[𝚂𝚖𝚞𝚝 𝙿𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚝 𝚁𝚎𝚚𝚞𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚜 - 𝟸𝚔 𝙵𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛 𝙲𝚎𝚕𝚎𝚋𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗! ]
Tumblr media
I've gotten a little unexpected free time. Most of you that follow me (and paid attention) know I was working full time, I didn't have much time for myself let alone to work on my fics. I still have everything in my drafts, I don't plan on abandoning those if I can help it. But, I'd like to get back into the swing of things. I want to find some inspiration for writing fics again. I have a list of SMUT prompts below and am willing to take on a few extra requests to refresh my mind.
Tumblr media
While I mostly currently write for the characters of ATJ, I am not opposed to writing about others. You can always find out who I will write for and who I won't with a simple ask or dm. Underage people are asked to not interact with my blog. You will be blocked. I do write and am willing to write, kink-heavy and darkfic themes. You can find my ATJ masterlist here.
↳ The credit for the prompt list goes to @delusionisaplace
"I want to hear you beg."
"Arch your back for me."
"You look better with my hands around your neck."
"Swallow it. All of it."
"God, you feel so fucking good."
"Suck on it."
"You're so fucking hot."
"Open your legs for me, baby. I wanna see you."
"Don't hold back."
“Ah, fuck.”
"That noise...keep making it."
"Wrap your legs around my waist."
"Let's make this quick."
"Don't close your eyes, baby. Look at me."
"You're mine."
"Such a good little slut, aren't you?"
“Faster—ah shit—harder…”
"I wanna go again."
“I want you. I need you.”
“Huh…uh…keep going.”
“Wait—uh—do…do that again.”
"Mark me. Mark me so everyone knows who I belong to."
"Don't be gentle with me—I like it when you're rough."
"One more time! Please!"
"Fuck—uh! I love it when you touch me like that."

Ultimate Showdown, but it's Discworld
A dragon was rampaging around
Ankh-Morpork like a big playground
When suddenly Sam Vimes burst out of the Mended Drum
And readied the crossbow’s trigger with his thumb
The dragon got mad and descended upon
But didn’t expect to be blocked by Hrun
Who took Kring the magic sword from out the corner
When Captain Carrot arrived, in shining armor
Then he beat up Hrun like he was on a mission
And Vimes felt like he was being watched by the Patrician
Before he could make it back to Sator Square
Bloody S. Johnson swooped in from nowhere
And took the Gonne out from under his coat
And missed Vimes, he instead got Cut-Me-Own-Throat
But Death caught up and said, “Today is not your day,”
While Sergeant Detritus rushed into the fray
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History
Wizards, Witches, and explosions as far as the eye can see
The gods are watching the scene from Cori Celesti
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History
The dragon unleashed fire upon the troll
Also igniting Gaspode, who was on a stroll
And then Hrun came back, ready to hack and sack
But the Librarian jumped out and landed on his back
And Sam Vimes was injured and trying not to swoon
When Bloody S. Johnson returned with the clockwork spoon
But suddenly something caught his leg and he fell
Angua took him out with her fluffy tail
Then she saw the dragon sneaking up from behind
And she reached for her sword which she just couldn't find
Cause Vimes borrowed it and he swung and he missed
And the Librarian deflected it with his fist (ouch!)
Then he jumped in the air and he went ook
While Johnson got hit by a magic book
Where sparks of Octarine flew into the air
Then the Luggage gave them a big ol’ scare
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History
Wizards, Witches, and explosions as far as the eye can see
The gods are watching the scene from Cori Celesti
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History
Ravens crowed, and out of the sky they dived
While on her broomstick, Granny Weatherwax arrived
Who delivered a glare, which could turn babies old
Into the face of Angua von Uberwald
Who crumbled to the ground, convinced she’s made of dough
As Sam Vimes took out his crossbow
But Granny saw him readying a shot
And she caught the arrow, which was red hot
Then Susan Sto Helit, and Death of Rats
And Maurice and his amazing Rodents, running past
And Tiffany Aching with her frying pan
And lady Sybil Ramkin, Duchess of Ankh
Adora Belle, Moist von Lipwig and Lord Vetinari
Mustrum Ridcully and the whole Unseen University
Leonard of Quirm and Cheery Littlebottom
Twoflower, Pretty Butterfly, Lotus Blossom
All came out of nowhere lightning fast
And they kicked Granny all the way into the past
It was the most magical battle that the Disc ever saw
With civilians looking on in total awe
The fight raged on for a century
Death was quite busy but eventually
The champion stood, the rest saw their last hope
Rincewind in his raggedy robe
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History
Wizards, Witches, and explosions as far as the eye can see
The gods are watching the scene from Cori Celesti
This is the greatest battle in Discworld’s History

What You Deserve | Leonard Bast x You | Series Masterlist
Once upon a time, a boy entered a bookshop...
