"ok ok. but now that i've seen you in this, is it cool if we can go to the bedroom?"

so hao wasn't really expecting much, he came back from a hefty flight as zb1 were performing in another country for an event

however!! he got to head to your place when it was near midnight, he just felt better sleeping in your arms rather than at the dorm. you were chill with him coming too!

he knew he'd sleep better with you beside him :)

cue to hao entering the apartment where it was completely dark inside. his feet naturally led him to your room where he slowly opened the door to reveal your body covered up in your huge blanket as you were fast asleep

hao immediately smiled, you were the cutest thing to him. he made his way to the other side of the bed where he hopped in and wrapped his arms around you like he always does

but...it felt different this time. he didn't feel any fabric. hao then steadily lifted up the blanket to reveal you in just your undergarments.

when i tell you he almost lost his shit, he really did. right away he felt his body begin heating up and he resisted the urge to wake you up

"am i dreaming?" he thought. but nope, it was real. he cursed at his flight for taking so long since he could've seen you in it before you fell asleep

"you look so stunning..." he mumbled, gently manuvering his hands around your figure and then leaving a kiss on your shoulder.

he then wondered, was this a surprise for him? it was rare that he got to see you like this so he was cherishing the moment

"i love you so much my love. i won't disturb your sleep." he ended with then covering himself with the sheets and spooning you in his arms

though the next morning would be incredibly different

it was your birthday and you had came back from work, you somehow forgot it was your birthday and jumped when confetti fell on you as the door opened.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" hanbin exclaimed, then coming to kiss your cheek

"thank you babe...i completely forgot." you smiled, he giggled then led you to the living room where you both sat down. "glad i could help you remember!" hanbin couldn't say it earlier since he was already out the door when you awoke this morning

"this is for you!" a present box now rested on your lap as you looked down. it was wrapped perfectly with your favorite colors

"what is this?" you noticed the shape of it was a square and that it wasn't too big but not too small.

"your gift. open it!" you ripped the wrapping open (which you felt bad for) to reveal a box inside that hid the item underneath it. as you pulled the top off, your eyes widened to reveal a piece of lingerie.

"h-hanbin what..." you held it in your hands and there wasn't much material, it was clearly meant to be revealing.

"i thought it would look great on you." he complimented. you suggested trying it on and hanbin wasn't going to stop you but asked if you were sure you wanted to. you agreed and left to change in the bedroom.

as hanbin anticipated the reveal, the door opened and you shyly came out in the small material. trying to look confident as you walked towards him. "what do you think?"

hanbin was speechless as his mouth was left wide open. he tried to make out words to say but none of it could as he took in how beautiful you looked. without saying anything, he got closer to you and wrapped his arms around your body then kissing you on the lips.

"you always know how to blow me away. i have no words to describe how amazing you look." his words melted you as you sunk your face into his chest, "thank you bin.."

you saw someone on tiktok come into their significant other's room with revealing clothing on while they're busy doing something and that got you curious.. how would your boyfriend matthew react to that?

so to answer that question you decide to buy the most revealing thing you found online and surprise matthew with it

it happened to be like any other day but matthew had his day off and came to visit you. he was watching youtube, totally oblivious to what you were about to pull

the clothing was definitely something, way too revealing but you knew matthew would be over the moon seeing u in it

as you stood outside the room with only a door separating you two, you felt your heart beat increase but nonetheless stood confidently

and then...baam! the door opens to matthew on the bed while being completely absorbed into his phone screen

"hey matt~" you sang. he looked up, "yeah what's up-" then paused.

nothing was said in that moment as he was in disbelief while staring at you, now mesmerized

"is it a special event today?" he barely let out. you giggled then shook your head, "nope! just wanted to surprise you. what do you think?" you twirled around in it, even giving him a view from behind.

he put his hand over his heart, feeling his heart beating rapidly. "you really know how to make me go insane don't you?" he got closer to place a kiss on your lips

"i hope it's a good type of insane." you smirked. with his hands now holding yours, he guided you to the bed and you laid under him as he hovered over top of you

"well, it's not like i'll be able to see this everyday so i will enjoy ever chance i get." was the last thing he said before shutting the door, making you realize what would happen behind closed doors in this sweet setting.

"it's not that bad taerae c'mon!" you exclaimed. though taerae begged to differ as he was trying to tug you away from the store

"no! let's go somewhere else, this is..." he couldn't finish his sentence and just sighed with his hands still holding onto the cuffs of your jacket.

“what?… don’t tell me you’re shy to go into a victoria’s secret!” despite him denying it, taerae turning around to hide his flushed cheeks gave it away.

“n-no! well, i’ve never been in one before!” you pulled taerae inside and began walking around the crowded area

just then, a pink set of lingerie caught your eye and you rushed to the mannequin displaying it in it’s full glory

“oh this is so cute! should i get it?” you asked your boyfriend who was taking glances around the place while trying to hide behind displays

“huh? oh yeah looks nice.” you sighed and dragged taerae to where the fitting rooms were and told him to stay there while you changed to try it on

taerae began playing with his fingers as the waiting game began until you came out. however he was thrilled at the thought of seeing you in such clothing that barely covered up anything.

