My eight gif set of Hiroyuki Sanada as Shinbei in Legend of the Eight Samurai (1983, Satomi Hakkenden), directed by Kinji Fukusaku.
The fourth gif... nothing screams more 'motherly love' than putting your son's hand on your tits 😅😵💫🤦♀️ certainly that scene was a *choice*
The last 2 gifs belongs to the most confusing 'sex scene' I've ever seen, given that one can just see 'skin' and not even who's belonging to, so it was a little useless to try to gif it 😆
Filed under 'missed opportunity to show a bit of a young semi-naked Hiroyuki Sanada'. Thank God the movie's costume department was on our side and we get rewarded later 🤣
#真田 広之#真田広之#4th gif... wtaf... putting his hand on her naked chest lol motherly love.. yes haha#hiroyuki sanada#legend of the 8 samurai#legend of the eight samurai#kinji fukusaku#shinbei#princess shizu#hiroko yakushimaru

Best Animation
Oblivion Battery
The Elusive Samurai
Blue Box
Beastars Final Season cour 1
Too Many Losing Heroines
The Stories of Girls Who Couldn't Be Magicians

Wind Breaker (“Absolute Zero” Natori)
Mashle season 2 (“Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” Creepy Nuts)
Best ED
Isekai Suicide Squad (“Go Getters” Mori Calliope)
Brave Bang Bravern (“Sounen no Shouzu” Ryota Suzuki and Yohei Azakami) There was no way in hell I was leaving this off the list. If you watch no other anime endings this year, please watch this one 😆

Frieren Beyond Journey’s End cour 2 (“Anytime Anywhere” Milet)
Too Many Losing Heroines ed 2 (“Crazy For You” Shion Wakayama) *I love the other 2 endings as well, but I could only choose one*😭
Best Japanese VA Performance
*I'm terrible with this category. I really don't know how to judge good voice acting performances at all*
Hasegawa, Ikumi as Masaki (Mayonaka Punch)
Ueda, Hitomi as Yoshino (Yakuza Fiancé)
Seki, Toshihiko as Muzan Kibutsuji (Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc)...This arc may have sucked, but he acted the shit out of it.
Inoue, Kazuhiko as Nyanko Sensei (Natsume Yuujinchou shichi)
Nagase, Anna as Harley Quinn (Isekai Suicide Squad)
Fujita, Saki as Koshi Torako (My Deer Friend Nokotan)
*I don't watch enough dubs to do nominations for English voice actors, but I want to shout out SungWon Cho as Senshi from Dungeon Meshi and Abby Trott as Ayase from Dandadan. They understood the assignment.*
So there you have it! My picks for the real anime awards of 2024! Don't take this seriously at all, it's just something fun I like to put together every year. I always try not to nominate the same things, but it's so hard to include a variety sometimes! 😅

I answered this on my blog so now you need to answer it on yours. Top 5 muscle girls?
13. Balsa from Moribito (It's really pushing it calling her a muscle girl but I think she radiated enough muscle girl energy that she counts because when I think of muscle girl she appears in my mind so that has to count for something)
12. Black Widow from Saturday Night Slam Masters (we ignore her base outfit in this house)
11. Ladiva from Granblue Fantasy
10. Sakura Ogami from Danganronpa
9. Illaoi from League of Legends
8. Darli Dagger from Samurai Shodown
7. She-hulk from Marvel (she was funny back in the day okay?)
6. Amiri from Pathfinder Kingmaker
5. Elle Ragu from Shadow Skill
4. Kassandra from Assassins Creed
3. Mirko - Original Character
2. Queen Meve from Thronebreaker (maybe muscle girl isn't a good descriptor for her but I really like her okay and you know she has to have muscle for all the shit she's gone through)
1. Cammy from Street Fighter 5 (she's considerably more buff in that game than in sf6)
#ask#kikicandoit#it hurt me not to include some girls like Erza and Yoruichi but in my heart I know they aren't close to being muscle girls

