Leverage 3x06
Aimee? Eliot episode, I see.
No wait, not Aimee. Eliot just has a type, I suppose. 🙄
Oh god, even I've seen some version of that particular music video.
Agreed, Sophie.
Oh Parker.
Hardison probably could, though?
(I know, very different animal from classical violin.)
Oh fuck you dude.
Oh god the outfits. And Sophie's sunglasses!
Ooh, nice, Parker! Very well shot, too. Love it.
I mean, of course. Think I've heard of this one, too.
Aw, Eliot. It'll be fine. ❤
Parker flits right into his space and startles him. I don't think pretty much anyone else could have avoided getting hurt.
Confirmation that under normal circumstances Parker cannot startle him because he's always aware of her? 🤔
Also another confirmation that he snaps when he's worried or nervous.
(I mean, sometimes he's just a grumpy ass, but y'know.)
Darth Eliot. 😂
Yeah, we know what Auto-Tune is. Not exactly new technology or a state secret at this point.
Come on, Nate, just let the man call Eliot 'baby' if he wants to, universally or otherwise. It's not like Eliot is objecting. Another little OT3 seed or just Nate being a prick? Both?
Well, girl, that's one way to do it, certainly. 😏
Ooh, she played him a little, I like her.
Of course he doesn't require pitch correcting, of course not.
Aw, Parker likes it.
Go, baby! You did good. ❤
Hmm, haven't heard him sing in a hot minute. 20 years or so.
Okay, that's probably deserved. 🤭
He really is adorably tender kisser, aww. ❤ Can he just kiss Parker and/or Hardison like that next? No?
Well, that was fast. 😂
Lucky for Nate, though. Honestly, though... in the middle of a con? I know she reminds you of Aimee but c'mon.
What'd I just say about people startling Eliot?
Oh my god. 😂
Also, what'd I say earlier about the risks of putting Eliot in the spotlight? 😂
Oofff, gun show. 👀
Who wrote these lyrics, though? New moon doesn't shine through anything. 🤨
Boys, come on now.
Parker to the rescue. 💛🪿
Is this guy supposed to remind us of Blake Shelton, or are these guys just a dime in a dozen?
Wait, did he just try to perform that song as his own literally a few days max. after "Kenneth Crane" did? In the same damn venue? 🤨
Aw, poor Eliot. You can't go home again and all that. It'll be okay. ❤

Love that Parker is absolutly unable to play a role who just behaves as an average neurotypical human being. But the moment she needs to play a super excentric character she just nailes it 110%

So, The Studio Job (3x06)
1) This is gotta be one of my favourite episodes so far.
2) CHRISTIAN KANE CAN SING????? VERY GOOD????????? He's a man of many talents!
3) PARKER AND HARDISON IN THOSE WEIRDASS OUTFITS. I cackled so loud man, my ribs hurt.
4) And Eliot and Hardison fighting like an old married couple in the recording room, it was hilarious.
5) You know what else was hilarious? Eliot fighting inside the silent recording room while Parker and Hardison had small talk right outside, completely unaware.
6) Just an all around great episode.

I have very little evidence for this theory but gonna throw it out there anyway:
The Frozen Hearts Killer was referencing the Road Back when he spoke about there being something Nancy didn’t understand. After all, it seems like the police made very little progress in years and this was a high profile case involving the FBI, not some crime left unsolved by the police department of a coastal town. It would make sense if he had the help from a powerful party.
And from a story telling perspective, Temperance and Bess seem to be setting out on an attempt to restart the Women in White, so the Road Back rising from the woodwork to try and make a move would make sense given their past animosity.
