So based on the scars on Lapras & the other Pokemon its with I'm assuming they've all been abused by humans at some point in their lives and have no trust for them whatsoever & Likos mission is going to be gaining its trust.
Brings me back to this tbh.

FF6's blizzard boar Magalod-orc has affinity with the ice-type Pokemon Piloswine, but they also seem to have a water dragon named Lopros that parallels Lapras... no one seems to have a solid etymology for either so I'm just gonna assume they're both cognates of "leprosy", the Greek of which just means "scales"

i do not know if lapras counts but if lapras counts as a fish please add a lapras. in my XY run i had a lapras named nessie and she is my beloved forever.
i don't think lapras counts as a fish but i'm probably going to allow some leeway by cheating (in ways that i will not explain but will become clear once you see the picture) so i will try my best to include lapras 👍

Some character notes and episode notes for HZ032, writing them down for future reference.
Diana asking Liko and Roy whether they think what Lapras is wrong or not for stealing food makes me think that this kind of questioning will come up down the road. It's good that they didn't just brush off Laplace's acts as just evil for the sake of it and actually tried to understand where the Pokemon are coming from and why they might be doing what they are doing. I was hoping they'd delve a little more on the Pokemon's pasts but I feel like there are some implications that they were hurt by humans? At least Whaleoh, given the scars it had (so that's probably why they avoid contact with humans). Either way, I like that they are trying to expand perspectives and questioning the Pokemon's actions that could appear as bad at first glance. It really feels like this conflict is all setting up for eventually questioning the Explorers' motivations and why they are doing what they are doing (just like how HZ028 was showing that Tepen could still turn his life around despite his shady deeds).
Landau sailing the ship was really cool! I like that they're allowing Nuoh to shine by using Surf too. Just because the characters aren't "battlers", it doesn't mean they aren't experienced at what they are doing or their area of expertise. It does make me curious about Landau's past tbh.
Friede and Diana are both on the same wavelength on many aspects, they reacted in similar ways to Lapras being gutsy and attacking the ship. They were a bit worried but impressed w Friede still has room to be surprised by Pokemon.
Liko guessed where Lapras's secret base was since she noticed the empty food boxes near it. Love how observant she is! She also apologized to Lapras for intruding in the base... polite, even to Pokemon (just like how Friede asked them not to board the ship unless they have permission to do so).
Terapagos seems to befriend Pokemon quickly in general and Lucius's Pokemon feel some kind of loyalty towards it, given how Oliva and Galar Fire decided to follow it to fulfill the promise.
Lucius's flashback was quite ominous, and he is talking about Rakua like it refers to a person. There is the sense that something really bad happened to him and he probably died after promising that he wouldn't... His Pokemon all seem to miss him (and cry thinking about him), so it feels like they remember what happened too. Either way, I like that so far, all the confrontations with the Six Heroes involved communication as a strategy to reach out to them and appealing to their emotions instead of simply battling. Lapras's friends also encouraged it to follow the group (which good, because I wanted their reactions to be taken into account).
Liko got to talk with Diana while everyone was sharing food. What I found interesting is that Diana offered her perspective of what a "Pokemon trainer" means for her, and I think that's the first time in Horizons we get a definition for it? I liked that her view of it is "someone who bridges the divide between Pokemon and people"... I feel it's a nuanced approach and covers all sorts of possibilities (instead of just "trainer means battling"), and I look forward to them.
Rayquaza showed up at the end. It's probably there to guide them towards the others heroes they need to find, it's unlikely that this is a coincidence.

((Okay so I mayyyyyy have felt the need to re-think and polish up a batch of the background information on Mu; make it more personal to Solo/Burai.
Also, at the end of the day, I decided to swap over to typing the pages with the English names. It’s just easier for me to default to. Laplace vs Rapurasu, ect. [Yes that is also Lapras’ name in Japanese. Which is why I always had one on an old Pixelmon server yrs ago… but digressing… The blog info is roughly where I want it. Mostly format and link issues remain to be tackled. Another objective is to formulate a schedule that’ll outline days I’m here most. In the background, I also whipped up another icon collection, and made a full figure gif out of the Laplace I drew earlier. Will post those when I’m more awake. I hope to be more active/interactive very soon.))
((Side note: my dash and notifications have been weird/finicky or something lately, so while I’m trying to see stuff on my dash I seem to still miss things, and have to look up someone’s name to see all their posts right away. Dunno, maybe it’s just if there’re a lot of posts or reblogs or someth. The limit on scrolling back through old posts may annoy me a littlllle bit… But in any case, feel free to wander around the new wip pages, lol.))