FEMALE MOVIE/TV RECS (PART 9 / ADULT & FAMILY ANIMATION)
got inspired from a recommendation post so decided to make a list of movies and shows with female-centric stories/female protagonists. since i can't post all of the genres in one post, i'll split it into multiple posts and y'all can save or add to the list as you wish. (disclaimer: i have watched most of these, but i only know about the existence of others. not every movie/show on these lists will be my recommendation. my recommendations will be beneath the list with reasons. also some of these are way better than others in terms of storytelling/performance--which is why i'll list my faves separately):
Common Themes/Tropes:
-Woman/girl is OP and gets bullshit from other people for it
-Heroine tries desperately to fix the world
-Leaving home to go on adventures for the sake of a dream or doing the right thing
-Sisters are a lifeline
-Women/girls can literally do or be anything
-Violence is the only answer men will understand
-The world is so big, grand and beautiful and she wants to see more of it
-Girls being the conscience of an entire society
-Things going ham when she reaches Boss Level
-Magic (and violence) are good things, especially paired together
-A man (usually a father or guy friend) is the only conscience she has left
-F*ck marriage there's bigger problems TM
-I must save my father/sister
-Serious mommy issues
-Has an animal companion or IS the animal companion (robots also count as animal companions in terms of function imo)
-Making friends with the monster
OF WHICH ARE FOR ADULT AUDIENCES:
Pantheon
Scavenger's Reign
Blue Eye Samurai
Arcane: League of Legends
Trese
HAVEN'T WATCHED:
Pantheon
Lilo & Stitch
Fiona & Cake
Star Vs. The Forces of Evil
Trese
Princess Mononoke
Green Snake
The Breadwinner
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Violet Evergarden
Barbie in The Diamond Castle
Monsters Vs Aliens
Epic
Finding Dory
Encanto
The Incredibles II
Tinkerbell: Legend of The Neverbeast
Brave
WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND:
Blue Eye Samurai (10/10) (super gritty, but the perfect revenge story, puts John Wick to shame)
Scavenger's Reign (8/10) (split story, but two of the main characters are women, and one is a black lesbian! fantastic animation, though don't watch if you're intensely trypophobic, it can be sci-fi horror)
Mulan (9/10) (one of the most perfect animated Disney classics)
Turning Red (8/10) (this movie remembered the tween era)
Tinkerbell (if you crave matriarchy, sisterhood, magic and female centric society and story, then you need to watch the Tinkerbell movies)
Wolfwalkers (7.5/10) (an anti-colonial, anti patriarchal, pro-pagan fantasy movie with beautiful animation and a very touching, female-centric story)
Arcane: League of Legends (10/10) (gorgeous animation, amazing writing, incredible performances, and don't get me started on the sisters that take centre stage--also, lesbianism and gender nonconformity!)
The Legend of Korra (8/10) (good writing, a badass protagonist, a fantastic cast of characters, beautiful scoring, beautiful animation, amazing action sequences)
PERSONAL NOTES
The Mitchells Vs The Machines is basically a drama between a lesbian girl and her dad who have to figure their relationship out while they're running from robots. It was full of heart and fun and had some good jokes in there. I'd definitely recommend it.
Raya & The Last Dragon is the first Disney movie with a gender non-conforming princess! It also has some of the best action sequences in any Disney animated movie, however it doesn't hold a candle to The Incredibles II, which stars Helen Parr as the main character of the film. It's one of my favourite films of all time because of how they depict Helen and the main villain of the story (a badass genius of a woman). Really pro-female films, even for all their flaws.
Abominable has some of the most gorgeous visuals I've seen outside of a Disney animation. The texturing and coloring is so vivid it makes my mouth water. It's far better than Over The Moon, but both have their own charm. Abominable and Home have very similar plots. Also, the girl in Home is voiced by Rihanna while Beyonce voices the queen of the faeries in Epic.
One movie that shares a similar theme (kindness to animals even if we don't understand them or they scare us) with Abominable is The Sea Beast. The Sea Beast is one of the best animations with a black female girl as a lead I've ever seen. There's also a badass black woman pirate. There are some scenes that could have been written (or colored) better, but I loved it either way. I think it was the first animated film to depict shrinkage for black hair! And it didn't lighten the skin or whiten the features of the black characters!
Many people view Frozen II and Brave as "almost" masterpieces whose writers ultimately failed them, and I can say that I agree to some extent. There are many things technically wrong with the movies. Minor details that set the pacing off or take away from the immersion. However, I still love both of them. I really love daughter vs mother and sister vs sister stories (that includes Tinkerbell: The Secret of The Wings) because there's so much to explore in such relationships. They also both have some killer soundtracks, some amazing visuals and well-executed action sequences. I've truly seen way worse than these two films, and the characters are mostly loveable.
The Breadwinner is an animated film about a girl dressing up like a boy under the rule of the Taliban so she can earn some money to help feed her family. It's scored very high by critics.
I'd also recommend The Owl House (even though there's some appeal to genderism in later seasons). It's the first time I've seen a bisexual animated character and the enemies to lovers arc with Luz and Amity is unmatched in cannon magic school stories. I also really love the depiction of The Owl Lady who is treated like a male character in that she is allowed to be non-maternal, single and old (and wrinkled), arrogant and boastful, all without the show trying to punish her for it. The Boiling Isles are also fascinating as a setting.
If you like The Owl House, there's a chance you'll love She-Ra. There were many things I found annoying about She-Ra, but my experience was mostly positive. I'm not the biggest fan of Catradora, but I do appreciate the drama. I loved the world-building and magic system mainly, so the character quirks didn't get to me as much as they have others. Also, amazing antagonists in this series. It could have been more mature, but it's still entertaining.
I also definitely recommend Home on The Range. It's a whole movie with talking animals, but there's no tomboy like the main female protagonist in a Disney movie. She is one of the most tomboy characters Disney ever made. Also, I love 2D animation and this film reminds me why. Also, the idea of a feminine, micromanaging old heifer, a bull-headed, roughhouse new girl cow, and a young airhead cow that can't sing going on an adventure across the wild west to save their human's (a sweet old lady with some bark and bite) farm? And they have to compete with a hotshot, asshole male horse who is young and fast? It's like the perfect western comedy but with cows!
Anyways, if you can't tell, I love animated stuff and a lot of these are my comfort movies.

