New Year Reading for 2024! 🌟 - Libra

Preshuffle: Your lover could be someone that’s very attractive, charming, a leader of some kind, or someone that gets a lot of attention. It’s why you like them and also why you don’t, because you’re extremely guarded with this fire 🔥 energy, due to things that have hurt in the past. They may be charming, but you find them to be spontaneous, which is fun, and it’s also unreliable. You’re embracing more of Queen/King of Swords energy because of a lack of trust, feeling guarded, protecting yourself from being hurt by some Don/Donna Juan (yes Donna will do 😆) that’s only out for a good time and onto the next thing. Fire tends to care about what THEY want, right now, and get labeled as “selfish” for this reason. Do they intend to be that way, usually no, and they’re often quite generous & loving too, but you’re over here setting boundaries and making sure everything is fair for everyone…and there could be friction there. Meditation: A very powerful & mysterious meditation, and there’s two sides to this. First, I heard “The House of the Setting Sun”, and your door was literally arguing with me that I can’t go inside, I saw a peek and it was like a warehouse factory, lots of things going on in there as if it were in preparation for something to later be revealed. They repeated the name over and over again. When I looked it up, there are a few songs with that name, and a few actual places (one being a haunted house). The other side was intuition when this name was repeated over and over, of the story/chapter in Game of Thrones when Daenerys goes to the House of the Undying and has visions. There are thousands of fan theories on that, I assume only fans would care about that. Either side of this leads to intense rabbit holes you may choose to jump into or not. Both show intense spiritual work being done, a dark night of the soul perhaps, I’m expecting a Hermit & High Priestess for you in this reading. Spirituality, the questions of everything in the universe, your path, facing darkness in oneself and others. In the show, Dany went through absolute hell before she rose again more powerful than before, I think that’s the whole point of this, because you’re feeling down, guarded, protective, and pessimistic about things, that I can tell. It’s a process, not a finality 💜

I’M SHRIEKING OVER HERE. The minute I pulled High Priestess as the first card. Holy shit 😂 Clarified by The Magician, 7 Cups, and The Hermit. It’s no joke, I’m over here excited because I’ve done this & I get it, I love to see these awakenings and spiritual work. But…on the other side of it, what it takes to get there is often painful. Surviving everything that is hell in your life. To use the show as an example, Dany lost her child, her husband, her entire family, every sense of personal definition & identity she’d ever had, everyone she’d ever loved, and it crushed her…before she eventually rose again. Because you have to. Well, you don’t have to, but eventually you *will* want to. This energy leads to transformation, extremely painful while you’re in it, but eventually you won’t be the same person anymore, then leaving this is the natural next step. We don’t usually go looking for this, it’s more like…when Spirit is all we have left, is when we start really listening. South Node aligns with Libra placements for another year before moving on, and ego deaths have probably been the first step (last year energy) for most, what you thought was true before, now it’s about you on the inside - the bare essentials. You’re not your job, your relationship, your stuff, your family, your gender or preferences. Labels. Who are you?

You may have gotten several spiritual nudges about toxic things in your life, toxic behaviors you act out, avoidance and refusal to take accountability for things on both parts, you and others. This has created a situation of confusion…why are you alone now? Or why do you *feel* alone? Well, that’s why. People that don’t take accountability for their side of issues will be left to “deal with it” one way or another. Some people stay like that forever. It’s both sides, there are people around you that are in this avoidant energy, playing out the same toxic behaviors and acting out of shadow that they always have. And you are doing the same, maybe not in the same ways. We all have toxic shit inside of us, it’s the human experience, dark and light, and the most toxic person is the one that swears they aren’t, the person who has a negative story for everyone they’ve ever known, but doesn’t realize or admit that they’ve played a role in each one. Lilith will be entering your sign mid-year to join the South Node, for a double whammy of showing you especially, what triggers you, what kind of behaviors and habits give you negative results, what have you avoided facing? Yours especially are focused inward, being in your own sign. It sounds daunting and it is, but it has a purpose, you’ll realize later.

