When it’s been a looong week & it’s Friday dinner time & you just can’t even... ... grab some naan & whatever leftovers you have in the fridge. Lunchmeat? Sure. Chicken leg? Yup. Oh rosé can you see

Happy Independence Day everybody.  The guys at Brosé celebrated today with a bag full of sparklers and a cooler full of wine.

The first bottle was the 2015 Rosé de Pressée from Domain du Tariquet.  This wine had a delicate berry flavor with bright finish.  The color was a wonderfully deep, cherry-like pink.

Adi brought out and opened the second bottle for us: the 2015 Ricolte from La Vieille Ferme.

This rosé was had a wonderful flavor, full of strawberry and melons on top of a surprisingly soft mouthfeel.  At under ten dollars for a bottle, it was also wonderfully priced.  We sipped on these two wines and enjoyed our day off work.

Once again many thanks to the photographer, Nick Mann, who amazingly managed to get these shots while dodging sparkler fire.  You can see some his recent work also at extraillinoisan.  Also thanks to this cat who watched us the entire time.  You were super cool, cat.  You can join us in any other shoot.

Wine on a dime: Safeway Sips Not all French wine is expensive and not all inexpensive French wine is bad. I found this gem at the local Safeway for 7.99$ It's a 2012 and while I just opened it, it could benefit from a little extra breathing time. However, it embraces the Rosé style of the Provence region (albeit from just north, in the Rhône Valley) and is a great find for our "wine on a dime" list.

It combines grenache, syrah, cinsault and the key to less pricey, Carignan grapes. On their own, Carignan grapes are a bit rough but when blended into a mix of other, more "flavorable" and complex grapes, they can really bring out the more subtle aromas of their companions. 

Put this with very light cheese, fruit and perhaps a delicate fish (think Sole) or drink it solo. Enjoy now and again, make sure to chill it to at least 50, if not a bit cooler.
