had meant to do it exactly the one year later mark, but i blinked and suddenly april was may was june -- so ended up being more like a year and 1.5 months lol

May 11th, 2024 vs. April 6th, 2023

its so funny seeing them nest to each other now, but i remember when i finished the first version last year, i was so proud to have finally made a proper 'finished' piece.

like, yall, i struggled for years to every be able to create a piece i would ever call close to 'done'. part of that is me being a very knit-picky kinda person, and wanted to continue to tweak everything all of the time forever, but on top of that i also do work slow af, and before last year i didnt really have access to any digital media. and i love traditional mediums, but im defintiely not practiced enough to be able to get the results i was looking for with any sort of speed. like im genuinely not sure i created a single 'finished' work in my life -- not in school, not in work, not even in the free space of silly fandom doodles.

and then this piece happened!

and i knew even then that it was messy and rough af, but it had a background!! and color!! sure, the linework wasnt polished at all but still, for a silly little fanart? it was defined enough to distinguish the separate characters, and read expressions! there was even a little tiny bit of lighting!! i hate lighting!!

seeing the two versions side by side honestly i kinda have to laugh at how Rough the first version looks now. but you know what. im still so so proud of it. the colors are muddy, theres no shift in value; their clothing designs arent at all defined, leos teeth look weird af and theres lines on caseys face that are definitely from me accidentally dragging my fingers across the tablet when i didnt mean to but like. its there! its finished! i did it!

idk. ive never had a piece ive ever wanted to hang on my own fridge before. :)

1) Hmmm for an art piece, my favourite I think would be my Shredder Risetober piece. I’m very proud of how my art style and colouring style changed during the whole Risetober event, and I’m quite satisfied on how I pose the turtles and April in this piece

For animations, it would have been my Just A Man Animatic. Spent a long while on that and I’m very proud it

2) I guess I would love for more people to see:

Future Leo Animation - I animated that to try out Procreate Dreams. I would like to think that the mask tails and cape’s flutter is very satisfying

These wallpapers - Because I loved how I drew the tattoos. The flowers all have their own meanings and I included little details like lightning storm in Leos tattoos, machinery gears in Donnies, Dragon scales in Raphs and Crane wings in Mikeys

They’re living in my head rent free, I’m a changed person after I read them. They have similar…. Taste? Vibes? I dunno how I would describe the feelings they inspired in me and I could ramble on and on about those fics for hours

Next Major Life Change 🏃🏻‍♀️ - April 2024 - Leo

Meditation: It was a biker bar, playing old classic rock music, air so full of smoke you could barely breathe. You came in wearing a full leather get-up & a gas mask, and started immediately making changes. These guys around you were triggered and offended, ready to kick your ass, but you were so friendly, you’d just hold up your finger like “Wait, wait, just give me a chance.” You installed a dozen fans into the ceilings, brought in some dancing girls in cowboy getups, and made the music more somewhat modern country. Clearly a country theme going on here. Old school. At the end of the day, everyone loved you and appreciated what you did, and I’m hearing “it’s under new management”.

You have some amazing idea or desire for your future, you’re feeling inspired and rejuvenated by something, ready to take on a new project or phase in your life. Like the vision, you have great intentions, solid plans, you’re not just pulling things out of your bum here, it’s like someone is undermining your intelligence. But you don’t want to fight for it - why should you have to?

That’s a problem 💯 Not always, people don’t have to like everything you like, but when your heart is involved in something you really want to do - and could use the help or input - then this behavior is not acceptable. You matter too.

Dog Bone 🦴 is not something we want to see, your no one’s pet, “lesser than” or servant ok, fuck that. You don’t have to maneuver around everyone else’s bs to fit yours in no, you are important and people can & should make time for you and your big ideas. The advice is to note the behavior of those around you - but more importantly, how it makes YOU feel. 8 Swords shows you feeling powerless, like you shouldn’t even speak, like you’re bothering people. I heard “you care more than they do.” That’s important because you want their help, right? How much help can they really be if they’re all not even into it? You’re going to end up doing everything ANYWAY, because you can do it the way it needs to be done. You have the vision, other people can’t see it, and Explore shows you need to dive deep and map out exactly what you want, how to get there, start charting details, and ask the questions you need to ask - whether they care or not. Maybe replace them with people that do whatever it is you’re trying to do, there are others out there happy to help. I’m hearing “keep going,” and if you have to do it alone, do it then. Serves them right, they’ll see when you win won’t they?

ROTTMNT: Retired Leo AU

I totally forgot yesterday was Father's Day, and that I wanted to do a little special for it, so this is a little late but that's okay. Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day Special 2024

Casey follows Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Mikey- who are all wearing their hoodies- through the mall to a little gift shop. The four turtle boys peruse the shelves, looking for something specific, as Casey idly hangs around behind them.

“Got it,” Leo announces and shows Casey a coffee mug that reads ‘World’s Greatest Dad’.

