Does anyone else remember Diglett's Cave from the Let's Find Pokémon books in 2000? I still have the first 3 books, and this was one of my fave pages because of how mazelike the tunnels are! Comment below if this gives you major nostalgia! https://pokehexdex.wordpress.com/0050/01/01/diglett/

hermitcraft au concept:
one day, pearl wakes up with very little memory of herself and discovers, to her shock, that she's now a pokemon! she may not remember much, but she's pretty sure she was a human and not a rockruff before that day. her day gets worse when, suddenly, a sinkhole opens under the path pearl had been walking on! luckily, a formantis named gem fell with her, and together they fight their way out of the mystery dungeon that had formed in the sunken hole.
pearl is delighted by how well they work together, and even more delighted to realize that gem is new in-town too (even if gem is baffled at the idea that humans are real, let alone that pearl may have once been one). apparently, gem is moving to hermit hollow to try to join up with the rescue teams there, and since pearl has nowhere else to go, perhaps they'll form a rescue team together!
however, all is not well. there are more mystery dungeons opening around the world, just like the sinkhole that nearly ate pearl. indeed, there's something strange happening: according to rumors across the pokemon world, the moon is slowly, bit by bit, getting closer to the planet, and that's what's causing mystery dungeons to become so frequent. rescue teams are trying their best to find out the cause, and if they can't, to awaken and get the help of the legendary pokemon lunala, who is said to have a connection to the moon. surely, if they can find that pokemon, they can save the world--
--hey wait. why does this all sound very... familiar... to pearl?
well. she's sure it's nothing. after all, what are the odds this is the second time she's heard something as ridiculous as the moon causing catastrophes across a planet?
that'd just be silly.
besides, she's got some rescuing to do with hew new oddly familiar friend! this should be fun!

The adaptations of/canonical stories of games with multiple playable protagonists should focus on both. I adore Yokai Watch but the anime did Katie so fucking dirty and, by proxy, her and Nate's friendship. In the games, they feel like genuine friends who run in the same circle. But not in the anime, and I'm upset because they totally could've had them BOTH be the protagonists who are given watches and made to interact with the world and each other in a unique way to the games but instead Katie's just this girl Nate has a crush on with a tiring joke about him being average. They don't even feel like friends in the show, it feels like they have mutual friends in Bear and Eddie and that's how they run in the same circles. Boo.