Libra risings are especially likely to feel attacked by others’ anger, jealousy, greed, lust & fantasy, either in being put on “sexy” pedestals that don’t actually exist for the sake of fantasy, consciously choosing to act in such a way as you *want* that, embracing tempting or lustful Lilith energy itself, or in the more negative, hateful ways of Lilith’s expression, them projecting that on you and you acting in this way, both sides. People may think the worst of you, encouraging you to go into Hermit energy. That logically explains your Queen/King of Swords card being highlighted, though that’s you normally too, but this year it’s especially necessary. Cutting through the bs, facing the truth…all sides of it, yours too. No more avoiding facing facts, with the dominant focus being on your own shadows & unsavory experiences or behaviors, addictions, unconscious/conscious learned toxicity from others, hardcore spiritual/psychological work & eventual awakenings. By this time next year, suns & moons should feel much different, more self-aware & confident - positively. The sun will rise again. Risings will have the nodes moving through their 12th as well, for two more years, for an extra dose of spiritual work - also positive, but an even deeper darkness to continue navigating - the unconscious mind itself & letting go. As you’re processing the negative, allow yourself to let in the positive too. This card refers to a specific relationship, could be romantic, doesn’t have to be. Siblings are mentioned as well. Some may be involved with Twin Flames, some may be a literal twin, or it’s someone else, but this describes the dynamic of two separate people who are yin/yang, masculine/feminine, light and dark, etc. Opposites essentially, but eerily similar, and there’s a lot of fighting, arguing, toxic behaviors and judgements of the other person, when some looking in the mirror is needed. One person may be more active & going for what they want, the other is more receptive and accepts what comes to them. One person may be at the top of their game, the other person is emotionally in a dark place right now. Fingers are pointed at the other person as if they’re the problem, but neither are actually judging the other - but more themselves. Or need to be. The whole year has this same dynamic, the nodes refer to self vs others (Aries/Libra), and partnerships are most affected here. We’re all on different timelines, with different past lives, different karma, different lessons and purposes. When you’re feeling dark/spiritual 12th House energy, someone else is feeling 5th happy go lucky energy, having kids or winning at life. When you’re in 10th work mode, some are in 4th family mode. When you’re focused on others, others may need to be focused on themselves, and *no one is wrong*. No one is right either. Regarding: The Sun rev

The person you’re with is probably more career oriented than you are, and it’s a burden that weighs you down. If you’re a stay at home parent, your person’s successes may feel like a threat to you, along with any contacts they have at work or in their life. You could feel like they’re going to find something better and leave you, and these issues of codependency and fear need to come to light - because right now they just fester inside of you. There’s an imbalance in your relationship. Some of you hate your job, or your person’s job. Some of you are uncomfortable with the lack of money coming in. Most just don’t feel confident with where they are right now - as an individual, because it’s the feelings of the individual that are being avoided. You or them. There’s a toxic game of avoiding issues going on between you, and it could be because you don’t want to burden others with your feelings (or vice versa), but until they’re dealt with it’s just going to be more of the same. Some of these issues may be financial, like you’re a single person operating in a relationship, and there’s no togetherness, no romance, it’s acting more like roommates than true love. I don’t see immaturity, or toxic anger issues, no explosions or battles, just not speaking how you feel, not addressing things that need to be addressed. The card that came out for who this could be (or the most needed to see) is The Enchanter, someone that’s a master of deception and trickery, they lie and deceive. Or do they? It all may sound a little too good to be true, is this the first time they’ve played the game they’re playing? Twin again comes out literally in this card. Is this truly a Twin or a hard lesson? There may be some deceptive shit going on here, thus bringing out the accountability and what’s being avoided. If you’re bouncing from connection to connection and avoiding a relationship altogether, could be because you’ve already dealt with this person. Or is this person you? Specifically, with the one you’re trying to reconnect with. On some level, like with most of this reading, it feels like both.

