arya stark: has a close bond to her direwolf - the living sigil of house stark. nymeria has formed her own massive pack of wolves. like her bond human she is committed to her pack. arya is a powerful warg able to maintain the bond despite years of separation and an ocean between them. she also uses her skinchanging abilities on cats. the northern magic is strong in her blood.

arya stark: is the only stark child to get ned stark’s “the pack survives” speech its her main motivator is life. she values her family, friends and community above all else. arya feels it is her responsibility to protect and provide for her people. she prioritizes their needs above her own. she remembers ned’s lessons about the man who passe the setence should swing the sword too

arya stark: is the stark closest to winterfells smallfolk. she cherishes them and listens to what they say just like ned taught his heir. his words were to know your people and let them know you “dont ask them to die for a stranger” again, arya is the only living stark child to recall this lesson. the smallfolk affectionately called her arya underfoot. they knew her very well. to arya needle is winterfalls grey walls and the laughter of its people.

arya stark: also has a notable connection to the northern army and lords. she served roose bolton and was kept prisoner in harrenhal same as robett glover. arya helps feels free him and his men. arya gives mercy to dying northern at the stoney sept too in the form of one last drink of water but she is able to watch as they are ultimately killed for their crimes. 

arya stark: has lived the life of a servant and member of the lower class. she has done all the manual labor that the upper class take for granted like cooking, cleaning, serving, and mending clothes. she understands the burden of these duties because she has experienced them first hand. 

arya stark: has keen observational skills, can speak multiple languages, is good with mathematics, is stated to be more suited to running a household than her older sister, can detect when people are lying, has learned to carefully conceal her own thoughts and feelings 

arya stark: is very concerned with the pursuit of justice often for crimes that are ignored or even encouraged by the ruling class (torture, murder and rape - usually against the smallfolk) she even challenged the crown prince when he was harming mycah. arya acted as a ruler should on the banks of the trident by protecting an innocent. 

arya stark: is a pragmatic, compassionate, determined and brave girl. she acts decisively and boldly. she uses “the true seeing” to accurately assess situations and remembers exactly how things happened. she does not make a habit of hiding from the truth. 

arya stark: thinks winterfell is “arya’s place” and desperately wants to return. in grrm’s own words that is what shes always wanted. she is tired of running and craves a safe, stable community with her pack

unpopular opinion: I want arya to be the lady of storm’s end. i want her to have everything she hasn’t had since s1; security, love, family and safety. i want her to have a title that none of the other traditional ladies thought she’d have, i want her to stay in westeros - to be lord of a holdfast - to revolutionize and challenge what it means to be a lady.

don’t tell me that’s not more interesting than “arya leaves her entire family behind to ExPlORE the WoRLD.”

I saw a wip of this and decided to finish it!

In any case, I have a lot of feelings about how Gendry and Arya should’ve met in season eight, and what I was given — while adequate — didn’t totally do these two justice. I feel like they both carry a lot of guilt from their last encounter, both stem from the fact they each didn’t think they protected one another enough.

I really wish the show could explore both of them confronting their past while attempting to deal with their future (platonic or romantic) together in a nicer and more authentic way, but alas 😩

Gendrya Kinktober Day 31: freeform

When Arya walked into the Great Hall wearing a grey gown and a wolf’s mask, Gendry almost swallowed his tongue.

He’d only ever seen her in a dress on a handful of occasions, including the first day they met when she was eight and ten. Their fathers had forced them to exchange pleasantries under the suffocating expectations of both their houses. She wore a simple blue dress that brought out the fierceness in her eyes. From the way she kept tugging at the dress’s sleeves, he could tell she didn’t wear them often. Odd for a highborn lady.

He only uncrossed his arms to briefly hold Arya’s hand and play the part of a proper lordling. She’d snatched her hand back as if burned.

Now, her eyes swept the room and met his. She didn’t cast a shy downwards glance like the other ladies in court. In fact, she smirked.

That’s what he liked best. That she was unlike any woman he’d ever met.