Part Three: Rest Your Eyes Words: 2.1k Date: Friday, December 20, 1912
Tumblr media
"I hope he loves it. Have a happy holiday, and do come again!"
Your smile fades as the man shopping for his nephew turns his back on you and heads for the door with a new storybook.
You hate this time of year.
Everyone is far too joyful. People spend money they don't have on things they don't need. And how many bloody wreaths does one city need? It's all too much, and there is no escape from it.
Jimmy, the occasional employee who once had a crush on you, is now terrified of you. He'd held up a sprig of mistletoe between you yesterday and boasted, "look what I found!" You'd smacked it out of his hand and left him wide-eyed and slack-jawed. You suppose you owe him an apology. He didn't know that you hate Christmas. He didn't know that the sight of mistletoe turns your stomach.
He didn't know about Leonard Bast.
No one did.
You'd tried to carry on as usual, but everything felt different after that day. Despite your efforts, people noticed. You suspect that your father had shared his theory that you'd been attacked to your sisters, who no longer teased you about your love of books or lack of romantic prospects. They mostly left you alone now. You'd pretended to be sick last Christmas so that you wouldn't have to see them. You wanted to wallow alone in your shame. Would it work again this year?
You left the counter to dust shelves while there was no one else in the shop. It was nearing the end of the day anyway. No one ever came in at the last minute except for him. And you hadn't seen him in a year.
The bell above the door chimes, and you cast your miserable thoughts aside and force a smile as you turn to greet your customer.
"Good eve--"
Your heart stopped.
He was thinner. His cheeks were hollowed, and there were dark circles beneath his eyes that almost looked like bruises. His jacket was baggier and more frayed than the last time you'd seen it. And it was also wet, thanks to today's drizzle.
You knew you should be angry with him. That you should tell him to get out. But all you wanted to do was wrap him in a blanket and take him upstairs to warm up by the fire. He looked so cold. So miserable.
"I know you don't want to see me. And I'm sorry I've come. But…" He licks his chapped lips before continuing quietly. "I've a favor to ask of you. I know I have no right to. And I'm sorry for that too."
You swallow and try not to cry. "How can I help you today, Mr. Bast?"
He pulls a little leather-bound book from inside his jacket. Once upon a time, you'd thought that giving him this book of poetry, full of notes and underlined passages, would be a romantic way to tell him how you felt about him. Now, the sight of it makes you feel ill.
"I'm… I'm going to a place where I ought not take this. I wondered if you'd keep it for me?"
You stop staring at the book and meet his eyes, which are are pleading and apologetic.
"I'm not trying to sell it back. I just need someone to hold onto it for a little while."
"Why?" you croak.
"I just…" He sighs and starts over. "I was told I ought not take anything valuable or sentimental with me."
"Where are you going, Mr. Bast?"
He hesitates. The clock chimes, and he jumps in surprise, hugging the book to his chest. He looks like a frightened animal. What has the world done to you, Leonard Bast?
"Will you take it?" he asks, holding out the book to you. It's more worn than the day you slipped it into his parcel. His hands shake. You shove aside all the pain you've felt over the past year and make a decision.
"Only if you join me for tea, and tell me what's going on."
"I can't… I should…"
"Mr. Bast."
"Yes?"
"You broke my heart."
He flinches at your words.
"You broke my heart, and then you ran away. And now you've just walked back into my life and asked a favor of me. I think I deserve to know why."
He hangs his head and shifts uncomfortably.
"Will you please join me for tea?" you ask, a little softer this time.
His big brown eyes, which seem even bigger with his face so thin, look very glassy as he nods.
You move to lock the door, and he backs away as if he's afraid to touch you. You move slowly and deliberately as you lead him to your living quarters upstairs.