Work could be the cause of some relationship problems, preshuffle energy is coming out here. Big Ideas, Big Questions: 2024 Mercury in Sagittarius

What: Mercury in Sagittarius

When: Nov. 2, 2024 - Jan. 8, 2025 

Who’s Impacted: EVERYONE, but esp. Mutable signs (Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces) and the other fire signs (Aries, Leo). 

Takeaway: the planet of communication takes a long stroll through the jovial fire sign, thanks to a mid-cycle retrograde; thoughts, writing, news, and the truth move at a similarly stalled pace. 

     2024 has been hella exhausting and the mental fatigue is real. Thankfully, the planets have your back with a transit that is sure to fire up your thinking. On Nov. 2, Mercury entered invigorating fire sign Sagittarius, where it will stay until Jan. 8, 2025, which is an unusually long time for Mercury to be in a sign—and it’s thanks to an end-of-year retrograde. Normally, I post horoscopes on the day or the day before a transit is set to happen, but it seems more prudent to post these horoscopes a little later since Mercury has already moved into its pre-retrograde shadow phase. I already talked in-depth about the significance of the pre-retrograde shadow in my weekly forecast, but here’s a quick refresher: 

     In the three phases of retrogrades—pre, retro, and post—the pre-retrograde shadow phase gives us a preview of the themes, lessons, and mix-ups we’ll see (way) more of during Mercury Retrograde. It can be a time of deceleration, too. Because when we’re in the pre-shadow phase, Mercury begins to slow down and inch its way over the area (degrees) of the zodiac sign it’ll revisit during the retrograde. If it sounds confusing, don’t worry. Pre-retrograde shadow is the dress rehearsal, the movie trailer that drops hints of the upcoming retrograde’s plot twists. Of course, the big question for this pre-retrograde shadow is: What will those plot twists be?

     Known for its big-picture focus and love of ideas, Mercury in Sagittarius values the “wow factor” over small details. So from Nov. 2 through Jan. 8, you, me, the media, and any would-be presidential candidate (you know the one) are all more likely to exaggerate for effect or add a touch of drama to make a story resonate. In other words, tall tales, exaggerations, and wide extensions of the truth are par for the course. In fiery, Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius, Mercury, the messenger and megaphone of astrology, gets even louder, bolder, and potentially more controversial with the messages it sends. It is very in-your-face—especially during that pre-retrograde phase.

     Now, I’m not here to spoil the fun of Mercury in Sagittarius, because it can be a really great transit for big, bold ideas and honest conversations. Nor am I here to stir up your anxiety, because I don’t want to do that. However, I do want to be real and honest with you. Based on what we’ve already seen/heard, and based on what we know about Mercury Retrograde, I think certain groups (ie: Trump and his allies) are going to try and amp up efforts to spread more misinformation and disinformation, especially during the height of the pre-retrograde shadow and retrograde transit. I think we’re heading into a period where conspiracy theories and more incendiary rhetoric are going to run wild. 

     So, it’s important to stay aware of this, to practice critical thinking and media literacy, and to not believe everything you read or see. I’m not attempting to sow distrust in anything (except maybe Truth Social), I just want you to be prepared. Both Mars and Mercury will be retrograde in the beginning of December, so things might get messy / confusing / chaotic; they might already feel that way for you. My main worry is that certain people are going to add more fuel to that fire. If that is the case, please remember: you are not at the mercy of astrology or the media; you are not at the mercy of anything or anyone else. You still have free will, free choice, and astute critical thinking skills; you still have your power. No one and no thing can take that from you. Anyway!

It wants balance in all things—whether between nations or in your relationships—and will use its charming tact to get there. But we can’t forget: Libra is also a cardinal sign, which means it’s all about action, even if it’s wrapped in a pretty bow of diplomacy. So while Libra likes peace, it will fight for what’s right if it has to.

