Coming to an AO3 near you this fall, Eclipse: A Ladyhawke Fusion! When charming thief Phillipe "the Mouse" Gaston is saved by a strangely angelic man with a black snake, he'll find himself swept up in a fairy tale as he slowly realizes everyone really is exactly who they say they are.

Of course! Thank you so much. Let's see, starting with From the Pieces of Your Shattered Memories. I just posted a snippet here. So let's go with the scene right after that one.

Summary: Bilbo is a paramedic who picks up an unconscious John Doe he feels responsible for. When the man wakes up he has no memories and they find out there are people actively out to kill him. Bilbo's life quickly becomes a spy movie. Not knowing what else to call the man, he refers to him as 'Oakenshield' due to the pin on his shirt.

“He’s not the king!” Bilbo denied.

She gave him an exasperated look. “It says it right there. There’s a picture and everything.”

Bilbo laughed. “You didn’t see him before in the hospital. It was like he stepped out of a spy novel. He’s a bloody body double or…something. Right?” He turned to Oakenshield.

The man’s lips were pressed into a grimace, his hands shaking around the phone. 

“That’s me.” He declared in a soft voice.

“No, it’s not.” Bilbo tried to argue.

“Yes, it is!” Oakenshield shot back, his eyes wide. “It’s triggering some memories. I’m as stunned as you, but that is me. I know it is.”

“And there’s no chance you posed in the photo for the king?” Bilbo asked breathlessly.

“I suppose it’s possible?” Oakenshield offered helplessly. “I mean, I don’t actually remember being king, but I can suddenly remember exactly when and where this picture was taken.” 

“Whether you are the king or a body double, that explains why someone was here to pick up your family.” Prim offered. “If someone wants you dead, there’s no reason they wouldn’t go after them next.”

Thorin gave her a hard stare and a nod. “She said she was my…sister?”

“Yes. And a Durin, but Durin is a common family line in Erebor from what I’m seeing.” Prim pointed out before looking at Bilbo slyly. “But also the royal family’s line.”

Bilbo was about to deny Oakenshield being king once more when a car pulled up behind them. Black SUV. Followed by another and another.

“Are we about to get arrested, Bilbo?” Prim asked worriedly.

“No, we’re about to get shot.” Oakenshield snapped crawling over the seat. “Move! MOVE!”

Prim slid over to the side, letting Oakenshield in the driver’s seat as he put the car in reverse and flew through the neighbor’s yard right before the first bullets hit. 

“Left, left! No right!” Prim shrieked as Oakenshield hopped the curb and split straight between two of the SUVs. 

“Do you get it now?!” Bilbo shouted, gripping the back of the seat with all his might. “THIS IS WHY HE CAN’T BE A KING!”

“Maybe kings in Erebor are secretly badasses! Did you ever think of that?!” Prim shouted back.

“IS THIS A PERTINENT CONVERSATION?!” Oakenshield roared back, drifting right on the next street right as bullets peppered their bumper.

And now Just Out of Reach. This is my Ladyhawke AU I'm SOOO EXCITED FOR!! I'm hoping for a chance to unveil it in 2025, but we'll see. In the meantime, please enjoy this snippet.

Summary: After marrying in Laketown, the dragon laid a curse upon the Arkenstone. During the day, Thorin turns into a raven, and at night, Bilbo turns into a fox. Separating the two lovers forever...or so they think.

Thorin hadn’t realized this had been Bilbo’s plan. To lead them back to Rivendell. He had thought perhaps the hobbit was making for the Shire with the intent of living out the remainder of their cursed lives in the comfort of his former home. He should have known better. Bilbo was never one to give up so easily, and now sitting in the opulent room staring down at the hastily scrawled note he could only groan in anticipation.

Talk to Elrond!

He reached over to scratch at the fox’s head as he jumped up beside him on the bed. 

“You know, I could just leave this to you in the morning. I could stay in this room for the rest of the night.”

The fox made a sort of laughing bark before running towards the terrace and escaping into the night. Thorin sighed, watching him go. He wasn’t quite sure how much the fox understood him. He knew he definitely had no memories when he was…in his other form. It was comforting though to talk to him. To have him near. To pretend even for a moment that he would actually be able to hear the voice of his hobbit once more. 

Thorin shook his head as he got to his feet. He didn’t deserve such a gift. 

He managed to find the elf easily enough. He seemed to be leaving the study with two younger elves and the little boy he saved from the goblins. He found himself curious about him, but far more focused on his own problems. Elrond agreed to speak with him, after dinner. 

So Thorin was once again led to the outdoor dining room. Winter encroaching in the east, but the Valley of Imladris remained in a perpetual fall. Cool, but not too much to be uncomfortable. Thorin sat stiffly at the family’s table, finding it less bearable without the distraction of his company. That and the fact that Estel couldn’t stop staring at him over his plate.

“Where’s the fox?” He asked around a mouthful of lettuce.

Thorin resisted the urge to wrinkle his nose as he played with the food in front of him. 

“Hunting.”

“Here in Imladris?” One of the elf twins asked.

Thorin nodded before something occurred to him. “He will be safe, won’t he? None of your people will hurt him?”