We know the Road Back has killers on their payroll too so it wouldn't be out of the question. I can imagining them sending their killer purposefully out to kill the Matthew Burke (the man in the tent) due to his interest in the Hudsons. Maybe it wasn't Ryan or Nancy he was interested in, rather it was the death of Celia and that he suspected Ryan might have been the one to cross the Road Back and caused the death. He certainly seemed interested in the Icarians as well as the Hudsons. Maybe he wasn’t following Temperance Hudson but rather his whole investigation is into the Road Back. And they sent the Frozen Heart Killer after him because of it. Then the Road Back told him to linger around town, purposefully trying to get Nancy’s attention because the Road Back would have been able to work out from the timings of what happened that Nancy is the most likely person the deal was made for so setting a serial killer loose on her town might have been an intended distraction to keep her from further investigating the Road Back.
Also underground prison (mentioned in the 3x06 synopsis) being linked to the Frozen Hearts Killings? It suggests he had someone with a great deal of influence linked to him who was able to buy up a large amount of property at a time where people wouldn't pay much attention to what was being build - say the time the Icarians are about.
All this leads me to the question - how much did Daniel West tell the Road Back? Because they knew the list was intended to go to them. They knew Daniel West had made a move on their behalf and Celia blocked it. It suggests Daniel West at least made contact about getting hold of the list. To me the most obvious time for the call would be when he has Ace. He would have his guarantee that he would get the list, (has half an hour to kill) and would also be aware that he just kidnapped the son of a cop and that the moment he hands Ace over he has no leverage and the cops could swarm over him. It makes sense that he would call them the moment his victory is assured (so he doesn't end up failing them which seems like it might not be a fun thing to do) and ask to arrange a meeting place so he can easily disappear into the care of the Road Back and not have to worry about trying to contact them when he is a wanted man.
This turned into a bit of a ramble. If you can make sense out of it, congratulations. Just throwing out my thoughts on a possible theory really.

Dark Greetings this Spooky Season Ms. V. Can we get a list of your favorite Halloween movies and specials? I know you have seen *everything* and I am trying to go beyond my usual rewatches this holiday month.
V. AIMMYARROWSHIGH’S CRITERIA FOR HALLOWEEN EPISODES
Does the Halloween element combine convincingly with the usual universe of the show (ex: Lizzie McGuire 2x09 “Those Freaky McGuires” is not good as a Halloween episode because it changes the rules of the Lizzie McGuire universe, whereas Community 2x06 “Epidemiology” is a GREAT Halloween episode because it manages to logically introduce zombies to the regular Community universe)?
Does the Halloween element advance the plot of the episode/series (ex: the reason Boy Meets World 5x17 “And Then There Was Shawn” is literally the best Halloween episode ever made is that it uses the horror movie tropes it satirizes to provide a CRUCIAL turning-point to the plot of the show)?
Is the Halloween episode in the forefront enough that it’s clearly a holiday episode (ex: HAVING ONE JACK-O’LANTERN ON A DESK DOES NOT A HALLOWEEN SPECIAL MAKE, LAW & ORDER 16x03 “GHOSTS”! You gotta go ALL-IN, like Bob’s Burgers 3x02 “Full Bars”!)?
Does the Halloween theme balance well between spooky and warm-n-fuzzy (ex: Criminal Minds 11x21 “Mr. Scratch” is too fucking bleak, but Criminal Minds 12x06 “Elliott’s Pond” has a joyous/celebratory tone to the ending despite being a genuinely scary episode)?
Is it generally a well-written, acted, and designed episode of television (ex: Saved by the Bell! 3x26 “Mystery Weekend” is seriously, not exaggerating, the worst thing I’ve ever watched in my life; Psych 1x15 “Scary Sherry, Or Bianca’s Toast” is a triumph of the medium)?
THE BEST, bar none, Halloween special ever made is Boy Meets World 5x17, “And Then There Was Shawn.” Period. There can be no argument, except MAYBE Community 3x06, “Epidemiology,” but I like “And Then There Was Shawn” better because the parody and homage as less… biting? And because I think it continues and addresses the emotional core of the regular BMW season better than “Epidemiology” does for Community s3. “Epi” DOES plant the seed (…heh) for the Season 3B major plot arc of Shirley’s pregnancy and Chang Deciding To Murder, but it gets some major minus points for mocking Yvette Nicole Brown’s weight with other characters’ responses to her costume, tbh. And “And Then There Was Shawn” is just fucking iconic. It is THE Halloween episode manual, IMO, if there were to be a textbook on how to write a perfect Halloween episode for your sitcom.
