Most of the time, as the senior rabbi of Temple Beth-El in San Antonio, Rabbi Mara Nathan’s focus is on Jewish families. But this week, she’s finding herself thinking about Christian ones, too.
That’s because Texas is poised to adopt a public school curriculum that refers to Jesus as “the Messiah,” asks kindergartners to study the Sermon on the Mount and presents the Crusades in a positive light.
The curriculum, Nathan said, “gives Christian children the sense that their family’s religion is the only true religion, which is not appropriate for public school education, at the very least.”
Nathan is among the many Texans raising concerns about the proposed reading curriculum as it nears final approval. Earlier this week, the Texas State Board of Education narrowly voted to proceed with the curriculum, called Bluebonnet Learning. A final vote is set for Friday.
The critics, who include Jewish parents and organizations as well as interfaith and education advocacy groups, say Bluebonnet — which will be optional but which schools would be paid to adopt — inappropriately centers on Christian theology and ideas. They have been lobbying for revisions since it was first proposed in May, offering detailed feedback.
“The first round of the curriculum that we saw honestly had a lot of offensive content in it, and was proselytizing, and did not represent Jewish people well,” said Lisa Epstein, the director of San Antonio’s Jewish Community Relations Council.
Now those critics say most of their specific suggestions have been accepted but they remain concerned.
“Looking at the revision, we still feel that the curriculum is not balanced and it introduces a lot of Christian concepts at a very young age, like resurrection and the blood of Christ and the Messiah, when kids are just really too young to understand and they don’t really have a grasp yet completely of their own religion,” she added. Epstein, who testified at a hearing on the proposal in Austin on Monday, has a child in high school and two others who graduated from Texas public schools.
The Texas vote comes as advocates of inserting Christianity into public education are ascendant across the country. Political conservatives are in power at the national level and the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority has demonstrated openness to blurring church-state separation.
President-elect Donald Trump has signaled support for numerous initiatives to reintroduce Christian doctrine into public schools, from supporting school prayer to endorsing legislation that would require public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments. (One such measure in Louisiana was recently blocked by a federal judge.)
In Texas, Bluebonnet’s advocates say the curriculum would elevate students’ learning while also exposing them to essential elements of cultural literacy. They note that the curriculum includes references to a wide range of cultures, including ancient religions, and that the religious references make up only a small fraction of the material.
“They’ll elevate the quality of education being offered to all Texas students by giving them a well-rounded understanding of important texts and their impact on the world,” Megan Benton, a strategic policy associate at Texas Values, which says its mission is “to stand for biblical, Judeo-Christian values,” said during the hearing on Monday, Education Week reported. Texas Values called criticism of the proposed curriculum an “attack on the Bible.”
The Texas Education Authority solicited the proposed curriculum, which would join a menu of approved options, as part of a pandemic-era effort that waived some transparency laws, meaning that its authors are not fully known. But The 74, an education news organization, reported this week that a publishing company co-founded by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee contributed content to the curriculum.
Trump tapped Huckabee, a pastor and evangelical favorite, last week to become his ambassador to Israel.
For some in Texas and beyond, Bluebonnet represents a concrete example of how the national climate could ripple out into local changes.
“A lot of things, we think they’re outside of our community, or outside of our scope, like we hear these things, but are they really going to impact us?” said a Jewish assistant principal in the Richardson Independent School District north of Dallas who asked to remain anonymous. “But I think now that it’s becoming a potential reality, a friend was asking me, would Richardson adopt this? Is this something that is really going to happen in our community?”
While the Supreme Court has ruled that public schools can teach about religion, they cannot prioritize one religion over another in that instruction. So Bluebonnet’s inclusion of Christian and Bible stories in lesson plans drew scrutiny from the start — which grew after the Texas Tribune reported that a panel required to vet all curriculum proposals included Christian proponents of incorporating religion in public education.
In September, The Texas Education Authority’s curriculum review board published hundreds of pages of emails from members of the public along with whether the critiques had resulted in changes. Some did, the board noted, but many others were rejected.
A coalition of Jewish groups submitted 37 requested changes to the initial curriculum proposal. Epstein said the San Antonio JCRC had specifically objected to language in some lessons that evoked “antisemitic tropes” and textual inaccuracies in referencing the story of Queen Esther, as well as offensive references to the Crusades and language that explained the birth of Jesus as the messiah.
One passage had invited students to imagine “if you were a Crusader,” Epstein said, referring to the Christian knights of the Middle Ages who sought to conquer the Holy Land, massacred communities of Jews and are venerated by some on the Christian right.
In the case of the Esther lesson, the original curriculum had recreated an aspect of the Purim story in which Haman drew lots to determine when to kill Jews in the Persian Empire — as a way to teach probability. Nathan called that particular lesson “subversively antisemitic.”
“In ancient Persia [drawing lots] was a way of helping someone make a decision, and the game was called Purim,” the initial text read. “Ask students to choose a number from 1 to 6. Roll a die and ask the students to raise their hand if their number was rolled.”
“This is shocking, offensive and just plain wrong,” Sharyn Vane, a Jewish parent of two Texas public school graduates, said at a September hearing, according to the New York Times. “Do we ask elementary students to pretend to be Hitler?” (Historical simulations have widely been rejected by educators for all grades.)
Both of the lessons were revised after feedback from Jewish groups and others, but Epstein and Nathan said the changes were not adequate. A new prompt asks students to describe “the journey of a Crusader” in the third-person, but it still sanitizes the murder of many Jews and Christians during the Christian quest to conquer Jerusalem, Epstein charged.
And while the Purim lots activity was dropped, Epstein noted that a specific lesson plan about Esther — a beloved figure among evangelical Christians — also includes a reference to God, which the Megillah, the Jewish text telling the Purim story, famously does not do. She said that inaccuracy was not addressed in the revisions.
In a statement, San Antonio’s Jewish federation, under which the JCRC operates, also acknowledged the changes that were made after its feedback but expressed concern over what it called “an almost solely Christian-based” perspective with “inaccuracies” and content that is inappropriate for elementary school students.
“We are not against teaching a broad range of religious beliefs to children in an age-appropriate way that clearly distinguishes between ‘beliefs’ and ‘facts,’ and gives appropriate time and respect to acknowledging many different religions,” the federation said. “Public schools should be places where children of all religious backgrounds feel welcomed and accepted.”
The newer version of the curriculum also did not address the federation’s concerns about language referring to Jesus as “the Messiah,” written with a capital “M,” and references to “the Bible,” rather than “the Christian Bible” specifically, as the federation had urged the curriculum’s creators to adopt.
The Austin branch of the Anti-Defamation League, which was also involved in the efforts, also applauded the revisions that had been made thus far but said it still “reject[s] the current version of the proposed curriculum.”
“We agree that students should learn the historical contributions of various religious traditions, but ADL’s analysis of the originally proposed curriculum found that a narrow view of Christianity was overwhelmingly emphasized, there were few mentions of other faiths and the curriculum baselessly credited Christianity with improved societal morality,” the group said in a statement. “Although improvements have been made, the materials still appear to cross the line into teaching religion instead of teaching about religion.”
Criticism to the curriculum goes far beyond the Jewish community. Texas AFT, the state’s outpost of the American Federation of Teachers, a leading teachers’ union, also opposes the proposal. “Texas AFT believes that not only do these materials violate the separation of church and state and the academic freedom of our classroom, but also the sanctity of the teaching profession,” the union said in a statement.
Some Republicans on the Texas Board of Education expressed reservations about the curriculum’s quality and age-appropriateness, separate from its religious content.
And nonpartisan and interfaith groups like Texas Impact and Texas Freedom Network have also been involved in efforts to oppose the curriculum, as has the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty. Epstein said a Sikh parent also testified at one of the hearings, asking for her faith’s traditions to be incorporated into lesson plans to provide more religious perspectives.
Nathan said that when she testified against the proposal at a September hearing, her allies were diverse.
“Some of the people who were against it were not Jewish, and just were [against] the way that the curriculum was being put together pedagogically,” she said. “But there were both Jewish and non-Jewish people there, and also some Christian folks who were there who were opposed to such an overtly Christian curriculum.”
Marian Neleson, who has a 14-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son in the Frisco Independent School District, said it has never been easy to be a Jewish family in her area.
“There’s always concerns as a parent when there’s just a handful of other Jewish children in a majority Christian school,” said Neleson, who is active in her local interfaith alliance. “From how the school celebrates, how they do their calendars. Do they remember that there is a Jewish holiday, and then they schedule major school functions on High Holy Days?”
Now, she’s worried that her own district could face pressure to adopt the new curriculum, if it is approved.
“These kind of curriculums are promoting one interpretation, one religion’s view, and I feel like that’s not very respectful of people who come from different backgrounds and different faiths and different religions,” Neleson said. She added, “I do think that the Frisco school district particularly does try to be inclusive and try to recognize the diversity of the community, but I know that there’s always pressure from groups who are trying to promote one agenda in the schools.”
The Richardson assistant principal said she saw in the financial incentive to adopt the curriculum — districts that do so will get up to $60 per student — an inappropriate assertion of support by the state. Many Texas districts are cash-strapped after legislators declined to substantially increase school funding last year.
“There is such a push in education for high-quality instructional materials,” said the assistant principal, who has three elementary school-aged children. “They’re pushing this so hard, and even potentially putting up funding for it if you adopt it, but it’s not a truly high-quality curriculum.”
In a Facebook post after Tuesday’s preliminary vote, Vane encouraged parents to reach out to members of the state’s education board to urge them to oppose the curriculum. “It’s not over yet,” she wrote.
Nathan said she’s not sure how much opponents of the curriculum can do if it’s approved, but she stressed the importance of local advocacy — especially since the curriculum is not required.
“I think reaching out to your local school board and communicating with local teachers in your community is going to be key,” she said. “If this occurs, what do I need to do in my local school district to make sure that there’s programming that balances the perspective?”
But she signaled that the intensity of the proposed curriculum would undercut any counter-programming by representatives of other faiths.
“It’s not presented as, ‘Here’s what Christians believe,’” Nathan said about Bluebonnet. “It’s presented as, ‘Here is the truth. There’s a difference.”

