking away.
That night, her and the boys snuck past the Refuge gates following a carriage. David points to a lighted window, "That's where we saw Crutchy." A whistle blows and they all hide. Everyone could see it was Jack. "Where they takin' him Dave?" Mush asked as the loaded Jack into a carriage. "Only one way to find out," David took off his hat and waited for the carriage to leave." I'll meet you guys by the square."
As everyone watched David leave, Blue walked out, staring up at the window. "Aye, whaddya doin' Blue?" Race asked watching her intently. "Mush," The girl whipped around, staring at the tallest of the boys, "You're tallest, get me on your shoulders, Blink, I need the rope." Both boys nodded and walked over to her, Blink handing her the rope.
Mush bent down and helped Blue onto his shoulders, standing up and getting close to the wall. She tried throwing the rope up into the window bars, trying to get it to fall back down over something. When it did, she motion for Mush to set her down and he did. "Alright, which one of you'se is the strongest?" Mush, Blink and another raised their hands.
"Alright, your going to hold the rope still on this end while I climb up the other." The 3 nodded and walked over, grabbing the end of the rope. Blue grabbed the other end and used to Rope to help her scale the wall. When she reached the window, she nodded on it, a unknown kid opened the window. "Is anyone in here go by Radio?" She asked timidly.
The small girl looked sad, looking down. "Radio got real sick and died a few days ago." Blue's breath caught in her throat. She almost let go of the rope, everything slowing down. "T-thank you." Blue nodded and slid down the rope. Everyone's voices were fuzzed and Blue could feel the tears in her eyes. So she ran. She ran faster than she ever had before, faster than she thought she could go.
She ran until her legs gave out under her, right on the Brooklyn Bridge. Uncontrollable sobs ripped from her throat, everything seemed to disappear as she cried. She sobbed so loud she didn't even hear Spots footsteps, not even aware of his presence until he sat by her and puller her into his side. She started to hyperventilate, barely any air in her lungs.
"H-h-He was j-just a b-b-boy!" She subconsciously leaned into Spots comfort. "Hey, Blue, hey, calm down, easy does it." Her loud cries had slowly turned in small sniffles and tear stained cheeks. Spot slowly moved to sit in front of her, cupping her face in his hands. "Now," He brushed his thumb across her cheek, wiping away a tear, "Tell me what happened."
"He's gone." She choked out, her hands grabbing at her shirt, "He was to young to d-die. He was 8 Spot, 8! He shouldn't of died at 8! He was gonna become a writer! He was," She choked back another sob, her voice cracking as she spoke, "He was gonna write a book 'bout all of us." The last part came out as a broken whisper, so heartbroken it made his clench.
A small, broken sob left Blue's lips, leaning into Spots touch as he wiped her tears. "Come to my lodge with me. It too late for you to be walkin' back to Queens alone." Too tired to respond, she just simply nodded, eyes already drooping. She didn't say a word when Spot effortlessly pick her up, heading back to the Lodging House.
About half way there, Spot looked down at her to find her peacefully asleep, head resting against Spots chest, the smallest snores escaping her mouth. Spot let out a small chuckle, continuing the long walk back to his Lodging house.

Fred: Sorry. You know dogs. They go wherever they wanna go. Gru: Unless they're dead. [laughs] I'm joking! Although, it is true. Anyway, have a good one. Fred: Okay. Yeah. Steamrolling whatever Gru: [groans] You've got to be pulling on my leg! Margo: Hello! Cookies for sale. Gru: Go away. I'm not home. Margo: Uh, yes, you are. I heard you. Gru: [gasps] No, you didn't. This... [monotone] is a recording. Margo: [scoffs] No, it isn't. Gru: Yes, it is. [o.s.] Watch this. Leave a message, beep. [Edith kicks the door] Gru: Ow! Agnes: Goodbye, recorded message. Margo: [o.s.] Agnes, come on. Gru: Huh? [screams] Kyle! Bad dog! No! No, no. Sit. My muffin. Dr. Nefario: Gru! Gru: Ah, Dr. Nefario. Dr. Nefario: I know how you must be feeling. But am I upset? No, I am not! A little, but we have had a pretty good year ourselves, and you guys are all right in my book. Minion: Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Gru: No, no raises! You're not going to get any raises. What did we do? Well, we stole the Times Square JumboTron! Nice! That's how I roll. Yeah, you all like watching football on that, huh? But that's not all. We stole the Statue of Liberty, the small one from Las Vegas. And I won't even mention the Eiffel Tower! Also Vegas. Okay, I wasn't going to tell you about this yet, but I have been working on something very big! Something that will blow this pyramid thing out of the water! And thanks to the efforts of my good friend Dr. Nefario... Dr. Nefario: Thank you! Gru: There he is. He's stylin'. Now, we have located a shrink ray in a secret lab, and once we take this shrink ray, we will have the capability to pull off the 'true crime of the century. We are going to steal... The Minions all pull out their weapons in response. Gru: Wait, wait! I haven't told you what it is yet. One of the Minions, Dave, shoots his rocket launcher at a crowd of Minions. Gru: Hey. Dave, listen up, please! Dave: Ditto. One of the Minions Dave shot walks over to him and punches him on the shoulder. Gru: Next, we are going to steal, pause for effect, the moon! The Minions cheer in response. Gru: And once the moon is mine, the world will give me whatever I want to get it back! And I will be the greatest villain of all time! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. [picks up his phone] Yes? Dr. Nefario: Hello, Gru? I've been crunching some numbers, and I really don't see how we can afford this. It can't be done. I'm not a miracle worker. Gru:Hey, chillax. I'll just get another loan from the bank. They love me! Margo: Edith, stop it! Edith: What? I'm just walking. Girls: Hi, Miss Hattie. We're back. Miss Hattie: Hello, girls! Agnes: Anybody come to adopt us while we were out? Miss Hattie: Hmm... Let me think. No! Edith immediately puts a mud pie on Miss Hattie's desk, much to her displeasure. Miss Hattie: Edith! What did you put on my desk? Edith: A mud pie. Miss Hattie: [sighs] You're never gonna get adopted, Edith. You know that, don't you? Edith: Yeah, I know. Miss Hattie: Good. So, how did it go, girls? Well, you say that like it's a great sale day. [furious] Look at my face! Do you still think it's a great sale day? Edith rolls her eyes in response. Miss Hattie: [hangs up a portrait] Eighteen coco-nutties. I think we can do a little better than that, don't you? Yeah. We wouldn't want to spend the weekend in the Box of Shame, would we? No. Girls: No, Miss Hattie. Miss Hattie: Okay, good. Off you go. Go clean something of mine. Girls: Hi, Penny. Penny: Hi, guys. Gru: Hello, Mom. Sorry, I meant to call, but... Gru's Mom: I just wanted to congratulate you on stealing the pyramid. [Gru sighs in disgust] That was you, wasn't it? Or was it a villain who's actually successful? [laughs] Gru: Just so you know, Mom, I am about to do something that's very, very big, very important. When you hear about it, you're going to be very proud. Gru's Mom: Ha! [sarcastically] Good luck with that. Okay, I'm outta here. [hangs up the phone before sending her karate instructor flying] Gru: Gru to see Mr Perkins Receptionist: Yes, please have a seat. Neil Armstrong: That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Young Gru: Ma, someday I'm going to go to the moon. Gru's Mom: I'm afraid you're too late, Son. NASA isn't sending the monkeys any more. Vector: Hey. I'm applying for a new villain loan. Go by the name of Vector. It's a mathematical term, a quantity represented by an arrow, with both direction and magnitude. Vector! That's me, 'cause I'm committing crimes with both direction and magnitude. Oh, yeah! Check out my new weapon. Piranha gun! Oh, yes! Fires live piranhas. Ever seen one before? No, you haven't. I invented it. Do you want a demonstration? Shoot! So difficult, sometimes, to get the piranha back inside of my... Receptionist: Mr Gru, Mr Perkins will see you now. Gru: So, all I need is money from the bank to build a rocket. And then, the moon is ours. Perkins: Wow! Well, very nice presentation. I'd like to see this shrink ray. Gru: Absolutely! Will do. Soon as I have it. Perkins: You don't have it? And yet you have the audacity to ask the bank for money? Gru: Apparently. Perkins: Do you have any idea of the capital that this bank has invested in you, Gru? With far too few of your sinister plots actually turning a profit. How can I put it? Let's say this apple is you. If we don't start getting our money back... Get the picture? Look, Gru, the point is, there are a lot of new villains out there, younger than you, hungrier than you, younger than you. Like that young fellow out there named Vector. He just stole a pyramid! Gru: I've got it. I've got it. So, as far as getting money for the rocket... Perkins: Get the shrink ray, then we'll talk. Minion: Suckers! Suckers! Gru: We got it! What? Hey! Hey! What! Hey! No, no, no! You! Vectors: Now, maybe you'll think twice before you freeze someone's head! So long, Gru! Gru: Quick! We can't let him get away! Up ahead! Up ahead! Fire! Fire, now! Author’s Note:  Hello my lovelies!  I have to say, I love writing requests and taking part in Challenges.  It helps me sharpen my skills!  But, with the insane way the world is right now, I offered to participate in one... then lost the details.  So, with my sincere appreciation for @lancsnerd​ ,who kindly sent me a reminder about my missing “assignment”, I present the following! “Are you gonna tell me what I want to know?  Or… do we have to do this the hard way?”  Gravel filled and low, the Winter Soldier had you pinned against the rough brick wall, his metal arm holding your wrists together.
“Ooph!  Bucky!  Get off!”  “Make me, princess!”  
Kicking your legs free, you swung around Bucky, locking him in a bear hug from behind.  Squeezing him with your thighs, your forearms wrapped around his strong neck, “Tap out, Buck!” Wheezing, staggering back, Bucky tried spinning you around but even his metal arm was unable to grab you, “Never!” Applying more pressure to his windpipe, you grunted, “Give me the win!” “No way”, you felt his hard hand grip your thigh, breaking your hold.  Suddenly you were untethered, above your feet was the ceiling of the gym, and then there was no breath in your lungs.  Bucky had managed to flip you over and slam you down onto the waiting mat with reverberating force.  Gasping loudly, you curved up to meet Bucky’s waiting hand, “You alright, doll?”
Shaking your head, sitting up, “That was a dirty trick, Barnes.  I had you and you know it.” “Yea… but you still haven’t answered my question, so I couldn’t let you win.”  Pulling you to your feet easily, Bucky threw his arms around you, his warm hug an easy way to make sure there would be no lasting damage from your sparring session. “Why do you want to know so bad?”  Lowering yourself to the workout bench, forearms resting on your knees, you kept a close watch on your sparring partner. Tossing you a towel, Bucky grabbed both of your water bottles, sitting down on the mat in front of you.  Wiping the sweat away from your forehead, slugging down the cool water, you kicked at the super soldier sitting criss cross applesauce.  Leaning back, resting his weight on his arms stretched behind him, “Because...  I worry about you.  I want to make sure you’re safe… and I want to believe this guy is good enough for you.” Considering his words, you snapped your bottle shut, nodding, “I get it, Bucky.  I really do.  I’m just… not ready to talk about it.” Sensing your hesitation, Bucky patted your knee, “Just know that I’m here when you are ready.  And if he fucks up, I’ll kill him.” Laughing, you stood up with a groan, “Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind!” At dinner that night, Steve knocked into your shoulder, “Hey kiddo.”
“Hey Stevie!  How are you?” “It’s spaghetti night, what more does a guy need?”  It was an easy exchange, making you chuckle as he loaded a plate high with pasta and sauce before settling himself into the chair next to you. Unfolding a napkin to lay over his trousers, “Bucky told me you’ve met someone?” Flicking your eyes to the Winter Soldier, who all of the sudden was very interested in something Tony was saying, you munched on your garlic bread.  Swallowing thickly and patting your mouth clean, you turned to Steve, “Oh, he did huh?” “Yes… but he says you won’t give up this guy’s name?”  Concern was present on your friend’s face.  While you appreciated Steve's sentiment, it wasn't necessary, not entirely.  You knew what you were doing and you didn't want to be talked out of it, even by your well intentioned friends.
"I don't know why everyone cares so much.  He's a guy… I'm a girl… it's traditional and boring."
Swirling a fork through his saucy plate, lifting those dutiful blue eyes to yours, "So why the secrecy?"
Chewing, thoughtful, you considered Steve's question.  It was valid.  You were quick to acknowledge that, answering, "Um… because we're still in that love bubble.  Ya know?"
Chiming in, Bucky curious now, "Love bubble?  I don't know what that is… what does that mean?  Love bubble?"
"It's that time in a new relationship when… um… it's like…" words failing, you desperately tried to give structure to your argument.
Interrupted by Loki, sulking at the end of the long table, "She doesn't want to share her paramore.  Greedily, she wants to keep the pair in a love bubble.  Separate and safe from any interference.  Unpopped, if you will."
"Is that true? You don't want us to bug you?"  Bucky's eyes widened at the thought.
Shrugging, you dug around for another meatball, "Kinda… Look, it's not that I don't love you, Buck.  Or that I don't trust you, Steve.  It's just… all of you can be a lot to deal with.  And-" looking at the faces of each of your Avenger friends, "-my… guy… I really, really like him.  I don't want to scare him away."
Admitting it out loud, that was taking a lot of your courage but you were being completely honest.  This guy, he was just about perfect and you didn't want to blow that by bringing him around your overprotective people so soon.  Natasha, the group's mama bear, smiled.  "Seems reasonable to me.  Give her some time, fellas… if he's half as great as she says, we'll like him well enough."
Steve, smiling a little in your direction, "I don't know who he is… but it seems like he makes you happy!"
Bucky, over protective, kept hounding you, "When will I get to meet him?"
"Soon, Buck.  I promise." 
"I wonder who it is… this man you care about so much that you're protecting him from us, your dearest friends!"  It was Loki, musing from afar that made the observation, his sharp eyes on you.
"I told you-" It was Tony’s turn to interrupt, loudly calling, “FRIDAY?”
“Yes, Mr. Stark?” “Start a pool.  Five dollar buy in, guesses on who this guy is… whoever has the winning answer gets the kitty!” “Tony!  Not cool!  And, not necessary!  You guys don’t really need to do this!”  But your protests went unheard as chatter erupted and a round of bills were flung on the table. Steve, murmuring to Bucky across the table, “What was that guy at the coffee shop?  Cameron?  Carson?” Snapping his fingers, Bucky answered, “Carlton!”
“He’s my guess, Tony.”  “Shit, Steve.  That’s not fair… but, ok.  Ok, my guess is Matt.  That guy from the pizza place who kept bringing extra chicken fingers for you!  You’d never admit to a date with him!”  Bucky, smug and pleased, sat back content with his detective work.
“Natasha?  Thoughts?”  Tony was typing away, his interface with FRIDAY recording all the back and forth, compiling the list of possible boyfriend candidates. Tapping her lip, Nat watched you, “Hmm… Is it Warren?  The kid from China Star who rode the Kawasaki and always wanted to take you for a ride?”
Clint leaned over you, grabbing a breadstick as he threw down a ten, “I want to put Charles, from the IT department on the list… and Juan, the recycling rep.  Both of those guys follow you around like puppies and I could see you taking pity on at least one of them!” “Nope.  No way!  She went out with Charles once already.  He was the guy who ate her french fries at dinner.  Big No-No!”  “Rhodes, how do you remember that shit?  Fine, not Charles then.  What about Frankie?  The dude from the diner?”  Clint asked the assembled team, looking for someone to back him up.
Mortified, hiding behind your hands, you grimaced.  The list, it kept growing, and you could feel icy eyes of judgement lighting you up from across the room.  You knew you’d have to answer questions later.
Jane, having joined Thor at the table, was getting caught up on your situation.  Conspiring with her Norse God of a boyfriend, she chuckled, slapping a bill on the table with the announcement, “Our money is on Loki.”
Silence overtook the room.  Everybody stared at the small, brunette scientist, evaluating if her suggestion was real or a joke.  A guffaw broke out of you and quickly gathered steam, propelling you directly into a hiccup filled giggle fit.  In a flash everyone joined in, the idea of you and Loki being together was at once so hilarious and unbelievable. It was also diverting enough that the talk of your love life died completely.  Grateful and satisfied, you finished dinner without any other questions, even offering to do the dishes.  While you were scraping remnants into the compost bucket, you felt the room’s temperature drop, noticing that Loki had slid into the room, "Love bubble is it?"
Dropping the plates into the sink, plunging your hands into the soapy water, his strong ones glide over your shoulders, "Yes.  I'm really enjoying our little bubble of love."
“Me too.”  Pressing a small kiss to the curve of your neck, Loki pulled your body close, hugging you tightly from behind.  As Loki was nearly a foot taller than you, it was nothing to tip your head up, his welcome mouth finding yours for a soft kiss.  Curving your back, your bottom rubbed against his pelvis, his desire already rising. “Although, they had a lot of suggestions, my innocent little kitten.  Should I be worried?” Shaking your head, “No.  None of those… meatballs compare with you, Loki.” “Good.  That makes me glad… and I’m pleased to know how coveted you are, my pet.”  Roving hands took the liberty of sliding under the hem of your shirt, fingertips just grazing over your bra covered breasts.
Sighing into Loki’s loving touch, “Not that you were much help!"
"What can I say?  I like seeing you squirm"  his lethal voice purred, warm against your ear.
Pirouetting in his arms, your damp hand brushing back a strand of dark curls, "Jane almost gave us away.” A small smile, almost sad, pulled down Loki’s lips, “Is the idea of you loving me so hilarious?”
“Not to me.”
His head dipped, lowering those pink lips to your own, almost colliding… when laughter, drawing near, broke your moment of connection. Effectively ending your private chat, Thor stomped confidently into the room unaware of the way Loki jumped back as if scalded, or the way your hands trembled at the possibility of discovery.  “Brother!  I need to speak with you!” Flicking his desire filled eyes to yours, Loki smirked, “Of course… to what do I owe the honor?” “I have asked Jane to be my bride!” “Brother!  It’s about time Jane made an honest man out of you!”  Loki, more than a little surprised but genuinely pleased for his sibling, hugged Thor close.  “YAY!  That’s so exciting!  Have you guys picked a date yet?”  Wiping your hands dry, leaning against the sink, you were happy to hear all of Thor's big news. Shaking his blonde head excitedly, “We shall be wed in three months time… and I was hoping that Loki would play for our special day?” 
Loki, blushing a deep rosy pink, “Thor… It’s been years.” 
“So?  What of that, God of Mischief?  You always find a way”, wagging a finger at his dark hued brother, Thor’s teasing grin was sweet. Piling on excuses, trying to gently defer his brother’s marital request, Loki added, “I don’t think I have a suitable instrument.”
That was enough for your mouth to hang open, “Wait… you want Loki to perform?  Like play music?  At your wedding?”  “Of course!  He’s the best chamber musician in Asgard.  Possibly the entire Nine Realms.”  Pride filled Thor’s words at Loki’s accomplishments, something you found impossibly charming, even if you couldn’t quite believe what he said was true.  
“Thor, really… I don't think-" Clapping a broad hand onto his younger brother's shoulder, Thor’s tone changed, “Music from home, Loki. It would mean so much, especially since… Mother and Father-”  
Loki held up a hand, stopping Thor from going further into emotional sincerity, unable to bear the rawness in his brother’s words.  Closing his eyes, agreeing, “Fine.  Ok, I’ll… I’ll do it!’  Loki could sense your watchful eyes on him, curious and questioning, as he gave into his older brother.    
With his easy smile spreading, Thor’s joy pushed the cloud of sadness away, “Our special day will be filled with music!  And flowers!  Jane has a whole… Pinterest board?  I don’t know what that is but she’s filled it with ideas-” spinning around to grab you off your feet, Thor continued, “And you’ll be invited too!  All of the team must come, not just my wayward brother!” Getting swept up in Thor’s passionate excitement, you laughed, offering up more congratulations and promises of attending.  As your toes touched the floor, Thor pulled Loki away, “Jane says you will take Darcy as a date for the ceremony.” Tilting his head, Loki shrugged shyly, speaking loud enough for you to hear, “Uh… actually, I already have a date.” Gripping Loki in a rib smashing hug, Thor squeezed his little brother tightly, “That is marvelous news!  Jane will be so pleased!  So, who’s the lucky girl?” Smiling, you watched them go, happy to see the pair so connected.  You didn’t need to hear Loki’s answer.  You knew who he’d be taking to Thor’s wedding.
That night, as you were toweling dry your cropped hair, a pop of green light signaled the arrival of your secret boyfriend.  He was positively electric, grabbing you by the terry robe covered hips, and kissing you swiftly.  Loki's hands rubbed over the soft fabric on your back until they cradled your smiling face, "Hmm… you smell so clean that it makes me think dirty thoughts."
Giggling, you rose up on your toes, curling your hands into his tangle of dark hair.  You bent his waiting mouth to your own, savoring the sensation of shared breath, as your tongue flicked over Loki's lips, “Dirtier than that?” Nodding, his heated look hungry, “Oh yes.” "How dirty are we talking?", you teased, resting your cheek against Loki's chest.  His rich laugh, rumbling through his core, joined your own.  Pressing his forehead to yours, Loki sighed sweetly, "I missed you…"
"I just saw you at dinner!"
"But it's been too long.  I… I need more."
Turning to hang up your towel, over your shoulder, "More what, my prince?"
"More of you."  Having gained on you while your back was turned, Loki was behind you now, wrapping his long arms around your waist.
Squealing, delighted, "LOKI!  Someone will hear!"
Dropping you quickly on the mattress, Loki shimmied up beside you, toying with the open collar on your robe, "So?"
"So… they'll find you here."
Thoughtfully, Loki’s proud look captured your own, "Maybe I don't care.  Not anymore… Maybe I don't want to keep you and me… us, a secret."
Swallowing hard, your gaze trapped by Loki's earnest expression, "Really?  You're ready to pop the love bubble?"
His fingertips brushed over the thin skin between your breasts, "Yes?  I… I think so.  Are you?"
Biting on your bottom lip, scrutinizing his handsome face, "Loki, I…"
Freezing, his hand stalled, and Loki sat back on his heels.  Looking out your window, shoulders slumping in resignation, "You don't want to tell anyone.  You are ashamed to be with me."
Swiftly sitting up, cupping his face with your hands, crooning, "No, no, no, no, no, no!"
Shrugging away from your touch, "You don't care for me, not like you claim to, if you won't declare your feelings for all to hear."
"Loki!  That's not it at all."  
Letting you tug him closer, Loki's tear filled eyes still refused to meet your own, "Loki… I… I love you.  And… I just don't want to share you.  Not yet, anyway.  That is-" putting your arms around his neck until you were nose to nose with the red-rimmed eyes of an emotional Odinson, "-my only reason for keeping our romance quiet."
Whispering, Loki was too shocked to shake you off, "You… love me?"  His voice wavered, as if the idea of being loved by you had never been a real possibility, as if something impossible was occurring right here and now.
On your knees, sighing, you started pressing tiny kisses along those sharp as knives cheekbones, "Yes.  I am crazy in love with you, Loki Odinson."
Loki had held you tightly before; in the night when terrific dreams haunted his sleep, in the night when he claimed your body for his own.  But this embrace, after telling the dark Prince the truth in your heart, had no equal.  
Still taller than you, even though you were both kneeling, Loki's right arm wove around your waist forcing your hips flush with his own.  His left supported your back, his hand cradling the nape of your neck, helping him kiss you soundly.  It was conquering.  
You were his.  Body and soul.  What's more?  He was yours.
Coming up for air, panting from the work of loving you, "My dove, my dearest one… I love you too."
Shucking your robe was easy and Loki savored the lavender soap scented skin he exposed.  If a spot of you wasn’t kissed, it was licked. If not licked, nipped.  If not nipped, it was caressed.  And Loki was very thorough. When you mewled, weak from forced pleasure, “Loki… please.  Make love to me.” he was eager to comply. “Look at me, darling girl.”  Puffing out your pleasure filled breath, skin dewy with perspiration, you met Loki’s eyes with your own.  Resting his hand over your heart, he lifted your own, letting you feel the pattern of his pulse.  “It beats for you and for you alone.” In the afterglow, laying in Loki’s arms, you stifled another giggle.  Groggy from exertion, Loki opened one eye, “What’s so funny?” “You never told me you play a musical instrument.” “You never asked.”
“Are you any good?”
“You’ll find out when you accompany me to Thor’s wedding.” --- With his heavy cello, Loki took a seat on the edge of the dance floor, taking just a moment to get settled.  A beautifully strange combination of concentration and relaxation mingled over the features you loved so dearly.  Fiddling with strings, taking a moment to tune the instrument, you admired his long, talented fingers as they took their place on the frets. The din of conversation was silenced when the first low note of Loki’s song echoed through the ballroom.  Everyone paused, entranced at the melody weaving its way through the throng of well wishers.  Many were surprised, but not you, not entirely. You knew how long Loki had been preparing for this moment.  It wasn’t all about making Thor’s day special, although, that was surely part of it.  No, he planned to seduce every single person with sound.  Giving all of the attendees a taste of what being loved by Loki was like, he hoped The Avengers would see that he was worthy of you in all ways. Mesmerized, the bow danced over the strings, each note perfectly played.  It wasn’t hard to picture those shapely digits dancing over your skin in the dark of night.  Sending a shiver up your back, you sipped at your champagne, unwilling to take your eyes off of Loki. “I didn’t know he was so talented.”  Bucky, stiff in his tuxedo, sidled up to you with Steve in tow. “Me either.  Look at those fingers fly!” “Guys… hush.”  Shooting a silencing glare their way, you let the music transport you, swaying just a bit at the soothing sound. Too soon, in your opinion, the last lingering note of Loki’s song filled the hall.  Rising swiftly, Loki bowed at the applause, then turned to the happy couple.  Thor hugged his brother close, while Loki kissed Jane’s hand with a gentlemanly air.  Conversations started again, quiet at first, then gaining strength as Loki strode across the room.  Snagging a glass of champagne from a passing tray, his eyes trained on you, Loki accepted accolades as he moved ever closer.  Another server took his empty glass as Loki finally made his way to you.
Scooping you up, Loki spun you slowly in a circle, your gown snapping behind you in an emerald wave of chiffon and lace.  “Loki!  Come on, put me down!” “As my lady commands”, when your mouth passed close enough to his own, Loki kissed you as if you had never kissed before.  You pushed your hands through his dark locks, a hand on each side of his face, “You were amazing, babe.  Just amazing!”
“You really think so?” “Absolutely!”  His arm settled on your waist, keeping you tight to his side, as you were handed another glass of bubbly.
Bucky, leaning against Steve, wore a look of wide eyed shock, “Um.  Loki… what the fuck are you doing?"
"Agent Barnes, do I really need to explain?"
Mouth dropping open, Bucky gaped, "He’s the guy?  Really?  You’re telling me Loki is the guy?” “She’s not telling us, Buck… she’s showing us.”
“But Stevie…?  Loki?  You?  You’re the guy who makes her happy?  The one who she’s been covering for?” Pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead, just a touch guilty, “I am.  And, I’m madly in love with her.” “I’m happy Bucky.  Stevie… really.  Loki is… he’s my everything.  I love him, too.”  
As your secret was outed, the group formed a circle around you and Loki.  Questions were shouted, congratulations extolled, Loki was clapped on the back more than once.  Natasha gave you a wink and the "ok", which was really all the approval you needed. 
“So, who won the pool then?”, Clint couldn’t help asking. “Me… and Thor”, the bride stepped right up to Tony with her hand out ready to take the prize money. “No fair!  He’s your brother in law now.  He probably told you!”  Rhodey chimed in, unsatisfied with the final results. Defending her methods, Jane spun in her wedding dress, “No way!  I used my powers of scientific deduction.  I knew she was head over heels for Loki the night we announced our engagement.” Wondering, you looked at Jane, “You did?  How?  I mean, I didn't tell anyone.  We didn't tell anyone ” “You didn't have to!  You two wouldn’t look at each other.  Dead give away.”  Counting her cash, Jane smiled at you. “That may be true, but I promise you this, Odinson… break her heart and I’ll kill you.”  Bucky shook Loki’s hand good naturedly, if a little too long, stopping only when Steve pulled him away. Gazing down at you, adoration evident in his face, Loki husked, “Not to worry, Agent Barnes.  She has my heart you see... and I plan to be her guy as long as she’ll have me.”

