also, about carmillas control of her vampirism, while it's hot to think about, i dont think fangs actually come out during sex. like in the s3 scenes where shes actually still a vampire that we dont get to see but i dont think that happens

I’ve been obsessively thinking about the differences between the lines ‘I would burn the world down for you’ and ‘even when the world burns down I’m never losing you again’ from the Carmilla web series (the quotes are paraphrases) for over a week now and I just have to talk about jt.

For a long time I couldn’t put what the differences were into words, I just knew the vibes but it just barely clicked in my head.

desperation vs hope

There’s more but ultimately that’s what it boils down to. The alternate universe Carmilla was desperate, empty, and insecure. She was preemptively deciding that she and Laura were doomed so she decided that she would rather doom the whole world instead. The world is the enemy. The world is the one trying to rip them apart. Not only that but it also feels like she’s trying to prove something to Laura instead of trusting that Laura was just as committed as Carmilla.

The main universe Carmilla though, she may not have much hope for the world at large, but she has hope for her and Laura. She trusts Laura. Obviously she would fight for Laura just as much, if not more, than the alternate Carmilla, but this Carm knows that she doesn’t have to. Because they love each other and they’re partners and they’re in it together. There may be difficulties. The world could be, and was, ending around them but Carm knew that it would be alright because she and Laura were going to be together no matter what. There’s still a degree of selfishness involved in this, but not nearly to the extent as there is in the other statement. And if it is a little selfish? Who cares. Sometimes you need to be a little selfish, but this feels like a healthy level of selfishness to me whereas the other statement is literally the same mindset that lead the Dean to be where she’s at.

The desperation and selfishness in ‘I would burn down the world for you’ would have lead Carmilla to be just as evil, twisted, and bitter as her mother.

The hope and devotion in ‘Even when the world burns down I’m never going to lose you again’ is what makes Carmilla Laura’s hero. It’s what makes her human.

Suddenly a familiar, intoxicating scent was all around her, and her eyes came into focus to see Laura had drawn her pocketknife down the inside of her wrist, prepared to bring it to Carm's lips. With whatever vestiges of strength remained inside of her, she grasped Laura's arm and held it at bay. "No, Laura... I'm too weak. I don't trust myself right now. Please," Her voice shook as she mumbled. "I love you, please... I can't..." "Sshhh," Laura hushed her gently. "It's okay. I trust you, Carm. You won't hurt me. And I can't lose you, not again." Then Laura was kissing her, softly but with so much intent... full of trust and love that Carmilla would never believe she deserved. She whimpered against Laura's mouth before Laura pulled back, eyes shining even in the dark as she lifted her wrist to Carm's lips.

No idea, but it had terrible writing IMO, so I don't consider this a great tragedy. I don't even think of it as canon.

(Why would Carmilla lie about having tortured Laura's friends when there's VIDEO EVIDENCE that she didn't? And why does Laura never bring up the lie when they are LITERALLY WATCHING THE VIDEO?)

I always liked to think Perry held home ec for Freshman to join! Share her cooking and cleaning know how with others! I feel Carm would be dragged along by Laura to show support, but she already knows what to do.

CARMILLA KARNSTEIN HEADCANONS (BOOK)

Warning: Here I will write some headcanons that I thought about Carmilla (from the book, not from the webseries). Also, english is not my native language, so may have here some gramatical slips (so please be gentle with me!). That's my first autoral post! Saying this, let's begin!

1. Carmilla has a HUGE obsession with dolls. She has a dollhouse colletion with inumerous dolls. Her favorite is a doll that's she named Elizabeth, she is ginger with blue eyes and dresses a florid dress.

2. Carmilla writes loveletters to Laura A LOT, but she never show any of them to her. She wishes to show to her someday, because Carm loves to demonstrate all her love and affection for Laura. She fears that Laura reject her.

3. Carmilla favorite colors is: red, black and purple.

4. Carmilla loves music and dance, especially waltz. She loves music so depleely that she asks for her Mother for piano lessions. Obviously, she fell in love completly for the instrument.

5. Carmilla loves cats, especially black cats. She adopted one when she was in Paris and called him Hades.

6. Carmilla loves to travel. Her favorite vacation destinys are Paris, London and Florence.

7. Carmilla likes to sleep a lot and HATES when someone wake her for some reason (except Laura).

8. Carmilla takes a lot of care of her hair (which is very long and wavy, almost reach her hips).

9. Carmilla don't believe in God since she turned into a vampire.

10. Carmilla is a Scorpio and her birthday date is October 24th.

11. Carmilla have a deep depression. Laura don't understand her humor instability, but tries to care for Carm and make her feel better.

12. Carm feels a deep guilty for hurt and kill other people for her own surviving as a vampire. She wishes never hurt anyone, especially Laura.

13. Carmilla loves chocolate, cakes and candies. And by the way, Laura bakes a lot of them for her lovely vampire.

14. Carm is a polyglot. She knows english, french and german fluently (german is obviously her native language).

15. Carmilla loves to flirt with Laura, besides praising her. She adores when Laura's cheecks turn red when she praise her pink lips or her beautiful blonde hair. And of course, asks for Laura to kiss her when they are alone.