[9] • WHY DO YOU HATE ME? - H. KAI
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Tumblr media
plot: working alongside your ex-best friend, who's also a full-time asshole, turns hot after a heated conversation... | wc: 3.9k | cw: angst, mentions of death and suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, other sensitive topics, smut
Tumblr media
From your point of view, life continued for three reasons;
1. For your family…the only friends you had.
2. Another episode of you current obsession, and
3. The next cigarette...or cancer stick as your next door neighbor liked to call it.
Sometime your third reason helped you the most. One puff relived the stress and every one after that made life a little easier. Oftentimes, smoking was like an escape for you. A way to cope with the shitty hand the universe had dealt you.
You lived in a cheap apartment. And all of the money you made was split between you and your parents. There was a shared belief in your family that the children should take care of their parents when they move out. Assisting in whatever way they could.
This belief is what compelled you to send money to your family. It wasn’t a burden. You knew that if you ever needed a place to stay that you were always welcome back home. The only problem being that you couldn’t shake your smoking habit. And that was the reason you had to go in the first place.
You seen all the stupid YouTube videos about what happens to your lungs when you smoke and how much money you could save if you weren’t buying packs of cigarettes weekly, but none of that mattered to you. After the death of your only friend near the end of senior year, life seemed almost impossible.
Meaningless and empty without Eve by your side.
You held onto those three reasons because everything in you wished for one more day with your friend. Just one more day to tell her how much you loved her. And at this point, the sweet taste of death was the only thing separating you from her.
You grew up as an only child for most of your life. By the time your mom had your little brother, you were already 14 years old. Around that time you met Eve.
You had just started high school and up until freshman year, you were known to be a loner.
You walked into your first class of the day, sitting in the chair furthest to the back of the classroom and that’s when you met her for the first time.
“I’m Eve,” she smiled, extending her hand to you. The two of you were like complete opposites. She was warm, cheery, and full of life. You on the other hand felt like the world had been against you since birth.
One more detail about Eve is that she was a huge chatterbox. Since the two of you rode the bus together, you never felt alone. The darkness that was your life felt a little brighter with her around. Even your mom noticed the positive change in your behavior.
“You sure look happy,” your mom raised her brow as you looked at your phone.
“Yeah, I met this really cool girl at school today. Her name is Eve,” you smiled.
“Well maybe you should invite her over sometime. Anyone that can make you smile like that must be really special.”
And she was…Eve was really special to you.
You could talk to her about anything. She wasn’t just an expert at talking, she was also a great listener. Sometimes her advice wasn’t the best, but you were both kids at the time.
You just wish that she would’ve talked to you the day before…she killed herself. You always blamed yourself for her death. There had to have been a sign that she was hurting, but maybe you were too selfish to see it.
You had both started senior year together and all you ever talked about were how the two of you would move out together and graduate from the same college. You saw a life with her…and all of that was over in one night.
You think about it every day. What makes it even worse is that your co-worker is the biggest asshole you’d ever known.
You were never brave enough to stand up to him. Maybe because you felt like the fight just wasn’t worth it. But he knew Eve too. The three of you were friends before her death. Your past friendship is probably another reason why you wouldn’t speak up.
When you really think about it…a lot changed after she died. You started smoking and Kai seemed to hate you for no reason.
You never knew why…
“You’re locking up tonight,” he said as he slammed the cash register.
“What?!”
“You heard me,” he spat, turning to you. “You’re locking up tonight because I’m heading out early.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? I have a life too y’know.”
“Do I look like I care?” You stared at him blankly before he continued, “Exactly, just do what the fuck I told you,” he swatted his hand before walking to the back to grab his things.
“You can’t expect me to do all of this by myself,” the gas station you worked at was extremely understaffed and you two were often the only ones at work.
“You can handle it,” he leaned down, picking up his skateboard before heading toward the front door.
“This is so fucked up,” you slammed you hand against the counter. “You’re such a fucking dick,” you mumbled, rolling your eyes.
“You know what’d be really fucked up?” He asked softly walking back over to the register. “If you had a little accident at work,” he tilted his head to the side. “It’d be pretty hard to come to work if you slipped and hurt yourself. Wouldn’t it?”
You lowered your gaze, afraid to say something stupid and not in the mood to hear anymore of his threats. You knew better than to push him…he’d done a number of things to torture you.
You thought back to the one time he took your phone and locked you in the storage closet over night because you wouldn’t stay after hours and wax the floors.
You watched as he walked out with his skateboard tucked under his arm. You sighed deeply, striking your lighter as you lit your cigarette.
You parted your lips, letting the clouds of grey smoke fill the air as you took out the trash before turning off all the lights and locking up for the night.
Without Eve your life felt like Groundhog Day. A continuous, endless, hell-like loop of waking up, clocking in, and clocking out to do it all over again. The most diversity you had in your life was a new assignment.
Oh and to make life even better, Kai went to the same school as you. A cheap community college where you could earn your associates before taking out student loans to get your bachelors.
Sometimes you wondered if life ever got any better from here…
A few days later, you were working the cash register with Kai when he decided to take his break in the middle of the 12 o’clock rush. “Perfect,” you sighed sarcastically. “Just fucking perfect,” you rolled your eyes as you prepared yourself to deal with the line of customers that had wrapped around one of the aisles.
“You should smile more often,” a man smiled. He looked to be about 40 or 50.
“Excuse me?” You asked, wondering why he would even say something like that.
“I’m just saying,” he shrugged pulling out a $20. “Life is beautiful. There’s a lot to smile about.”
“Right,” you scoffed.
“You should try it sometime,” he smiled as you handed him the receipt.
“M’kay,” you shook you head, wanting nothing more than for him to just take his shit and leave.
“Thank you so much sir for pointing that out,” Kai came out grinning ear to ear like the fucking Cheshire Cat.
“You’re welcome. I just know how much a smile can change the working environment for everyone.”
“Exactly,” Kai nodded. “____, I don’t wanna have to write you up for this because I know how much you need this job. But you’re gonna have to change your attitude.”
You sighed as you rubbed the spot between your eyebrows. Another detail that you hated to remember and often forgot was that Kai was your manager…and the reason you got this job in the first place.
Ironically you started working here during your last year of high school. You planned to earn some money for college to give you a bit of a head start, which only somewhat worked out in your favor.
To be honest, the pay here was pretty good and better than any other option. You assumed this had a lot to do with the low staff.
Anyways, you were hoping that Kai was only joking about writing you up until you were called into the office for a staff meeting on Friday.
“Look, ____. We’re already very low on staff as I’m sure you know. And it’s hard to keep customers coming back if you’re out there looking like you want a bullet in your head,” the owner said, folding his hands.
“That’s probably because I do,” you mumbled to yourself.
“All I’m saying is, try to look at least somewhat pleasant. You don’t have to go overboard, just be natural, okay?”
“Yeah, okay," you shook your head as Kai sat next to you.
"Thanks again, Kai. I really appreciate you for bringing this to my attention. I've been noticing a decline in customer reviews and now I know why."
"No problem," he smiled giving you a look that made you wanna knock his teeth out.
Kai closed the door to the main office as the two of you walked down the hallway.
“I can’t believe you actually fucking ratted me out,” you spat.
“I’m only doing what’s best for the—“
“Drop the fucking act,” you sneered. “We both know you don’t really give a damn. Because if you did I wouldn’t be locking up at night by myself. You’d be there helping me out and not somewhere just jerking off. Y’know what? Maybe I should go tell the boss about what you’re doing since we’re in the bitching business,” you turned around, but just as you tried walking away Kai grabbed your arm, pulling you back and throwing you to the ground.
“Don’t be such a stupid fucking bitch,” he spat.
“You did the same thing to me,” you brushed yourself off as you stood to your feet only to be pushed back down to the ground.
“If I were you I’d quit while I was ahead,” he knelt down.
“I’m tired of you treating me like shit, Kai. I don’t know what your fucking problem is, but I didn’t do anything to deserve this.”
“If you really believe that you’re even dumber than I thought you were.”
“Fuck you,” you spat, looking him dead in the eye. You don’t know what came over you, but you had never been brave enough to stand up for yourself.
“I’d watch my tongue if I were you,” he pressed his forearm against your neck. “Karma can be a real bitch y’know,” your eyes watered as he held you against the wall. You felt weak and powerless against him and you hated it, but there really was nothing you could do about it. Or at least that’s how you felt.
Your bottom lip quivered as he slowly let you go. You sucked in your breath, catching a tear with your sleeve before running off to the bathroom. You cried in there, more than you had in a really long time.
And that evening, after closing early, you smoked through a whole pack. You were on the last one as Kai was walking back to the store. You assumed he’d forgotten something inside as he unlocked the door.
Catching the sight of you, smoking behind the register, he walked up and slapped the cigarette out of your mouth, casting ashes across the floor. “What the fuck?” You spat, picking up the bud before sticking it back between your lips.
“You know that shit could kill you right?”
“I already feel dead,” you hummed, pulling out your lighter. “This is the only thing that makes me feel alive,” you continued, striking the lighter.
“Well you can die on your own time,” he snatched the cigarette out of your pursed lips. “I don’t wanna be the one cleaning up after your corpse when your lungs collapse.”
He looked in the small trash can underneath the register where he saw more than 15 burnt buds and an empty packet. “Did you smoke this whole pack?”
“Obviously,” you rolled your eyes.
“Are you trying to kill yourself?”
“You wouldn’t care anyway. You obviously hate me.”
“Don’t let me catch you smoking again,” he spat.
“You’re not my fucking dad. You can’t tell me what to do,” you reached to try and get your last cigarette back as he shoved you into the counter, putting the bud out on the countertop beside you.
“Next time it’ll be your hand,” he sneered. “Now, clean this shit up and get this disgusting fucking smell out of here,” you forcefully wiped the tear from your eye as he walked away. Grabbing whatever he needed before walking out again.
Sometimes you wondered if this was why Kai always messed with you, because he got a kick out of seeing you cry.
As sadistic as it sounded, it couldn’t be any closer to the truth which you learned later that week one night when Kai told you to close by yourself again. The only difference was that he was somewhat tipsy at this point.
He had been drinking a lot more after the altercation you had in the hallway. You wondered if it was because he felt guilty, finally seeing the error of his ways.
“Can you at least take out the fucking trash before you go?” You spat as he walked to the back putting his stuff away. “Please,” you threw your hand up.
“If I do it will you shut your big fucking mouth?”
“Yes,” you rolled your eyes. He was in an even pissier mood when he drank, but surprisingly he was more useful. He’d do almost anything you asked him to do as long as you bitched about it enough.
“Thank you,” you smiled as he mumbled to himself throwing two bags over his shoulder, and dragging another two out the back door with him.
You heard bottles clanking outside as you shut down the register. Another loud crashing sound shook you up as you called out Kai’s name. You were feeling a bit annoyed at this point. “I don’t even make that amount of noise when I take out the trash,” you sighed.
More noises and no reply from Kai led you to go outside and check on him yourself, leaving your phone in the counter. “What the hell are you doing out here?” You spat as you saw him throwing glass bottles against the wall with bloody hands.
“Kai! Stop it!” You shouted as he shielded his ear with his shoulder.
“Can you stop fucking yelling at me and just go back inside,” he rolled eyes, launching another bottle at the wall.
“No because after you’re done fucking around like a jackass I’m gonna have to come out here and clean this shit up.”
“No you’re not,” he hummed.
“Yes I am.”
“No you’re not,” his words slurred together at this point.
“Yes. I am.”
“No you’r—“ you ripped the bottle out of his bloody grasp.
“You’re way too fucking drunk right now. Just get the hell out of here and go home already.”
“Where are you going,” he asked sounding slightly frustrated.
You started to walk back inside, “I’m gonna go get a broom to clean this shit up,” you sighed. “Someone has too,” you reached your hand out to open the door only to jump, quickly turning around after hearing rapid footsteps approach you.
Kai had pinned you against the door, slamming it shut as he held another bottle in his hand. He broke it beside you head and held it to your neck. “If you scream I’ll cut your throat open right here,” he slurred.
“Get off of me you drunk bastard!” You yelled, squirming in an attempt to free yourself from his grasp. He slapped you in the face with his bloody hand before clenching your jaw.
Tears filled your eyes as you stamped your feet against the ground. You beat against his chest as your arms were stuck in one position. “Kai!” You cried. “Stop it! Please,”
“Why should I? You’re not my mom,” he pressed against you harder, crushing your hands beneath his weight.
“Why do you hate me?” You choked on tears as you couldn’t hold them back anymore.
“Shh!” He put a bloody finger against your lips.
“No, I want you to tell me why you hate me so much. It doesn’t make sense. We used to be friends before…before Eve killed herself,” it was silent for a moment as Kai lowered his head, he body started to tremble as a tear dropped from his face.
“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!” He shouted repeatedly slamming your body against the metal door, dropping the broken bottle.
“You’re hurting me, Kai! Stop it!” You yelled as you felt a pain tugging at your bones. “Please,” your voice shook.
He rested his hands on your shoulders before falling to your knees. “I’m sorry,” he whispered. “God, I’m so fucking sorry,” he cried.
You knelt down and lifted his teary face. “It’s okay, Kai. I miss her too,” you sniffled before wrapping your arms around him.
He pulled away gently, looking up at you with teary eyes. “I’m really sorry, _____,” he apologized. “I’ve been such a dick…”
“And I don’t even understand why…”
“D’you remember the day before Eve died?”
“Of course I do…I think about it almost everyday.”
“What if I told you it’s my fault she’s dead…”
“Wh-what do you mean?”
“She called me…”
“She did?! Why didn’t you ever tell me? What did she say?”
“I didn’t know how to tell you…but she told me to be happy…”
“I don’t understand. Why did she say that?”
“Did you ever notice how she was around you? Like the way she behaved. Did she ever seem like she liked you as more than just a friend?”
“I-uhh…I never paid attention to it.”
“Yeah well she really liked you, but when she found out I liked you too, she started to back off some. Things really took a turn for the worse when her parents heard us arguing one night—“
“What were you arguing about?”
“She had started hurting herself…”
“Like cutting?”
“Yeah…and I guess it didn’t get any better…I should’ve told someone,” he said softly as tears trickled down his cheeks.
“You can’t blame yourself for that.”
“But if I would’ve told someone she might still be here…”
“We don’t know that for sure.”
“It could’ve helped her…she also called me a few nights before she died and told me that her parents found out about her crush on you…I don’t really know how…but they did and she was really upset about that. Do you think her parents are the reason she killed herself?”
“We can’t know for sure…she didn’t really leave us any way of knowing why. But I think you should listen to her and be happy. Just look at the way we’ve separated…”
Kai looked down at his bloody hands, “____…”
“Yes?”
Kai cradled your face in his hands before kissing you on the lips. One kiss turned to three and the next thing you knew his lips were all over your neck as he groped your tit in his hand.
Not a single word was spoken as breathless moans took the place of speech. You grabbed his hair in your hand, untying the small bun he wore as you tousled his hair. He slipped his tongue into your mouth as he pulled you closer.
You pulled his head away as his lips fell to your chest. “What?”
“Don’t you think this is kinda fast?”
“We can think about that in the morning,” he hummed, kissing your neck again.
You held Kai’s hand as he took you inside. He picked you up, placing you on the metal cabinet as he kissed you, unbuttoning his pants.
“What about a condom?”
“Do I look like the type of guy to just have a condom in his wallet?”
“I…uh…”
“Exactly. Don’t worry…I’ll pull out,” he shrugged as you pulled your pants down. You watched as his dick sprang out of his boxers.
You climbed back onto the cabinet, spreading your legs as he stepped between them, lining his tip up with your entrance. “Ngh!” You moaned as he pushed through.
“Mmm,” he hummed feeling your walls contract around him. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, holding onto him as he pumped into you. He nuzzled his face into yours, bringing your lips back to his as he pushed his tongue into your mouth.
You moaned as you felt yourself coming close to finishing. You threw your head back as he sucked onto your neck. You squeezed your thighs around him, pulling him closer as you climaxed.
"Fuck," he swore.
"What?"
"I'm gonna cum," he bit his lip as he started to pull back.
"I don't care," you pulled him closer, kissing him again.
"But I thought you--"
"We'll think about it in the morning," you whispered as he pumped every drop of his hot load into you.
Everything from here became a blur until the two of you woke up in the backroom. You were laying between his legs as he rested his back against the metal cabinet.
"Shit," you spat as your eyes shot open. "We have to be ready to open in like 30 minutes," you said, scrambling to your feet.
"No way," Kai rubbed his eyes, looking up to see the analog clock on the wall, confirming what you just said.
The two of you scrambled to open up. He wiped off the cabinet from the two of you last night and you worked together to restock the coffee station and check the slushee maker.
"I'll take care of the mess outside," he chuckled, ruffling his hair. You handed him the hair tie that was wrapped around your wrist. It was the same one you took off of him last night. "Thanks," he smiled before kissing you on the cheek.
"Hey, for the record," you hollered. "Whatever happened last night doesn't change anything between us. I still hate you," you smirked.
"I hate you too," he smiled before heading out the back door.
What happened from this day on is hard to explain. It was like the two of you went back to being friends, but something else tugged at your heart aside from the memory of your dead friend. You were starting to like Kai and you could tell that he liked you too, but dating each other just didn't feel right.
As far as sex was concerned, it hadn't happened again since the first time you did it, which was about 3 weeks ago. Even though you did have the occasional makeout session that never seemed to last long enough.

