Magnum PI 4.18 - Shallow Grave, Deep Water review

My goodness this was good! Like I don’t even know where to begin with it, good.

Part of me didn’t even want to write this review, I just sort of wanted to sit with this episode and soak it in. But after some thinking I did realize I had stuff to say.

I’m just going to list things that stuck with me, from the top of my head  in no particular order. 

Getting a reason for Magnum being a bit stuck and not really changing as a character. Love that. HIm having it be it survivor guilt about Nuzo... it makes me... well not happy, but it makes me have feelings that are not-bad because they would explain a lot. Yeah. I like the idea of giving him some angst that is not just subtext and in this episode sort of having him deal with it.

So yeah, end was beautiful and I was legit all tearing up and stuff, feeling all the feels. 

Gordon and Magnum going at it. That was “nice”, I like conflict between people who are friends. It’s dynamic and interesting when we can see and understand where both of them are coming from.

Juliet be looking smoking in the dress walking away from the funeral. Magnum not so shabby either in his uniform!

Nuzo’s ghost/Magnum’s subconscious being very pro Miggy and totally being like “you got a perfectly good flesh and blood person to talk to and yet...” and just all around pointing out he was being a wacky for not taking Higgy up on talking.

Magnum going “And I’m still here, alone.” That was as heartbreaking as the ending for me somehow.

Higgy seeing the dead people in the shipping container. Also the contrast of her being almost a little excited as she helped Magnum to maybe find a treasure (and answers for Thomas...and getting to very hands-on help him get dive-ready) to reaction she’s having to the container. IDK, even though Gordon and Magnum look very troubled and upset, I thought Perdie nailed the murderous, sad and upset, horrified vibe.

Speaking of the case... horrible. The teddy bear in the shipping container was heartbreaking, like how depressing and and unfair our world is (but sort of made for a beautiful tie in with the whole “life is unfair, death is unfair” at the end which... is there anything truer?) 

Our dynamic duo kicking ass at the end was brilliant though. That was a really cool and fast phased action sequence. 

Higgy being really in-tune with Magnum, realizing he knew about the guy and lied to Gordie, going after to check on him and then later offering to be there to talk. She’s really, as Nuzo and Magnum points out too, come a long way from the Ice Princess of the pilot.

Speaking of the pilot - the mirroring of the funeral with Nuzo’s funeral - that’s some good stuff.

Laura getting to make a come back. I like it, but I also didn't. Because where has she and Jake been for the past four years? They have not been in one scene and suddenly she’s there? If she’d  for example moved to the mainland that would have made more sense. But I kind of liked how they explained her distance away with “it hurt when I saw you but it’s better now?” too. So little torn, but it’s always nice to see old characters come back so I say it’s a win despite the whole 4+ years later...

We got to see TR Bell again (the boat not the woman). Boats and Miggy always make me a little extra excited these days. Higgy being a very hands-on helper is also...nice.

And of course, the last few moments where we get the words from the promo (and they are actually about Juliet and Magnum rather than a fake-out) and he looks over at her and we end with his little sort of relieved smile; maybe he really can let go of the past and be happy. Only problem is now we have to wait 3 weeks to get the next episode!

Anyways, those were some of my favorite bits just at the top of my head.

This was an episode with a lot of emotions for sure, and I liked that they had conflict on a lot of levels. Gordon and Magnum about him lying and pursuing the case differently, Magnum and Juliet about her wanting to be there for him and him holding back which really tied more in with the internal conflict of Magnum being a tiny bit worried Nuzo had done it. Which really was a big thing.

I almost would have liked to have Magnum find evidence that Nuzo did killed the guy (on his own) and having to struggle with his own feelings, who Nuzo was. Maybe even if he would compromise his own moral code by covering for Nuzo if he was a killer. It would have been a very different episode (and show even) if they had done that, and I’m glad they didn’t but it would have been interesting.

The flashback and Nuzo stabbing a guy and that being part of why Thomas was having some doubts... that was maybe the one scene I wasn’t too in love with. Because I feel like maybe during war this would be pretty standard? Or maybe that’s just because I’ve watched to much super brutal stuff lately so this barely registers as even a bit shocking?

Magnum dealing with being lonely and separate despite being with the Ohana, which is sort of hinted at through out the show, (for some reason the cross-over episode when TC asks Juliet to dance and he watches them comes to mind), was shown and explored here more. Both with Nuzo in the car but also with the empty bar for their last talk. Him also going “I’m fine” to Higgy which has been what he always says when he’s not.

I do hope we get some follow up on this, him letting go of his guilt with Nuzo, talking to the guys about it and not just on his sort of revelation that he wants to peruse something with Juliet. I mean, my Miggy loving self of course wants all the Miggy fluff but some Magnum character development + bonding is always welcome.

Besides I feel like they have to plan to address the Miggy feels the last two episodes. Just a tiny bit. Why else have that last scene end like that? So I’m feeling real good about things to come.

Side note: Is it just me or do both Jay and Perdie look thinner and a bit tired as of late? As the mains (and Jay had Covid around this time right?) I guess they work some pretty grueling hours? I’m glad they get a break now for some RxR until next season.

Other fun things:

Gordy owning a motorcycle and showing up at a crime scene with it!

Kumu being awesome and just downing her drink.

Rick and TC struggling at the gym was nice comic relief, especially as they came to complain about it to Higgy (who could probably do five hours at the gym without dying). 

Higgy looking fine with the bold lip look there at the end...

I guess I’m either just in the best mood or this was just one of the absolute best episodes of the entire series. Go Jay! Go the writing and production team and just everyone. I’m so excited for the two last episodes of the season and I can’t wait for sneak peeks and the promo for 4.19!

Stranger THINGS 4 PART 2 SPOILER WARING !!

Okay I have a few observations and a major complaint but overall I really LOVED this season.

1. How are they going to do a time jump with that ending? The upside down is in Hawkins. So how? Also there wasn’t any scene where Noah had a reason to be in a harness. So did they film extra stuff and will have it in Season 5 before a time jump like a tiny prologue or something?

2. The girl that Robin likes having a boyfriend and then we feel bad for Robin and then at the end the girl is acting suspiciously like she has the hots for Robin and the boyfriend is gone. Thus potentially introducing a bisexual character, and maybe just maybe hinting what is going to happen with Byler.

3. Jonathan and Nancy were very awkward with each other when they were reunited and Jonathan lied about the college letter. I don’t think they will make it through season 5. I think she will end up with Steve again ( and please don’t fling hate at me but I kind of want her with Steve )

4. Eddie :( I cried.

5. Max and Lucas scene before El saved Max I was sobbing like a little girl.

6. ThE HEARTBREAK of Will lying to Mike about how El commissioned the painting and then turning around and crying. Noah acting was brilliant and you did see a look of confusion cross Mike’s face briefly. I think this will be brought up in the future / season 5. Remember El’s letter stated that Will was painting a lot, and wouldn’t let her see it, that she thought he liked someone , and was thought he was making the painting for a girl. This implies that she did not know what the painting was and so Mike will eventually realize that the painting wasn’t a ‘gift’ from El that she had Will paint. Mike’s clueless but he isn’t dumb. So I’m not counting Byler out for season 5 just yet. I also wanted to point out that this scene was beautiful and it just show how selfless of a character Will is. He legit is putting his own feelings aside because he wants both Mike and El to be happy. We also know from Noah that Will is in love with Mike and Wants to be with him ,and yet he isn’ t acting on these feelings . He doing everything in his power to encourage Mike to fix things with El.

5. Mike’s adoration of El keeps being superficial. His whole reasoning for fearing she won’t need him is because she is super hero, and that he loves her so much because she is aSUPER HERO its just so frustrating to watch. I feel like the characters are just stuck in their season 3 storylines. I feel so bad for El because she Deserves to be with someone who loves NOT cause she is a super hero. I Feel bad for Mike because he obviously is hung up on the super hero thing for a reason. I feel horrible for Will. If they don’t intend to make Byler canon why make will fall in love with Mike? Why was Mike being so weird towards Will. What was with the awkward hug, the ‘ tense emotional music’ scenes. Why does he keep looking over at Will? It just doesn’t add up unless there is something more. I m even more convinced cause of the ILU scene.

SO THIS BRINGS ME TO MY ONLY COMPLAINT

So before I bring shipping into it I wanted to say that I HATED this not just cause of Byler but because it cheapened what could have been a beautiful moment between El and Max. El’s platonic love for Max should have been what gave her the strength to save Max ( which she wasn’t even able to do cause Max still died! It wasn’t till later that El could save her!!)

I know what they were trying to do there with that cheesy cliched I love you, and yeah El is strong enough to resist Vecna cause of the power of love but it just cheapened the whole scene.

If they wanted to do a cheesy cliched ‘love’ saves the day moment then why wouldn’t they just have it be something to do with Max and El. Why couldn’t they have given us a new ‘memory’ where El thinks of Max of a sister or something. It just felt cheap and tried to make something that should been about friendship into romance.