"Please," you gesture to the chairs by the fire, and he sits in your favorite one uneasily while you put the kettle on. He waits silently while the water boils, fidgeting with the frayed cuff of his jacket. You gather an assortment of food, hoping that he'll eat something, and place a tray in front of him.
He doesn't speak until you're seated across from him, and the tea is steaming on the table between you.
"I'm out of work." He stares at the food, but doesn't take anything. "I was told that my insurance firm was going under, so I took a position at the bank. And then the bank released me. I begged off my sisters for a while, until their husbands found out. Jacky left me for someone who could take care of her. She was right to."
So much for 'for richer and for poorer', you thought bitterly. He looks up, as if he'd heard your thought.
"I've sold everything… except this." He grasps the book you'd given him like he's holding onto it for dear life. "I can't take it with me. Would you please look after it for me? I'll try to come back for it one day. I'll pay you for keeping it safe, if I can."
"Where are you going, Mr. Bast?" you ask again, fearing the answer.
"A workhouse," he admits quietly, speaking to the floor. Your heart drops.
"Surely there's something else you can do?" you ask fearfully. When people go into workhouses, they rarely come out. And if they do, they're not the same. Hasn't he read the same literature on the subject as you?
He shakes his head in defeat, and all the breath leaves your lungs.
A knock at the door temporarily halts your turmoil.
"Excuse me for a moment," you say softly. You gesture to the food on the table. "Please, help yourself."
You cross the room and crack the door to see Jimmy. You'd forgotten he was fixing a wheel on the cart in the storage room. "Everything alright?" he asks.
"Just having tea with an old friend," you tell him in a hushed tone.
"Cart's ready. Need me to stick around?" He's peering over your shoulder, trying to get a glimpse of your guest. You shift into his way.
"No, thank you. You can go home for the night. I'll do the sweeping-up later."
You close the door before he can protest and return to Leonard.
He's eaten a few bites of a pastry and fallen asleep. His head rests against the chair's plush backing like yours often does, when you stop reading to rest your eyes for a minute that turns into an hour. You don't have the heart to wake him. Moving quietly as a mouse, you pick up a blanket and drape it over his sleeping form.
You sit back down to think.
The poor man has nothing. No job, no home, no wife. He is not yet forgiven for leaving out that little detail, but you cannot allow him to enter a workhouse. Leonard Bast is a bright young man with a brilliant brain. He's not built for breaking rocks.
If you can't find somewhere who needs to hire help, you'll hire him yourself. Your father has been longing to get out to the countryside more and breathe the fresh air, perhaps this could be his chance. Yes, Leonard could help you run the shop while your father takes a well-deserved holiday. It was just the two of you living here now, anyhow; your mother was long gone, and both sisters were happily married and living in big boring houses of their own. You could fix up the storage room and let him sleep there. Or would that be too cold? You could sleep in your father's room while he's away and let Leonard take yours. You could cook for him, and watch his cheeks and body fill out as they rediscovered proper nutrients. He could stay here as long as he needed.
The man may have broken your heart, but you would not let the workhouse break the man.
You were at the stove making dinner when he woke. His pale face went red immediately.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I'll go, please forg--"
"Would you please fetch two bowls out of that cabinet?" you interrupt, gesturing vaguely in its direction without looking at him. He falls silent and obeys, bringing you the requested dishes.
You spoon hot stew into them as he stands there, confused.
"Take those to the table?" you smile. His brow furrows, but he does as you ask. You follow with a basket of bread and sit at the table. He squirms uncomfortably. "Please have a seat, Mr. Bast."
His eyes dart from you to the food and back again, like it's a trick. It reminds you of that first time you let him browse after the shop closed. You smile and wait for the battle going on inside his head to cease. Finally, he moves slowly toward the table, sitting lightly as if he's not sure he belongs there.
You close your eyes and say a prayer, thanking the Lord for your food, and your shelter, and for an old friend to share them with. When you open your eyes and meet Leonard's, they're brimming with tears.
He needs food more than you need answers, so you drop your eyes to your bowl and take a bite, hoping he'll do the same. He does. The meal passes in a comfortable silence.
He tries to leave again when dinner is done. "Thank you for dinner, although you ought not have been so accommodating after I overstayed my welcome. I should be going now, I've wasted too much of your time already."
"Mr. Bast, I'm not done with you yet."
"You're not?" he asks, taken aback.
"Would you sit with me a while?" You gesture to the chairs by the fire, where he'd slept the evening away. He agrees, and takes his seat.