The parent evening at Abbott Elementary just ended, as every teacher and every parent went their separate ways. Everyone but you who left about an hour earlier than everyone. No one knows why, no one dared to ask when you rushed out of the building after cleaning up your classroom and grabbing your bag. Not even a goodbye like you always do, especially to Melissa who grew worried because of this; but she decided not to call you, especially how it seemed as though you wanted some time alone.
Your movement wasn’t harsh, nor was it rough. It was more of a quiet rush that might as well be considered worse than an angry one.
Melissa says her goodbyes to her co-workers before setting off to go home. She looks at her phone set up on the side with an attached stand to it, pondering on whether she should call you and ask how you are or perhaps not. You’ve only been at Abbott for a year, and in that year, Melissa grew very fond of you. There was just something about you she couldn’t pinpoint in the beginning, not until one of her kids came rushing to her crying and asking for you, for some reason. You started as an aide just to see if the teaching position would fit you at Abbott after about four years of teaching experience in a different state.
When you were Melissa’s aide, her days never ended up being exhausting. You were a breath of fresh air and really helped her around the classroom; with managing two classes at once, it’s not an uncommon occurrence for Melissa to stress herself out. Eventually, you’ve come to apply for an official teaching role at Abbott to teach 6th grade Biology after 2 and a half months of being an aide. It was perfect since the last Biology teacher just straight up gave up and signed up for a resignation; which is a bad image given that it kind of shows the students a message that they may not be worthy enough to stay for since that said teacher left to go to Addington. It’s great that you’re qualified for the teaching role and Ava, especially, was thankful for that.
The redhead drives over the street, her mind only occupied with next week's lesson plans that she should finish on Sunday. Thankfully she’s already done with grading papers. As her mind wanders, she comes across someone familiar on the street, tears pouring down. She stops her car immediately near the familiar broken down car whose owner is the person crying in front of her. You.
Upon noticing the sudden warmth of someone’s presence, you look up only to feel embarrassed, so you quickly wipe off the tears that already stained the bottom of your shirt used for wiping them off. You have the mascara stained from all the tears, and the lipstick that smudged just right on the side of your lips. This is an ugly cry that you never want anyone to see, but Melissa is the exception. You don’t mind her.
She looks at you with not pity, but worry. Wiping off the dust and small grains of dirt she can get off beside where you are, Melissa takes a seat, trying not to be too close to you so you can have enough space to be comfortable or not feel too crowded. “Hon, what happened?” Her voice is so smooth that it sounds like the only symphony you can listen to for the rest of your existence. She looks at you, her eyes speaking more emotion than her words, as always.
“It’s nothing, really.” You sniffle your runny nose in between words that shake your voice and tone. “Just a mishap, but thanks.” Your eyes meet hers, giving her a light chuckle which makes her raise her eyebrow.
“You know me enough not to believe this stunt.” She slightly tilts her head towards you, crossing her arms. Melissa knows you too well upon the year she spent with you at Abbott. She knows when you’re being all bullshit. This is one of those times.
You look at your lap, then your hands that had small stains of black from that mascara that you wore today. “Fine, it’s something. But it’s not really that big of a deal, Mel.” Your gaze turns to her. “It’s just a parent being a parent.”
“Seeing you like this doesn’t make it feel like it’s a small deal.” Melissa isn’t always one for being interested so quickly towards someone, but you just managed to intrigue her the more she knew about you.
In defeat, you tell her what happened; but you feel guilty upon telling her all of this. For whoever up there’s sake, this is only your second year at Abbott and you’re already dropping a bucket worth of tears over one comment a parent made for the first time in your whole career. “One of the parents, um, she called me a terrible teacher because her son was struggling with something and all I really did was help her son out but she wasn’t listening to what I was saying and blamed it all on me.” Talking about your problems really has always been the catapult to a breakdown that you can never find a way to stop. “She blamed it all on me that her son’s grades weren’t high enough, when he has always excelled in all of his subjects. He’s on the verge of burning out, and I’m just trying to help him, Mel.”
“She thinks her son’s grades aren’t enough, when they’re high and he already reached his goal. The mother is so strict but I can’t speak on it because I am not the parent, I am only the one who teaches and calculates the grades. I don’t make the grades, I just help the students achieve the grade they want. She called me terrible. A terrible teacher. I have never been called that and I feel so bad, so guilty, and sensitive, for feeling this way about it. About what she said. And I’m sorry for dumping all of this on you when you’re handling two classes at once, you’re incredible, and I know how stressed you are at times. I care about you a lot.”
Melissa thinks before she speaks, signaling if she can touch you and you nod in response; and so she places her arm around your shoulder, pulling you in with a small apologetic smile. “Some parents really are like that, and unfortunately we can’t exactly do anything about it other than have a quiet and listening conversation with our student.” You hold onto her other hand, feeling her squeeze yours in comfort. “And you don’t have to apologize for feeling this way. No apologies to me, we all have our own experiences, hon.” Melissa removes her arm around you, where she is now holding both of your hands in hers. You melt under her touch, she brings you warmth. She’s the beaming sun that lifts up your glow. “Your feelings aren’t any less. I care about you too, I care a lot.”
You only mumble a quiet thank you to her, letting go of her hands before moving closer and burying your face on her neck, feeling the warmth she had to offer. The comfort her presence gave you was enough to recharge from a tiring day. “Thank you so so much, Mel.” The warmth Melissa gave not only came from her natural body temperature, but also the sudden contact of you leaning into her this close that sent up sparks in her mind and caused her to grow a blush she couldn’t take away.
Melissa places her right hand on your back, leaning her head on yours, before whispering “Anything for you, cara.”
“You’re so nice to me, Mel.” You whisper with a small chuckle, feeling her heart beating, feeling it speed up. “I never knew that something I would say is enough to make your heart crazy.”
“Great assumption you got there.” Melissa jokes, lifting your face off her shoulder. You looked a mess with your smudged makeup, and yet still she was enchanted by you; to her you were still beautiful as always, and she was glad that you felt comfortable being in states like this around her. She keeps your trust the way you take care of hers.
“No use in lying to me when I look like a mess.” You shrug your shoulders, feeling the tension of your feelings cool down and feel lighter. She only playfully rolls her eyes and chuckles at you.
You never denied your attraction towards Melissa, but that’s something she doesn’t know. Something you never had the guts to tell her; you were just scared, confused as to how and why would she date someone like you. Someone younger, obsessed with movies, and could talk about anything and everything within every second of the day. You’ve seen how Melissa acts when Jacob starts yapping about something, but then if you’re the one doing it, she never scolds or avoids you when you talk about your interests even though she doesn’t get most of them. Melissa could just be really friendly to a selected number of people, and you’re lucky enough to be one of those people; that’s one of the main reasons as to why you’d rather not express your romantic feelings for her.
Melissa is too important to you. She’s your friend first before all.
“Why are you even stopped here anyway?” Melissa questions, looking at your car parked on the side near hers.
Embarrassed, you answer her with a small hint of nervousness “Well, you see, I ran out of gas.” You also realize your inability to head home because you remember now that you left your house keys on the desk right before you rushed out of the school a while ago. “Shit! I left my house keys in the school. Son of a bitch.”
Your evening after that parent situation really isn’t going how you want it to. First, you forget your apartment keys in a school that’s already locked, and second, your car is out of gas. You have nowhere to go and nowhere to sleep in, until an idea pops up in mind, but Melissa had another idea. “You can always stay at my-”
“I can call Janine and ask her if I can stay.” You say in full confidence, remembering how Janine once offered for you to stay at her place if ever that there were any cases of unfortunate occurrences. But instead of Melissa agreeing and knowing it’s better for you to stay at Janine’s, she reacts differently.
“No! I meant you can stay at my place.” This peaks the curiosity in you. A year of being friends with Melissa, and yet you’ve never been to her house before, surprisingly.
“As tempting as that offer is, I don’t want to be in the way of your weekend.” You say. Melissa only scoffed and shook her head with endearment. “And I do know how much you cherish your privacy.”
“That’s nonsense, sweetheart. You’re an exception.” Before you can say anything, Melissa stands up to open her car, making sure that you follow. “I’m not taking ‘no’ for an answer, by the way.” She’s pretty persuasive. Pretty and persuasive. She smirks at you as she waits for your approach; she leans on the car and crosses her arms with the keys dangling on her finger. “We both had a tiring day, so a little wine wouldn’t hurt too, right?”
You nod with excitement, looking back at your car while approaching Melissa’s. “Don’t worry, we can get back tomorrow. I have a guy that can help with your car without hassle.” Thankfully, the area where you stopped your car when it ran out of gas was a safe space. Knowing this part of Philly, it surely is more peaceful. Melissa is so thoughtful and just the sweetest, when what she always does, at least to you, is what you think of as something like the bare minimum or just something she does to her close friends. You’re not that special to her, as to what you think; but to her, you’re more than that.
Before leaving off with Melissa, you first check over your car just to grab your things. “Let me just get some stuff from my car. I don’t want any important things gone.” She nods as you head off, unlocking the back of the vehicle and grabbing some things. You take your files filled with student papers you need to check off and grade, then in front of the car is your bag with all of the pens you use and essentials. You double check to lock the door then look over to Melissa. “Well, it seems like we’re both gonna be occupied.” You say, showing her the very thick file folder you have.
“We can grade papers and drink wine.” She suggests, and all you can imagine is grading papers on the table together with Melissa’s glasses sitting on the bridge of her nose, hair up in a loose bun with a wine glass in hand and the smell of her lingering in her home. She holds your hand every so often after taking a sip of her wine and you brush a strand of hair off her face while she smiles at you and thanks you. That is all an image in your head.
“Sounds like a fun evening.” Is all you can say in reply.
As you approach her car, Melissa opens the door for you and you quickly thank her for it. The car ride was comfortable and quite fun. It’s not your first time riding in Melissa’s car, and usually she leads playing music in the car, but she actually lends you the aux cord from time to time. You connect your device to the speaker and radio in her car, where you then blast one of Laufey’s songs; a fairly recent artist that Melissa denied when you first played it around her, but she soon grew fond of the artist knowing that you loved listening to her music a lot.
Melissa would always find herself looking the artist up just so she could be reminded of you when she listens to it. It just for some reason makes her feel closer to you whenever she engages with things you love.