Love Hurts - pt. 6

A/N: I wrote the first version of this like days ago but I hated it so much that I felt like I needed to re-write it and I did so here yall go. Hope you like it.

Fred woke up with a massive headache. He tried to pull his sleep further on but the headache was too strong to fall back asleep. He groaned into the pillow and kept his head buried in it, weirdly finding something unfamiliar going up his nostrils. It wasn’t the usual smell of the fabric softener his pillow case has but it was different and didn’t take a lot of time and contemplating to figure out to who it belong to. 
You. 
Memories rushed into his head without any warning. He cringed as he remembered his pathetic-self, throwing up over the bathroom seat and feeling you rubbing his back. 
It was all so foggy to him. He couldn’t remember more than you and him hugging. For him begging you to wait until he fell asleep. 
“You bloody git.” he mumbled into the pillow case before dragging himself to the bathroom and taking a showed.

Oddly enough, he did make to breakfast in last minutes and odder than that, you were seated next to Angelina and his friends. Your hair was a bit messy from last night’s hairstyle and some traces of makeup were still there. Nevertheless, you were extremely happy and your eyes- your gorgeous eyes were sparkling like never before when they locked with his. 
“Moooorning.” George said as he saw his brother approaching, grinning at him. 
“Morning.” Fred rubbed his eyes and sat down, reaching for his breakfast. 
“You slept well? Because I surely did not, hearing you pull in massive snores like a piglet on crack.” his eyes narrowed but everybody else laughed.
Fred took a bite in his toast, glanced at you with a smile, then turned to George. “I was itty bitty tired.”
“You left early.” Angelina interrupted and everybody looked at her. “And George said you were already fast asleep when he came back.”
“And when did George come back?” you leaned forward, looking at George. 
“When did you?” he narrowed your eyes back at you. 
‘--- Fred fell asleep and you were tiptoeing back to your dorm. The image of him still lingering in your mind, you had a lovely smile plastered on your lips but when you came down from the boys dormitories, George came down from the girls dormitories. 
The two of you stood like stones, staring at each other as both of you were caught. 
It was three in the morning. 
“I won’t tell if you won’t tell.” he said and you smiled.
“Deal.” the two of you shook hands and walked by as nobody ever saw anything. ---’ 
“Not telling.” you grinned cheekily and George did the same, both mirroring each others body language; crossing your arms over your chest and looking away. 
“How about you, (y/n)?” Angelina nudged you a bit and smiled. 
“What about me?” 
“I mean- I saw what happened between you and your fit date. He ran after you and never came back. I assumed he apologised and made it work?” she grinned with a wink but you only gave a quick glance to Fred’s confused expression and laughed.
“He only apologised to me this morning, before I came over here.” you smiled. “I forgave him, of course. I do know him since I was a kid, baby even.” 
“Oh, so you didn’t spend the night with him?” her face was a bit flushed and you couldn’t analyze fast enough to figure out why.
“No.” was all you replied with before Fred cut the silence and asked.
“Why would he apologise?” he tried to play it cool but his eyes were soley focused on you. 
“Nothing big really. He got a bit too grabby and I just slapped him and stormed off.” 
“Grabby?” Fred stopped chewing, swallowing hard and clenching his jaw. 
“I thought you fancied him?” Angelina said more sternly, angrily too. 
“I’ve known him since we were five. He was my cousin’s best friend. We used to drag each other through the mud for my cousin’s attention.” you laughed. “Cute fella but I just- no.” you shook your head, blushing.
“But aren’t you Muggleborn?” George asked.
“Yeah, ironic that we both are.” you looked over your shoulder to find him laughing with his friends. “He’s a good guy.” 
“But he’s... grabby.” Fred’s eyes were staring into yours with jealous flames and he couldn’t help himself but to feel anger bubble in his stomach. 
“Yeah...” you trailed off and grabbed your books. “I- uh- I need to get these books to the library before it closes. It’s Sunday after all.” you smiled at everybody and waved them a goodbye.
“But it closes in an hour.” Fred said all of a sudden, taking his glare away from your date on the other side and to you. 
“I know, Freddie. That’s why I’m going now.” you smiled and wandered off. 
Freddie. You said Freddie. Not Fredrick, not Fred and for Merlin’s sake not George or Ron but Freddie.

“So you’re not cross with me anymore, are you?” he poked his head through the other side of the shelf and grinned. 
“What makes you think that?” you smiled back, pushing his head on the other side and walking down the aisle. 
“You called me Freddie.” he said as he walked along side you, until the two of you reached the end and he was backing you against the bookshelves. “You call me Fredrick, when you are pissed at me, George when you want to push my buttons and piss me off and Ron when you’re feeling pretty vindictive.” he kept smiling, looking down on you as you rolled your eyes. “ But you only call me Freddie when you are utterly, ubelievably in love with me.” he spoke low, in a seductive manner. 
“Then why ask the question when you already know the answer.” you replied, narrowing your eyes. “And I think that is an exaggeration. Utterly, unbelievably in love with you?” you scoffed, pushing him away and walking to Madam Pince. “Like you said, Fred-”
“Freddie.” he corrected you, lifting up his finger and keeping his cocky grin on. 
“- I am not a mean person.” you laughed, looking at him before turning to Madam Pince and giving her the books to check out. “And holding on to anger is pointless.” 
“But I never apologised.” Fred’s grin fell and his eyes saddened. 
You were already at the door when you heard his voice and turned around. “What?”
“For... you know... saying what I said.”he lowered his head in shame but you only smiled.
“Oh, you apologised alright.” you continued smiling at him, grabbing his hand and pulling him behind you. 
“When?” he furrowed his eyebrows in perplexion but kept looking at your hands holding each other. 
“Last night.” you pulled him to the bench and plopped down. 
He followed. “Well, darling, last night is a bit foggy to me if you must know.”
“Oh, I believe so.” your eyes sparkled. “You asked me to be with you until you fell asleep-”
“Oh Merlin-” he sunk in his seat and blushed but you only giggled and nudged his shoulder a bit. 
“It’s okay for a guy to be vulnerable, Freddie.” you laughed again and just that laugh unlocked a little memory in his head; you were laying in front of him with your eyes watching his and your hand on his cheek, caressing it gently. You wore his sweater over your dress and you weren’t covered like he was. He mumbled something and you let out the same laugh as you did right now. 
‘--- The glitter from your eyeshadow was all over your cheeks and your mascara was a bit smudged from rubbing your eyes when you were tired. 
“You called me Freddie.” he said, smiling and finding your smile grow as well. “I missed that.” 
“You missed me calling your name?” you laughed, tucking your hands under your pillow. 
“It’s special when you say it.” he mumbled sleepily. 
“I’ll pin that down.” you spoke softly as he closed his eyes and pulled in a light snore. 
“I’m really sorry.” he said just before he opened his eyes again and put his hand on your cheek, tucking behind one of the curls that fell from your bun. “For calling you a word I promised myself I would never use... and for calling you barmy in the head.” 
You laughed and put your hand on top of his, rubbing your thumb across the back of his. “It’s okay.”
“Is it?” he asked, staring into your eyes. “Will you forgive me?” 
“Of course, I forgive you Freddie.” you said and he smiled again at that word. 
“I missed that.” he repeated himself and you laughed again.
“Me calling you Freddie? You said.”
“It’s special when you say it.” he repeated again and closed his eyes, trying to keep them open for you. 
His hand fell from your cheek as he dozed off and slowly you reached for his cheek, rubbing it gently. “Goodnight, Freddie.” you slowly got up and made your way to the door. “Sleep well.” ---’
Fred watched you tell the story as if you hadn’t felt any emotions in it but he felt you feeling them just as much as he did. And you may have finished quickly but he knew what happened. He remembered. 
His heart was fluttering and he knew what that meant. It meant he was the one utterly, unbelievable in love with you. 
He fell in love the day of the second practice, not the first but the second, when the two of you danced together. His hands would lock with yours, his feet move alongside your tip toes because he was extremely taller than you... and in that moment, exactly that moment when he spun you around, your hair clip fell down your hair and got stuck on the edges, letting those front hair fall in front of your face. He twirled you back to him and you were panting with your cheeks red and your eyes scared... and bright. They were so bright and looking up at his like a full moon on a cloudy night. He had you in his hands, in his hold and it was all so magical until the two of you parted ways and he knew he didn’t want to.
That day. That moment. He knew but he did not want to admit it.
“Thank you for staying.” he put his hand on top of yours and you turned your eyes to him, smiling.
“Of course.” you nodded with a smile, then pulled your hand away and stood up. “It’s what friends are for.” you continued and his smile immediately fell. 
“A what?”
“Friends?” you smiled with a quirk of your eyebrow. “I’m not that dense, Freddie. I know you have the hots for Angelina and I say go for it. I’ll survive. I’m a big girl.”
But Fred felt as if his brain was scrambled by that one word. He wanted to speak but his mouth were sown shut. 
“See you tomorrow in class.” you put your hand on his cheek and left- left him behind, confused and dazed, both from your words and your touch. 
“Friends?” he leaned forward, feeling frustration kick in. “Bloody friends-?!” he stood up and watch you turn around the corner and disappear. He put his hands on the back of his head and ran them through his hair. “I’ll show you friends.”

Babe:

(you blush so hard and are just like Babe, we’re at work stahp it but he dgaf).
It’s embarrassing and always makes Martin glare so imploringly at you that you’ll go over to Babe just to make him be quiet. Because, you know, YOU’RE AT WORK. 
This bitch is shameless when it comes to loving on you, having once come to stand next to you when Sink was giving an important announcement and straight-up PINCHED. YOUR. ASS. 
how you didn’t yelp is a miracle, and how no one else seemed to notice was equally astounding 
(oh, the boys noticed. They kinda shipped it tho, so it was more a matter of hiding their joy). 
Needless to say, it only happened the once, something you made Babe swear after you pulled him aside and punched him in the arm. 
Don’t worry, you kissed it better.
Roe: 
bb boy doesn’t say anything at first, 
the smile he saves just for you is playing at his lips as you walk up to meet him, tho.
The moment you’re close enough that he can smell the  sweet mint of your gum, he’ll whisper something sweet like “hey you” or “mon amor”, or maybe just your name 
(bc let’s be honest, his accent is 10 out of 10 and he could read me the dictionary and I’d still rock an ugly giggle/snort combo). 
If it’s a more serious situation, like if you’re hurt oh lordy
he will literally shout your name until either you shout back or someone tells him where you are. 
I could see him being a face holder, in the sense that he does it to reassure himself that you’re okay and make sure he has your undivided attention. 
Since getting injured in Carentan, you hadn’t been as close to the frontlines as you had been, so when you were needed you are REALLY NEEDED, 
and even if he didn’t like it Gene knew you were the best at what you did. 
Gene also feels better if he knows where you are.
 Even when you eventually return to Easy, he will feel better knowing which Foxhole you’re in, and knowing he’s seen to it your first aid kit was fully stocked.
Liebgott: 
THAT FUCKER’S SMIRKING AT YOU SO OPENLY that whoever he had been talking to instantly goes 
*sigh* y/n’s just came in, didn’t she? 
And he won’t even ANSWER because he’s already shoving past them to walk up and eye you with obvious satisfaction. 
“Bout time you showed up,” he’d say casually, hands finding your hips giving them a quick squeeze. 
“Sooner we get briefed, sooner we can get outta here.” 
(You’re not fully sure what ‘getting outta here’ entails, but if the way he looked at you was any indication, you had a feeling it didn’t involve anything less than PG-13 sexy times.)
Bull: 
“Hey, little lady.”
He’ll say it no matter how tall or short you are, how wide or how narrow.
He will always say it to you that when you first see each other in the morning 
(sometimes, you wake up to Hey, little lady being kissed into the soft skin behind your ear.) 
(Once while on a 48 hour pass, he’d woken you up that way in a REAL bed and the two of you had nearly gotten him sent up Curahee for being late coming back because you’d ended up spending more time in that bed than either of you anticipated Whoops)
(Even if he had been late, he definitely wouldnt have minded, tbh. He fully considered going AWOL if it mean neither of you had to leave the bed)
but throughout the day he’s more concerned about getting his hands on some part of you whenever the two of you had been apart- 
even if it was for like five minutes. 
Nothing over the top- holding his arm up and out so you can step into his side, a press of his lips to your temple. 
Idk guys i just feel like he’d just love you so much that everyone would be able to see, which they do and they all think it’s fucking cute
Buck: 
He doesn’t always call out when he sees you, mostly because your eyes always seem to find his. 
The two of you could be across a field from one another with a thousand angry Germans between you, guns blazing, and the two of you would always spot each other like two honing beacons. 
If its downtime and you guys don’t have to be on your guard he’ll ABSOLUTELY wolf whistle in at you, 
You’ll see a stupid grin lighting up his face as he nods in your direction. 
“Take a look, boys. I think we’ve got ourselves a…” 
and he always waits until you’re close enough that he can wrap a quick arm around your waist and pat your hip. 
“Certified babe-asaurus!” 
(in a foxhole somewhere, a wild Babe’s head pokes up in confusion). 
You groan and boo him, and whoever he was with inevitably ends up booing him too.
But he doesn’t care because seeing you smile makes him so happy you guys.
Lipton: 
If you’re in public, he will quietly step up beside you and place his hand gently between your shoulder blades.
He’s not super into PDA, which you didn’t mind because what he didn’t show in physical touch he more than made up for in open admiration. 
He is in awe of you 
sometimes he worries you forget how highly he thinks of you, how highly everybody thinks of you 
(you don’t forget, but he’s just one of those people who will get intrusive thoughts like that and sometimes has a hard time shaking them so plz just let him say it ok?)
so he always whispers some praise with his greeting 
(Hey, beautiful...Doin’ okay, love?...What’re you thinking, brilliant girl?). 
It’d probably seem like overkill if anyone else did it but Carwood is just so goddamn sincere that you can’t help but duck a quick kiss to his shoulder. 
HOWEVER! 
If you two kids are alone….

