I think something has to be said about mech-techs because they come in different breeds just as mechwarriors and mechs themselves.
You got your rank and file army mech-techs. They typically work with stock models and pre-arranged configurations for omnis. Practising and drilling it in until they can do it in their sleep while under and on fire without missing a beat. The same goes for a repair. They know where everything goes in the hunk of junk and can service with precision. Most of the lower rungs are people who can barely remember to breathe but can lift and hold things. Typically, you get some senior techs that have brains and can give recommendations of field refits. The dread variant is the ones who know they are too competent to be fired and leverage that against mechwarriors and senior officers.
Mercenary mech-techs are space wizards in that they usually care for and manage highly specialised machines that only sometimes resemble the original mech. Cables and ammofeed systems have been rerouted, assembled, moved, and re-used for another system. A melange of disparate systems that have all the cooperative abilities of fussy babies past naptime. That somehow, against all odds in a way barely they comprehend, works. So, of course, they will be a bit upset if you lose the machine. Or blow it up or... you know. All the things a mercenary can mess up a mech with. Dumbest thing I heard was leaving it overnight in a bar and having the darn thing stolen by some space hicks. Also if something is stupid or does not work with a mech design you had in mind. They are going to hit you with clipboards.
Clan technicians are made to serve without question, and they are good at it. Good at repairing, realigning omnis, and working really hard, they seem able to work more than twenty-four hours a day. They will do whatever you tell them to without hesitation. Even if you mutter something from a fever pitched dream of a Wimber Tolf, a mad cat with the rocket pods in the arms and the lasers in the shoulders. They will do it. The only thing they will say something about is a tonnage mismatch. Terrific at maintaining equipment and weapons. But also, they will not do something unless you order them first. Often working on whatever the highest ranking warrior told them to do last.
Then you have the periphery mech-techs. People who own welders and plasma cutters and a bit of elbow grease and a resume so filled with lies it may just qualify as a politician's speech. They can bolt anything to a mech. Heck they will bolt anything to mech. Weld it there. The rust bucket mechs they get in the periphery are usually hardy enough that they can hold up to their creativity. Leading to maddening makeshift designs at times. The ones who figure out mechs at least a bit graduate and begin to staple them together. Creating franken mechs. Things that moves that should not. Piles of ferro-metal slabs of armour and myomer that shamble in open defiance of logic. Still you got to admire that somebody thought to string things together. And make it work.
Of course, you have a bundle of mechtechs that break out of these molds and find their own way. As people do. But they are less seen behind the moneymakers, the flash, and the glamour of the mechwarriors. But in the end, it does not really matter what kind of mechtech you are or if you are a mechwarrior. We are all happy deep down when we get back the mechbay alive. Ideally, with a mech, but sometimes you might not. In those moments, just remember it is a whole lot easier to rebuild a mech than it is to rebuild a life.

the first time the powerpuff girls get sick in the wayne manor, the batfam are confused to find professor utonium decked out in what is basically an armor. they’re kinda thinking the worse like omg since ppg is basically a science experiment gone wrong, what if their genetic makeup makes it so that they are highly contagious when riddled with sickness?
right path about the worry and concern, wrong destination as they find out later when prof comes out of the girls’ room donning a welding mask with burnt marks that look like it was made from a laser and frost growing from his pants.
the worst case scenario ever, the girls lose control of their powers when sick AND they have this weird triplet thing of getting sick simultaneously so. triple the fun
bruce is so surprised at the durability of welding masks and frankly, so is utonium. bruce is also thinking about how much the eventual repairs would be and how to upgrade the manor, or at least the girls’ room, to be able to withstand whatever chaos might unfold.
bruce is also kinda excited cuz the dude made his own bat tech and built the watchtower so he’s kinda taking this as a challenge to see his capabilities of making more stuff more durable and will hold its own.
doesn’t take long for bruce, tim and the other techies to build quarantine suits that are equipped with EVERYTHING (every member of the family has their own suit just in case the dads or alfred weren’t around)
bruce and utonium stay up all night looking over their daughters and making a list of rules and precautions for the next time the girls get sick

'91 is a drag field that demands quick response and power from the engine, clutch, suspension, and even a single drop of oil or gasoline, as well as durability and transmission ability to handle instantaneous high power. -In '95-'96, the ``HKS R32 DRAG GT-R'' won the series championship in the RRC Drag Race Championship for three consecutive years. The following year, in 1997, the ``HKS DRAG 180SX'' in the BERC Drag Race Championship Pro Stock class and the ``HKS R33 DRAG GT-R'' in the Pro GT-R class achieved the Avec Championship. Having achieved one goal in 1997, what we aimed for in 1998 is:
Quarter mile time in 9 seconds with FF base vehicle. They then talked about their know-how from drag racing to date, and ``HKS FF DRAG CELICA'' made its debut. The first goal was achieved on October 9, 1998 at Sendai Highlands with a time of 9.886 seconds. Putting Sylffa in the spotlight: 1, 8, 13 and 30!

