The new AU concept idea that you guys never knew you needed.

An AU where Black Hat is actually a decent father figure/guardian to Cuphead and Mugman.

I have so many headcanons and theories called “Reasons why Black Hat is the Worst Caretaker”. And it’s basically a list of ideas of why Hat was horrible to Cuphead and Mugman and a big cause for a lot of their trauma and problems. (Aside from the obvious owing their souls to the devil, fighting their childhood friends and the devil, going soulless for 6 months, and then making a new deal to only be ripped away from the their home and forced to kill into the mafia. Among other things. :)

So an AU where Black hat isn’t totally nice or anything, but maybe a bit more emotionally supportive and considerate. Doesn’t illegitimate their feelings and concerns. Training and pushing them not to make them stronger and to reach their full potential, but so that they don’t get hurt while working dangerous missions.

He wouldn’t be a really doting father, in anyway. Stars forbid Hat being that one soccer dad 🤢 Instead he’s just. Less of a jackass?

Congratulating them with their accomplishments (maybe in a tsundere way?). And giving them constructive criticism without being an ass about it. You know, when he’s all like: “Pitiful. Even an imp could kill this mafia family faster than that.” The kind of way that makes you want to slap him across the face? Yeah. That.

He gives them good advice on how to improve their skills and handle problems better.

I dunno. A guy can dream.

Fun fact, aside from Cuphead and Bendy, Hat is one of my favorite Inky Mystery characters! He’s so funny. And he’s such an ass and god Dr. Sprinkles makes me cackle! XDDDD

This is such a cursed AU imaging Hat being a decent person but cuss it I have so many angst filled AUs that for once I want something fluffy. This, College Dorm, and Good Ending are now probably my fluffiest AUs ngl. With Cyberpunk, Little Nightmares, and Villains probably being my angstiest.

an angle i enjoy in cosmic/eldritch horror is when, instead resorting to the old classic "the horrors being so incomprehensible that they break your brain and drive you mad" cliché, the premise is that in comprehending the horrors you are so changed by the experience that your new state is indistinguishable to an outside observer from madness. you comprehend the unknowable just fine, but actually communicating that to anyone else is impossible because they just don't have the mental framework required to understand it. the eldritch horrors don't drive you mad. what does is the ordinary everyday horror of finding yourself isolated, ridiculed and doubted at every turn, no matter how hard you try to make yourself heard and understood.

can we talk about how danny came away from that genuinely believing that it was cheating on a test that had made him evil, as if it were any more than just. the reason they were all at the nasty burger that day

i never know how to phrase it but something about the way beatles biographers and people in general view paul's reflexive placating persona and determination to smooth things over as manipulative or duplicitous and john's reflexive barbed persona and habit of lashing out as brave and subversive despite both being equally defensive mechanisms to shield themselves from the world that resulted in them saying things that weren't true says more about how we culturally view kindness or friendliness as inherently untrustworthy or flimsy and anger and carelessness as more believable as someone's true nature than it says about either of them in actuality

Being a batfam fan is funny because people will make a post like “here’s my headcanon-“ and it’s just something that’s directly canon to the story then post about major canon events and get everything wrong.

Another thing I hated in Season 2 is how often and explicity they call Vander "father". Sometimes it's more powerful to leave things unsaid, especially when they are perfectly understandable already. We know already that Vander (and Silco) were surrogate fathers to Vi and Jinx. You don't have to beat us over the head with it by having them call him father every time and even DAD💀

They did it very sparingly in Season 1 ("he's our father too" and "you're my daughter, I'll never forsake you"). The rest of the time it's left unsaid and packs much more of a punch because of it! Vi and Jinx also never directly refer to the men as "dad" or "father", they only ever call them their names. It's just another way that Season 1 was much more mature than Season 2. It had restraint that Season 2 didn't.

still fucking pissed about the way im being treated by my professor. she basically told me to my face that my trans experiences & opinions were too advanced and complicated for our class, & that she had to teach them the basics...

and what exactly are those basics? cis people. cis experiences. cis opinions. this is not intersectionality. "basic feminism" should not mean white cis feminism. & i feel like she is projecting onto my classmates, many of whom seem very interested in what I have to say. one cis boy in my class even tried raising questions about nonbinary people based on those in his life, and she shut him down because she refused to understand what he was talking about. she's just fucking obsessed with her idea of feminism while trying to feel like an intersectional ally yet the minute ANYONE brings up trans people when she doesn't want them to, she throws a little fit.

just. when exactly are cis people supposed to learn about us? i am used to having to explain transness to cis people. i am willing to do that! i am willing to simplify it if need be! but cis adults & older teens can handle being challenged a little bit. in fact I'd say it's pretty healthy for them to be introduced to trans theory as part of their introduction to feminism, especially in an age where transness is a major part of the ongoing culture war. but noooo god forbid this cis woman's ego is challenged in the slightest. god forbid i have an original thought about gender that i didn't get from her fucking textbook