Now onto my rant about this moment from the byler/milkvan pov. That forced crappy very unromantic stupid lame hetro forced crap that was the Milkvan ILU. It wasn’t’ that great of a speech, it was not Finn’s most brilliant performance. Mike couldn’t even say it on his own, Will encouraged him to do so. (Which really can we stop torturing Will) Then when Mike does say it what does he tack onto it? “ you can do anything your a super hero”. The whole speech was about her being a super hero and How he wasn’t good enough BECAUSE she was a super hero. Ummm 🤔 sorry Mike but that isn’t love that is hero worship. Then you have that scene in the car where Mike is staring at Will intently afterwards you see El looking at Mike looking at Will.

So is this suppose to hint that byler is still a possibility and El will clue into it? As much as I want byler to be end game it feels like they are just queerbaiting us on Mike’ side. Like if they intend to put them together next season like we all think they do , THEY NEED TO MAKE IT MORE OBVIOUS ON MIKE’S SIDE. Will deserves more then being in love with a ‘straight’ boy.

They could have added to the couch scene . Had Mike grab his hand or something instead of his shoulder. Like they could have given us a bit more cookie crumbs.

- Still baffled at how they blatantly LIED to us in interviews and reviews. There is nothing ambiguous about what happened Elizabeth legit thinks she is pregnant

- Why are they giving this cute bonding moment with Jane to SEYMOUR and not to Catherine??

- I love all the Mary and Elizabeth scenes it's going to be heartbreaking when their relationship goes to shit

- I hate rooster fights with a burning passion but still I really liked the scene because of Edward and Mary bonding (plus Somerset and Sir Pedro's commenting in the background)

- The Mary and Catherine argument... Chills literal chills

- That Elizabeth and Robert scene was so cute??? And the ost was beautiful??? I think I'm getting into this ship

- Wait that's it? Catherine died just like that?

- Gotta give it to Tom Cullen, he is a great actor and made Seymour a complex character (he still sucks and is a horrible human being)

- That scene between Seymour and Somerset in which they talk about their sister and Catherine is actually so good what the hell why are these brothers giving me emotions

- Something that I dislike about the show in general is that the ladies-in-waiting are just dead silent in the background until someone gives them an order. TSP was like the worst show ever but still the ladies had names and talked and danced and did stuff!!

- "Let them burn" what a subtle line, I wonder if it's foreshadowing something!

- "Marry me" THAT ARC WAS DONE. IT WAS OVER. WHAT WAS THE NEED OF THIS. I HATE IT HERE.

Ok episode 4 done! This is my fav episode until now. We had the most outstanding performances so far, and since there was no gross grooming of a teenage girl by her stepfather on my screen I was able to actually fully enjoy my watch. Unlike what we were told, the whole "Elizabeth is worried about being late" thing doesn't leave any room for interpretation and I hate it (as I also HATE that they reopened the plot which was already OVER with that last line). Also I really disliked that only Seymour was sad about Catherine's dead. But other than that? I thought this was a good episode. 7,5/10.

That took me nearly two hours to watch. Yeah I usually pause to type but I had to take long breaks after the hard scenes. It was a really hard episode to watch. A lot darker than it has been. I’m not really okay right now. It was emotional but a really good episode overall.

This is the last part of me providing my Thoughts™ and Feelings™ about Shadow and Bone as I watch it 'cos this one is about the finale:

They brought back Alina and Mal reaching out for each other, and oh, boy, was that heartbreaking! It’s so well done yet so painful

Mal's turn-around of "Time will do it for me" to "Your past will do it for me” when he let the volcra get the Darkling was so good. I literally clapped, even though I knew the Darkling would, obviously, live

Also, the ending of the Darkling emerging from the Fold after Alina and Mal saying he’s dead was a great yet predictable (in a good way) transition. And the way the Darkling said, “Follow,” and the merzost just came with him was chilling. That was a perfect way to end the first season in my opinion

Not to brag, but I said three things before Jesper, one before Kaz, and one before Nina. I think my theory about absorbing the Crows' personalities is more true than I initially thought it was

Remember how I mentioned how the ugliness and asymmetry of the antlers in Alina’s collarbone was such an amazing parallel to the pain she is in? Well, her absorbing the antlers altogether after releasing herself from the Darkling’s control and realising the stag chose to give her its power is just. . .WOW. I honestly don’t know how to express how beautiful that was

Also, my best friend did bring up a good point: where did the antlers go? Did they just go further into her body? Did she legit consume them into her body and they’re just gone? What happened? 😂

Can I talk about Nina and Matthias for a hot second? I honestly don’t think I felt so much for Helnik when I read the Six of Crows duology as I did in this last episode, so I have a lot to say. The chemistry is straight from the pages of the books, but it’s so much different physically seeing them interact than just reading about it. It’s also different ‘cos we are seeing the relationship develop between them than being thrown in the middle of it with backstory being sprinkled throughout the progression of their story. The two of them flirting and being cute was so lovely, but the fear in Nina’s eyes when she knows she has to make a horrible decision between Matthias being arrested or being killed and then the betrayal that is written all across Matthias’ face in that cell on the ship was just devastating

I know this isn't about this episode, but I realised I forgot to mention it attached to episode 6 (I think), but Ivan threatening Jesper with him knowing what he is was dastardly. Like, I know you have to have read the books to know what Ivan was saying 'cos Jesper cuts him off, and I love little Easter eggs like that for us, but the foreshadowing of that shit was good. Leave the people who haven't read the books with questions and the people who have in anticipation! God, I love that!

Jesper still missing Milo is so precious and, I hate to say it, a mood ‘cos me too. I wanted to see a surprise appearance from the darling goat, but I will take Jesper bringing him up twice as compensation

Speaking of Jesper being a mood, Jesper begging for the reassurance that Kaz has got their backs with a plan was so painfully relatable. Bro, I would have done the same thing in that situation

It hurts me on a spiritual level to be aware that five out of the six Crows were on that boat at once. I need Wylan. Y’all, season 2 better happen 😭

And I want more interactions between Inej and Alina and between Inej and Zoya. That shit makes my Sapphic heart go berserk. You can’t look me in the eyes and say there isn’t the least bit of gay tension between these women. And that means I am so looking forward to Inej and Nina interacting; I may pass out

In addition to that, Kaz saying he needs Inej added five years to my life. And I think the happiest he looked all season was when Inej said she’d go with him to pay off Heleen and then decide what to do from there. And Kaz being a believer is ✨bonkers✨ in the best way possible

Lastly, to end with something about my boy, Jesper saying that he still couldn’t shoot Ivan’s pretty face was fucking great. I also died laughing at him saying that the true wealth was the friends they made along the way ‘cos of course Jesper is going to be the one to make a real-world meme reference and, on top of that, make it about the goat! Amazing, beautiful, wonderful. As always, I love him dearly

My final thoughts on the show as a whole is that it is a great adaptation of the books, especially with the blending of the storylines from the trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. The pacing was something I honestly had to adjust to, considering I know so much of the source material, but I think it worked and was a good choice to help viewers unfamiliar with the books understand what is happening. And even though I’ve read the books, I was pleasantly surprised with the numerous twists and turns; I was invested in the show as a whole, not just for the familiar characters and storylines (that was just a bonus, tbh). I genuinely love this show and am willing to say it is now tied for my favourite television show with Orphan Black and Good Omens. I’m hoping desperately for a season 2, not just for Wylan and Nikolai, but because this was truly so beautiful and brought me a lot of happiness and peace during one of the scariest and most stressful times in my life

I just want to thank anyone who has read any of these things I've written about the show. I truly didn't expect anyone to read them or even really care about what I thought or felt, but it does mean a lot that some of you are willing to read them at all and then even give them a like. Thoughts about Renegades

ALRIGHT FOLKS, TAKE A SEAT BC I’M ABOUT TO KICK MYSELF OUT OF THIS FANDOM :’)

Not really

But I’m going to rant for a while so perhaps you can go grab a snack or something :’)

So…I LOVE Renegades and I always will but I’ve been thinking about some of the things that seem…off to me. Not that they’re a big deal ofc (because I love Renegades in a really dumb and blind way) but some of them are quite unpopular opinions among the fandom, so I’m finally going to share them in case someone out there feels the same way X’DDDDD

They’re not in any particular order. Here we go:

- I completely stan the idea of Nova and Oscar and Nova and Callum being brotp material, but I stan Nova and Callum way more, not because I don’t like Nova and Oscar, but because I think it was genuinely good (and healthy) for Nova to have a friend out of Adrian’s circle. I mean, she’s been isolated most of her life now, and when I realized she finally had someone of her own… like, a person she met with whom she connected without Adrian introducing them to her, was a HUGE step. Callum is one of my favorite characters in the whole series, and when the t h i n g  happened I was devastated for MYSELF *sobs* but also because MM took him away from Nova. She opened to him more than she ever opened to Oscar throughout the three books. Sorry not sorry :’).

