my friend introduced me to the late 80s sitcom My Two Dads and oh my God if I were a gay person in the late 80/early 90/ i would have been FOAMING AT THE MOUTH over these two like it is peak mlm domestic fluff but ofc bc it was the 80s/90s they made them straight, but still like i actually need people to go watch that show bc i swear i am not normal about them
and like it was written by the same guy who created boy meets world which is also notoriously mlm coded like the comphet that man had to have been feeling writing both of those shows bc oh my god like
i also need a buddie raising chris au of my two dads where neither of them know who is chris’s real father but they raise him together after shannon dies (and it’s actually gay) bc omg the potential for the enemies to lovers coparenting fluff/angst slowburn that could be???? top tier.

Turning in the girl that stole your whole aesthetic and then did it better than you for murder is a pretty boss move, I have to say. The expert mockery you do of her as she gets away with it is just a bonus.

Signs of Michael and Joey’s romantic relationship in M2D:
Tumblr media
(In no particular order.)
* They live together and co-parent a child.
* Actually say aloud they want more kids. Together.
* Fostered a second child, for a brief period of time. Likely would have adopted him if the law permitted it. (Ooh, now I’m sad.)
* They call each other “babe.” Constantly.
* Michael’s whole speech to his mother defending his relationship with Joey as parents. Even bringing up that she’d be happier if he was married to a woman. It was treated deadly serious. No laugh track.
* Joey calls Michael’s mom his “mother-in-law.” And she calls him her “son-in-law.” Again, no laugh track for these comments.
* Mrs. Taylor being the almost stereotypical neurotic mother of a gay man. Think Mrs. Bates. (Sorry, Michael.)
* Joey’s father struggling to understand his son’s choices in life mirroring conversations parents have with their queer offspring.
* Nicole walking in on them “pillow fighting” in the “Joey’s MIL” episode. Joey was trying to suffocate Michael in anger, but the implication that they were having “adult time” was still obvious.
* Michael dressing up in drag as Joey’s pregnant wife (Felicia) with whom he has 10 children.
* They frequently touch each other. Clothes adjustments, face grabbing, friendly punches, pats on the back, etc.
* Constant winking comments like “does this mean we’re dating again?” “whatever happened to ‘honey, I’m home’?” and “how come you never send me roses?”
* Alludes to their separation as a “divorce” in “Pop, The Question.” Played almost completely straight.
* They go to a marriage counselor in the same episode.
* “We’re nothing like a married couple!”
“How would you describe your relationship?”
“We live together, we raise a kid, we fight like hell. So, what, every Thursday?”
* Are somewhat hesitant in their responses to the “are you gay?” question she poses. (Michael STILL calls Joey “babe” in their answers.)
* Them getting drunk in episode one and waking up in the same bed. Clothes on, granted, but still.
* Michael’s definition of a friend: “Friend- Someone I have seen naked!”
* “And you are?”
“Joey Harris. The other father.”
“Ah. Divorced?”
“No, we’re living together.”
* Are VERY easily guilt-tripped by Nicole into living together as a family instead of being separated co-parents.
* They have the gayest “straight” friends I’ve ever seen.
* Clearly the commentary in “The Family in Question” mirrors comments made about real-life same-sex parents. Mainly that the media is questioning two men’s ability to properly parent a child.

Remember when I wrote NSFW Angst for a cute 80's sitcom
Well I have rectified that angst with a fun and fancy free NSFW sequel and now we can all happily end with a laugh-track again
(I also rectified the ending of the show)

𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬.
Carer!Michael Taylor x Little!Reader
• Getting up in the mornings was always a bit of a pain, especially when you were so tiny. Michael makes it a bit easier.
cw: age regression.
( 665 words )
Tumblr media
Michael’s nails scratched on the top of your head, the sunlight making his skin glow. The curtains were white, not doing a very good job of concealing the daylight. You groaned as you flipped over on the sheets, your palms hiding your face.
“Tired, pup?” Michael asked, tilting his head as he looked down at you. You grumbled incoherently, before forcing your head up to meet his warm gaze.
Finally, you have a short nod as you covered yourself in the warmth of the blanket, holding your stuffed bunny tight to your chest. “I don’t wanna go to work.” You complained, pouting as you flipped on your side.
Sunlight warmed your form but still, the grogginess remained in your eyes. Michael gave a short sigh as his strong arms helped you sit up on the bed, ruffling your hair. “C’mon, little one. We have to get up. I have work and so do you.”
While you wanted to protest, he helped you place your feet on the carpet floor, ignoring the pour curling your bottom lip. Plus, you couldn’t deny that you loved the attention he gave you in the mornings.
“Why don’t you get dressed, sweet pea? Dada will make some breakfast.” He patted your cheek, and you mumbled to yourself grumpily but obligated. The smell of pancakes and bacon wafted through the apartment, and you couldn’t deny how your tummy rumbled.
Soft footsteps pattered down the stairs as you walked up to the kitchen, perching on a bar stool as you watched him flip the bacon over. You held your stuffie close in your arm, juice sitting in your favorite sippy cup.
“Nicole and Joey are out for breakfast, so we should have the morning to ourselves.” Michael sighed playfully, “Who even knows what shenanigans they’re up to.”
You giggled into the head of your stuffie at Michael’s playful words, placing bacon and a stack of pancakes on your plate. “Alright sugar, eat up. Or I’ll be very offended.” He joked, sitting next to you.
Per usual, you decided to add lots of toppings. But of course, Michael always indulged you despite how silly your pancakes looked drizzled with sprinkles, hot fudge and whipped cream. “Dada look- is a smiley face!” You exclaimed proudly, showing him the face on your pancake shaped out with whipped cream.
Michael gave a little gasp as he looked at the pancake, ruffling your hair. “I do have quite the little artist, hm?” He cooed teasingly, watching you take a bite out of the pancakes.
Giggly laughter escaped your lips as you ate, shifting in your seat. “Dada, you’re being silly.” You replied, finishing your breakfast slowly as Michael rose from his chair and checked his watch.
“I’m sorry to give the bad news baby, but I think it’s about time for work.” He finally spoke, looking at the time with a small frown. “Go brush your teeth, and we’ll get a move on, okay?”
A pout curled at your lips as you huffed, standing up from the chair with your arms crossed over your chest. “But I wanna stay here, with you.” You insisted, grumbling as Michael gave your arms a reassuring squeeze.
“I know honey, but we both have some kid responsibilities to get done. But guess what?” Michael said, crouching and looking down at you. His hand wrapped around your fingers, giving it a gentle squeeze.
You tilted your head, looking down at him curiously.
“Once we both get done with all our boring, big kiddo stuff, dada will put on your favorite movie and maybe we can even have some ice cream, hm? How does that sound?” He offered softly, giving you a small smile.
Even though you grumbled, you still nodded in agreement, perking up at the idea of ice cream. “Mkay, dada, I guess.” You mumbled as Michael stood, giving your hair a small ruffle.
“Alright, good job, pumpkin. Now go brush your teeth, alright? No stinky breath here, you silly goose!”