He is handsy, coming up and caging you with his arms, 
probably pulling you close quickly so you lose your balance and he can hold you a lil bit.
(He likes to sweep you off your feet im so sorry)
 That’s when his praises are hushed and sighed between long slow kisses. 
Nixon: 
Like Liebgott, he’s a snarky motherfucker who will get the most self-satisfied grin on his face the moment he sees you, instantly turning on the famous Lewis Nixon charm ( something he’d long since decided belonged to you and you alone.)
“Uh oh,” he’d say, looking you up and down before raising an eyebrow.
(bc your hot but also he doesn’t want to get all flirty if you’re hurt or sick or something’s up bc ur not just something to flirt with- YOU ARE A BADASS WITH BADASS RESPONSIBILITIES AND THAT WAS SOMETHING HE very often and sometimes FOUND SO HOT THAT IT MADE HIM THINK HE MAY HAVE AN AUTHORITY FETISH this has been a PSA) 
“Here comes trouble.”
you roll your eyes, the behavior you once found cocky and arrogant having becoming endearing somewhere between Toccoa and England. 
He has absolutely no qualms about PDA (verbal or physical), so it’s up to you to reign him in 
(especially if he’s a lil tipsy, poor Luz didn’t need to hear Lewis’s sloppy and shameless plea for you to let him eat you out on top of piano he’d found in the attic of the billet he’d been assigned. You weren’t able to look at George for a week without wanting to die of embarrassment and Lewis Nixon didn’t get any for two weeks. He was sure to never make such a mistake ever again) 
And Dick had probably grown blind to how Lewis liked to pull you his lap and run his hands up and down your thighs while you played with his hair. 
Also, like Lipton, he probably saves the more explicit acts of PDA for when the company has scheduled downtime 
(but only bc you told him he needed to keep it in his pants any other time he tried to get cute with you)
but you can bet your ass his hand will always try to tap it (your ass, that is.)at least once
a day when he isn’t supposed to.
That’s when you get to punish him whoopsies
Dick: 
since the day you were introduced to Dick in Georgia, the boy always made sure to stand when you entered a room and will call you “ma’am”,
(you know, LIKE HE DOES ONLY BECAUSE HE HAS TO FOR SOBEL BC RANKS. I feel like he has a “we salute the woman, not the rank” speech queued up for anyone who tried to give him shit for it BUT THAT’s JUST ME)
but he has a knowing look in his eye that makes the term ‘ma’am’ feel anything but impersonal.
It confused the shit out of replacements, who would automatically stand because their superior officer (that would be Big Dick Winters) did- only to see you standing there in your fatigues with a coffee in each hand with a look of mutual confusion on your face. 
(bc while they like you, but they’re confused still bc while you’re a boss ass bitch,  you didn’t outrank him...or at least they theink you dont?) 
Babe had been the one to ask you about the longing looks and lingering glances, and when you didn’t know how to answer him you’d gone to Nixon, 
He’d burst into tearful laughter and was unable to get it together enough to explain anything.
Dick had been the one to bring it up the next time they were alone, weirdly enough, as she proofread his report for errors that didn’t exist. 
Because you warrant it, he’d said when pressed for a reason why he greeted her like a ranking officer, looking down at his boots as they both blushed like teenagers at a school dance. 
After that, he still stood wherever you walked in
but now he made a point to brush his fingers against yours at some point during the time you were together. 
He’s the definition of a slow burn friends-to-lovers story, and boi can get spicy LEMME TELL YOU.

with christmas fast approaching and your ebenezer scrooge vibe stinking up the loft you shared with your best friends, they finally lost all patience and took it upon themselves to drag your grumpy ass out of the comfort of the loft and into the car for some good old-fashioned retail therapy at the mall.

“shut up, you’re going shopping and you’re gonna love it. maybe you could even buy a vibrator and go to town on yourself so you stop being such a cunt.”
“tell me how you really feel,” you grumbled, lowering into your seat so you were at the optimal position for window gazing.

“bergara, you’re late… again” steven tsk’ed in annoyance, he wasn’t getting paid enough to deal with ryan’s shit, and also, he fucking reeked of stale beer. he was pretty sure the stain on his costume was also beer, or beer adjacent (enter whisky).
“better late than never, now let’s make some fucking wishes come true, huh?” he rubbed his hands together mischievously and walked out to his spot on santa’s throne. yeah. steven definitely wasn’t getting paid enough for this shit.
“HO HO HO BOYS AND GIRLS ITS ME, SANTA!” steven sighed, shook his head and plastered a smile on his face before running out to his position as head elf.

“fellas i’ve changed my mind, i’m ready to get in the holiday spirit” you said in an attempt to declare a truce, maybe it wasn’t too late to back out of this.
“not only are you a grinch, but you’re also a goddamn, dirty liar. you need this” your best friend retorted, not at all impressed. you think you need new friends, this one’s defective and can call all your bullshit.
you sighed in defeat and allowed them to drag you through the entrance of the mall for what would be a torturous five hours of christmas shopping.

“santa’s going to take a quick break, and then he’ll be right back! everybody say bye santa!” steven said to all the children and their accompanying parents while ryan stumbled out of his throne and back into the dressing room (tent).
steven pulled back the door to the tent and found ryan chugging straight from a whisky bottle that was nearing empty.
“nice one santa, maybe try not to fall on your ass this time. i can only say santa’s a bit clumsy because he can’t see over his beard so many times.”
“yes dear, i’ll be a good boy from now on” ryan replied in a drunken stupor.
“jesus christ, is that bottle from today?” steven asked, ignoring ryan’s smartass comment.
“you bet your sweet ass it is.”
steven sat in weighted silence as ryan chugged down the rest of the whisky bottle. the uniform he had to wear was unbearably itchy, not to mention thick (which makes him sweaty), and worst of all, he had to babysit ryan through the rest of the holidays. he was disgruntled to say the least - what was usually his favourite time of year was soured because his best friend was broken-hearted over a friends with benefits situation gone wrong, thus drinking himself into a fucking hot mess while he was meant to be lying about the miracle of christmas to gullible, doe-eyed children while their parents paid for their kid to sit on the lap of a stranger. happy fucking holidays.
he glanced at the clock, and then back at ryan who was staring into space, completely disconnected from reality.
“breaks over, santa. knock ‘em dead” he said in what he hopes was an encouraging tone. he was met with a slurred grunt, which he’d have to accept as an answer. he watched as ryan gathered himself up and stumbled his way out of the tent. steven prayed to whatever god was looking down on him to have mercy on him, and also on ryan’s liver which was surely taking hella damage.

“dude can we go home now? i’m literally out of money” you pleaded to your roommates. your feet were sore from standing for so long, your mouth was dry from the giant soft pretzel you’d snacked on earlier and to be honest, you were fucking exhausted from being around people for so long. your social battery could only last for so long and you were riding the last of that sweet sweet juice on 2%.
“in a minute” was all the answer you got. after 20 not minutes, according to your best friend anyway, passed you exited the store in a huff, leaving all your shopping bags unattended in the cart. you exhaled a long breath and thought about all the reasons you loved your friends and how you’d miss them if they suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth.
just as you allowed yourself to get swept away in your thoughts, a bellowed HO HO HO caught your attention. not fucking santa. god, you’d forgotten that malls hire any random dude off the street once a year to play santa and let all the good little boys and girls of this shit piss town sit on his lap and tell them what they want for christmas.
i’ll tell you what i want for christmas, santa. some fucking dick, you thought to yourself. you make the decision to glance over in the direction of this years holiday shmuck, entertaining the idea of getting a good laugh out of the pervy old man sitting on old saint nicks throne. you’re surprised however, to find a young looking guy, fucking fit, manspreading on santa’s seat.
were all the old men of the world too busy to play santa this year? who is this guy?
your questions unfortunately received no answers as your roommates finally decided to make an appearance outside the store.
“we’re done— uh…. are you checking out santa?”
“no the fuck i’m not” you replied, just a tad too fast.
“dude ew oh my godddd, since when do you like old men?”
“he’s literally not old, look.” you point over towards the christmas display so that your friends too could appreciate the view that is new hot santa.
“i think we should take a family photo with santa” your best friend mused, a shit eating grin plastered across their stupid face.
“no, i refuse. no” you reply, but your words fall on deaf ears. the three bastards you call roommates are already dragging you over to the queue of children waiting to see santa.
“you can’t make me!” you shout, catching the attention of several disproving mothers. they let go of you once you’re situated in the queue, and your best friend says that they’ll wait in line with you until it’s your turn.
“i hate this, i hate it here, i hate you…do you hate me? is that why i’m here?” you ask.
“you don’t get to be a jackass just because some asshole jock broke your heart. and you don’t get to be an even bigger asshole on christmas just because your parents got divorced when you were a kid. this is our first holiday as a loft family and you’re ruining it.”
you don’t reply after that, what could you even say? what would you even say?
“next please!” the head elf called out to you.
“don’t forget to smile!” your best friend said to you, then patted you on the back and left the queue.
“i don’t mean to rush you but santa is on a tight schedule, please come up if you’re ready for your picture” the head elf said to you, looking you directly in the eyes.
you nodded, embarrassed, and made your way up the stairs as fast as you could. your senses were hit with the scent of whisky and stale beer. talk about christmas spirit. santa was still seated while manspreading, and you realise now it’s because he’s fucking tanked.
“well hey there pretty girl” santa greets you, a wicked grin on his face.
“hi santa” you reply, not moving toward him.
“why don’t you come over here and sit on santa’s lap and we’ll talk about the first thing that pops up” he chuckles. your face flushes pink. you clear your throat uncomfortably and fill in the final gaps till you were sat on santa’s lap.
“now that’s a good girl. why don’t you tell me what you want for christmas, baby?” santa says, his tone a chilling purr in your ear. he takes the chance and pushes a loose strand of hair behind the same ear he’d just whispered into.
“santa—“ you start.
“yeah?”
“i just want a man to take care of me and my… needs” you muse, a slight smile gracing your face.
“and what needs would those be, little girl?” you watched as santa’s eyes darkened while they bore into yours. god he was so fucking hot.
“let’s just say… it’d be a christmas miracle if any man could make me cum this holiday season” you pouted. you felt santa harden in the slightest underneath you, a low growl leaves his mouth, concealed by the ridiculous santa beard.
“how about you let santa take care of you, huh, sweet girl? i wanna give you this present myself.” you moaned quietly into his ear.
“say cheese!” the head elf said, pulling the both of you out of the trance of your conversation. you both smiled at the click and then turned back to each other.
santa slipped you a piece of paper and you pocketed it immediately. “my shift ends in an hour, meet me at the address on that note?”
“only if you wear the costume” you smirk at him.
“god i’m gonna fuck you so good.”

Kitty: Oh, well. That's new.
Amy: I noticed that you're busy planning Eric's party and thought you could use some help.
Kitty, laughing: Oh honey, that's very kind of you. But wouldn't you rather spend time with the girls?
Amy: Uh... Jackie went to the mall with Donna to help her find a gift for Eric and I'm... kinda avoiding the mall.*
Kitty, understanding what she meant by that: In that case, I'd appreciate your help. Now, what do you know about American birthday parties?
Amy: Nothing really, but I know a lot about Brazilian birthday parties. See, there's a very popular candy on birthdays called brigadeiro. I can teach you the recipe.**
Kitty: Well, doesn't that sound fancy?

Eric: Look, I know what you're all doing here.
Kelso: What are you talking about, man? We're just hanging out, like always. Except we're dressed nice, but that doesn't mean anything.
*Amy comes into the basement, wearing a red dress and a black jacket*
Amy: Let's party! [sighs] Why aren't you guys excited? I even wore my favorite dress!
Eric: Because I didn't want a party.
Amy: Oh, stop being such a pain in the ass. It's your birthday! Come on, cheer up a little. [she pulls him into a tight hug and gives him a kiss on the cheek] Happy birthday, Eric!
Amy, looking around: Why are you all staring at me? I'm Latina, I'm a hugger!
Kitty, from the stairs: Hi kids, I need your help with something. Amy, Jackie, Donna, Michael, Steven... young man with an accent, would you give me a hand? Not you Eric!
*everyone but Eric goes upstairs to help her*
Kitty: Everybody's ready? I'll call him.
*back in the basement*
Kitty: Eric, honey! Honey, could you come up here for a second? [goes upstairs again] Shut up, he's coming!

Chapter Five: The One with the Burnt Pancakes

    Coming out of a divorce unscathed was more uncommon than its counterpart. Typically, a bit of baggage attaches itself to one or both parties. No matter whether or not divorce rates are through the roof in today's modern era, it still hurt more than words could describe. Especially when it's due to an affair. It creates this sense of unworthiness, and as though you weren't good enough. And when the pair has a child, it makes it ten times more difficult. Knowing that you'll have to break it to the child that their parents will no longer be together, and that they will most likely spend more time with one in comparison to the other.
But, when your child already has a bit of distaste towards your partner, it can make the blow a little softer. Sure, every mother wants their child to have a relationship with their father, other mom, etc. Whatever the situation is, parents, want that. They want to be able to see their child's face when they see their ex-spouse, but sometimes, there's nothing you can do about it. Especially when your ex never put in the effort, to begin with.
Above all, your perception of love changes. and that's exactly what happened to Lily. She lost all belief in herself and didn't believe she could ever find someone who would love her, along with the baggage that she carried alongside her. And that broken heart that she has yet to mend, and honestly, she wasn't sure if she'd ever find someone who could help. To cup warm hands around the two halves and hold them together until they combined once again.
Other things she deemed impossible, was her sitting in a kitchen with the avengers. Earth’s mightiest heroes. The people that destroyed an entire army. travelled to space. Some even having been ripped out of time and thrown into different roles and periods. These people had stories people couldn't even dream of, lived lives people only wished to be able to experience. And here sat Lily, a single mother of an 11-year-old boy, who lived in a domestic area, and worked as a pediatrician. She was minuscule in comparison to the Gods and soldiers that sat around her.
"So, is Hunter’s father around?" a soft voice asked, an accent dripping from the words. It had pulled Lily out of her thoughts of astonishment, as she tried to wrap her head around what was currently happening.
"Hm? Oh, no," Lily spoke, her voice as soft as the gentle ripple of a pond, while she sipped the coffee they had given her. Glancing up, a few of the superheroes looked at her with inquisitive eyes, wondering where he may be, or if he even was to be anymore, "We uh, we divorced four years ago."
"I'm sorry to hear that," the girl continued. Lily had placed her as Scarlet Witch, or Wanda Maximoff. Hunter adored her. He ranted and raved about how cool her abilities were and how she could probably take down an entire army by herself if she wanted to, "He's cute. I've always wanted kids."
Lily nodded along as the conversation continued around her. She stayed as silent as a sleeping lamb, her green eyes glancing around as she tapped her fingers against her coffee mug. She wasn't sure what they wanted her to say. It had been proven time and time again that Lily was the farthest from a talker. Deep inside of her mind, the little voice of self-doubt had convinced her that no one cared about what she had to say. That the only reason people even spoke to her, to begin with, was because it was polite. But she's also been told that the world around her found that shy demeanour endearing, and mysterious. As if she held secrets behind those sealed lips when in reality, Lily was scared that if she spoke, she'd create secrets. Letting the world in on the pain she hid, that she kept locked away in a vault deep within her mind. protecting herself from being destroyed again.
"...So if you ever need a babysitter," Wanda’s voice sang again, yanking Lily away from her deeper thoughts once again, as though the two were tethered. the young blonde's attention perked up as the young girl continued speaking, "I'm your girl."
Was the Scarlet Witch, offering to babysit Lily's eleven-year-old? As in, seriously? Like to pick him up or come down from upstate New York to deliberately take care of him? If it weren't for the fact Lily rarely left the house, and if she did, it was with Hunter, she may have considered the idea. But Lily wasn't one to go out. The noise that came along with the idea of partying or going out on the town always got Lily's heart beating at a much too fast pace. If she was going out, it was to gen's cafe, or with three glasses of wine down and a whole bottle to go. The world was loud and intimidating, and could easily crush Lily's fragile heart and mind with a simple touch. And where would that lead her? Nowhere good, that's where.
"Oh that's sweet, but I don't typically go out, and when I do, he comes with," Lily stated, lips forming a tight smile as she ran her finger along the circular hole atop her mug.
"Really? A girl that's as beautiful as you must get tons of guys and go out on dates. and I see no ring on that finger," the infamous Tony Stark teased while shifting his weight to look at the blonde, "unless there's already a lucky fella."
A laugh of almost disbelief escaped through Lily's full lips as if the idea of Tony Stark calling her beautiful was too good to be true, "Oh no. my best friend tries but I don't date. Already have my hands full with work and Hunter."
"Where do you work?" Steve's voice now chimed in, pushing off the counter he leaned on as Bucky worked away, staying silent. He hadn't spoken a word to Lily since Steve walked her through the threshold of the kitchen, merely a gruff hi before returning to the feverish work he was doing on the pancakes. It was as though he was trying to make them perfect.
"I'm a pediatrician at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital down in Manhattan," Lily answered, her eyes averting from looking at any of the intimidating people around her. Why were they so interested in her? Why did they seriously care so much about her personal life? She just brought Hunter here for a tour, not an interrogation...was this what people did? Like...they wanted to learn more about her? It didn't make sense, she was pretty basic. There was nothing special to her, Lily thought.
"Oh, that's awesome. I have a few-"
"SHIT!"
The large outburst caused everybody to immediately turn their attention to where it came from. Behind the counter, Bucky was waving smoke away from his face that seemed to be billowing from the pan on the stove. He burnt the pancakes. Lily felt a small smile tug at the corners of her lips as she watched him throw a towel at the counter, his face turning a crisp shade of red, like a cherry. The moment his eyes landed on her though, his entire body lit up in a hue of pink it seemed. He grew flustered, biting down on this ever so soft lips he had. Lily was only human, she couldn't help but avert her eyes down to the thin layer of skin. And as if on cue, Wanda let her voice ring through the kitchen.
"Damn it, Barnes! I told you not to cook, and you decide to challenge your abilities in front of our guest?" The ginger exclaimed while standing from her chair, going to help the built man clean his mess.
A few of the others in the room whined, and Lily guessed they had been waiting for a bit to eat. She felt a twang of guilt deep within her, as though it was her fault. But it really wasn't, she wasn't the one making the pancakes. no, she was merely answering the personal questions they all seemed to have for her, as well as constantly glancing at the hall or behind her to see if Hunter was on his way back. Instead, he was now outside with Sam, looking at all of the different artifacts and things that weren't able to be kept inside of the compound.
"You much of a chef, Lily?" James Rhodes (Warmachine, she reminded herself), asked. No matter the amount of mental effort it took, Lily couldn't help but allow the tinge of rose to decorate her full cheeks. They seemed to want to get to know her, and she felt almost...accepted? No, maybe more so welcomed, by these beings of immense power and ability. She allowed her shoulders to relax, and her grip on her mug lessened.
"Nothing impressive, but I do know my way around a kitchen," she responded, tilting her head to the side, causing her blonde locks to dance across her shoulder, "Most nights, I try to make homemade meals for Hunt and I. It's important for a child's development." she finished but noticed how all of their eyes were glued to her. Raising her left eyebrow ever so gently, she let a giggle escape from her throat, "but sometimes I give in and order pizza."
"You should help Bucky out, he's never been the best cook. Got used to boiling everything in the forties, so he makes a mean hot dog," Steve teased, sauntering over in all of his Captain America excellence, "Anything else? Completely lost on him."
"It's a good skill to have. But difficult to master, I suppose." Lily shrugged, crossing her legs over one another as she rested her elbow on the glass table, cupping her chin as she sipped the hot liquid in her cup. She couldn't seem, however, to take her eyes off of the culprit of the burnt pancake smell. The way the muscles in his neck rippled whenever he clenched his jaw. How his metal arm glinted as a small stream of light entered through a window, creating a bright reflection. How his scruff along his chiselled chin seemed to be a bit overgrown underneath.
Her mind began to wander momentarily, a gentle and soft vision dancing itself into her brain. Him sitting on a chair in her bathroom, Lily sitting comfortably on his lap, facing him. His eyes sleepy and his hair unkempt. Her skilled and nimble hand resting on the side of his face as she trimmed underneath his jaw, getting those areas he seemed to miss. His lips parted as he seemed to slowly drift off again, as though Lily's gentle hands were willing him to...
A hand waving in front of her face snatched Lily out of her odd fantasy land. She cleared her throat and looked around her, eyebrows knitting together in confusion, as though she had been paying attention to the whole conversation she just missed. Holding her lips inside of her mouth, Lily shifted once again in her seat, attempting to play it cool as the blush that had formed on her cheeks seemed to grow rapidly.
"Sorry, could you repeat what you said?" she asked, her voice weak as her eyes shifted to look at the man behind the counter once again. She couldn't help it...he was beautiful.
"I said you should help Buck out making the pancakes. Most of us haven't eaten, and if you're as good as you say, maybe you can help." Steve grinned, a knowing glint in his sky blue eyes. The way he looked at Lily, as though he could see inside of her head, sent a shiver down her spine. The idea of anyone knowing where her mind just wandered was basically mortifying for her. Being such a conservative person, the idea of that getting out? Yeah, no.
"Oh no I shouldn't...I'm positive he's capable of making pancakes." Lily chuckled, her voice cracking halfway through. This caught everyone's interest, and Lily had to hide her face with her mug as the dark liquid slid its way down her throat.
"He isn't. We don't normally let him in the kitchen. C'mon Lily, show us whatcha got." Steve continued to pry, leaning back in his chair as the others encouraged the entire idea.
Lily's head turned back to where Bucky stood, an almost pleading yet bashful look gracing his perfectly sculpted features. Just the way his eyes seemed to call out for her, was enough to allow the eldest Osborne to give in to the peer pressure of her new acquaintances. That was something Lily believed to be impossible, being friends with these heroes. These people that laid their life on the ground multiple times, saving her and her son by protecting the world around them. She was in debt to this group, everybody was. They've kept them protected for countless years. But how would one even begin to thank them?
"Okay okay, I'll do it," Lily mumbled, finishing her drink before pushing herself out of the chair that probably cost the same amount as her dog. She pulled a hair tie from her wrist and securing the blonde locks at the nape of her neck as she gracefully floated towards the kitchen. Glancing around, she couldn't help but let out a laugh at how expensive the items around her were. Sure, she didn't live in a house with run-down appliances, but these were top-of-the-line, high-end, see-on Food Channel things. A far reach from Lily's budget, "Well, first of all, Bucky, you need to turn on the fan."
After preparing everything to ensure not only safety but also to optimize space and time, Lily turned towards the man she had just moments ago daydreamed of. For a moment, she found herself lost in those steel-blue eyes he had. As though he had captured the moon and made them his own, adding a tinge of the blue from the sky above. How with every flicker across her face, a story was told. The pain and suffering he had endured etched into the dips and creases of his face, especially around those beautiful orbs. A part of her wished that the other members of the group were gone and that she could grip the sides of his face and kiss those lips he kept licking. His tongue darting out to wet them, creating a slight chapped ring around the pink layer of skin.
"Hey if you two are done gazing into the eyes of each other and looking like Hollister models, the rest of us are hungry." Starks’s voice rang, snapping Lily out of the trance the ex-soldier had put her under for a few seconds.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, coke can," Bucky muttered while turning his gaze away from Lily's and focused on washing the blueberries, "I'm just cleaning fruit."

