August 13, 2024 - Liz Truss, the Conservative ex-prime minister of the UK (who famously did not outlast a head of iceberg lettuce) abruptly left an event in Suffolk where she was discussing the US elections and promoting her book, after activists lowered a beautiful lettuce banner behind her while she was expressing her support for Donald Trump.
Truss later said the prank was “not funny”, and that Led By Donkeys, the group behind the prank, were “far-left activists” who used the stunt as a means to “intimidate people and suppress free speech”. [video]/[article]

Strada JB 4/88, 1974. Designed by Harris Mann, who worked for Ford UK before moving to BMC and who died earlier this year in August. The Strada was mid-engined using a Formula Ford 1.6 litre racing engine and fibreglass bodywork made is Suffolk. Three prototypes were made including one for crash testing. It was presented at the Earls Court Motor Show and over 100 orders were taken. However disaster struck with one of the founders taking gravely ill, Britain was in the grip of the 3 day working week the 70s energy crisis. The costs involved in moving to full production proved prohibitive and the company was voluntarily liquidated

Suffolk - Flatford (2) (3) (4) by Jules
Via Flickr:
(1) Bridge Cottage (2) Cow blocking log bridge over stream (3) Flatford Mill - Willy Lott's Cottage (4) Valley Farm is the oldest building on site at Flatford. Built in the mid-15th century, it's a medieval Great Hall House that was home to wealthy yeoman farmers up until the early 1900s.
