So I have to write a press release about a crisis for a fictional organization and I'm allowed to be as unrealistic as I want so long as its in AP format and I show off my crisis communication skills. I am basically treating this as a chance to write fanfic but I don't know what organization to chose so Tumblr gets to pick

As a Watchmen hater (on a social level, the story itself is good), OP absolutely COOKED. Something that I love about JLU specifically is the willingness to supply a giant robot to punch. I once heard somebody tell me that superheroes aren't about punching the giant robot, but it's about punching the giant robot that's a representation for famine or poverty. Comics are inherently a kind of silly medium, and I think that JLU doing the Brainiac twist is genius on a social level.
Maybe I'm reaching here, but I think that the twist might be indicative of the continually growing "comics are dumb" mindset that was growing more and more post the release of Watchmen. I admit that I'm partially talking entirely out of my ass here, but I think that JLU was trying to say that maybe superheroes, at their core, are as simple as can be. We can complexify them as much as we want. We can make the giant robot represent anything. But, at their core, it's going to be a person in tights lifting a car and threatening corrupt landlords. Even in its complexity, it should be straightforward.
The more I'm writing this, the more I'm realizing that I should've made this post be about how JLU Question is an anti-Rorschach, but, I digress. I think the Brainiac twist itself is still a statement. So, I'll make that a separate post if you want.
It occurred to me a while back that Question’s attempt to kill Lex Luthor in Justice League Unlimited reads like a thematic inversion of the end of Rorschach’s arc from Watchmen.
Rorschach is a morally rigid, self-righteous paranoiac who chooses to force Manhattan to kill him because he’s the only superhero unwilling to compromise his deontological principles to stave off Armageddon; this is treated as the work’s final blow against traditional superheroics, as they simply aren’t capable of addressing situations of this complexity. The Question, meanwhile, is a self-aware paranoiac who also concludes that traditional superheroics can’t address or survive the situation at hand- except that he likes that paradigm despite falling somewhat outside of it himself, so he decides exploit his established reputation as a fringe crackpot in order to fall on the sword on the behalf of all other superheroes by killing Luthor to defuse the Justice Lords scenario, martyring himself to keep the flame alive instead of as a last desperate spasm.
And of course he proceeds to immediately get nailed to the wall because like Rorschach, he wildly misjudged the trajectory of the story he was in but in the other direction- Luthor’s running a much more traditional supervillain scheme than The Question assumed he was, and this does, in fact, turn out to be the kind of story where you can resolve the problem with traditional two-fisted violence against a giant space robot.

Wonder how many watch lists my search history just put me on after spending two hours googling so I could make Lex Luthor's tech realistic and terrifying all for a fanfiction that involved Connor Kent getting his back broken by Tim Drake.

another Tim Drake centered fic, but with Kon included this time
‘ 10 year old Timothy Drake drowns during a family outing on the Drake Yacht’, is what the headline read. Poor Timmy Drake had wandered out of his parents sight and fell overboard after taking off his life jacket, his body never found, his parents devastated. The six year old newspaper is crushed in the fist that had held it, crumpled under the fury that radiated from the reader. Timothy Drake did not drown. He was sold by his parents when he was 10, and ended up in the clutches of CADMUS, where after years of torture he escaped after finding a new friend there. “ You alright Tim? Ready to head out?” Called the voice of another teen behind him. “ Im good Kon, and yeah I’m ready. Time to raise hell.”
Or Two teens bonded by their thirst for vengeance against those who tortured and wronged them, as well as having only one another to rely on become the worlds newest super villain team.

Can’t speak for them, but I definitely agree with Clancy Brown being one of, if not the, best Lex’s.
Other two for me would be Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) and, of all the surprises, Jon Cryer (CW Supergirl).

Clark having an "in" with Superman would be a really good cover for his secret ID because half the people around him have it legit work like that. Action Comics 550

Keeping up with the Waynes
Vicky Vale, on TV in car: Ladies and Gentlemen, breaking news! Genius billionaire and President of the United States, Lex Luthor, has disappeared from the White House following an evacuation order due to high radiation levels near the grounds. The abduction happened between 4:00 and 6:00 in the afternoon, and since then, a nationwide search has begun for the president. Authorities believe him to be somewhere south of Washington D.C., and advises all citizens to be aware that this is a national emergency...
Me, passenger princessing: Wow. Who knew the President would go missing?
Jason, driving: I know. It's almost like you did a Lex Luthor hate post and people took it an ran.
Me: I know. I'm so awesome.
Jason: You are.
Me: Awww, thanks, babe! That's so sweet! Taki?
Jason: Honey, both you and I hate Takis with a passion.
Me: They were in the cabinet when I grabbed snacks. Must be Damian's.
Jason: Oh, yeah. Do we have any more Rice Krispies?
Me: Oh, yeah, I think so.
*Groan*
Jason: Oop, Luthor's waking up.
Me: Enchthesn.
Lex Luthor (The President): *falls asleep*
Jason: Just wait until Dad figures out we kidnapped him.
Me: Tim drugged him and everyone else is on board.
Jason: Nice.
*Silence*
Jason: We should steal the Declaration of Independence.
Me: THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!
Jason: I KNOW, RIGHT?

I love the symmetry that John Henry Irons was introduced as a mysterious character on Superman & Lois that everyone was assuming was Lex Luthor in a suit of armour for most of the first season, until the truth was revealed.
And now at the end of the show, the actual Lex Luthor has arrived and stolen that armour for himself.
It's one of those "full circle" moments that hit so good in a final season.

Bruce: How can you afford this on a reporters salary?
Clark: Oh Lex owes me child support.
Bruce: What?
Clark: Yeah, any damage Kon causes as superboy I mark as “after school activities.”