Ty so much for the ask!! Time to stuff another decent wall of lore under a cut! Because yep, this one's definitely gonna be long, too.
1. Do they fit well into asuran society or are they more at home with other races? How do they feel about fellow asura? Is it because of their personality or something else? Is there any deal maker or breaker?
Sylffa tends to be pretty adaptable, shifting gears depending on who she's working with and what they expect. But when it comes to what group she LIKES more... She finds asura society way too stuffy for the most part, too much bureaucracy. Sylffa's more the type to want to just go out and get her hands dirty, paperwork be damned. On top of that, she's more than a bit fed up with their tendency to hoard knowledge all to themselves; Sylffa doesn't see the point in making things that will never actually see a practical usage. It's actually a big reason why she got along with Ruju! They might have opposite temperaments, but their interests are pretty similar. Likewise, she tends to prefer other asura that break the mold a fair bit, too.
Other races tend to find her madcap inventing style of 'throw things at the wall until something sticks' a bit unnerving though, so everywhere has its drawbacks. At least the charr usually like it when she straps laser cannons to everything, so that's a win? The jetpack that also launches shrapnel bombs was a hit, too.
All that said, she found herself most at home working with the Priory and eventually the Pact. There she can really put her wild imagination to work, coming up with all sorts of bizarre ideas that no dragon could possibly see coming. And mingling with all these other races gave her all sorts of new ideas, inspiring even crazier concepts than she'd ever had before. Variety is the spice of life as far as she's concerned; Sylffa's at her happiest getting to meet all sorts of people from different cultures and walks of life. It gives her the opportunity to explore much different perspectives and really stretch her creative wings! A lot of the time their ideas inspire her next project.
8. Do/did they have a krewe? If yes, describe them, their roles and tasks. If not, why?
She did, though she eventually left it behind to join the Priory. They'd been a small band of Dynamics alumni that all graduated together with her, just a few years above Ruju. While Sylffa doesn't work with them directly anymore she DOES keep in contact; they've always got a new story to share about whatever nonsense they've gotten into.
Sometimes they send her some of their newest tech, too.
Their specialty tends to vary a lot, though they have a soft spot for handheld machinery, particularly automated tools and equipment. Most agree that the best plasma-based welding tools in Rata Sum use their designs, and they double as a mid-range blast cannon in a pinch. A fully functional multitool! What's not to like about that?
13. What's their field of research of choice? Are they pursuing it or is something else taking priority? If they don't have one or more, why not?
Sylffa graduated from Dynamics with a specialty in engineering, though what that covers is pretty broad for her! She's worked on everything from the plasma multitool mentioned above, to specialized defensive golemites that bind together to form temporary barriers, to improved scanning hardware designed to increase sensitivity and reduce interference, to figuring out ways to build weapons into things that don't normally have weapons on them. Whatever she's working on, though, you can bet it's designed with field usability in mind. If it can't take a hit from a minotaur charging it down at full velocity what's the point??
Sylffa also assisted with some of the early engineering for the Pact airships, though that massive undertaking was very much a team effort. It's probably what she's the most proud of, though!
She doesn't have much interest in maintaining patents or writing research papers though; Sylffa likes using her knowledge base for practical applications, finding that much more interesting and more fulfilling, too. Seeing her work actually help people-- even if just by making construction a bit easier-- is like a proof of concept. She doesn't need recognition from the Council or a bunch of professors. Being appreciated by the people actually using her designs is worth far more to her than some award she could stick on a shelf.
30. Free space for 3 pieces of trivia about your asura!
- During Sylffa's first year at Dynamics she was BRIEFLY assigned as Ceara's roommate. This arrangement lasted less than a week, largely because Ceara didn't want a roommate and made the experience as infuriatingly insufferable as possible. This little asura tried VERY hard to break through that icy exterior, but Ceara just wasn't having it. Sylffa finally gave up and requested a transfer after she returned to the dorms to find her bed had been "accidentally" subjected to an anti-gravity experiment, and it was now irreversibly stuck to the ceiling. Under less antagonistic circumstances she might've found that funny, though.
