-Robotnik and Stone are married, very much married. Cartoon villains in love, I love that for them.

-["MARTHA I'M COMING HOME SWEETIE-"] Mixing up the movie things and the whatever's going on in the Sonic Boom, so Robotnik was gone for eight months and when he's back she's already born.

>Also the drawing is a reference to Icarly's "Whatcha got there?" "A smoothie" but she was clearly asking about the ostrich Spencer brought with him.

>Alternatively, Eggman's there and they go through the journey together yippiee. Choosing names, making evil parenting plans and whatever, being their idiot selves.

-In the one where he comes back and the baby's already there, Eggman does a terrible job as a father the few first months, but then he gets the hang of it and it's not so bad.

-In the one where they wait for her together, he does all the research necessary in all those months, absolutely refusing in doing an average job in that matter, he's the great Ivo Robotnik c'mon. He excels at anything and he'll be a great father (jk he's terrified of fucking up).

-The Stobotnik family is an evil but loving family, like the bears in Puss in Boots whwh criminal family✨

-For the funny of it, Sonic and Eggman got a sort of relationship like in Sonic Boom, so sometime maybe our favorite boy, Tails and Knuckles had to look after their child.

-Also since Knuckles broke Stone's and Robotnik's hands with their handshake, let's have him handle the baby with the most careful grip ever, just to demonstrate that he didn't have to grab their hands that hard aksdjask

-She's a big fan of Sonic and friends (Sonic the Hedgehog, not Sonic Wachowski, the second guy hadn't done even half the things she admires him for, but no one has the heart to tell her when she's a kid). Has a bunch of merch and all the comics of Sonic the Hedgehog.

>When she's a teenager she proudly uses her Sonic backpack in the same way Deadpool uses his Hello Kitty backpack.

-BTW Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are all brothers and Maddie and Tom's kids bc that's the best idea ever made.

-ALSO I'm definitely gonna draw that scene where Knuckles was about to put the baby in the blender and Sonic shouts THE CHILI DOG NOT THE BABY. Some day, you'll see pipipi.

-SAGE was created for various reasons, to be her sister (since she wouldn't stop asking for one but neither Stone nor Robotnik were willing in raising another human kid, thanks very much), to protect her, and also to answer the tedious "why?" questions that neither father had the patience for (A+ parenting right there). Maybe she was used for the original purpose too idk (I don't know that sonic game where she debuts).

>The child's delighted about having a sister, then she grows up and SAGE doesn't, so she has a little sister.

-On her early months she was called Pebble, because she really was a mini Stone, Robotnik went along with it (bc he also looked at her and only saw his husband whw) until she was a little older and they started calling her by her name.

>Alternatively, since Eggman was gone, Stone waited for him to return in hopes of choosing together a name for their child, and Pebble worked as a placeholder since she was just a bebi.

-She's a spoiled kid and also a little menace, unintentionally evil, she can't help it.

>Good-hearted too sometimes, she loves Sage and does her best to protect her back (it's not necessary but it's appreciated anyways).

-Robotnik calls himself 'daddy' way too much in the live-action movies to ignore it, so he's daddy and Stone's dad (dada when she was younger).

>"These are my daddies!" (points to what's clearly two villains -but also good fathers-)

-She has Robotnik's eyes but as big as Stone's. They're the lethal-est sad puppy eyes ever (they work wonders on both parents and other people) (both men got beautiful dark brown eyes with visible eyelashes fight me).

-She's the five-year-old that made Sonic fear them because 'they can be so cruel when they sense weakness' (she was brutally honest as any young kid is).

-Stone and Robotnik got Gomez and Morticia Addams kinda parenting. They see their child beating up someone and they're like:

"What did we do wrong?" (Stone while shaking his head in disappointment) "I know... she lacks resourcefulness." (Eggman) "Exactly, there's her baseball bat right there, why doesn't she use it?"

-Remember that Shadow said in a game that he wouldn't mind taking a candy from a baby? (fandub I think but still) This comes in handy when neither Tails, Sonic or Knuckles want to upset the kid (so Shadow does it instead).

-She plays sports too because she got too much energy. In each of them she loses her patience. She grabs the football and hauls it at the nearest team member, she throws her baseball bat to the ground and starts beating up whoever threw the ball that she missed, she stomps in frustration if she loses, she's great at dodgeball (sends her classmates to the infirmary).

-Throws tantrums and stuff and overall's an annoying kid if she's upset. Eggman's like UGH WHY'S SHE LIKE THIS?? and Stone's like Because of you, doctor (terrible temperament runs in the family and also Robotnik just spoiled her too much).

-I'm kinda dressing her up in the clothes that existed in my mind that supposedly Eggman wore (the weird dress-like jacket with the big zipper in the middle). Under her jacket there's a dress in the same pattern as the original Eggman's clothes, also she wears a baby onesie like that too.

-When she's older she's definitely proud of her fathers, but she doesn't appreciate the rumors that she's prone to go power-crazy like Robotnik did. Especially because it may be true, but what do they know.

-For the irony, she can't stand drinking coffee, but loves the smell of it because it reminds her of home (omg).

-THEY HAVE A PET CAT like I read in some fics and her name is Robot and she's a lil shit and also grumpy like Robotnik.

>Maybe she brings her alive mice to experiment on all sort of stuff (like Pávlov and his dogs and the guy Skinner with his mice and cats (??))

-She gets to hang out with Sonic and friends under the condition of annoying him as much as possible. So, she complies. (She loves Sonic the Hedgehog, but she loves making her fathers happy more).

-Very smart kid but not to the level of Tails or Robotnik at that age, she's just got very good memory and learning skills and knows a lot of stuff ever since she was a little kid. More like a Matilda-kinda intelligence.

-She's a scientist when she grows up too but the kind that makes evil potions and serums and stuff aksjdk probably (chemistry things? biochem idk). She can make silly little robots for the fun of it but it's not her passion, unlike Robotnik and Stone's. PROBABLY. I'm still deciding.

-BTW LOOK (it says 'carefully crafted ploy to distract space porcupines')

Alrighty! @number-one-shadisper-shipper and I binged the Knuckles series today, so time for thoughts! SPOILER ALERT.

I'll admit the show wasn't perfect. I've seen the negative reviews, and I kinda get where they come from. BUT! I did enjoy this show greatly! And I'm not here to complain. Time for some happy thoughts, y'all! 💙🤩

I think you need to have a love, not just tolerance, for the SCU in order to properly enjoy this show. I do have such, so I had a lot of fun with it.

There were definitely scenes from every episode that had me either squealing, laughing, crying, or flipping out. But my favorite was likely the first episode, because come on, we saw the Wachowski family! Most of them, anyway! While I missed Tom's presence, I was grateful for that comment from Maddie about him being "out of town," so he wasn't just gone for no reason.

The SECOND it showed our three space babies hanging out together in their room?! I SCREAMED. THE BOYS!!!!

Tails sitting on his bed tinkering with one of his gizmos, Sonic rocking out to music with an air guitar, and Knuckles exercising from one of the ceiling planks. IT'S THEM!!! They're just hanging out, doing their thing, looking oh so much like brothers. And Sonic's narration at the beginning was GOLD. 🤣💙

Even though we didn't get enough of Maddie being a parent, we definitely got a nice chunk for it only lasting part of an episode. Maddie called Knuckles "one of our kids" (that had me SCREECHING). The angry mama vibes were GOLDEN. 🤣 The way she made breakfast for them, the "Boys, breakfast is ready!" I love the normalcy of it! Can't wait to see more in the future! (Her calling to them with "boys" is somehow just the sweetest thing and I'm melting.)

