I'm seeing a lot of "It's Coming Home" things recently. Which makes me chuckle because, regardless of how well England do in the Euro, football hasn't "come home" for 58 years.

Football has not been "home" in my lifetime.

It has not been "home" in my parents' lifetimes.

If you hadn't been somewhere for 58 years, would it still be considered home?

At best, football's popping by for a visit.

But I’m English and an England supporter. I also have immigrant parents and I’ve seen the racism and the bigotry that’s happened in the past. And this is the best state we’ve ever been in compared to how it’s been in the past.

I understand the frustrations.

But this is also the most diverse and talented squad we’ve ever had.

Yes, Southgate’s a shit and doesn’t understand the talent he has on the bench and the English media are getting at him day after day.

Yes, Trent deserves better. Toney, Gordon, Gomez do.

All these players are just sat there, unused and misused on the bench.

But still. Going to the pub and watching these games.

Being in Berlin this weekend and wearing an England shirt.

Being proud of our team. Being proud to wear the shirt. As a person of colour.

It’s so important. To me.

It makes me feel so good to know that I live in an era where I can see my national team live up to and beyond the heavy expectations set upon them.

Yeah. So.

I love this squad. Hate this manager. I’m experiencing this for what it is.
