*stares at disciple SQQ falling into the abyss au*
oh you are so "SY-is-SJ" coded. You are so "fell into the abyss and suddenly remembered that oh i've been Shen Jiu this whole time, not just Shen Yuan. we are one and the same". you are so 'crumbling under the weight of the system and being in the abyss and the despair of never really being free and having suffered in both lives' built. you are so 'scrambling to come to terms with your existence and battling with which life is really yours, only to realize that they both are'. You are primed for going off the rails.
I'm so normal about this guys. i promise.
#svsss#mxtx svsss#svsss au#shen yuan#shen qingqiu#scum villian self saving system#scum villian#svsss role reversal au#IF I MAKE IT SY-IS-SJ THERE'S NO STOPPING ME FROM MAKING THIS AU QIJIU. LIKE IT MUST BE QIJIU IF I GO THAT ROUTE.#grinding my teeth. grips you by the shoulders tightly#the angst of YQY finding out SQQ fell into the endless abyss and falling into a despair that he couldnt save him AGAIN. him trying to go#through hell and high water trying to get him back. him and LBH are losing their shit. also the idea that YQY existed in SY's world too#not as an older brother but as a close childhood friend who was there for him for years up until their HS years where something happened#that caused a falling out. but YQY keeps trying to rekindle that friendship and never can in that world bc SY dies before they can reconnec#SQQ realizing that he misses YQY like a limb and thinking that if he sees him again he'll demand answers for his supposed abandonment but#also he just wants to hug him. just once. and then maybe punch him. not in that order. its the doomed soulmates guys. its the reconnection#obsessed obsessed obsessed. like HMMMM. SQQ knows YQY's fate from the book and the idea makes him so nauseous he has to sit down#bingqiu is fantastic but ALSO. QIJIU. 'SY-is-SJ' is decidedly perhaps my favorite trope for the time being if only for the pure and utter#self-hatred SY and SJ are going to inflict on each other. its about the mental breakdown guys. especially with chronically ill SY.#SJ hating SY for being sick. for being a shut in. they are a reflection of each other they ARE each other and they hate themselves#holding back from going off the rails about 'SY-is-SJ' au combined with him falling into the abyss#'no light no light' by florence and the machines is this au guys. ive decided it now

The most surprisingly cool thing I discovered in New York City is the public art at a lot of its subway stations. BTW: they call it the subway even in long stretches which are above street level.
It's true that a majority of subway stations in NYC are rather industrial looking and not particularly noteworthy. But a large minority feature some sort of art and a few dozen are worth going out of your way to visit. There's no fee to see the art other than the cost of subway fare.
The MTA Arts & Design digital guide is live and at your fingertips! #MTAArts is thrilled to join the incredible list of organizations featured on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app. Download the Bloomberg Connects app and search for MTA Arts & Design to start planning your next adventure!
The app offers MTA riders and app users anywhere in the world new ways to discover the nearly 400 permanent and temporary public artworks in the subway and commuter rail stations across the MTA network. Embark on self-guided tours using the interactive map, or explore photos, videos, and curated content from home. The A&D collection is now more accessible than ever. Special features within the guide will provide the latest information on MTA Arts & Design’s most-recent permanent art installations and temporary programming including our Digital Art, Photography, Poster, Poetry in Motion, and Music Under New York projects.

hey do you guys know about
the history of the bus?
they started as an "omnibus" a horse drawn two stop back and forth along a pre determined route! then they added more stops! they messed with the size of the omnibus and the number of horses until they hit the right size for the route!
(blease note these are intra-city buses, stagecoaches would go outside the city to specific locations and they generally required a reserved seat)
they basically SLAPPED A ROOF AREA to get roof passengers! double deck omnibuses!
then we get MOTOR OMNIBUSES! as the petrol engine is getting better! for context the first motor omnibus ran in 1899 - this is 13 years after the patent for the first petrol engine car (1886), 74 years after the first steam public railway in england (1825) and 36 years after the london underground was opened (1863). by 1911 there were no horse-drawn omnibuses owned by the london general omnibus company!
AND THEY WERE EVERYWHERE! (please look at the number of BUSES and INDIVIDUAL CARRIAGES [usually hired cabs] and PEDESTRIANS)
a lot of places switched to electric trams in the 1910s, public transport became reliant on the comparatively more efficient light rail or tram systems. the trams gave way to electric buses in london in 1930! they were much less dangerous than trams as people did not have to walk right into traffic to get on em
then as engines got more efficient trolleybuses were switched with petrol engine buses
then in the 1950s more people got cars and they began dominating the streets and creating.. traffic and. traffic laws. and stuff.
thanks for coming to my whistlestop bus lesson hope u have a brilliant day
#i went to a transport museum and I've been thinking about it CONSTANTLY lfjsjdhsj#this is london perspective btw since it was... the london transport museum#long post#it was like. in the 1910s a battle between buses and trams/light rail systems#and buses tended to be safer bc of the nature of traffic laws and pedestrians back then#so london prioritised buses. but people were going on the underground too bc it was muuuch faster lol#anyway. transport! fascinating#and short-stagecoaches existed before buses did for intra-city travel but they tended to be by hosuehold rather than location#also expensive. well omibuses were expensive too. this is very high level fldbfjdjfj