The poor mailman being like "I just wanna go home, man" 🤣

We were right, fellas, Knuckles had no idea what being grounded meant. 🤣 Although the way Sonic piped up with "Oh, I definitely know what it means," has me suspecting that Sonic himself has gotten grounded a decent amount before. 😂

Knuckles trying to talk back, and Maddie going, "ExCUSE ME?!" then just making those tiny, terrifying noises and Sonic being like "Bro don't mess with Mom when she's mad" (okay, he didn't say "mom" and that made me sad, but the mom vibes were 110% there so I'm here for it). 😂 And since Knuckles snuck out and later Wade said, several times, "Aren't you grounded?" seems to confirm that this entire show is basically what Knuckles does when he's grounded. 🤣 Although ... his comment about not being able to be grounded because he had no home made me very sad. 😭

I did not have an issue with so much Wade screentime! Sure, he isn't my favorite SCU character, but I love what this show did with him! I'd already seen his moments in the movies (like nearly shooting Robotnik in the face with an actual handgun). I like how they gave him actual family issues; a dad who abandoned him and his family, a realistic sister, a mom. Bad family memories. Awkward reunions. They could've made it a joke, but they didn't, and I greatly appreciate that. Especially since I've witnessed firsthand how painful family separations can be. 😔

All the emotional talks Wade and Knuckles had caught me off guard in the best way! The way they talked about their different family issues, the way they talked of betrayal from friends, and being left alone, hit way harder than I was prepared for. Especially that talk they had at the burger place in the middle of the night? Oof. Good talk right there.

Also, even though they took a "show don't tell" take with it, I loved how Knuckles relaxed more and more throughout the show. In the beginning, he couldn't rest, he couldn't sit back and have a genuine good time. But the more he hung out with Wade and his family, the more he learned. He learned about music and found "his jam" (that was literally amazing btw). He watched movies with Mrs. Whipple and ate snacks in the hotel room in Reno and watched more movies. He had his teenager moments of rolling his eyes and rebelling, but he was so well portrayed here, I loved it. I felt for him.

Despite the bizarre nature of the episode "Flames of Disaster," (we were cracking up so hard) I'm trying to glean bits of the truth of Knuckles's story from the crazy musical play that Pachacamac put on in Wade's dream. I mean, "Longclaw" and her tribe were there, and ... what the heck was that giant demon thing?! Iblis?! Does our Knuckles Wachowski have an actual history with freaking Iblis?!?! 😱🔥

I was deeply intrigued by the two main antagonists, especially at the implication that G.U.N. did seem to exist before the events of the first movie?! Did it exist, get disbanded after the Maria incident, then get reformed?! My brain is exploding. 🤯 I was even more shocked that they apparently died? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, the Wachowski kids don't seem to have much qualms about getting rid of the baddies for good as the game versions do. That was a terrifying phenomenon, what happened with the two rings. 🫣

And then the Buyer getting crushed by the giant glass ball 👀

Although in those last two episodes, I admit I was freaking out and legitimately near tears at Wade's seemingly having to "betray" Knuckles. Before the reveal that all was in good communication, all I could think was how relaxed Knuckles finally seemed, chilling in the hotel room, being excited about whatever Wade wanted to "show" him, questioning whether it was a song, him declaring that he was going to bring his favorite hat, 🥹 all I could think was of their previous discussions about betrayal from friends and family, and when Knuckles called Wade "my friend" right before the elevator doors closed, I just about sobbed. I was like "please, don't let him be betrayed, don't let him have come all this way and relaxed so much only to get 'betrayed' once again by someone he's come to consider a friend." 😭 We heaved a HUGE sigh of relief when it revealed he was aware of the trap the whole time. 😪

Maternal instincts went nuts when he got so badly hurt in that final battle 😭 I literally reached for the screen several times and was right back to almost weeping 🥲 And someone tell me I wasn't the only one noticing the parallel in that scene with Wade standing in front of his unconscious body the way Tom did with Sonic in the first movie. That, PLUS Knuckles's epic comeback, and his retrieval of his own power?!?! EPIC!!!!

The ending was abrupt, sure, but the pure joy on Knuckles's face after everything as he jumped up to high five Wade was just too sweet. 🥹

So yes, even though I would have loved just a little more, a return to Green Hills, a reunion with Maddie, Sonic, and Tails, I adored this show. It was a wild ride, full of laughs, tears, excited screeching, etc. 💙💛❤️ I don't care what anyone says, nothing will make me hate it.

Have this small idea that came to me.

Sonic.exe world, with Knuckles(like maybe his soul version or before he gets killed) x reader (who can somewhat be like Sonic.exe? But more ,,, normal? Like. A kind & nice exe who saved him from being killed by Sonic.exe)

But with that, they kinda take his form? But their form looks more cartoony & classic-style. Kinda like a simpler and small form, easy to pick up Knuckles (maybe other survivors?) and run just as fast to a safe place. (kinda inspired by my own sonic.exe OC tbh,, but yeah). (You don't have to, tho! Just thought that this was interesting—!)

Mimicking Friend — Knuckles The Echidna

Sypnosis || If anyone told him beforehand he’d get saved by the one lesser of two evils, he would’ve laughed. Now he’s believing it himself.

He was confused as hell when it all began, the ebony grays and the scarlet red skies. It was all so menacing, but not truly to someone like Knuckles, he wasn’t very put off by any bit of the blood either. Only then he got concerned when he started to learn about Sonic, someone who he recently met. The echidna certainly didn’t expect the blue blur to actually kill his two-tailed fox friend, he thought they were as close as brothers can be. 

Knuckles felt fortunate when he managed to fight off the demon, the bloody hedgehog was a killer but he sure as hell was no fighter. Even then, he knows the killer can and will adapt overtime, especially with all the strange manipulation of reality he can do. When he was sure the damn demon was down for good, he ran as fast as he could. Knuckles certainly wasn’t about to stick around for that possessed hedgehog to actually succeed in killing the echidna, he couldn’t leave the Master Emerald without the guardian. 

When you finally made the decision to make an appearance before Knuckles, he was rather confused. You looked so similar to him, only tinier in size. Yet it was even more surprising when you possessed more strength he realized, carried as if he was a bride just married you ran even further then he possibly could (More so floated, but who cares?). You felt as if you had to keep Knuckles safe and hidden away from the demon, accursed and trickster with a knack for obsessing over things unnecessarily. 

“Who the hell are you?” He finally asked after you had whisked away the two of you to somewhere far and safe away from the bloody hedgehog, Knuckles felt as if he was close to snapping within his emotions. He was confused, mixed up about every recent event which had occurred in mere minutes away from each other. 

Why’d you save him?

Why do you look just like him? 

Many thoughts and questions had run through the echidna’s head, but the one he had uttered was something he found most important. 

You looked down, shifting closer to the ground so you could lay yourself for rest. “Someone who just wanted you to stay alive,” You began, feeling the words finicky to find. “Cause they know what it’s like to fail to do so.” Those words felt wrong, yet so right. You wince internally as you search his face for any hint of a reaction to your words. Knuckles sighed, complacency wasn’t his greatest idea of a deal begotten between him and a stranger who just saved his life.