- AS A YOUNG ADULT (I’LL BE 20 IN MAY, YOU GUYS) let me tell you that all these dumbasses act like completely normal teenagers and all their shitty decisions sound like something I would’ve done when I was their age. Actually, the Team Sketch really reminds me of my own circle of friends. I’ve seen you guys complain about Adrian acting extremely dumb for his age but GUYS HE’S FUCKING 17. WHEN I WAS 17 I WAS AS CLUELESS AS HIM. ALL MY FRIENDS WERE. AND IT WAS SO STUPID IT HURT BUT SHIT BE LIKE THAT SOMETIMES. I was the Nova among them. That is: I joined their group hella late and one of the guys became my crush. I was so dumb I told him he was my crush when I was defeated on the floor with a dislocated knee because I was having a breakdown and I legit thought I was D Y I N G. Teenagers.Are.Like.That.

- HOWEVER, EVEN IF I JUST SAID ALL OF THAT….And I want to believe all of you agree with me: I don’t justify Oscar. It’s okay being a dumb teenager, but you can’t just ask your crush to be your girlfriend during a PUBLIC EXECUTION. That wasn’t romantic. At all. If I were Ruby I would’ve been really offended, no joke. (AT LEAST WHEN I TOLD *MY* CRUSH WHILE I THOUGHT MY LEG WAS GOING TO BE AMPUTATED, WE WERE IN CHORUS CLASS. ALL THE GUYS WERE SINGING TO ME BC THEY THOUGHT THAT WOULD CALM ME DOWN. IT WAS A GROSS AND ODDLY SWEET MOMENT, YOU KNOW?).

- I feel like Ruby is…I’m not going to say mistreated, but…Idk. I feel like she’s trying her best and she’s kind to everyone in the group and in some parts of the books they just…forget about her :’). (This may be Marissa’s fault, though). Which makes me really sad, because she’s genuinely sweet and I felt like she was the most welcoming to Nova since the very beginning (Apart from Adrian, of course).

- I’m part of the “Leroy switched sides at some point” squad, but at the same time I believe he’s just very, VERY chaotic neutral and (I’m never giving up on this) since he loved Nova, he would just stick to the side where they promised to keep her safe, even if that meant being jumping back and forth between the Renegades and the Anarchists.

- I ALSO BELIEVE WINSTON MAH BOI SAW A LOT OF HIMSELF IN NOVA. To my particular point of view, his mental state was the most stable when she moved with them. He unconsciously tried to stop her from becoming what he’d become and the Anarchists realized that, so when they found Ace’s little human weapon being threatened, they just teared her away from Winston, which caused his mental health to go downhill again until he ended up all psychotic (which is how we got to meet him during Renegades).

- Honey had way more complicated issues than just being “evil”. Yes. She’s dead. And me defending her won’t make her less dead. And I know she got what she deserved because she was…completely out of control and Marissa tends to kill those who are too far gone (take Levana as an example). But I think that if she hadn’t neglected her own mental health so much she would’ve had a chance; Honey had good in her :’) maybe, before meeting Ace, she was a different person. Like, it’s mentioned she grew up in a small farm. I think she fell in love with him at some point and, by the way he talks to her sometimes, I’m *almost* sure he knew that, so he tried to take advantage of the situation to keep her in line, even though he had no intention to reciprocate her feelings. Sure, Honey is a manipulative brat, but she’s a hundred times worse when she knows Ace is around or when she knows she has a chance to get him back (she goes batshit crazy in the cathedral, you know?). Ace was a power-hungry sociopath/psychopath and she was a depressed, also power-hungry woman who was in love with him. And that’s a BAD combination. Honey Harper was hopeless… and I think she even showed some signs of Stockholm Syndrome.

- Still, Honey and Nova’s relationship reminds me a lot of my relationship with my dad. Theirs was a toxic relationship, but since I’ve been through that (still going through that), I refuse to believe it will be easy for Nova to overcome her death *that* easily. They loved each other in a…violent, weird way, but Honey was Nova’s mother more than Tala ever got the chance to be (because Ace took that opportunity away from her) and if Honey hadn’t been so –like I mentioned before- hopeless, they could’ve fixed their relationship until it was normal and healthy, because Honey showed signs of loving Nova, and Nova showed signs of loving her.

- Every death in Supernova had a very specific narrative purpose but, even if I hate Evander as much as y’all do, I think his death was done for the sake of the shock factor afgshja like, he died in such a sudden, meaningless way :’).

- Tamaya is nothing but wasted potential. You have a savage, feral, badass woman with w i n g s and the only thing she does is getting her fucking face burned and throwing fists with entitled teenagers.

- I LIVE for Simon and Hugh as couple, but (gosh, saying this makes me feel really guilty) the fact that they didn’t share not even ONE kiss throughout the trilogy made me feel really queerbaited :’). Same thing happened with Danna and Narcissa, but I think that was PLAIN half-assed.

-Why doesn’t Adrian has Simon’s last name as well? :’)

- ADRIAN NEEDS THERAPY AS MUCH AS NOVA DOES. LET’S BREAK THIS DOWN, HERE WE GO:

*So, we know that Marissa Meyer’s male characters are always really sweet and kind and wholesome and omg :’)…and then there’s fucking Jacin (whom I love, but that doesn’t minimize the fact he shall burn in hell X’DDDD) . I mean, he’s kind…to Winter and Winter only…and Cress…sometimes. When it comes to Winter, he’s capable of a lot, A LOT of things. He comes off as rude many times (especially to Cinder, during Cress) and…yeah. He looks like he could kill you and he could ACTUALLY kill you; I feel like the fandom moves Adrian to …whatever category Kai’s in….but I’m not sure that’s the case. Let’s analyze Cinder’s equivalent to Nova’s bracelet: Peony’s chip; Kai was mad at Cinder, FUCKING mad. But once he kinda figured out Cinder was grieving his sister and keeping the only thing she had left from her for emotional reasons, he didn’t, under any circumstance, no matter how much he hated Cinder at the moment, want that chip to be taken away from her. Kai had lost his father. He KNEW what it felt like and he didn’t want anyone to feel the same way, because he SAW Cinder suffer her little sister’s death. Adrian had lost his mother and he knew Nova had lost both her mother and her father AND her little sister; she had opened up enough to tell him that bracelet was the only thing she had left from her father…and when he learned Nova was Nightmare, instead of interrogating her, taking a sample of her blood or things like that, he straight took her bracelet. Because Adrian was hurt and he wanted her to be hurt too, so he took away the one thing that mattered the most to her and THAT WASN’T VERY KAI OF HIM IF YOU ASK ME. My point is, sadly: Adrian is ABSOLUTELY traumatized due to his mother’s death (who wouldn’t?) and now that he knows he indirectly killed her he will only get WORSE. He hated Nova for being Nightmare just because he thought she had something to do with Georgia’s death, so when things went to shit, he did her in the dirtiest way he could, making her feel hated and unwanted, which were Nova’s delicate spots afgshja…like, Adrian’s capable of a lot of things(just like Jacin). He NEEDS therapy. Now.

- The heated kiss scene during Archenemies is both heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time (besides…you know, heated). Nova’s so touch-starved she gets overwhelmed when Adrian suddenly gives her all the physical affection she didn’t have during her childhood. And…I feel it was a very intimate moment between both of them, because they were physically and emotionally invested and omg. This only makes my previous point (about the bracelet) more horrible, because I can’t imagine how she must’ve felt when he took away her bracelet with so.much.hatred.

-WE DESERVED TO KNOW THE CHANGES THAT WERE MADE TO THE SYSTEM BC TBH THE RENEGADES SYSTEM WAS SHITTY AF… It’s like…they claimed to be against what the Anarchists did but then suddenly they were doing the same things themselves. And I don’t think that’s fair. The Renegades acted as messed up as the Anarchists during Supernova. They wanted to EXECUTE a MINOR who committed MINOR CRIMES. I mean, what did Nightmare even do? Right, she tried to assassinate Hugh but she FAILED, and she neutralized Team Frostbite in SELF-DEFENSE and in Max’s defense.

- Besides, the way Anarchists were treated was...really inhuman. As far as I understand, they didn’t have access to public services or anything like that. What if they needed meds? Where did they get their food from? Did they have, like, fucking running water? Electricity? There are also three women among them and they get *periods*, people, and *period stuff* is expensive as fuck. Like, did they have to steal tampons? And if they did…were they chased because of it? Even though they had no way to get income in a legal way because they were Anarchists and being out there like normal people was against the rules for them? Lol?

- JESUS THAT SYSTEM REALLY NEEDED TO BE CHANGED LMAO AFGSHJA

-Also, Cragmoor? Wtf.

- AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, NOT BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY BUT BECAUSE THIS IS TOO LONG ALREADY: It think Nova and Evie have been apart for too long and it’s going to be hard for them to create a bond. They’ll have to get used to it, because it’s going to be confusing for Nova and, given the fact Evie’s personality is…like that, I think she’ll go as far to blame Nova like “But you were SUPPOSED to look for me.”