“love? how is it?” he asked though the door was blocking your view of him. you giggled, “it’s great! look!” you then opened the door ajar.

taerae’s eyes widen in panic as he quickly covered the space that someone could see you from. his heart then began pounding as he saw your figure wearing what was previously displayed. it was perfect, he thought.

“wow…” with more confidence taerae walked into the fitting room though you protested and told him not to.

“you look great, you shine in it.” you looked in the mirror once again, striking a few poses

“you think?” he nodded and hugged you from behind as he held your hands

“hundred percent, i would love to see you in this more.” his hands gently caressed your sides

even then your body began to heat up, “w-well…i’ll buy it then. but you need to get out! someone will know were both in here!”

he smirked, “i don’t mind that.”

shen ricky

you just came back from a long but fun day of shopping with your friends. your arms were sore from holding all the bags with clothing inside

you told ricky you wanted to go shopping so he basically handed you his card and told you to go for it. he always joked that it was unlimited and you could buy anything so that's exactly what you did

luckily for you ricky was at home watching some tv when you arrived

"ricky, i'm home!" he helped you with the bags and put them down in the living room

he noticed the one bag that stood out from the rest, it wasn’t too big as it had only one item inside

“hm, what's this?” he picked it up and looked inside to see an unexpected item. needless to say, you had never seen ricky’s eyes widen that big before ever

“oh that? it’s just something that caught my eye while i was shopping!” you explained then pulling it out of the bag to reveal the small piece of clothing

ricky couldn’t believe it and asked if he could see it so you handed it to him and the man was in awe

as his eyes went up and down, he got closer to you and handed it back, “can i see it on you…please?”

you giggled, “only because you asked nicely.” then left the room leaving ricky to wait on the sofa. but it didn’t take long until you came out in front of him

ricky was living for you in this as his eyes lit up immediately

“you look great!” he exclaimed, now getting up to pull you into his warm embrace

“you really think so?” you gazed at the piece on you. it definitely wasn’t okay to wear in public but ricky was living for it

gyuvin was on tour and that left you all alone for the past whole month. this was just the start as this was a world tour that was going to be for months! though you were insanely proud of your boyfriend’s achievements, you really missed his presence in the house and wanted to surprise him

as you scavenged through your closet, you managed to find a piece of clothing that was extremely tight and revealing, very scandalous, but you loved it! as you tried it on, it still hugged your body warmly

you knew gyuvin was in his hotel since he’d tell you almost everything of what was happening, and so you opened your phone to facetime your bambi bf

with only one ring he answered where you saw him laying in bed, turned on his side as if he’d just gotten to rest

“hi gyu!” you opened with. from the angle you were sitting in, he couldn’t tell what you were wearing yet.

“hi! what are you up to?” you two conversed for a bit with just a conversation about your day and whatnot. you were waiting for the right time to reveal it and just as his hotel roommate left the room, you decided to hatch your plan

“hey gyu, look.” you switched the angle to now be fully showing your body and you swore that gyuvin nearly fell off that damn bed

“WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!” he yelled through the phone, loud enough to turn down your volume

“oh this? i dunno i was bored and found it in my closet. i wanted to show you it since you deserve a gift after working so hard.”

“yeah, it is a great gift…UGH NOW MY CHEEKS ARE ALL RED BECAUSE OF YOU!” he shouted. you could now hear someone telling him to be quiet on the other end causing you to giggle

“well have a good rest yeah?” your fingers formed to create a heart shape to which he did the same back, “i don’t think i will after seeing that. it’ll be all i think about.”

“i’ll always be here if you want to see it again.” you joked. “i will definitely bother you for it again, but not now since i’m too tired. goodbye luv!” he waved to you.

I planned to post this on the week of Christmas, but I figured it was more appropriate to post now. This is just me sharing my plans for 2024 (For PJO. Who knows maybe I'll join a new fandom this year-). The 2023 Masterlist helped me, so I figured I'd do it as well for this year.

"Cards of Fate"

This is a project still under discussion with the wonderful artist coma.stash. I want to make a card set for A Kairos Moment (A - K, and Joker card) featuring characters that correspond to said card. So, for example, Ace of Hearts = Nico, etc. I plan to make a physical copy for my own self, but I will be sharing the digital copy here online. This is what the “poll” from some time ago was about. This project has no specific deadline other than this year. Again, still under discussion with Coma, but I'm excited to make this happen.

Rafayel's Timeline Redux Part 3

Spoilers below.

2024 (...probably (Rafayel literally says probably about his age in his interview…)) Rafayel born March 6th (Promotional video, in game profile)

2026-2027 MC born. (This age comes from chapter 5.1. The letter she gets from Grandma says she was 7-8 when they started experimenting on her, and she was adopted by Grandma after the Chronorift Catastrophe in 2034.)

?? Child Rafayel studied under a Lemurian art teacher. He showed him photos of the surface world, but Rafayel wanted to see the real thing. He was grounded, but later allowed out on his birthday. He used this opportunity to sneak away and swim to the surface where he dared to stick his hand above the water. (Unforgettable Adventure)

?? Child Rafayel likes escaping to explore the ocean. On one or more of these excursions, he sees a human floating lantern festival and puts out their lanterns. (Ocean At Night)

Rafayel would be 10 at this time. (If his birth year is correct.)

Chronorift Catastrophe

MC (age 7-8) now has Protocore Syndrome in her heart, is adopted by Granny, and has little memory before this event.