“I owe you.” He spoke, finally decided to break the awkward silence. Knuckles took a moment of pause, closing his eyes as he crossed his arms. “Thank you, I suppose.”

You interject, “You owe me nothing, but I do owe you something.”

At this, he raises a brow. Eyes opening to reveal magnificent purple hues expressing interest in your next set of words, “You need answers yes? I can provide them.” Knuckles was albeit, relieved he could get them from someone friendlier than most entities right now. He wasn’t in a very grateful mood if he were to search for them himself. 

“Alright then..” The echidna begins, taking a walk towards the distance. 

He then gestures vaguely as he asks, “Who the hell was possessing Sonic?”

“Dad says just let him get it out of his system.” Tails says then giggles, Sonic snorts.

“Okay, okay, fine. You two are forgiven.”

“Two? What did I do?”

“Tails, obviously you committed an atricous crime which his highness was generous enough to forgive you.” Knuckles says and laughs, then Sonic gestures to him.

“You gave him ideas!”

“In my defence it was Dad who gave me the exact idea first!”

“I do.” Sonic mutters, his voice barely audible.

“What? I couldn’t hear you, hedgehog.”

“Don’t push your luck, echidna.”

“Very well. This calls for a special occasion.” Knuckles says, catching Tails’ gaze, who nods, a huge grin on his face. Sonic looks at Knuckles, then Tails, and frowns.

“Don’t you dare-“

Before he can complete his sentence, he is flung right into a tickle attack

Visions Of What We Could Be

“Maybe this will teach you to think deeper before weeping, hedgehog.”

Knuckles teases, Sonic groans, this is why they can never have heartfelt moments. Sonic elbows his side, effectively breaking out of their embrace Knuckles has the nerve to fake being hurt, and Sonic frowns.

“Don’t you think that I missed you calling me shallow, Knucklehead! And quit the act, I know it didn’t hurt. Sadly!”

“You want to wound me? I change my mind, I’d gladly replace you with this Nick.” Knuckles teases further, and Sonic gasps and places a hand over his mouth, mostly for theatrics and to hide the grin he can’t supress.

“You hurt me, brother. Just when I was about to say I’d never want Andy instead.” He says, making his lower lip quiver for extra effect. Knuckles looks at him sideways, and snorts.

Black Arms Sonic AU [Info Post]

Okay, the story is in it's rough stages but here's what I got so far:

Black Doom discuises himself as a Mobian (Doleon) and ends up finding Sonic, who had recently met Tails after the bullies. But before Tails could follow him Sonic suddenly vanishes without a trace.

Doleon had taken an interest in the blue hedgehog, seeing that his power was similar to Project Shadow. And knowing that Gerald was conspiring against him, he needed to find a way to prevent the Black Comet from being destroyed, along with a way to match Shadow in sheer power.

And the blue hedgehog felt like the perfect key to his idea.

So he manages to get ahold of Sonic without anyone noticing, bringing him to the Black Comet. And unfortunately the paralysis gas keeps Sonic docile and unable to escape.

With his limited knowledge in human technology, Doom attempts to experiment on Sonic and try to use his own DNA on the kid. He kept trying to monitor his vitals so he wouldn't die on him and made sure he couldn't escape by scarring his legs.

Eventually, Doom made a breakthrough by establishing the hivemind's connection to him, and it was all up to some careful manipulation and gaslighting to bring Sonic to their side.

More DNA is brought in, and Sonic's coat darkens as red pigment fades in, the DNA molding itself in the form of claws and spikes at his quills, arms, hands, and feet. The information from the hivemind also let Doom scew Sonic's old memories back on Earth to make him forget who he's supposed to be.

And once the finalization is complete and he proves stable... Doom brings Sonic out and begins to train him in the way of the black arms. Sonic was molded into a super weapon for the alien race, rivaling the king's own son in sheer power.

It wasn't until the final test that proved just how capable he was.

The Black Arms initiated their invasion the moment Doom sensed Shadow being reawakened from stasis. He brought Sonic back to Earth and told him everything he needed to know about Shadow and how to bring him to his side.

Shadow's first encounter with Sonic... Was a reverse situation from the original SA2 encounter. Shadow himself was startled by Sonic, who seemed to find joy in taunting and playing with the ebony hedgehog and his broken memories. However, Shadow resisted and fled the scene before the cops caught up with him.

Shadow then met Amy, Tails, and Knuckles who were trying to both stop the Black Arms invasion and figure out what was going on (Knuckles was after the shard pieces, along with Rouge). Amy was very quick to remind Shadow of his actual memories and he decided to align himself with their cause, bringing Rouge and Eggman to their side as the new team teamed up to stop the Black Arms.

The rest is... Similar to Shadow 05 in how everything goes down. Once the black comet was destroyed, only Sonic and Eclipse survived the disaster, hiding out on Earth ever since.

The two "brothers" eventually drifted apart and went their seperate ways, plotting their own form of revenge.

Extra details of the AU I wanted to fit in but didn't know how:

Amy and Tails are actually the sibling duo. Tails ended up finding Amy in danger and rescued her, still inspired by Sonic and his bravery. At this point he had no idea where the blue hedgehog had gone but hoped to find him again eventually (He never did)

Sonic CD, 2, 3, and Adventure did not happen. At least... Not normally. Tails became the main character after Sonic's departure land he brought along Amy from 3 and over. Knuckles wasn't met until Adventure when Eggman unleashed Chaos.

Sonic does not know Tails. His memory of the fox he saved is completely wiped.

Sonic does not consider Eclipse his brother. At all. Eclipse doesn't think the same thing about him.

Sonic's name was actually kept the same, however he ocassionally goes by "Aeron" which sound's similar to "Doleon" in a way

Shadow and Sonic are very intense rivals/enemies. Sonic is known to be incredibly relentless, even willing to team up with Eggman to make Shadow's life a living nightmare.

Sonic doesn't have any recollection of his old life, only general but vague knowledge. His personality is somewhat intact, though.

Sonic actually has a lot of powers to his new self. As seen here.

I have another AU idea that i want to bring to life someday, its not as fleshed out as Stories Untold but its already following a story so it doesn't really need a plot except for a few changes.

Whats your guys thoughts on a Brother Bear AU? focusing on Sonic and Tails, a little bit of knuckles. Characters aside from Sonic and Tails are still to be decided.

So if any of your bones creak like mine, Brother Bear is an old disney movie with beautiful native and inuit representation. Back when disney wasnt just trying to find a pretty buck and actually made their movies visually appealing along with a detailed story.

It follows 3 brothers, the oldest dies from a bear attack unintentionally caused by the youngest going after it to recitify a mistake. The youngest being Kenai or Sonic in this AU.

Kenai or Sonic, decides to seek avenge his brothers death by killing the beast. This is the beginning of where i change things around, i want to be as close to the source material as possible but my changes wont fit realistically so your gonna have a dire wolf sized fox. The movie is based on inuit culture and i cant use inuit representation 100% so this is a FICTIONAL native AU. Not based on any real cultures, inspired but not based.

That being said, Sonic goes to hunt this dire fox much to the dismay of the 2nd brother. I cant decide whos who aside from sonic.

Sonic kills this fox after an aggressive battle and the spirits, gaia, punish him for taking an unnecessary life by turning him into a mobian.