Also clown fam as other mons
Laplace is either Haunter or Lapras (the Japanese is the same for Laplace and Lapras so sksvskdh but it's also not one of my fave mons and Haunter fits better imo so-)
Tear as Mareep and Footman as Flaafy. Siblings- wmsbsmsjjs and Laplace is a sibling but he's also special (canon lore wise I mean) so! Yes.
Well. Now I'm going to do this XD
Also my main's icon has been Ampharos forever what if. I made it. Clayman cosplaying an Ampharos- kigurumi perhaps-
Claymanifies my life

Riding on Laplace♪
You know what, I expected to hate this since it would be another nostalgia mon cameo, but it was actually quite enjoyable. Could have happened without Lapras but it's addition didn't make me hate it so it's fine.
Pikachu threatening TRio into helping was the best, makes me sad about how little interactions we've had with TRio during journey's duration, I feel like for Ash's finale they really should've hanged together more. Alola trully felt like the closest thing we got to closure when talking about their relationship.
Daijoubu count: +2
Juppeta's Search!
Another solid episode! A typical pokemon episode focused on a random Character of the Day and their pokemon. Not exactly what we needed for those final 11 episodes, but you know what? I take those instead of shit like episode 5 and 6. At least it was cute and sweet.
Though a shame TRio didn't appear here at all. But I guess next ep will make up for it.
Also is fun to see Croagunk upgraded into a walking mon for Brock. He deserves it.
Daijobu count: +1 (but is said by Brock)
Ending in 8 Daijobus so far!
Watching Pokemon mezamas for the first time because I can't binge DP rn orz
If you wanna see me ranting and reacting, I'll leave things under the readmore >w<)b
Starting with ep 1 and 2! Cause I dont have as much free time as I wish I had so I'm doing 2 episodes per day till friday.
Winds of Beginning! The Endless Road!!
It's just me or the music at the beggining was Alola music? If yes.. That's just the cutest. Alola music as Ash's music QAQ
The best part of the episode was the 5 minutes we spent with Ash and Pikachu before the stupid Latias appeared. Add that one to the pokemon I now hate because of the anime..
Man, I'm still bitter those 10 episodes weren't focused on Ash and his Pokemon only. It would've been the absolute best way to use those 10 episodes (and still reach the same conclusion Mezamas as it is reached), why couldn't Ash ever be alone with his mons? He can be enjoyable if the writers tried. Sigh
At least Buizel is here ♥ Also it was adorable to see Noivern and Sceptile in security duty while everyone else slept! Babies! However I'm sad Buizel and Donphan didn't go to cuddle with AshPika and Latias ù3ú
What was the point of all the drama about "Ash's pokemon not being able to attack TR because it could hurt him" when... Pikachu just went and... did just that? (also, Noivern going there and breaking the glass would've hurt Ash less??????) I get they needed "Ash suicidal tendencies make him likeable" moment but gosh, it could've been done better, for sure.
And you know, mandatory Dawn mention, but it's kinda poetic that both Ash and Dawn got done dirty in their final moments because of some stupid legendaries. They're trully one and the same. Even in shitty writing decisions from anipoke staff LMAO
Satoshi VS Kasumi! Seaside One-on-One!!
I know that Misty's metaphor about how her and Clauncher are meant to be is an obvious Pokeshipping hint, of course it is! I know that! but...
Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist but the fact Pikachu ignored Psyduck for Misty, and Clauncher didn't seem at all to reciprocate Misty's feelings is... interesting... Added to that how Ash just replaced her lure with Cilan's is.. Almost like adding to her own metaphor, that while Misty still has feelings for Ash and believes that they're meant to be, because of fate, because she is the "OG twerpette" like TR called her, Ash himself is like.. Pikachu to Psyduck and Clauncher to her. Neutral at most, and with someone else having their favoritism.
And y´know, it's even more interesting that at the beggining of Sinnoh Ash still had her lure (and was protective of it) and immediately after Sinnoh he changed her lure for Cilan's. I sure wonder what happened between those events for him- It's Dawn! its Dawn that happened!
Dont judge me I can make anything be about pearlshipping if I try hard enough.
Shipping aside, I adore seeing episodes with the general same plot but with different characters. Compare this to the Buneary catch and it's really interesting to see just how different Ash acts with Misty and Dawn about the same thing. Him and Misty have a battle about who is gonna get it, which does makes sense, they will resolve all their arguments with battles instead of actual talking and I adore that trait of their relationship~
And even Misty's disappointment at the end, that Clauncher still likes hanging with Corphish is very different than Dawn bringing up her closeness with Ash to win Buneary over. I love those sort of similar episodes, it's great to understand how each character thinks.
Gosh, even comparing to Totodile's catch shows how Misty and Ash themselves have become closer and more understanding of eachother! In here they make rules about how to catch Clauncher instead of fighting the whole time, it's a nice showcase of how they've grown! I'm just sad that Totodile was in this episode and no one mentioned the similarities :T
Also I will never get tired of Pikachu's "Pikachupi"! Ikue Otani does it in the cutest voice and I just want to squeeze the rat's cheeks every time he says it!!!
Speaking of Pikachu, I love that at the very least in those 10 episodes he went back to having some hint of a personality since he hadn't shown much of it for... a long time before it (and remembered the names of the people he cares for. I was so angry at the lack of "Pikapi" in Alola).
Same goes for TR, is nice to see their motto being animated instead of some re-used footage. One of the things that made their apparitions enjoyable in OG-DP was that they always added some personality to it. That was fun to see again.
---
And that's it for today.