On December 31st, Lemurian ruins are discovered, after a tsunami southeast of Linkon city, when a rift opens up and reveals it.

?? Child Rafayel is given a Whale Call as a means of protection, in case something happens on one of his escapes from Lemuria. However, he never uses it, because he never escapes again after this, and sometime later he buries it in the Lemurian city. (Whalefall Lament)

Sometime before 2038, MC goes on a field trip to Hat Island (possibly when she meets Rafayel?).

?? Pinkie Promise as children. (MS Chapter 7.11) At some point in MC and Rafayel's childhood, Rafayel visits the surface world but gets trapped on the beach on his return trip (on Ebb Day?) (Perhaps during her field trip to Hat Island?) (A summer day by the seaside involving seashells? (Anecdote 2)) She saves him, and they make a pinkie promise. Rafayel says if she doesn't return, he will chase her to the ends of the earth. (Nightly Stroll) (Most likely this life. See Rafayel's Birthday Card Thoughts.)

Rafayel: “It’s settled, then. If you don’t return, I’ll…I’ll chase you to the ends of the Earth.”

?? Lemurians Slaughtered. Some survivors go into hiding living on land among humans, including his Aunt Talia and K. (Anecdote 3) (See What Happened to Lemuria and Rafayel for a detailed breakdown of this. Most likely this life. See Rafayel's Birthday Card Thoughts.)

Rafayel's Anecdote 3 immediately precedes Anecdote 2 (See 2044-2047). 

Rafayel is an Opera singer in Verona going by the moniker “Mo”, hunting down and killing people, possibly as revenge for the destruction of Lemuria and slaughter of his people. 

He is being investigated by a private detective named Louis. 

He is not painting at this time. 

Rafayel's only living family on Earth is his Aunt Talia, also Lemurian. His Aunt Talia is also in Verona. Talia thinks Rafayel of the past was like a blazing flame. But ever since the incident in Lemuria, he is like a battered reef - cold and hard outside, but inwardly riddled with cracks, vulnerable, and on the verge of crumbling. She remembers he used to like painting. 

He also recently attended a Seamoon Ceremony for another Lemurian, K, who dies and is returned to the sea (after having his scales and blood taken). Lemurians are hiding amongst humanity, but being hunted, tortured, harvested for their scales and blood and killed. It is suggested that Rafayel is trying to accomplish something to save the Lemurians, saying, “Not every Lemurian survivor can wait.” It appears the longer he takes to accomplish his goal, the more of the Lemurians die in the meanwhile. 

Rafayel leaves Verona and moves to Linkon city. He has a picture of MC in his pocket, likely given to him by Louis, who gave Rafayel a new lead. Rafayel burns papers in a file before he disembarks the ship. He has a business card with relevant information. (Anecdote 3).

Today finally Hueningkai said that Soobin’s fine and he’s still in contact with them. Hopefully people will stop assuming that he’s dying or something because this is actually getting annoying. Plus those comments/posts somehow always get lots of likes too. This is just proof that people really believe everything they see instead of just researching

Those people that he believe wanted to k1ll himself/calling him selfish because he decided to rest are basically telling me “I didn’t read the article, I didn’t read soobin’s letter and I don’t know anything about this situation” I was reading the article again and it clearly said “Soobin wanted to continue but the medical staff said it’s better for him to rest”

Also I saw on twitter that “The "Meet & Greet" event with #SOOBIN, originally scheduled for 23 November 2024 and postponed due to Soobin's conditions, is rescheduled to be held in February 2025 in the Kanto region of Japan.” So that means soobin is actually coming back in January. That had me genuinely relieved because even tho everyone was saying he’d come back in January that wasn’t confirmed

Yes!! they're so annoying, if you're going to tell your opinion make sure to be really well informed as this is a sensitive topic, they cannot go around saying Soobin wanted to k*ll himself that's just a messed up rumor with no fundaments, wanting attention and getting angry and fighting back, like, those dumbasses don't know anything! they're just dressed as fans, they're not moas, not even a fan, and seem to have no empathy.

And also those are great news!! I hope Soobin spends his holidays happily with his family, also his birthday, his mom is probably pampering him with her home cooked meals and he's resting as best as he can 🥳 So, let's stop worrying about him, he's okay and the next year we'll see him again

I was wondering: I know works for the spring fever are due on the 10th, but will there be chances to write things inspired by the prompts at some point after that too? I have some ideas floating around that I definitely won’t be able to finish this month but I might take a crack at them eventually 💚 thanks for running this awesome event!

Hi! Thank you for the Ask!

As our collection is now standing at 80 works, the mods are happy to be lenient about late-posters. Posting will be possible until works go live on the 22nd (just make sure you post the fully proof-read and complete version of your work), and even beyond that until we reveal the creators on the 26th. So, the collection will stay open for posting all throughout the fest. (Our deadlines are mostly there to make the mods' life easier, and to ensure that we start into the K/S Day celebration with enough works to enjoy.)

The prompts will stay visible and claimable even after K/S Spring Fever is over (I just tested this with a prompt from 2023), but when you fill it, you won't be able to add it to the collection as it will be closed after 26 Mar 2024 12:01 AM UTC. So I recommend gifting the work to the prompter, so that they will see it.