Forgot to mention 😅 sonic and his "brothers" are human and there are normal animals, but the beasts are mobians. Catch my drift on this? Okay.

Okay so Sonic kills the fox and is turned into a what? Hedgehog mobian! Because at the beginning, when a tribe member comes of age, they receive a totem of who they represent. Sonics was a cute little Hedgehog, the Hedgehog of love.

The 2nd brother comes last minute to see a changed Sonic and the aftermath of a fight. Thinking the random blue hedgehog killed Sonic, now thinking he lost 2 brothers he goes to attack. Sonic narrowly escapes and is separated for now.

Ive explained enough of the movie at this point, but Sonic comes across Tails who is a lone mobian. Born amd raised. Tails is Koda, the little bear Kenai meets.

Sonic at first is not liking the company of Tails, but while they travel across the land, they start to bond and Sonic begins to feel attached to the kid. His moralites and perspectives beging to change

Tails is a little shit in this btw, exactly like Koda. Does not shut up and is glued to Sonic in an endearing sort of way.

They become like brothers until it gets to the point of the movie where Tails is talking about why hes alone and his separation from his mom. Sonic breaks his own heart telling Tails that before changing, before the knowledge he has now about the mobians, he killed Tails mother to avenge his brother.

Honey there is so much unbreakable bond material with this movie, i even made an AI voice generated clip of Tails singing "im on my way" by phil collins.

Its getting pen to paper is where im stuck, im still working out how to present my idea visually. Id honestly adore seeing ideas from you guys.

Knuckles i cant decide if he should be the Shaman or the oldest brother. Kinda want Shadow to be the 2nd brother.

Ooooh! That one's been a while, but I always love doing my ask games! And I have lots of headcanons for both!

Shadow as a dad

Did not know he could feel this many emotions until he had kids

Is determined to be a better dad than Gerald and Black Doom were (literally such a low bar like he hasn't tried to manipulate his kids into destroying the world so congrats you succeeded)

Okay we all know if he has a little girl he's naming her Maria

Loves his kids. Also has no idea what to do with kids ("What do you mean kids need food and sleep and encouragement I don't need that stuff! What do you mean that's not normal is that why I feel miserable all the time...?")

Is that "you got hurt? walk it off" kind of dad (does care if they get actually hurt but has a hard time with emotions)

Teaches his kid(s) how to fight and use guns from the time they're very small. They and Knuckles's kids are about equal in being super well-trained warrior children and it's totally not a competition at all

Stops referring to himself as "The Ultimate Lifeform" because he doesn't want to kids to feel like they're anything less than he is.(He does call himself the Ultimate Dad now though)

Doesn't let Aunt Rouge and Uncle Omega babysit anymore cuz every time he does his kids come back wanting to commit thievery and violence

Does a lot of things with his kids that he consciously or unconsciously remembers doing with Maria (reading books, playing dress-up, stargazing)

Is super tough until his kids pull out the puppy dog eyes and then he will do anything they want

Has pretty high expectations for his kids (they're the kids of the Ultimate Lifeform, after all) but is careful not to push them too hard or make them think he's disappointed if they don't do perfectly

Does so many dad jokes, but does them in a super monotone voice so no one knows if he's doing them on purpose or not

Sonic as a dad

Sonic is absolutely great with kids! It's not too hard for him to jump from big brother figure to dad

Has a lot of knowledge of kids from raising Tails. He's great at dealing with meltdowns and stuff, he's had a lot of practice!

Never stops going on adventures but is a little more reigned in. Goes instead to more places he can travel to and back in a day (basically anywhere still lol) or takes his family with him

Fosters a strong interest in travel and learning about other cultures

Teaches by example. His kid(s) are brave and heroic and curious, etc, not because Daddy told them to be but because they see Daddy acting that way

Tends to spoil his kid(s) just a little bit (he has a hard time saying no to them)

Oh wow taking care of kids is actually really tiring? Somehow his kids have even more energy that he does? He didn't know that was possible????

Is super supportive of everything his kids do

Tends to be the "reckless" parent. "Yeah sure we can go cliff jumping later sounds like a perfectly safe activity for a five-year-old" (to be fair he's been doing stupid stuff since he was five and he's gotten this far right? Also he makes sure to be right there to save them if anything goes wrong)

Takes naps with his kids in really weird places (in trees, on the roof, on the floor, etc)

okay so I watched the knuckles series (by following the example of the pirates of course ) and I have to say while it was a very enjoyable watch, I have no clue what I watched and I’m mostly confused and have come away feeling mostly neutral. I don’t hate it, but it hasn’t dug its hooks in like other sonic things have for me.

Like some bits I very much enjoyed watching and would happily see again and others I couldn’t stand and dread the idea of watching again.

there were plenty of moments where Knuckles went against what I adore about him, and others that perfectly capture what I adore about him. Boy was so adorable though. Loved lots of the expressions he made.

okay I’m gonna get a bit more specific from here and cuz I got no clue what’s going on with the tagging and it gets long I’ll put it under a cut.

So it’s kinda hard for me to remember what happened, but I will say I love wades mother, she was amazing, loved her and Knuckles’ dynamic and would welcome it if she appeared again. (Also, new headcanon unlocked that knuckles is such a mamas boy he’s a magnet for motherly figures)

I really am not a fan of his sister Wanda tho. The childish sibling banter did entertain me at first (and made me think that knuckles was going to reflect on his relationship with his brothers) but it went on too long and just made Wanda feel like she never matured past being a bratty teenager. (And judging by what I’ve seen I think she’s gonna be on ‘top _ worst sonic characters’ lists for a while)

my opinion on Wade himself hasn’t really changed. I have no strong feelings towards the guy

We didn’t get as much as I wanted, but I loved the Wachowski family stuff. I needed so much more of knuckles being the trouble kid and the family trying to help.

It’s pretty annoying that the start of the show set up Knuckles learning to chill, be a kid on earth and settle in with his new family. Only to drop it basically immediately and the closest thing it has to a resolution is Knuckles finding his jam.

and yeah, I could see plenty of moments where they had the perfect opportunity to explore knuckles on a deeper level but chose not to. But I am glad they at least hinted at it with those expressions I keep raving about

On that. Cuz Pachacamacs appearance was what springboreded what was going on in a different direction. What is going on here? Is this a Knuckles thing? But Wade speaks to him to, but that was under knuckles’ guidance? I think? So can anyone in this world talk to spirits? Can only certain people be spirits? I mean. One Knuckles got over the initial shock he accepted the fact he was talking to a dead tribe member (I’m also sad that nothing was done with the idea that in this universe Knuckles and Pachacamac were alive at the same time) I got so many more questions on how spirits work in here, but I’m just gonna move on. (Although, maybe this sets up knuckles speaking to Tikal 👀. Or maybe his dad or even his mum.)

But considering what Pachacamac’s role is in the games making him so comedicly focused felt weird. Yeah this universe has different events. But still feels weird cuz of how we know Pachacamac.

I don’t even know what to say about the whole fire powers fire demon (who’s heavily implied to be iblis) I need way more time to think what is going on. Like does any of the pre existing lore apply? If so those are some WILD implications. If not, did that mean they just made this guy like iblis cuz it’s a fire creature that fans will recognize??

A minor thing but I can’t hear our house without thinking of the chemist warehouse add. And a few of the other songs are strongly associated with other things and I couldn’t help but think of them when they played. I don’t see this as a good or bad thing. It is just a thing.

hmm. I had more thoughts but after that ghost tangent I can’t really remember them. I guess I’ll have to come back later with another post if I get them back.

