What are your thoughts on the Rover Sterling cars that were sold in the US?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sterling Cars, 1987-1991. The Rover 800 series was an executive-class car that had been co-developed with Honda, the Japanese version becoming the first generation Honda/Acura Legend. Because Rover's earlier entry to the US, with the SD1 had been a disaster that had damaged the reputation of the Rover brand in the US it was decided to market the 800 in the US using a new brand, Sterling (the Rover Sterling was the flagship 800 model for European markets). US versions of the 800 used Honda's V6 in 2.5 and, from 1988, 2.7 litre form. Sterling sales in the US were initially quite strong however early cars developed build quality and reliability problems. There were also corrosion issues and Sterling fell to the bottom of J.D. Power surveys while its sibling, the Acura Legend, topped them (in 1988). Sales dropped off quickly from a peak of 14,000 cars in 1987. The Rover Group persevered with the Sterling project for several more years and though the quality issues were addressed the reputational damage was done and finally Sterling Cars withdrew from the US market in 1991. The Rover 800 Coupé was developed as part of the second generation 800 range specifically for the US market though it was never sold there.

Can we please invoke the 25th Amendment and get this senile dementia-addled puppet out of the White House? Kamala is too stupid to sign these things. She would ask word salad questions for long enough that the Trump Administration would begin.
Have you seen his recent dementia-rage filled news conferences? This guy isn't all there. Why is he signing laws and regulations? He wouldn't even be allowed to sign legal documents at the DMV unassisted.

Mike Johnson was elected House Speaker by the absolute smallest number of necessary votes (218) and with a host of asterisks.
Ultimately, about 9 GOP dissidents were convinced to vote for Johnson by telling them that to hold up Johnson's election as Speaker would disrupt or delay the certification of Electoral Votes on Monday. Presumably after Monday, it's back to business as abnormal for House Republicans.
Trump may have been able to get the GOP House dissidents to fall in line on Friday because of an urgent deadline. But because he immediately becomes a lame duck when he's sworn in on the 20th, his influence will slowly diminish over the course of the 119th Congress.
In the vid above, Chris Hayes reminded us what happened when the previous Republican president, George W. Bush, began his lame duck term.

🦆 Legislative Term Limits make the government LESS accountable! 🦆
🦆
With term limits, over half the legislators will be lame ducks 🦆: they will no longer be, in any way, answerable to their constituents, and will be free to pursue big payoffs from lobbyists by doing the bidding of those lobbyists while still in Congress.
🦆 Legislative term limits are a horrible idea! 🦆
The answer you seek is in vacating the 17th Amendment. Give back representation to the State Governments through the Senate. The U.S. Constitution intended that States, defending their own power and interests through the Senate, would be the check against the growth of the federal government. This worked for over 100 years until we took the Senate away from State governments in 1913 through the fraudulent ratification of the 17th Amendment. Since then the size and power of the federal government has grown exponentially.
Vacate the 17th Amendment
Tumblr media
U.S. Constitution: Article 1: Section 3
1. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two senators from each State, chosen by the legislature thereof, for six years; and each senator shall have one vote.
The Seventeenth Amendment overturned the provision that senators be selected by the state legislature, and replaced it with the direct election of Senators by the citizens. The reasons the Founders set the Senate term for six years, was because they wanted the Senate to be a more deliberative body, not influenced as much by the immediate will of the people. (The Senate was to represent the will of the state legislature that appointed them, not the popular will — that was the role of the House of Representatives).
Amendment XVII
1. The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.
2. When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.
3. This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.
The Seventeenth Amendment, like the 16th Amendment before it, was all about consolidating power for the Progressives, and it was never properly ratified.

P.S. Um, no, your Allies are not sad because many of your Allies knew that America is a lame duck for quite a long time and they are working on a defense plan "B" where America is no longer needed...!!!
Whether America's existence as a leader of the Western world has a political future will largely depend on whether Ukraine will protect its affiliation with the Western world, or whether the American political elite will once again surrender the security interests of Eastern Europeans in favor of quarter profits in dealings with the Kremlin...!?
Sell Ukraine to Moscow and you will end up like the previous useful fools who signed a "peace treaty" at the expense of Czechoslovakia's security in Munich on September 30, 1938...!

ngl it's still pretty funny that kamala harris' voting record during her time as a senator ranks as far to the left as bernie sanders. and left-leaning people online Love bernie sanders. but bc she now has to court as many votes as possible as the official nominee for a Big tent party, she gets slapped with the "centrist" label. as if a timeline where bernie sanders becoming the official democratic party nominee wouldn't've seen him campaign further to the center just so he could win enough votes for the presidency lmao. there's no world where he would've won without doing that, being further to the left than the avg american, but if that's all it takes to be considered a "centrist" then idk! what do i know!