I'd say late fills of one's prompt are always welcome! It's the equivalent of finding an X-mas present in May that had been hidden away in a closet, or getting a very belated birthday present. <3

Sometimes people re-submit their prompts to the next K/S Spring Fever, or to our sister event @ksadvent, so if it's important to you to have your work in one of the collections, you can try to reach out to the prompter to check whether they'd be willing to re-submit it to one of the next fests.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! I have to start this post by going back to last Saturday. Our day started by traveling to watch Remi play in his first basketball tournament of the season. The boys have improved so much. They lost their first game by just one basket. While they also lost the next two games, we saw so much promise. As 6th graders, they are learning more every day but need to recondition their bodies to playing 3 games a day and to take a beat before they shoot. Saturday evening we attended Charlotte's first dance recital. After a little confusion about where to enter the event, we were delighted by the wonderful Christmas program. Charlie performed with her class and then later in the program she and her daddy were part of the daddy-daughter dance. She was absolutely beaming on stage with her daddy. Monday was a horrific day. About an hour away from us there was a school shooting. 1 teacher and 1 freshman student were killed and several others injured, two still in critical condition at the last report. The shooter, a 15-year-old girl took her own life right before the police arrived. This was at a Pre-K-12 school. A school that was in our conference for sports and other academic events. We have been to that school several times while our children were in school. We know people whose children and grandchildren go there. It is heartwrenching whenever these shootings occur but this one hit me hard. Friday, other high schools in the area walked out of classes and marched to the state Capitol building in response to Monday’s shooting chanting “no more silence, end gun violence” and “books, not bullets” during their nearly three-mile route. This has to stop. Mental illness is always cited and that may have been the issue that started this, but this 15-year-old had a gun that she shouldn't have had. Both need to be addressed and this country needs to decide what is more important, their children or their guns. Friday also marked Remington's 12th birthday. We had a big snowfall Thursday night that brought back memories of the blizzard that happened the night he was born. Daughter #1 calls him her blizzard baby. The trip to the hospital was a real event following a police car and a snowplow. It's a night we will never forget. Kaden was snowed in with his other grandparents for several days. Hard to believe it was twelve years ago. He is growing up to be a wonderful young man, we are so proud of him. How was your week? Fandoms in the Digital Age: Creativity, Community, and Challenges

Fandoms have long provided a haven for marginalized groups, uniting individuals through shared passions and experiences (Gray, Sandvoss, & Harrington 2007). The digital era has transformed fandoms into vibrant, global communities, empowering fans to interact with idols, share creations, and shape their identities (Booth 2015; Lee & Lim 2019, cited in Lee et al. 2020). Social media has eliminated traditional gatekeepers, allowing fandoms to flourish as hubs of participatory culture (Jenkins 2018, cited in Lee et al. 2020).

In this post, we will explore fandoms as dynamic spaces for creativity and activism while examining the challenges they face in the age of social media.

The Power of Sociality in Fandom

Fandoms thrive on connection, fostering creativity and communication among members (Jia, Li & Ma 2021).

Social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr create networks that transcend geography, enabling fans to share fanfiction, art, and memes (DeLuca 2018). Jenkins’ concept of participatory culture (cited in Delwiche & Jacobs Henderson 2013) illustrates how fans collaborate to produce and circulate content, enriching fan communities.

“K-pop stans” exemplify this sociality, blending participatory culture with networked publics (Ito 2008, cited in Ojala & Riapatti-Torniainen 2024). These fans organize global events, create fan-made merchandise, and use platforms like YouTube to amplify their idols’ success. In 2022 alone, the K-pop industry generated over 11 trillion KRW, demonstrating the economic power of fandom (Statista 2022, cited in AFM Editorial Office 2024). Social media not only facilitates these activities but also strengthens the sense of belonging within fandoms.

Fandoms as Agents of Social Change

Fandoms extend beyond entertainment, becoming platforms for activism and advocacy. For instance, BTS fans raised over $1.3 million for the Black Lives Matter movement through the #MatchAMillion campaign, highlighting how fandoms mobilize for meaningful causes (Rolli 2020; Bhandari 2020, cited in Leksmono & Maharani 2022).

Environmental activism has also emerged within fandoms. KPOP 4 Planet unites fans to address climate change, racism, and political unrest, using Twitter to share critiques and ideas (Leksmono & Maharani 2022). By leveraging their collective voice, fandoms demonstrate the transformative potential of participatory culture.

The Pros and Cons of Fandom in the Social Media Era

Pros

Fandoms are incubators of creativity and connection. Fans reinterpret media through fan art, fiction, and other works, fostering a sense of community and support (Garon 2017). These spaces offer psychological benefits, enhancing self-worth and providing a sense of belonging (Tajfel 1981; Zubernis & Larsen 2018).

Through active participation, fans shape cultural narratives and form meaningful social bonds. Events like fan conventions and collaborative projects further deepen these connections, transforming fandoms into global communities.

Cons

However, fandoms are not without their challenges. Toxic behaviors like gatekeeping and fan wars can undermine inclusivity, creating divisions within communities (Carey 2023). Harassment and cyberbullying, often amplified by social media, harm mental health and erode the positive aspects of fandom spaces (Leksmono & Maharani 2022).