“That’s the one?” he asks.

“Yeah,” Mikey replies, “we get one for Dad every year.”

“He loves them,” Raph adds.

“Let’s go pay,” Donnie orders and the four brothers head towards the till. Casey starts to follow but lingers for a second, eyeing the other similar mugs.

Later, the boys go to Run of the Mill Pizza for lunch. They settle down in a booth, two gift bags resting on the floor beside them, as they tuck into a large pizza.

“Hey, Casey?” Mikey says hesitantly.

“Yeah?” he questions.

“I’ve been wondering for a while...and you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to...”

“What is it, Mikey?” Casey asks impatiently.

“Who’s your...birth dad?”

The other three turtles blink with surprise and look at Casey. He also seems taken aback by the question, but just for a second before he shrugs. “I mean...I can tell you about him...but you’re not gonna like it.”

In the past

Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Donatello knelt before a shrine dedicated to their passed father, Splinter, paying their respects. They did this every year together, on his birthday and on Father’s Day.

Standing on the other side of the room, April, Cassandra, and a young Casey Junior waited patiently.

Casey blinked curiously as he watched his masters. He was young but still old enough to at least have a general idea how he was made. He never wondered much about it before, but now seeing the large turtles pay their respect to their father, he found himself questioning.

“Mom?” he asked, looking up at his mother. “Who is my dad?”

Cassandra and April both appeared shocked by this question, glancing at each other. Then Cassandra knelt down to eye level with Casey and squeezed his hands.

“Your birth father was a man named Lance Jeffers,” she explained seriously. “We spent a night together once and made you.”

“Gross,” Casey grunted.

Cassandra chuckled and continued. “But when I told Lance that I was pregnant with you, he said he wanted nothing to do with it. He was an asshole and I would consider the night I spent with him a mistake, if I didn’t get you out of it. He died not long after you were born from a Krang attack so...I’m sorry if you would’ve wanted to meet him.”

Casey scowled. “If he didn’t want to meet me, then I don’t want to meet him, since he was an asshole.”

“CJ!” April scolded as Cassandra laughed.

“That’s right. We don’t need that asshole,” she agreed, nuzzling Casey’s nose as he giggled.

“Casey,” April sighed.

As Casey finishes the story, Mikey snivels sadly and throws his arms around him. “I’m sorry, Casey! I shouldn’t have asked!”

“It’s fine,” Casey insists, shoving Mikey back. “Really. It never bothered me who my ‘birth father’ was. I mean, I had two awesome moms and four awesome dads. I think I was pretty lucky with the whole parent thing.”

The turtles nod and smile agreeably.

After lunch, the kids head home to the lair, where Leonardo and Splinter are sitting together on the TV chair. Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Mikey smile brightly as they approach, holding out their gift bag. Splinter stands up to accept the gift and reaches in to pull out the ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ mug.

“Ah, another one,” he smiles wearily. “Thank you, my sons. It will go great with my collection.”

The boys beam as he shuffles into the kitchen to add the mug to his dozens of other ones.

Leonardo grins with amusement as he watches from the chair and looks up when Casey slides up to him, holding open a gift bag of his own. Leonardo reaches inside and pulls out a similar ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ mug, and he snickers.

“Thanks, bud,” Leonardo says, throwing his arm around Casey and pulling him down into a hug as the boy laughs.

Tuesday, April 22nd 2024 Sun in Taurus ♉️🌎 Moon in Libra ♎️💨

Full Moon in Scorpio ♏️🌊

There’s a lot going on in the sky. The intensity is real. For a full understanding of today’s energies, it would be wise to read yesterday’s forecast as all of those transits are still quite active today. Let’s not forget the conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus either. Just because it was the talk a few days ago, it hasn’t gone away. And won’t for quite some time. Oh yeah, and Mercury is still retrograde.

With all of that said, let’s focus on the star of the day’s energies. The Full Moon in Scorpio taking place this evening. The real intensity behind this lunation is that it’s squaring its ruler, Pluto, the God of the underworld. The Moon is also in its fall in Scorpio. It doesn’t really like being here. If Pluto is squaring the Full Moon, that means that it’s also squaring the Sun on the other side creating a T-square. That’s a lot of tension. Emotions will be quite heightened during this time. We’ll be feeling all the feels, bringing up very dark parts of ourselves. But Full Moons are about letting things go. So do just that, face what’s coming up, address it honestly and move on. Plutonian energy wants you to dig deep, bring it to the surface to face and let it go. The fixed signs will feel this more intensely. That’s Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. But nobody is off the hook with this one.

There’s a lot of really beautiful energy up ahead, but we have to shed some baggage before we can fully experience it and take advantage of it. Practice some self care during this time and be gentle in your relationships. Have a good cry if necessary. April is almost over. It was predicted to be the toughest month this year. We’re almost there guys. Hang in there!
