I’m an adult, is it too late to read Percy Jackson?

No. And I know, I know what you’re thinking. But Paige, all the adults I know who love the series read it as kids and they probably just like it for the nostalgia. Very true. But I am here to give you my honest opinion on the series as someone who read the series for the first time as an adult.

At first I wasn’t gonna read it. I figured my time to have actually enjoyed it had long past. I knew all the spoilers, I was too old, etc. And no, despite what your friend Emma with the Camp Half Blood tattoo might have told you, it is not the best series ever written. Probably not even the best children series ever ever written. BUT, I still think you should read it and here is why.

1. They are easy reads. Adult books are long, often heavy, emotional, challenging. PJO is none of those things. If you feel in the mood for something easy and relaxing that will still keep you engaged, it’s a perfect fit.

2. They are just really entertaining. Just yesterday I was smiling like an idiot as I watched the thing I already knew was gonna happen (because as previously mentioned, this entire series has been spoiled for me). And I didn’t care that it was predictable and I knew it was coming because there is something comforting about a certain amount of predictability I think.

Just remember that you’re reading a kids book. There are errors and mistakes but man whatever it’s not that serious. I’ve enjoyed them so far. So if you decide to embark on that journey, I wish you the best of luck.