As she and Cherrypit walked through Gridania she was wobbling from side to side. “Bebe?” He was starting to get a little worried.  Babycorn stopped and swayed from side to side. “I’m fiiiine! Cherry! Don’t worry!” She smiled, while talking to a post in front of her. “...Cherry did you get taller?”  All of a sudden Babycorn’s balance failed her. She dropped down into a small puddle of water with a loud “Eek!” In an instant her clothes and her hair were soaked. And for some reason… “...Hey! I feel a whole lot better!”

From the way Pupusa was looking at it Babycorn figured it wasn’t a very exciting read.  

Babycorn wiggled uncomfortably in her chair. “Hey Pupusa? Can we just go home and forget the whoooole thing happened?” She hoped that they could walk out those doors and never ever turn back. That would be the best outcome. 

“If I let you run off I would never hear the end of it.” Pupusa didn’t even bother to give Babycorn a glance. Rather, she just kept on reading the stupid magazine in her hands that she hated. 

“But I don’t wanna be heeeeeere” Babycorn wailed. 

“Does it look like I want to be here either?” 

“Um…”

“The answer is no, Bebe.” Pupusa flipped a page in her magazine, gripping it tightly enough to give it even more wrinkles than it already had. It was a pretty old magazine.  “Besides–you only have yourself to blame for being here.” Despite the harsh wording Pupusa was one hundred percent right. 

“How is this my fault?!” 

This time Pupusa was annoyed enough to stare Babycorn in the face. She set her magazine down by throwing it back onto the coffee table in front of her. “Are you serious?” Pupusa knew Babycorn was dense and a little bit stupid but there was no way someone could be this dumb.

“We’re both here because you had to open your big fat mouth!”

Just a few hours earlier Babycorn had arrived at their home on a whim. All because she had happened to be visiting Ul’dah for an errand someone asked her to run. Pupusa had answered the door and promptly slammed it shut in front of Babycorn’s face. No way she was going to spend the afternoon with the Warrior of Light. Nuh uh. 

The only reason Babycorn had been allowed in was because Ceviche was on her way out and happily invited her inside. 

“I’m just on my way out with Libra but help yourself to any snacks around!” Ceviche grinned. In her arms was Libra, her one-year old daughter. Libra shook the rattle in her hand and smiled at Babycorn. She babbled her own unique greeting at her. 

“Hi Libra! Cool shaky thing! Babycorn did not know what a rattle was. “Where are you guys going?” Wherever the answer was–Babycorn was going to follow them to make sure they were safe. After all, absolutely anything and everything could happen when Babycorn personally wasn’t right behind the people she cared about specifically. 

“We’re just going to the doctors!” Ceviche answered. 

Babycorn was NOT following them.

“Okay have fun!” Babycorn moved so fast over to the kitchen that for a second it looked like she teleported herself in there. The sounds of her going to town on some leftover nachos from earlier that day very quickly filled in the silence. 

“Right.” Ceviche turned to leave, “Okay Libra let’s go get you those shots! And you’re gonna be a brave girl aren’t you?” She tickled Libra’s nose and giggled alongside her. “We’ll be back!” 

Pupusa got as far as opening her mouth to wish Ceviche a safe trip before the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps stopped her right before the first word. Babycorn had run back from the kitchen, a plate of nachos still in her hands and face covered in cheese. 

For some reason she looked really scared. 

“WHY ARE YOU GOING TO SHOOT LIBRA?!” Was this some sort of family thing she never heard about?! 

“What?” Pupusa didn’t have time for this. She sensed trouble coming a malm away. 

Ceviche on the other hand, was very taken aback. “Excuse me?!” She covered one of Libra’s ears. Even though they were covered by her onesies hoodie already. “Where did you hear that?!” 

“Y-Y-You said she was gonna get shots!” Babycorn’s eyes were watering and she was shaking in her custom-made boots. What had Libra done to deserve this?!  “Libras so smaaaall you can’t give her a gun!” Though he was still sleeping a memory of Cherrypit flashed in Babycorn’s memories. “...Then again-”

“Okay wait!” Ceviche was going to put a stop to this before it went anywhere else, while Pupusa just stared in the background, refusing to get involved.  “Babycorn. What do you think getting a shot means?” 

