These are the natural color of the space in this Hindu Temple. Her natural white hair and her position was filled with so much sincerity.

I was working on a project (not photography) in relation to Hinduism for a religious studies class. I only had my smart phone (anti-iPhone lol).

Precursor of Christ in birth and death

As forerunner of our Lord’s birth, preaching and death,

the blessed John showed in his struggle a goodness worthy of the sight of heaven.

In the words of Scripture:

Though in the sight of men he suffered torments,

his hope is full of immortality.

We justly commemorate the day of his birth with a joyful celebration,

a day which he himself made festive for us through his suffering and which he adorned with the crimson splendour of his own blood.

We do rightly revere his memory with joyful hearts, for he stamped with the seal of martyrdom the testimony which he delivered on behalf of our Lord.

There is no doubt that blessed John suffered imprisonment and chains as a witness to our Redeemer, whose forerunner he was,

and gave his life for him.

His persecutor had demanded not that he should deny Christ, but only that he should keep silent about the truth.

Nevertheless, he died for Christ.

Does Christ not say:

I am the truth?

Therefore, because John shed his blood for the truth,

he surely died for Christ.

Through his birth, preaching and baptizing,

he bore witness to the coming birth, preaching and baptism of Christ,

and by his own suffering he showed that Christ also would suffer.

Such was the quality and strength of the man who accepted the end of this present life by shedding his blood after the long imprisonment.

He preached the freedom of heavenly peace,

yet was thrown into irons by ungodly men;

he was locked away in the darkness of prison,

though he came bearing witness to the Light of life and deserved to be called a bright and shining lamp by that Light itself,

which is Christ.

John was baptized in his own blood, though he had been privileged to baptize the Redeemer of the world,

to hear the voice of the Father above him,

and to see the grace of the Holy Spirit descending upon him.

But to endure temporal agonies for the sake of the truth was not a heavy burden for such men as John;

rather it was easily borne and even desirable,

for he knew eternal joy would be his reward.

Since death was ever near at hand through the inescapable necessity of nature,

such men considered it a blessing to embrace it and thus gain the reward of eternal life by acknowledging Christ’s name.

Hence the apostle

Paul rightly says:

You have been granted the privilege not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for his sake.

He tells us why it is Christ’s gift that his chosen ones should suffer for him:

The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed in us.

God our Father,

you appointed St John the Baptist to be the herald of the birth and death of Christ your Son.

Grant that as he died a martyr for justice and truth, so we also may courageously bear witness to your word.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Let us praise the Lord.

It has been a while... (March 18, 2020)

Lately, everyone has been hiding away and quarantining as the coronavirus is taking over almost every part of the world. During this time of uncertainty and helplessness, there is no one to rely on. No one to turn to for help other than Our Father God.

Tonight, I have been listening to Breathe by Michael W. Smith during my quiet time with the LORD. 

The lyrics go “ This is the air I breathe. This is the air I breathe. Your holy presence living in me. This is my daily bread. This is my daily bread. Your very word spoken to me. And I I’m desperate for you. And I I’m I’m lost without you.”

As I hear this, I am reminded of how much we are desperate for God and how much we are lost without Him. Perhaps this virus happened because we all need to refocus our lives and put the LORD in the center. Perhaps it is for us to realize just how much we need God in our lives. All this time, we thought our lives were going in the right direction. Because we have our basic necessities and more, we thought we could figure things out on our own. Particularly, I am convicted because I thought this technologically advanced world could immediately find the solution to this fast spreading virus. I am humbled and reminded that we, humans, have no power. No matter how much the world advances, that does not mean we will ever stop needing God. 

In the end, we really are incapable of doing anything on our own. Nothing is in our control. Our God is sovereign. And thank God He is because we really do not know what we are doing. I am convicted of thinking that we, humans, could function without Our Everlasting Father.

So, may we all come together in prayer in this difficult time. Let us remind ourselves that no one can truly save us. Jesus has won the battle and allowed us to be reunited with the Father. Matthew 7:7-8 says “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” So, let us repent our sins and ask God for help in this times of trouble. Let us reach out to Him who cares so much for His children. Let us not be afraid for the battle has already been won.

Today at 2PM the church will be meeting with Dwight Middle School. This is an attempt to bring support and Faith to its campus. This is huge. This is not a small meeting. We at Expanse believe that if God is in, school shootings, drugs and violence will be out. Pray for God to move, pray for DMS, pray for the church and pray for me. PLEASE. The kingdom is suffering violence and there is no better time than now for those who fearlessly love God to take back our schools and our freedoms.