“You bewitched me.” You sing along the rhythm, slightly bopping your head to the light and magical tone of the song. Melissa quietly glances at you, a smile growing on her lips upon adoring the sight, before looking back on the street. “From the first time that you kissed me.” The lyrics catch Melissa, causing her to swallow the invisible lump in her throat. “To experience this song is to make my life complete.” You joke, not imagining anyone to dance to this song with other than Melissa.
Upon hearing this, Melissa wanted you to kiss her under the bustling lights of an evening in Philly. She wanted to lean in and whisper how much she wanted to keep you in her heart. She wanted to be the one who makes you bewildered, bewitched.
“Well, if I ever get the time to buy her vinyl, that would also be an alternate way to complete my life.” You shrug, chuckling.
But I’m falling so badly, I’m coming apart. The song continues. You cast me a note, cast a spell on my heart.
Melissa takes a quick glance over the radio. Well, you’re right about that. She thinks to herself, indulging the lyrics of the sweet yet whimsical song.
“Not the first time you’ve talked about the artist.” She looks over to you through the front mirror, noticing the embarrassed chuckling you let out. “I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I think it’s cute.”
“Thanks, Mel. People don’t really engage with me when I talk about things I love.” You look over at her with an endearing smile. “But thankfully I have you, don’t I?”
“I talk about firefighters to you a lot, hon. I think we’re even.” She laughed quietly. “And you really love the food I make.” In all honesty, there’s a mix of excitement and nervousness in Melissa right now. It’s your first time both going to her house and staying over there for the weekend. Is the sink cleared? Will there be time to whip up a quick meal? Is her bedroom clean? Wait, you’re sleeping in her bedroom? On the same bed as her? Unless you don’t want to, she’ll just sleep on the couch. Melissa’s mind just shuffled.
You notice that Melissa kind of dozes off, so you try to catch her attention. “Mel, you good?” Waving off your hand beside her, until you catch her attention.
“I’m good. Just thinking of something.” You quirk an eyebrow making an attempt to guess, but trying not to push it much as for Melissa to not get frustrated.
You remember the vending machine guy that the Abbott crew would always mention to Melissa. Given that he leaves hints that he likes her. This happens way after they forget to tease you and Melissa for being close. Although there’s some sort of jealousy that flows through you whenever this happens, it’s not really something you can do anything about, given that perhaps Melissa feels the same for him too. “Ooo, is it Gary?” You tease.
Melissa shakes her head quickly. “No, that’s not- he’s not-”
“Oh! My bad, sorry.” You apologize but she denies this apology, saying that there’s nothing to apologize for.
The next moments were filled with comfortable silence, as you then start humming to the next song playing.
Don’t you dare look at me that way; I don’t need reminders of how you don’t feel the same.
─────────
Shortly afterwards, you arrived at Melissa’s place, seeing the beautiful interior displayed right in front of you. She looks at you adoring her house, with only the luminescence of the neighboring houses and the moon lighting up your face. “Beautiful.” Melissa compliments.
She leads you to the door, unlocking it while you stand behind her, carrying the file folder and your bag. You’re greeted by a well decorated living room and several photo frames across the walls and the side tables. “You can just place your things on the couch and I’ll whip us up something to eat for dinner and maybe a snack while grading. That sound good?”
You nod in response, carefully placing your things on the couch that’s still covered by plastic, but that’s okay. It’s very Melissa, quite as you think.
“You know, Schemmenti, you’re all heart and passion.” You say, following her to the kitchen. Melissa manages to short circuit after what you just said, trying to mentally fix her composure.
“Flattery doesn’t work around here. Sorry, Sweetheart.” She shakes her head with a soft chuckle before turning to you and leaning on the counter. “And besides, you’re not helping in the kitchen, but you can sit there and look pretty.”
Compliments like these are common between you and Melissa. Both of you appreciate and care for each other’s everything; even when Melissa’s stress and temper gets a hold of herself, or when you go quiet from being too overwhelmed. “Funny, but I do need to fix this face.” You point at the several faded marks of makeup on your face, making Melissa walk towards you and offer to take you upstairs where the bathroom is.
She points to the bathroom then leaves you there, with the idea going across her mind that you probably don’t have any spare clothes to change into to be able to sleep comfortably. Due to this, while you’re getting yourself clean in the bathroom, Melissa gets an old Eagles shirt that she found in her closet and a pair of sweats she never uses. She knocks on the bathroom door with the clothes hanging on one of her arms. “I got you some clothes, hon.” She says, and you reply to her with thanks. “Just let me know if you need anything.”
“Thank you so much, Mel.” You open the door and thank her, carefully taking the neatly folded clothes from her arm.
You soon finish freshening up, looking at yourself all fixed up in the mirror with the change of clothes on. The Eagles shirt smells exactly the way Melissa does, and you take it in, feeling as though she’s with you right now. The scent fills you with comfort and warmth you don’t want to stop feeling.
Upon arriving at the kitchen, you’re greeted with a quick meal that Melissa made that’ll surely fill you up for the evening. You wonder how long you took in the bathroom because Melissa is already in a different set of clothes with, just as you thought, her hair in a loose bun. She sees you and the only thought that comes across her mind is ‘Damn’ There was just something about seeing you in her clothes, in her kitchen, even in her car, that felt so domestic. It’s the same thing she feels every time she offers to pick you up from somewhere or when you have lunch ‘dates’ where it’s just the two of you; or when sometimes she asks you to go to the farmer’s market with her, and you ask her to go to music stores and bookstores with her.
Now, you’re here in her house. You’re staying over for the weekend, and she can’t help but just keep herself from getting too attached to the idea of a domestic life with you.
“That looks delicious!” You exclaim, walking towards the counter where Melissa had already set up two stools and two sets of plates.
“You look delicious.” She blurts out which makes you burst out laughing, in mind that she was probably just joking around like always. You playfully punch Melissa’s shoulder, and if anyone were to ever do that to her, she would probably punch them harder, but she only looks at you with her brows furrowed.
You shake your head, “I thought flattery doesn’t work around here.” You sit across Melissa from the counter where you both prepare to eat. It’s filled with silence, before she clears her throat and tells you.
“Delicious doesn’t say it all.” Melissa shrugs, wanting you to take the flirty compliment.
After exchanging a few laughs with each other over dinner, you stop to look at Melissa who just finished laughing at something you said. “I like this side of Melissa Ann Schemmenti.” You rest your chin on your palm, elbow flat on the table with your eyes only to hers. “Anyone who would have the chance to be with you is lucky enough to experience what it feels to have a domestic life with you.” You say without thinking of what this might cause to the aura in the room.
“Well, um, not that it matters when I say it.” You say, feeling your palms grow sweaty by the clock. “I think a domestic and simple life with a partner I love is just a really incredible thing, I mean, I would want that kind of life to be mine. Not that I’m assuming that it’s the same thing you want, of course.” You smile apologetically.
“You think about it a lot?” Melissa asks, intrigued to know more and yet still going back to what you previously said about her. Even though she knows she has feelings for you, it still sits in the back of her mind that she may not be fond of marriage. Especially with things during and after Joe, she’s not sure when, but she knows she’s not ready for anything other than a relationship. No marriage, no union or anything.
But why is it that when she thinks of you, she thinks of marriage? She thinks of a life where she wakes up with you on her side. She gets ready in front of her vanity with your reflection in the mirror adoring her from behind. Walking hand in hand around every corner of town. Giving each other flowers just because you felt like it. Taking care of each other when one’s sick. Talking about everything and nothing at night.
“Marriage? Not a lot, but settling with someone I love? Of course.” You like the topic of it all. You love love; how it’s always there, how it doesn’t always have to be a person, that it can grow in places or on people you don’t expect. To love and be loved is what you want, and have always wanted. “I want to one day be loved. To be held, heard. Be sappy and all. To wake up and do the littlest of things. It doesn’t matter if it’s only a quiet day at home or looking through the grocery list while the sounds of the washing machine bustle in the background.” After that brief monologue, you catch Melissa’s eyes.
“You never know.” She gives you that reassuring and hopeful smile. “That person might just be the one in front of you after all.” Melissa sees the way your expression changes from sentimental to a confused furrowed look that made her eyes widen upon realizing what she had just said.
This makes you think for a bit, your brain split in half. Is she just being helpful with the conversation or is she confessing something. She waits for a response quietly as the two of you silently sit across each other. Does she regret saying this? Is she overthinking things?
“I hope so.” You respond nervously. “Are you saying what I hope you’re saying?” She takes her hand out on the table, hoping for yours to hold hers and you do so.
“I want it to be me.” She holds your hand softly.
“Oh.” The only word that came out of you, not being able to process things immediately. Until this registers in mind. “Oh.” You’re clueless as to how to respond. “I need to pinch myself.” You say before standing up, in which Melissa lets out a soft laugh. “Jesus Christ.” You mumble to yourself.
Melissa stands up to tidy the table, but all you can do is freeze in place. Perhaps this is what really happens when your mind short circuits. She puts the used dishes properly in the sink, before wiping her hands clean where she then walks to stand near you, the counter facing your back as she is now standing in front of you. Only the surface of the counter and Melissa in between your body, with only a shorter distance between herself and you. She walks closer, making you walk back, but the edge of the counter is now sticking to your lower back. Both of her hands are placed on either side of the counter behind you.
You clear your throat, only able to look her right in the eyes. Her lips were right there, ready for you to lean in closer just to feel what you’ve always wanted to feel. Her. The risk is for you to take. No, for the both of you to take.
“May I kiss you?” Before you could receive a vocal response, you feel her lips coming in closer onto yours. With closed eyes, Melissa’s hands make their way up to your hips, then to your waist, which slightly lifts up the shirt you were wearing; and so the coolness of your untouched waist was cooled from her fingertips.
A smile grows from your lips, returning it. The world feels as though it froze around the two of you. She pulls away only to look at you and your stunned and lovesick reaction, not wanting the moment to end before kissing you again. A groan escapes her lips, relief and excitement. “You don’t know how long I’ve wanted this.” Melissa mumbles in between kisses.
You swoop in and place both of your hands on her cheeks, feeling the warmth of her face on your palms. She takes a short step back as you lean more into the kiss, giving a light bite on her lower lip where she then smiles softly. “You’re the most beautiful person I have ever seen.” You whisper close to her, feeling her pull you closer by the waist. You’re smitten, and finally, she knows.
Your hands find themselves on Melissa’s shoulders as she pulls you in for a tight hug, her arms snaking around your waist as you rest your head on the crook of her neck.
The world froze around us, you kissed me good night.