You sit across from him and stare for a moment, wondering where to begin. The man is a walking tragedy, but you don't want to make him feel like one.
"Mr. Bast, you know that I care for you."
"I don't deserve it," he says quietly.
"You don't deserve the workhouse."
"I do," he whispers tearfully. "It was my own fault. I listened to advice I should not have listened to. I lost my job, I drove Jacky away because I couldn't provide, I drove my family away because I was a beggar and an embarrassment, and I hurt you because I lied. I deserve it."
"Why did you not tell me that you were married?" you ask.
"I wasn't," he admits. "Not really. We told a lie so that we might live together. She had no one else to care for her."
"Did you love her?"
He looks at the carpet and doesn't answer.
"Because I loved you," you confess, your voice cracking.
"I know." He sniffs and reaches for the annotated book of poetry you'd given him a year ago. He opens it to a bookmarked page, skims silently, and closes it. A tear streams down his cheek. "I read it every day. I never stopped thinking of you, even though I had no right to."
You want to dry his tears and hold him. Instead, you wrap your arms around yourself and try not to let your own tears fall.
"I'm sorry," he says, rising from his seat. He deposits the book on the table and steps toward the door.
You're in front of him before you realize you've left your chair. You stand defiantly between him and the door. His eyes are red, tears threatening to fall, lip quivering.
"Please don't leave me again," you beg. "Stay here, we'll find you work. We'll find you a place to stay. We'll figure things out."
"Why would you want to help me, after the way I've hurt you?" he asks pathetically.
"I never stopped thinking of you, either."

The Philosophy that Framed the Constitution
by Dan Sanchez | Sep 18, 2024
Tumblr media
Today [September 17] is Constitution Day in America. The federal holiday (technically Constitution Day and Citizenship Day) commemorates the signing of the US Constitution on September 17, 1787. The 2004 law that established it requires all taxpayer-funded educational institutions to provide lessons on the Constitution on that day.
However, learning cannot be legislated into existence. Two decades later, the Constitution is as misunderstood by the American public as ever. The education establishment bears a big part of the blame for this plight. But another culprit is mainstream media.
Political Football or Romantic Relic?
Journalists, pundits, and politicians treat the Constitution as little more than a political football. In newspapers, on news shows, and online, the overriding concern is whether and how the document can be leveraged to advance the policy agenda of one political faction or another.
Constitutional scholars and educators are more often “above the fray.” But their treatment of the Constitution just breeds public misunderstanding in a different way. In classrooms, textbooks, museum exhibits, documentaries, and mass-market history books, discussions of the meaning of the Constitution are usually either vague or wrong. The “Constitution education complex” reveres the document as a national treasure and commemorates its framing, signing, and ratification as the triumphant conclusion of the Revolution and the Founding: America’s epic origin story. But it glosses over so much that even today’s Constitution-loving patriots perceive the piece of parchment as little more than a romantic relic.
What both the education establishment and mainstream media almost always omit from their discussions of the Constitution is a clear and correct explanation of its philosophy. It is necessary to understand the Constitution as a work of philosophy in order to correctly interpret what it says as the law of the land and fully appreciate why it is a national treasure. Without that grounding, journalistic discourse is doomed to devolve into “political football” bickering, and scholarly explorations are bound to meander into “romantic relic” territory.
A Philosophy Made Manifest
How is the Constitution a “work of philosophy”? The Constitution is an expression (however imperfect) of the founding philosophy of America: a set of strong convictions held not only by America’s leading revolutionaries and founding fathers, but by the nation’s revolutionary and founding generation. Ayn Rand and Leonard E. Read referred to that philosophy as “Americanism,” and it was the spirit that animated both the Revolution and the Founding.

qu-tipie asked:
"So what was tha' highlight of sex fa' you?"
Tumblr media
Blushes deep red. Probably redder than his own girlfriend's lipstick. Sheldon sighs and fidgets with a stray strand on his shirt. He tucks it in and makes a reminder to sew it so it doesn't fray.
"I didn't like it much. I don't want that to come off---" He is struggling for the words to say. This is so difficult for him being closed off and not really a sexual being, but he knew one thing. He was a 'Harley Person.' "It wasn't the right circumstances. I think if she had been my girlfriend and I was attracted to her it would have been what Leonard always refers to as sex with Penny, 'mind blowing.'

