Chanukka is not the Jewish version of Christmas. There is no "Jewish version of Christmas." (There is an Ashki equivalent of Twelfth Night, and that's יידל מיטן פידל )
Happy first day of the war on Christmas everyone
Yearly reminder to gentiles that
1. Jews do not recognize Jesus as anything but a human man who probably existed in some capacity at some point
2. We do not celebrate his birthday. He is just some guy to us.
3. It is not a personal attack on you if we don’t celebrate your favorite holiday.
4. Chanukah is not the most important Jewish holiday, its just the only one you know by name because it happens roughly around Christmas time.
5. You can say or do whatever you want, we just think you’re annoying. At the end of the day, you’re still gonna get school or work off on Christmas and Easter while I have to chose between my religion and my schoolwork every year on Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah.
6. You are not the victim. However, unfortunately you are usually the main character.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF 1971
As the good book says, when a poor man eats a chicken, one of them is sick. Well, it doesn't say that exactly, but somewhere there is something about a chicken.

My main thoughts during this DS9 rewatch can be distilled down to "Armin Shimerman consistently gives the best performances on DS9, using the whole body as an instrument"

I feel like most people today, if they have any idea who Molly Picon was, think of her as Yenta the shadchn in the movie of Fiddler on the Roof.  I always think that must have been a weird role for her to play, because as a younger woman, she was a giant star of actual Yiddish movies, including quite a few set in the kind of shtetl that Anatevka evokes.  She also performed in the Yiddish theater, on the radio, and on Broadway, and she was known as a comedienne.
A better translation for the title of this song would be “Believe It Or Not,” and can’t you just see Molly Picon performing this at some cabaret somewhere in New York?  Maybe Sophie Tucker is there as well, ready to bring the house down after this comic interlude with a raunchy torch song.

Schizoid Personality Disorder... what is it?
Yeah, what they said. I personally find it to be about 98% accurate in reference to myself. Which is both relieving and disappointing. Up until the point of diagnosis I thought I was just "a different kind of person". I thought I was such an individual. Turns out my entire being- the only person I've ever known as "myself" my entire life- is just one big walking mental illness, and that it has a name, and that almost every facet of me and what I thought made me unique is a symptom- to the point that I would call myself a "classic/textbook case" if there were any for SzPD.
Looking back, the older I became (I'm currently in my mid-30s), the more self-aware I became, the more comfortable I became with and within myself, the more comfortable I became with my role in society and with my relationship to society, the more I was able to say that I truly knew myself… the more boxes I was (unknowingly, of course) checking off of the SzPD symptoms/diagnostic criteria list as I "grew into myself", hitting every rung on the way down (or up, maybe?) until I finally landed on "this is who I am", which I can now say is almost synonymous with "this is what SzPD is"... Am I upset? Not at all. After discovery/realization comes acceptance--> comes relief--> comes redirection--> comes the opportunity to get to know myself anew--> comes the opportunity to reinvent myself if I should so choose.
"It's never too late to begin a life or a book."
-Molly Picon
... Or a blog.
Ok, so now what?… For now, nothing more than this journal. Will I seek treatment in the future? Yes, and I'll get into that later. But for now, this is it.

MOLLY PICON // ACTRESS
“She was an American actress of stage, screen, radio and television, as well as a lyricist and dramatic storyteller. She began appearing in European silent movies, and her most famous picture, Yidl Mitn Fidl (1936), was shown with her wearing male clothing throughout most of the movie. She had a musical comedy radio show in 1934 and made her English language debut on stage in 1940. Her first major Anglophonic role in the movies was in the film version of Come Blow Your Horn (1963) with Frank Sinatra. One of her best known film roles was as Yente the Matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof (1971).”
