Regional specific pokemon (types and order not yet decided, can change on a whim)

huge list under cut. Just a list, no names either, just mainly ideas for me to reference later

Main Dex: Gulrimi? Sorigul? I'm thinking Sorigul as the Tauraro rename. Anyway, the region is the Gulf Coast of the USA, ranging from MS, Louisiana, a small portion of Texas, Alabama, and Florida. The dex is meant to be representative of the culture of my area while taking into account personal favorites AND other animals commonly found here. A LOT are found in my own yard, actually. The main outliers are the starters, which are to be a bit weird as they are both aliens from outer space and aliens from the region itself. The map itself would be based on the gulf coast tastes but upside down and with various exagerations, reimaginings, or redesigns, and you'd be able to go to a gym of each and every type- only requiring 2 mandatory gyms to beat (your first being Normal and your last being mixed). Story is a mixture of a gym challenge, stopping the evil team, aliens, temples, and other mysteries. You and your best friend are ordinary kids about to graduate from school, and you both promised each other years ago that one of you would become the champion to put your home town on the map. What should have been a fun adventure through several sub regions turns into a series of conspiracies as you work to uncover a plot from an evil team seeking to retake the region after failing to establish their regime years ago and after their "champion" lost, aliens invading, the re-emergence of long lost temples and ruins, portals opening to strange places, and drama, drama, drama. From farm kid to the hope of the world, can you save the home and friends you love dearly?

Armor evos- This region's gimmick. Pokemon can be given a fragment of armor to soft "evolve" into a new form that any of the line can access, and it can be undone to go back to the older form. While Armor Evolved, no EXP is gained until disengaged, and the states are basically redistributed from the BST of either its current evolved form or the next in line. While Armor Evolved, the Pokemon can learn moves based on the new types gained via TM or what it would have learned via that level (can be relearned). When disengaged, the moves are forgotten. Based on Armor Digivolving in case it's not obvious. Example: Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu can all evolve into the same Armor Evolutions. If Pichu, it has Pikachu's BST, if Pikachu, Raichu's. Raichu's remains the same. With the exception of the COSMIC armors, which is a story locked armor, all the armors have the same BST as their strongest forms. It's not quite Mega or regular evolving so much as it is a new form.

Dlc: Parts 1 and 2 can be completed in any order, but you should do all of part 1 in one sitting and 2 in another, and both can be completed before the main story, although it is reccomended you do both after. 3 can only be unlocked after beating the main story and both prior DLC's, and the final part after all the above. During each part, it is reccomended that you start with a new team- in part 3, it is mandatory. You should pick a starter and catch a team as if you're exploring a new region, although they will be sort of a "diet" region equivalent like Kitakami or Blueberry Academy.

Pt 1: Japanese abroad: a region loosely based on a reimagined areas maybe already represented in the games, such as Shibuya, Tokyo, Kyoto, and various shrines, forests, rivers, and even a beach. Can be reached as soon as you earn your 8th badge. Meant to be a summer abroad type program where you're being shown artificial armors and investigating traces of alien presences. You're given tickets to come with your rival and his girlfriend after they received one too many. Starters are 2 stage callbacks to the supposed concepts of the Kanto starters- similar in a way to how Unova did Golem/Gigalith, Sawk and Throh/Hitmonchan/lee, etc. Each area will have its own sizeable dex of new and old Pokemon. Below will simply be the newer ones.

Meant to be a summer getaway for you to relax and unwind, but things get trippy when ships and people go missing in the night, and the stories and sightings of some sort of monster deeper in the sea attracts attention. Aliens, perhaps. The area is also just a taste and not representative of the full potential of a fully fledged Bahamas based region. Starters are based on common animals one could find on a Beach or ocean based region, and indicative of its soon to be full regional status. more will be added eventually, dex will be a mix of land animals with the abundant sea life or otherwise.

DLC 3: Legends: Yesterday Interference The bad guy you once fought and beat at this point decides that if he can't conquer the region in THIS era, he'll simply do it in the past with the help of his ancestor. You follow him to Sorigul roughly 200 years in the past with the help of a strange Celebi, in the midst of the war that almost tore the region apart long ago. Starters are Chespin, Fuecoco, and Sobble, based on how the southern US had a large hand from France and Spain in being colonized as well as Britain. All three receive new evolutions after their base forms.