Ad Astra News - 6/18-6/24
State of the Archive
Busy week this week!  We had a bunch of new people coming over and posting, others archiving older stories and a decent amount of very excellent discussion over on Discord.  Folks also seem to be falling in more comfortably with our posting/tagging rules, which is a great thing for archive searchability.  We do still have a Review Hunt going on for the next week, so your chance to win art and/or cash is still on the table, too!  Literally any review you write is eligible, so paste their links into the form as you write them!  Next month I'll be able to somewhat automate that process, but for now, this is what it's gotta take.
Weekly Challenge #10
For this week, write a story between 100 and 700 words about a sensory event or even just a day in the sun or rain. Can be extra-sensory, can be just plain old atmospheric, can involve any of the senses (and then some!) Interpret the prompt as literally as you like or a figuratively as you like, then submit your response to the Weekly Challenge Collection on Ad Astra: https://beta.adastrafanfic.com/collections/weeklychallenges Use the additional (freeform) tag Weekly Challenge: Sensory Processing Challenge closes on June 30th at 11:59P, Eastern.

Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper in Maestro (Bradley Cooper, 2023)
Cast: Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan, Matt Bomer, Gideon Glick, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Vincenzo Amato, Michael Urie, Greg Hildreth, Brian Klugman, Nick Blaemire, Mallory Portnoy, Yasen Peyakov, Zachary Booth, Miriam Shor, Alexa Swinton. Screenplay: Bradley Cooper, Josh Singer. Cinematography: Matthew Libatique. Production design: Kevin Thompson. Film editing: Michelle Tesoro. Music: Leonard Bernstein.
The Aussies call it "tall poppy syndrome." It's that tendency to try to undermine or underestimate the achievement of anyone who excels. And I think we saw it directed at Bradley Cooper when the first big wave of negative publicity came out from a critic from the Hollywood Reporter who saw the trailer for Maestro and called the prosthetic nose Cooper wore to play Leonard Bernstein "ethnic cosplay." The word "Jewface," analogous to blackface and "yellowface," labels for white performers pretending to be Black or Asian, was tossed about, as if Cooper were somehow guilty of antisemitism, or even depriving a Jewish actor of the role. Defenders came to the fray, including Bernstein's family, who indicated their approval of Cooper's choice, and others who pointed out that Cooper wasn't playing a negative stereotype, or even a character like Shylock or Fagin, but an authentic musical genius. But the damage was done, and the controversy continues to be a kind of scrim through which we watch and assess the film. I think much of it stems from the fact that Cooper is one of the most exceptional talents of our time, recognized for excellence as an actor, director, and screenwriter  -- a tall poppy indeed. He has a total of nine Academy Award nominations in all three of those fields plus producing -- for Todd Phillips's Joker (2019) and Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley (2022). He won a BAFTA for the music of A Star Is Born (2018), for which he wrote and sang several songs, and for which he also won two Grammys. He was nominated for a Tony in 2015 for his performance on Broadway in The Elephant Man. (One of the critics of the prosthetic nose observed that he wore no disfiguring makeup for the role of John Merrick, suggesting that if he's that good an actor, he should have played the role of Bernstein without the help of makeup.) All of this is preface to saying that Maestro is an exceptional film that only adds luster to an already distinguished career. It has been labeled a biopic, which is inadequate. Biographical films are usually distanced from their subjects, dramatizations of events in a career. Maestro is more intimate than that, a portrait of a man and a marriage. Cooper goes beyond mimicry of Bernstein in a serious effort to suggest the social and sexual and artistic tensions seething within the man. If I have to voice a criticism it's that he doesn't quite bring it off -- it's a little too much for any actor or screenwriter to achieve. But Cooper shows us the depths even if he doesn't plumb them. He wisely lets us have our own thoughts about something even Bernstein probably couldn't define about his sexuality: whether he was gay or bisexual, or whether that question is stupid and irrelevant. Carey Mulligan's performance as his wife, Felicia, brittle and burning, is a perfect match for Cooper's. If they don't have the chemistry that Cooper had with Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook (2012) or Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born, that's partly the point: The marriage of Lenny and Felicia was one of unresolved tension. Hence the epigraph for the film: "A work of art does not answer questions, if provokes them; and its essential meaning is in the tension between the contradictory answers." I have the feeling that Maestro will be remembered and studied for years to come.