*Lay out a bunch of Sampo screenshots I took as part of my blessings to the Warp Departure gacha in hopes I get this pathetic cringefail (affectionate) of a man one day*
#rubi’s post#honkai star rail#sampo koski#I never felt disappointed in the gacha system since maybe FEH or something along the lines#tho at least FEH was genorous enough to give out Heroes regardless of its 3-4 stars or pity breaks#meanwhile I keep getting light cones left and right#at least the story and sidequests were interesting#not to mention the attractive character designs

Here's a glimpse into my project. I'd love to see Columbus, Ohio build something robust that can rival cities across the world! Too bad this city doesn't believe in public transportation. Too much sprawl in this city and no way of navigating it without a car.
I know it looks pretty dense, but remember, this is downtown. Cities elsewhere have stations that are really close to one another. The red line in downtown Chicago. The 5 train in Lower Manhattan. Shoot, you can even see the Triskett Station from the Westpark Station in Cleveland, Ohio. It's not that weird.
Anyway, I'd like some opinions on this. I've just developed my own fantasy subway/metro map for the city in which I live. I love this city and it deserves more. This is just my ideal reality.

this looks TERRIBLE??? why does this stupid fucking 3 line take over the 1 lines route to lynnwood (and then everett) wtf are they thinking
#theyll be rerouting the 1 line so if i want to go 3 stops north on the current route ill have to transfer#and apparently the transfers will sometimes be multiple blocks between stations? of walking on street level?#could u design a worse light rail system holyyyy shit#and of course they say itll be done in 18 yrs which is already ridiculous. and im sure itll be delayed at LEAST 5yrs#horrible

so i live outside of my areas light rail system but in a couple weeks i'm going to be in the city for the majority of my time and want to be able to take public transport and i'm realizing have no fucking clue what i'm doing.
i don't know how to pay or how to verify that i'm a student in the areas that the fee is covered by my college.
i don't know how to figure out when and where i need to switch lines to get other places, let alone how switching lines actually works (do i have to pay again, how do i know i'm at the right station, etc).
is this kind of stuff just not taught at all? or is this on my school/parents? was i supposed to learn this at some point or do i just have to do it without knowing what i'm doing
#help#guys i'm so lost#public transit#public transportation#public transport system#light rail#guys i'm so fr please help

just had a thought that universal healthcare would be better for the environment because if there’s more people like me who want to live out in the countryside or who want to try homesteading or living off the grid but are tied to the city because of their job benefits, giving everyone free healthcare would free them up to live wherever they choose and something something less people in cities the better
#personally i think the two biggest things we could do that would benefit the most people and the environment would be universal healthcare &#and a widespread high speed rail system along all the highways and freeways#i know it’s logistically unlikely to be approved but i think we should take the middle two lanes out of every freeway/stroad and put#rails there#so that the people who would normally commute on those roads would be able to take the train instead#the roads are already there we have the arterial paths but nobody wants to shrink the roads#so every urban light rail project (at least here) has to go underground#i believe that since fast travel is required for most jobs and fast long distance travel is a necessity to visit relatives#it should be cheap and accessible to all#and we should ban private jets for everyone but maybe heads of state (because they need to stay alive for their whole term)#and also space travel shouldn’t be privately owned because of the enormous environmental impact#and its potential benefit to humankind in terms of scientific research#anyways travel#families live so spread out now compared to earlier generations and i think it’s necessary for us to be able to see each other regularly

UK: WMCA Funds Coventry Very Light Rail Demonstration
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Board has confirmed the first instalment of an expected 72 million GBP investment in Coventry’s Very Light Rail (VLR) technology. The Coventry Very Light Rail system has been designed to be quicker and cheaper to build than traditional tram and rail systems. It uses lightweight, battery-powered electric vehicles to operate without overhead lines, and…

I was looking up just how far off the timing was between this and the MSP streetcar closures (not far at all, essentially overlapping) and a) sorry about NCL apparently being originally from Minnesota even though they didn't run our streetcars, big MN L there, and b) this paragraph from the Minneapolis streetcar wiki page is...
did an auto executive from the '50s come forward in time to edit this wiki page to take a bold preemptive streetcars-were-doomed stance? because the NCL conspiracy has not actually been brought up anywhere else in the article so this whole para comes off as very much protesting too much. Anyway uh [citation needed]
never forget that we could have had robust trolley/tram system in many american cities still if it weren't for General Motors (this is not a conspiracy theory it's quite literally an actualized conspiracy that went to court)
#i feel about the light rail like an annoying family member#anyone outside my circle who complains about it? i will defend it to the rafters#but my best friend and i have definitely spent cumulative hours on the topic. it's like the weather to us#with frequent guest star appearances by our friend the old streetcar system