The video below is a response by popular classical musician YouTubers, TwoSetViolin after Blinks (Blackpink's fandom) attacked them after creating a parody of the girl group's latest comeback in 2022, "Shutdown". The song sampled famous classical music by Niccolò Paganini's second violin concerto, also known as "La Campanella", which prompted the two YouTubers to respond funnily, as it was sort of a crossover between K-pop and classical music. The video below featured hurtful and toxic remarks made by Blinks to TwoSetViolin, further emphasizing the cons of the fandom culture.

Industries also exploit fan loyalty by promoting excessive spending on merchandise or exclusive content, leading to financial strain (Wang 2020). Additionally, the pressure to stay active in fandoms can result in burnout, as fans feel compelled to constantly prove their dedication.

We as a fandom still have a long way to go and grow.

Fandoms are powerful cultural phenomena that bridge creativity, activism, and community. They provide spaces for connection and identity, exemplifying the benefits of participatory culture in a digitally interconnected world.

Yet, the challenges posed by toxicity, exploitation, and performative pressures highlight the need for inclusivity and balance within these spaces. By addressing these issues, fandoms can continue to thrive as hubs of creativity and social change, reflecting the evolving interplay between technology, culture, and human connection.

Bella is not an early bird nor is a morning person. It’s ironic because she is the most energetic member of the group. However, she is committing because she has something special to prepare for her husband’s birthday.

7:30 am

The young wife is the first one in the dorm to wake up while everyone sleeps in because it’s their day off. Bella makes a quick and easy breakfast that she would make when living in America. It’s a classic omelet with toast. 

“Good morning. Wow, it smells good.”

Bella heard Isa’s voice. Her best friend is still in her pajamas, with messy hair in a bun, and a bare face, but she still looks beautiful. Bella finished making her breakfast and sat at the dining table. Isa goes to the kitchen to treat herself with cereal. “You’re up early, which is a shocker.” She chuckles blithely. The younger friend by six months replies, “I have to run some errands to make for Seonghwa’s birthday.” 

Isa’s mouth gaped and says, “What? Are you for real? You do know it’s just a reality show.” She reminds Bella she doesn’t have to do it because she is doing it for entertainment and no strings attached. 

It’s just a reality show.

Those words ring in her head. 

Bella tells Isa, “I know it is, Chaeyoung, but I want to create a healthy relationship with my favorite group. I never considered having idol friends; maybe this could be great for me.” She shrugged her shoulders. 

Isa approaches with her bowl of cereal. Sitting across from Bella, she spoke, “Well, do your best and be careful. What do our fans call it? Delulu or something.” Isa tried pronouncing the well-known K-pop fan term. Bella lets out a snicker and laughs out loud. A confused expression plays on Isa’s face. “What? Did I say it wrong?” She is so clueless that Bella is in a fit of laughter. 

Not in a million years, she would hear her other half say, “Delulu.”

Bella compromises by taking deep breaths. “Yes, you said it right, and no I am not delusion.” She denies it, even if it was a joke. Isa snickered. “You have his group’s albums, photocards, and the solo photoshoot magazine. I think that’s all.” She is mindlessly listing off Bella’s collection of ATEEZ and Seonghwa. Her best friend is just taking it because she is not wrong. 

“Alright, I get it.” Bella semi-believes she is a hardcore fangirl. Isa knows her through and through and she enjoys the embarrassment. 

When breakfast ended, Bella went on an adventure to purchase what she needed. All thanks to her manager, they contacted ATEEZ’s manager to let her know what Seonghwa likes. Even though she is his fan and knows some facts about him, she hopes to make his present super stellar. 

Bella decides to arrange his favorite things in a cute gift basket. 

She found a crafts store to purchase a small one and went on to other places. Bella is a crafting enthusiast so, she’ll design the basket that reminds her of Seonghwa. 

Three hours later, Bella returns to the dorm with a handful of bags. Her members are chilling in the living room and they notice her. They have appalled faces. 

Sumin is the first one to go to her. “Why didn’t you ask for help?” She wonders in a bit of a concerning voice. Sumin grabs some and puts them on the dining room table. Bella sighs and does the same. “I didn’t think you all would be awake by then.” She indicates that the girls will sleep more during their days off. 

Seeun hops off the couch to check out what Bella has brought to the dorm. “Chaeyoung unnie wasn’t joking that you went all out.” She said. Bella looks at Isa, who innocently sips her drink. Isa told the girls about her shopping for her on-screen husband. Seeun’s eyes scanned the pile and one of the items caught her attention. “Aw~ you got a star plushie.” Seeun grabs it from the bag and hugs it. 

Bella nods her head “Yep. It relates to his name.” She stated. Her members all squealed in unison and she playfully rolled her eyes because they would not let her live in peace for the longest time. She clasps her hands together. “Well! I must get going now because I have less than twenty-four hours.” Bella can predict she’ll not get any sleep. 

Sumin chuckled. “Alright, don’t overwork yourself.” Like a gracious leader, she reminds the younger because she is sometimes stubborn to admit she is tired. Bella collects her materials and Seeun hands her the star plushie. “I’ll try to keep my promise.” She winks and walks into the room where she and Isa share. 

As soon as the door gets shut, J asks the leader, “Sumin unnie, do you think she is in love?” 

A genuine smile etches on Sumin’s face. “I’m not going to beat around the brush but it seems like it.” Which is true. All of the girls have never seen Bella so elated over someone. 

