Growing up in the same Crèche Clan, they became friends since their first days at the Temple, always together and inseparable.

They both became Padawans at 12 years old, and since their masters were friends they had the opportunity to see each other quite a lot, and even partecipate in some missions together.

Unfortunately it is on one of these missions that Lala will then lose her life, at the age of 14, trying to protect her wounded master from a group of bounty hunters.

Baheera will never forget her, not even in her old age, and she will also dedicate a book to her memory: “The Little Padawan”

I'll start this by prefacing that this is what great character development looks like 👆

and sorry for the tangent/rant is this going to become because, truly, 19 Days has no religious plot or tones, doesn't offer commentary or criticism on it- hell!! it has nothing to do with it at all

yet my hurt heart can help but heal a little bit more every time a queer piece of media has moments like this

ngl, when I started reading the chapter I was nervous, but afterwards it became one of my faves of the series; it gives the same vibe as Charlie's final talk w/ Ben in the Heartstopper series

we, who grow up on extremist religious households, are often groomed to the idea of "always forgiving", always taking the "high ground" and "being the better person" - whatever it even is supposed to be like. and it takes a long time to shake off the guilt of simply not wanting to forgive someone that hurt

because, here's the thing, YOU DON'T!! nb needs to forgive everyone; forget and move forward? absolutely, yes. but if someone pushed you too far and you want nothing to do with them anymore, it's your right to it. you're not going to hell, nor is any other Deity you believe going to punish you for that

it's why scenes like this, specially to lgbt ppl, is so important and will always have a deep impact on me (and a lot of others, I'm sure)

Summary: Hua cheng notices Xie lian often sneaking around behind his back. It's amusing how his gege is trying so hard to appear less suspicious. Perhaps he should catch him in the most unique way...

"Wha!" Xie Lian jumped, almost dropping the vase he was holding to replace the withered flowers.

"San Lang mustn't scare me like that..." he gives a sheepish laugh chiding him.

"Mmm" Hua Cheng playfully looms behind him, now managing to corner him between him and the table with Xie lian trapped, "But your highness, I didn't scare you, I was here the whole time... are you hiding something..." Trailing off, he slowly used two fingers of his right hand to crawl up his hips to his side, "from me?" He pokes as he ends his sentence gradually.

Xie lian Jolts again, giggling, "I-I hahave no idea whahat you mean, dear San lahahan?"

"Riight..." With that, Hua cheng pinched his ribs, making Xie lian jerk. Turning to face him, "I-I swear im not hi- ack! don't do that..."

Hua cheng's lips curled, sending butterflies in Xie lian's stomach, "I am merely trying to ease you, dear gege..."

Before Xie lian can protest, Hua cheng intentionally tackled him to the bed, now instantly tickling his stomach, "Oh your highness, you're so cute when you hide something so obvious"

"P-pahaha ihihihi dihihid nohohot -ahaha ahahahalright ahahalright ihihihi wihihill confehehess!"

Xie lian's desperate yet joyful glees are given mercy when Hua cheng stops instantly, smiling expectantly, "Now that I caught you, you can merrily try to sneak past my questioning, gege"

"Ahaha," wiping a tear from the corner of his eye, Xie lian pecks his nose for a moment now managing to sit up, surprising him, "How about I catch you off guard and escape San lan?"

With that, a flustered Hua cheng was gently pushed to the side as Xie lian escaped with a mischeivous giggle.

Recovering instantly, Hua cheng chuckles now ready to get his highness once again. "I'll catch you again..."

He started to chase after him, ending his gege's running streak within seconds.