HOWEVER, I also have to give major props to Bob’s Burgers and Psych, as complete series, for their CONSISTENTLY excellent Halloween episodes. A lot of series that have multiple Halloween eps really phone it in after one or two, because they don’t have any more ideas for how to incorporate Halloween pastiches while maintaining the overall feeling of the series (tbh B99, while the Halloween Heists are excellent in general, is/has been coming very close to this line, and I think that if they HADN’T had to switch out the Heist to Cinco de Mayo in s6, they would have jumped their Heist Shark [and I think they know it, too, because it was lampshaded in the episode itself]) or they just straight-up don’t have any more ideas for what or how to have the characters they’re bound to parody or pay homage to a Halloween thing after they’ve already done one or two. And let’s be real: those one or two have probably been either The Shining or Rear Window, because those are pretty much the two that every show starts with.
Bob’s manages to make every Halloween episode feel very fresh and organic to the series, which I think they do have some leeway to do because of the nature of cartoons keeping the Belchers living a kind of loop of never aging, yk, but amazingly they’ve only done the “Tina feels too old to trick or treat, maybe? Nope, she’s not 14 yet, so there’s still time!” thing in a way that felt tropey once (in 3x02 Full Bars). They’ve been able to address Tina being 13/in 8th grade, and worrying about it being almost too late for her to keep trick or treating, in ways that were in-character and added to the overall episode in 4x02 Fort Night, 5x02 Tina and the Real Ghost, and 9x04 Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street, without me rolling my eyes at the screen and going “TINA, EVERY SINGLE SHOW WITH A TWEEN IN IT HAS ALREADY DECIDED THAT THE AGE AT WHICH YOU MUST STOP TRICK OR TREATING IS FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, COME ON NOW” which… at this point, is a Feat. Because like, I’ve POSTED over a thousand Halloween episodes, right? But I’ve watched and screencapped ::checks folder:: 3,905 Halloween episodes since 2014. Which is, um, a. lot. The ACTUAL BEST Bob’s Burgers Halloween episode is 6x03, “The Hauntening,” which is just… achingly perfect television. I know I’ve posted about it before (probably a couple times tbh) but the way that it aired originally back-to-back with The Simpsons 27x04, “Halloween of Horror,” so that the evening of Sunday cartoons juxtaposed eight-year-old Louise whose family worked so hard to scare her like she wanted with nine-year-old Lisa’s family working so hard to keep her from being too scared and make sure that she felt safe… reader, I FUCKIN CRIED. Little girls being deeply loved while also Spoopy Things!!!!!! IS WHAT HALLOWEEN SPECIALS ARE!!! FUCKIN!!!!!! ABOUT!!!!!!!