Apologies for any offensive language or comments that may appear. - I am not repeating stories anymore and will replace these stories with brackets describing what he’s talking about. - A lot of people are saying Greg is digging his own grave and making things worse for himself. Says here’s how reality functions, when somebody tells the truth they’re not always going to look the best. When someone’s lying to you, they’re only going to say things that make them look good or they’re condescending. An honest person who shot someone would just say they shot someone. A dishonest person would say, “I shot someone. Use it against me.” It’s a legit federal crime and they’re acting like it’s not a big deal. - People prefer Greg stays silent. - What he’s about to say is weird and horrible. Someone tweeted him that Billie has an OnlyFans for pictures of herself. He wants to say good for her because she’s an adult and there’s nothing wrong with it. He doesn’t see how you could shame someone for doing that. Every woman and man should have a right to sell pictures to other adults, which is what Billie is doing with Ayalla. It’s totally cool and fine. Good for her. Maybe she’ll get 10 more subscribers today because he talked about it. Go subscribe to her. - Billie was the one person that wasn’t on a mission. Ayalla, Sarah and Shiloh are obviously on a mission. It seems Billie was encouraged by Ayalla. Really good friends only come along so often, someone you can talk to and trust. That’s what Billie has with Ayalla. Even though Ayalla hates his guts and made things difficult, but at least Billie has someone. - He’s a human and has flaws. He’s not going to act like a perfect hero. He’s done things right too. - He doesn’t understand why Sarah got a lawyer to silence him. All she has to do is make a response video. She only makes videos with others who are pushing her to say more things that aren’t true. She should be willing to face the public and tell things like they are. People could find the holes in their videos, but they probably won’t because they’d rather believe someone who says they’re a victim than someone they hated for years before this became a topic. If you’re innocent you could talk to the public. [Real victims of crimes don’t do that, Sarah should go after real criminal] - The witches- women from the Salem witch trials couldn’t say anything to convince people they weren’t witches. That’s why they call it a witch hunt. People already made up their minds and can’t look past their prejudices. They made up their minds. It’s like talking to cavemen. Brain dead. Greg’s not a witch. He just hung out with the wrong people. If he could go back, he would have never interacted with Shiloh or Sarah. He may have interacted with Billie. - People say he’s still in love with Billie. If you’re a human and you feel real deep love, no matter what they did to you it’s hard to kill a deep routed love. You could say it’s because he thought she was so beautiful or because they connected on such a level and had so many special moments together. He’s not going to pretend he doesn’t have feelings. He doesn’t love Sarah or Shiloh because they lied about who they were the entire time. Billie said they might be soulmates in front of Ayalla. They were in the car while it was driving on autopilot. Greg was like, “what are you talking about?” He heard people, like Shiloh, say that before and he didn’t believe it. How could they be soulmates? What about Kai? - Greg has no hatred toward Billie. He has frustrations with Sarah and Shiloh because their entire personalities were fake and they would lie about their entire identities. Billie would just lie about illegal drugs. [Sarah was plotting the whole time, spy book, she was over 18, NDA, blackmail, evil and illegal]  - Billie thinks he’s a joke and hates him, but he still has feelings. He genuinely got to know her. They had wonderful moments. He doesn’t know if Billie was lying about being interested in him, if she was that would be heartbreaking. - No one’s perfect, some people eat animal carcasses. You should watch somebody just like you and not someone you think is a witch. It’s not productive to watch a witch.

- Greg says the last video he made was really good and it’s a shame you’ll never see it. - He wants us to know he’s retiring his face from videos. Being a Youtuber is the most narcissistic job in the world. People do it for attention and they think fame feels good. - If you ever see him in public, don’t approach him.    Y/N washed her hands, eyes looking at her own reflection of the bathroom mirror. It had gone well. Better than she had expected. Nikki and Dom seemed to accept her right away and since she’d already met Tom’s brothers beforehand, they got along incredibly well. Drying her palms, she quickly retouched her hair and exited the toilet, turning the light off as she went towards the kitchen to help Nikki clean the table off, but soft chatter took her attention away.    “I don’t understand what you mean,” it was Tom, confusion clear in his tone    “She just doesn’t seem the right fit,” his mom in a low but soothing voice explained. “Your life is hectic, darling. As is hers, but Y/N… just doesn’t seem like she can handle your lifestyle. The paparazzi, the attention…”    “Mom, how can you say that?”    Dominic interjected before he could become more frustrated. “We just want what is best for you, son. She just… she is nice, without a doubt. She’s a sweet girl. But we just think she’s not right for you."    Y/N had had enough, grabbing her purse from the mantelpiece in the corridor and her coat from the coatrack, she stormed out of the house not even saying goodbye to Harry, who was just walking downstairs, the shock on his face evidence he had heard his parent’s conversation as well.    Tom’s head whipped around when he heard the slam of the doors.    “Harry, what was that?” he asked his younger brother who walked in the kitchen with an unreadable expression on his face. To Tom, it seemed like a mix of anger, disappointment and disgust.    “That was Y/N.”