Prompt: Stu and his s/o go on a date to an aquarium and at the very end of the date before they leave he gets her a plushie from the gift shop and she always treasures it and keeps it close with her

Ahh I'm sorry its kinda long or doesn't make sense but your writing is always amazing and I always look forward to reading what you write!

Prompt: Going to the aquarium with Stu and he buys you a stuffed animal

Warnings: None

Stu’s favorite at the aquarium is the sharks. Why? Because I said so. I just have a feeling that he thinks sharks are cute and like giant sea puppies. Also thinks the jellyfish are neat to though because of how colorful they are and the way they just float around.

Before the two of you can leave though, he drags you into the gift shop where there’s a whole wall dedicated to stuffed animals. Most of them are sea creatures but of course there’s also a handful of penguins, otters, etc. Stu immediately begins looking at the sharks, where there’s a great white, hammerhead, and whale shark.

You don’t catch exactly which one he snatches up and he makes sure to hide it from you on the way home. He successfully stops your every attempt at snatching the bag or peaking inside of it to.

It’s not until you make it inside the house does he finally hand over the bag, which you playfully snatch away. “I had to come up with a good enough name for him before you could have him!”

You pull out the hammerhead as Stu proudly announces that his name is Fin, which makes you laugh. “It really took you all that time to come up with Fin?”

You keep the sharks on your bed at all times and cuddle with it every night. When Stu finds you one night fast asleep with your arms wrapped tightly around Fin he makes sure to take a picture. He’s touched that something so simple that he had given you could mean so much to you.

Stu also lovingly refers to him as “our son”. Whenever you’re away he watches over him, sending you pictures of the stuffed shark with him. Some of these have included he shark being tucked into bed, set on the counter with a plate of food in front of it, and even with Stu holding him while in costume with the caption “You don’t think I’m a bad influence on our kid, right?”

He has also become attached to the stuffed hammerhead.

The BAU goes to the Zoo

Morale around the office is low after several horrible cases back to back in the span of two weeks

Strauss forces the whole unit to take a few days off because of it

No one is happy about it though

Penelope pitches an idea for everyone to write down where they want to go and to decide, Hotch will draw an idea out of a hat

(He agrees only because he knows the team needs a break)

The first idea he pulls out is a strip club

He looks Emily dead in the eyes as he tosses out the paper

(she pouts because going to a strip club is definitely going to boost her morale so she really doesn’t see why Hotch is so pressed about her contribution)

The next paper Hotch pulls is the zoo

And because everyone knows the person that suggested it is Penelope, they all agree to head off to the National Zoo

Hotch and JJ are very well aware of the chaos that ensues when taking children to a zoo and premptively take Advil to deal with the inevitable headaches that will come from taking this group of federal agents children to the zoo

Emily is a little shit

She makes the “ps-ps-ps” noise to the tiger and is very smug when the giant cat comes right up to the glass

She turns to brag to Morgan about how she gets all the puss

JJ whacks her on the head with a rolled up map because there are children nearby, for godsake!

Emily gets chased around the aviary by a giant fucking bird, screaming and running around in frantic circles as it dives at her

JJ sighs off in the corner, pinching the bridge of her nose because she warned Emily about antagonizing the birds

Spencer mainly just stays silent the whole time, looking in awe at the animals

Derek keeps buying him $10 cotton candy and by the time the team are halfway through the zoo, Spencer is on the biggest sugar high of his life

He wants to pet the hippopotamus and nearly bursts into tears when Hotch tells him that he can’t because they’re too dangerous

He cries when he sees the pandas because they’re so cute

Derek seems bored but really he’s fascinated by the big cats and bears

He is not amused when the tiger comes bounding up to the glass when Emily calls it over (that is one of nature’s most fierce predators, not a damn house cat!)