ADMIRAL: "Fire, Lucky Shot! Let's show that bastard what we can do, eh?!"
She bellowed, as the crew members shouted in unison after her. You felt the magical energy concentrate in the coin, before she manifested several massive cannons that began to draw in the coins magical energy.
A blast of light surged outward.
It slammed into the belly of the whale, the massive beast letting out an agonizing groan as it fell backwards, MUSASHI scrambling to regain her position. It was laying prone, the stomach of it seared and singed as if it had been exposed to boiling lava- the pain must have been immense… that 'Lucky Shot' was immensely unlucky for anyone caught in the path.
However- it just served as set-up.
JAGUAR MAN: "Hang on, are we about to see something nuts?!"
DURYODHANA: "You better follow through!"
-
The Samurai landed on the belly of the beast, and began to focus.
A fog began to shift from the sea.
The legend of 'Ganryuu-jima' was foggy. None truly knew what happened on that island, with the exception of Miyamoto Musashi. This was a technique that held many masks, but one of the concepts was that 'none may know what happened upon that island'. What trickery was played, what heretical nature had occurred… had it been a pure sword-fight, or had there been foul play? Was this a battle of skill, or a battle of luck?
Two warriors arrived upon Ganryuu-jima, and only one left.
MUSASHI: "With my swords, I will sever the seas…!"
She crossed her swords in front of her-- and then, she was gone- lost in the fog.
No, she knew perfectly well where she was within the fog, but she had become 'lost to others', no longer able to be perceived.
MUSASHI: "Be completely and utterly crushed, as if trampled by the great yokai Onyudo! This is my--"
You heard her roar through the fog, the only things visible being the flash of cold steel- the dance of blades wielded by the sword saint made to sever all things without mercy or hesitation.
MUSASHI: "GANRYUU-JIMA!"
A spray of blood, the sea turning red.
The waters parted, a vortex of water appearing where the strike had occurred.
A massive amount of magical energy, surging and spiraling from that one 'point' as the incomprehensible technique had been triggered.
Silence, as the fog faded. Bated breath to see the results of the attack.
...The fog faded, and the whale remained.
Pieces of it had been carved away- but the fact that there was enough rent flesh to even identify it was impressive.
Just how durable was this thing…?!
No... no, it had stopped moving. Was it down? Was it dead?
ADMIRAL: "Back away, Samurai."
It lay still in the water-- no, it was beginning to sink, lowering itself into the depths. The samurai leapt off the beast, landing back on the deck.
The ADMIRAL jumped off her ship and onto the approached the center of the whale-shaped mass as she grabbed a small object, putting it in her pocket.
The 'ground' under her shifted as the massive whale began to reconstitute itself, flesh building itself back up as it began to fill in the spaces carved away.
MUSASHI: "It regenerates!?"
That was frightening.
That had to be the reason it was so difficult to kill, in addition to pure durability- it had taken two Noble Phantasm-class attacks head-on, and it was recovering. It sank lower and lower into the water, disappearing under the waves.
ADMIRAL: "The good news is that the process usually takes at minimum 10 seconds. In other words, it's your win. And I've got this- a valuable treasure in it's own right. Thought I'd have to wrench it from the bastard's corpse... but no, all I needed was someone to cut deeply enough into you.."
She chuckled, as you saw the PRIEST approaching in a dinghy. There was your ride. The bell began to toll.
10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5… 4… 3… 2…
The final bell rung.
JAGUAR MAN: "And it's a knockout! What a match!"
DURYODHANA: "I see. Impressive. Good show, everyone."
-
MUSASHI picked you up, jumping onto the PRIEST's dinghy. You looked up at the ADMIRAL as she beamed, the rest of the crew clamoring up to the deck, cheering wildly.
ADMIRAL: "Fellows! We celebrate until morn, and then we set sail when the sun is high! Spend tonight to indulge your spirits and say your final goodbyes, as we leave this place forever!"
CREW: "Yes, Admiral!"
...
...And that was that. Victory was yours, and the PRIEST returned you to safer ground as the 'arena' faded and you heard the cheers of the onlookers. You were almost certainly about to surge in popularity after this.
Safely warped back into MUSASHI's dressing room, she sat down, letting out an excited shout.
MUSASHI: "Hyoo~! Now that was a fight! Good job, Masters! No, good job me! Good job both of us, hehehe!"
She seemed to be in high spirits.
There was a knock on the door.
MUSASHI: "Come in, come in...! No autographs are being signed at this time, though~!"
The door opened, as GIUSEPPE entered.
GIUSEPPE: "Congratulations, Saber. Your Majesties. As agreed, I've staged a conversation with Hassan-i Sabbah for after this fight. I hope you didn't forget?"
MUSASHI groaned, waving him away.
MUSASHI: "Ugh.... I'm exhausted. Can we get a few seconds to bask in our victory?"
GIUSEPPE: "I apologize but... Unfortunately not, they insisted 'right after', and I couldn't find much room to argue."
???: "...Your 'Ruler' told us that you wished to speak to the Old Man of the Mountain. That is not an honor many receive."
The lights snapped shut. You heard the sound of multiple footsteps hitting the floor. The voice that echoed in the darkness was smooth and measured. It sounded close to you, as if it someone was whispering directly in your ear- and yet it simultaneously resounded everywhere.
The voice of a killer. You'd heard the voices of warriors- many of your Servants fell into that category. You'd even heard the voice of 'one who kills', the uneven rumbling tones of your AVENGER. This was neither. This was the voice of one who proudly killed, who acted in terms of their own justice. There was resolve, and with that resolve came the chill of death.
MUSASHI sat up, swiftly. One hand reached for her swords.
Several skulls in the darkness. Several shadows surrounding you on all sides. One of the shadows emerged from the darkness, resting a hand on their hip-- no, on their daggers.
They weren't that relaxed.
ASSASSIN: "…Therefore, Demon of the Moon, we will allow you to speak."
She gestured, giving you the floor. You felt a bit blindsided-- but these were professional assassins, they were marching to the beat of their drum- not yours. Allowing you to be 'comfortable' would be a disadvantage on their part.