Yoon snickered. “I say it’s real. Unless you all want to bet on it.” She has a mischievous glint in her eyes. Sumin frowned. “No, we are not doing that.” She scolded the tallest member. 

Sieun pouts, “You’re no fun, unnie.” Sulking like an upset child.

In the van, Bella is dressed in a beautiful dress with a lightweight knitted coat. Her ebony hair is in a high ponytail with a bow, creating a cute and pure appearance. She decorated Seonghwa’s gift and spent a long time spray painting the basket white with goodies. She also added some things that reminded her of him.

Bella tied silver ribbons into bows, glued a Miffy patch, and hand-painted gray stars on the handle. 

She is on her way to the party and thank goodness her manager contacted ATEEZ’s manager about the location. It still feels like a dream that she is meeting her favorite artists. Bella even tried to keep her calm before leaving the dorm. This will be a story to tell at a family dinner. 

As the PD crew is filming, Bella hops out of the vehicle with the gift basket. She then sees a gentleman standing in front of the building, standing by the entrance. She assumes it’s the ATEEZ manager. 

“Hello.” Bella greeted with politeness. The man is mindlessly looking around until he hears her soft voice. He sees Bella and brings a welcoming smile to his face. “Hello! Ready to see ATEEZ?” The man asked, who looked a bit young, to be a manager. 

Bella delivered a nod. “Yes, and thank you for navigating me here.” She appreciates the kindness. ATEEZ’s manager replies, “You’re very welcome. You know the group, especially Seonghwa, is excited for you.” He tells Bella and opens the door for her. 

She chuckled, “Really? I hope they’ll like me.” The butterflies are back in her stomach. The manager brings a genial smile to his face. “I’m sure they will. But I must admit they are a handful.” He let out the biggest sigh and Bella giggled blithely because she couldn’t imagine caring for ATEEZ 24/7.

They went up to the elevator and stopped at the second floor where all the living spaces are located. “Well, you have arrived at your destination.” The nice manager leads Bella to her husband’s home. She could feel her heart skipping beats. “Thank you so much, sir.” She did a bow for respect and appreciation. The young man shook his head. “You’re welcome and I don’t need the formalities. I’m pretty much almost the same age as them.” He lets out a short laugh. Bella’s assumption was correct. But it does make her question how he can organize a chaotic group. 

The wife puts on a smile. “Okay.” She said. After the manager left, Bella rang the doorbell. She waits a little until a well-known, handsome face opens the door. 

“Oh, hi!” It’s none other than the captain of ATEEZ, Hongjoong. 

Bella does her best not to stutter. “Hello, sunbaenim! Seonghwa oppa invited me!” She reasoned as if he didn’t know about her invitation. Of course, Hongjoong knows because Seonghwa tells him everything. 

“Please, come in!” Hongjoong cordially has Bella enter the place. 

She spots six other members of ATEEZ in the living room doing their thing. They decorated the home very Seonghwa-esque: chrome silver, Animal Crossing, Star Wars, and bunnies. 

“Guys! We have a guest!” Hongjoong informed the members.

Wooyoung turns off his phone and is the first to notice Bella. “Hello! It’s so nice to meet you!” He hops off the couch to bow. His infectious smile plays on his stunning bare face. At once, the rest of them followed Wooyoung and greeted her. 

It now feels like heaven. 

“So nice to meet you all!” Bella bows to her favorite artists. She also sees them not wearing makeup and are in casual clothes. They still looked beautiful. 

Bella could sense the fangirl spirit in her was going crazy. 

To lighten up the mood and make her comfortable, Yunho approaches her with a loving smile. “I see you brought a gift for the birthday boy. And you’re probably wondering where he is at. He is doing a live-stream at the company’s building.” He explained about her husband's missing appearance. 

Hongjoong stands next to her and adds, “Seonghwa just texted me that he’ll be done soon after he opens our gifts.” 

San gives a kind gesture. “You can leave the gift on the kitchen counter. Do you like video games, Bella?” He questions as she puts down the gift basket.

Bella nodded, “Yes, I do! What games do you have?” It seems like a bonding is about to happen.

They sat together in the living room. Bella gets placed in the middle while Yeosang and Mingi are on each side of her. She chose Overcooked, a friendly yet complicated game. 

“Which team do you want to be with?” Jongho asked Bella. He is the biggest gaming enthusiast.

Blue Team: Yeosang, Mingi, and Jongho

Red Team: Hongjoong, Yunho, San, and Wooyung

The dancer replies, “Hmm, I’ll choose the blue team so it can be even.” She picks her avatar, which is a cute snowman. 

Yeosang on her right speaks, “Seonghwa hyung told us you’re a big Atiny.” He recalled the night the eldest expounded on his first date with Bella. She smiles timidly. “Yes. I’ve been following your journey since debut.” Her reply made them feel joyous. 

A bright smile plays on Hongjoong’s face. “That’s amazing. How did you discover us?” He is intrigued to know more about Bella. She then tells the group she discovered them through two music videos, Say My Name and Hala Hala. She had no clue at the time who they were nor her friends ever mentioned them. The girl was enthralled by their music and the members themselves. Bella has gone from a K-pop fan to a K-pop idol. 

Throughout the hour of their video gaming session, the dorm is filled with complaints, raging, and banters. Bella was laughing the entire time because they didn’t seem to care about their image. They have zero filter. Some of the guys did let out profanities when not serving the dishes. But she was having fun with her brother-in-laws. 

