Sydney Adamu Theories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am on a Sydney kick. So many possibilities come with cracking Sydney open and exploring SYdney's background. I am confident that the writers will explore this because the show is masterful at answering our questions in the midst of all the chaos. Even on Reddit, there are questions about Sydney.
Since Storer used tattoos to tell the story of the character, as we learned about Carmy, his tattoos started to make sense because we explored his history. The question for Sydney's tattoo sits with us as viewers; it's an ample opportunity to see Sydney and why she wants to get a star, succeed, and how she landed at the beef ready to work with Carmy and reach that dream. What inspired her to stage with Carmy, and what did she mean when she told her father she was at a different place in her life?
Theory one: Sydney, unlike Carmy, experienced failure in her career; some will see she is a quitter, and others will see Sydney put her mental health first. Maybe before Sheridan Road Catering, Sydney had a breakdown dealing with pressure and abuse like Carmy experienced at Eleventh Madison Park
I wonder if, like Carmy, we'll see the cost of committing to your craft to the point where you miss out on life. I'm leaning towards Sydney experiencing a nervous breakdown in the past. Her father is adamant about Sydney not committing to the thing that caused her heartbreak. Maybe Sydney has gone through many ups & downs in addition to Sheridan Road Catering.
The past must be so sorrowful for someone to imprint a symbol representing heartbreak over her shoulder. Maybe putting her all into things is part of Sydney's nature, and her father witnessed such a mental health scare that he's worried when she says she doesn't have another one in her...
But when she shows her dad the potential of the bear on opening night, her dad validates her: this is the thing. Now that her dad sees her as a leader, someone who's stable and knows what they are doing, she's pressured to work at a place that could be the like other places, and this time, she's trapped.
When her dad asks her if she trusts Carmy, this could be in relation to someone in her past experience as a chef, someone who was supposed to be her mentor and someone she could trust who broke her heart. They weren't necessarily partners (whoever this past person was), but it was a power dynamic. A dynamic that's absent in Sydney's and Carmy's relationship. Here are other reasons she probably had a mentor in the past that used her-
When Carmy tells her he's her boss, she considers what to say next. Carmy pulling this power play made her speak up and tell him her needs. Most importantly, she can stand out at The Beef.
Her father gives her a book on leadership. Perhaps this person (a mentor) stole her ideas, kept her from having a voice, and drained her mentally.
To keep it short, Sydney put so much pressure on herself that she ended up having a nervous breakdown and maybe she didn't have a partner but someone who used her, perhaps a boss or mentor who exploited the power dynamic between them.
There's another question that remains: What's with the name of the Catering business she started?
I'm also confident this will be answered because it's written in the original script.
Siderbar/theory: what's up with Carmy asking Sydney about her favorite road? The only road in relation to Carmy that I can think of is Jimmy mentioning the car accident dream. He said they were driving around Lake Genova or something like that. Well, maybe it was Lake Michigan, meaning they were driving along Sheridan Road- maybe the dream was a foreshadow?
Ugh this is all over the place, but I got questions, and I don't know how I'm going to wait for 6 more months.

Twelve years old not far from home in winter woods, slamming ice with my heels to make the water gathered beneath the ice to flow.
Then the shoe-wet distance home. Warm, welcome dinner. O Mother, Father, O Where do the waters of Babylon flow?

Grace Needs Space by Benjamin A. Wilgus and Rii Abrego (illustrations). RH Graphic, 2023. 9780593182390. http://www.powells.com/book/-9780593182390?partnerid=34778&p_bt
Grace lives on Genova Station with her mom, Evelyn, an engineer who seems to get how to keep Grace involved and interested in making their house a home. Grace is excited because she's soon going to Titan with her Ba, Kendra, on a two-week trip in her cargo ship Sadie Goat. But her Ba is late. And when the trip is finally underway her Ba doesn't want her touching anything on the ship (she's particular, and it's all delicate). On Titan when Grace wants to see the sights (trees, plants, the largest lake in the solar system that's not on Earth) her Ba has no time because she's dealing with work. Grace meets some local kids and stows away on their field trip to Kraken Mare, where she touches the surface of Titan, but the trip nearly ends in disaster and then she's grounded. (There's more drama between the two and when the Sadie Goat is on its way back to Genova.)
I've never seen a graphic novel, much less a science fiction graphic novel, show how hard it can be for a kid to make sense of the way things work when they're with each of their separated parents. This reminds me of when I was a kid and went to my dad's place every other weekend, both the good and the bad of it. (I wish hanging out with him had involved a spacecraft.)