[Kanabikisō] Thesium chinense
It grows in fields and grasslands. The grass is about 30 centimeters tall, and at this time of year, produces the flowers about from 6 to 8 millimeters in diameter in the leaf axils. There are no petals, and what appear to be so are sepals. It is a semiparasitic plant whose roots are spherical suckers at the tip and attach to the roots of plants in the Grass family, Poaceae, and other plants.
The origin of the name is unknown. In old books, it is written as 金引草. By the way, this word 金引[Kanabiki] means trying to catch one's attention or testing the sharpness of the katana.
Well, there is a katana named 童子切[Dōjigiri], which was made by 安綱[Yasutsuna], a swordsmith of the late Heian period(794-1185,) and is a national treasure today. The name comes from the legend that 源頼光[Minamoto-no Yorimitsu] cut the demon [Shuten dōji] with it. Dōjigiri is one of the sharpest swords among the many great swords, and the following episode remains. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuten-dōji
[Gen'yūkō (Ietsuna) konokata odōgu tameshi goyō ai tsutome sōrō(sōrau) wa machida chōdayū to iu rōnin nari, kono mono ka no miyo gochōhō dōjigiri to iu ontachi wo tameshi sōrō(sōrai) mutsudō shikiude dotan barai nite arishi to,] There was a ronin named Machida Chōdayū who had been entrusted with the task of testing tools since the time of Gen'yū-kō (Lord Ietsuna, the fourth shōgun of the Tokugawa dynasty.) It was when this person tested the katana named Dōjigiri, which was a treasure in those days; the katana was said to slice through six corpses, including the arms, and bit into the foundation. ((There may be more than one "Link"-type character in a single entry -- Hero's Shade, Fierce Deity, Linkle, Ravio, Animal Crossing player in Hero's Outfit + W. Link, Mario Kart Links + Outfit for Miis, the pre-characters listed above, etc.))
((I am counting characters who can dress up as Link, such as in BS Zelda, Sky: Children of the Light, Animal Crossing, the Badge Arcade rabbit, etc.))
((The same Link can appear in multiple entries.))
Got a lot of information from these sites:
Let me know if I missed or skipped over any that I should add to the list!
I might reblog this with images.