helaegond raising the twins + maelor but it's just helaegon being sleep deprived parents and Aemond stepping in before they accidentally kill themselves or their kids.
like, Aemond walking in on Aegon rocking a bundle of blankets and having to put his own brother down for a nap, who quickly begs him to stay, cause he can't fall asleep on his own anymore.
Helaena trying to feed the children while fighting off sleep and just making Aemond anxious so he says he'll do it himself (how he will do that, he doesn't know, he's just got a lot of will and a lot of love for his sister, so he'll manage)
Aemond taking the kids out for the day so Aegon and Helaena can enjoy a day in bed, without a worry in the world (they have separation anxiety with their kids and don't stop worrying the entire time). similarly, Aemond being the one to settle the kids for bed; getting them dinner, a bath, a bed time story, actually getting them to fall asleep.
family cuddle piles; Aemond being sassy and pretending he doesn't like it, but he's got one arm around Helaena, Aegons latched onto his middle, 'laenas holding Maelor, the twins are tangled up in their legs, they're all currently considering getting a bigger bed, all is well.
I just want them to be a disaster co-parenting throuple

Do you know some fanfics where Tom and Harry raise a child together? I don't know if there are any like that but l like the idea and I like to think what their dynamic with the child would be.
Thanks for the ask, anon! I can definitely think of some great fics with Harry and Tom taking on a co-parenting role together, ranging across various scenarios from adoption to biological children (both separate and together) to horcrux children.
*
Tomarrymort Recs – Co-Parenting
aquila by @treacleteacups (T, 4k, complete)
In which Harry takes in Voldemort’s kid after the war. (Summary: “No,” Harry answers sharply. “No orphanages, no distant relatives. She’ll be moving in with me.”)
Changelings by @treacleteacups (T, 2k, complete)
In which Harry and Tom’s 2 children travel back in time to meet Tom while he’s a student at Hogwarts. (Summary: Two random children won't stop calling Tom 'dad', and it's actually driving him insane.)
Custodarium by Tina48 (E, 73k, complete)
In which Harry and Tom open an orphanage together for magical children. (Summary: Harry ends up back in 1943, and shows Tom a different path for his future.)
Either must die at the hand of the other by @metalomagnetic (E, 260k, complete)
In which Harry and Voldemort co-parent Delphini. (Summary: Voldemort survives the Battle of Hogwarts and is initially kept prisoner in Azkaban, until Harry takes him into Grimmauld Place under house arrest.)
Growth Left by authoresswithoutwords (T, 19k, complete)
In which Harry and Tom are godparents to one of the children of Harry’s classmates. (Summary: Puck, Harry's godson, as he's growing up and becoming an adult.)
How Many Snakes Do We Need to Turn a House into a Home? (part 1) / Foxfire's Light (part 2) by @vestiges-of-light (T, 182k, WIP)
In which Harry and Voldemort settle down and raise a family of five children who are all Parselmouths. (Summary: With the last peace treaty sworn in their marriage vows, the world is quieter now. Voldemort serves in the Wizengamot and Harry in the Muggle Liaison Office. Harrymort domesticity, fluff, and kidfic oneshots.) Note: These 2 fics are sequels to a longer fic called Cicatrization, but the author explains that it's not required to first read Cicatrization to understand these 2 fics. A full explanation of where we are at in the series is provided in the Endnotes of Chapter 1. I don’t think it’s necessary to have read the earlier fic either; if kidfic is what you’re looking for, I highly recommend you to give this a try!
like angels put in hell by god (part 1) by @duplicitywrites (M, 1k, complete)
In which Harry and Tom co-parent Tom’s horcrux children. (Summary: This little boy, barely five years old and Tom Riddle in miniature, boasted beautiful emerald eyes. “A piece of you,” Tom said lightly, kissing Harry’s cheek in greeting, “and a piece of me.”) Note: Part 2 (by @crowcrowcrowthing) | Part 3 (by @cindle-writes), featuring more horcrux children.
The Closing Of The Year by kcstories (T, 5k, complete)
In which Harry and Tom co-parent Albus Severus Potter. (Summary: After his divorce, Harry moves in with Tom Riddle. So does his ten-year-old son Albus Severus, who tries his utmost to get used to his new surroundings and to the strange, sinister man his dad has fallen in love with.)