“Like…a gun?” Specifically a machinist gun. Like the ones Cherrypit liked to play with sometimes. Without Babycorn’s permission, might I add. 

“Seven hells-! NoO!!!” The majesty of the Warrior of Light being part of their family was quickly fading. Especially for Ceviche, who had spent the most time around Babycorn so far. “It’s just shots! Like at a doctor’s!?” At Babycorn’s age it should be common knowledge by now!

Babycorn’s memory was drawing a blank. She knew what a doctor was, some of her best friends forever were doctors! And even though they were scary sometimes they were still friends! 

“D-Don’t tell me you’ve never…”

“What? Gotten shot?” Babycorn shook her head, “I’ve been shot lotsa’ times! Mostly in Coerthas. During a fight! It was really fun!” And some other times here and there of course.

“Y-You’ve never…” Ceviche was at a loss. Was this really THE Warrior of Light standing right in front of her? “Have you ever even been to a doctor before?!”

“Just once! When I was a little girl my mama and papa took me to one cause I almost died!”

“I see.” 

Pupusa poked her head into the conversation. “I see. I guess your parents beefed it before you could get any shots.” Babycorn had already told them all about what had happened to them and in turn they told her about her grandfather. 

“Yeah I guess they did.” Babycorn did a good job pretending she wasn’t a little hurt by that.

Ceviche was deep in thought. Considering she was good friends with her daughter’s doctor she could very easily ask for a small favor. Because despite the mystique of the Warrior of Light falling to pieces–Babycorn was still family. And she couldn’t bear any family of her’s being in any danger of falling ill to any sorts of illnesses. 

It was decided then. 

“Okay! Chelinka Starsinger you’re coming with us!” Ceviche wasted no time in hearing Babycorn’s answer and grabbed her arm, dragging them outside. “Huh????” Babycorn had no objections with going with them, she was happy to! But it was a little confusing. 

Libra let out a happy little babble, as if she understood that her favorite playmate was coming with them. 

Pupusa remained silent as she watched from the front door. Finally–some peace and quiet.

“Pupusa you’re coming too!” Ceviche yelled from oh so far away.

“Aw-! What?!”

“I still don’t see why I had to come.” Pupusa slouched even deeper down into her chair. “You’re the one who needed to come here. I’m just collateral damage at this point.” Didn’t Ceviche know that she had more important things to do. 

Things that Pupusa couldn’t quite think of but surely it would come eventually.

At that moment the door to the doctor’s office opened. Both Pupusa and Babycorn turned their heads to see who was coming out this time. Unfortunately for Babycorn it was Ceviche and Libra, the latter had a little lollipop in mouth. “We’re all done!” Ceviche cried out, “And my little angel didn’t shed a single tear! She’s so brave! Aren’t you sweetie!!” She lifted Libra up in the air and wiggled her nose against her’s. 

“Okay Chelinka! Your turn!” 

“Yeah she just ran out the door.”

“What.” What Pupusa had said was true, the door was just slightly ajar and Babycorn was nowhere to be seen. This would not stand. “Here-!” Ceviche handed Libra to Pupusa and rolled her sleeves up. “I’m going to bring her back here if it's the last thing I do!” 

Pupusa let out a sigh. “Your moms really crazy–did you know that?” She grabbed Libra’s arm and wiggled it up and down. “Cwazy! Cwazy! Mamas cwazy!” Libra repeated. Pupusa smiled and lighty tugged on Libra’s small strand of blond hair. 

As it turned out Ceviche wouldn’t have to run far. When Babycorn ran out of the doctors as fast as she could she tripped on the very first step out. Falling backwards she landed on the back of her head and practically knocked herself out. 

“Ah.” There she was, a bump on her head and a pair of dizzy eyes on her face.