   It was all it took for the Brit to rush out, panic settling in his stomach because the only reason she’d leave like this would be if she had heard what her parents had said. Desperately he looked up and down the street, hoping to see her walking one way or another, but luck wasn’t on his side as she must have caught a cab.    Tom ran a hand through his hair and quickly sped back inside his house, not caring about the protests and apologies of his parents. The boy simply grabbed his wallet and stormed outside.    Extending an arm, he hailed a taxi right as it started to rain, hoping and praying that he’d arrive at the station on time. The only place she’d go was her university dorm and that was a two-hour ride with the train. But even then, if he needed to, he’d hop on the next one.    Meanwhile, Y/N jumped out of the car and onto the pouring streets and rushed up the steps of Waterloo station. Her body trembled as she suppressed the tears trying to escape, heart, aching at what had happened.    She quickly inserted her credit card in the first free ticket machine and bought herself a one way to Uni. A single drop splattered onto the white and orange piece of paper, which she wiped away before returning her gaze to the big tabloids up above. Y/N didn’t have much time and as she made her way towards the platform a female voice rang through saying that the train would leave in five minutes.    Y/N felt her phone ringing nonstop inside her pocket, but she also knew who was calling her, so she just let it go through. She settled into an empty seat, and luckily no one sat beside the heartbroken girl. The whole train ride back to Uni she had her hood up, eyes looking out the window watching as the English countryside blurred in an indistinguishable pattern.    The skies had decided to release everything they had in them, as Y/N stepped onto the platform and was immediately drenched. But she didn’t even feel the cold of the water. Her heart was numb enough and so was her body.    They hated her. Tom’s parents, the man she had thought she’d be able to make a life with and grow old together, they hated her. Simply because she was a student and not someone who spent their time in the limelight.    A bitter scoff escaped her throat when she thought of it. How cruel of fate to put two pieces of a puzzle together, only to rip them apart, for the picture did not seem quite right.    Her finger stretched for the buzzer and after some fumbling and yelps from the inside, the flat’s door sprung open.    Lucy, her roommate and one of her best friends, stood there in her Harry Potter pyjamas, hair in complete disarray. She was just about to unload a bunch of questions on Y/N when smile vanished from her lips. “What happened?”    It was that simple question when Y/N finally broke. The girl fell into the other woman’s arms and sobbed. “They hate me,” her words were barely a ragged whisper. “They absolutely hate me.”    And that was it. Y/N said nothing more and nothing less. She simply allowed Lucy to lead her inside the apartment and her room. She left her door in a crack and undressed, letting the tears flow down in an endless stream. Y/N pulled out one of Tom’s shirts from her wardrobe but couldn’t tell herself to pull it on.  It was instinctual to wear his hoodies, trainers and T-shirts, to have his smell wrap around her, for it to be the thing that lulled her to sleep on the nights he was not beside her. But now, it only reminded the girl of what she lost. Or was about to lose.    It seemed like it was centuries later when someone addressed the girl. “Y/N,” Lucy’s voice was wary, as she opened the door to her room. “There is someone here to see you.”    The Y/H/C haired beauty’s stomach dropped. She knew who it was. There was only one option. As her Y/E/C eyes flitted up she saw Tom standing in the doorway, his eyes red and puffy, a desperate look on his face.    “Love,” the nickname was a choked back sob when he saw what state Y/N was in. “Please.”    He didn’t even know what he was begging for, his mind in shambles and complete disarray, simply hoping she understood.    A sniffle was his answer. “What are you doing here?”    She stood up from her bed and instantly Tom’s noticed how her usually tall stance was slumped over like she was trying to curl into herself and become smaller. It took him a millisecond to wrap Y/N in his arms there in the middle of her bedroom. It was a relief in itself- to feel her body pressed against his, like so many other times. And when her arms wove around his middle, his whole frame shuddered with a sigh of reprieve.    “Darling, they feel horrible, absolutely disgusted with themselves. They didn’t mean anything o-“ but Y/N stopped him mid-sentence.    “No, they feel terrible because I heard what they said, what they actually thought of us together.”    “Y/N, please,” the tears didn’t stop.    “Tom…” she gulped, swallowing down the bile threatening to rise in her throat before she said the words she had never wished, nor expected to. “I think we need to take a break.”    He forcefully shook his head, grip around her body tightening. “No.”    “Love, it’s what’s gonna be for the best. Your parents are right.”    “No, they, don’t know anything. I love you,” in a hopeless attempt to save what could be saved, he kissed her with all the passion in his body. And she responded with the same amount of emotion, but somehow this felt more like goodbye.    “Tommy…” Y/N whispered, arms still locked around his neck. “Please.”    His heart hurt more than it ever had. “How long?”    The girl knew what he meant. “A permanent one.”    “No, no, no, no, no!”    “Tommy…”    “No,” and then he full on sobbed. Head hidden in the crook of her neck, his whole body trembled in the girl’s embrace as she tried to soothe him by running her arms up and down his back. Y/N’s own nose was buried in that brown mop of curls atop his head, as she led them both to her bed and laid down, tears splattering onto her pillow.    “It’s for the best,” she whispered, even her non-existing voice cracking.    “How can it be, when I’m losing all of the light that was in my life?”    Y/N’s already broken heart shattered in millions of little pieces and she knew, that picking all of them up would be impossible. “You have to look at this as an investment in the future. Later in your life, you’ll thank me for doing this.”    Tom’s only answer was a vigorous shake of the head as he clung onto the girl harder, almost definitely leaving bruises, and tears flowing anew. His whole body vibrated in Y/N’s arms as they laid together and stayed entwined like that. Soon enough Tom was pulled into a deep sleep, exhausted from all of the heartbreak, but Y/N couldn’t relax, so she did the only thing she could- she called Harrison.    “Where is he? Everyone’s worried sick.”    “He’s with me,” Y/N’s voice was thick with sorrow. “Can you please come and get him?”    “Yeah, yeah, of course,” she could hear the hesitation in Harrison’s tone but then he asked it. “What happened?”    For a second, Y/N stared off into space, brain trying to collect all the thoughts while simultaneously attempting to now break down once more. “He’ll, umm, he’ll tell you everything. Just, please come and get him.”    “Okay… I’ll be there in a couple of hours.”    “Thank you,” Y/N got the response out before she took in a shaky breath. “Thank you.”    She spent an hour and a half like that- Tom’s snoring form resting on top of hers, Y/N’s fingers gently cradling through his curly brown hair as he rested, with both arms tightly wrapped around her middle. Like he was scared that she was some kind of a dream, a mirage that would disappear once he came closer.    Y/N saw Lucy walk past by her room, her door being cracked open and the other girl had a sorrow-filled smile on her face. Her ears perked up when she heard two voices conversing. A male and a female. Harrison had arrived.    It would be a lie if Y/N said she hadn’t wished for the traffic to be horrible if she didn’t want Harrison to take four more hours to arrive, but the fantasy she was in had to end at some point.    With a heavy heart, she removed one of the hands from Tom's back and gently shook his shoulder.    “You gotta wake up, darling, Harrison’s here to pick you up.”    Y/N heard a deep rumble and felt his grip tighten.    “Tom, please. Don’t make this harder than it already is… we both know this has to happen.”    Those words did not help one bit as the boy started to cry once more. “But it doesn’t. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. I love you and you love me. That's the only thing that's supposed to mean anything.”    His head lifted up from where it had rested on Y/N’s chest and she couldn’t help the soft quirk of her lips. He always looked so cute right after waking up. And even with reddened cheeks, he was still the most beautiful man she’d ever met. Had ever had the honour of calling hers, even if only for a little while.    “All dreams must come to an end, Tommy,” she gently cradled his cheek. “And there is no one else who wished more, that they could live in this castle of clouds we’ve created, but when the wind blows, they have to disappear. It’s just how life is.”    Y/N leaned up and with her, so did Tom. Reluctantly, she untangled herself from the strong arms she had grown so used to having woven around her and stood up.    “Come,” Y/N extended her palm. The weight of his rugged hand in hers was the rightest thing in the world. But already it felt foreign. Almost dirty, like it was a sin to be even touching him.    “I won’t let this be the end,” Tom announced an unmistakable sense of determination apparent in what he said as he exited the dorm.    “Tommy,” new tears sprung to Y/N’s eyes at the love of her life’s words.    “I won’t,” and with a last kiss to Y/N’s lips, Tom followed Harrison to his car.    This was not the end. He’d make sure of it.

Also, ok, I just need to rant- I’m so fucking riled up about my little cousin’s teacher. They have to do this thing at school where you read a book and then talk about it (basic shit) and I met him on the bus today and he suddenly tells me that his grade got lowered because there is a movie based on the book (Catching Fire to be exact). How fucking dare the teacher! How incompetent and unfair of her to do so, simply because she doesn’t know the difference the movie has and the book has. Also, there is a thing called google where you can easily find the differences between the two mediums as I’m sure some fans have made dozens of lists where we bitch about the stuff that was left out. I know this is unrelated, but it just pisses me off when the people who are responsible for shaping our future are so unfair to them because of some shit they themselves don’t know. I’m just so fucking mad!!! UUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!

my top 10 series of 2019~

aka i gush about shiz i watched this year for waaaaaay too long lol... 

i watched a lot of stuff this yr (well... it felt like a lot? there’s a lot more i wanted to watch but i’m terrible at time management lol...) so let’ssss explore that in a ~numbered list~ lol

(spoilers - there’s a lot of gay shit here lol... what can i say, twentybiteen really pulled thru lol)

10 - Stranger Things (series 3) 

i know some people didn’t like this series, but i legit thought it was really good lol... i felt it had gone back to the style of the 1st series a lil more? (whereas series 2 had felt a lil disappointing in a way??) & i loved all the new characters introduced (robin is a personal fav, obv), & the whole splitting off into the lil groups was really effective in not just feel like it’s always the same group together, and it also allowed for some interesting character moments!

visually, stranger things always looks amazing! but i thought the whole summer/july 4th vibes really made it especially stunning tbh... as most things on this list, i’ve only seen it once, so i would like to rewatch it at some point (actually wanna do a full stranger things marathon tbh i was trying to explain what had happened in the show to my friend who stopped watching it early in series 1 & it was so difficult to remember exactly what had happened in it lool... ) 

there were obv things about it that i wasn’t as big on, like the whole evil russian-invincible guy was v cliche and kinda silly, & some of the actions scenes were a bit awkward(?) feeling... but i’m a sucker for any 80′s style media so those things just reminded me of the goonies or some shit lol

9 - Ghosts 

actually the funniest & cutest series ever tbh!!! as someone who grew up with horrible histories with the original cast, this just made me immensely happy to see the whole team together again! the humour style is v similar to horrible histories too btw, though i feel they let themselves have a lil more ‘dark humour’ than in that (since this is more a general audience, whereas hh was definitely more aimed at kids tbh... tho they still won a comedy award for it lol! actual legends lol anyway...)

only downside is that it’s only 1 series atm & it’s pretty short... but i know there’s gonna be a new series at some point so i’m v excited for that!! i feel there’s sooooo many places they can go with the concept (i.e. exploring how/when the other characters died (like kitty!!! i need to know her story lol i love her!), maybe introducing another character who can see ghosts?? like a medium/psychic or something/etc ...) but legit, please watch this if u haven’t!!! 

8 - Good Omens

this pretty much took over the internet this year lbr lol & tbh i’d def say it was worthy of the praise!! ineffable husbands aside, the main story is super engaging and enjoyable, with some really awesome side characters (& some of my fav character designs in anything ever tbh!!) but definitely the biggest draw was the ‘6000 years mutual pining’ romance which they did so well lol & it was something that was genuinely so lovely to watch tbh!! i also really loved the ending message of the show! i really hope to rewatch this next year when i think it’s gonna be aired on british tv at last????

downsides would be that the plot can be a bit confusing at times? but maybe that’s just me being dumb lol... but i imagine it’s a lot easier to understand if u’ve read the book lol?? i don’t have a problem w/ aziraphale & crowley not being “explicitly” gay or whatnot (i know i’ve seen some people annoyed with this?), since the whole idea of their relationship is so much larger than just them bonking or whatevs lol? (in general i think more media should have less focus on kissing/intimacy as an indication of love/romance... which is something i’ve already talked about lol)

oh, and the title sequence is INCREDIBLE lol i seriously loved it so much!!

7 - Killing Eve (series 2)

finally finished this the other day & it was so good!!! i really love the dark comedic tone of the show tbh & i def feel there was more of it in the 2nd series then the first! i also liked the further development of villanelle & eve’s relationship, which is obv the highlight of the show tbh! there was also a nice lot of twists tbh, though i’d say it was a lil less intense than the 1st series? (overall i’d say i prefer the 1st series, but the 2nd was a fab continuation... btw i also watched the 1st series this yr lol)

negative points are that the plot wasn’t quite as interesting as the 1st series... i think cos the focus of the murders was taken off of villanelle that we lost some of that drama from the 1st? i thought the ghost was gonna be a more integral part but she was kinda weirdly pushed aside once we learnt her identity? & the creepy son dude just annoyed me lol (but i suppose that was the point lol...)... so like yh there were lil things that didn’t engage me as much as the first, but overall i still really enjoyed it lol

this is def fulfilling the hannibal-shaped hole in my heart tbh... (another series i finished this yr...)

