Kim exhaled sharply, his frustration boiling over. “Do you hear yourself right now? You’re killing yourself, Oscar! Do you understand that? Is that how you think you’re helping him—by running yourself into the ground until you can’t stand anymore?”

“Kim, stop,” Jon interjected gently, his voice filled with warning. He was watching the interaction with growing concern, his eyes darting between the two men.

But Kim ignored him. If the softer approach wasn’t working, he would have to try something else, even if it hurt. He leaned forward, his voice sharp and unyielding. “Do you want me to have to call your parents, Oscar? Do you want me to tell them that you’ve burned yourself out, that you’ve collapsed because you refuse to take care of yourself? Is that what you want?”

Oscar flinched, his jaw tightening as Kim’s words hit him like a physical blow.

Don’t do what I just did which is watch the podium celebrations in Japan 2023 where Lando walks straight to Oscar to drench him in champagne and then watch the podium celebrations in Hungary 2024 where Lando walks straight past Oscar to ignore him completely. It will break your heart

Angst prompts - 18, Landoscar?

making these angsty is actually so hard but i am trying my BEST from this angst prompt list

"You look like hell." "I feel like it."

Oscar blinks his eyes open as hears the door to his room close. Squinting against the light he sees Lando shuffle towards the bed, hesitant. Oscar lifts his head a fraction.

“Hey Lando,” it comes out scratchy, more of a croak than anything. Lando doesn’t reply, just stands at the end of the bed, eyes flicking over Oscar. The whirring and beeps of the hospital equipment fill the silence. Oscar feels the muscles in his neck start to strain but he doesn’t look away from Lando. 

“You look like hell,” Lando says eventually. He winces as he registers what he’s said. 

“I feel like it,” Oscar replies, attempting to pull his mouth into a smile. Lando relaxes slightly and Oscar lets his head slump back onto the pillow. “Come sit.” Oscar tilts his head at the chair next to his bed. After a beat, Lando shuffles around the side of the bed and slumps into the chair. They sit in silence again. Oscar has no idea what’s going through Lando’s mind, so he waits for him to speak first. He can see Lando fidgeting out the corner of his eye. 

“Osc-” Lando’s voice breaks. He clears his throat. “I swear I didn’t see you.” 

Oscar knew this was coming. He gathers his strength and pushes himself up slightly in order to turn to face Lando. His chest hurts but he tries not to let it show on his face. 

“Hey.” He waits till Lando looks up at him. “I’m sure you didn’t.” 

Lando nods jerkily. He continues wringing his hands. 

“I’m really sorry, Osc.” 

Oscar gingerly collapses back onto the bed. He lets his gaze drift up to the ceiling. Everything hurts.

“Yeah. Me too.”