Lots of things I'd been looking forward to reading came out in May so it was a decent reading month. I got back on my KU bullshit early in the month thanks to a three months free offer and promptly struggled/vague blogged my way through The Home Smirker Wrecker. This was one I was looking forward to for the messy polyamory and it was not a good time due to writing/editing issues.
Highlights of the month were Love, Lies, and Cherry Pie, the Starlight's Shadow series, Happy Medium, and Ruling Sikthand. In order to finish Beneath the Trees, I had to go support my local comic shop by buying numbers 4 and 6 because Hoopla finally updated but only with #5. The Home Wrecker was KU and everything else was from either Hoopla or Libby.

which city would you recommend visiting in northern italy in january? (there’s nothing i don’t like, besides skiing)
You can visit basically anywhere. Every city, even the smallest one, has something cool to see, something historic. Gonna mention a few I know better. but ofc it's more about what do you like and what you want to experience (the moment you know that I can be more accurate with my suggestion).
You can visit Turin, even more if you're insterested in something "esoteric" (there's the dark side of that city -with all the monuments and stuff- which is interesting, either if you believe or not in those things), not to mention it's close to the Alps if you want to take a trip there to just see the landscape or visit some castles.
In fact, if you go to Aosta and the Aosta Valley, you'll have loads. You don't have to ski at all, you can enjoy the villages, the castles, the history of the city -Aosta- (at the end of january 29th-31st there's also a very famous street market in which you can buy wood stuff and typical food and much more), maybe visit some vineyard or cheese/ham producers (many offer guided visits+free tasting), or just go up on the mountains and walk on the snow to a close cabin to enjoy the view and some warm chocolate...
In Piedmont there are also the Langhe, which are hills basically but there are even more vineyards and things to eat (the food tourism there is really strong + there are nice villages and castles as well)
Another city is Novara: it's between Turin and Milan (by train is like 1 hour from Turin and 40 mins from Milan). It's surrounded by rice fields (many typical foods are made with it), it's close to the mountains (same thing I mentioned), it's close to hills (same as Langhe), it's close to the 7 lakes (between Piedmont and Lombardy) and a couple of them are pretty famous: Lago Maggiore (the biggest, so many interesting things to see like the San Carlo Borromeo statue -copied by the Liberty statue of NY-, the Castlli di Cannero -close to Switzwerland too- which are ruins in the middle of the lake but once were the customs, but there are also 3 famous Isole Borromee too which are so beautiful and the Isola Bella for example has a beautiful park+villa) and the little Lago d'Orta with the even more little precious Isola di San Giulio and the monastery (but also an amazing history). I love the vibe there. But back to Novara, it has lot of history too, and a very interesting Cupola di San Gaudenzio which used to be the tallest brick Cupola buildt on a church (it doesn't touch the ground) of the whole Europe (made by Alessandro Antonelli: there's a special tour about him to see all his amazing works) and ofc you can go up on the Cupola too and see the landscape and Milan from there (if the weather allows ofc... fog is there very often). Oh, the patron Saint is celebrated with street markets on january 22nd (cool enough, Aosta is a couple of hours away, js). lol im not selling away this town i swear...or maybe i am but ik it well<3
And yes, Milan but... do I have to talk about Milan? The Duomo, the Castello Sforzesco, La Scala and so much more. Sondrio, which is up near the mountains but it's a cool city too. Bergamo, divided into uptown and downtown (meaning the first is up on the "hill"). Mantova with all the museums to visit like Palazzo Te. Padova, again with the University history and the Cappella degli Scrovegni (Giotto's job). Venezia, and I think I don't have to add anything, lol But also Genova and the Cinque Terre (we're in Liguria: you're near the sea too), and Emilia Romagna with cities like Bologna, Modena, Riccione (which probably is more alive in summer?Idk): history, food, landscape (from the mountains to the sea)... Trento is a cool city too, and despite it being in Trentino, you can visit the city and the area around, and enjoy the landscape without having to go skiing
The Northern area as a lot to offer, it only depends on what you want to do (visit cities and their history, stay more in nature -and which kind-, do both, just eating and relaxing in a spa...) :) so if you want to drop another ask with a request, I'll gladly suggest something more in tune with you!