So, for now my closing thoughts are: it’s not a terrible show. Lots of writing choices I disagree with, but I don’t nessicaily think they’re bad. And there’s definitely enjoyment to be found (more if you watch it with some friends) but it’s not really to my taste. Especially with how much irs advertise as about knuckles and then not. Some moments made me very happy some made me want to nope out some I don’t even know.

Tails hissed as he wrapped another bandage around his arm, having nicked himself with a tool for the umpteenth time in the past few hours.

He cursed himself for it, it shouldn’t have happened. It’s one stupid mistake after the other, he should be better than that. He should be smarter than that, more coordinated than that.

But he’s not. And now everyone knows that, because he failed.

He failed, and Eggman took over the world.

He failed, and Sonic’s gone.

Part of him believes he deserves the new wounds. He thinks part of him has been purposefully making him “slip up” so he doesn’t have to get the ‘you shouldn’t do this to yourself’ speech from Amy.

Tails looks down at himself, eyeing the different patches and bandages decorating his body, covering a good portion of his golden fur. His gloves lay forgotten on a different table, blood having soaked through the tips of them.

That part of him gets louder.

He lets it. He doesn’t see any reason to shush it, it’s right.

He deserves this.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to be up this late.” Not expecting another person to even be awake at 4 in the morning, the fox flinched at the new voice and whipped his head around.

A gray hedgehog was now standing in the room, shutting the door softly. He looked at the younger with sad eyes.

“Silver? What–” Tails shook his head, setting the drill in his hand down on the table. It had been the first thing he grabbed when he realized he was no longer alone, intending to use it for protection, “what are you doing?”

“I heard noises in here, so I wanted to check it out.” Silver shrugged, leaning slightly to look at the mess on the workbench. “What are you doing up right now?”

“Working.” Tails rubbed his eyes as if it would be able to get rid of his eyebags.

“I see that,” The hedgehog walked forward, still studying the objects on the table, “but why aren’t you sleeping.”

“..Couldn’t.” The younger grumbled, leaning back in his chair. Nightmares of what happened to Sonic plagued his mind, not allowing him to rest. Not that he deserved it, he was at fault for what happened to the blue hero after all.

Silver’s eyes left the workbench, instead trailing over the medical wraps sprinkled across the kit’s body. “What happened to you?”

Tails followed his line of sight, arms and tails wrapping around in a sudden surge of embarrassment. “Nothing, just a few slip ups.”

“That’s a little more than just a few, Tails.” Silver shook his head, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, Silver.” Tails rolled his eyes, turning back to the device on the table, “Go back to bed, or whatever.”

“Not unless you do too.” The kit’s brow furrowed at the words, causing him to turn around to look at the hedgehog.

“What?” Silver sighed, gesturing towards the younger.

“Tails, Knuckles said you just turned seven, and look at you! You’re nearly covered head to toe in bandages, and it’s four! You need to rest.” He pointed out, stepping forward to place a hand on the fox’s shoulder.

“I already told you, I can’t sleep.” Tails shrugged the hand off, looking towards the ground.

“Well, why not?” The question was innocent enough, and Tails knew that, but he still froze up when he heard.

He can’t just outright say he’s having nightmares about Sonic’s death capture. That’s childish, and he can’t afford to be childish anymore. Being childish is why Sonic’s gone.

Besides, children don’t mass produce weapons for war. Tails does, so he can’t be a child. 

“Don’t worry about it.” The fox shook his head, picking up the drill again in hopes to seem like he intends to keep working then and there. Well, he does, but he doesn’t need the drill anymore. He just wanted to look busy.

“Do you feel lonely?” Silver asks, head tilting to the side in a bid to try and piece together the reasoning for the fox’s reluctance, “You’re free to sleep in my room if so.”

“Seriously, it’s not a big deal.” Tails rolled his eyes. Why was everyone so persistent when it came to him not sleeping on time or not eating enough? He’s fine. It’s how he lived on Westside and look at him now. He’s still alive, isn’t he?

“Well then, uhmm,” Silver trailed off, clearly thinking up a new way to convince the seven year old fox pup to sleep, “I…. won't sleep until you do. So there, now you have to go to bed.”

Looking over his shoulder, Tails threw the hedgehog an unimpressed frown. He’s lost count of the amount of times Sonic’s done this tactic. “Uh-huh. And you’ll fall asleep in three minutes, just like Sonic does.”

“Nope!” Silver gave him a smile, “I’ve pulled plenty of all nighters. You’ve met your match, Tails! Bedtime.”

“If you want me to go to bed so badly, drag me there.” The fox grumbled, not fully processing the words that just left his mouth.”

“Okay.” Simple enough response, but it made Tails finally register his own words. He turned around with his hand up to the gray hedgehog.

“Wait–” He tried, but it was too late. He was surrounded by the familiar cyan glow of Silver’s telekinesis and being carried out of the makeshift workshop.

“Silver, stop–” He tried to fight against the power glowing around him despite knowing it was no use.

“What? You said I could drag you.” Silver responded as he opened the door to the fox’s room.

“I didn’t actually mean it!” Tails argued as he was dropped on the bed.

“Well, too bad. You need to sleep.” The hedgehog closed the door, his hands resting on his hips with a wide smile, “And I’ll keep you company to ward off the bad dreams!”

“Nonono, there’s no bad dreams. You can go to your own room.” The younger shook his head, sitting on the edge of his bed.

“Knuckles and Amy already told me, you don’t need to lie.” Silver said as he walked over to the fox, “I’d be staying anyways. Can’t have you sneaking out again.”

“What?” Tails’ brow furrowed, “Wait, if you knew, why didn’t you just say that?”

“Wanted to see if you’d tell me.” The teen shrugged, lightly pushing the kit down by his shoulders, “Now go to sleep.”

“Silver–” Tails tried, but the hedgehog just covered his mouth.

“Nope. Bedtime.” Rolling his eyes, the fox pulled the hand away.

“Even if I wanted to, I. Can’t. Sleep.” Tails sighed, letting go of the older’s hand. “Besides, there’s not a whole lot you can even do about the nightmares so don’t bother. Just go to bed.”

“Knuckles said being with someone helps you.” Silver said, now sitting on the bed.

“Of course he did.” The kit groaned, rolling away from the hedgehog. Silver looked between the fox and the door a few times before speaking.

“You’re not being left alone, so would you rather I get Knuckles or Amy to come here?” He offered, placing his elbow on his knee so his head could rest in his palm.

Tails stayed silent for a few minutes before letting out a heavy sigh, shaking his head. “Don’t wake them up.”

“So you’re okay with me staying?” Silver’s ears perked up, a small smile on his face despite the fact the younger wouldn’t look at him.

“What–ever.” He grumbled, yawning mid-sentence. The hedgehog clicked his tongue, using his telekinesis to turn off the light as he laid next to the fox.

They stayed in silence for a few minutes until Silver sat up enough to place his hand on Tails’ head, petting it a few times.

“It’s okay, y’know. To be a kid. Being a kid is fun!” He looked up at the window above the younger’s bed, stars still visible as Eggman’s wrath hadn't made it to the zone they resided in just yet.

Tails didn’t respond, but he did roll around and push his face into Silver’s chest, his namesakes covering the both of them. The teen didn’t comment on the wetness or the trembling he felt from the younger, he simply just held the kid.

