We got more My Two Dads Behind-The-Scenes (don't wanna do the acronym, tbh) stories from Staci Keanan! Staci recently appeared on a different podcast and talked about her time on M2D. There were two reels shared on IG.
As for this other reel, the host and Staci talked about how M2D is "the GAYEST show possible" and how it's "ahead of its time."

Ooooooooooooh!!! Very, very nice. ❤️
Random M2D Headcanons:
- Joey abstains from cigarettes, but did smoke quite a lot of pot in his college years. And will indulge occasionally, if completely alone in the loft.
- Joey got along far better with his mother than his father. I picture his mother as something of an artist herself.
- Michael’s father was in his life until right before he left for college. While Michael never came out to him, he somewhat knew Michael was queer, and left because of Evelyn’s refusal to kick him out. Michael carries a lot of guilt because of that. Evelyn feels torn between missing her husband, and realizing he was a bigoted jerk. Regardless, she loves her children deeply and NEVER blamed Michael for his father’s choices.
- Joey was not Michael’s first male crush, but Michael WAS Joey’s.
- Nicole is not any form of queer, but is a fierce ally. But Shelby is absolutely a closeted lesbian.
- Joey could sleep through a hurricane, but Michael wakes up to the slightest creak on the floor.

We got more My Two Dads Behind-The-Scenes (don't wanna do the acronym, tbh) stories from Staci Keanan! Staci recently appeared on a different podcast and talked about her time on M2D. There were two reels shared on IG.
In this one, the host and Staci talked about how she almost got recasted after taping the pilot. The team behind M2D, led by Michael Jacobs, thought Staci was perfect as Nicole, but NBC execs didn't think so because she's too tall for a kid and they wanted someone who is a little younger. But Michael fought hard for Staci and she stayed on the show.
Good, because I really couldn't imagine anyone else besides Staci to portray my beloved SoHo District princess, Nicole Bradford.

Here's another snippet from Staci talking about My Two Dads on the Step By Step Rewatch Podcast, "Keanan and Lakin Give You DeJaVu."
She too was confused on what exactly is the show about: is it about Michael and Joey's challenges as fathers to a growing child or is it about Nicole's life as a young teen as she grows up in an unconventional family set-up with her two fathers? Staci says that Paul thinks it's mainly about the Dads, but we all did see that the focus slightly shifted to Nicole and the rest of the teen cast in the later seasons.
IMO, I think it was about both. However, the show just didn't maintain a good balance in showcasing the Dads being dads and Nicole growing up and navigating life in general... especially in S2 & S3.

Just got done listening to Staci's (Stacy's) Step By Step podcast with her co-star and she shared some anecdote(?) about Nicole's wardrobe on M2D. She admits to being a little critical about Nicole's outfits on the show, saying that "they dressed me/Nicole like a ten year old with a zit(?) [as opposed to being a normal 12 year old pre-teen]"
Staci shared how in real life, she had this goth and edgy phase when it came to fashion and Nicole, in total contrast, has a wardrobe full of color and brightness and too much sweaters. She laughed about how teenage fashion back in the late 80s was all about bright colors and bold patterns and all that. It's just cute how a woman now in her 40s reflects on how she dressed back then as a teenager on and off screen.
Just thought I'd share because it's the first time in a while someone from M2D shared any behind the scene stories. And the fact that it came from Staci makes me miss the show more.

M2D HC(?): I kinda wish we had an episode where Nicole is the sole babysitter to Gracie for a day, like the dads are both out & Nicole's left in charge of the loft & taking care of the baby. Just Nicole being the best big sister (figure) ever to Gracie. I would've loved to have Ben come back & visit too. Make all three of them - Nicole, Ben, & Gracie - a special pseudo-sibling trio, you know?

Ready for another M2D behind the scenes story? Well, here's Staci sharing some interesting stuff from the M2D S2 episode, "God Of Love." on the "Step By Step" rewatch podcast, "Keanan and Lakin Give You De Ja Vu."

So... I was rewatching some of S3 and "Thanks for the Memories" just gave me something to go unnecessarily gaga over... so, I made a video about what I saw:
Oh, well... you be the "Judge." 🤷

I was mindlessly scrolling around Pinterest when I saw these two pictures side by side... It's Emma Samms (left photo), who portrayed Marcy, Nicole's mom — right next to the "family picture" of the M2D cast.
Tumblr media
I immediately let out an "Awww!" upon seeing this, esp. the way it kinda lines up both Emma & Staci Keanan (who plays Nicole) together... My beloved Bradford women. 🥹❤️

My favorite moment in "Bye Bye Baby". The family talks to Michael about his on and off smoking habits... and even Gracie got involved.
I provided some teensy weensy subtitles for Gracie's "commentaries" towards the end, since during the scene, the baby was "adlibbing".

I know Nicole has Shelby, Zach, and Cory (Corey?) as her main friends since S2 (I call them Core Four sometimes) but I wish that Nina & Rebecca from S1 were still part of her main friend circle as well (assuming that they still go to the same school throughout the whole show). I would've liked to see a scene or plot with Nina & Shelby having a competition at first on who's the better best friend to Nicole until they finally learn to get along. The girl talks would've been fun.