HISTORY: Zombieland Saga is an idol show.
I have already cut my readership in half with that one sentence alone. But this is no ordinary idol show! A maniacal necromancer named Kotarou Tatsumi brings seven girls back from the dead. A former idol from the 1980’s (Junko), a former idol from the 2010’s (Ai), a child star from the 2010’s (Lily), a girl with idol aspirations from 2008 (Sakura), a former biker gang chick from 1997 (Saki), a courtesan from the 19th century (Yugiri), and Yamada Tae! There’s no describing what exactly Yamada Tae is but we don’t question it as she’s best girl.

Kotarou brought these seven girls back to life in order to save the Saga area and revitalize it. Throughout the first 12 episodes, we watch these girls get the hang of being alive again after so long and become an idol group. With Kotarou’s make-up skills, he’s able to fool nearly everybody that these girls are living, breathing idols. Almost everybody! At the end of the series, we get one guy who caught on about Lily, Ai, and Junko. But enough about that! Let’s see how successful Franchouchou has gotten since we last left the series.

REVENGE: So this sequel begins with the girls doing odd-jobs trying to earn as much money as they possibly can. Normally, the girls would do odd gigs that Kotarou was able to conjure up and that’s been good publicity for their group Franchouchou. However, they came into some money problems when they gambled and lost. It’s no doubt that their performance in the 12th episode was a banger and gave Franchouchou a boost in the idol scene. However, they aimed too high by renting out a big amphitheater to have a concert and only 1.6% capacity was filled. So the performance that night was a crash and burn type of thing. The after-effect put the girls in the hole (money wise) and Kotarou spends his days getting drunk at bars.

Seriously, look at this guy! He looks like a drunk, fourth season Eren Yeager. Kinda hard watching Kotarou looking so sad, pathetic, and drunk! It wasn’t until the girls had to perform at a metal concert arena that Kotarou got a kick in the pants. The fool arrives to the performance hella late, screaming for an encore when the audience is totally not vibing for one. And the girls end up singing while the audience goes in (for a lack of a better term) a Blues Brothers style rumble. The important thing is that Kotarou is feeling better and is ready to send his little zombie songbirds out to save the Saga prefecture.
Throughout the season, we follow the girls of Franchouchou as they regain some popularity they obtained last season. Will they do it? In the first 4 episodes, the group gained their own radio show and Ai’s old group (before she died) Iron Frill considered them as rivals. I think they’ll be okay!

BUT WAIT…: What about that photographer fella we saw all last season? He was quickly catching onto Ai, Junko, and Lily looking a little too close in resemblance to the girls that died years ago. Slowly throughout the series, we see him get closer to the truth.
NEW IDOL?: Oh God, did Kotarou commit taboo once again by bringing another girl back from the dead?
No…It was sadly much worse.
While at a public bathhouse, a girl (not wearing her prescription glasses) entered the men’s side, slipped on some soap, and was knocked unconscious. Thinking she died, Kotarou brings her body back to the girls (who aren’t wearing their makeup) saying this girl will be #7 in Franchouchou. And just like I said, she is not dead and now she knows that the idol group she loves are dancing zombies.
Kotarou is truly fucking up royally this season.

Anyways, this is Maimai! She’s a fan of Franchouchou and ends up becoming a temporary member of the group as #7 (for the episode). And, she’s voiced by Kana Hanazawa! If you don’t know who she is by now, blow me. It’s a little scary knowing that there’s one person out there that knows about the secret. But Maimai is much too loyal a fan to ruin something for everyone and is totally chill about her favorite idol group really being zombies.

THE TWO UNSOLVED MYSTERIES: As much as many of us loved the first season to Zombieland Saga, there were two characters we wished got more play and we knew a little more about. Yugiri and Yamada Tae! Tae-chan has been the enigmatic idol from day one. And due to her possible mental disability, we might never know. However, in one episode we do see her stopping off at a cemetary and I do believe that was her own grave.

As for Yugiri, even the detective can’t dig up info on her. She was around in the late 1800s or the Meiji era and there’s only one known photo in existence of Yugiri before her death. This season, we got a two-episode saga to bring us the good word on Saga and its importance. We got a bit of a history lesson about the Saga prefecture during the Meiji era and even what it was like before then. And yes, we did learn how Yugiri died and her connection to Saga. It was quite sad, but definitely one of the best episodes of the series.
BEST SONG: Didn’t think I’d have one for this franchise.

ENDING: Well, we learned some extra details on what happened during the fall and rise of Franchouchou. This mostly has to do with Kotarou’s gamble with booking a huge arena for the girls to perform in. First of all, this arena was the place of Ai’s death. You member! When she was electrocuted right there on stage! Second of all, they didn’t sell the tickets until the day of the concert. What was that end result again? 1.6% capacity filled! Even in Covid-19 times, that’s fucking small. Granted, the audience was full of those memorable fans from season one including Saki’s friend’s daughter, Lily’s father, and the two metal jackasses. But still, not a good! The girls hit a brick wall and felt embarrassed. This was the worst moment for these girls (aside from dying once). After the disasterous event, they were millions of yen in debt, they’re running out of essentials for the house, and Kotarou has gone on a two-month drinking binge. It was then that they decided to do makeup themselves and go out in the world to earn a living and eventually pay off the debt.
Thankfully, they were able to get out of debt and regained their popularity throughout Saga and further. Saki has managed to get a radio show. Iron Frill (Ai’s old group) sees Franchouchou as a worthy rival. Lily gained a lot of fame in a televised competition. So what’s next? Kotarou apologized to Franchouchou for his big mistake the previous year and him spiraling out of control. Seconds later, he announces that their revenge will be to perform at the very same arena that fucked up their career the year prior.
Boy, you do NOT learn your lesson, do you?!

More trouble is on the rise as that reporter who caught on about the girls being zombies has confronted Kotarou. We finally circled back to the final scene from season one. This guy has caught on to the fact that the girls of Franchouchou resemble girls that died. The only one that he couldn’t dig up dirt on was Yugiri. Possibly because the only known evidence for existence is a photo at the bar! What’s more, he has a sneaking suspicion that the girls of Franchouchou are all zombies. In a prior episode, the reporter snapped a picture at the right time exposing Yamada Tae’s head rolling around on the ground. Dude is ready to go public with the story of the girls of Franchouchou being zombies resurrected from the dead unless Kotarou pulls the plug on everything. Kotarou simply said that the girls will get their revenge and will perform at the arena.
And then…a storm hit Saga!

There was a lot of damage around town. And worst off was Kotarou’s place, as it was ripped from its foundation, thrown into the sea, and crumbled into nothing after coming ashore. Worst of all, the special makeup the girls use to hide their zombie state was in that wreckage. Meanwhile, Kotarou spent several days trapped in a bar with the bar owner and nearly drowned. The girls ended up in a safety shelter with nearly the entire Saga prefecture. The good thing is because they’re town celebrities that they were given a top floor to themselves for privacy. The bad thing is that they’ve been here for days and their makeup is starting to come off, exposing zombies. And to make matters worse, that nosy reporter who knows the girls are zombies is also staying at the shelter (though the girls don’t know he knows). The girls decided to use Junko’s doll-crafting paintset to make masks to hide behind. That lasted only five seconds while trying to entertain the children of the shelter.

This is it. The girls are exposed as zombies.
Actually, the kids and parents thought this was part of the act and thought Franchouchou was lifting up the spirits of the arena. And in comes Kotarou just in time! Man, right under the wire. Now we’re like a few days from this planned concert and Saga is still recovering from the huge storm. Morale is quite low and it’s starting to look like a worse outcome for Franchouchou’s revenge than what happened one year ago. Saki used her platform on the radio to reach all of her viewers to see if they could try to come to the arena for their concert that is now a charity concert. So will this concert be a big success or a bigger flop than last year?

Actually, the arena was packed with people. Fans we’ve met in season one and new characters we met this season were even in attendance. Lily’s father ended up clearing away a lot of the debris so that concert goers could get through. Even Iron Frill (Ai’s old group) came in attendance! The concert was a huge success! And can I say that I’m really enjoying Yamada Tae’s Freddie Mercury impression on stage.

Yes, the concert was perfect! A great revenge! They even made Kotarou (a grown-ass man) cry. Even the reporter is willing to keep his trap shut (for now) about the girls being zombies. And best of all, NO ONE CAUGHT COVID-19! Yeah, I have to bring that up. The date of the concert was March 8th, 2020. Ahem. March. 2020. But yeah, everything went great. Perfect ending for Zombieland Saga Reven…

AND THEN AN ALIEN MOTHERSHIP COMES IN AND ZAPS THE AREA!

Who wrote that in the script? Some jerkass from Gainax?!
The last 15 seconds of Zombieland Saga leaves us with some sort of unidentified flying object zapping the area. Only Zombieland Saga can get away with this shit. Well folks, let’s see what’s in store for season three, Zombieland Saga: Zombies in Space or Sagapendence Day Zomb-Trek: Deep Space Seven.
Yeah, I know nothing has been greenlit or announced yet, but you know Studio Mappa has something up their sleeves with that ending. Once again, I enjoyed Zombieland Saga’s charm. I didn’t know if there was much more they could offer us after the first season’s stories, like learning how the girls died, Sakura’s past, and especially Lily’s backstory. This season, I wish there was more Yamada Tae. Come on guys, we still don’t know how she died or anything about her past! And what’s up with Yamada Tae being buried next to Sakura? Did they know each other before passing away? I want some answers! But I was blown away when it came to Yugiri’s saga and the tale of Saga itself. We got a literal history lesson about what Saga was once, what it became after a long struggle, the pain some folks went to in order to keep Saga thriving, and all leading up to where we are now.
This was a fun season. I had a lot more fun with the music this season than the previous one. Yeah, believe it or not I liked the songs Franchouchou sang this season than last season. Never a dull moment, especially with Kotarou! Yeah, his crazy-ass was totally there making absolutely no fucka sense. Take that competition Lily entered.

What the fuck was Kotarou doing? That was an epic fail on so many levels.
Well folks, whenever season three or whatever sequel may come, I’m hoping for more information involving Yamada Tae. And you know what else was severely missing from this season, Kotarou’s past with Sakura. I didn’t forget that flashback from season one and those couple of seconds this season aren’t enough to satisfy my hunger. Those are the two things I would like to know more about in whatever comes of the franchise. Otherwise, great time had by all!
Once more, if you are not a fan of idol shows, this is the only one I would highly recommend Zombieland Saga. Crunchyroll has both seasons available for streaming. FUNimation is now dubbing the second season as we speak.

Makeover game over (Clone high JFK omorashi fic)
(That's my first fanfic in English, just saying)
"Hey you! Half-pint! Junior mint! Pipsqueak! Tiny Tim! Yard stick! Snack-pack! Wee fella! Brown leprechaun!"
Gandhi looked around. Turns out, JFK's been standing over his shoulder and apparantly... referring to him all this time
"...Are you talking to me?" He asked.
...
15 minutes later Kennedy was straight up step-by-step turning this little fella into pretty much a clone of himself. And the first step hap getting rid of that wack Gandhi speak and giving his "student" a nice, proper Boston accent.
"Now listen, I'm gonna help you get a prom date But at this point your ass is neither round nor... err uhh..." JFK stuttered, his legs stiffening. Why was that? Well, the thing was, he didn't get the chance to go to the bathroom this morning, hence why his bladder was already halfway full. But it still It wasn't THAT much of a problem... for now.
"Hey uhh... You alright there?" Gandhi questioned, not exactly knowing what was wrong with his "tutor".
"And why do you think I would ... err uhh... not be?? Now, read this!" But of course, JFK was going to hide it and pretend like everything is just peachy with him. He then proceeded to show that shortie with the words "For supper I want a party platter" written on it.
"For... supper I want a party platter."
"No! No! No!" Like this - Fowa Suppah I, err uhh, wohnt a Pahty Plattah!!!"
Over a half-hour has passed and Gandhi STILL couldn't get it right, much to the discomfort of JFK himself and of course, his not particularly well-trained bladder. At this point, he was helplessly walking around the room with his arms in his pockets. He could practically feel the liquid gushing inside of him.
"For Sou-par I want a... Purty Platt-ur... Oh, and quick question, you sure you don't... have to pee or something?" Most of the time, Gandhi couldn't focus on the poster all that much and lots of random things happened to catch his eye, such as JFK desperately trying to pretend like he's not about to wet himself.
"What are you... err uhh... talking about, pipsqueak? I absolutely do NOT! And by absolutely I mean abso-to the brim-lutely!" He blushed a little.
Shortly after, Mahatma FINALLY got it right. Which meant Jake could continue with his little makeover, not that he really wanted to at this point, but still. It took him a while to put on Gandhi's wig, because his hands were just so shaky... just like all of his other body parts, really. The posture exercise didn't go too well either, the books kept falling from JFK's head, because he struggled to stand up straight and kept involuntarily stopping because of those damn sudden urges hitting his bladder. And he couldn't even be bothered to rate his "shorter clone's" new look, he just sorta gave it a thumbs up, despite all the creases on his clothes and other small imperfections.
Gandhi... or rather GFK, wasn't exactly good with details, but even he could notice that everything Kennedy did so far seemed either rushed, or just plain strange. He knew exactly what was going on.
And of course, he kept asking:
"What's up with all the jitters? Need to, err uhh... drain the main vein?";
"You sure you don't need to see a man about a horse? And by horse I mean... the urinals!";
"Why ya fidgeting like your about the piss your, err uhh... pants?"
But of course, JFK kept denying it. He's a cool guy, and cool guys don't have bodily functions... Right?
"I said no once, and I err uhh meant it! You better stop asking questions shortie, before that makeover turns into a game over!"
In fact, this dude was so focused on his need, which was, well... getting pretty urgent, he even forgot to take off GFK's glasses, before they both started walking through the hallways, impressing all the ladies around them.
While Gandhi was as relaxed and laid back as possible, JFK looked stiff as hell and somewhat uncomfortable. His hands were really close to his crotch, like he was hesitant of whether he should grab it or not.
" Don't err uhh damage the merchandise, ladies! And by merchandise I mean my junk!" While GFK was getting hooked up with some girls, Jake took a step back, and started staring at the bathroom door.
He wasn't approaching it, because obviously, everybody would notice that. But he was, well... considering it.
" Hey, taller whiter me, you ..need to-" Oh, but of course, OF COURSE, he noticed that.
"How many times do I have to tell you? My bladder's emptier than, err uhh, Lincoln's head!" JFK immediately looked away from the restroom, and just stood there proudly, looking at GFK and GFK only, while trying to look as relaxed as possible.
He was waiting... and waiting... and waiting for him to finish making out with Catherine the Great, but it just seemed to take forever, much to Kennedy's dismay.'
And oh well, it seems like has to shove his hands between his legs THIS INSTANT, otherwise that little leak was going to turn into something, much, MUCH worse.
"No-no-no!" But despite Jake holding his crotch, he was still physically incapable of stopping the flood escaping him, leaving this poor guy weak and awfully embarrased, but relieved , while forming a gigantic puddle on the floor.
Gandhi, along with everyone else in the room, couldn't help, but stare at this... little accident
"Ha, look everyone, JFK has a limit for, err uhh, holding his urine!"
"Hey, careful with what you say, half-pint!" JFK shouted, embareased. He was moments away from beating up GFK, but, as it was stated earlier, the accident left him really weak. Everyone in the hallway just started laughing, quite loudly too. And since the mob consisted mostly of conventionally attractive girls, Kennedy couldn't bring himself to tell them to shut up, either.
"I... have to go!" He squealed as he ran away towards the bathroom. This poor clone simply needed some time to be alone.
"Ha-ha, JFK...?" It didn't take too long for GFK, or rather Gandhi to notice that Jake was missing. He entered the boys bathroom and saw JFK just staring at the mirror, devastated.
"Hey, JFK" — Gandhi took off his wig to get rid of his Boston accent. — "You alright, man?"
"You made everybody laugh at me, bald nerd!
"Okay, not gonna lie, that was preeetty hilarious" He chuckled "but it's like... no big deal, really!"
"Go away!"
"Well, I mean, if you say so" Gandhi proceeded to walk towards the exit.
"Wait, don't!"
"Alriiight..." He once again, slowly approached JFK and put his hand oh his shoulder. ,"Seriously man, cheer up! I mean... I still wet the bed!"
"Ha, little tiny piss baby!" He smiled, saying it like it's some sort of compliment.
"You too, man. You too."

