For the human version of Leo, I used an edit I did of Ludi Lin as Liu Kang in MK 2021 since I felt it was ideal for the way he would look. For April, I used this beautiful model named Samantha Jerasa (best known as sammyjjo on Instagram).

— Would like to watch you doodle if there is a chance! Autumn will continuously look at the piece of paper you are drawing on until someone distracts him.

— If someday you'll doodle him, he'll go like "boom" and he will be so excited! Is this really him? How cool he is!

— And he would later boast of this doodle to his parents or friends, talking about it as if Leonardo Da Vinci had drawn it.

— Perhaps because of this, some children will come up to you and ask you to draw them too... But it’s up to you to decide what to do with them!

— Qiu will constantly support you in your doodles, constantly giving you some ideas for them.

Tamarack Baumann:

— When Tamarack finds out you're into doodling, she'll probably tell you right away how cool it is!

— And when you show her your sketches, she will carefully examine them all from your hands, slightly narrowing her eyes and then nodding cheerfully.

— She really liked them! So after looking at all the sketches you wanted to show Tamarack, she will give them a compliment or two.

— At school, especially during breaks when there is nothing to do, Tammy might suggest you playing a drawing game! And then, with your permission, she will take these sheets with your and her drawings.

— At home, Tamma will definitely put these drawings in some secluded corner with some things that are important to her, often taking them out and looking through these doodles!

— If you draw her, she will accept this drawing with all joy and will also keep it in her room. You made her look just all pretty!

— Just like Qiu, she will support you in this all the ways she can! Tammy will be your biggest fan, believe me!

Puppets Imitate Art

Pili employees are strong contenders for the funniest people on the planet and nowhere is this more apparent than their social media posts where they use Photoshop wizardry to put those puppets in situations. Here are some of my favorites, all referencing/parodying famous works of art:

Rembrandt: The Night Watch (1642)

The gang's all here in this recreation for Mie Tian Hai's birthday, complete with a cake for the birthday warlord. Shout-out to jester!Lin Xue Ya from the first movie as the drummer on the right.

Raphael: Tempi Madonna (1508)

Raphael did so many Madonna and Child paintings, it can be difficult to tell them apart but the castle in the background on the middle right gives this one away. Given what happened in canon, this one's kind of painful, but the parallels are undeniable.

Leonardo da Vinci: The Last Supper (c. 1495–1498)

The cast of Bewitching Melody of the West settles in for a recreation of this iconic piece, with Pili character Baili Binghong, the "father of Thunderbolt Fantasy", standing in for Christ.

It turns out Baili Binghong was Gen Urobuchi's favorite character from the Pili main series, and when Pili killed him off, Urobuchi was stunned, which in turn led to the creation of Thunderbolt Fantasy. RIP, Baili Binghong; thanks for taking one for the team!

For additional emphasis, Pili originally dropped this one on Thanksgiving, which is why there's turkey and pie... except for Baili Binghong, who has a bento (Pili slang for character death) in preparation for his ascent to Puppet Heaven.

There's so much going on here, it's hard to pick a favorite, but I love that the good guys and bad guys are on opposite sides of the table, and also Lin Xue Ya's pose is especially funny.

Gustav Klimt: The Kiss (c. 1907)

Lou Zhen Jie embraces Seven Blasphemous Deaths with fervent devotion surrounded by gold and flowers. This is less of a direct recreation than a reference, as evidenced by the golden halo around Lou Zhen Jie's head, which would not be out of place in a medieval manuscript (one of Klimt's influences/inspirations for the original piece).

Alphonse Mucha: F. Champenois Imprimeur-Éditeur (1897)

There are a number of different riffs of this Mucha print featuring different characters, all of which are variations on the same basic theme, but I picked this one with Mu Tian Ming because it was originally posted to promote an exhibit on Mucha's influence on Japanese manga artists, thus bringing the conversation full circle.

Michelangelo: The Creation of Adam (c. 1512)

Huo Shi Ming Huang desires god-like powers and here he gets his wish, bringing life to.... Lin Xue Ya?? No way this won't backfire on him, hahaha. Shout out to Xing Hai, Ba Wang Yu, and Hua Wu Zong as the attending "angels".

(As an aside, this is at least the third time this particular painting has been referenced in media originally written by Gen Urobuchi, the first two being Madoka Magica and Rusty Rabbit, where they are mentioned directly in-text as opposed to extracanonical material. I can't decide if it's funnier if Pili did this on purpose or if it's just a coincidence.)

So she goes to Wu to tell him what's wrong, and he says, 'There's something I haven't told you yet.' So, the 2012 Teenage Mutant Turtles come to the monastery with all their weapons ready to fight William Afton for revenge because William rizzed up and then killed their dad, Splinter. But Master Wu says, 'We need one more person to help fight.' So he calls Jack Frost from the hit movie Rise of the Guardians, and Jack says, 'I'm ready to beat some murderers' ass,' because William Afton killed his little sister.

They all show up to Sparkles (William Afton's secret hideout) and they're like, 'We are here to take the ninja back!' But William is like, 'Nuh uh,' and they start to fight. The ninja get good hits in, and William goes down, but he has the power of God and anime on his side, and he calls Sans Undertale from the hit game Undertale to come help him fight. Sans summons his Gaster Blasters and attacks everyone, and they all fall.

But then just when they think they're about to lose, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Mane 6 come out of the heavens and start to sing 'Eye of the Tiger' by Katy Perry. Everyone starts singing along, getting up, and getting their strength back. William Afton is confused and says, 'What is happening?' Then, with the power of friendship, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Katy Perry, they make a superpower beam that kills William Afton and Sans Undertale, and Nya is able to save all the ninja. What if that happened?

More than one year after their boycott of Bud Light for their backing of a single Instagram post by trans TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, the online right have set their sights on a new and much-bigger target: the Paris Olympics. This time it’s over imagery that featured drag queens and two boxers they implied were trans. 28.6 million people in the United States alone watched the start of the Paris games, seeing athletes waving from boats of all sizes on the Seine, a tribute to a popular French game franchise, and a series of lively dances that took place all over the city. The moment that drew public ire came later in the event. At the end of a runway show meant to show off Paris’ status as a center of fashion, the models and viewers – some of whom were drag queens – posed in a tableau that many saw as a nod to “The Last Supper,” a famous painting by Leonardo da Vici of Jesus and his 12 pupils.

The online right did not like this. The next day, at least two shows on Fox News gave airtime to the blooming backlash, with one bringing in a bishop to encourage people to push back on “evil” and “gird their loins … and stand athwart this pretty clear attack on us.” By Monday, both Fox and Sinclair were discussing calls for boycotts of the entire Games. Sean Hannity said that he wasn’t interested in watching. Daily Wire host Michael Knowles – who seemed to find the thing so grotesque that he blurred images of it on his show – suggested that because the Olympics showed a lack of respect for “the true God,” he would not watch it. Harris Faulkner on Fox’s Outnumbered stated that the planners of the events had a “disease,” and her co-hosts were newly outraged that Trans Day of Visibility, which is always on March 31, fell on Easter this year.

Fired former Daily Wire host Candace Owens claimed that the event was set up as a tribute to Brigitte Macron, the first lady of France, whom she has falsely claimed in several recent episodes of her new show was born a man. Smelling blood, Alex Jones and others called for the Paris Games to be given “the Bud Light treatment.”

As stated by NBC News, both boxers have fought as women for their entire careers and neither has said they are trans or intersex.
