Friend Request by Laura Marshall has literally kept me up all night. I had to find out what happened to the people in this story. This is a thriller and mystery, and my god did it keep me hooked. I honestly had no idea where the book was going to end up, and now that I do, I am honestly stunned as I expected nothing like the ending it gave. This was a book that hit me really hard. I could identify with a lot of the things the main character was feeling - especially in regard to her high school experiences about subtle bullying from ‘friends’. But it also took me to the other side - what it was like to bully someone else to gain your ‘friends’ favour. I 100% do not agree with what the main character did, but I understand the why behind it. I also loved the role that social media had in making this thriller/mystery into what it is. I was genuinely horrified by how it was used, because it is something that could realistically happen. I am still analysing the bulk of my feelings and thoughts, but overall, for me, it did what a thriller was supposed to - scare me and make me question things.