6 - Dark Blue Kiss the series

look, it’s no surprise this is on my list lol... i was hella hyped for this series when it was announced last yr, even though my expectations were VERY LOW after kiss me again the series (which, lbr, is a massive mess lol... like it’s My Mess tho)... but for real, this series really exceeded all my expectations... & then some! like i’m legit shook at how good it was ngl! especially morksun’s storyline, which was by far my fav in the show (as much as i’m petekao trash lol...) also, i was surprised by how genuinely pretty this show is! esp in comparison to kma (like i know i keep going on about the goddamn bruise makeup but it is so ugly in kma, but they really did a great job in dbk tbh!)

ok so there’s a lot of flaws lol... like... a lot (i’m already complained a lot so i won’t bore u with that rn lol...) but for real, the thing that i love the most about this is the discussions of coming out/homophobia/general young people struggles/etc etc which is so refreshing to see in these series! like i love that despite the cheesy tropes, it still knows when to be serious & genuine...

5 - He Is Coming To Me

another thai series, i believe this has the same director as dbk? (don’t hold me to that tho...)... legit one of the best, if not the best, thai series i’ve ever seen tbh! so adorable, so well acted, so funny & heartwarming like... legit it’s so good!! i was already excited about it from the trailer, but the way it really delivered on the emotionality, whilst keeping it lighthearted, was truly wonderful tbh! the main actors did a brill job i gotta say, and all the side characters were amazing too (there really wasn’t a character i didn’t like i’d say tbh? i need to rewatch tbh... there’s a lot i’ve forgotten since this came out p early in the year lol)... also, visually it’s so pretty!! i swear the cinematography in these thai series just keeps getting better & better & it def improves the watching experience tbh!

a down point would be that the first ep is a bit slow/awkward to get in to... & i think it def could put someone off? but i’d say to stick w/ it since it just keeps getting better & better! i’d actually say there isn’t really anything else i didn’t like about it ngl? it’s just so good guys... u really need to watch it!

4 - Russian Doll 

probs the only series on this list that i actually actively went to rewatch straight away lol (didn’t do a full rewatch btw)... it was SO good for real! i already loved the premise lol (it’s basically groundhog day, which is already such a great film, but they explored those ideas even more in this which i loveeeed) the leads are fantastic, and the story is generally so interesting!  plus the editing & song choices are really brill tbh... 

my one complaint would probs be that the series loses a lil momentum at certain points (esp later in the series), but it still keeps ur interest, and the ending is really well done too! i know there’s gonna be a 2nd series, so i’m really hoping it’ll be able to live up to this one, and also explore more of the characters/concepts/etc! i’m def hyped for it tbh!  

i feel like this series is simultaneously underrated and also v well known lol?? like i know everyone sees that ‘thursday! what a concept’ meme but i feel like i didn’t see as many people talk about it as much as other series this yr??? 

(for my top 3, i’d say i love them all equally/for different reasons... so the order they’re in is changeable lol)

3 - Gentleman Jack

one of the greatest bbc series of the year, maybe even the decade lol! actually a masterpiece of cinematography, incredible acting, gorgeous costumes, beautiful depictions of love and intimacy, hilarious characterisation & just generally a wonderful series!! like i can’t praise it enough! it’s literally everything i could ever want from a series, and more!!!!!!! like everytime i think about it i just feel like ‘!!!!!’ constantly lol... like... what did we do to deserve such a series for real?? something that i esp loved was that i vividly remember not that long ago w/ people complaining about the bbc for having minor lgbtq characters in things, so to have a actual main lesbian couple series be on prime time bbc telly is kinda mind blowing lol... like.. i know we’ve got a long way to go, but it does make me immensely proud!! 

i have no complaints lol... other than - needed to be longer (i think we’re getting a 2nd series right???? i hope so tbh!!)

2 - The Untamed 

look, i don’t make 15 piece series’ for nothing lol... this show really got to me ngl... like i knew it was gonna be amazing from seeing tonnes of mutuals start watching it & praising it.. .but ohhhhhhhh boy i wasn’t reading for the angst and heartbreak and just generally how invested i’d be in all the characters lol... like genuinely there’s so much to praise about this show! it may not be as super ‘polished’ as some of the other shows on this list, but it really has so much heart and hard work and dedication put into it which really shows in the final  product!

there’s obv issues with it, but i feel like it’s kinda unnecessary to go over them lol? there’s so much more of this series that has brought me genuine joy, the biggest being the fact they were still able to depict a really beautiful, loving and /romantic/ relationship despite the strict censor is truly incredible lol!! like w/ good omens, it just shows what you can do to depict love/romance without having to over-sexualise something...

i feel like i’m saying less for these top 3, but it’s just cos i’ve already gush to high heavens about how much i love them lol... 

1 - HIStory 3 - Trapped

you - *pretends to be shocked that this is my number 1*

yeh... no surprises that this is in my top 3 lol... what can i say that i haven’t already screamed about for months??? this series truly surpassed any expectations i could have had for a HIStory series... the story line is complex & pretty well done (it’s not perfect... but nothing is so....), the characters are wonderful & also brilliantly acted! i think the thing that i love the most is that the director wanted to create a series that wasn’t just a cheesy gay series (don’t get me wrong, i loVE cheesy gay series’ lol... ) but also would have a more interesting, well developed & more ‘mature’ story line (i think esp in comparison to other HIStory series’ which are usually school/uni based)... it’s also one of the few lgbtq series i’ve seen that isn’t just about ‘first loves’, and doesn’t place a big emphasis on a sexuality/identity crisis... it’s just so unabashedly a mystery-romance drama, which is just so refreshing to see! & i genuinely hope we can see more series like this, where gay characters don’t need to ‘prove’ themselves in order to be in a series or to be in relationships (which it often feels like, where writers need to explain /why/ characters are gay...)...  

phew... that’s a lot of text lol, just like w/ the untamed, i feel like i’ve already talked about the negative points of the series (plot holes, awkward moments, weird editing/sound choices, bad tropey plots), but the positives of this series seriously make it worthwhile, and i’m just so so SO happy this show exists lol...

all 3 of these series have a special place in my heart of inspiring lots of my own exploration of art, as well as writing, which has been really crucial in me understanding what i wanna do with my life (i know that sounds kinda weird, but at the start of the year i really didn’t know what i wanted... and i wasn’t even sure what i was good at lol... so thru these shows i was able to discover a lot more about my own style of working & thru all of them i was able to meet some wonderful new people on here which has made 2019 actually one of my most enjoyable years on tumblr! 

this has been an...... interesting year lol... but definitely these shows made it just a lil bit better!!! 

Happy new year to anyone who actually read thru this & let’s hope 2020 brings us even more brill shows ~~~

i... i do not know how to feel. i feel heartbroken, on a level i can't describe. i always... in the back of my mind, i always hoped all the pcs would make it to the end, even though i didn't always like everything they did. i always thought they would pull through. but this... it was heartbreaking. and it was beautiful. and it was redemptive. and it fit into the narrative arc of ned's character and his life so well. ned was my least favorite of the core three, but now... he's a fictional character and i feel bad for not appreciating him while he was here. and its a testament to the power of clint's acting, and griffin's writing, and the entire mcelroy family's ability to suck me so deep into a narrative that i feel like i'll be grieving ned chicane for the next week or two at least. there's still about 23 minutes left and i don't know how i'm going to make it though any of them.

Game of Thrones Theories

It’s always fun to throw these out there and read them again after things have gone down. So here is my revised theory list, as my predictions have altered somewhat...

ARYA STARK

Hate to say it, but I think she’s gonna die. She was obsessed with legends of heroes as a child... and now she is one: Arya Stark who disguised herself as a boy with her sword Needle, favorite of the Many Faced god, who completed revenge on those who murdered her family, killer of the untouchable Little Fnger, and slayer of dragons. I added the last one, because I KNOW she is going to kill an ice dragon with that spear. She is going to be the source of so much inspiration to bards, but she is going to be cut down in this war against the Night King. “Okay... today...” She will tell the god of Death, “But not this second...” as she does one last amazing feat to give the good guys the tipped scale they need...like a bad ass boss. Gendry will listen to her hero deeds through songs for the rest of his life, bitter sweet smile on his lips for his first love and the most bad ass woman he ever knew.