Silver smiled down at him before pulling the blanket over them, cradling the younger's head as he silently cried into the hedgehog’s chest until he fell asleep.

And for once, a nightmare didn’t follow when he closed his eyes.

A SatBK Sonic and Gawain talking and hanging out oneshot!

Summary: Sonic and Gawain take a little break in researching how to get Sonic home to have a little adventure: seeing what new trouble Lancelot has gotten into. Along the way, they have a little chat on Merlin and destiny, and Sonic learns that Gawain and Lancelot are fully aware of their impending 'rift.'

Contains: Gawain and Lancelot are besties! Gawain talks about destiny and fate a lot and is super unimpressed with the idea he and Lancelot are gonna be mortal enemies and Lancelot is supposed to kill him! Gawain is super pushy, literally and figuratively- big brother syndrome lmao! Shadow is up to weird inscrutable antics as usual! Gawain isn’t very fond of Merlin and isn’t very nice about his descriptions of him!

Sonic has never been fond of paperwork or research. He’s very much a hedgehog of action, tearing through obstacles at mach speed and figuring everything out as he goes along. And when he literally and figuratively comes up against a challenge he can’t power through, he calls up Tails. His little buddy loves research, is good at thinking through problems, and able to adapt and tinker his solutions to any and every situation. It’s what makes them such a good team. Unfortunately, Tails wasn’t invited to this little trip to Camelot. Sonic’s been handling everything pretty well so far, but figuring out the right magic and locations for his return trip is turning out to be a little tricky. And, as he looks at the piles of scrolls, papers, and books on the round table, Sonic desperately wishes once again that Tails were here to help him. (Smithy is a skilled craftsman and smart in his own right, but apparently being a blacksmith doesn’t require reading! How is it possible there’s a guy that looks so much like Tails but is illiterate?! If he’s going to be here for much longer, then Sonic’s gonna put teaching Smithy to read on his to-do list.) At least he’s not forced to wade through all these papers alone. Sonic glances over to his left where Sir Gawain is quietly reading. It’s weird. Gawain isn’t Knuckles, but echidnas aren’t exactly common, so it’s incredibly eerie to see someone with that knucklehead’s same face and explosive temper just sit and think and research- “It is time for a break!” Gawain’s booming voice shatters the quiet of the room and breaks Sonic out of his idle thoughts. “Huh?” He blinks, startled, as the echidna snaps the book shut. Gawain doesn’t push the chair back so much as he pushes the entire table forward, standing up and stretching his arms above his head. He looks at Sonic expectantly as he exercises his shoulder, “Come.”

“Okay,” Sonic doesn’t know what Gawain is planning, but      anything    beats pouring over these boring old papers, “Where are we going?”

“On a quest!” As soon as he’s in Gawain’s radius, the echidna grabs Sonic to push him ahead. Gawain keeps one hand firmly on the hedgehog’s back, obviously very comfortable around pointy quills.

“Quest?” Sonic shrugs as he lets Gawain lead him through the corridor, not used to being the one encouraged to go faster. He has to glance backwards to make eye contact with the echidna, “Quest for what?” “Lancelot!” Gawain tells him cheerfully, “That daft man has a terrible habit of getting into the worst kind of trouble when left to his own devices. Let us make sure he is not in need of succor.” “Heh,” Sonic laughs at hearing Lancelot described like that. The dour hedgehog would undoubtedly disagree with Gawain’s assessment, and would very much resent anyone thinking he needed to be rescued. But much like Shadow, Lancelot seems to be a magnet for trouble, too.

“Sounds like you two get along well,” Sonic remarks absently as they pass through a partially re-constructed corridor.

“Indeed!” Gawain answers proudly without any bit of hesitation, thumping his fist on his chest, “Sir Lancelot is my dearest friend and closest companion!”

“…Huh, that’s cool,” Sonic says after a moment, a little surprised by how quickly and emphatically Gawain answered that question as he pulls a heavy wooden door open.

“Does that surprise you?” Gawain asks mildly, innocent enough but with an undertone of emotion Sonic can’t quite place. Definitely not positive though, “Have you heard differently?”

“Nothing, really, it’s just-“ Sonic makes a seesaw motion as they pass a grand collection of woven tapestries that seem to have survived the wreckage. Dusty and mostly still on the floor, but Sonic’s eyes linger on a tapestry of an old man with a disturbingly familiar looking mustache, “Merlina made it seem like you two weren’t super close. More rivalry than friendly to your whole friendly rivalry.”

“Bah, poppycock!” Gawain scoffs, obviously relieved as he shakes his head dismissively, “That’s simply because her grandfather filled her head with all those nonsense prophecies! Those silly tales of how our bitter feud would result in the end of the dream of Camelot!”

“Ah,” Sonic answers ambivalently, surprised at the blasé dismissal. He didn’t believe in things like prophecy and fate, but it seemed someone like Gawain, who seemed incredibly committed to intangible things like chivalry and duty, would care more. Especially if they were supposed to destroy a whole entire kingdom over a spat, “So you heard everything Merlina said when she was under the influence of the scabbard?”

“Sir Sonic, that was not new information for either myself or Lancelot!” Gawain seems genuinely amused by his attempt at gentleness, laughter booming in the stone hall. That it was broken didn’t seem to impact the acoustics too much.

“For as long as we have known them, the girl and her grandfather have never let us forget!!” The echidna sighs heavily, mouth twisting into a grimace like he just sucked on a lemon, “That mad codger ranted about destiny all the time, and what role everyone would play in the downfall of Camelot. Whether you wanted to listen to him or not!”

Gawain obviously finds this topic frustrating, ripping the stairwell door off of its hinges as his voice rises in his growing agitation, “The moment he saw me or Lancelot, he would immediately remind us of our destined ‘rift.’’”

The knight doesn’t even try to fix the door, just leaves it off to the side as he ushers Sonic through the doorway, “Merlin told ranted about my fate all the time! Long before I even met Lancelot!”

Gawain massages his forehead just under his visor, “He was driving me mad! I didn’t know a damn thing about who Lancelot was supposed to be, but when I finally found him, I was going to challenge him to a duel to the death!”

“That sounds reasonable,” Sonic answers dryly, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. Gawain obviously had a flair for the dramatics, given how he reacted to his unexpected loss to Sonic, but why did this guy go straight for the kill-or-be-killed option? Definitely some less drastic steps he could try first.

The echidna is either oblivious to Sonic’s sarcasm or choosing to ignore it, nodding as though he truly and honestly thought ‘duel to the death’ was a reasonable solution, “Aye. Either Lancelot’d kill me before ‘fate’ wanted me dead, or I’d kill him first and derail the whole damn thing.”

 “Wait, what? Kill?” Sonic’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise, stopping mid-step. Gawain continues to usher him forward like a little kid, though, which is starting to get kind of annoying. He digs his heels into the stone and pushes back against the echidna’s strength, “Lancelot is supposed to kill you?!”

“Aye! My kiss of death at Lancelot’s hand will be dealt by the sword with the red hilt!” Gawain waves a hand flippantly, obviously past the point of caring and seeming overall unimpressed by the whole impending-murder prophecy.