Thinking of the AYITL ending and if it happened circa 2008 (the mythical season 8) like it was supposed to...and there's been so much focus about what a wretched ending for Rory it would be if it had happened then, but I've just now thinking how it would be so messy for Logan and Jess, too.
Logan is 26, getting married to a Huntzberger dynasty-approved fiance, when his college girlfriend he was having a last fling with turns up pregnant...now it's not the end of the world, he can leave, he can co-parent, but I fear with ASP at the helm what would be in store would be a bunch of messy adultery and Rory not quite able to ever cut ties with him. Given the way she's written in AYITL, I'm not sure she would even say no to being kept as a secret family/mistress, if just for practical reasons. If Logan left Odette for her....I honestly don't think that would last long, either. Gawd, how depressing. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Then you have Jess, who at 23 has worked very hard to defeat everyone else's lowered expectations of him and start over on his own. Now he's drawn back into Rory's orbit as she navigates this baby daddy situation, perhaps still remaining involved with Logan? Not the end of the world, either, maybe he'll like family life at that age, maybe Logan can co-parent and everything will be okay...but if this is truly ASP's vision, he'll be stuck in another messy love triangle situation, again relegated to being the sidepiece and I don't want that for him. I want him to enjoy the life he's earned, to be single, to enjoy life as an adult, to start writing on his own and develop his own career. I want him to enjoy the creative life that Lane didn't get to have, that we assume that Rory probably wasted.
And yeah, maybe this whole cycle gets repeated when everyone is in their thirties, but it's easier for me to imagine that Rory and Logan could raise a kid separately, that she's wise enough to draw boundaries with him, that dating a single mom is something that Jess would want. You force everyone into this situation when they are barely adults and just seems to stymie the potential of everyone involved and create a toxic situation for the kid that's in the middle of it. I don't want that for anyone!
So no, I think the costs of ASP writing that season 7 or season 8 storyline is something best avoided. I'd rather think of these characters leading a fulfilling life offscreen than experience whatever torture she had in store for them. Let them enjoy their freedom, at least for a little bit.

Wait. Back up. So there's like. A significant difference between the way you feel about your dearest friends/family, and the way you're supposed to feel about a romantic partner, and it isn't "I wanna fuck you stupid" OR "co-dependent attachment based on my low self-esteem and desire for outside validation from someone I think is better than me"?
And this third thing is what you're supposed to base your choice of romantic partners on. And losing it is an immense tragedy that is grounds for ending a relationship, even if you remain compatible for continuing your life projects together in all other ways.
It is also, while not being some kind of co-dependent attachment, grounds for not being able to be friends with someone if they don't feel the same way about you.
And we aren't just randomly putting a label on something and elevating it because it helps reinforce cishet-patriarchal relationship ideals.
Are we sure about this? Can anyone describe it to me? Is it in the room with us right now?
"I get nervous and excited when I'm around them," doesn't everyone feel that way when they really want someone else to like them?
"I feel like my life won't be complete if they don't form a certain kind of relationship with me," is that not co-dependent attachment?
"I really really love them and want to have sex with them," those are two separate things, why is there something magical about both of them happening at once?
"I want to live with them for the rest of my life," because you get along well, have shared values and compatible life projects, and your financial needs/desires are similar?
"I want to raise kids with them," because you have a shared set of goals as parents and your other goals and projects mesh well with that. Right? Right?
"I want to breed with them," well now you're just telling me more than I wanted to know about your fetishes.

———
Looking around the crowded bar, Maverick sighed to himself seeing Penny working behind the bar like normal. He stared longingly at her before he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Come on Mav” Bradley hummed, leading him over to the bar taking a seat that wasn’t surrounded by a ton of people. He watched as Penny made her way over to the two of them with beers in hand “Penny… Mav’s got something he’s gotta tell you” Pete glanced at the bar as Penny placed the beers down.
“Well hello to you too Lieutenant Bradshaw” she smiled back at him “What’s up?” she leaned over the bar to Pete and raised a brow seeing how nervous the normally cheeky pilot was.
Maverick looked around before looking back to Penny “Can we talk in the office?” Penny’s face dropped as she looked to Rooster, who just mouthed ‘I’ll watch the bar’, she motioned for Pete to follow, leading him into the back office.
He entered the office first and as soon as Penny shut the door her hands took his in hers “Okay you’re really scaring me, what’s going on?”
Maverick looked to the ground once more, contemplating if he really needed to do this before he looked back up to Penny “Do you remember Charlie Blackwood?” Penny nodded “We were together for… a long time… she and I….” he stopped himself thinking over how to say what he needed to say “She got a promotion not long after Goose died, I would visit her in Washington… and at some point we-” he stopped himself again before letting out a long sigh.
“We have a kid… I have a daughter” he finally spat out.
Penny’s eyes widened taking in what Pete had said before she nodded “Okay, keep going” Pete just raised his brow “Oh come on Pete, it’d be a little hypocritical of me to get upset about this” she hummed “So you have a daughter?” she walked over to lean against the office desk
Mav nodded “She’s just like her mother” a small smile came to his lips “She’s absolutely a force of nature… she was the smallest thing but I already knew I would do anything for her, Charlie will tell you she’s a firecracker like me” he chuckled “After she was born, Charlie ended up being able to work remotely… so she moved back here to Miramar while I had my brief stint as an instructor…” his foot bounced as he talked “Charlie and I split when she was ten… we tried to make it work but it just didn't” he explained “Charlie got offered a promotion by the pentagon and she took it, the out she’d been looking for… I knew she’d have been better off going with Charlie so they moved to Washington, that’s when Charlie and I learned we worked better as separate co-parents than we were together” he sat down on the couch Penny had in the office, continuing to stare at the floor.
“I’d visit whenever I could, weekends, holidays, birthdays” he looked to the ground “When she turned 18 she told me she was joining the Navy… and I-” he stopped himself again, and gulped “I didn’t pull her papers like with Rooster… but I wasn’t exactly happy about it” he started to rock back and forth on his heels as his nails dug into the palms of his hands “She’s 29…. She called me-”
“And she’s gonna be stationed here?” Penny cut him off watching as Maverick gawked “It’s not that hard to see where you were going with it” she hummed “So… what are you gonna do?”
Mavericks shoulders slumped “It’s been eleven years since I last spoke to her…. Sure we still sent each other cards, maybe a text to check in with each other every other month… but… Charlie basically raised her Penny, I…. I’m just there I don’t… she asked if I knew if there were any good places to stay so she wouldn’t have to be assigned a home by the base”
Crossing her arms in front of herself, Penny tilted her head slightly to the side “You told her she’s welcome to stay with us right?”
Pete’s eyes went wide and his face paled at the thought “No!” He quickly said “Sorry…. Just… I didn’t really think that her staying with us was a good idea since, I still don’t know where we stand… and since the last she and her mom heard, I was single and living the bachelor life” he sighed “I told her that the place I was assigned when I first got back to Miramar hasn’t been touched so she could stay there if she wanted since I’ve been staying somewhere else” Penny just nodded “She’s gonna be here tomorrow… and I don’t know what I’m gonna do if I see her on the base…”
Penny’s eyes softened seeing how stressed Pete was over this whole thing, she walked over to and sat next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder “What you’re gonna do is start out small… make small talk, if she acknowledges you in strictly professional way then you know where she stands… and if she tries to make small talk back” a small smile came to her lips “Then there might be some hope for you two” she leaned closer to him to kiss his cheek “You can take a few minutes in here if you want but I’ve gotta get back to the bar okay?” he nodded watching as Penny left.
Leaving the office, as she shut the door Penny debated going back in before deciding against it, seeing how Pete needed time to process. Making her way back over to the bar, Penny paused seeing Rooster threaten to ring the bell. Smiling to herself she made her way back behind the counter “I hope you’re not abusing the use of my bell Bradshaw?”
He turned to her pretending to be shocked “I would never” he chuckled moving back to his seat “Is Mav okay” he hummed.
Penny just nodded moving behind the bar “He just doesn't know what to do… So you know his daughter?”
Rooster chuckled once more, raising his beer up to take a sip before he spoke “Oh yeah… We practically grew up together”
Penny hummed for a moment before leaning over the bar top “What’s she like?” Rooster’s eyes widened “I don’t wanna know everything about her, I just wanna know the basics”
The man sighed “First off… if you ever meet her, don’t bring up Maverick” Penny reflected on how Bradley for once used Maverick’s actual name “I’m gonna assume he told you about their fight?”
“Not in detail” she nodded
“It was bad… like really bad, it happened over the summer when she was supposed to be staying with him… but after the fight happened and she ended up staying with my mom and I till she went back to Charlie” Penny’s heart ached at his words, he paused debating about saying the next part, but in his head he knew he had to tell her, if not for Y/N then to save Penny the trouble later “She used to have Pete’s last name… But when she got back to DC she changed it to Blackwood… she made sure to distance herself from Maverick”
Penny bit the inside of her cheeks before she spoke “So no talk of Pete at all?”
Rooster nodded “Only talk about him if she brings him up first” Leaning back over the bar to met Penny halfway he lowered his voice “Listen Penny, you’re pretty much my aunt… and you make Mav happy, we both wanna see him happy right” Penny nodded “You can’t tell Mav but I still talk to her… when she comes tomorrow, she’s not on base right away, they gave her two days to settle in… I can suggest coming here tomorrow night so you can met her, test out the waters, okay?”
“Really?” Her voice was hopeful.
Bradley nodded the quickly pointed at Penny “But you can’t tell Mav and you can’t tell her that you’re his girlfriend”
She nodded “Done deal and tomorrow anything the two of you order is one the house” she gave him a soft smile “Thank you Bradley”
“Oh no problem” he hummed “she’s practically my little sister, as much as she wants to hold a grudge like I did… “ he glanced back to the office seeing how Pete was still sitting on the couch “I know he regrets what he did… she and Mav should be in each others lives” Penny smiled at how Bradley thought of the two before she frowned slightly “What is it?” Roost furrowed his brows, seeing Penny’s expression
“I just realized that we’ve been talking about this girl for almost half an hour, and not you nor Pete have mentioned her name once” she leaned back from the bar top.
A small snort came from the lieutenant “Go figures” he laughed “Her name is-”
“Y/N” a sweet voice called out as Y/N layed on her side, the voice pulled her partially out of slumber. “Y/N” the voice called again this time she felt her bed dip before a kiss was placed upon her shoulder “Sweetheart, we should get up” the voice rested it’s head rested on her shoulder “it’s almost 11”
A groan came from Y/N as she rolled over and snuggled into the embrace of the voice “So?” she hummed as a pair of arms wrapped around her waist “We’ve both got the day off… can’t we just stay here” a laugh followed her suggestion “Jake!’ she whined “please, we hardly ever get to lay around” she opened her eyes and turned her head slightly to catch the glimpse of the pilot who just smiled softly at her.
He dipped his head down to place a kiss along Y/N’s jaw. “You know more than anything how much I wanna do that” he mumbled against her skin “But you said we were gonna move your car and your bike… and your boxes out of my garage…” Jake’s arm leaned against the pillow as he rested his head on his hand, brushing hair from Y/N’s face “Not to mention you said you were gonna call your mom”
Y/N chuckled “Oh how could I forget with you reminding me” she smiled. “Well…” she started, moving to untangle herself from Jake’s grasp “should we start getting ready then?” Jake hummed in agreement before the start left the bed.
It wasn’t long before Y/N was up and moving into the kitchen as Jake poured out a bowl of cereal for Y/N before settling into a chair. Taking her bowl Y/N shoved a spoonful of the sugary cinnamon bites into her mouth before leaning back against Jake’s chest with her phone in one hand as she opened her contacts before hitting the call button on one of them
Placing the phone on the table, Y/N resumed eating as it rang. “What do you think your mom’s doing right now?” Jake hummed, resting his head on Y/N’s shoulder.
“She’s probably in between meetings or something” the phone rang a few more times before the other end picked up
“Charlotte Blackwood, how can I help you?” The other end of the line called out.
“Hi Mom, You’re on speaker and Jake’s with me so behave” Y/N said taking a bite of her cereal as a chuckle came from the phone.
“Hi Charlie,” Jake called out.
A chuckle followed before Charlie spoke “Hi Jake, are you helping my girlie settle in okay?”
“Yes Ma’am” He saluted as if she could see him, causing Y/N to lightly nudge his shoulder.
“Thank you again Jake” Charlie paused before continuing “Hey Y/N take me off speaker for a minute”
Y/N furrowed her brows, setting the bowl of cereal down, following the request. Standing from Jake’s lap, Y/N made her way into the hallway of Jake’s house “okay, you’re off speaker” she leaned against the wall.
“Did you talk to your dad like I asked?” a sigh came from Y/N and before she could respond, Charlie cut her off “I know you don’t like talking to him, but he’s still your father Y/N an-”
“Yes, I talked to him” Y/N cut Charlie off “I can talk to him if its needed, I’m not entirely an asshole” she mumbled and wrapped her arms around herself “He said that I can stay at the house he was assigned”
There was a pause on Charlie’s end “... Is he staying there with you?”
Shaking her head Y/N bit the inside of her cheek before speaking “No, he’s been staying somewhere else, but he said the house hasn’t been touched since he’s been here… I’ve gotta pick up the keys from him at some point today”
There was shuffling on Charlie’s end before she spoke “Well that’s good that you found somewhere to stay… You know I saw in a file from Admiral Simpon I was studying for a lesson that your Dad’s working at Top Gun now”
A scoff came from Y/N “Go figures-”
“Y/N.” Charlie started “you are 29, I don’t wanna scold you like a child for acting like this but I will if I have too… Like it or not you’re stationed in Miramar for the next two years and you are going to see your father at some point or another.” her voice commanded “I don’t need any complaints crossing my desk about insubordination for either of you or so help me I will come over there myself to set you both straight. Is that understood?”
“Yes ma’am” Y/N leaned her head back against the wall before a sigh could be heard from Charlie’s end and her voice softened.
“I know what he did was horrendous, and as your mother I am not saying you have to forgive him because that’s entirely your choice… but professionally and as your superior officer this grudge will get you killed… we both know it” Y/N nodded her head as if she could be seen “Your father’s not gonna do or say anything unless he has to… he knows not to overstep, but if he’s concerned it’s because he’s still your dad… just don’t fault him or go ballistic on him for it, to him you’re still his little girl” she paused before continuing “and I can’t imagine that after all these years he still stands by what he said”
Rubbing her temple Y/N nodded once more, just picturing her mothers concerned look as if she was standing right infront of her “Yeah I got it Mom, listen Jake and I have gotta get my stuff moved out of his place, I gotta go”
“Okay… I love you” Y/N could feel her mothers slight smile and softener gaze through the phone
“I love you too Mom” Y/N hummed before hanging up. Turning to the wall, Y/N banged her forehead against lightly muttering to herself “He couldn’t have been back in the desert” before making her way back into the kitchen to finish her by-now soggy cereal.