GENDRY BARATHEON

Obviously I love the Gendrya ship, that’s why they come first to my mind, but I don’t think they are fated to be together. Their love is true, but she never wanted to be a Lady in a castle. And I don’t think she’s going to survive to the very end. But I do feel that Gendry is being built up to take the iron throne. That this series is going to end how it began; the wheel will not break, but it will wear down. But this time... a Baratheon and Stark will rule... as it should have been the first time. Gendry will have bard songs to remember his first love Arya, but he will be in matrimony with Sansa. It will be a political move... but as he is kind, she is beautiful and witty... it will work. Love... not sure, but he’ll be true to her, unlike Robert. Oh... and there is still a chance that he could be legitimate...but I’ve already written about that and don’t want to take the time to write it all up again. Short version: It’s all Jamie’s fault the Cersei is crazy and Gendry was raised by a blacksmith.

SANSA STARK

There was a time that I hoped that Sansa would renew her marriage to Tyrion, for numerous reasons (I might have shipped them at one point..), but I feel that Sansa is no longer bewitched by the idea of being married for the sake of love. It is obvious that the north looks to her as their level-headed ruler, and she becomes more and more like her mother every day... so I feel that she’s going to be on the throne... and pressured to marry Gendry Baratheon. They will have a long winter to turn him into the king figurehead he needs to be... but Sansa is the one pulling the strings and whose council he trusts. It will be political, but they could grow to lust for each other and...who knows... love? The fact that they both love Arya (though for different reasons) is just more common ground.

BRAN STARK

I don’t care. But I feel like the three-eyed raven does more harm then good. Pushes people away. And when his plan totally fails, we’ll see that everything was going to play out exactly the way it would have even without his “help.” Hello I can see everything that has already happened: WORST SUPER POWER EVER. Seriously, warg some crap to make things better for everyone instead of making them feel self-conscious for things they can’t control! I truly believe that the death of the “memory of man” is a good thing...all these prophecies and fates make everyone feel trapped... instead of letting everyone carve their future with bold uncertainty. I’m calling it now... death of three-eyed Raven is a GOOD thing. It will help wear down, or break the cycle.

JON SNOW

He never wanted the throne, and I don’t think him finding out who he is has changed that. It’s only there to add drama and tension. I do feel that he’s going to have to play out that prophecy of killing his beloved, Daenerys... because DRAMA. He’s going to end up either taking their boat baby elsewhere to be raised or he’s going to die. I would like to think he would survive... because I don’t think Dany is going to make it... and the dragon line will continue... though maybe not with the dragons...

MOTHER OF DRAGONS

She dead. The days of commanding mythical creatures and magical people are coming to an end. Drogon will die by the Night King’s Dragon, which will be able to HURT DANY WITH IT’S FLAMES since it is not regular fire... so her mortality in battle will come as a hard blow. Strip her of the muscle, which was gained with muscle and dragons, take away dragons and you have a very vulnerable woman with no real know-how to lead or inspire loyalty. So really, in my opinion, her usefulness is going to run shockingly low once the NK army mows over her 3,000 like nothing. Except for drama. So... boat baby and turning against Jon...and having to be killed by him...for....yah now. DRAMA. I’m sorry, but I’m just over her. 

CERSEI LANNISTER

I think Jamie will be responsible for her death, but not in the way that we think. I think she is going to legit kill him. And possibly his gold hand will come into play of her death...whether by being bludgeoned by it (*cough* by Brie of Tarth *cough*) or being melted down into a sentimental weapon to killer her with (*cough* by Brie of Tarth *cough*).

SIR BRIENNE OF TARTH

Oh she gonna LIVE, baby. She gonna team up with The Hound to take down The Mountain. She gonna put the Mad Queen down. And then she gonna be head of the King’s guard. Because that’s how you crush the wheel of sexism, baby!

JAMIE LANNISTER

Dead. Just... dead. He’s gotten redemption, he’s pissed off Cersei and at times is responsible for her madness... so... dead. It’s time. And I’m sure it will be sentimental and in the arms of a gorgeous lady knight which is more than he deserves... Or crumpled up by the Mountain.

TYRION LANNISTER

He’s my fav. He’s my boy. But I don’t know if he’s gonna make it. How nice would it be if he did... that the one that everyone mocks as being weak and useless and ugly makes it out on top...but I just don’t know. If he doesn’t make it, may it be on his witty terms, and not like a coward.

I don’t want him to die... because his redemption has been heartbreaking and sincere, but I also don’t want him to live with the memory of what he’s been through. I could see him dying honorably, and it would be a sigh of relief to him.

So I’ve always had a theory that the white walkers and the long winters are basically a reset button for mankind when things get too immoral, incesty, and just unbalanced...so while they are terrifying and it seems horrible that they take infants for their army and slaughter thousands.. look at what the human kingdoms are doing: burning little girls, sacrificing infants, slaughters at weddings, using imprisoning and torturing in the name of righteousness, brother and sister joining in lust, conquerors called messiahs... it’s an unholy mess and the white walkers are like “yucccccck... let’s just mow this over and see if anything worthy crops back up in the spring...” This whole summer verses winter... it’s a tale as old as time: death must come in order to purify for a hopeful spring. It’s a cycle...and I think that the walkers are apart of the cycle when it comes to mankind. But if they are defeated, then mankind is going to be left to face it’s own morality issues, rather than blame an ultimate evil. Can mankind even handle that? And then there’s the theory that the NK is just cruising for a queen, which I find reasonable. And if he is...it’s going to be a Stark, as a call out to the Stark Crow that went mad for a White Walker Queen.

So those are some predictions. It will be interesting to see who gets killed tonight...

STAY AWAY FROM GUYS

So I’m back to being alone and sad... I’ve realized that I hate being alone and not having attention from guys. I legit feel like I’m dying and wasting my beauty lolololol and that sucks!

So after Meky I saw another two guys (I know, too much). Not at the same time obviously but close and hey you can guess it didn’t work!!! I got into tinder and found these two guys and went on dates with ten and kissed and for a second I actually believed we could have a healthy relationship. But of course not.

I’m sad about it. I think they only wanted to have sex with me and because they couldn’t (go Rachel stay strong) they abandoned the ship! It felt like horrible and I hated feeling the heartbreak again.

Ive been so heartbroken this year Jesus. It’s like I can’t find someone who actually wants to date me and like me and not just wants to fuck me. It’s like I’m not deserving of this kind of love.

The year is not even over and I’m already so tired. My heart is still aching for Meky because he was the second big “love” of my life - the second person I had sex with - and he is totally ignoring me. Like the others.

I need to take some me time because I have a feeling this is pattern and I need to break it and o don’t want to suffer anymore. Plus I’m never goin on tinder anymore. It will just end the same way so there’s no point.

To me Yockey is arguably the best writer on the show; he is the only one whose episodes I love 100%. It really annoys me that he writes so few eps (last season he only did 3) while Bucklemming gets like 5 with like 3 of them being myth arc ones. Tbh the writing would be SOOOOO much better if he got to do more episodes. Out of curiosity who is your favorite writer?:)

I mean, I like most of the writers for different reasons, and can appreciate their stylistic differences, you know? I’ll get to that in a second, but first I’m gonna address the writing room hierarchy for a second… because that’s why the newer writers are only getting 3 episodes each, especially in a shorter season with only 20 slots available…

Dabb, as showrunner, gets the first and last episodes, and this year also the 300th. Last year he co-wrote 13.10 with Bobo, and in s12 he also wrote 12.09, as the post-winter-hellatus episodes.

Dabb’s been around for a really long time, and I get his writing style. Writing the season premiere and season finale every season now, he’s basically setting the foundation that the rest of the season rests on, and he gets the job done.

❂So that’s a total of 3 out of 20 accounted for.

Bobo is essentially next in line, and he has been getting 4-5 episodes per season since 11. 4 in 11 (co-wrote 11.17 with Dabb), 5 in 12 (co-wrote 12.19 with Meredith Glynn), 4 in 13 (co-wrote 12.09 with Dabb). I don’t know if he’s going to have 3 or 4 episodes this season, so I’m gonna guess it will be 3 just for the purposes of estimation…

I LOVE Bobo’s writing. I LOVE that he’s still giving us such powerful Wayward-adjacent content despite the heartbreak of not getting the spinoff we all deserved.

❂So that’s a total of 6 of the 20 accounted for.

This brings me to the three newer writers on the team…

Davy Perez has given us some fantastic episodes. As far as I know, he’ll be getting three again this season. I mean, dude gave us cowboys AND tentacles… and Dean being a complete nerd for comics and horror movies, “I love you, I love all of you,” and Donna kicking ass in 13.11. How can you NOT love that?

❂So that’s a total of 9 of the 20 accounted for.

Meredith Glynn has written some of the most beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful character studies that we’ve ever had on this show. She gave us Cas fighting for himself and facing his issues in the Empty, she gave us Dean losing himself and finding himself, and she gave us THE FUCKING MIXTAPE. Heck. Her love for all the characters is just written in big loopy letters all over her episodes.

I don’t know if this information will change, because it’s italicized on Jess’ s14 spoiler sheet, which means it’s still unconfirmed, but Meredith is listed as having four episodes in s14… 5 & 8 are already confirmed, but she’s tentatively listed for 14 and 17, too… She did write four in 12 and 13, as well, so that seems legit. :P

❂ So that’s 13 of the 20 accounted for.