Since I feel too much of a lazy bum today, I am creating a SchmendrickXMolly playlist (under the excuse that then I will have music I can listen to while I study and write the book reviews I must write before the deadline crashes on me).
Somewhere Only We Know – Keane
L’Apprendista Stregone (The Sorcerer Apprentice) – Angelo Branduardi
Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own – U2
Do It Again – Stroke 9 (because they also need some profane love)
Downtown Lights – Annie Lennox version
All The Small Things - blink-182
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out – The Smiths
Fix You – Coldplay
If It Be Your Will – Leonard Cohen
(Just Like) Starting Over - John Lennon
The Book of Love – Peter Gabriel
Il Tuo Culo E Il Tuo Cuore (Your Ass And Your Heart) – Roberto Vecchioni (because Schmendrick is all about singing a love song for Molly while complimenting her booty... the song is much more poetic than the title suggests, I promise)
Just Like Heaven – The Cure
The Wolf Is Getting Married – Sinead O’Connor
Original Of The Species – U2
She Is – The Fray
Abbracciala, Abbracciali, Abbracciati (Hug Her, Hug Them, Hug Yourself) – Lucio Battisti
Angel’s Song – Debbie Harry
We All Go Back To Where We Belong – R.E.M.
Do You Realize?? – The Flaming Lips
Gong – Sigur Ros
Venus as a Boy - Björk
Il Mio Canto Libero (My Song of Freeedom) – Lucio Battisti

They must have been Molly Bloom’s favourites since she remembered how the sun shines for you he said the day we were lying among the rhododendrons on Howth head yes, and Virginia Woolf wrote in late winter/early spring in one of her last diary entries L is doing the rhododendrons. Maybe Leonard was planning a trip to Rhodes, island of Rhodos, roses, or just removing compost, bark or straw mulch, some burlap, snow or wind screen from around the shrubs. Perhaps he stood out in the garden, secateurs in hand, deadheading the most far-reaching blossom inflorescences, their frayed ends dangling as if they had exploded like firecrackers. From a distance, it must have looked like a Greek dance, one leg crossed over the other, someone holding a bouquet of air at the end of each outstretched arm, praising what comes back each spring, or doesn’t.

Send me 🫦 to have a New year's kiss at midnight. || @barebcnes || not accepting.
He'd never cared much for tradition. Whatever had been taught to him by his mother had been washed away in sand and soot, reminding him that rituals had little use. Life would not halt for repetition or custom, ever apathetic in a constant, churning galaxy. Thus the way he remained impartial, a silent and immutable shadow in the corner of the room that observed with quiet, passive eyes, was largely ignored.
Still, he'd been permitted a momentary freedom from his prison. McCoy had convinced the captain that socialization would be beneficial for his rehabilitation, a forced integration the perfect tool of healing. Perhaps not in those words-- not really, not when he'd been incapable of the feat lest it concerned his body. Inside his skull, the darkness a perpetual companion. Earth had changed, yet he had remained the same.
How harrowing, the thought flitted through his mind like a moth yearning for the decimation of flame, ever the brooding shadow in the corner of the room.
A wonder that few spared him a glance as the festivities continued. That was how it ought to remain. If he planned on allowing weakness, he would never say so. Leonard was not his world, but he was close enough to occupy Khan’s mind that it made him wonder, made him doubt that pride-woven sense of self. Comfort became a weakness that seeped from the pores of his teeth and the pink of the tongue that wet his bottom lip.
McCoy brought him tea. It’d become something of a habit by now. Such a thought: it was easy to get ensnared, but he would never admit there are other reasons. Maybe he was selfish. Maybe he was insane. Maybe he was not ready to tell the good doctor that he was ready to flay himself open-- reveal himself as a poet instead of a warlord. A man instead of a monster.
Maybe he was weak. Maybe he was no better than the chemistry and firing synapses in his skull after all.
It was that, the swell of foreign emotions; the culprit, overtaking him, continuing the chain of cruel, thoughtless decisions. Leonard is near, leaning into him to say something above the cacophany of laughter, music, and downward count of time. If there was a protest, Khan pointedly ignored it, backing the other against the wall. The augment was not as subtle, no, not when he was made of jagged edges and frayed wire. Khan’s lips found McCoy's, quick and magnetic, and he could not break away before he realized his error. He lingered, too long. Always too long.
A new year, a new vulnerability.
