Okay I cannot shut up about RWBY but I got another idea. So y’all know the “Jaune” arc in v1? Otherwise known as “let’s focus entirely on Jaune and whether Cardin’s gonna turn him in to the Professor for forging his transcripts?” Well, what if it was a Ruby and Pyrrha arc?

Imagine: Pyrrha and Jaune are on the roof, right after the big confession. Pyrrha leaves and then the camera cuts to the kids walking outside, remarking about how long the classes ran that day. Cardin beckons Jaune over, and to everyone’s surprise, he actually listens. Ruby comments “Since when are they friends?” And everyone else shrugs. Cut to Ruby knocking on team JNPR’s door. Pyrrha opens it and is all “What a nice surprise! What can I do for you, Ruby?”

“You seem pretty close to Jaune, so I wanted to ask you something.”

“I do?” Pyrrha asks happily. “I mean, yeah, we’re teammates, and rooming together, I think I know him pretty well.”

Ruby hesitates. “Has he been acting…weird? Like the past couple of days?”

Pyrrha grabs her arm and drags her in. “Yes! I thought I might just be overreacting, but he’s been sneaking around and pulling away from us and I don’t know what to do-”

“Okay, okay!” Ruby holds her hands up. “He won’t tell me anything either. He always changes the topic.”

“So what do we do?”

Ruby smirks. “We make a plan.”

Cut to them at lunch, Jaune picking at his food. Ruby and Pyrrha have a silent conversation that everyone but Jaune notices. Yang says, “Something you two would like to share with the class?” Jaune starts paying attention as Ruby and Pyrrha make a series of awkward denials. Suddenly Jaune’s scroll goes off, and he fumbles it right off the table. Ruby sees the opportunity and tosses her scroll as well. She immediately grabs the scrolls off the ground, handing one to Jaune. She then makes a quick excuse about “remembering that she had an extra-credit class that would last a few hours so don’t try to get in touch with her okay bye!” and darts off in a cloud of rose petals. Jaune says a confused “Thanks?” and picks up the scroll. He stares at it for a few seconds, then sighs “This is Ruby’s scroll.”

Nora says, “Oh, bad luck.” Pyrrha face lights up.

Jaune starts, “Maybe I can catch her-”

“Oh don’t worry!” Pyrrha buts in “She said it’d only be a few hours! I’m sure we could keep you entertained until then!”

Jaune stands, tossing Ruby’s scroll to Yang. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve got a couple things to take care of anyways.”

When they’re in the forest, we don’t see Cardin talking to Jaune. Instead it’s Ruby and Pyrrha exchanging glances, sticking close to him. Pyrhha sees Jaune sneak away and follows him. Pyrrha’s not close enough to hear, but we see Cardin shove the jar into Jaune’s chest, then point at Velvet in the distance. Pyrrha looks sad, then determined. Then she extends her hand. It glows black, then the jar lid glows black for a moment. At this point we don’t know Pyrrha’s semblance yet, but we know she’s planning something. Then Jaune turns and throws it at Cardin. Pyrrha looks surprised, then smiles. We finally hear Jaune’s voice as he’s yelling at Cardin about how he won’t be a bully. The rest of the episode plays out the same, but Ruby and Pyrrha share a conspiratorial grin.

That night, Pyrrha and Ruby meet on the rooftop. They discuss what Ruby found in Jaune’s scroll, mainly just a series of demands from Cardin. They talk about why Jaune would be helping him out, and then fall silent. Then they hear Cardin’s voice drifting up from his window. Pyrrha realizes that he heard their conversation.

“He’s blackmailing Jaune!” she hisses.

“What?” Ruby whisper-yells. “What could he even have on Jaune?”

Pyrrha walks away from the ledge. “It’s bad, Ruby.”

“Worse than being Vomit Boy the first day of school? It’s not like he could get kicked out of Beacon.”

Pyrrha turns to Ruby with watery eyes.

“What did he do???” She yells.

“It’s a secret!” Pyrrha puts a finger to her lips.

“So what do we do?”

“The only thing we can do.” Pyrrha looks down. “We keep an eye on him.”

Or alternatively, Cardin does tell Ozpin about the transcripts. Pyrhha finds out Jaune got called into Ozpin’s office and darts up there. Pyrhha starts to make her case, but Ozpin cuts her off.

“It seems Cardin has been…rather crude in his interactions with his fellow students.” Ozpin takes a sip. “It does not surprise me that he would make up such a rumor.”

Jaune steps forward. “Actually, sir, it’s tru-”

“Even without the numerous statements from faunus students, we finally have video evidence of his bullying. And now he’s tried to discredit someone from the heroic Arc family. That should be enough for the disciplinary committee to take action.” He trails off. “But of course, if Cardin was speaking the truth, not only would I have to expel a promising young student, but it’s likely Cardin would face nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Even with hard evidence.” He takes another sip. “Sorry, Mr. Arc, I seem to have interrupted you. What was it you were saying?”

Jaune shares a look with Pyrrha, then clears his throat. “Nothing, sir.”

“Then you are dismissed, Mr. Arc. Have a good day.”

Jaune leaves for the elevator, while Pyrrha hangs back.

“Professor, did you already know?”

“Ms. Nikos, I make it a habit to know as much as I can. You’ll have to be more specific.” Ozpin smiles.

Pyrrha nods and smiles back. “Nevermind, sir.” and she joins Jaune in the elevator. Jaune’s legs shake and he collapses, making a crack about wishing he was back with the ursa.
