I struggle to find a comprehensive list of shows Aurora is performing. I want to know all her upcoming UK dates. So far I know of 2 Dublin shows, Lattitude Festival and Glastonbury Festival as well as a gig for charity. If she announces more I'd like an easy place to check rather than search festival announcements to see if she's listed.
Songkick seems well aware of the shows here. There’s always the list on her official website but some shows are not listed… Those are the only ones I check personally!

Ideas for community project images
I took this first image when I went to Lattitude music festival in 2019. It's of my little sister on one of my friends shoulders... I love how you can see people in the background and the sun beginning to set.
Tumblr media
I took these images while I was in Tanzania on a 2017 school exchnage trip... I feel as though they capture community perfectly but community of a different culture.

I know that everyone says it but I can't believe that 2017 is over but at the same time it feels like it dragged on forever. I think that this is probably my best reading year yet since I read 55 books and a lot of them are new all time favourites. In this post I'll talk about 12 (kind of) books (it's actually more since I counted series and books by the same author as one, but shhhh, it's 12). These aren't all 2017 releases, but just some of the books I really loved this year.
These will be in no particular order since I just can't choose my absolute favourite because I love them all so much.
1. “Lord of Shadows” by Cassandra Clare Since this is the second book in The Dark Artifices series I'm not gonna talk about the plot, but if you are interested I have a review as well as a spoilery discussion of this book. This is Cassandra Clare's newest release and I absolutely loved it. The Dark Artifices is my favourite series by her so far, you can really see how much she's grown as a writer, her works have become so much more confident and just please read this series, it's just pure gold.
2. “Six of Crows” and “Crooked Kingdom” by Leigh Bardugo In “Six of Crows” Kaz Brekker is offered a lot of money but to receive it he has to pull off an impossible heist. To do this he needs a crew of people crazy enough to help him. This series is just brilliant... Leigh Bardugo's writing is beautiful and amazing and I just can't describe how much I loved these books. I have reviews for both of them - “Six of Crows” and “Crooked Kingdom” I am also very excited to read The Grisha trilogy this year.
3. “To kill a mockingbird” by Harper Lee I think that pretty much everyone has heard of this book since it's such an important classic, but in case you haven't - this follows the main character  Scout and you get to see how she learns about the world. It's an amazing story that deals with racism and since it's told from a child's point of view it's even more heartbreaking but also more amazing. I truly loved it and the characters and think that it's a book which everyone should read.
4. “Gemina” by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff This is the second book in The Illuminae Files series so I can't really give you a synopsis. I loved this book as much as the first one if not more. The first book “Illuminae” follows Kady Grant who's home planet is under attack so she needs to evacuate. But when they get to the space ships they're faced with a new problem - a deadly plague. Both of these books follow awesome female characters and are told through files and pictures in a way I've never seen before.
5. “Fahrenheit 451″  by Ray Bradbury Like “To kill a Mockingbird” this is another timeless classic that most people have read. It follows Guy Montag who is a fireman. His job is to burn books, which supposedly cause unhappiness and so are forbidden. Even so Guy Montag isn't happy... This was a very powerful and interesting read. I love Bradbury's writing, it's so beautiful and I definitely recommend this book. I'm also excited to read more of his works.
6. “See you in the cosmos” by Jack Cheng This follows Alex, an eleven year old who loved space and rockets. Alex wants to launch his golden iPod into space so he goes on a journey to the Southwest high-lattitude rocket festival, but after that his destinations keep changing as he meets new people and goes on this road trip that will change his life. This book was absolutely adorable. It's told through the recordings on Alex's iPod. I just loved everything about it and even though it's a middle grade novel I think that everyone can read this and enjoy because it's such a heartwarming tale.
