Put it in a robo-advisor, probably in a category less risk-averse than they recommend. They can actually have value over not, at least for smaller amounts; I use WealthFront (referral link), but many others are good too and my main recommendation is Not Betterment because they make it hard to leave. You can also do Vanguard LifeStrategy Growth fund, although I would say even that one is too conservative.
Don’t withdraw more than 4% of the initial value per year, adjusted for inflation; preferably withdraw less especially in down years.
That’s it. Optionally, you should do these other two steps:
Research trusts. I don’t know much about them but I think they can be useful here?
Do more research on asset allocations and endowment handling, because step 1 is good enough but I can do better. In particular, for me: does my ideal asset allocation change now? Do the advantages of a robo-advisor still make them worth the fees at this scale; if not how can I get the features I do want (auto rebalance, PLoC?, maybe direct indexing?) and if so do I want a different one? Is there anything to that one thing I read about annuities which says they aren’t intrinsically as scammy as people think and can be good if used right?
If that sort of thing is not interesting to you, you can try to find a competent non-scammy financial advisors, but even just the first part is good enough.