When Hotch isn’t looking, he buys Spencer all sorts of sweets because it makes pretty boy happy

Rossi sits back and lets JJ and Hotch play parents for the day, enjoying himself as much as he can

He definitely encourages Emily to mess with the giant bird in the aviary

(In his defense, he didn’t think it would go after her so intensely, but his side hurts from laughing so hard watching her, so he doesn’t really care)

Mostly sits at the benches and watches people instead of the animals

Hotch becomes a mega dad™️

He attempts to set up a schedule for the team to follow (they don’t, of course)

His head is stuck in the map 80% of the time

Everytime he looks up, Spencer has some sort of sugary treat in his hands (seriously, who the hell keeps giving this kid more sugar???)

He tries to implement a ban on buying Spencer anymore treats but when he looks up from his map once more, the little shit has an ice cream cone

Ignores Emily’s shit for his own sanity

JJ really does try to enjoy herself

Her main focus is just making sure Emily doesn’t somehow wander into the grizzly bear enclosure or fight the sharks in the aquarium

She becomes annoyed halfway through the day and is enjoying herself significantly less because of Emily’s antics

Emily immediately becomes more serious and calms down because she feels really bad

(Near the flamingos, Emily grabs her hand as an apology and they enjoy looking at the animals with each other)

JJ enjoys the zoo trip a lot more after that

(it’s only a bonus that Emily never lets go of her hand after initially grabbing it)

Penelope is absolutely beside herself

She’s so excited to be here!!! All the animals are so stinking cute!!!!

There’s several volunteers around that have education animals at various spots in the zoo

And Penelope pets each and every single one

Including the giant tegu on a harness (his cheeks are so chubby!! his leash is rainbow!! he’s adorable!!)

She’s also the only person on the team brave enough to hold a massive 8ft jungle carpet python

She thinks the snake is adorable!!! (he has a puppy face!!)

She also holds a baby panda and cries when it plays with her hair because it’s just too cute

Spencer’s favorite animals are the giraffes

(It may or may not be because he gets to feed them and pet them)

Derek’s favorite animal is the polar bear or the rhino

Rossi has a fondness for the aquarium

If it were up to him, they would stay in the aquarium the whole day and he’d be happy

JJ likes the sea otters

There’s a space people can stick their hand into the enclosure and hold hands with an otter!!!!

(She’s the only one that catches Rossi holding hands with one when he thinks no one is looking and swears herself to secrecy)

Emily loves the snow leopard and the tiger (obviously)

They’re the only big cats that respond to her “ps-ps-ps” like Sergio would

Hotch won’t admit it, but he likes the sun bears and the elephants

Penelope loves all the animals

There’s no competition for her

When they leave, they all get something at the gift shop

Derek gets Spencer a stuffed giraffe

Emily gets JJ a stuffed otter

JJ gets stuffed animals for her boys (an alligator for Henry and a lion for Michael)

[Emily pays for them despite her protests]

Penelope gets a fossil necklace and a geode

Hotch gets Jack a book on reptiles

Rossi gets a bear statue for his office

Just as they’re loading up in the van to go back to the office, Spencer’s jacket squaks

Hotch: hey, Reid, what do you got there?

Spencer hugs his jacket closer to his body, bringing up a straw to his lips

A smoothie is his innocent reply, but then his jacket squaks again and out pops a fucking penguin

Like a real, breathing, actual honest to god penguin

Hotch takes it back inside quickly, not even bothering to question how the hell Spencer acquired a penguin to begin with

Emily calls out from the back that none of this would have happened if they had just gone to the strip club in the first place

Emily is suspended for a day

Then Hotch bans the zoo as a destination for the team’s outings

Story Time!

I used to work as a tour guide at a large aquarium, and I sometimes supervised the touch pool, where people could pet small stingrays and sharks (not babies—just smaller species of rays and sharks). I’m not a marine biologist or a vet, but I’ve never heard that oils from our hands can damage the animals. (It may be true; I’m just not aware of it.) We had people petting the animals all day long, day after day. Fortunately, I didn’t see wear-and-tear damage to the animals due to moderate touching such as in the video above.