Plss but also what about little Nico being Seb’s bio puppy and Lewis Toto’s? Rule 63 verse!
Seb was left by her boyfrien when she was pregnant but with her family’s help she raised baby Nico! This ball of blonde with big eyes that won’t leave momma’s side!
Meanwhile Lewis’s mom left him with his Sire the moment he was born! He’s a little shy but really loves papa and is his little protector!
Lewis and Nico meet in the daycare and become one! No one can separate them! Toto and Seb arrange a play date so that the kiddos can still see each other on weekends! Toto offering his house but says they can go to Seb’s if it is more comfortable and safe for her! Seb accepting bc maybe Nico has some sensory issues? And at home Seb knows what toys Nico likes to touch and they are just more comfortable! The kiddos playing together while the adults watch them and talk over a cup of coffee!
The playdates start to be frecuent and the more the puppies grow the more they love each other! Also Lewis loving Sebbi’s cuddles and jokes and Nico more shyly asking Toto for uppies bc he’s soooo tall and strong! Seb and Toto start falling for each other so naturally and start dating!! The kiddies woudl be so exited to be brother and sister now!
Oh pls!
Seb being such a proud momma of her tiny little nico! sure it was scary when she was left by her boyfriend while she was pregnant, but she is happy now and loves her daughter more than anything in the world! Nico is a shy little thing who loves momma just as much as is often just 2 big blue eyes peeking around momma's legs when there is strangers!
And Toto being a little frazzled when a one night stand shows up with a tiny baby boy saying he is his problem now, but he will love Lewis with all he has! Lewis loves papa so much and feels so safe with papa!
Both kiddos struggle to make friends sometimes because they are both a little shy but they meet at daycare and hit it off so much! The first day when both parents come to pick up their kiddos, the two are snuggled up together on a bean bag looking at a picture book and Nico was even allowed to hold Lewis's precious teddy bear!
Seb and Toto introducing themselves to each other because they know these kiddos will need playdates! Toto offering his house but also saying seb's house is fine if it's better, bur also saying he would like to be there for the duration of at least the first playdate, cos Lewis a sensitive little thing in new situations!
Seb preferring to have it as his house cos Nico has sensory issues and is more confident at home and less likely to have issues! Pls little nico is so excited when she hears Lewis isncoming over she barely sleeps and wante to wear her fav princess dress! And when Lewis and Toto arrive, it's awkward for only 2 seconds before Nico says Lewis's bear needs to meet her teddies and drags him off!
Seb offering Toto coffee and they sit and chat while the kiddos play and they get along so well too! The playdates become more frequent but most of the time both parents are there, definitely just to keep an eye on the kids not just because they want to hang out with the other parent! The kids also becoming more comfortable with the other adult, Lewis loves Seb's cuddles and Nico doesn't mind sharing her momma. And Nico wants uppies from Toto and sit on his shoulders cos he is so so tall!
When seb and toto get together and kids are so excited! They are siblings now for real!!

Signs of Michael and Joey’s romantic relationship in M2D:
Tumblr media
(In no particular order.)
* They live together and co-parent a child.
* Actually say aloud they want more kids. Together.
* Fostered a second child, for a brief period of time. Likely would have adopted him if the law permitted it. (Ooh, now I’m sad.)
* They call each other “babe.” Constantly.
* Michael’s whole speech to his mother defending his relationship with Joey as parents. Even bringing up that she’d be happier if he was married to a woman. It was treated deadly serious. No laugh track.
* Joey calls Michael’s mom his “mother-in-law.” And she calls him her “son-in-law.” Again, no laugh track for these comments.
* Mrs. Taylor being the almost stereotypical neurotic mother of a gay man. Think Mrs. Bates. (Sorry, Michael.)
* Joey’s father struggling to understand his son’s choices in life mirroring conversations parents have with their queer offspring.
* Nicole walking in on them “pillow fighting” in the “Joey’s MIL” episode. Joey was trying to suffocate Michael in anger, but the implication that they were having “adult time” was still obvious.
* Michael dressing up in drag as Joey’s pregnant wife (Felicia) with whom he has 10 children.
* They frequently touch each other. Clothes adjustments, face grabbing, friendly punches, pats on the back, etc.
* Constant winking comments like “does this mean we’re dating again?” “whatever happened to ‘honey, I’m home’?” and “how come you never send me roses?”
* Alludes to their separation as a “divorce” in “Pop, The Question.” Played almost completely straight.
* They go to a marriage counselor in the same episode.
* “We’re nothing like a married couple!”
“How would you describe your relationship?”
“We live together, we raise a kid, we fight like hell. So, what, every Thursday?”
* Are somewhat hesitant in their responses to the “are you gay?” question she poses. (Michael STILL calls Joey “babe” in their answers.)
* Them getting drunk in episode one and waking up in the same bed. Clothes on, granted, but still.
* Michael’s definition of a friend: “Friend- Someone I have seen naked!”
* “And you are?”
“Joey Harris. The other father.”
“Ah. Divorced?”
“No, we’re living together.”
* Are VERY easily guilt-tripped by Nicole into living together as a family instead of being separated co-parents.
* They have the gayest “straight” friends I’ve ever seen.
* Clearly the commentary in “The Family in Question” mirrors comments made about real-life same-sex parents. Mainly that the media is questioning two men’s ability to properly parent a child.

