I find the fact that the IWTV showrunners just decided to throw in a super intense Dom/sub relationship between Louis and Armand, when it has NO basis in ANY of the books, to be extremely funny. Like, whose idea was that? What was the point? Why did EVERYONE go along with it? It served no plot purpose. You could excise that part of their relationship and it would change NOTHING in the rest of the show. So what was the reason? SOMEONE TELL ME I NEED TO KNOW

Since I've recently had the displeasure of witnessing various weird ship-related asks being directed at creative fandom people, I feel like some shipping basics bear repeating:

A ship doesn't have to be canon in order for people to be "allowed" to ship it

Same goes for ships that aren't part of someone's headcanons, popular fanon or any canon, non-canon or dubiously-canon adaptations of the original

Using canon/fanon/headcanons in order to bash a ship/a take on a ship and have these arguments about which one is more "valid" is 1) an exercise in futility and 2) annoying

Nobody cares to hear it, nobody will be convinced of anything and nobody wants to be forced to defend what they like

You can take a few seconds to do this cool mental exercise called "empathy" and ask yourself "would I like people sending me messages telling me I can't ship my OTP because XYZ"

You can then do the cool thing called "basic human decency" and leave them alone

Also "discourse" of this sort is more often than not incredibly hypocritical since pretty much everyone stans a non-canon ship at some point and many fandoms' top ships are in fact non-canon

Whenever you start your weird little ship wars the multishippers (hi) are laughing at you. They are laughing as we speak

I promise some of you will have an easier time in fandom if you take this to heart. Hope it helps🫶
