Finally finished my piece for the GO Fairy Tale bang! I had a blast working on this-- I really wanted to do a dragon!Crowley to compliment the Dragon!Aziraphale I did, and since Crowley is a snake I went with a more Asian-style dragon for maximum noodle. The accompanying fic is not up yet but I will post here when it is!

This pretty 1956 Fairy Tale home in Oklahoma City, OK has been removed from the market. Guess it hasn't sold, and it's so unique. 3bds, 4ba, 4,492 sq ft, $802k.

I didn't expect castle-like walls. And, look at that big skylight.

The dining room has a pitched ceiling, wood flooring, and a large brick fireplace.

Look at how large and open the kitchen and family room are.

Interesting- a huge bar next to the kitchen.

The family room is very nice. Lots of natural light.

Nice cabinetry.

The everyday kitchen table is right in front of a cozy fireplace.

The primary bedroom has a pitched ceiling and a sitting area in front of the fireplace.

The bedrooms are large- this one has built-ins and room for a full sofa.

The ensuite has a vanity table and a glass block shower.

This bedroom is also pretty big and has its own ensuite.

Why didn't this house sell? It's lovely. Beautiful pool with a huge patio.

Bonus chapter from SOFT : The Nest

An image from my Murder Drones Sort Of Fairy Tale fanfiction that I'm trying to put as a bonus chapter on AO3. If I can't, here's the description:

Disassembly Drones have many programs that imitate the behavior of certain animals that have disappeared from Earth, mainly to hunt, defend themselves or feed (fauves, birds of prey, bats, etc.)

I decided to incorporate into SOFT an element that I sometimes find in certain fanarts and other Murder Drones stories: the nest.

In short, like a bird, a Disassembly will create a nest to house its mate and their young. An elegantly decorated, comfortable and secure environment, which the Disassembly will watch over very carefully:

So here's the nest N made for Uzi not far from the bunker (mixing his and Uzi's tastes), a scene I plan to write in the future ;)

I don't want to act like a snob, but, y'all... really don't read old fairy tales or mythology, do you...? You only know the sanitized, bloodless Disney versions? People get cut to pieces (Cinderella/Ashputtel, The Red Shoes), women are abducted to be wives (an upsetting practice that continued until very recently, still practiced in some countries today—horrible, but part of life that found its way into stories, like The Seal's Skin), and magical talking animal husbands / wives (The Crane's Return of a Favour; East of the Sun, West of the Moon, etc.) abound in old mythology. Kids have been raised hearing these stories and not thinking about sex for centuries...

Humans marrying Pokemon in the ancient past was frankly stated in the Japanese version of DPPt. The English version rightly assumed English-speaking fans won't take it and reworded it from used to marry to used to eat at the same table (some euphemism!)

The Typhlosion story is no different from western stories like East of the Sun, West of the Moon (the way she was advised not to look at him reminded me of that) or The Seal's Skin (selkies cannot transform and return to the sea without their pelts—the abducted wife leaves her half-human child on land, escaping with her pelt when she finds it... the half-human, half-Pokemon children are bullied by their pelts being thrown on them to transform them against their will for cruel human amusement..)

The bloody myth about the boy with the sword is Veilstone's myth, but told in detail, right down to the Pokemon exacting a toll from him for how he maimed and slew them for amusement.

A man unknowingly marries a transformed-into-human form Froslass he met once before in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and she flees when he finds out what she was... it's based on a tale about the yuki-onna, the folkloric snow woman Froslass is based on.

So, I've been listening to MYTH (side one) pretty religiously since it came out, and I want to know why we as a collective stopped writing fairy tales. I'm not too familiar with English folklore so I don't know if the stories are preexisting English fairy tales (if anyone knows, hey...) but even if they were written solely for the album, a strong argument could be made that they count as folklore. Anyways, should I start writing new fairy tales? I've given several talks on the purposes of folklore so like, I'd roughly know what I'm doing.

Lady Olwen and the Unicorn

Some Deep thoughts I was having while painting this piece below:

Unicorns in medieval art sometimes represented the chastity and purity women were expected to maintain, but also the game of courty love. In order to slay a unicorn, a maiden was to sit out and wait for the creature to find her, then the hunter nearby would strike. Obviously this is just an allegory for sex and the loss of virginity from a deeply patriarchal society. It also illustrated the expectation of women's roles in courtly love in the period.

It reminds me of the purity culture I grew up in, to be honest. I heard stories like this, cautionary tales that growing up and becoming a woman was like the violent killing of a sacred creature. The point of this piece became very therapeutic for me, and served more to heal something that had been hurt a long time ago.

I've also been in love with the Unicorn Tapestries since I was a teenager I wanted to draw a woman surrounded and protected by these motifs. Obviously she's not a virgin, but she is still deemed worthy of a visit from a unicorn.