MOTA High School AU HC’s: Buck and Bucky.
I’ve been seeing other people talking of a MOTA high school au. So I just would luv to drop all of my HC’s for mine that I’ve been working on with @ihearteugeneroe !!!
Edit: I’ve been writing these and I’m just going to make separate posts for separate characters because I really went over my head with this one!
MOTA Masterlist!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buck/Bucky:
•Gale comes from a very wealthy family. His parents are both lawyers and he has two little sisters who are twins.
•Gales family is somewhat religious like church on the holidays but his grandparents are super religious. His grandma does not like John at all.
•Meatball is also the Clevens family dog 3:
•John is an only child of two emotionally unavailable parents who should be divorced. His dad had an affair when he was 11 and they then moved from Wisconsin to Wyoming for a fresh start. There he meets the rest of them. His parents fight all the time and he gets stuck in the middle of it. So he stays with the Clevens a lot.
•John and Gale are the co captains of the football team.
•John was always picky but as he was forced into playing football and he doesn’t really like it. His dad is always on him about his body and it’s now weened him into a full blown eating disorder.
•Gale is very much aware and he started making lunch to bring John at school that was easy on his stomach.
•When they go out John ONLY orders chicken strips and fries. That or John and Gale will pick something out together on the menu and share it.
•Buck is an AP/Honors student. He gets straight A’s and he knows his parents have high standards for him.
•John on the other hand has ADHD. He struggles in school, specially with math.
•Gale helps him out a lot with his homework. He’s always so patient with him and making sure he understands what’s going on.
•JOHN IS A FUCKING BAND KID ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?
•he plays trombone and he’s in marching band.
•Gale loves watching him perform the halftime show at football games in his football uniform.
•John also is in theater. Not like every production but the ones he really likes. He’s not great at singing but he’s a good actor and makes everyone laugh.
•John and Gale take electives together for fun like home ec or jewlery class. One time they took a class about raising kids together and got to do an infamous ‘baby project’
•John, however though is a CERAMICS GOD!!!!
•he’s besties with the art teacher and she lets him come in and throw on the wheel anytime he has study halls.
•Gale is OBSESSED with watching John throw on the wheel. He’s so obsessed with his hands and it drives him crazy.
•Gale is a total stoner versus where Bucky DRINKS.
•Gale wears glasses but he always has contacts in. When John sees him in glasses though right before bed he goes INSANE!!!

A huge hc I have about Majima and Kiryu’s relationship: They’re microdosing on co-parenting. As in, the same way that we say they’re ludo-narratively having sex when they fight, they’re also raising a family that way.
I think Majima would be secretly eager to meet the MG kids because they’re detached from the clan. He’ll still do the entire song and dance of his well manicured façade, claiming he’s not interested in snot nosed brats, even though we know better. After years of taking care of Daigo the idea of being allowed into this other inner sanctum of Kiryu’s would be another step up in their relationship.
Cause the reality is that Kiryu really had no set path in life other than to follow Kazama. And after Kazama died… what choice did he really have but to become him? Majima, however, he, Saejima, and Yasuko wanted things. They had plans and goals and deeply eternal wants. Majima wanted a family. If he hadn’t been so deeply ingrained in the yakuza world he would’ve stayed with Makoto or Mirei. He liked being a cabaret manager to some degree. In 2/3 of these situations there was a child involved and he wanted to care for said child. And now… we’ll he’s already given the idea up until Kiryu comes to him with Daigo. Yeah, he’s already grown, but he’s mine and I’m letting him be yours too.
Kiryu’s the one who keeps his family “separated” from his yakuza life and no matter how happy Majima makes him, he’s an outlier. He belongs to Tojo the same way Daigo and Kashiwagi do. Family, but ultimately yakuza. But for Majima, who did what Kiryu is just now trying to do, he’s desperate. Majima cut everyone off when he was relocated to Sotenbori and basically stayed that way. Sotenbori was his Okinawa. Even Sagawa asked Majima why is he paying all of this money to rejoin when he is clearly making hella cash and is a town celebrity. Then after 88’ he cuts everyone off AGAIN. Then he falls in love and makes friends and cuts them off AGAIN. He’s tried and tried, and truthfully? Nishida, Minami, Okada, etc? All his subordinates. He’s raising them through the ranks and isn’t their equal. Kiryu though? He’s such a perfect equal that for a while Shimano makes him the enemy. Kazama’s pet, mysterious Sera’s golden ticket. Then Kiryu gives him his prodigal first born. Formally wayward, newly set straight. Majima doesn’t need to raise him through the ranks, he just has to help him keep afloat… like a son.
Kiryu’s the only person who touches and leaves the clan like Majima does. Kiryu has a taste of heaven and Majima has a taste of it too. Majima’s taking care of Daigo, Kiryu’s taking care of Haruka. It’s a fair trade off isn’t it? Majima has friends in the industry, Kiryu has followers in the business. Kiryu has the dream and Majima has the means to secure it but they won’t indulge in it because if you have heaven and I have heaven… where’s the atonement? Where do we pay for the pain and suffering? We don’t. We’ll just make sure the kids don’t suffer like us.

Family Related BSD Head Canons
Ryunosuke and Gin came from money before they were sent to the streets
Their mom was a model (literally have you seen how pretty both the Akutagawa siblings are??) while their dad was old money dealing with some shady shit
Dazai changed his name from Tsushima Shuji to Dazai Osamu when he first joined the Port Mafia
By change his name I mean Mori asked for it after saving him from a suicide attempt and he replied with the first name to come to mind
Despite being shitty parents 'Shuji's parents reported him missing almost immediatley
Dazai has an older brother named Bunji
Kunikida was born from a cheating scandal, aka the father who raised him isn't his biological father, despite this the two of them were close
Katai got the most upset when kids bullied/teased Kunikida for being a 'bastard' when they were in school
Kenji absolutely has multiple siblings back home, he is also 100% the oldest
He's closest to his immediately younger sister Toshi
Despite being close with his family, the first one of Kenji's co-workers to learn about his siblings was Kyouka, when Kenji randomly said "You'd really like my sister!" to her out of the blue and left everyone else incredibly confused
Yosano had to have lost her parents right before or soon after she was recruited by Mori
Hirotsu has an ex-wife and one son that he lost contact with when he officially joined the mafia all those years ago
He doesn't even know he has a grand daughter
Herman Melville also has an ex-wife but he keeps in close contact with all of his kids and grand kids, no one else in the Guild knows about said kids and grand kids
Louisa has an older sister and two younger sisters
Her parents are a little weary about her being apart of a technical terrorist organization, but they all keep in pretty consistent contact
Louisa is also incredibly close to her niece through letters and facetimes
Poe's parents died when he was incredibly young, and he was separated from his siblings as a result
Both of his siblings have abilities as well, but Edgar's is definitely the most powerful one
His older brother Henry helped him get into the military
Henry died of a lung disease when he was twenty four and Poe was twenty two, which made losing his brother and losing to Ranpo happened during an incredibly close time period
Despite that he is still close to his little sister Rosalie, who's a teacher back in Richmond, Virginia
And finally
Atsushi's biological parents were not abusive to him in the slightest, they either got mixed up with The Book or with Fyodor when Atsushi was a baby and died as a consequence

Mahdi Zahir "Junior" Middleton
He's a science baby with two biological dads (Zahir and Dylan)
He isn't called Junior because he's named after one of his parents. He's called Junior because that was the nickname they gave him before he was born, when they didn't know his biological sex, and the nickname kind of stuck. He's been called Junior all his life, and a lot of people who know him don't actually know his legal name.
His dads separated before he was born. Zahir wasn't there for his birth, which is why his legal last name is Middleton instead of Omar. However, he was raised almost exclusively by Zahir (and later also by his stepmom Zainah). It was always awkward for him to have a different last name than his dad and his step-brother Mohammad, and now that he's an adult, he's considering legally changing his surname to Omar.
He speaks Arabic as his first language, but also thinks of English as his "co-first" language, having heard it from his nanny from the time he was an infant. He's also fluent in French which he learned in school and practises regularly with his best friend Belle and her parents whose first language is French.
He was teased as a kid for not doing well in school, and he used to act out for attention. Wanting to get to the bottom of it, his father and stepmother had him tested for various physical, psychological and cognitive issues. They discovered that he has above-average intelligence but that he has moderate dyslexia. With therapy and and intervention, and with adequate accommodations, he did much better in school. He opted to learn a trade instead of going to university, and is now a journeyman carpenter. He loves working with his hands and has a real talent for detail woodworking. He thinks he'd like to specialize in finish carpentry and cabinetry, which are fine-tuned carpentry skills.

[ … ] ❀ you’re not from around here, are you? i figured because you totally just missed emma cicciaro walking by. don’t tell me you don’t know who she is ? they kind of look like chase sui wonders and i could be wrong but i think that they might be 27 years old right now. they’ve been living in palmview for the last 27 years. and i don’t know if anyone has ever told them this before but they kind of remind me of effy stonem from skins. if you stick around the town long enough you might catch them in action working at the salty sailor bar as a server. you see this town isn’t really that big of a place, some folks like to call them the hellcat of palmview! they took a liking to the name too after a while, go figure. oh crap, they must have heard me yapping. they’re coming this way. i got to warn you though, rumor has it they can pretty self-indulgent at times. i wouldn’t take it too seriously though, from the times i’ve spoken to them they seemed pretty free-spirited to me. we see each other all the time since they live in that 5 bedroom apartment beside me over in coral cove. i better leave you to it. it was nice meeting you!

biography  .
born and raised in palmview. with absent parents who were unhappy with each other, emma learned to fend for herself at an early age. as a kid she was quiet and often kept to herself, but as she grew older she began engaging in hedonistic pursuit  –  alcohol, drugs, sex  –  it was her coping mechanism, a need to feel something.
she was very much a loner at school. an outcast of some sort, for that she brought trouble everywhere she went and had no desire to fit in with the rest of her peers (she didn't mind the attention though). it didn't stop a few people from befriending her, and once they managed to earn her trust, they've got a ride or die for life.
when she was sixteen, her parents finally separated. despite being aware of the illicit affair between her mother and the other guy, it wasn’t emma who told her father, and yet her mother blamed her for it. she let it be, and eventually her mother went spiraling following the divorce, causing emma to step up and take care of the house. she dropped out of high school at seventeen and took part-time jobs to support both of them.
five years later, emma decided she had enough. she had always wanted to leave town anyways, so she took the chance and ran to los angeles, california with her best friend charlotte. thing is charlotte thought it was just an impromptu girls’ trip, but emma was dead set on staying, so a fight ensued between them before charlotte ended up going back to palmview, leaving emma alone in los angeles.
life in los angeles was exciting, to say the least. she stayed there for 5 years, believing that she’s having the time of her life, but lowkey she just felt more lost than ever. staying in los angeles made her realize that she has better things back at home. as much as she wanted to get the hell out and never came back, the people she grew up with made it hard for her to stay away for long. palmview is where she belongs after all.