“Actually, that was the first thing Merlin told Lancelot when he first arrived at court, too!” The knight sighs wearily, so maybe it still does bother him some, “Not even a greeting! A new arrival, determined to prove himself among the legends of chivalry and champions of justice, guided by tales of fellowship and a kind, just king-”

Sonic lets out a long breath through his nose at all the unnecessary detail and adjectives, very much not moving his feet at all now. Gawain seems to be even stronger than Knuckles is, pushing him forward like Sonic weighs nothing. It’s kind of impressive, but he’s only putting up with this treatment because he’s curious to hear how this story ends, “Only to be immediately accosted by a strange old man! A strange old man with a very big walking stick who points it at this unknown youth’s face and just starts yelling in his face, ‘You! You’re going to kill Gawain, the man you love most, with the sword of the red hilt! It’s your destiny!’”

“...Youth?” For some reason, Sonic’s attention fixes on that weird little detail, squinting at Gawain’s face over his shoulder. The echidna’s obviously an adult, but it’s not like Gawain has an incredible amount of wrinkles or gray hairs, “You’re older than Lancelot?”

“By two years!” Gawain announces proudly, and Sonic’s interest in that sidenote immediately fizzles out. The echidna was just being his usual dramatic self again and making something small seem much bigger and more important than it actually was, “Where was I?”

“Well, neither you or Lancelot seems to be dead, so I’m assuming you didn’t end up challenging him like you planned,” Sonic offers only slightly helpfully before they’re both standing at the bottom of the stairwell. He crosses his arms over his chest as he watches Gawain, in a much better mood, gently open the door without breaking it off its hinges. It still shakes and creaks like the wood is protesting- Gawain definitely isn’t as careful with his strength as Knuckles is.

“Ah, yes! The moment I heard my name mentioned, I immediately knew this was supposed to be my destined rival. I stood up to challenge this knave who hadn’t given anyone his name yet, but before I could call out to him…” The echidna grins wide at the memory, looking incredibly amused and pleased, “Lancelot told Merlin no!”

“Heh,” Sonic is much more amused by Gawain’s good mood, finding that wide smile contagious. The ceiling abruptly goes from patches with holes to clear blue sky piles on either side, which means they’re close to the epicenter of Merlina’s whole freeze-everything-to-save-everyone spell, “How’d Merlin take it?”

 “Exactly as you think!” Gawain laughs heartily, eyes crinkling as his smile stretches across his muzzle, “Simply imagine it, Sir Sonic! The greatest sorcerer of our time. personally responsible for putting Uther and his son on the throne and orchestrating so many other wondrous and terrible events! Used to being respected and feared, only to have this saucy knight without a single deed or accomplishment to his name, tell him directly, ‘Give that quest to someone else, I’m not interested,’ before walking away! Lancelot gave the King’s Advisor his back without a second thought!”

Sonic shakes his head with an amused sigh, not really understanding why this is so funny, but Gawain’s chuckles are hard to resist. Shadow probably wouldn’t have given Merlin an answer, just glower at him and leave to do his own dark hedgehog-y things, like usual. Sonic grins right back at Gawain, “Hehe. Merlin sounds like an intense guy, I can understand why you didn’t like him very much.”

“I did not dislike him,” Gawain says carefully, very obviously trying to make his point as precisely as possible, “Merlin had always been a little odd, always had a habit of speaking in prophecies and riddles, but he wasn’t...”

Gawain pauses as he mulls over his words carefully, obviously searching for the right word before giving up, “He took a turn for the worse after King Arthur lost Excalibur.”

Gawain’s mood dampens to a quiet melancholy, rubbing at the back of his neck as they finally get to the courtyard entrance. Rather, the chipped walkway and pillar markings that show this was once a doorway, “Perhaps that loss was the beginning of the end.”

“Yeah?” Sonic prompts Gawain absently, hand on his hips as he looks at the little garden. It’s odd- this had been the epicenter of Merlina’s magic that had leveled half the castle, but the trees and flowers here seem absolutely fine. Not so much as a broken branch or scattering of leaves across the grass, “What makes you say that?”

“Well, shortly after that, Merlin began acting like he was on a desperate, secret quest,” Gawain goes up to the nearest tree, leaning a hand against the bark as he peers up at the branches, “Frantically looking for signs, muttering to himself that there wasn’t enough time!”

Gawain pulls back and rubs at his forehead, obviously not finding what he was looking for, before moving onto a different tree, “Merlin was then obsessively watching the flight of birds in the sky, scribing into his glass ball for hours, looking into the horizon of the lakeshore and the mouth of the river like he was searching for something...”

Gawain’s eyes slide over to Sonic with an unplaceable emotion, “Or someone?”

That catches Sonic by surprise, stopping mid-step towards the tree, “Me?”

He points to himself, looking around to make sure Gawain isn’t actually talking to Lancelot who suddenly materialized out of nowhere, or someone else, “You think he was looking for me?”

“Who can say?” Gawain answers back just as evasively, nodding towards the second tree and giving it a gentle tap that still has the entire tree shaking. There’s a loud squawk from the branches as two little birds fly out in a panic, and a much less bird-like muttered curse.

 “Lancelot!” The echidna yells up at the tree branches cheerfully, as though he didn’t just try to knock Lancelot off the tree a moment ago.

Sonic squints up at the tree, and sure enough, there is a figure high up in the branches that looks very much like a hedgehog… but is hanging onto the branch in a more sloth-like way. Lancelot obviously hadn’t been in a very stable position before Gawain shook the tree, and appears to have only just managed to avoid being knocked off.

Sonic snorts at this very inelegant and uncool look for the grim hedgehog, and is momentarily sorry Caliburn isn’t here to see this. That sword of his put Lancelot up on too high a pedestal, and would benefit from seeing more of the man and less of the legend.

“Hullo, Lancelot!” Gawain calls out again, waving when the tree-bound hedgehog finally spots them, “What are you up to today?”

“Gawain!” Lancelot answers back just as cheerfully, which is honestly a little weird to hear from someone who looks so much like Shadow but nice that apparently he holds Gawain in high esteem, too, “Sonic!”

Lancelot changes his grip so he is holding onto the branch with one hand, holding out a bundle that… looks like it’s squirming? Huh? Sonic squints at the bundle as what looks like a little, stubby hand shoots out from a space in the fabric, “Impeccable timing! I could use your assistance in this matter!”

Okay it's cannon but like in an alternative universe because Comics. I just think the fact DC made Known Murderer and Reblious Teen with Daddy Issues a Catholic priest in a different universe. Just. Casually.

Jason Todd is may or may not be Catholic in the main timeline of DC Comics, but I the Flashpoint storyline, my man is a priest! He was a drug addict, thief, and in the Blood Brother cult before dying, only to come back to life and decide to become a priest in the hellhole that is Gotham. In the main timeline, he comes back after dying and stuffs a duffel bags full of heads! The common trait before all Jason Todds is that they all have to be as dramatic as possible. Dying and coming back as the most unexpected thing. Unbelievable. I love this man.

Single dad who is a private, self-employed detective who loves banging it to some tunes and is trying to pay rent. Thats literally the Chaotix’s whole thing: they pick up cases to pay the rent. And he’s Catholic.

I think (hc) vector is the only cishet character in all of the sonic universe which makes him being catholic that much funnier like. He goes to church wearing a “proud dad” t-shirt then he goes home to his 2 trans kids to tell them how much he supports them etc etc. Also one time someone posted how Vector would be the funniest character to be catholic only to find out in the notes that was basically canon so.