Psych, though, has the benefit of not really having any, like… central tone to the series? Beyond “friendship” and “having fun with joking,” tbh? So it’s able to do what a lot of series get docked “points” for in my Foolproof Halloween Special Ratings System That Is Completely Subjective To My Tastes And Mood, which is really just run full-tilt into parody and homage without really worrying about overall tonal connection to the rest of the season or series. 1x15, “Scary Sherry, or, Bianca’s Toast,” while it DOES fall victim to the way-too-common Halloween episode trap of making mental hospitals into a Scary Thing (they are a medical normality and a necessary thing for health for many people and should not be feared), is delightful Spooky Fun AND has the benefit of having Shannon Woodward in it.* We all know by now that if an episode of any show has Shannon Woodward as the guest star, it will by default end up being one of the best, if not THE best, episodes of that series. It’s just how having Shannon Woodward as your guest star rolls. I also really like, with Psych’s Halloween episodes, that quite a few of them understand the underlying thematic scope of Horror, which is “The Monstrous Feminine Is A Thing And All Horror Tropes Are Actually About Women’s Interior Lives Because Men Can’t Write Women And Fear Women Always,” yk, in a way that is neither TOO Actual Horror, which I am too afraid of to Do, or too trite and demeaning, which is the other basic trap that Halloween stuff falls into A Lot. Like, Scary Sherry is very much about women villainizing other women, avenging other women, and being in very specifically-female pain, even though Shawn & Gus are still the lens through which we solve the mystery, and so are 4x04 The Devil Is In The Details And The Upstairs Bedroom and 6x03 This Episode Sucks. But they give their Monstrous Females dignity and breadth, which is impressive, ESPECIALLY since they’re one-off guest characters. Also, 3x15 Tuesday the 17th is just plain funny and well-done, like, just give it props for the title alone.
*(Speaking of Shannon Woodward, another amazingly good Halloween episode is Raising Hope 4x07, “Murder, She Hoped,” which is among my very favorite Rear Window homage episodes and has probably the funniest gag in ANY Rear Window ep, in Martha Plimpton floating across the screen in the Grace Kelly silk nightgown and peignoir and announcing that it was on sale at Walmart, can you believe?! and honestly, yes. Perfection.)
Also excellent:
• The Addams Family (1991) + Addams Family Values (1993) • Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School (RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU WERE GAY FOR SIBELLA AS A CHILD!) • Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost (RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE GAY BECAUSE THE HEX GIRLS!) • Halloweentown + Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge • Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire! • Z•O•M•B•I•E•S (to a lesser extent, Z•O•M•B•I•E•S 2) • Clue (1985) • Coraline • Corpse Bride • 6teen 2x00 Dude of the Dead • Arthur 21x00 Arthur and the Haunted Treehouse • Lamb-Chop in the Haunted Studio • Arthur 8x04A Fern-kenstein's Monster • Arthur 10x02 The Squirrels • WandaVision 1x06 The All-New Halloween Spooktacular (I KNOW YOU, SPECIFICALLY, DEAR @plavoptice, HATE MCU!WANDA AND I DON'T BLAME YOU, YOUR REASONS ARE VERY VALID! But this is a good Halloween special so I'm putting it on my list In General.) • Boy Meets World 2x06 Who's Afraid of Cory Wolf? • Ghostbusters (2016) • Gravity Falls 1x12 Summerween • Leverage 4x02 Ten L'il Grifters Job • The Loud House 2x40 Tricked! • Mockingbird Lane 1x00 Unaired Pilot • It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! (Classic, etc.)
I'm SURE I'm forgetting some that I'll rewatch this year myself. I'm a big Halloween Baking Championship fan, tbh, which is on Discovery+ now so I recommend that if you like mostly-relaxing nice people baking cakes that look like bats and such.
I'm also IMMENSELY INTENSELY EXCITED for The Muppets' Haunted Mansion on Disney+ next week!!!

Shiro’s Second Amputation
Shiro’s Second Amputation
The character design for Shiro includes him with a prosthetic arm. Interviews with executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery have revealed that the reason they initially gave Shiro a prosthetic arm was because they thought it looked “cool.” They seem to have put no thought into what it would mean to a person to have an amputation.
Shiro is captured by the Galra at the beginning of the show and then a little later in the first episode returns to Earth a year later, now with his arm amputated and a prosthetic made of Galra technology. The closest we ever get to any exploration of what it meant to Shiro to lose an arm is a very brief line of dialog at the beginning of 2x03 “Shiro’s Escape,” in which Shiro, in flashback, yells, “You took my hand, what more do you want?” We have no other information about his amputation. Was his arm injured during gladiatorial combat, making it a medical necessity to amputate? Haggar says to Shiro in 1x13 “The Black Paladin, “You could have been our greatest weapon,” so was his arm cut off as part of an experiment she was subjecting him to?