Stingrays actually love the contact, like the adorable fish in this video obviously does. Rays are like slippery little flat sea-puppies. They’ll press their bodies up against your hands as they swim by you, like they’re giving a squishy, aquatic high-five. In my experience though, the small sharks you typically see in touch pools, like leopard sharks, aren’t as friendly. They tolerate us, but they don’t get excited to see (smell) familiar people or deliberately splash for your attention.

Sharks’ scales are pretty tough. Each scale has a miniscule serrated hook shape on the end, which makes them feel like sandpaper if you pet them front to back, but if you pet them the wrong direction (back to front), you can actually cut yourself. I’ve gotten little cuts on my hands when handling the smaller sharks—nothing major; they’re just like little paper cuts.

All this being said, I no longer believe aquariums should have touch pools—because human behaviors are just too dangerous for the animals. I saw people throw dirty cigarette butts at the animals, poke at them, pull on their fins and tails, and scare them just to get a big splash reaction. Kids would pour their biggie cups of Mountain Dew (all sodas are toxic) into the pool, so the animals basically had to breathe that corrosive fluid into their gills until fresh saltwater fully cycled through.

One time while I was supervising the touch pool, a full-grown man grabbed a 3-ft. leopard shark and picked her up out of the water, apparently to impress his friends(?) Of course, she panicked and thrashed. So, he either lost his grip or deliberately dropped her on the ground outside the water. I ran over to help her, but the place was so packed with people I was afraid she would suffocate or break her back with her violent thrashing before I reached her.

It was one of those moments when everything slows down, like in a dream when you can’t move your body fast enough and you get tunnel vision. All I could see was that poor shark desperately contorting her body and whipping herself around, helpless to get herself back in the pool—and a 20 ft. wall of people between her and me.

But then the crowd just separated in front of me—it was like Moses parted them, I kid you not. Like, in an instant every person in that crowd (even the kids) knew they needed to MOVE out of my way. So, I got to the shark, got my hands on her—and somehow I didn’t lose my grip on this 3-foot-long, streamlined cord of pure muscle with fins, while she fought me every milisecond (I mean, she nearly knocked me over, and I’m almost 6 feet tall), until I got her safely into the pool.

That poor girl was so scared. Even after she could breathe again, she just swam lap after lap around the circular pool, faster than I have ever seen a leopard shark swim (leopard sharks, like most bottom-feeders, are generally pretty lazy). I watched her carefully and looked for visible injuries, but she was okay. Clearly traumatized, but physically out of danger.

But humans are so stupid! Even when she was still racing around the pool in a panic, people went right back to sticking their hands in the water. I had to keep telling them to keep their damn dirty paws off my babies to just give the animals in the pool a break, because an event like that is traumatizing for the whole pool, not just the one shark.

Anyway, after things died down, a new wave of people came through the aquarium, and I was back to telling a new batch of kids to stop floating their half-full plastic cups of soda in the touch pool. And I had a couple of stingy little papercuts on my palms that were drenched in saltwater.

I used to think having a touch pool was a wonderful way to allow people to make a real connection with these extraordinary creatures. But too many humans are just too stupid and too thoughtless to be trusted around vulnerable animals. That moron who grabbed this poor shark and dragged her out of the water wasn’t there to make a connection with or learn something about the animals we share our planet with.

On the other hand, it really was remarkable how that crowd split in front of me, like a zipper was pulled. They weren’t just trying to get away from the crazed shark flipping cartwheels—without a word they made a path between me and her. (I actually had one of those microphone headsets on at the time, so I could have shouted at the crowd to move, but I didn’t even need to. I think i just said, “No,” and started barreling over there like a linebacker, while people just got out of the way—like we had all choreographed it.)

Anyway, if you go by this example, you could say that most people are decent, they mean to do the right thing, and they will pull together in a crisis. BUT there’s probably always going to be some asshole in the crowd who will ruin it for everybody. There’s always some clown who thinks animals are toys or trophies, and that he can do anything he wants to an animal that has the bad fortune to be trapped and defenseless in front of him. It’s that guy we have to watch out for, if we take our job as stewards of this planet seriously.