Cigarettes and Lipton's hand on her thigh were the best things she had during the Battle of the Bulge.
"That new kid looks pretty frightened, wouldn't you say?" Perconte nugged her shoulder and chuckled together with Luz who was leaning against a tree with a hot meal in his hands. "I'd be too if the first thing I do in the army was being sent into this fucking cold with the German's artillery going on us all the time, Perco." she responded and leaned more to Lip's side. She felt his soft lips against her cold forehead for a slight moment and it sent a smile to her face.
"Lot of you guys have been injured?" the trio heard the replacement ask. 
"It's called wounded, peanut. Injured is when you fall out of a tree or something." Johnny Martin immediately reacted and rolled his eyes. Y/N quietly laughed and shook her head. The boys got their food or whatever it actually was as Muck continued his 'wounded list', "Don't worry, there's enough crap flying around here you're bound to get dinged some time. Almost every single one of these guys have been hit at least once." 
Y/N felt Lip's hand set on her waist and pull her a little closer to him even though there wasn't any space between them anymore. "You cold?" she frowned and stroked his cheek. He flinched a bit when her thumb touched the scar. "I'd kiss the hell of you until you forget about your wounds but we gotta save that for the foxhole time." she whispered to his ear and Lipton, despite the freezing weather, blushed like a little girl.
"And George Luz here," Skip voice made them turn their heads to him, "has never been hit. You're one lucky bastard." George mumbled something back and kept on eating his lunch with a grin on his face. "Not lucky, Skip, just scared!" she shouted out playfully and winked at Luz who seemed like he was choking because he wanted to respond with some sarcastic remark as fast as possible.
"And Liebgott, that skinny little guy," Muck gestured towards the Jewish boy, "he got pinned to the neck in Holland. And right next to him that other skinny little guy, that's Popeye. He got shot his scarny little butt in Normandy. And Buck got shot in his rather large butt in Holland." Compton seized the opportunity to lessen the stress that the replacement, Webb, had probably been in, lifted up his jacket and pointed at his butt. Webb let out a small laugh, just like everybody else around and Y/N caught herself smiling like an idiot.
It almost seemed surreal but she felt genuinely happy at the moment. Of course, they were out of ammunition, winter clothes, medical supplies and lot of other stuff but they had each other. They created a bond between each other, a bond that can be created only between men in combat. They knew that the fella next to them in the foxhole is one of the best. They knew he'd lay down his life for them because they'd do the same.
"Yeah, kind of an Easy Company tradition to get shot in the ass!" she exclaimed and the boys laughed in agreement. 
"Hey! Even our 1st Sergeant Lipton over there! He got a couple of pieces of a tank shell burst at Carentan. One chunk in the face, another chunk almost took out his nuts." Skip explained and the wonderful laugh could be heard again. She grinned at the memory of Shifty ripping Lip's pants just to make sure everything's in the right place.
"How are those nuts, Sarge?" Guarnere asked impartially. "Doing fine, Bill. Nice of you to ask." Lip smiled a bit and shook his head as he was mixing his food in his army aluminum "plate". 
"You should have asked Y/N, Bill!" George called out and winked at her just like she winked at him only a few minutes ago. This was his revenge.
"I can only confirm they're doing more than fine, guys. We'll let you know if there's a problem but I hope not. Everything's been running smoothly so far." she smirked confidently and clung to Lip who stared at her proudly and eventually kissed her cheek. 
"Jesus, get a room you two!" George proclaimed and covered his eyes with his hands.
"You're just jealous, Luz 'cause you don't have a badass girlfriend like me."

RACETRACK: In 1899, the street of New York City echoed with the voices of newsies, peddeling the newspapers of Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst and other giants of the newspaper world. On every street corner you saw 'em, carrying the banner, bringing you the news for a penny a pape. Poor orphans and run-aways, the newsies were a ragged army, without a leader, until one day when all that changed.
(The movie title appears. We see the outside of the Newsboys Lodging House. Inside, Kloppman, the owner, enters the bunkroom, finding the boys still in bed.)
KLOPPMAN: Boots! Skittery! Skittery! Skittery!
SKITTERY: Wha..I didn't do it!
KLOPPMAN: What do you mean you didn't do it? Will you get up? When you get up, it's time to get up! Snitch! Get up! Get up! Everybody's sleeping. They sleep their lives away these kids! The presses are rolling! Sell the papers, sell the papers! Come on, come on. You dreaming about selling papers?
JACK: Mmmmmm? What's the matta with you?
KLOPPMAN: What's the matter with me?
JACK: What's the matta with you? Wanna..go..back..to..
KLOPPMAN: Come on! (gives him a shove)
JACK: Get away from me, you're mad!
KLOPPMAN:  Haha. Get up boy! Come on. Alright! Carry the banner! Sell the papers!
(Racetrack looks around for his cigar, noticing that Snipeshooter has it)
*Start Song*
RACETRACK: That's my cigar!
SNIPESHOOTER: You'll steal anudder!
KID BLINK: Hey bummers, we got work tah do!
KID: Since when did you become me mudder?
CRUTCHY: Aww, stop your bawling!
NEWSIES: Hey, who asked you?
MUSH: So, how'd you sleep Jack?
JACK: On me back Mush.
MUSH: Ha ha. Hear that fellas? Hear what Jack said? I asked Jack how he slept and he said 'On me back Mush'
CRUTCHY: Jack, when I walk, does it look like I'm faking it?
JACK: No. Who says you're faking it?
CRUTCHY: I dunno. It's just there's so many fake crips on the street today, a real crip ain't got a chance. I gotta find me a new selling spot where they ain't used to seeing me.
MUSH: Try Bottle Alley or the harbour
RACETRACK: Try Central Park, it's guaranteed
JACK: Try any baker, bum, or barber
SKITTERY: They almost all knows how to read
KID BLINK: I smell money
CRUTCHY: You smell foul!
MUSH: Met this girl last night
CRUTCHY: Move your elbow!
RACETRACK: Pass the towel!
SKITTERY: For a buck I might!

(Jack knocks Morris' hat off his head. The Delancey's chase Jack around the Square. David and Les enter and watch until Jack bumps into them.)

WEASEL: Hey, you got your lously papes, now beat it!
DAVID: I paid for twenty. I only got nineteen.
WEASEL: Are you accusing me of lying kid?
DAVID: No. I just want my paper.
MORRIS: He said beat it!
JACK: No, it's nineteen. It's nineteen, but don't worry about it. It's an honest mistake. I mean, Morris here can't count to twenty with his
shoes on. Hey Race, will ya spot me 2 bits? Another 50 for my friend.
DAVID: I don't want another 50.
JACK: Sure you do. Every newsie wants more papes.
DAVID: I don't. I don't want your papes. I don't take charity from anyone. I don't know you. I don't care to. Here are your papes.
LES: Cowboy. They called him Cowboy.
JACK: Yeah, I'm called that and a lot of other things, including Jack Kelly, which is what me mudder called me.what do they call you kid?
LES: Les, and this is my brother David. He's older.
JACK: No kidding. So how old are you Les?
LES: Me? Near 10.
JACK: Near 10. Well, that's no good. if anyone asks, you're 7. You see, younger sells more papes and if we're gonna be partners, we wanna
be the best.
DAVID: Wait. Who said anything about being partners?
JACK: Well, you owe me 2 bits right? Well, I'll consider that an investment. We sell together, we split 70-30, plus you get the benefit of observing me, no charge.
DAVID: Ah-ha.
JACK: (mocking) Ah-ha.
CRUTCHY: You're getting the chance of a lifetime here, Davey. You learn from Jack, you learn from the best.
DAVID: Well, if he's the best, then how come he needs me?
JACK: Listen,I don't need you, pal,but I ain't got a cute little brudder like Les here to front for me. With this kid's puss and my God-given talent, we could move a thousand papes a week. So what do you say Les? You wanna sell papes with me?
LES: Yeah!
JACK: So we got a deal?
DAVID: Wait. It's got to be at least 50-50.
JACK: 60-40, I forget the whole thing.
(David holds out his hand. Jack spits on his hand and reaches for David, who pulls his arm away.)
JACK: What'sa matta?
DAVID: That's disgusting!
(By this time, the rest of the newsies have gotten their papers and are moving out into the street.)
JACK: The name of the game is volume, Dave. You only took twenty papes. Why?
DAVID: Bad headline.
JACK: That's the first thing you gotta learn. Headlines don't sell papes, newsies sell papes. You know, we're what holds this town together.
Without newsies, nobody knows nothing.
(A girl hurries past and the newsies take off their hats and make a few comments)
SPECS: Baby born with three heads!
(The newsies begin to yell out various headlines as the spread out over the streets. We go into Pulitzer's office where Pulitzer is reading the headline. Also in the room is Jonathan, Seitz and another World employee.)
PULITZER: 'Trolly Strike Drags On For Third Week' and this so called headline drags on for infinity.
EMPLOYEE: News is slow, Mr. Pulitzer. The trolly strike's all we've got.
PULITZER: Well, that's all Mr. William Randolph Hearst has too, but look how he covers the strike. Look! Look!
EMPLOYEE: We'll get a new headline writer, sir.
PULITZER: Steal Hearst's man. Offer him double.
SEITZ:  That's how he stole him from us. It's not the headlines, Chief. The circulation wars are cutting into our profits because you spend as much as you make trying to beat Hearst.
PULITZER: Then we need to make more money. You do not penny-pinch when you're in a war, Seitz. Victory means everything. Now, when I created the world... what is that deafening noise?
JONATHAN: Just the newsies, sir. I'll go have them quieted.
PULITZER: Never mind the newsies. Where was I?
SEITZ: Creating the world, Chief.
PULITZER: There's lots of money down there, gentlemen. I want to know how I can get more of it...by tonight.
(We are now in the streets of New York. Jack and David roam through the crowds.)
DAVID: Extra! Extra! Trolly strike drags on!
JACK: Extra! Extra! Ellis Island in flames!
DAVID: Wait, where's that story?
JACK: Thank you sir. Page 9. Thousands flee in panic. Thank you. Much obliged to you ladies.
DAVID 'Trash Fire Next To Immigration Building Terrifies Seagulls'??
JACK: Terrified flight of inferno!! Thousands of lives at stake!  Extra! Extra! Thank you sir. Extra! Extra!
(Les enters)
JACK: Hey, you start in the back like I told you? Ok, show me again.
LES:  (coughs) Buy me last pape, mista?
JACK: It's heartbreaking kid. Go get 'em.
DAVID: My father taught us not to lie.
JACK: Well, mine told me not to starve, so we both got an education.
DAVID: You're just making up things. All these headlines.
JACK: I don't do nothing the guys who write it don't do. Anyway, it's not lying, it's just improving the truth little.
(Warden Snyder enters and see Jack. Les re-enters)
LES: The guy gave me a quarter. Quick, give me some more last papers.
DAVID: Wait, wait. You smell like beer.
LES: Well, that's how I made the quarter. The guy bet me I wouldn't drink some.
JACK: Hey, no drinking on the job. It's bad for business. And what if somebody called the cop on you?
DAVID:  (pointing to Snyder) Is he a friend of your's?
JACK: Beat it! It's the bulls!
LES: All this over one sip of beer?
(Snyder chases Jack, David and Les through the streets, and into a building. They run up the stairs and get to the roof. Without stopping for a second, Jack jumps off the roof, leaving David and Les alone. Jack's head pops up and David and Les join him on a ledge just as Snyder enters.)
SNYDER: Sullivan! Wait til I get you back to the Refuge!
(Jack leads David and Les a little more, when David pulls him to a halt outside Irving Hall)
DAVID: I'm not running any further.
(Jack leads the two brothers inside.)
DAVID: I want some answers.
JACK: Shhh!
DAVID: Who was he and why was he chasing you? And what is this Refuge?
JACK: The Refuge is a jail for kids. That guy chasing me was Snyder, the warden.
LES: You were in jail?
JACK: Yeah.
LES: Why?
JACK: Well, I was starving, so I stole some food.
DAVID: Food?
JACK: Yeah, food.
DAVID: He called you Sullivan.
JACK: Well, my name's Kelly. Jack Kelly. You think I'm lying?
DAVID: Well, you have a way of improving the truth. Why was he chasing you?
JACK: 'Cause I escaped.
LES: Oh boy! How?
JACK: Well, this big shot gave me a ride out in his carriage.
DAVID: I bet it was the mayor.
JACK: No, Teddy Roosevelt. You ever heard of him?
MEDDA: What's going on there? Out! Out! Out!
JACK: You wouldn't kick me out without a kiss goodbye, wouldja Medda?
MEDDA: Oh Kelly. Where ya been, kid? Oh, I miss seeing you up in the balcony.
JACK: Hanging on your every word. So Medda.
MEDDA: Yes.
JACK: This is David and Les.
MEDDA: Hello.
JACK: And this is the greatest star of the vaudeville stage today, Miss Medda Larkson, the Swedish Meadowlark.
MEDDA: Welcome, gentlemen.
JACK: Medda also owns the joint.
MEDDA: Oh, what do we have here? Oh, aren't you the cutest little thing that ever was? Yes you are.
LES:  (cough) Buy me last pape, lady?
MEDDA: Oh, you are good. Oh yes, this kid is really good. Speaking as one professional to another, I'd say you have a great future.
JACK: So, is it alright if we stay here for a little while, Medda? Just until a little problem outside goes away.
MEDDA: Sure,stay as long as you like. Toby, just give my guests whatever they want.
ANNOUNCER: And now gents, the moment you've all been waiting for. The sensational songbird. The Swedish Meadowlark, Miss Medda Larkson.
(Medda goes on stage. Jack, David and Les watch from backstage.)

(After the show, the boys go outside)
JACK: So, you like that?
DAVID: Oh,I loved that. I loved it. It was great. She is beautiful. How do you know her?
JACK: She was a friend of me fadder's. Come on, Les, you wanna shine me shoes for me?
DAVID: Oh, it's getting late. My parents are going to be worried. What about your's?
JACK: Nah, they're out west looking for a place to live, like this. (Pulls out a Santa Fe brochure) See, that's Santa Fe, New Mexico. As soon as they find the right ranch, they're gonna send for me.
LES: Then you'll be a real cowboy.
JACK: Yup.
(Fire and loud crashes are heard. The boys run and see a riot breaking out. A group of men are beating up another man.)
DAVID: Jack! Why don't we go to my place and divi up. You can meet my folks.
JACK: It's the trolly strike, Dave. These couple of dumb-asses must not have joined or something.
DAVID: Jack, let's get out of here.
JACK: So, maybe we'll get a good headline tomorrow, Dave.  Look at this, he slept the whole way threw it.
(Jack picks up Les from the bench where he fell asleep. They enter David's house.)
ESTER: My God. What happened?
DAVID: Nothing, mama. He's just sleeping.
MAYER: We've been waiting dinner for you. Where have you been? (David puts a pile of coins on the table.)
MAYER: You made all this selling newspapers?
DAVID: Well, half of it's Jack's. This is our selling partner, and our friend. Jack Kelly, my parents. And that's my sister, Sarah.
MAYER: Ester, maybe David's partner would like to join us for dinner. Why don't you add a little more water to the soup?
(He kisses her. She shoves him away playfully)
ESTER: Mayer!
(After dinner, they talk as Sarah clears the table.)
JACK: So, from wat I saw today, you're boys are a couple of born newsies. Can I have some more?
SARAH: Yes.
JACK: So with their hard work and my experience,I figure we can peddle a thousand papes a week and not even break a sweat.
MAYER: That many?
JACK: More when the headline's good.
SARAH: So what makes the headline good?
JACK: Oh, you know. Catchy words like maniac, or corpse, umm..lovenest, or nude. Excuse me. Maybe I'm talkin' too much.
MAYER:  Sarah? Go get the cake your mother's hiding in the cabinet.
ESTER: That's for your birthday tomorrow!
MAYOR: Well, I've had enough birthdays. This is a celebration.
DAVID: I'll get the knife.
SARAH: I got the plates.
DAVID: This is only the beginning, papa. The longer I work, the more money I'll make.
MAYER: You'll only work until I go back to the factory, and then you are going back to school, like you promised.
SARAH:  Happy birthday, papa.
MAYER: This is going to heal, and they'll give me my job back. We'll make them
(Les stirs, but doesn't wake up in bed.)

(David and Jack start laughing)
ESTER: And what is this David?
(The boys try to stop laughing, but can't. Scene:  LATER THAT NIGHT, on David's fire escape)
JACK: So, how'd your pop get hurt?
DAVID: At the factory. It was an accident. He's no good to them anymore, so they just fired him.
(Mayer appears at the window.)
MAYER: David, it's time to come in now.
DAVID: Alright. Jack, why don't you stay here tonight?
JACK: Ah, no, thanks. I got a place of my own. But you're family's real nice, like mine.
DAVID: See you tomorrow.
JACK: Alright.
DAVID: Carrying the banner.

(David goes inside, leaving Jack alone on the fire escape. He looks in the window and see the family together.)

(Pulitzer, Seitz and Jonathan are sitting it Pulitzer's office.)
PULITZER: I know we need to make more money. That's why we're here, to find out how to make more money.
JONATHAN: I have several proposals. First, to increase the paper's price.
PULITZER: Then Hearst outsells me and I'm in the poorhouse. Brilliant, Jonathan, brilliant.
JONATHAN: Not the customer's price. The price to the distribution apparatus.
SEITZ: Charge the newsies more for their papers? Bad idea, Chief.
JONATHAN: Very well. My next proposal, salary cuts. Particularly those at the top.
SEITZ:  Very bad idea, Chief.
PULITZER: Wait. What do the newsies pay now? 50 cents for 100 papers? If you raise it to 60 cents..
JONATHAN: A mere tenth of a cent per paper.
PULITZER: Multiply by 40, 000 papers a day?  7 days a week?.
JONATHAN: It definitely adds up, sir.
SEITZ:  If you do this, every newsie we've got will head straight for Hearst.
PULITZER: You don't know Hearst like I do, Seitz. As newspapermen, he and I would cut each other's throats to get an advantage. But as gentlemen, as businessmen, if also see eye to eye on certain things. Now, if we do it, Hearst and I, if we do it, then the other papers will do it.
SEITZ: It's going to be awfully tough on those children.
PULITZER: Nonsense, nonsense. It'll be good for them. Incentive, make them work harder, sell more papers. They'll look on it as an advantage.
(Outside the World building, the newsies have gathered. Jack joins them)
KID BLINK: They jacked up the price! You hear that Jack? Ten cents a hundred! You know, it's bad enough that we gotta eat what we don't sell, now they jack up the price! Can you believe that?
SKITTERY: This'll bust me, I'm barely making a living right now.
BOOT: I'll be back sleeping on the streets.
MUSH: It don't make no sense. I mean, all the money Pulitzer's making, why would he gouge us?
RACETRACK: Because he's a tight wad, that's why!
JACK: Pipe down, it's just a gag. So, why the jack up Weasel?
WEASEL: Why not? It's a nice day. Why don'tcha ask Mr. Pulitzer?
KID BLINK: They can't to this to me Jack.
RACETRACK: They can do whatever they want. It's their stinkin' paper.
BOOTS: It ain't fair. We got no rights at all.
RACETRACK: Come on, it's a rigged deck. They got all the marbles.
MUSH: Jack, we got no choice, so why don't we get our lousy papes while they still got some, huh?
JACK: No! Nobody's going anywhere. They can't get away with this!

RACETRACK: Jack, you done thinkin' yet?

JACK: Well, listen. One thing for sure, if we don't sell papes, then nobody sells papes. Nobody comes through those gates until they put the price back to where it was.
DAVID: You mean like a strike?
JACK: Yeah, like a strike!
RACETRACK: Are you out of your mind?
JACK: It's a good idea!
DAVID: Jack, I was only joking. We can't go on strike, we don't have a union.
JACK: But, if we go on strike, then we are a union, right?
DAVID: No, we're just a bunch of angry kids with no money. Maybe if we got every newsie in New York, but...
JACK: Yeah, well we organize. Crutchy, you take up for collection. We get all the newsies of New York together.
DAVID: Jack, this isn't a joke. You saw what happened to those trolley workers.
JACK: Yeah, well that's another good idea. Any newsie don't join with us, then we bust their heads like the trolley workers.
DAVID: Stop and think about this Jack. You can't just rush everybody into this
JACK: Alright. Let me think about it. Listen. Dave's right. Pulitzer and Hearst and all them other rich fellas, I mean, they own this city, so do they really think a bunch of street kids like us can make any difference? The choice has got to be yours. Are we just gonna take what they give us, or are we gonna strike?
LES: Strike!
BOOTS: Keep talking Jack, tell us what to do!
JACK: Well, you tell us what to do Davey.
DAVID: Pulitzer and Hearst have to respect our rights.
JACK: Hey listen! Pulitzer and Hearst have to respect the rights of the working boys of New York! Well, that worked pretty good, so what else?
DAVID: Tell them that they can't treat us like we don't exist.