7. “The upside of unrequited” and “Simon VS. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” by Becky Albertalli These two books are some of the few contemporaries that I really like. Simon VS. follows the main character Simon who is gay but isn't out yet. He has a boyfriend, Blue, who goes to his school but Simon doesn't know who Blue is. One of their emails gets into the wrong hands and Simon is suddenly being blackmailed by one of his classmates.  “The upside of unrequited” follows Molly who has had twenty-six crushes but has never acted on any of them, but then the cute hipster Will enters her life who maybe is more-than-crush material. The only problem is her nerdy coworker Reed on whom she couldn't possibly have a crush. Or could she? (Yes, I know that that description sounds weird, sorry, I'm just not the best at writing synopsises) Both of these books are extremely cute and have a lot of diversity - as I already said, Simon is gay, and Molly is a fat MC. These books were also really quick reads, I think I finished each of them in like two days, they will definitely get you out of a reading slump. Even though I usually don't like romance contemporaries all that much, these have made it on my 2017 favourites list so that should count for something. I'm super excited for Becky's next release “Leah on the offbeat” which follows Simon's best friend Leah and comes out on April 24th 2018.
8. “Geekerella” by  Ashley Poston This Cinderella retelling follows Elle who is a huge Starfield fan, it’s the classic science-fiction series, and Darien who is the main star in the new adaption of Starfield. When Elle sees a cosplay contest at the ExcelsiCon she's determined to win unless her stepsisters get there first... Winning the contest would be the ticket out of her stepmother's home that she's been waiting for. Once again, this was so cute! I loved the characters and the plot and the representation of Fandom. This was a cute lighthearted read that you'll probably be able to read in a day or two.
9. “Wishbones” by  Virginia Macgregor Feather has two wishes: to get her mum healthy again and to win the Junior UK swimming championships. Sadly her mum refuses to cooperate and after a while Feather's mission to help her mum becomes an investigation to find out what her mum doesn't want her to know. This book surprised me. I found it in a used bookshop when I was in London. I had no idea if I was going to like it but I decided to pick it up anyways and I definitely made the right choice. I was surprised by how serious it was. It was a very interesting read. There is a trigger warning for eating disorders.
10. “Turtles all the way down” by John Green I still can't believe that John Green has a new book out. This follows Aza who suffers from OCD. Her childhood friend Davis's dad disappears and Aza together with her best friend decide to uncover the mystery. Of course I loved this book... It gave a peculiar insight to what it's like to have OCD and for that it is very important. It is a very character driven story, the plot is left more in the background and the most important thing is Aza's thoughts and what's happening inside her head so this will not be for everyone. Trigger warning: OCD
11. “Carry on” by Rainbow Rowell I'm a bit late to the Rainbow Rowell train but I am finally catching up. This follows Simon Snow who is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. It's a very entertaining story, I hadn't had this much fun reading a book in a long time. It does resemble Harry Potter a lot, but it didn't bother me much. I did also read “Eleanor & Park” this year but I didn't like it much so I don't know how much I'll like Rainbow Rowell's other works.
12. “A darker shade of magic”, “A gathering of shadows” and “A conjuring of light” by V. E. Schwab This trilogy follows Kell who is one of the last Antari -people who can travel between the three Londons, Red, White and Grey- and Lila Bard who is a thief in Grey London. Kell is a smuggler who brings things to the other Londons, which is forbidden, until one time he takes with him something that he probably never should have touched. On the run from people who want to take this mysterious package Kell runs into Delilah Bard... The magic system in these books is absolutely insane. That's also the reason why it took me a bit to get into the first book - there is quite a lot of setup but it's all necessary. I am definitely excited to pick up some more of Victoria Shwab's works this year.
So those were some of my favourites from 2017. Did you read any of these books? What were some of your favourites?