Okay so

For various reasons, Sonic Adventure (SA1) is among my dead favorite games. The two relevant to this rant are the characters and the gorgeous soundtrack (in fact, I might go on a tangent about individual songs at the end of this).

My favorite character in the game is E-102 “Gamma” (btw if you derail this post about Omega, you die), a robot built by Eggman, who runs on animal power, as Eggman’s robots usually do. However, Gamma contains a very special animal - it’s a surprise tool the will help us later. Five minutes into being born (and after training, ofc), he is forced to shoot his brother, E-101 “Beta”. Following this, he board’s Eggman’s ship (the Egg Carrier) and is tasked with catching the tailed frog. Upon collecting the frog, he is transported to the past, where he experiences childlike wonder at the chao. Back on the Egg Carrier, the rest of his siblings are cast out because of their failure to get the frog. After that, Gamma is sent to execute a prisoner. On the way, he makes a wrong turn and ends up in the machining room, where he experiences eldritch horror at the sight of his brother being disassembled and reassembled. In the prison, he finds Amy Rose, who has a blue bird flying around with her looking for its parents. She convinces him not to kill her a la Mindy Animaniacs, and protects Sonic out on the deck of the ship, further confusing Gamma. He leaves the crashing ship, now convinced to “rescue” his disowned brothers. After successfully disposing of them, he is ambushed on the Egg Carrier by Beta Mk II, who feigns death in order to shoot Gamma in the back, and they both die as a result. Lo and behold, Gamma and Beta contained the parents of the bird. Reunited, they fly off into the sunset.

TLDR: Gamma is Eggman robot who experiences eldritch horror and compassion and forsakes his master as a result. He “rescues” his siblings before dying himself, and the animal inside him reunites with its family.

Now, a little more background before we get to the main point. SEGA Sound Team popped off for this game. Each character has a theme song that plays during their respective recaps and end credits (each one has an entire storyline with slight variations on who does what (it’s all happening at once)). Side note: I’m like 70% sure SA1 is the origin of Knuckles jazz. It should also be noted that I have a youtube playlist of songs on queue for downloading, and when I run out of ideas I scroll through the recommended additions section.

E-102’s theme is in my top three favorite songs from SA1. You’ll never guess what it’s called! Theme of E-102γ. And that’s my first talking point. I was reading the comments on one of the music videos, and one of them made a connection that his theme doesn’t get a proper name because he’s just another cog in the machine. Even Big the Cat has a greater role in the main story than him. And yet, doomed by the narrative as he is, he gets his own story. As another comment pointed out, each story has its own (literary) theme: Sonic is Adventure, Tails is Independence, Knuckles is Recollection (I’m kinda iffy on that one), Amy is Protection, Big is Friendship, and Gamma? Gamma is heart and soul. Compassion. Morality, something that shouldn’t be possible, and definitely isn’t comprehensible for a robot, especially one of Eggman’s creation.

As a side tangent here, I’ve been putting rescued in quotes when it comes to Gamma and his brothers, but I realized something between the time I started writing this and now. The animals that drop from the E-series robots are birds. They’re all his brothers, inside and out. I had always assumed that Gamma had meant rescue only in the liberation sense. I never realized that he meant it both ways. I just… I’m need a moment.

As a side side tangent, I think this is one of the biggest differences between E-100 ZERO and the rest. To my knowledge, he didn’t have any animals, much less another bird, and that was what led him to the brutish oafishness that we see displayed by him.

Back to the main points, I think that all of this is reflected in the song. It starts out with all of the synth, vague vocals, electro, etc. that would be expected from the theme of a robot, and then you’ve got… PIANO. Oh my god the piano. Piano Man has its harmonica, and this song has its piano. In the midst of the circuits, the wires, the computers, there’s life, a heartbeat, a soul. And with the soul comes that twinge of sadness. Sure he freed the animals, but to do so, he had to kill his brothers with his own two (?)(does the gun count?) hands. Due to this and the cumulation of everything else, hearing the song (or the variation of it) during his final cutscene hits and hits hard.

THE REPRISE OF THE MAIN THEME PIANO AS HE DIES IN OBSCURITY. THE OTHER BIRDS ARE LIKELY THE ONLY ONES THAT END UP KNOWING ABOUT HIS DEATH

I think it was one of the older Wachowskis who was involved with the Ark incident. Maddie saying there's been a Wachowski protecting Green Hills for over 50 years, that feels way too specific to be a coincidence. Not to mention it wasn't outright G.U.N. in this universe that did it, because it wasn't formed until after the events of the first movie. That would spin things into a WHOLE new context as to why Shadow has it out for Sonic, because he's a Wachowski 👀

Amy and Rouge will be in it! Please!!!

Amy will still like Sonic in it, and he'll just be super embarrassed and bashful about the entire idea, but I don't expect or necessarily want them to actually get together in the movie. (Especially since they're much more painted as KIDS in the movie. I still think Sonic will like her back, and I'd want them to be together EVENTUALLY, but not in the timeline of the movie.)

Shadow will end up getting adopted by either Wade, or Rachel! I think Jojo's presence, a sweet little girl, might remind him of Maria 🥹

OKAY SO THE GIST OF THIS IS

sonic isnt a guy for regrets, but im 100% sure he wishes there had been literally any way to save emerl. hes not the type to be kept up at night with guilt or anything, but i find it hard to believe he wouldnt have had trauma from being forced to kill his robot son

the circumstances around sonic killing emerl are this: 1) the chaos emeralds thoroughly fucked emerl up and he lost control of himself and was destined to destroy the planet basically immediately. 2) sonic had to make an instantaneous decision to kill him because if he didn't, everything, EVERYTHING, would have been wiped out in a matter of minutes. there was no time to deliberate. he had to get in and get shit done and not think about his feelings. 3) this was basically another adoptive little brother to sonic, or as some would say, even more like a son. the ending dialogue from sonic might be the most emotional we've gotten to see him in a game, ever. of course he was fucked up by having to kill emerl. theres a chance he thought his attack wouldnt actually kill emerl, that if he just beat him then the chaos emeralds would leave him or whatever. but regardless, it killed him. sonic destroyed emerl and it couldn't be undone.

that? the previous bullet point? would fuck anyone up. a split second choice to fight someone you see as a son/adoptive little brother because they are no longer in control of themselves and are about to destroy the world if you don't kill them before they have the chance. that's fucked up. i think he thinks about that sometimes -- and even if he tries not to think about it, some part of him would've had to process that and changed him, even just a little.

anyways. for the fic idea.

tails has the ability to make fake chaos emeralds.

fake chaos emeralds fuck people up. they have all the power of chaos emeralds, but in a sickly way; they may make the user more prone to losing control.

tails might not have a canon super form anymore (jury's still out if super tails is still canon) but he can still certainly USE the chaos emeralds as of sonic heroes, or at least have others grant him some element of their power (bubble shield, stronger attacks, whatever. he fought alongside super sonic and knuckles in heroes)

if there was a lab accident with fake chaos emeralds... if tails lost control suddenly... if he had extremely destructive power in his lab that he was suddenly inclined to use due to the influence of chaos emeralds-

if the situation was exactly. like. emerl.

would sonic have to make another split second decision?

and if he didn't end up having to actually make that decision... if he gears up for a fight, and tails lets go of that power, chooses not to use it. would sonic have to live with himself knowing that he thought about it? even for a second?