Ultimately, whatever the reason was for the amputation and addition of the Galra prosthetic, the show never tells us. But this is the amputation that everyone already knows about.
Shiro was subjected to a second amputation.
This is something that has infuriated me for a long time, and I’ve never seen anyone else talk about this in any of the Voltron discourse I’ve read.
In season seven, Shiro gets a new prosthetic to replace the Galra one that Keith cut off. I have never liked his new arm. The forearm is lot wider than a natural arm. The disembodied, floating quality makes it vulnerable to disruption (we saw Sendak’s arm be disrupted by Pidge passing her bayard between the shoulder and the arm in 1x07 “Tears of the Balmera”). With the big gap between the shoulder and the arm, the arm lacks the ability to provide leverage, thus something like Shiro arm-wrestling in 8x08 “Clear Day” is impossible. I would think that it would take a lot more power to maintain the disembodied hovering quality of the new prosthetic than it would take to operate a more normal arm. The design and function of the new arm does not seem reasonable to me.
But what makes the new prosthetic worse is Shiro’s shoulder. To implant the shoulder piece of this prosthetic, they amputated Shiro’s shoulder.
Shiro’s Galra prosthetic always looked like it connected to his arm halfway up his bicep. Because of the second, floating prosthetic, sometimes I thought maybe I had misinterpreted the visual design of the Galra prosthetic, that maybe the prosthetic was his whole arm. I couldn’t remember any time where we got to see him without sleeves to know for sure. I learned for sure that I was right that Shiro’s Galra prosthetic only went halfway up the bicep when I did my rewatch and commentary for 3x06 “Tailing a Comet.” In this episode, there is a scene in which we see Shiro (technically the clone) wearing a white tank top. His shoulder is flesh and the prosthetic is not his whole arm.
To have the shoulder implant that he gets in 7x10 “Heart of the Lion,” the rest of his arm and his shoulder would have to be amputated. I would think it would be unethical for a doctor to do this unless it was medically necessary. No medical need to amputate the rest of the arm and the shoulder is given in the show. Narratively, there is no reason that Shiro’s new arm needed to be this disembodied floating absurdity. But I guess once again, the EPs thought it would look “cool,” because they decided to go with this design.
One of two things happened in the process of this new character design work.
One, the EPs and design team realized that they would have to amputate the rest of Shiro’s arm and shoulder and thought having animation inconsistency that they hoped no one would notice was better than having people criticize them for having Shiro amputated a second time, so they had Shiro slightly redesigned from the moment Keith cuts off his arm to when he gets his new prosthetic.
The second possibility is that when they had their design team do the slight character redesign for the moment Keith cuts off the clone’s arm, neither the EPs nor the design team were aware of past work-product and did not remember that the show had shown us that the clone clearly had a flesh shoulder and part of the upper arm. Maybe designing the clone for the moment Keith cuts his arm off, the design team made an honest, though inexcusable, mistake.
Either way, the instant Keith cuts off the clone’s arm in 6x05 “The Black Paladins,” suddenly, the upper arm and the shoulder are metal.
This second amputation is a retcon, a visual redesign. Whether it was done specifically because the new prosthetic design had been approved and they didn’t want to be criticized for amputating Shiro’s shoulder, or whether it was done because they didn’t pay attention to what the show had already established, one way or the other Shiro went from having a flesh and bone shoulder and upper arm, to not.
The way the production of this show treated Shiro, they just could not stop inflicting additional pain and suffering on him. If all the other ways the EPs and writers abused Shiro’s character didn’t also reveal this, we could know solely from the EPs saying that they chose to amputate him and give him the prosthetic because it looked “cool.” Since they never understood the impact being amputated would have on a person, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that they amputated Shiro a second time to have the second prosthetic. I will never not find it horrifying that they did this to him.