JACK: Pulitzer and Hearst, they think we're nothing. Are we nothing?
NEWSIES: No!
DAVID: If we stick together like the trolley workers then they can't break us up.
JACK: Pulitzer and Hearst, they think they got us. Do they got us?

DAVID: We're a union now, the Newsboys Union. We have to start acting like a union.
JACK: Even though we ain’t got hats or badges We’re a union just by saying so And the World will know!

RACETRACK: Some of them don’t hear so good!
JACK: Well then we’ll soak ‘em!
DAVID: No! We can’t beat up kids in the streets. It’ll give us a bad name.
CRUTCHY: Can’t get any worse.

MUSH: I got the Battery, Jack.

JACK: Alright. And Bumlets, and Specs and Skittery, you take Queens.  Pie Eater! Snoddy! East Side! Snipeshooter, you go with ‘em. So, what about Brooklyn? Come on, Spot Conlon’s territory. What’sa matta? You scared of Brooklyn?
BOOTS: Hey, we ain’t scared of Brooklyn. Spot Conlon makes us a little nervous.

(Jack and Les enter the World Building. The newsies cheer)
NEWSIES: Strike! Strike! Strike! (etc.)
(The newsies go off in different directions. Denton enters and approaches David.)
DENTON: Hey, what is the strike? What’s going on?
DAVID: We’re bringing out demands to Pulitzer.
DENTON: What demands?
DAVID: The newsies demands. We’re on strike.
DENTON: I’m with the New York Sun. Bryan Denton. You seem like the kid in charge. What’s your name?
DAVID: David
DENTON: David. David as in David and Goliath? You really think old man Pulitzer’s going to listen to your demands?
DAVID: He has to. (Jack and Let thrown out the door.)
JACK: Well, so’s your old lady! You tell Pulitzer he needs an appointment with me!
LES: Yeah!
(Jack, David, Les and Denton are sitting in a booth in Tibby’s Restaurant.)
JACK: So this snooty mug says to me, ‘You can’t see Mr. Pulitzer. No one sees Mr. Pulitzer.’ Real hoity-toity, you know the type?
LES: Real hoity-toity.
JACK: So that’s when I says to him, ‘Listen, I ain’t in the habit of transacting no business with office boys. Just tell him Jack Kelly’s here to see him now!’
LES: That’s when he threw us out.
DENTON: Does he scare you? You’re going up against the most powerful man in New York City.
JACK: Oh yeah, look at me. I’m trembling.
DENTON: Alright, keep me informed. I want to know everything that’s going on.
DAVID: Are we really an important story?
DENTON: Well, what’s important? Last year I covered the war in Cuba. Charged up San Juan Hill with Col. Teddy Roosevelt. That was an important story. So, is the newsie’s strike important? That all depends on you.
JACK: So my name’s really gonna be in the papers?
DENTON: Any objections?
JACK: Not as long as you get it right. It’s Kelly, Jack Kelly. Oh, and Denton? No pictures.
DENTON: Sure Jack. (Jack, David and Boots start across the Brooklyn Bridge.)
DAVID: I’ve never been to Brooklyn, have you?
BOOTS: I spent a month there on night.
(Jack and Boots lean over the side and scream at the top of their lungs.)
DAVID: So, is this Spot Conlon really dangerous?
(The boys get to Brooklyn. There are a lot of tough looking boys.)
BROOKLYN NEWSIE: Going somewhere, Kelly?
(Jack pushes past him. David and Boots follow.)
SPOT: Well, if it ain’t Jack be nimble, Jack be quick.
JACK: I see you moved up in the world, Spot. Got a river view and everything.
(The two boys spit-shake.)
SPOT: Heya Boots. How’s it rollin’?
BOOTS: I got a couple of real good shooters.
(Spot takes the marbles and takes out his sling shot.)
SPOT: Yeah. So, Jacky-boy. I’ve been hearing things from little birds. Things from Harlem, Queens, all over. They been chirpin’ in my ear.  Jacky-boy’s newsies is playing like they’re going on strike.
JACK: Yeah, well we are.
DAVID: We’re not playing. We are going on strike.
SPOT: Oh yeah? Yeah? What is this, Jacky-boy? Some kind of walking mouth?
JACK: Yeah, it’s a mouth. A mouth with a brain, and if you got half a one, you’ll listen to what he’s got to say.
DAVID: Well, we started the strike, but we can’t do it alone. So, we’re talking to newsies all around the city.
SPOT: Yeah, so they told me. But what’d they tell you?
DAVID: They’re waiting to see what Spot Conlon is doing, you’re the key. That Spot Conlon is the most respected and famous newsie in all of New York, and probably everywhere else. And if Spot Conlon joins the strike, then they join and we’ll be unstoppable. So you gotta join, I mean... well, you gotta!
SPOT: You’re right Jacky-boy, brains. But I got brains too, and more than just half a one. How do I know you punks won’t run the first time some goon comes at ya with a club? How do I know you got what it takes to win?
JACK: Because I’m telling you, Spot.
SPOT: That ain’t good enough Jacky-boy. You gotta show me.
(The boys go back to Newsies Square, where the rest of the newsies wait.)
RACETRACK: Jack. So, where’s Spot?
JACK: He was concerned about us being serious. You imagine that?
RACETRACK: Well, Jack, maybe we ought to ease off a little. Without Spot and the others, there ain’t enough of us, Jack.
MUSH: Maybe we’re moving too soon. Maybe we ain’t ready, you know?
SKITTERY: I definitely think we should forget about it for a little while.
JACK: Oh, do ya?
SKITTERY: Yeah.
RACETRACK: Yeah, I mean, without Brooklyn… you know?
JACK: Spot was right, is this just a game to you guys?
(Begin Song)

(The circulation bell begins to ring)
JACK Anybody hear that?
NEWSIES No!
JACK: So what are we gonna do about it?
NEWSIES: Soak ‘em!
(The newsies and the scabbers have a stand off. 3 scabs join with the newsies, but then a bug scab comes up against Jack. He tries to get by, but can’t. The newsies start soaking the scabs, who eventually run away. They tear up the newspapers. Jack starts making faces and blowing raspberries at Weasel, Oscar and Morris through the distribution window.)
MORRIS: I’m gonna crack your dome!
(The tearing of newspapers continue. A delivery cart is pushed onto it’s side. Weasel calls for the cops, who enter blowing whistles.)
JACK: Cheese it! Cheese it, it’s the bulls!
(All the newsies run, except Crutchy, who doesn’t notice)
RACETRACK: Crutchy! Scram! Scram!
(Crutchy starts to leave, but is blocked in by cops. He turns to find the Delancey brothers behind him. They knock his crutch aside and drag him away. Denton has been watching all of this. THAT NIGHT- Jack and David walk to the Refuge. Jack has a rope in his hands)
JACK: So here it is. The Refuge. My home, sweet home.
DAVID: How can you be sure they sent him here?
JACK: How can I be sure the Delancey’s stink? It’s just how things work, you know? An orphan gets arrested, Snyder makes sure he gets sent straight here, so he can rehabilitate him. The more kids in the Refuge, the more money the city sends to take care of them, the more Snyder sticks it in his pocket. He’s here.
DAVID: So how come you brought the rope?
(A carriage exits the Refuge. Jack and David hind in the shadows. As the guard talks with the nuns, the two boys sneak by. On the roof, David lowers Jack, who has the rope tied around his waist. Jack gets level with the window.)
JACK: Steady. Steady, Dave. That’s good.
(Jack knocks on the window. A boy around Les’s age opens it.)
TEN PIN: Hey. Cowboy. You miss the joint?
JACK: What do ya say, Ten Pin. You got a new guy in here. Crutchy.
TEN PIN: The gimp? I’ll get him for ya.
JACK: Hey Crutchy.
(With the help of a boy, Crutchy limps to the window.)
CRUTCHY: I don’t believe it. What are you hanging around here for?
JACK: What do you mean what am I hangin’ around here for? You know who’s on the roof?
CRUTCHY: Who?
JACK: Dave.
CRUTCHY: Is that Dave? Heya Dave! How ya doin’?
DAVID:: Shhh.
JACK: Listen, Crutchy, go get your stuff. We’re gonna get you outta here.
CRUTCHY: Well, actually, I ain’t walking so good. Oscar and Morris kindda worked me over a little bit, you know?
JACK: They hurt you? Don’t worry about it. Me and Dave, we can carry you outta here.
CRUTCHY: I don’t want nobody carrying me, you hear? Hey, Dave! You know, they still talk about how Jack rode outta here on that coach.
DAVID: Oh, yeah. Teddy Roosevelt’s, right?
CRUTCHY: You already heard the story.
DAVID: You mean it’s true?
CRUTCHY: Of course. Hey! Cheese it!
(Snyder enters and inspects the room. Jack swings to the side, out of site. As Snyder is about to look out the window, Crutchy grabs his arm.)
CRUTCHY: Mr. Warden Snyder, sir. You know, I was thinking. I’d just like you to know that when you were taking a nap this afternoon…
(Crutchy leads Snyder away from the window and Jack leaves. THE NEXT MORNING- Pulitzer, Weasel and Seitz are inside Pulitzer’s office.)
SEITZ: I don’t think they’re just going to go away, Chief.
WEASEL: Mr. Pulitzer, sir, just give me the means and I’ll take care of them for ya.
PULITZER: I’ll give you whatever means you require. I want this nonsense down with once and for all.
SEITZ: Chief…
PULITZER: Shut you mouth, Seitz
(Weasel and Seitz leave. Snyder looks out the window to the square where the newsies have gathered.)
NEWSIES: Open the gates and seize the day Don’t be afraid and don’t delay Nothing can break us No one can make us Give our rights away Arise and seize the day
(The boys dance in the square and block the entrance to the World building. A delivery cart rushes through. The newsies and scabs have another stand off.)
DAVID: Alright. Everyone remain calm.
JACK: Let’s soak ‘em for Crutchy!
(The newsies charge towards the scabs, who retreat. A large door opens and big men with clubs and chains come out)
RACETRACK: Jack! Jack!, the Crib!
(the men form a circle around Jack so none of the newsies can help him. The gates shut and Denton can’t get in to help.)
OSCAR: Heya Jacky-boy (Jack faces a man with a chain. Outside, Denton tried to get in.)
DENTON: Aren’t you going to stop them, sir?
POLICEMAN: Move along, mister.
(Just as all hope seems lost for Jack, a bunch of newsies appear on the rooftops, including Spot.)
SPOT: Never fear, Brooklyn is here.
MUSH: It’s Brooklyn!
(The newsies start to soak the Crib, the Brooklyn boys using their sling shots. Racetrack throws his hands in the air and sit on a ledge….)
RACETRACK: Hey, I give up. Alright, alright. I give up.
(…then kicks the guy *you know where*)
JACK: Hey, Spot!
(Shots of Newsies punching the scabs. First Racetrack, then Jack, Kid Blink and another. Skittery get hits and falls back. Newsies catch him)
DAVID: Are you alright?
(Before he can answer, the newsies push him back up and he punches the man back. Spot opens the gates and the Brooklyn gang join. They force the Crib back. The newsies cheer and tear some more papers. Denton enters with him camera.)
DENTON: Jack! Boys! Freeze! Freeze!
JACK: Alright guys
(Denton takes the picture. Jack is the only one ready for it. The others all have weird expressions on their faces. The picture turns black and white and appears on the cover of the New York Sun under the headline ‘The Children’s Crusade; Newsies Stop the World’. NEXT DAY- The newsies are in Tibby’s. Denton enters with the paper.)
DENTON: Hey fellas. Hey, hey! Big time.
BOOTS: What you got there Jack?
SPOT: Where’s me picture? Where’s me picture?
BOOTS: What’s that? That all about us?
MUSH: Look at that Jack. You look like a gentlemen
JACK: Will you get your fingers off me face?
SPOT: Where does it say my name? Where’s my name?
JACK: Will you quit thinking about yourself?
DAVID: You got us on the front page!
DENTON: You got yourselves on the front page. I just got to make sure you stay there.
SKITTERY: So what. You get your picture in the papes, so what’s that get you, huh?
MUSH: What are you talkin’ about?
JACK: Shut up, boy. You been in a bad mood all day!
SKITTERY: I’m not in a bad mood!
RACETRACK: Glum and dumb. What’s the matta with you?  You get your picture in the papes, your famous. Your famous, you get anything you want. That’s what so great about New York!
(Begin Song)
MUSH: A pair of new shoes with matching laces
RACETRACK: A permanent box at Sheepshed Races.
SPOT: A porcelain tub with boiling water
KID BLINK: A Saturday night with the mayor’s daughter!
RACETRACK: Look at me I’m the King of New York! Suddenly I’m respectable Staring right atcha Lousy with stature
JACK: Nubbin’ with all the muckety-mucks I’m blowin’ my dough and goin’ deluxe!
RACETRACK: And there I’ll be Ain’t I pretty?
RACETRACK & JACK: It’s my city I’m the king of New York!
BOOTS: A corduroy suit with fitted knickers
LES: A mezzanine seat to see the flickers
SNIPESHOOTER: Havana cigars that cost a quarter
DAVID: An editor’s desk for our star reporter!
NEWSIES: Tip your hat He’s the King of New York!
DENTON: How ‘bout that? I’m the King of New York!
NEWSIES: In nothing flat He’ll be covering Brooklyn to Trenton Our man Denton
KID BLINK: Making a headline out of a hunch
DENTON: Protecting the weak
RACETRACK: And paying for lunch
DENTON: When I’m at bat Strong men crumble
RACETRACK: Proud yet humble

NEWSIES: I gotta be either dead or dreaming ’Cuz look at that pape with my face beaming Tomorrow they may wrap fishes in it But I was a star for one whole minute! Starting now I’m the King of New York!
DENTON: Ain’t you hear? I’m the King of New York!
NEWSIES: Holy cow! It’s a miracle Pulitzer’s crying Weasel? He’s dying! Flashpots are shooting bright as the sun I’m one hifalutin’ sonuva gun! Don’t ask me how Fortune found me Fate just crowned me Now I’m King of New York! Look and see Once a piker Now a striker I’m the Kin of New York! Victory! Front page story Guts and glory I’m the King of New York!
(The newsies cheer and gather around a table)
JACK: So, let’s have some ideas.
DAVID: Well, we gotta show people where we stand
JACK: Yeah, so we gotta stay in the papes.
DENTON: My paper’s the only one printing any strike news so far
JACK: So, we should do something that’s so big the other papers’ll feel stupid if they try to ignore us. Like a rally. A newsie rally with all the kids from all over New York. It’ll be the biggest, loudest, noisiest blow-out this town’s ever seen!
DAVID: We’ll send a message to the big boys
RACETRACK: Geesh, I’ll give ‘em a message.
(A waiter brings a tray of cokes. Each newsie grabs a glass.)
JACK: There’s a lot of us, and we ain’t going away. We’ll fight until damn Doomsday if it means we get a fair shake.
DAVID: Hey, guys. To out man Denton.
NEWSIES: Our man Denton!
(The newsies lift their glasses in a toast. IN THE REFUGE- Crutchy knocks on Snyder’s door and enters.)
CRUTCHY: Heya Mr. Snyder. How was your supper?
(As he begins to put the plates on a tray, Crutchy notices Snyder looking at the paper, particularly at Jack’s picture.)
CRUTCHY: Hey! That’s Jack. He looks just like himself.
SNYDER: You know this boy?
CRUTCHY: No.
SNYDER: You have a very famous friend, this Jack. Do you know where he lives?
CRUTCHY: I never heard of him, honest! It’s this brain of mine, it’s always making mistakes. It’s got a mind of it’s own. Can I get you anything else, Mr. Snyder? Good bye Mr. Snyder.
(Crutchy leaves, realizing his mistake. THAT NIGHT- The newsies are making signs for the rally. Dutchy’s sign says ‘STRIKE’)
DUTCHY: So, did I spell it right, Kloppman?
KLOPPMAN: Very good, very good.
(Snyder enters and starts going through Kloppman’s book)
KLOPPMAN: Excuse me. Can I help you?
SNYDER: You have a boy who calls himself Jack Kelly? I wish to see him
KLOPPMAN: Jack Kelly? Never heard of him. Never heard of him. Any of you boys ever hear of a Jack Kelly?
SPECS: That’s an unusual name for these parts.
(Jack enters, but Swifty stops him and points Snyder out to him)
RACETRACK: Oh, you mean Jack Kelly. Yeah, he was here, but he put an egg in his shoe and beat it.
SNYDER: I have reason to believe he’s an escaped prisoner, possibly dangerous.
KLOPPMAN: Oh, dangerous? I better look in my files. This way please.
(Kloppman distracts Snyder and Jack exits. The boys hold up signs to hide him)
RACETRACK: Give to the Newsies Strike fund, Mister?
(Snyder hands Racetrack a coin. THE NEXT MORNING- Sarah wakes up and looks out the window. She sees Jack on the fire escape)
SARAH: Did you sleep out there all night?
JACK: Yeah
SARAH: Why didn’t you wake us up?
JACK: Well, I didn’t want to disturb nobody. Besides, it’s like the Waldorph out here. Great view. Cool air
SARAH: Go up on the roof.
(Jack leaves so Sarah can get dressed. While he waits, he boxes with some stockings and steals a tomato off a plant. Sarah enters with a basket.)
SARAH: Are you hungry?
JACK: Yeah
SARAH: Good. I made you breakfast
(She lays down a clothe and gets the food and milk.)
SARAH: Papa’s so proud of you and David. You should hear him talking about Jack Kelly, strike leader, who occasionally takes his meal with us.
JACK: Well, this is one strike leader who’s gonna be very happy when it’s all over and I can get outta here and go to Santa Fe. I mean, there’s nothing for me to stay for, is there? You know, you should se Santa Fe, everything’s different there. It’s all bigger. The desert, the sky, the sun
SARAH: It’s the same sun as here
JACK: Yeah, it just looks different
SARAH: I should get ready for work
JACK: Sarah? I’m just not used to having whether I stay or whether I go matta to anybody. I’m not saying it should matta to you. I’m just saying, well, does it? Matta?
(Pulitzer is in his office with the Mayor, the Police Chief, Snyder and Seitz. He is looking at the paper and has Jack’s face circled.)
MAYOR: Of course, the city is very concerned that this event doesn’t get out of hand. But…Chief?
CHIEF: We can’t just charge in there and break it up, Mr. Pulitzer. We’ve got no legal cause.
MAYOR: Legal cause.
PULITZER: Would the fact that this rally is organized by an escaped criminal be cause enough, mayor?
MAYOR: Escaped criminal?
PULITZER: A fugitive from one of your prisons, mayor. A convicted thief. Been living at large for some time under the allis of Jack Kelly. What’s his real name?
SNYDER: Sullivan. Francis Sullivan. Your honor. I would have caught him before now, but..
PULITZER: You know Warder Snyder, don’t you mayor? I believe you know him because you appointed him.
MAYOR: Yes. Well, if this boy’s a fugitive then the chief can quietly arrest him.
PULITZER: No, no, no, no! Not quietly! Not quietly! I want an example made. I want this rabble he’s roused to see what happens to those who would dare to lead. They should see justice and action.
MAYOR: Arrest him at the rally?
PULITZER: By the way, mayor, a few friends for cards tonight. Newspaper friends. Billy Hearst, Gordon Bennett. Perhaps you’ll join us.  Talk about the coming election.
MAYOR: I’d be honored.
(Newsies are gathering outside Irving Hall. Inside, Jack, David and Spot are on stage. Jack quiets everyone)
JACK: Carryin’ the banner!
(The newsies stand up and cheer.
MEANWHILE- In Pulitzer’s study, men are sitting at a table, playing cards. Pulitzer leads the mayor around the table)
PULITZER: You know Gordon, mayor. Mr. Bennett of the Tribune. Mr. Taylor of the Times. Of course, you know Mr. Hearst. This is a new member of our little group, Mr. Gammon. He just came back from Europe. Mr. Gammon owns the New York Sun.
(Back in the theater, Jack is giving a speech.)
JACK: So, we’ve come a long way, but we ain’t there yet and maybe it’s only gonna get tougher from now on. But that’s fine, we’ll just get tougher with it. But also, we gotta get smart and start listening to my pal David, who says ‘stop soakin’ the scabs’.
RACETRACK: What are we supposed to do to the bums? Kiss ‘em?
SPOT: Any scab I see I soak ‘em. Period.
DAVID: No, no. That’s what they want us to do. If we get violent, it’s just playing into their hands.
SPOT: Hey, look. They’re gonna be playing with my hands, alright. 'Cuz it ain’t what they say, it’s what we say. And nobody ain’t gonna listen to us unless we make ‘em.
(Newsies in the crowd take different sides and start to argue.)
JACK: You got no brains. Why we starting to fight each other? It’s just what the big shot’s wanna see. That we’re street rats! Street rats with no brain’s. No respect for nothing, including ourselves! So, here’s how it’s gonna be. If we don’t act together, then we’re nothing. If we don’t stick together, then we’re nothing. And if we can’t even trust each other, then we’re nothing.
KID BLINK: Tell ‘em Jack!
JACK: So, what’s it gonna be?
RACETRACK: We’re with you Jack.
JACK: So, what about you, Spot?
SPOT: I say that what you say is what I say.
(The spit-shake. All the newsies cheer. The curtains open and Medda enters. The cheering gets louder.)
MEDDA & NEWSIES: High times, hard times Sometimes the living is sweet And sometimes there’s nothing to eat But I always land on my feet So when there’s dry times I wait for high times and then I put on my best And I stick out my chest And I’m off to the race’s again!
MEDDA: Hello, newsies. What’s new?
(Outside, the Crib and police are gathering. Snyder enters)
MEDDA: So your old lady don’t love you no more So you’re afraid there’s a wolf at your door So you’ve got street rats that scream in your ear
MEDDA & NEWSIES: You win some, you lose some my dear, Oh… High times, hard times Sometimes the living is sweet And sometimes there’s nothing to eat But I always land on my feet So when there’s dry times I wait for high times and then I put on my best And I stick out my chest And I’m off to the races again
MEDDA: I put on my best!
NEWSIES: I put on my best!
MEDDA: And I stick out my chest
NEWSIES: And I sticks out my chest

