I normally don't work Tuesdays, but on Monday I chose to pick up the shift. As a hardcore reliably-positive person, I was teasing Manager Autumn by saying that "I'll be there, but I'm NOT bringing a good attitude with me."

Manager Landon thought this was great. "I'll start the Tuesday pre-sort meeting like 'OK let's do some stretches! :)' and you of all people will be like 'Kiss my ass!', and nobody will know how to react to that."

Since nobody at this job has heard me say anything like that (yet), I didn't want to do it in front of everybody. But when someone hands you a bit, you gotta commit to it.

So I came in Tuesday night and was lucky enough to find Manager Landon before the meeting, holding a bouquet of walkie-talkies and smiling at me. "Hi CJ! :) Have a radio."

I swiped the radio, looked him in the eyes, and said "Go fuck yourself."

Boots flattened the thin sheet of snow on the ground as they passed. Each step quicker than the last. Darcy was indifferent when it came to snow, the seasons holding both lovely and horrible memories for the young witch. The moon was high, full even. Darcy looked up to the great ball in the sky with a bittersweet smile. She remembered how she and the man she loved would look up at it, admiring it for all it did for them. Werewolves and witches had such connections to it, and Darcy once thought that it was she who brought them together. But Darcy was stupid enough to throw it all away.

She cringed at the memory of that night. The look on his face, her immediate silence and then the silence that corrupted her house when he left. It was all there, it never left her. As the light snow fell, Darcy made her way through countless coated rocks.

Something stopped her though.

It was not a person, but rather...a feeling. A feeling that something was wrong. As the witch stood still under the streetlight, her eyes wandered to a denser part of the woods. It was werewolf territory, but something just told her to move further in. She stepped over the invisible line, her legs carried her down a path she didn't recognize.

A trail emerged the further she went in. Blood. A lot of blood. Darcy followed it more and more, until she came upon a hill. The blood continued down the hill, the white snowy background providing excellent contrast. Then her eyes fell on him. There, perched up against a tree with blood canvasing his surroundings. "Landon..." Darcy whispered, already making her way down the hill. Her hood fell off her head, blonde hair now flowing in the wind. On her way down she slid and tripped, stockings now covered in snow. But she didn't care. She had to get to him.

"Landon!" The witch called out, voice slightly echoing through the empty woods. "Landon! Talk to me! Can you hear me!?" // @wynterlanding

I wonder if I shouldn't add my RDR OC here. Never brought her to tumblr before, and she needs a little redevelopment beforehand to account for lore I was unaware of way back when, but having another crazy uncouth bounty hunter/gunslinger running around could be fun.

Thinking about the entire existence, the whole point, of the Panda Promise was that Hope wouldn’t have to do it alone. Having lived through the trippy-tween-sci-fi-come-to-life world where Hope eventually became the Loner Tribrid, the unhinged Mikaelson killer, in order to defeat Malivore, Lizzie and Josie made her promise—Panda Promise!—that she wouldn’t be a lone wolf and that they’d be with her to face Malivore.

Yet what happened? After a very lovely dinner and tree-growing ceremony, Hope faced Malivore alone. Yes, Freya didn’t even stay the night. Yes, Hope was kidnapped. Yes, she sent Alaric home with Kaleb after she turned. Yes, Josie was trying to rescue Cleo and Landon. I don’t remember what Lizzie was doing, honestly. Yes, there were circumstances. And, yet, the very thing the Trio promised not to let happen, happened. Josie had sex with Finch instead of going to check on Hope, whether to see if she needed help in the fight (which I took to be ongoing after the rescue spell ended, but regardless) or if she needed help in the aftermath of the moment. Lizzie ended up spending the night on the couch in the foyer due to all the sex happening in her bedroom. Neither of them seemed to remember the Panda Promise, to think about Hope at any time. Was it any wonder, then, that Hope became a monster?

Given that it seems the switch flipped subconsciously as Hope killed Landon, I’m not sure anything could have been done if they had gone to check on her after. But maybe. Maybe they could have pulled her back.

If they had been there with her, though? I think it’s a whole other Tribrid. Because after being abandoned by her family and her friends, Landon was, in that moment, all Hope had left—and he, once again, didn’t want to fight for her—and she killed him. Imagine if Josie and Lizzie had been holding each arm. Hope wouldn’t have been alone. She would have had her “sisters,” her crush, the girls who loved her, who’d been through the ringer with her for the past few years, who’d Panda Promised to be at her side. Landon’s dead, and she crumbles, but she’s held up by the twins. She’d saved them—from the Prison World, from Dark Josie, from the Wiccan Wellness Cult—and now they would be saving her. Panda Promise.

Landon's foot on the edge of the coffee table, the relaxed countenance of his seated form on the couch, betrayed none of the annoyance that simmered in his gut as he watched his pretend girlfriend get ready for a date with another man. "You and him, I mean?" This was her fourth time seeing the other male, after all - it was a reasonable enough question, right?

“Banks?” Landon questioned, confusion settling into tired features as he looked twice to make sure he had the right person. Denver was proving to hold more people from his past than he’d expected upon moving here, and he wasn’t sure how to feel about it. While it was nice to see familiar faces, far too many reminded him of the exact life he was trying to leave behind. “Fuck, how’ve you been, man? It’s been a long time.”