Hello! Regarding the question about your favorite places in Italy, I've heard cool things about South Tyrol. Have you been there? Would you recommend it? Thanks and have a great day
Yes, definitely ! It’s called Alto Adige in Italian. I would recommend to visit the whole Trentino Alto Adige region. The north part is Südtirol and the south part, of this autonomous region, is Trentino.
I go there whenever I have some free time. Also the last photos I’ve posted (mountains/lake) were taken there (Trentino)
There are so many places to visit. Some that come in my mind are: Alpe di Siusi, Val Gardena, Plan de Corones where you can visit the modern and beautiful Messner Museum, Seceda, Tre cime di Lavaredo, Passo del Grostè, Val di Genova, Val di Fumo, Laghi di Cornisello, Lago Nero, Lago Vedretta, Lago di Tovel, Lago di Braies and soooo sooo many other places. You’re surrounded by the Dolomites so wherever you go you will find beautiful landscapes all around you.
Give it a search on Google, I’m sure you’re gonna fall in love, like I did 🥹
Have a great day!

Basic Information:
Name: Alberto Scorfano.
Age: 18.
Place of Birth: Lake Genova.
Current Home: Ana-Kainga, Kingdom of Dijeuni.
Occupation: Student / Night worker.
Skeleton Bio:
Alberto was orphaned at a young age, and when Maleficent found him he was living alone in an old abandoned windmill near the edge of town. Taking him in, she aided in his higher education but instructed that her assistance did in fact come at a price.
The price was that he would work for her. He became a night worker, which allowed him to experience more of the world around him, getting to know the people on a more personal level and meeting individuals that he perhaps never would have met before.
He is most often seen either at the university or within The Grinning Cat, but best not to bother him while he’s working… Mal doesn’t like that. He is extremely playful and upbeat, always eager to learn and experience new things.
Face Claim: The face is negotiable but should remain under 30.
This role is closed.

CHE DISDETTA! I RICCONI CHE HANNO VILLA SUL LAGO DI COMO SONO "OSTAGGIO" DEI TURISTI "CAFONI" – IL BOOM DI VIAGGIATORI “MORDI E FUGGI”, NELLA ZONA DEL LUNGOLAGO, HA MANDATO IN TILT I SISTEMI DI TRASPORTO DEI COMUNI: “SI STIMA CHE QUEST’ANNO TRASPORTERANNO TRA I 4 E I 5 MILIONI DI PERSONE: LA BASSA STAGIONE NON ESISTE PIÙ. TAXI-BOAT E AUTO NCC HANNO LICENZE FERME DA TRENT’ANNI. NON SI PUÒ PENSARE DI ACCOGLIERE I TURISTI IN QUESTE CONDIZIONI..." - E ALLORA ADEGUATEVI, SENZA ROMPE' ER CAZZO VISTO CHE IL TURISMO PORTA AFFARI A COMMERCIANTI, RISTORATORI, TASSISTI E ALTRI DISGRAZIATI POCO VIP E POCO CHIC... -

My prompt for THE OLD GUARD DARK!WEEK: SWAN LAKE AU
I must confess my love for classical ballets. This art is based on Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, from the 1895 edition, the version on which most stagings have been based, revised by the composer's brother, Modest Tchaikovsky.
Nicolò is a prince turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse and only at night, by the side of the enchanted lake, he return to human form; the curse can only be broken with a declaration of love.
Prince Yusuf, during a hunting trip with his friends, gets lost in the forest until he finds the lake where a flock of swans land; just as he is about to shoot an arrow one of the swans turns into Nicolò. After a first moment of coldness, the two fall in love, meeting each night in secret until they are discovered by the sorcerer.
Nicolò helps Yusuf escape but the next night, during a party at Yusuf's palace, the sorcerer shows up with the Black Swan (I don't know who it could be, a dark version of Mickey lol), identical to Nicolò. Yusuf is deceived and seduced by the Black Swan and proclaims his love for the fake Nicolò, condemning Nicolò to remain a swan forever.
There are several versions on the final (almost always tragic) my favorite remains the original: Yusuf, realizing with horror of the deception, reaches Nicolò (who had witnessed the scene) but in vain: at sunrise, Nicolò will become a swan forever. Nicolò, rather than losing his humanity and forgetting Yusuf, kills himself and Yusuf chooses to die, unable to remain without his beloved. This act destroys the sorcerer, breaks the spell over the other swans and in the finale the two lovers ascend into the Heavens together like swans, in an apotheosis.
... I was supposed to write a synopsis and instead I wrote the whole damn story.
Thanks to Top! Joe discord for organizing the event!