ALL: To the races again!
(The police block off the entrance to the theater. Denton sees Snyder and tries to keep him busy)
DENTON: Excuse me. Aren’t you Warden Snyder? Bryan Denton of the Sun. How do you do, sir?
(David sees Snyder and tells Spot)
DENTON: I heard about your wonderful work with the children and I wondered if I might get an interview with you
(David rushes through the crowd to Jack)
DAVID: Jack! Jack! It’s Snyder!
JACK: What?
DAVID: It’s Snyder. Right there!
(Denton tries to distract Snyder one more time. This time with his camera)
DENTON: Let me get that correct. That’s Snyder, as in snide? Smile sir!
(The flash blinds him for a minute, then he blows his whistle.)
JACK: Medda, thanks. I gotta run.
(Cops come in and the newsies scatter. Jack take’s Sarah’s hand and pulls her through the crowd. Racetrack gets Medda to safety and start to leave)
MEDDA: No! Stay with me!
(A huge man kicks Racetrack in the stomach and punches him out. Medda breaks away from her maid and slaps the man)
MEDDA: No! No! For God’s sake! He’s just a child! Can’t you see that? Racetrack!
(Medda is pulled back and Racetrack is dragged away. Jack and David get Sarah and Les to safety. Then turn back to fight. Everywhere they go, they are surrounded by cops or the crib. By Medda’s swing, they meet up with Snyder. David sits on the swing.)
DAVID: Push me!
(Jack shoves David, who hits Snyder in the face.)
DAVID: Get out of here! Go!
(Jack runs as David and some other newsies hold Snyder off. Jack and Kid Blink run outside and find they are surrounded by cops. One of them grabs for Jack, but Kid Blink shoves him away.)
KID BLINK: Beat it!
(Jack runs back inside. Kid Blink gets hit with a club and is dragged away. Jack starts to run up the stairs, but a man meets him at the top and punches him in the chin. Jack falls back and is caught by cops. THE NEXT DAY- the newsies are in court.)
BAILIFF: All rise. All rise. Court is now in session. Judge E.A. Monahan presiding. MONAHAN: Are any of you boys represented by council? No? Good, that will move things along considerably.
SPOT: Hey, yer honor, I object!
MONAHAN: On what grounds?
SPOT: On the grounds of Brooklyn, yer honor.
(The newsies crack up laughing. Monahan bangs on his desk.)
MONAHAN: I fine each of you five dollars, or two weeks confinement in the House of Refuge.
RACETRACK: Whoa. We ain’t got five bucks. We don’t even got five cents. Hey, yer honor, how ‘bout I roll you for it. Double or nothing?
MONAHAN: Alright. Move along, move along.
(Denton, David and Les enter)
DENTON: Your honor, I’ll pay the fines. All of them.
DAVID: Hey, you fellas alright? Where’s Jack?
DENTON: Look, we’ve got to meet at the restaurant. Everybody. We have to talk.
MONAHAN: Pay the clerk. Move it along.
(Jack is lead in, handcuffed)
JACK: Hey fellas!
RACETRACK: Hey, Cowboy! Nice shiner!
JACK: Hey, Denton. I guess we made all the papes this time. So, how’s my picture look?
DENTON: None of the papers covered the rally. Not even the Sun.
BAILIFF: Case of Jack Kelly. Inciting a riot. Assault. Resisting arrest.
SNYDER: Judge Monahan, I’ll speak for this young man.
JACK: You two know each other. Ain’t that nice.
MONAHAN: Just move it along, Warden Snyder.
SNYDER: This boy’s real name is Francis Sullivan. His mother’s deceased. His father’s a convict in the state penitentiary. He’s an escapee from the House of Refuge where his original sentence for three months was extended to six moths for disruptive behavior.
JACK: Like demanding we eat the food you steal from us.
SNYDER: Followed by an additional six months for attempted escape.
JACK: Attempted? Last time it wasn’t an attempted escape. Remember Snyder? Remember me and Teddy Roosevelt? Remember Roosevelt and the carriage?
SNYDER: Therefore, I ask that he be returned to the House of Refuge.
JACK: What? For my own good, right? Move it along? For my own good and for what he kicks back to you!
SNYDER: I ask that the court order his incarceration until the age of twenty-one, in the hope that we may yet guide him to a useful and productive life.
MONAHAN: So ordered.
LES: No!
(Jack is led away. Snyder follows, then turns and smiles at the judge. LATER- The newsies sit in Tibby’s. Denton enters. They greet him)
DAVID: Why didn’t the Sun print the story?
DENTON: Because it never happened
RACETRACK: What do you mean it never happened? You were there!
KID BLINK: You wrote it!
DENTON: It’s not in the papers, it never happened. The owners decreed it not be in the papers, therefore… I came to tell you fellas good bye.
DAVID: What happened? Did you get fired or something?
DENTON: No, I got reassigned back to my old job as the Sun’s ace war correspondent. They want me to leave right away. The owner thinks I should only cover the really important stories. Wish me luck fellas. At least half of what I wish for you. They don’t always fire. I would be black balled from every paper in the country. I’m a newspaper man. I have to have a paper to write for. This is the story I wrote about the rally. I want you to read it at least. This should cover it
(Denton pays the waiter and leaves. David crumples the story up and throws it on a table)
DAVID: We get Jack out of the Refuge tonight. From now on, we trust no one but the newsies.
(The newsies get up and leave. Les uses Denton’s article to wrap his unfinished hot dog in. THAT NIGHT- David, Les, Mush, Kid Blink, Racetrack and Boots sneak into the Refuge’s gates. Kid Blink had a rope.)
DAVID: That’s the window where we saw Crutchy
(They are about to move when they see Snyder leading Jack into a carriage.)
LES: It’s Jack!
MUSH: Where they takin’ him Dave?
DAVID: Only one way to find out. I’ll meet you guys at the square. Racetrack, watch him.
(David hides in the back of the carriage, which goes to Pulitzer’s house. Seitz is waiting outside for them.)
SEITZ: Get him inside
(Snyder takes Jack’s arm and leads him in. David pulls out the pin that attaches the horses to the carriage. INSIDE- Seitz leaves Jack in Pulitzer’s study. Pulitzer enters.)
PULITZER: Sit. Know what I was doing at your age, boy? I was in a war. The Civil War.
JACK: Yeah, I heard of it. So, didja win?
PULITZER: People think war is about right or wrong and not power.
JACK: Yeah, I heard of that too. I don’t just sell your papes, Joe. Sometime I read ‘em.
PULITZER: Power of the press is the greatest power of them all. I tell this city how to think. I tell this city how to vote. I shape it’s future.
JACK: Yeah? Well, right now I’m only thinking about one future, and that’s mine.
PULITZER: So am I boy. I have the power to see you stay locked in the Refuge
JACK: And I have the power to break out again.
PULITZER: Or, I can see you released tomorrow, free and clear, with more money in your pockets than you can earn in three lifetimes.
JACK: Are you bribin’ me, Joe?
PULITZER: No
JACK: Well, it’s been real nice chattin’ with ya, Joe. But I got to be goin’ now.
PULITZER: You listen to me, boy. You just shut your mouth and listen to me! You shut up and listen to me for once! No game I’m playing.  You work for me til the strike’s over, and it will end, boy, make no mistake, with or without you. Then you go where ever you want to buy a ticket for. Away from the Refuge, these foul streets. Free. With money to spend and nobody chasing you.
JACK: We must have you scared pretty bad, old man
PULITZER: I offer you freedom and money just to work for me again. To your friends, I won’t be so kind. Now, you’re partner, what’s his name? David. I understand he has a family. What do you think the Refuge will do to him? And it will be you who put him there. And all the others, after all, you’re their leader. Go back to the Refuge tonight, think about it. Give me your answer in the morning.
(Jack leaves. As he is being taken outside, Snyder lets go of him for one second)
DAVID: Jack! Come on! Come on!
(Jack slides down the railing and jumps over it. He and David take off)
SNYDER: After him!
(The driver whips the horses, who take off without the carriage.)
SEITZ: Don’t worry. He’s got no place to go
(David and Jack run into an alley. Jack slows down)
DAVID: Come on! Keep running!
JACK: You shouldn’t have done this, Dave. They could put you in jail
DAVID: I don’t care
JACK: Come here. What about your family? What happened to them if you go in jail. You don’t know nothing about jail. Now, thanks for what you done, but you get out of here
DAVID: I don’t understand
JACK: I don’t understand either, but just get outta here!
DAVID: No!
JACK: Go!
(David turns slowly and walks away. Jack leans against a wall.  Suddenly, he’s leaning against a wall in the Refuge.)
JACK: Santa Fe My old friend I can’t spend my whole life hidin’ You’re the only light that’s guidin’ me today
(Crutchy opens a little slot in the door. He has a potato)
CRUTCHY: Psst! Jack! Look! I snitched it off Snyder’s plate while I was serving him. It’s the biggest one. Oh, Mr. Snyder was eating good tonight. You know the stuff that we don’t ever get? He got potatoes, olives, liver, bacon, sauerkraut. And guess what I done to his sauerkraut, huh?
JACK: So, what’d it get ya?
CRUTCHY: Oh, anudder three months, probably, but you can’t let ‘em get you, right Jack? That’s what you always said...
JACK: We was beat when we was born
(Crutchy frowns and closes the slot)
JACK: Will you keep a candle burnin’ Will you help me find my way? You’re my chance to break free And who knows when my next one will be Santa Fe, Wait for me
(The newsies are picketing outside the World building.)
NEWSIES: Stop the World! No more papes! Stop the World! No more papes! (etc.)
(The police form a barricade. Some of the newsies start to fight amongst themselves.)
DAVID: Race! Help me! I need some help!
RACETRACK: Alright! I ain’t deaf!
SPOT: Hey, hey, hey! Break it up. Hey, Race, come here.
(Weasel leads Jack out. He’s in a new suit)
RACETRACK: What?
SPOT: Just tell me I’m seeing things. Just tell me I’m seeing things.
RACETRACK: No, you ain’t seeing things. That’s Jack. What’s he doing?
SPOT: He’s dressed like a scabber!
MUSH: Jack? Jack, look at me, will ya? Come on, it’s me, Mush. Look at me. What are you doin’, Jack?
KID BLINK: This ain’t happening. This can’t be happening. What are you doin’ Jack? Come on, what are you doin’?
BOOTS: Come on. What is this? Where’d you get them clothes?
WEASEL: Mr. Pulitzer picked them out himself. A special gift to a special new employee.
SPOT: He sold us out!
RACETRACK: I’ll give you a new suit! You bum! I’ll soak ya!
SPOT: Hey, hey, hey! Let me get my hands dirty. Come here you dirty rotten scabber! Traitor!
(Some newsies pull Spot away. David stares at Jack)
WEASEL: Aww. You wanna talk to him? Come on, come on. Sure. Got right ahead.
(David walks up to Jack)
DAVID: So, this is why you didn’t escape last night. You’re a liar! You lied about everything. You lied about your father being out west, ‘cause he’s not out west! You didn’t even tell me your real name!
JACK: So? What you wanna do about it Dave?
DAVID: I don’t understand you.
JACK: Oh, so let me spell it out for ya. You see, I ain’t got nobody tucking me in at night, like you. It’s just me, I gotta look out for myself.
DAVID: You had the newsies..
JACK: Oh, what’d being a newsies ever give me but a dime a day and a few black eyes? You know, I can’t afford to be a kid no more, Dave.  For the first time in my life, I got money in my pockets. Real money. Money, you understand? I got more on the way and as soon as I collect, I’m gone, I’m away. Alright?
DAVID: Well, that’s good. That’s good because we don’t need you! We don’t need you! All those words you said, those were mine.
JACK: Yeah, but you never had the guts to put them across yourself, didja?
DAVID: I do now
(Dave starts to go back to the newsies, then turns to look at Jack again.)
JACK: What’sa matta? Got a problem?
(David rushes towards Jack, but Weasel and a few policemen pull him away.)
WEASEL: Maybe you’d like a new suit of your own, huh?
DAVID: Never! Never!
WEASEL: Get outta here! Get outta here!
DAVID: I’m not like you!
(The cops surround Jack so the newsies can’t get him. The newsies watch him go.)
SPOT: Traitor!
KID BLINK: You make me sick!
BOOTS: I trusted you!
RACETRACK: Seize the day, huh Jack?
LES: He’s foolin’ ‘em, so he can spy on ‘em or something. Yeah, yeah, that’s it. He’s foolin’ ‘em!
RACETRACK: Yeah, he’s spying on then, kid.
(Sarah is going through a pile of lace. She finds Les’s old hot dog)
SARAH: Les. What is this?
LES: Savin’ it
(He takes the hot dog and leaves the article in Sarah’s hands. She looks at it.)
SARAH: David. It’s Denton’s article. ‘The Dark Truth; Why Our City Really Fears The Newsies Strike’ by Bryan Denton. ‘Last night I saw naked force exercised against mere boys, the newsies, who were…’
(David climes out the window, slams it, then storms off the fire escape. THAT NIGHT-Weasel leads Jack to his new bedroom, the basement of the World building.)
WEASEL: One trick, Cowboy, and it’s right back to the Refuge. Please.
(He throws a dust covered sheet to Jack.)
WEASEL: Ah. You gonna be requiring anything this evening?  Huh? No? Aww..tick tick. Well then, I ought to be saying good night.  Remember, on trick and I go straight to Mr. Pulitzer.
(He exits, leaving Jack alone. MORNING- Jack goes to collect his papers. Oscar and Morris come up behind him.)
WEASEL: Sleep well Cowboy?
OSCAR: Come with us Cowboy. We’re gonna go fix you’re pal, Davey. Fix him so he can’t walk.
MORRIS: Shut up
(Jack starts to go after them.)
WEASEL: Ah! Lift one finger and it’s right back to the Refuge. Next!
(Jack picks up his papers and leaves. LATER THAT MORNING- Sarah is walking to work with Les. She has a basket full of lace.)
SARAH: Morning LADY: Good mornin’, dear.
(Oscar ‘bumps’ into her)
OSCAR: ’Cuse me, Sweetface.
(She continues to walk with Oscar behind her. Morris steps out in front of her.)
MORRIS: Where’s your little brother, Tootsie? Where’s little Davey?
(Sarah tries to get by, but the brothers push her around.)
LES: Leave my sister alone!
(He shoves Oscar. Morris holds onto Sarah while Oscar pushed Les into a puddle.)
SARAH: Stop it! Leave him alone!
(Oscar shoves Les into a pile of baskets. Sarah shoves Morris away.)
SARAH: You stupid ape.
(She punches him, but it doesn’t hurt him. She runs into the alley. The brothers catch her. David sees Les and helps him up.)
DAVID: What’s the matter? Are you alright?
LES: I’m alright, I’m alright. Help Sarah!
SARAH: Run Davey!
OSCAR: Yeah, run Davey. We got the best part of your family right here.
(David tackles Oscar.)
SARAH: Let go of me!
(Morris throws her to the ground. Oscar punches David)
SARAH: Stop it! Les! Stop, you’re hurting him! No!
(Morris pulls out a pair of brass knuckles and puts them on.)
SARAH: Leave him alone!
(Oscar continues to punch David. Les runs to Sarah. Jack is walking down the street near the alley.)
SARAH: Stop it! Leave him alone!
(Jack hears her cries and runs, dropping his papers as he goes. Oscar holds David as Morris gets ready to hit him with the knuckles.  Jack comes up behind Morris and punches him. David gives Oscar an elbow in the stomach. Jack throws Morris into a box)
JACK: Get over here.
(Jack grabs Oscar)
JACK: Remember Crutchy?
(Jack head-butts him and he falls near Morris. Jack goes to help Sarah up)
JACK: You alright?
SARAH: Yeah.
(The hug briefly)
SARAH: David!
(Jack goes to David and checks him out before helping him up. Oscar and Morris finally get up.)
MORRIS: You’d better run, Cowboy. We’re gonna tell uncle Weas. You’ll be back in the Refuge before suppertime!
OSCAR: Run, you lousy coward, run!
(Jack starts to go after them, but Sarah stops him. Les runs to the end of the alley.)
LES: Go one! Get outta here! Don’t come back! You hear me?
DAVID: What? You couldn’t stay away?
JACK: Well, I guess I can’t be something I ain’t.
DAVID: A scab?
JACK: No, smart.
(The four of them go to Denton’s apartment. Jack knocks on the door. Denton opens it.)
JACK: Did you mean what you wrote here? ‘Bout all these sweat shop kids listening to me?
DENTON: I don’t write anything I don’t mean. Come on in. I’m just packing a few things.
(They enter. David closes the door.)
DENTON: So, yes, I mean it. The city thrives on child labour. A lot of people make money that way. They’re terrified that the newsies strike will spread.
JACK: Well, there’ really not much chance of that as long as they got the power
DENTON: Sometimes, all it takes is a voice, one voice. Then a thousand. Unless it’s silenced.
JACK: Why can’t we spread the strike? Have another big rally and get the word out to all the sweat shop kids? Why not?
DAVID: What are we going to do? Print an ad in the newspaper?
JACK: No! We’ll do better than that. We’ll make our own paper. We tell ‘em they gotta join us. Isn’t that a good idea?
DAVID: Yeah, it is. But what do we know about printing a newspaper?
JACK: Nothing, but our man Denton…
DAVID: Yeah, but our man Denton has something more important to do. He’s going to be an ace war correspondent, right Denton?
DENTON: Alright. Where do we start?
(They sit at a table)
JACK: Alright, we gotta move fast. Now, we’ll need the newsies to circulate.
DENTON: There’s something else that we need. We need a printing press.
JACK: Just so happens I know a guy with a printing press.
(Jack, Sarah, David and Denton enter the basement of the World building.)
SARAH: You’ve been living here?
JACK: Shh. They’re right above us. Weasel catches us here, we’re all in the slammer.
(Jack uncovers a press)
DENTON: Alright! A Platen press. Looks like old man Pulitzer never threw anything away.
DAVID: Is it going to work?
DENTON: It better. We have a deadline.
(They start printing their papers.)
DENTON: This is the story you wanted to write, well tonight is the night that you can
JACK: Just get this done and by dawn’t early light you can finish the fight you began
DAVID: This time we’re in it to stay
SARAH: Think about seizing the day
JACK: Think of that train as she rolls into old Santa Fe   Tell her I’m on my way
NEWSIES: See old man Pulitzer snug in his bed He don’t care if we’re dead or alive Three satin pillows are under his head While we’re begging for bread to survive Joe, if you’re still counting sheep Wake up and read ‘em and weep You’ve got your thugs With their sticks and their slugs Yeah, but we got a promise to keep Once and for all Something tells me the tide will be turning Once and for all There’s a fire inside me that wont stop burning Now that the choices are clear Now that tomorrow is here Watch how the mighty will fall For once and for all!
(Jack hands bundles of papers to the newsies. Denton and Jack crawl out the window.)
DENTON: It’s awfully nice of Mr. Pulitzer to let us use his press
JACK: Yeah, I just hope I get to thank him for it someday.
(The newsies spread out and hand the papers to various work kids.)
NEWSIES: This is for kids shining shoes on the streets With no shoes on their feet everyday This is for guys sweating blood in the shops While their bosses and cops look away This is to even the score We ain’t just newsies no more This ain’t just kids with some pie in the sky This is do it or die This is war! Once and for all We’ll be there to defend one another Once and for all Every kid is a friend Every friend a brother Five thousand fists in the sky Five thousand reasons to try We’re going over the wall Better to die than to crawl Either we stand or we fall For once Once and for all!
(Denton is with Teddy Roosevelt, who has just read the Newsies Banner)
ROOSEVELT: Disgraceful, Denty. Those poor boys.
DENTON: I thought you’d feel this way, Governor.
ROOSEVELT: And I did nothing, until now
DENTON: Good.
(They shake hands and Roosevelt is handed his hat and walking stick. LATER THAT DAY- The newsies have gathered around the Horace Greeley statue None of the work kids have showed up.)
MUSH: So, when's the others coming, kid?
JACK: They ain’t coming. Ain’t gonna be nobody but us.
SNITCH: Come on, Jack.
SPECS: Have hope, Jack.
(Les walks away from the group.)
LES: When the circulation bell starts ringing, will we hear it?
RACETRACK: Nah. What if the Delancey’s come out swinging, will we hear it?
LES: No!
RACETRACK: That a boy!
WORK KIDS: When you’ve got a million voices singing Who can hear a lousy whistle blow? And the World will know!
(Work kids come in from all directions. The newsies cheer. Spot enters, leading in all of the Brooklyn kids.)
SPOT: Brooklyn!
NEWSIES & WORK KIDS: The World will feel the fire and finally know!
(Everyone cheers. The newsies and Sarah make their way threw the crowd.)
WORK KIDS: Strike! Strike! Strike! (etc.)
(The newsies make their way to the front of the World Building.)
RACETRACK: Dear me. What have we here?
(Seitz and a group of policemen are by the entrance, looking out into the crowd. INSIDE- Pulitzer is at his desk. Seitz brings in Jack and David. Jonathan grabs his arm and whispers.)
JONATHAN: It’s awful. Everyone’s calling. Mr. Hearst, and Mr. Bennett, and the mayor in such awful language. The city’s at a stand still and they all blame the chief. It’s like the end of the World, only I didn’t say that.
(Jack and David go to Pulitzer’s desk, where Jack pulls out a copy of the newspaper.)
JACK: Extry, extry, Joe. Read all about it.
PULITZER: I promised that if you defied me, I’d break you. I’ll keep that promise, boy. Now, I gave you a chance to be free. I don’t understand. Anyone who doesn’t act in their own self interest is a fool.
DAVID: Then what does that make you?
PULITZER: What?
JACK: Oh, this is my pal, Davey. The Walkin’ mouth
DAVID: You talk about self interest, but since the strike, your circulation’s been down 70%. Everyday you’re losing thousands of dollars just to beat us out of one lousy tenth of a cent. Why?
JACK: You see, it ain’t about the money, Dave. It Joe gives in to nobodies like us, it means we got the power. And he can’t do that, no matter what it costs. Am I right, Joe?
PULITZER: I sent for the police. They must be here by now. Send them in, Seitz
JACK: I’m not going back to jail, Joe. Look out here. Right out here is where the power is.
(Jack opens the window. All the kids are still yelling Pulitzer covers his ears)
PULITZER: Close the window! Close the window! Go home! Go home! Go home!
JACK: I can’t hear you , Joe!
PULITZER: Go home! Go home to your mothers and fathers! Go home!
JACK: I don’t hear ya!
PULITZER: Now you listen to me!
JACK: Maybe you should listen!
PULITZER: No, no! You listen to me!
JACK: No! You listen!
PULITZER: Close the window and shut up!
JACK: There’s a lot of people out there and they ain’t just gonna go away. They got voices now and they’re goin’ be listen to. Putting them in jail is not going to stop them! That’s the power of the press, Joe.
(He closes the window. Pulitzer takes his hands away from his ears)
JACK: So thanks for teaching me about it.
SEITZ: Those kids put out a pretty good paper there Chief.
(Pulitzer picks up the paper and reads it.)
PULITZER: I ordered a printing ban on all strike matters. Now, who defied me? Who’s press did you use to print this on? Who’s?
JACK: Well, we only use the best, Joe. So, I just want to say, thanks again.
(Outside, Seitz’s opens the gates. David starts to come out, Jack is behind him.)
SPOT: Hey, fellas, they’re over here!
(The newsies gather around and start asking questions.   Jack bends over and whispers in Les’s ear.)
JACK: The strike’s over. We beat ‘em.
(Jack lifts Les onto his shoulders and look out towards all the children.)
JACK: We beat ‘em!
(The crowd cheers. All the newsies hug and pat each other on the back Weasel, Oscar and Morris put on their hats and leave. A paddy wagon pulls up. Snyder is sitting in the front seat with two cops.)
LES: Jack! Jack, it’s the bulls. It’s the bulls. Let me down!
SWIFTY: Down Jack. Get down!
KID BLINK: Hide Jack
DENTON: Jack, it’s over. No, no. You don’t have to run. Not anymore. Not from the likes of him. Come on, Come on.
(A cop opens the paddy wagon and the kids from the Refuge come out. The last one is Crutchy. A cop leads Snyder into the paddy wagon. Crutchy taps him on the back.)
CRUTCHY: Ah, remember what I told ya, Mr. Snyder. The first thing ya do in jail, make friends with the rats. Share what you got in common.
(Snyder climes in. A police officer is about to close the door.)
CRUTCHY: Officer, may I please?
POLICE OFFICER: Sure kid.
(Crutchy hands his crutch to a kid. He slams the door and locks it. He gets his crutch back and goes over to Jack and the others.)
JACK: Heya Crutchy.
DENTON: You won’t be seeing much of him anymore. Say goodbye Warden.
NEWSIES: Goodbye Warden!
(The paddy wagon pulls away)
CRUTCHY: Oh, Jack, you ought tah seen it! He comes stormin’ into the Refuge waving his walking stick like a sword and he’s leading in this army of lawyers and cops.
JACK: Who comes stormin’ in?
CRUTCHY: You know, your friend. Him! Teddy Roosevelt
(the newsies are amazed)
DENTON: The Governor’s very grateful that you brought this problem to his attention. I said you might need a lift somewhere. He’d be happy to oblige. Anywhere you want. And this time, you ride inside.
JACK: So, can he drop me at the train-yards?
DENTON: Yeah, if that’s what you want.
(They make their way to Roosevelt’s carriage. Jack shakes his hand and climes in. Boots throws Jack a bag. David, Les and Sarah watch sadly. The work kids follow the carriage as it leaves, leaving the newsies alone. The circulation bell begins to ring.)
MUSH: Try Bottle Alley or the harbor
RACETRACK: Try Central Park, it’s guaranteed
CRUTCHY: Try any banker, bum or barber
KID BLINK: They almost all knows how tah read
BOOTS: Summer stinks
SKITTERY: And winter’s waiting
SPECS, BUMLETS & SNIPESHOOTER: Welcome to New York
SNODDY, PIE EATER, SWIFTY, ITEY & JAKE: Boy ain’t nature fascinating
NEWSIES: When youse gotta walk
(The newsies line up for their papers. David is first in line. He slaps down a coin.)
DAVID: Hundred papes.
MUSH: Alright Davey.
(The newsies hear cheers and turn to see the carriage returning. All the work kids are following.)
MUSH: Dave, he’s back!
JACK: Thanks for the advice, Governor. Like you said, I still got things to do. Besides, I got family here.
(He gets out of the carriage and gives Les his cowboy hat. All the newsies yell and talk at the same time.)
JACK: So, how’s the headline today?
DAVID: Headlines don’t sell papes, newsies sell papes.
JACK: Come here, Davey.
(Jack holds out his hand. David spits in his and shakes it. Sarah makes her way through the crowd. Her and Jack kiss. All the newsies cheer and yell. The carriage pulls away, with Roosevelt and Spot in it. Spot tips his hat and waves as he leaves.)
SARAH: Bye Spot!
JACK: Go back to Brooklyn ya hear!
(David, Jack, Sarah, Les and Crutchy follow the carriage. Denton shakes David’s hand, then goes to the side and starts writing. The newsies, with their papers, dance as they leave.)