🔶🔸DEVIL MAY CRY
La sceneggiatura è stata concepita da Adi Shankar (Castlevania) and Alex Larsen (Yasuke), mentre il tutto porta la firma di STUDIO MIR (The Legend of Korra, Dota: Dragon's Blood, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf).
youtube
🔶🔸SONIC PRIME
Go next.
youtube
🔶🔸CAPTAIN LASERHAWK: A BLOOD DRAGON REMIX
youtube
🔶🔸SCOTT PILGRIM
Non ce la fate ad aspettare il 17 novembre per vedere la versione animata, in stile SCIENCE SARU (The Tatami Time Machine Blues, The Heike Story), del famoso fumetto di Bryan Lee O'Malley? Eccovi una clip in anteprima allora.
youtube
🔶🔸MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION
youtube
🔶🔸TOMB RAIDER: THE LEGEND OF LARA CROFT
In programma per il 2024, è prodotta in casa Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania, Masters of the Universe: Revelation).
youtube
Per chi si fosse perso la premiere in anteprima e volesse comunque un assaggino di Castlevania: Nocturne, nel mentre aspetta di poter maratonare la prima stagione (vi ricordo che esce domani by the way), ecco i primi sette minuti della prima puntata in omaggio.
youtube

A strange thought came to me.
If Kaiju No. 8 were related to sea creatures (Most of which seem to come from the sea??) Japan and the sea… Kafka has kaiju powers?? (From the fact that Kaiju number 8 Let Kafka eat it.) Kaiju No. 9 once ate a human and transformed into that human. In the manga there is Isao and samurai and Onmyojin ?? I saw someone speculate on Theory as to whether Kafka is half kaiju (before Number 8 had Kafka eat it and Number 8's "I Found You"). If "Kafka" and the number 8 are connected by the word "I found you" and Number 8 wants to "kill kaiju". If actually Number 8 used to be a human who was a kaiju (I think from the samurai Kafka saw) And Japan has a legend. Eat mermaid meat and become immortal. If we change to Eat the flesh of mermaids (kaiju) and become immortal instead. So, did something happen like it happened in Kafka's world?? Maybe I'm going crazy myself, but hey, it's fun.
