3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

This Could All Be Yours! Because this beast was an ORDEAL to make. I actually pushed through and produced something that I can legit enjoy now that I've stepped away from it. So much shit happened while I was actively writing the stripper!AU. I wrote it through an insane work rush where I'd do 10 days in a row no breaks spent between my two jobs because of the stupid holiday season, have a day off to recover, then get shoved back in it again. I wrote it through a covid outbreak in my residents at job 1 from which we were not properly protected. I wrote it under the threat and stress of maybe catching covid again, maybe giving covid to my partner, maybe ruining the holidays for everybody cause both our families have immunocompromised members so we had to isolate preventively besides going to work. I wrote it through a good ol' bout of the Spicy Sad. I somehow managed to write Rain to a satisfying standard where I love how I wrote him now but while I was doing it? Holy shit did this cryptid stump me and made want to pull my hair out xD Every scene with him did not flow while I wrote, it was slow and painful and like pulling teeth. Many people have had me in their DMs complaining about why is our water boy so fucking hard to write XD And in the end it worked out so good and I love himmmmm but my god, I had another Rain fic planned right after this and NOPE XD I need a Rain break, I can't put myself through that again so soon hahaha. I can write him well but he's the ghoul I struggle with the most. So yeah. Through all that shit, I wrote almost 20k of what I find to be a very well build verse I'm excited to go back inside of, and I'm proud I managed to get it out in these circumstances!

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

Besides the obvious answer of polyghouls because I ship them all as a poly unit, my favorite dynamic is Swiss/Dew. These two together are magic. They're a fucking forest fire. They are so much fun to write, they're natural, they flow so well, they're painless, and I can push shit with them. Swiss is my go-to sadist, Dew is my go-to masochist (even if I 100% plan to make them switch, because all my ghouls are switches, and Dew has a mean sadistic streak too). I'm a fervent follower of the Hurt Dew 2k22 agenda and I shall pursue some version of Hurt Dew 2k23 too, honestly. It's just, right on target for what I love to write the most, these two. The banter, the back and forth, the meanness, the issues, the humiliation and shame sweet spot, the pain and shared delight, that manic electric energy they get into, on a backdrop of so much love and care and trust. They're the pair I realistically see pushing their kink the furthest in terms of edge play and real heavy shit that teeters lines and limits and I love that vibe. I cannot wait to write more of their brand of tender violence. I want to see see how much I can push with these two in the future, how far I'll take them in terms of the more niche or "extreme" kinks and edge play. That's the kind of exploration that really gets my experimentalist kinkster mind going!

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

Drought or Euphoria probably. It's the most self-indulgent work I wrote for sure, in terms of saying fuck it, this will not be for everybody, but it's what gets me off, and I will write something I'd get off to if I found it in the wild. Turns out, more people than I had expected have suddenly found themselves with an sudden new interest for leather boots hahaha. Yall are welcome for the sexual awakening btw ;) But yeah. Most of the key elements in this fic are self indulgent. It's me pressing my own buttons. The gratuitous descriptions of Swiss and his salt and pepper facial hair that makes me weak in the knees. The whole "consensually twisting someone's arm and tricking them to make them do what you want" dynamic Swiss enacts on Dew. The descriptions of the smell and taste of leather, that's for me to have the scent in my nose and the taste in my mouth while I write. The boot worship. The obedience. The devotion. The humiliation. The shameless projection of my own oral fixation and enthusiasm for blow jobs on Dew, which is now something I've kept on his character for good and will write more of. The monstrous tongue which is me displaying my inner monster fucker. The denial ending. This shit is like, my own kryptonite. I will happily write for kinks that aren't my favs or aren't even kinks I have, for requests or exploration's sake. But oooh boy, when I get to just make an entire fic to be a collection of *my* shit, it's pure fun and it goes to the top of the favorite list real fast hahaha.

Decorating by room, varying themes throughout and right now the director’s very much on with his holiday mood. Something different about this time of year grabbed him. Just as she had the moment they first met. Good times despite anything else. He shifted a step back, glancing over his shoulder towards the blonde. “You know it’s a thing of mine. Being into holidays. Halloween might be a fave but I appreciate the beauty of Christmas. When I have someone to share it with that’s ten times better.”