“Everyone, I’m home!”

The man of the hour is here. Bella hears her husband and she waves at him. “Hi, Seonghwa oppa!” She said in delight. He beams and a smile pasters onto his handsome face. “Bella you came!” Seonghwa giddies by his running his legs all cutely. He moves himself to the living room to see the bunch playing together. 

“It looks like everyone is in the zone.” Seonghwa detects their focused faces except for Bella. She is looking at him with a tender smile. The brother-in-laws aren’t sensing the tension, but the PD crew is watching the couple and perceives they have some type of emotion in their eyes. 

Flustered, Seonghwa clears his throat. “I’m glad to see you all are bonding. Which team is winning?” He wondered. 

Yeosang, Mingi, Jongho, and Bella speak in unison. “Blue team!” While earning some groans from the opposing team. Seonghwa claps his hands. “Hwaiting!” He chanted.

“Wow! Your room is so cool!”

“Thank you! It’s a lot smaller in person.”

Bella can tell because Seonghwa’s Lego collection, in a glass case, takes up the majority of his bedroom. She comments, “It’s cool though. It screams Seonghwa oppa.” She motions her hands in the air. Seonghwa chuckled because it was adorable. He also distinguishes how she looks today. Gorgeous, lovely, adorable, stunning, and so perfect. 

But he went with, “You look great today.” It sounded unconvincing and Seonghwa wanted to slap himself. Bella halts from examining his room and turns to him. She responded, “Thanks. You look great as well.” Who was she kidding? He looks exceptionally magnificent. Seonghwa wore a feminine yet elegant white top with a pretty tied knot on the front and his raven hair was permed. 

Seonghwa thanked her wholeheartedly. Bella then notices an open suitcase filled with unfolded clothes by the closet. Her husband follows where her eyes are on. “Yeah, I’m still in the process of packing for Coachella.” He rubs the back of his neck because seeing a little mess is embarrassing. Bella gasps, “Oh, I forgot that it’s coming up! Congratulations!” She is proud of her husband and her brother-in-laws. They’ll be the first K-pop male group at Coachella. 

“Very appreciated.” Seonghwa feels grateful for the opportunity.

Soon enough, the couple takes a seat by the desk. Seonghwa grabbed an extra for Bella, which was Mingi’s desk chair. “Aw~ you displayed our pictures.” Bella points at their photobooth strips on the pegboard, next to the computer monitor. Seonghwa grins at the memories from their first date. “I love putting up things that are special to me.” He reasoned.

Bella adores Seonghwa even more than ever. 

“Are you going to miss me while I’m in California?” He asked out of the blue and it had Bella taken back. Seonghwa seemed a bit upset about being gone for two weeks. Bella nods her head. “Yes, I will miss you! But we’ll see each other again.” She tries to assure him. 

Seonghwa likes that Bella will miss him while he is away. Maybe it’s because he never had a significant other who waits for him to return. 

His wife realizes what she told him and her cheeks blush rosy red. 

Seonghwa would show Bella which Lego set took him the longest to complete, and how doing live-streams in his room is comforting because Atinys are his safe place. In the middle of their conversation, Hongjoong knocks on the door from the outside. 

“Yeah!” Seonghwa responded loudly. 

“When do you want to blow your cake?” His best friend asked. 

Seonghwa checks his phone to see the time. It’s close to evening and the sun is going down. “Let’s do it now!” He answers to Hongjoong. The members begin to set up the table for him. 

Bella looks at Seonghwa with a quizzical look. “I’m curious. I know Hongjoong is your best friend and your group and Atinys likes the idea of the parent and children dynamic. Do you both still do it?” Her question is silly to her, but Seonghwa finds it interesting. 

He answers the question. “Sometimes. Like, most of them know how to care for themselves, especially in public. However, there will be times when the members need us. Not too long ago, Jongho was concerned about his vocals during the Coachella preparation. He went to me about feeling unconfident and anxious. I reminded him to take it easy and you will get it right.” Seonghwa did feel his heart ached when he saw the youngest’s pressured mentality. 

Bella grows more fond of their relationship. She knows they’re like a real family, but hearing it from her husband is profound. “You have a nice heart, oppa.” She comments on his good nature. Seonghwa etched a smile on his plump lips. He slowly leans his body to be close to Bella’s space. She has no clue what he is doing, but she is screaming on the inside.

“May I?” Seonghwa wants her consent in a gentle voice. 

Bella goes with it by delivering a small nod. She closed her eyes and felt his lips peck her forehead. 

Their second affection was a short and sweet kiss. 

Afterward, everyone gathered at the dining table to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ and send best wishes to their Seonghwa. Then comes Bella’s present opening. 

“Wait?! You decorated this?” Mingi points his finger at the customized gift basket. The guys were astonished too. Bella giggles with a nod. “I did it yesterday and put things that reminded me of Seonghwa oppa.” Five hours was worth it. 

The husband pouts and says, “You did all of this for me. Thank you so much!” He cutely thanked his wife. Bella pats his head. “You’re welcome!” She’ll only do it for him. The members watch their moment unravel and it’s amusing. 

Seonghwa looks inside of the basket and he can’t contain his happiness. 