- Sylffa's actually a Warrior, Berserker specifically! She has no magic to speak of, but while she doesn't fight much she can hold her own in a scrap when push comes to shove. Sylffa tends to rely a lot on augmenting her weaponry with technology, building bizarre contraptions that enhance the power of whatever she happens to be wielding-- and she really will use ANYTHING. If it's in range, she'll eagerly smack something with it. Sylffa is a firm believer that anything can be a weapon if you're creative enough.
- This girl is actually one of the big deciding factors that shifts Ruju's path across different timelines, and the reason that him going to Dynamics leads to becoming the Commander. They knew each other as little kids, so when she recognized him in college she quickly reconnected and pulled him into her friend group-- which in turn led to him giving up his bully shtick and meeting his own future krewe. The two still stay in contact long after, with her occasionally sending him weird experimental tech once they're both in the Pact. Sometimes he uses it, but he keeps a lot of it for mementos.

A corner of the lab crackled.
Entrapta glanced up from the deadly laser she was welding together. Some of the older equipment across the room hummed to life, and a glowing portal opened in the air. A young man and a not at all young man tumbled out of it. Entrapta brightened when she recognized them.
“Oh! Hello, extra-dimensional friends! It’s been a while.”
Finn leapt to his feet while Simon remained face down on the floor, groaning.
“Yeah, we haven’t seen you since Marcy’s house party!” Finn said. “Actually, is that sword lady still around? We’re here on adventure biz.”
Entrapta pulled her welding mask up. “No, Adora’s in space right now. Doing space stuff,” she added, with only a hint of envy. “I can still help you out, though! I’m something of an adventurer myself.”
Finn considered this seriously, stroking the short beginnings of a beard. Beside him, Simon staggered to his feet, suit rumpled and glasses askew.
“Are we there yet?” Simon asked, dazed.
“Simon and I are doing human bonding, and we need a good dungeon,” Finn explained. “PB said you’ve got, like, a whole castle fulla traps n’ shit. I’m old enough to say that now, by the way. ‘Shit.’ Would it be chill if we go exploring in your house?”
“Oh sure!” Entrapta waved them on with her hair. “Just be careful. The security bots are still set to ‘purée.’ Ha ha ha!”
“Finn, is this really necessary? We’ve done this sort of thing before,” Simon moaned.
“And we’ll do it again!”
“Right, but I was just thinking…”
“Thinking about how awesome our adventure is gonna be? Way ahead of ya, buddy.” Finn started pulling a variety of dangerous weapons from his backpack. “I got all kinds of epic loot! What sorta build you want?”
A shadow appeared above them. Both humans turned to look up.
“Hello,” Hordak said, looming into the light. “It is tolerable to see you again.”
He cast a look at Simon, who was wobbling under the weight of Finn’s various swords. “I could not help but overhear your conversation just now.” His ear twitched. “I would like to make a suggestion for your enrichment activity.”
Finn shrugged. “Shoot, bro.”
“Treacherous and overstimulating as the castle labyrinth may be, you might also be interested in the mines of Dryl. Many ancient artifacts have been uncovered there.”
Simon perked up. “Ancient artifacts?”
“More than you could fathom. And more as yet undiscovered.”
Simon looked pleadingly at Finn, his eyes huge.
Finn nodded in manly sympathy. “A collection quest it is!” He pulled a pick and shovel from his arsenal and brandished them above his head as he charged out of the lab. “Excavation time!”
A moment later he reappeared in the doorway. “Um. Actually, I’m gonna need you guys to show me the way.”
While Entrapta giddily gathered her maps and revved an enormous drill, Simon looked back toward the towering alien. There was a deep sadness in his eyes.
“I have not forgotten what you told me,” Hordak said in answer to the unasked question. “I believe we share some… narrative similarities. I, too, have caused harm I now regret. And I have not always been in control of myself.”
Simon sighed. “You ever feel like everything’s changed, but you’re just a different version of who you used to be?”
“Frequently,” Hordak said. He snorted.
Simon hesitated. “How do you keep going?”
“Friendship and hobbies, mainly.” Hordak looked at Entrapta and the lab they shared. “It’s a good life, if you don’t weaken.”
Simon picked up another shovel. “Okay,” he said.
“Let’s get going, then.”
