Isn't she pretty? I LOVE her design! (Yes that is the ace flag. No it was not on purpose. Yes I've decided that this is canon and am currently rewriting the book around this perception.) Speaking of canonically chubby characters, did you know Turtle is as well? I don’t see him drawn with it much but iirc he’s described as a little plump

Yeah! I thought that it was only like a semi-popular headcanon until I looked into it just yesterday!

To my knowledge and from what I've been able to find, the only characters that are described to be overweight in the books are Ochre, Dazzling, Lagoon (the one from book 2), Turtle, and Treehopper. There could still be somebody I'm missing, and if I am please let me know!

The world's worst siblings

I have lore surrounding red highlights on SeaWings that I plan to divulge into at a later post. But basically, Albatross and Lagoon's grandmother was a deep-sea SeaWing and some of her traits were passed down to her children and descendants, this is also why I plan to give Anemone pink highlights, as that gene is still in the royal family but over generations has faded

I drew this piece just short of a year ago. Im still pretty proud of it. It's a redraw of an old drawing I did featuring a scene from Wings of Fire: Darkstalker. Specifically when Albatross kills Queen Lagoon- starting the seawing royal massacre.

the part i hate most about being an artist is choosing between stylisation or realism... good thing i don't have to choose! it may be worse for business, but i can switch between styles if i want. oh hey look, animation works better with more stylised art and i'm getting into animation??? i can just animate stylised characters if i want

"He killed so many dragons though??? He did the massacre?" Sheesh you're really hung up on that whole "killing three dozen people" part like he was just cranky and grumpy from the party and his bitch sister talking about replacing him after years of her using him for his magic alone. He was just tired and eepy and there was too much noise and people and he got overstimulated and upset :( He did nothing wrong he was just a bit silly

It's funny how Wings of Fire is kind of a reverse-tragedy.

If a SINGLE THING had gone differently, things would have sucked a lot more.

Alternate timelines:

Six-Claws doesn't save Blaze.

Glory doesn't miss.

Deathbringer doesn't succeed in his first mission.

Clearsight doesn't manage to get the bracelet on Darkstalker in time.

Luna walks in the wrong direction.

Lagoon doesn't try to extort Albatross.

Hailstorm isn't protective of his brother.

Oasis doesn't fall for it.

Scarlet doesn't keep Peril.

Smolder doesn't convince his sisters to let him keep Rose.

First art post of the year!! (I think? Close enough lol) Happy 2025 everyone :)

Anyways, I’m currently rereading Darkstalker again so I decided to draw lagoon and her sister!! I wish we got more info about Lagoon and Sapphire. I feel like people don’t talk about them enough

Also yeah Sapphire doesn’t look anything like a Sapphire but 1. I wanted her to look different from lagoon which meant not giving her dark blue scales a d 2. I just imagine her in my head as a very lightly colored dragon