Landon set aside a small box of decor. Tiny things to set up and a few he knows his mother would recognize from over the years. One thing about this is he gets to spend it with someone he loves. Very much. “Allie, do you want to do the honors?” Posing the question with a sprig of mistletoe in his hand, he watched her expression. She looked stunning. As cabin getaways go it truly is a marvel and a half. He turned his head to Violet as she made the comment. Always forever lost in the moment whenever they’re together. Daily occurrences become little mementos. He stores them all in his heart. This is one of those memories he’ll look back on and smile. Something to get him through a bad day; his hand shifted over atop hers, sliding fingers between hers as they sat together on the cabin porch.

“Yeah, it’s totally devoid of big city vibes. I like that too.” Coming from a city boy that says a lot but Landon often finds himself craving a little quiet. It can be hectic. Their life is filled with movement so it’s always important to sit back. “As chilly as it is out here definitely enjoying the atmosphere.” Landon leaned in close, brushing his shoulder against hers as his lips connected with Violet’s cheek. Something to warm her in the winter air, pulling back to show a smile; he hummed thoughtfully. “Mm, you know this calls for extra logs on the fire inside.”

Holidays are hit or miss in his life. Usually he does have an appearance from his mother. While she was away on her current book tour, he had to settle for a video call. Florence Anton Wynter is a great novelist who should enjoy the success. She voiced how she much she missed him, apologizing even but he told her he’d be occupied. The entire day he made sure everything was settled. Cooking on his own is easy when he’s so involved in it. That’s something the director could say he’s more proud of than some of his films. The capacity to tackle Thanksgiving on a time crunch; Landon stepped from his kitchen as his oven took care of its main task. Everything else he already set aside but there’s just one final piece to the puzzle. Which he thought on for a time as he was up to his elbows in homemade traditional side dishes; he chose to send a message to Sabrina finally. Hey, if you’re alone tonight I wondered if you’d have dinner with me for Thanksgiving. I did all the cooking. Leaving it as a formal invite truly showed he was deeper into their make believe charade than he first realized. Make believe doesn’t cut it. They’re more than a charade. They’re realer than he’s had with anyone.

Twenty plus years since she’s even celebrated Christmas sounds unreal to Landon. He knows she’s young. That tells him it’s basically been her whole life. Who would allow their daughter to miss out on something from such a young age? A question ready to drop but he held it back at the pressure of her palm to his chest. She spoke of it as if something long lost. Something that only seemed okay if he was involved; he placed a hand against hers to emphasize he understands her meaning. “If there’s any gift I could have this year it’s sharing this with you. Allie, you deserve this. I’m sorry you never had it when you should have. Whoever made that choice for you.. they don't matter now.”

Besides he already had things planned. For them. For her. If he can bring some sort of brightness back to a typical thing most children should have experienced, most people should hold close, Landon considers it a win. He’d do anything for her. He only hopes she knows this now. “Maybe we can start with a few more songs. Let you hear some of my favorites. And well if it’s really okay with you then you’re about to find out what a holiday monster I am. Hope you can handle that.” With a little shrug and smile, Landon teased to set a better mood. A happier one as he made it clear about his personal spirit right now. “Why do you think I’m so happy this time around? If there is any gift that keeps on giving this year it has to be Alice’s lips. Cool blonde daydreams, cherry lipstick smeared upon his mouth and an approving hum to go along with it. She’s definitely making it harder for him to focus. “Asking still keeps you on your toes,” the man grinned; easing his hands down against her waist as she fiddled with the sprig of mistletoe. While there’s a lingering question on his mind he didn’t want to force her to say anything she didn’t want. Goes hand in hand with them doesn’t it? They’re both still guarded about certain things. Honestly he’d tell his entire memoir of life if she asked. Trust makes life easier for him. “Only if you want to.”

Landon knew there’s an unspoken story. Any consolation in having her spill secrets is what he confided. Revealing his past with Emeline had been tough. He still got through it because Alice never looked at him as a bad person. She never believed he did those things. She believed HIM in every sense of what happened. So of course he’s going to listen to her now. “Hey, you know I’d always lend an ear. Let you tell me whatever you need to.” What’s important is she’s comfortable. In speaking her mind or any tradition he’s attempting this year. The last thing he’d want is for a holiday to trigger bad memories. Whatever they may be; Landon understands how it can be to deal with. “Does it bother you that I’m celebrating?” His tone is soft, devoid of accusation and only filled with genuine curiosity. @xwildheart // prev
