sometimes i think about how eliot spencer in any other font would be such an annoying character. like he's the gruff, ex-military, man pain guy who gets all the girls. and then they said no! he's a thoughtful and kind man who children love and who has an absolutely mind-obliterating insane amount of ptsd. and he's got long hair, jewelry, and probably some sort of pronouns situation. and he's almost certainly in a sort of queerplatonic throuple with an adhd genius and the most autistic woman(?) alive. what a character

okay so everyone already knows what makes leverage the best™ (working together as equals, all bringing their best traits, openly acknowledging that they are a family, having unique and flawed characters that aren’t trying to “fix” each other, etc) but my fav thing is how in awe Nate is of Sophie (he is her biggest fan) and how chill everyone is with it like when he’s all “that’s my girl!” and “what can I say, she’s the best” everyone else simply agrees or when Eliot thinks Hardison’s tech is actually pretty cool and tells him because they’re all so supportive of each other have i mentioned how much i love this show????

it's been said before, but leverage season two really is a masterclass of writing around a lead actress' pregnancy. they knew they'd have to give her time off for maternity leave, so they set up a character development plot line near the start of the season which was a natural direction for the character to go based on how she'd already been written. then for the first several episodes leading up to her leave, film her from the chest up or show her back, with only some reliance on loose shirts and large jackets. have her character's development/crisis require her to take time off for herself, but write small scenes that can easily be pre-recorded, so she's never actually gone from the show. then let her return.

it's a great combination of understanding the character, being able to plan good plots ahead of the time, and not being so misogynistic that you resent actors for getting pregnant.
