Okay what IS IT with cishet men that makes them become so visibly tense and hostile when Queer masculine presenting people are around? ESPECIALLY if their girlfriend is with them. Like I cannot tell you the amount of times I've been around somewhere doing errands and as soon as I walk into a space with a straight couple the dude will do one or more of the following things:

- Grab her in an aggressive or sexual manner where he knows I can see

- Glare at me with his jaw clenched so hard he looks like he's gonna implode

- Visibly straighten his back and puff out his chest to make himself seem bigger like some weird testosterone fueled pufferfish

- Go immediately from talking out loud to whispering in his partner's ear

- Or just straight up is transphobic/homophobic/says slurs at me because he thinks it will impress her

Like I am genuinely curious because bro we are just in the waiting room at the doctors office or in line at the auto shop. What could possibly be going through his mind?! "OH no! A masculine presenting person who is stylish and in touch with their feminine side I can't let my girlfriend get too close or she will realize not all people smell like that and I actually just haven't washed my ass for our entire relationship"

tonight i am thinking about how in middle school admin hired a special sex ed teacher to do our lessons and in the section about gender and sexuality she put the whole LGBTQIA2SP acronym up onscreen and explained to us how hard this is far too hard to use as nobody could remember all the letters (I can, it isn’t that hard) and how we should replace the acronym with SOGIE to be more respectful. i’m sorry ma’am but there is no way you’re getting an established community to change our name to something that sounds nearly indistinguishable from “soggy” just because you have trouble knowing what all those letters mean and can’t be assed to just write LGBT+

Coming Soon: Gay and Lesbian Book Lists

After struggling to find any book lists that weren’t drowned in LGBTQIA2SP+++ genderspeak, which included books about straight people that was somehow still labeled “queer”, I decided to work on my own lists that hopefully can be shared widely.

I feel bad for the gay and lesbian kids who are growing up now. When they go to the “LGBTQIA+” shelf only to find stories about gender non-conforming kids like themselves transitioning, it truly is anti-gay, conversion therapy propaganda. So I need to do something to fix that.

I need advice from my fellow trans, genderqueer, and nonbinary communities, maybe some of our elders (if you are still alive on tumblr) can pipe in.

Hi does anyone else have a really awful time with people checking your ID at clubs or the liquor store because the past 3 times I have gone somewhere where they had to check my ID the people always ask me a million questions about myself and ask me to pull my mask down because I "dont look like the name on my ID". Once I was even turned away from a liquor store and they refused to sell to me because the cashier was convinced I was a teenage boy that had stolen my moms ID to buy booze. I am tired, and on several occasions I have thought it to be easier to go without the things I want so I dont have to have those interactions with people. Anyone have advice? What do I do? I wanna go about getting my name changed but I dont know the process or have the money. Maybe there are behavioral changes I can make when I go to a place where I use my ID or maybe theres social queues I can learn that will help.

I just wanna exist without cis people being fucking weird about it, ya know?