An Animal Crossing Lego set, a silver bracelet with a star charm, a handmade pop-up card, the star plushie, and his favorite snacks. 

The card reads, 

Happy Birthday, Seonghwa oppa!

July 29th - Independent Excursion Post Part I, The Impact of Taiwanese Art

Still have the cough. Today was our first full day in Kaohsiung, and it was also our first free day. We went out to some of the bars last night and Peter came (our tour guide)! It was fun to see him outside of working hours. The drink I got was called a Melon Ball and they definitely pour heavy-handed. Anyway, for that reason, I slept in a little bit today. Unfortunately, breakfast stops at 9:30, which should be a crime, so I missed food this morning. At around 11, I was ready to get started on my independent excursion. For my project, I decided to find local art around the area, such as statues, graffiti, and murals. I ended up walking about two miles in total as I was touring the city looking for artwork. I will expand on this more during the reflection portion. I also found this really cute bookstore and while it was definitely overpriced, I got some cool souvenirs for myself and my family members. After all this, I was starving, so I decided to head back to the hotel and pick up some lunch. I got some ramen at an OK Mart (they completely stole K-Mart’s brand) and then I headed upstairs to my room. I cleaned out my bag, journaled a bit, and talked to my friends. Tonight, I think we are watching Deadpool in theaters, but I am just hoping it is not all in Chinese because I am pretty limited to 你好，���謝， 和再見. I am also pretty sure I am going shopping with Amy and Zoe because Amy’s birthday is soon, but I need to be careful about spending any more because I broke the bank a bit today.

Academic Reflection

Taiwan, especially Kaohsiung, is overflowing with artwork. As I walked the streets, I constantly saw different forms of expression like graffiti, huge murals, and statues. The art in Taiwan reflects many different aspects. It varies from individual expression to global views. Taiwan struggles to find one cohesive identity because of its unique history. They have been under different forms of government, ruled by different countries, and influenced by different cultures for hundreds of years. In fact, “few nations face a future more fraught with uncertainty than Taiwan. Even whether Taiwan is a nation is questioned” (Copper, 2009, p.227). The uncertainty of one true identity and a stable future is something that Taiwan has been struggling with for some time. Their art reflects this uncertainty in some aspects by showcasing the mixing pot of cultures that have influenced their art style. China has a big impact on the style, which was definitely displayed as I walked the city. There were statues of traditional Chinese-looking soldiers and paintings of traditional Chinese temples. There is also some Western and Japanese influence. Paintings of cherry blossom trees littered the streets and I saw a huge statue of a character that resembled Bumblebee from Transformers. Graffiti is also common, and while it has long been argued whether or not it is beneficial or detrimental to society, it plays an important part in the art scene. Since Kaohsiung specifically embraces art, it has been named the “street art capital of Taiwan”. Not only does Taiwan have an impressive amount of art to view for free on the streets, but the art also supports the economy. The box office for arts and cultural events in 2022 exceeded $36.3 million US (Wu, 2022). Art museums and shows are a way for people to enjoy an aesthetic experience and challenge their minds to understand the meaning behind some more convoluted pieces. It is an important part of the life and economy here. The art not only displays the impact of the world on Taiwan, but art is an important part of psychology. Art can promote well-being. A study done in 2024 led to the conclusion that artistic expression holds promise as a powerful tool for promoting resilience, reducing stress, fostering social connection, and increasing self-awareness (Smith, 2024). Not only does art display cultural beliefs and personal ideas, but it also is a tool that can improve mental health. Complex activities like painting, drawing, sculpting, and creating music can help the individual process complex emotions and deal with hardship. When people are going through a difficult time, it is often recommended that they find an outlet such as art in order to process emotions and funnel them into a separate facet. Some of the art I saw displayed these complicated emotions. There were hexagons filled with smiling, sad, stagnant, and angry faces on one mural that really stood out to me. It makes me consider what this person may have been going through at the time, provoking thought, curiosity, and empathy with the viewer. So many different emotions can be conveyed with art, and expressing them is important to maintaining mental health, but it also is so beneficial to the audience that views it. Studies have shown that viewing art generates similar patterns of brain activity to other pleasurable experiences, such as food or addictive drugs (Gallo, Giampietro, Zunszain, Tan, 2021). Not only is it pleasant for the viewer, but art can also engage the reward system in the brain, which can reduce stress levels (Gallo et al., 2021). Overall, Taiwanese street art is not only a reflection of the impact of their culture and country, but it is a beneficial outlet and positive experience for all who get to enjoy it.

Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu (July 15, 2024) — The Quest International School (TQIS), Tiruppur, paid tribute to the revered leader Bharat Ratna K. Kamaraj on his birth anniversary, July 15. The school community gathered to honor Kamaraj's immense contributions to education and social progress in India.

The celebration commenced with an audiovisual presentation that provided an enriching knowledge session on Kamaraj’s inspiring life history, highlighting his tireless efforts to enhance the educational landscape of Tamil Nadu and his significant role in India's freedom struggle.

Principal Durga K expressed her admiration for Kamaraj, stating, "Though the day has passed, our respect for his impact remains. His legacy continues to inspire us. Let's strive to follow his path and make a difference in society."

Students and staff members participated eagerly, reflecting on Kamaraj's pioneering initiatives, including the introduction of free education and the midday meal scheme, which transformed the lives of countless children by providing them access to education.