What if I told you I had hcs for an obscure late 80s-90s show about raising the daughter of your love interest with your romantic rival, and childhood best friend, in an unconventional family. What if I told you I'm so unsatisfied with the ending that I'm writing additional seasons to feed myself with content I never got to see. What if

Halloween Ends (2022, dir. David Gordon Green) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
Slight Halloween Kills spoilers lie ahead:
Halloween Ends was, much like the other two entries in this massive misfire of a trilogy, greatly disappointing and underwhelming. I have never, in my life, seen a trilogy of films introduce so many neat, unique, and new ideas into a stagnant franchise just to constantly, without fail, not deliver on any of them. This cool new character is created for the second film, Halloween Kills, and literally retconned into the events of the original movie. Seems pretty important right? They wouldn't just make a character seem that integral and build them up to make a commentary about the nature of fight or flight and how important it is to face your fears only to just unceremoniously do away with them, right? RIGHT?! Wrong, this is the very nature of David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy.
Similarly, a new character has been created for this new installment, as well. The entire opening sequence of the film revolves around this character, and it's interesting. They seemed to be building him up to do something refreshing with him and say something about Michael that, honestly, only Rob Zombie has ever dared to do. I allowed myself to believe that, finally, after three movies, this trilogy would actually try to do something interesting and unique, and yet again I was slapped across the face with the same boring, mundane slaughterfest this franchise has been plagued by since 1981's Halloween II (this, of course, excludes Halloween III: Season of the Witch, which is a massively underrated installment in the franchise that has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers and, really, I'm starting to wish it had gone down the anthology path as originally intended). Green and co-writer Danny McBride never hesitate to fast-pedal their way in the easiest direction, the path of least resistance. Michael shows up, Michael kills everything in sight, Michael moves on, rinse, repeat. It's just. So. Boring.
In all fairness, the cinematography and the acting are quite good (Jamie Lee Curtis never fails to impress), and John Carpenter's scores for all three films are fantastic, as always. Also, the climactic encounter at the film's end is massively entertaining, or at least it seemed that way in comparison to the rest of it. I'm just so tired of seeing this franchise fall prey to the highly unoriginal brutality porn and weak, lazy writing that we've gotten for a solid trilogy now. In response to Rob Zombie's 2007 remake of the original film, John Carpenter mentioned that the reason the remake didn't work (it did) was because Zombie tried to humanize Michael, he tried to give a reason for the madness, for the brutality. He posited that Michael (or "The Shape" as he is commonly referred to in the original film as well as Green's new trilogy) only works as an unstoppable force of nature. That explaining Michael only serves to strip him of the mystique that makes him so interesting. No offense to Mr. Carpenter, he is an incredibly talented director and one of the all-time greats, but that's bullshit. When you don't give Michael a reason for being, if he truly is just unstoppable, this whole operation crumbles under the weight of its own repetitiveness. That idea cannot sustain an entire trilogy, we just witnessed that fact. The idea that Michael is some supernatural force works for a single movie, it can add to the film's commentary about our fears of the unreasonable, the seemingly unreal, but past that it loses its appeal. The mystique dies around the twentieth time we see Michael unceremoniously stab a person that we weren't meant to care about in the first place.
All of that to say, while not nearly as wildly infuriating as Halloween Kills, Ends still manages to miss the mark and throw away the potential of something better, something more meaningful, and something worth watching. Laurie Strode deserves better, Michael Myers deserves better, and it is time for this franchise to, indeed, End.
Score: 4/10
Currently streaming on Peacock.

Random M2D Headcanons:
- Joey abstains from cigarettes, but did smoke quite a lot of pot in his college years. And will indulge occasionally, if completely alone in the loft.
- Joey got along far better with his mother than his father. I picture his mother as something of an artist herself.
- Michael’s father was in his life until right before he left for college. While Michael never came out to him, he somewhat knew Michael was queer, and left because of Evelyn’s refusal to kick him out. Michael carries a lot of guilt because of that. Evelyn feels torn between missing her husband, and realizing he was a bigoted jerk. Regardless, she loves her children deeply and NEVER blamed Michael for his father’s choices.
- Joey was not Michael’s first male crush, but Michael WAS Joey’s.
- Nicole is not any form of queer, but is a fierce ally. But Shelby is absolutely a closeted lesbian.
- Joey could sleep through a hurricane, but Michael wakes up to the slightest creak on the floor.