Line Up poster inspo
We wanted to make a line up style poster to show which universities we would be coming to. I started looking the Lattitude and Boardmasters line up poster. I realised that line up posters are designed very differently than normal ones. Some of the type was barely readable it was so small.
Line Up posters take hierarchy to the extreme and make it so that the main acts are very obvious and you have to look closer to see the less important acts. It is also separated with lines and has very little images. This might work for ours if we use the festival as the main event and the universities as the less important events.

PHOTOS: SWEAT Live at Lattitude 30 - British Music Embassy (SXSW)
The British Music Embassy was back in Austin and once again took quarters at Lattitude 30, a cozy venue that gets equipped with the most modern technology during festival time. Seeing artists perform in that venue and its beautifully lit stage is a great joy in itself yet some of the acts we saw there also managed to delight through their music and their stage presence.
One band that is very high up on this list is SWEAT, a quintet from South London. Listening through Sweat’s songs on Spotify and SoundCloud, I knew I wanted to see them live and they did not disappoint!
Frontman Dante Traynor is a charismatic performer and knows how to captivate the audience and the band’s edgy indie pop songs were beautifully brought to life. This was definitely an inspired and inspiring show  and one I remember fondly. Looking forward to learn what’s up next for SWEAT.

The Magic Gang @ Liverpool Guild of Students (24/3/17)
Joining Circa Waves as part of their sold out show at the Liverpool Guild of Students last Friday night, were 4-piece band, The Magic Gang. The Brighton-based band describe themselves as “melody makers” and “vibe crafters” and so I was very excited as to what they had in store.
It was hard to believe that they were actually a support act for the night. They had a host of loyal fans there to see them, with the audience on each other’s shoulders and throwing beer everywhere like it was their own headline show. It was great to have such a vibrant atmosphere created before the main act had even appeared on stage. You can definitely see why they have a reputation for being such a fun band to watch live.

The Magic Gang have the perfect combination of catchy tunes, energetic stage presence and a geek-chic charm created mainly by lead singer, Jack, complete with Harry Potter style glasses – you can’t help but enjoy yourself when watching them. There were underlying blues/jazz vibes to some of their tracks which I really enjoyed. Their track, Blue for You was definitely a personal favourite of the night. It wouldn’t be amiss from any 50’s/60’s teen film, and was filled with blues chords that Presley himself would be proud of. I was particularly impressed with bassist, Angus Taylor. Due to the emphasis of a creating more soulful pop songs, there is much more diversity in what instruments you actually hear in their music, rather than just your standard lead guitar and drums, which I really enjoy. Reverting back to the more traditional pop sounds created by bands such as The Beach Boys, does make The Magic Gang stand out more in what is becoming quite a generic pop scene right now.
There was a good mixture of upbeat tempo and more relaxed and chilled tracks within their set, which really gave the audience a chance to hear their skills as musicians. There were some really great harmonies and also some impressive falsetto too. I started to wish we could skip the ever looming exams and go straight to summer, as their music is absolutely perfect for listening to with a group of friends, in the summer time, complete with beer in hand.
Tumblr media
The Magic Gang have a great 2017 planned. Already providing MistaJam with his ‘Hottest Record in The World’ on Radio 1, with the single, How Can I Compete, a headline tour starting at the end of April (finishing at Liverpool’s Sound City in May), and also being announced to play Lattitude Festival in the summer. If you’re a fan of The Wombats or Coasts, I reckon you’re going to love this band. Their third EP, aptly titled EP Three, also came out on Liverpool show day in preparation for release of their debut album sometime in the future.
The Magic Gang, like their name, are magical. They already have a large fan base which I am sure is only going to expand as they get more airtime on the radio and play even larger crowds. As their popularity grows, I really hope they stand their ground and stick to their sound right now, as there is a risk that they could potentially sound a bit commercial and predictable. From seeing them live however, I get the impression that they know what sound they want to make, and hopefully this continues with them in the future.  They have gained a new fan in myself, and I will definitely be following their progress. Now all we need is some sunshine, so I can have them blasting through my speakers whilst driving in my car looking like I could fit into any cliché film scene.

OXFAM: UP CYCLING
Tumblr media
Oxfam organises and encourages people to donate their unwanted items of clothing and materials that are no longer in use. The clothing that can not be re-sold due to damage etc will then be re-worked and designed by volunteers from Oxfam to create new and exciting garments to not only raise money for ending poverty but to try and decrease the amount of textile waste each year going to landfill. This is a great Eco friendly fashion approach to re-using items. This is what they call UP CYCLING. Pretty exciting right?
Tumblr media
Above is an example of a up-cycled shirt designed by volunteers from Oxfam.
And that’s not all, they offer opportunity’s to young people to volunteer and help up cycle clothing to then be sold at festivals such as Glastonbury, Leeds festival and many more. They give you the opportunity to work along side them at the festivals which is an extremely exciting opportunity. And what greater feeling knowing that you are actually saving the environment.
Tumblr media
Above is the Oxfam shop at Lattitude festival.
They have a main warehouse nearby based in Batley, where they take on volunteers and show them the ropes, that is where the up cycling takes place! This is a chance for anyone to get involved and learn exciting new skills as well as doing it all for a good cause.
Tumblr media
Above are a few images associated with the wastesaver warehouse in Batley focusing on up cycling.
The world should be great full for organisations like Oxfam and their campaign’s into tackling world issues. Due to the up cycling activity, this has decreased clothing waste ending up in landfill and is raising awareness to many more young people of the new generation on how bad unsustainable fashion really is. Slowly but surely this is making a huge difference!