Steve Yockey. Heck he writes such rich, layered episodes. They are a meta goldmine that we could spend weeks analyzing. Isn’t it convenient we’ve got an extra week to revel in 14.06? :D He’s probably on the list for three episodes again this season, and we’re lucky to have them.

❂ So that’s 16 of the 20 accounted for.

That leaves 4 for Bucklemming… and while they have a long history of ickiness and terrible things, they aren’t entirely horrible. I mean, 14.02 got the job done. 13.22 did as well. Heck, 13.18 too. They do write to the themes, and even when they fall short of the other writers in terms of the layering and nuance and meta-level of love for the show, they’re there and they’re not going away. I try to focus on what actually matters in terms of plot advancement in their episodes, and side-eye their bizarre takes on canon and weird retcons that only seem to apply to their episodes.

(and honestly bless the other writers for all their little jabs at some of the eye-roll worthy stuff in their episodes… I am giving significant glances at all of them and sliding them all fresh baked cookies and shots of bourbon, because I see what they did there…)

But yeah, I love all the writers in general (and even try to see the good in bucklemming episodes, because I love this show enough to make the effort worth it to me…)

Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone Movie - Thoughts after watching for the first time

AHHHH I FINALLY WATCHED IT, this is hella long so i’m gonna jump right in but also if you are curious but can’t be bothered to read this much just scroll down to the end to read a short paragraph on my overall thoughts ashjhjsa HERE WE GO

OKAY SO opening credits are rolling and i’m FINE but then THIS SHOT opens the movie and i’m losing my shit

I legit started giggling uncontrollably and my heart started racing because it finally hit me THAT I WAS FINALLY SEEING IT ALL ON SCREEN like it’s happening and the vibe really hit me right then THE PRIVET DRIVE SIGN THE OWL ALL OF IT this opening felt SO GOOD it felt so right because the first sentence in the book is about the dursley’s living on privet drive and the owl and the music just give it that instant ominous magic vibe i love it i love it 

and then we get this bloody shot of cat McGonagall

and we watch Miss McGonagall LITERALLY TRANSFORM FROM CAT TO WOMAN THROUGH THE SHADOW ON THE WALL

AND it’s honestly the coolest thing i’ve ever seen i seriously loved this and i’m SO SO SO GLAD THEY KEPT THIS IN IT REALLY KICKS OF THE MAGIC like for me this really made me go “YES YES YES YES YES WE’RE HERE WE’RE DOING THIS” and from an artsy POV, it was just honestly a beautiful and cool shot. 

THEN THE TITLE

i’m sorry but I’VE GOT to talk about this right now so i don’t have to address it again but like THIS TITLE REALLY FUCKING HYPES YOU UP seriously, the music the lightning ALL OF IT it’s so loud and compelling and it makes you so excited. if you aren’t one to get hyped up by street signs and cats turning into women like me, then THIS will hype you up GURANTEED i’m in love with it i felt the chill go through my body RAIN STARTED POURING OUT MY WINDOW!! (i’m not lying you can ask my friend as my witness she knows cos i bragged about it several times during the stream sahsahj) anyway just saying IT MAKES YOU READY FOR MAGIC

and can i just say my fave part of this isn’t just the fact that the snake NODS when harry starts talking to it (although it’s high up there) but when instead of freaking out and going hOLY SHIT I CAN TALK TO SNAKES??? WHATS THAT ABOUT??? he just says very thoughtfully “i’ve never talked to a snake before” sjhashjasjh i love this kid i swear i’m sahjhjsa best kid to find out he’s a wizard honestly. he doesn’t blink an eyelid shashjahjs 

Dudley gets thrown overboard into the enclosure and when the snake says thanks to harry as he slithers on by, harry replies with a sly “anytime” like sure just call me whenever you need me to throw my cousin into an inhabited enclosure at the zoo, mate, i’m your man. sjhahjsah i love this i just,,,,,i really love this kid.

HARRY GETS HIS LETTER! (i love this shot)

and uncle vernon loses the plot and can i just say, how bloody boring you’ve got to be to hate magic? like can you imagine? i think harry seems to agree with me, judging by his cold hard side eye at uncle vernon nailing the mail box shut

seriously i love him so much (drink everytime i gush about harry, ya gonna get hammered ;) ) 

finally Harry makes a wish on his birthday and in return he gets a hagrid breaking down his door and telling him he’s a wizard.

IM A WHAT

Hagrid and harry hit up diagon alley and please let me spend a second to GUSH over the beauty of this set?? i’m just WOW like it amazes me how much work must have gone into this movie and it truly paid off. like it’s so so so gorgeous and not just the set, but the music in this scene and the whole vibe of it is so positive and magical and it truly gave me such a warm feeling in my belly im just im so in awe. okay okay i’ll shut up sahjsajh 

Harry finds out he’s rich, gets traumatised by the man giving him his wand which i must say WAS SUCH A COOL SCENE LIKE IT WAS SO FUN SEEING HIM TRY OUT THE DIFFERENT WANDS AND THEN HOW HE LITERALLY LIGHTS UP AND THE WIND BLOWS WHEN HE FINDS HIS BROTHER WAND IM it was sooooo cool AND he gets given hedwig by hagrid ❤️ YAY

im sorry i’m literally crying sajhhjsa at hagrid deadass abandoning harry at the train station it’s so funny sahjjhsa poor harry THANKFULLY he finds my fave family in the world because Mrs Weasley is basically shouting MUGGLES ashjahsj (best way to spot a wizard asjhasjh) and then I LOSE MY SHIT BECAUSE

RON AND HARRY MEET AND I LOVE THEM they are so pure my angels 💖 hermione shows up and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER like all three of them play it so so so well its so funny and watching it gives me nothing but warm feels THEY ARE SO CUTE and the facial expressions all around are amazing im in love with the trio 💖

Draco tries to befriend harry and harry SASSES HIM and it’s glorious, dumbledore welcomes us to hogwarts and tells the kids that they’ll die a painful death if they go the the third corridor and this is their response

prepare for this to be a theme for the series.

CHRISTMAS AT HOGWARTS IS PURE

THE INVISIBILITY CLOAK IS HERE !!! i don’t think i’ve said it before but i love how important the cloak is and we use it in every book and then we find out in the last book that it’s actually so much bigger than we ever realised <3 i love

and this is by far my fave scene in the whole film. i cried during this. it was so so so beautiful and so heartbreaking. the music was gorgeous and the way harry touched his should where his mum’s hand was and everything just :(( SAD

and then when he’s sitting down just staring at it for hours

and dumbledore explains it to him and tells him the dwell on dreams quote that i love so much just ❤️ i adore this whole thing so much it made me so sad but it was also so beautiful and important. i love. one of my faves in the book and movie

NORBET THE DRAGON IS SO CUTE, all three of them plus draco get detention and dumbledore sends norbet off to romania himself :((

after getting past fluffy the trio get stuck in devil’s snare and MY FAVE part is when ron is like “lucky we didn’t panic” ashjsajhashj

HARRY uses his flying skills and gets the flying key AFTER being hyped up by ron!!! so pure, this was also SO SO cool 

BUT NOT AS COOL AS THE CHESS PART literally so brilliant im in love with this scene

OKAY SLIGHT CRITICISM but i am sad the potion part was cut and i don’t think they mentioned that each part was made by one of the teachers because i loved seeing what each part says about each teacher when we find out what they created and the potion thing was so cool but that’s just a small thing and i get that you can’t add everything so it’s fine!! sahjjash 

WE GET TO THE MIRROR AND QUIRREL!!! and oh my god when he takes off his turban, voldy on his head is SO CREEPY

dumbledore visits harry in hospital and i have to say i love this dumbles a lot he’s so kind and gentle and he seems to genuinely care about harry i love it. i love their convo so much it makes me tear up ajahshsa im a baby

Slytherin’s success gets totally blindsided at the feast when dumbles awards the golden trio and neville with NEW POINTS that makes gryffindor win sasajjasjh

OKAY OVERALL THOUGHTS 

i LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MOVIE the music, the scenery, the design, the magical vibe, THE CHARACTERS. every single bit of this gave me so many feelings and i want to rewatch this a million times like i can’t stop thinking about it i just wanna keep rewatching it sahjjsha i feel so sajhshja I FEEL SO MUCH im so in love with this film and this story im i feel like im becoming more and more of a fan and it’s scary ashjas how much im falling for this fandom. i can’t think of anything else and this movie put all of it on screen for me and im in love. it’s perfect. 

THIS WAS SO LONG so if you read it all wow ashjsahjhajs im genuinely impressed and thank you 💖 i don’t think the other recaps are gonna be like this but i was just so excited COS ITS THE BEGINNING i got carried away and it turned into a beast. shajjhsahjas i can’t wait to talk about chamber of secrets tho IT SHOOK ME