The Lost Princess Chapter 28

You and the trio had left the Fourth World Entrance and had entered the world, Monstro. 
“What a weird place! Everything's kinda springy and soft,” you said. 
“Nice and warm, too. I'm startin' to feel like a nap,” Goofy said. 
“I think you should be a little more worried,” someone said. 
“Who's there?” Donald asked. There, Pinocchio was hiding behind a wall.
“You're inside the belly of Monstro the Whale,” he said. Jiminy jumped onto the ground.
“Why, I know that voice... Pinocchio? Pinoke, it's you! Come on out!” Jiminy said. 
“Is that you, Jiminy? Gosh, I thought I'd never see you again!” Pinocchio said. 
“Gee, there's no way you wouldn't find me again. I'm your conscience. And your conscience will always be your guide. Remember?”
“Sure, Jiminy. And I've been a good boy, promise. I didn't tell a single lie.” All of a sudden, Pinocchio’s nose grew longer. 
“Uh-oh!” he said. 
“Well, for Pete's sake!” Jiminy said. 
“Oops! But...how did YOU end up inside Monstro, anyway?”
“We, uh, sort of used a special way...” Sora said. 
“It's so special, we don't know how we did it!” Goofy said. 
“That's too bad... I was hoping you could help me and Father get out of here.” 
“Well, I'll be! Geppetto's here, too?” 
“Sure he is. Follow me!” You and the others followed PInocchio to a ruined ship inside Monstro's mouth, where Geppetto was.
“Geppetto!” Jiminy said. Geppetto walked over to the ship's edge.
“Bless my soul, it's Jiminy Cricket. How in the world did you get here?” he said.
“You tell me! How does a clockmaker wind up in the belly of a whale?” Jiminy said.
“Well, it's a long story...” You and the gang climbed onto the ship, and Geppetto told his story.
“So you sailed out to look for Pinocchio...” Donald said. 
“...and Monstro swallowed you!” Goofy said. 
“Yes, but I found my son. I would do anything for my Pinocchio,” Geppetto said. 
“But now you can't get out, can you? Being stuck in the belly of a whale is awful,” you said. 
“Not if Pinocchio and I are together. That makes everything a little bit better. There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about.”
“Yeah... I know what you mean,” Sora said. 
“Me too,” you said.
“I don't care if I'm trapped here, so long as I have Pinocchio. He's such a good boy.” 
“Well, he still tells fibs. But with a little help from me...” Jiminy said.
“Oh, Jiminy, you worry too much.” 
“Speaking of Pinocchio... Where is he?” Sora asked.
“He was here a minute ago. Where's he gone this time?” Donald said.
“I expect he's off exploring. That boy has been poking around just about everywhere inside this monster. He won't tell me why it's so important. I tell him it's dangerous, but he won't listen.” 
“That boy's a handful! Sora, (Y/N), if you don't mind...”
“I know, I know. You want us to help you find him, right? C'mon, guys, let's get going!” Sora said. You, Donald, and Goofy nodded in agreement.
“Oh!” Pinocchio said. You, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy found Pinocchio in another area of Monstro.
“Pinocchio! What are you thinking?! You know Geppetto worries when you wander off by yourself,” Jiminy said.
“Jiminy was worried, too!” Donald said. 
“I'm sorry...” Pinocchio said. 
“What are you doing, anyway? Looking for something?” you asked. 
“Um...yeah, I'm looking for treasure!” Pinocchio’s nose grew longer.
“Here we go again!” Jiminy said.
“But, Jiminy...” 
“Now, don't be so hard on the little fella, Jiminy. We promise not to get mad, Pinocchio. Is that why you're afraid to tell? No need to fret. Tell us the truth---we'll understand. Put yer trust in Goofy!” Goofy said. 
“...I was looking for a way out. Father says he's happy, but it's my fault we're stuck here. I shouldn't have run away from home. I want to help Father get home to the workshop. But he'll worry if I tell him what I'm doing.”
“So that's why you thought you had to tell a lie,” Jiminy said. 
“You did it 'cause you love your dad!”
“All you need now is courage!” Donald said.
“What?” 
“Tell Geppetto the truth. With a little courage, you can do it! If you tell him how you really feel, I bet he'll help you find a way out,” you said.
“And we'll give you a hand!” Sora said.
“Really? You'll help us? Okay, I'll give it a try! Wish me luck, Jiminy!”
“No more keeping secrets, then. Have we got a deal?” Jiminy said.
“Sure! I'll be brave and tell Father how I really feel. No lies this time!”
“Great! Then your nose won't---” Suddenly, the ground started to shake.
“What's happening?!” you asked.
“I have no idea!” Sora said.
“I got a bad feeling about this!” Donald said.
“Pinocchio, run for it!” Jiminy said. Pinocchio ran away. A Parasite Cage Heartless fell from the ceiling in front of him.
“Pinocchio!” you and Sora said. Pinocchio was trapped inside the Heartless.
“Help! I'm trapped!” he said.
“What?!” Sora asked. You and the trio fought the Parasite Cage. After the fight, the Heartless was knocked out, but Pinocchio was still trapped inside.
“Help me! I'm scared!” he said.Pinocchio was trapped inside the Heartless.
“Help! I'm trapped!” he said.
“What?!” Sora asked. You and the trio fought the Parasite Cage. After the fight, the Heartless was knocked out, but Pinocchio was still trapped inside.
“Help me! I'm scared!” he said.
“Pinocchio, be brave!” you said.
“How?”
“Don't give up! Try fighting your way out!”
“Be brave... Okay, I'll try!” Pinocchio jumped up and down, which opened the Heartless' cage and allowed Pinocchio to climb out, right before the Heartless was destroyed and its heart was released.
“Pinocchio, are you alright?” Jiminy asked.
“Don't worry, I'm okay. Just a little sticky...” Pinocchio said as he got up.
“But I have a great idea! That thing spit me out when I started fighting back. Why don't we try the same thing with Monstro?” he said.
“Of course! If we're lucky, Monstro might cough us up!” Sora said.
“Great idea! Let's go deeper inside and try it!” Donald said.
“I'm going, too!” Pinocchio said.
“No, it's too dangerous,” Jiminy said.
“Aww, c'mon...”
“You should be with Geppetto. No use escaping from Monstro if you two get separated again!”
“Leave this to us,” Sora said.
“I guess you're right. Be careful, everybody!” You and the trio left to explore Monstro. You, Sora, Donald, and Goofy entered Monstro's throat.
“Looks like this is as far as we go,” Goofy said.
“Ready, then? Let's shake things up!” you said.
“It would be easier if we had someone to fight...” Donald said.
“Perfect timing. Looks like we've got company!” Sora said. Several Shadow Heartless surrounded you and the trio. One spooked Donald. The four of you defeated the Heartless.
“Whew...” Sora said. Suddenly, the ground started to shake, which shocked you and the trio.
“A-hyuck?” Goofy asked.
“It's working! Monstro's gonna sneeze!” Jiminy said. Monstro started to sneeze. The four of you group was risen out of the throat and landed in Monstro's mouth.
“Oww... Now I know what getting shot out of a cannon feels like,” Sora said.
“Where's Pinocchio and his dad?” Goofy asked.
“They're gone. They must've gotten out safely,” Jiminy said.
“Without you, Jiminy? I thought there was no escaping your conscience!” you said.
“I don't mind being left behind, as long as they're both safe. Maybe Pinocchio doesn't need me after all.” 
“What do you mean?” 
“That little puppet used to have trouble telling right from wrong. But he's come a long way. Maybe he doesn't need Jiminy Cricket anymore. Seems like he's got a conscience of his very own.” 
“Don't you remember what Geppetto said? ‘There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about.’ I bet Pinocchio's counting the days till he can see you again,” Sora said. Jiminy jumped back onto Sora's shoulder.
“Well, what do you know... You might be right,” he said. Goofy and Donald nodded while you smiled in reassurance. You and the group then left Monstro. You, Sora, Donald, and Goofy entered the Fourth Floor Exit Hall.
“Who could that have been before in my memory?” Sora asked. 
‘It wasn't Kairi... But another...girl? Maybe... I think her name was...’ Sora thought.
“Sora!” Donald said. 
“Ah!” Sora said surprised.
“(Y/N)’s having another headache,” Goofy said. He saw you on the ground, clutching your head, and breathing heavily with your eyes tightly closed. 
“(Y/N)? Are you okay?” Sora asked as he knelt down to your height. You didn’t say anything but continued to breathe heavily. 
You were back where you saw Vanitas during your last headache and you ran up to him.
“Vani! What’s going on? Why am I getting these headaches? What are you not telling me?” you asked. 
“Follow me,” he said. You walked with Vanitas and you saw a silhouette of a boy on a chair.
“Is that you, Vani?” you asked.
“Not technically,” he said. You looked at him confused. 
“I was originally part of him when dad ripped me out with his keyblade. I’m back in him now but it’s only a matter of time before dad does it again.” 
“What should I do?” 
“I need you to use your powers to protect me and him.” 
“Are you sure?” 
“100%. It’s the only to protect me. I don’t want be part of his schemes.” 
“Okay.” You used your powers and placed a protection spell on Vanitas and the boy. 
“What’s his name?” you asked when you finished the spell.
“Ventus. Ven for short,” Vanitas said. 
“Will I ever get to meet him?” 
“Maybe. You never know.” He started to disappear and you gave him a hug before he went. 
“I love you, big brother,” you said. 
“I love you too, little sis,” he said. He disappeared and you returned back to the trio. 
“Are you okay?” Sora asked. You nodded and slowly stood up. 
“That was your second headache. Are you sure you’re okay?” Donald said. 
“I-I’m fine. I think this castle is messing with me,” you said. 
“If you say so,” Sora said. The four of you continued, you staying close to Sora so that you could keep your balance. Somewhere in the castle, the girl was still in the white room, drawing. She was drawing a picture in her sketchbook of you, Sora, Kairi, herself, and Riku holding hands. You, Sora, and the gang entered the Fifth Floor. Goofy and Donald nodded as the four of you walked toward the door.
“I remember!” Sora said. 
“Huh?” Donald and Goofy asked. 
“There was another girl!” 
“Really?! Me too!” you said. 
“What? A girl? Where?” Goofy asked.
“No, no, I mean on the islands where (Y/N) and I used to live. Besides (Y/N), Kairi and Riku, there was one other girl I was friends with. The five of us played together all the time,” Sora said. 
“I remember that too! She was really sweet!” you said. 
“Sora, (Y/N)...Seems to me that's the first time you've mentioned her,” Jiminy said. 
“Yeah...I guess we forgot all about her. I think...she just suddenly went away when we were still really little,” you said. 
“What do you think made you remember that now?” Donald asked. 
“I'm not sure. But it's been coming back in pieces as we go through the castle,” Sora said. 
“Gawrsh, do ya remember her name?” Goofy asked. 
“I don't remember. I feel kinda dumb. We said we weren't gonna forget our friends, and well now... I can't even remember her name,” Sora said. 
“Me neither,” you said. You and Sora put your head down, ashamed.
“Sora...(Y/N)...” Donald said. 
“Aww, you shouldn't be worryin', none! If it's been coming back to you in pieces... You're sure to remember her name just like everything else!” Goofy said. You and Sora nodded, still a bit worried. You and Sora held up the next card at the Fifth Floor world entrance, and entered to the next world.