Elrond hesitated before nodding. “He should be fine, but I’ll have Lindir make an announcement to make sure.”

Thorin took a deep breath as he sank a couple of inches in his chair. The small rush he felt making his skin buzz as the mere thought of losing him to such carelessness stole his breath.

“This fox is…important to you then?” Elrond questioned with forced casualty.

Thorin didn’t look up but his grip around his fork tightened. “Yes.”

“How strange. I don’t remember seeing such a creature with you the last time you were here.” 

Thorin said nothing. He knew the elf was fishing, but he wouldn’t discuss the matter until they were in private. 

“Yep, Thorin was always with a fox just like Bilbo was always with a raven. You could tell Bilbo loved that raven very much. Where is he?” Estel questioned.

“Out.” Thorin answered.

Estel pouted. “You said something similar last time.”

“And it is as true now as it was then.” Thorin pressed, fighting a smirk.

“And how does Erebor fare?” Elrond asked. “I am surprised to find you so far from her stone after having just reclaimed it.” Thorin’s eyebrows furrowed as he glared at a point on his plate. He wondered the same. Every night, his thoughts drifted from Bilbo to his home. How did she fare? Did Fili rule with the confidence he displayed in everything else? Was Balin putting into motion all the plans they had shared those long nights on the road with the hope that their home would be theirs again? Did everyone else find jobs that befit a hero of Erebor, living off their share of the gold? Would he miss the return of his sister and the rest of their people as they laid eyes on its gilded halls once more? He wondered sometimes in his deepest thoughts when he was missing Erebor like he would miss a limb, if loving Bilbo was this outcome every time, would he do it again? His heart always replied vehemently, a thousand times yes.

i have been thinking about ladyhawke au lately actually. that one's been fully outlined for years and it's for one of my favorite movies ever. ladyhawke is one of those vastly underrated 80s movies that's almost forgotten yet is perfect for a fic premise. just that i think since i no longer write in lapslock anymore (whew) i feel like i need to go back, fix the lapslock and maybe edit it a little more. (this will... certainly inflate the wordcount)

having said that probably my favorite thing about it is that i was able to work in rodeo culture within it. i've read complaints for years that this fandom doesn't do much with rodeo stuff even though that stuff is out there. being able to do this au made me able to work it in and then make it a forefront in an unexpected way. dallas we know loves rodeo and racing in canon and ponyboy always talks about rodeo culture in some way in canon.

so of course it's so different to have it recontexualized like this and have them pursuing the golden eyed cowboy. the golden eyed cowboy has been such a mysterious unexplained figure in s e's works that it felt natural to elevate him to a supernatural element here in an already fantastical environment.

i also just love having two bit's pov. he's the mouse in this — the third person observing the two anguished lovers who both feel something for him at the same time too even if it's not the same — who knows something is up and is so loyal to them. he's so lonely here and his heart is going to ache eventually with how much he realizes they care about each other.

probably my favorite sequence was two bit watching dallas ride "the kid" and see that dallas was never bullshitting about his abilities. two bit is so into it and it was so much fun to write him reacting to dallas and the kid. it was a true moment of euphoria and ngl i think this might get my ass in gear for that edit and finisher. 🩷🩷

Hello Steph! First of all how are you? I haven't been on tumblr in literally months (life got very busy) so hope you are doing ok. Secondly, I've started reading fic again and am trying to find a fic that I've read before but just can't seem to find it anywhere. The fic is based off the movie Ladyhawke. Can't really give any more descriptors as thats basically the plot of said fic, but am hoping you can help me find it. Hope you're keeping well and thank you for all you do for the fandom ❤️

This is another zine piece, for the Final Fantasy VII Fantasy AU zine except the zine got canceled due to the mod’s life exploding a little bit. Ah well, it happens sometimes.

But!!! one of my pitches was my shameless Ladyhawke crossover AU (which is strifesodos of course, I’m determined that way), and the head mod specifically wanted me to draw my pitch because they’d seen the movie I was referencing! Which, wild!!! but lovely, I was so thrilled. So I did a fake movie poster. I looked at one of the original ones, but quickly went off the rails for it lmao. Don’t hold me to it but I’d also write this if I got the spoons for it.

I struggled a little bit in places with this one, but I really like big parts of it. I still hate drawing animals, but painting was really fun. And writing the story in my head was also fun (I have two versions of it). i didn’t have the mental space to think of a title that wasn’t just the movie’s title, but even if I had, I probably would’ve left it like this for the zine specifically to get the point across.

I do actually have the cast figured out like 99%, because the movie is actually pretty small in terms of characters that are necessary. I struggled for a bit, waffling between choices and not knowing who to put as one, but Angeal solved that latter problem and I figured it out in the end. Thus, the poster with so many characters lmao.

(listen, okay. L I S T E N. The male romance lead, Navarre, is a blond soldier with a special giant sword who wears black, has one pauldron, and transforms into a wolf. That’s such a perfect opportunity for Cloud I don’t know what to tell you. And of course, his romance counterpart had to serve my ship specifically because I’m writing this whole thing in my head, I get to have the counterpart be Genesis. Which doesn’t not work, it’s just also self-indulgent.)

(One of them is trans in my AU but I’m not elaborating further yet.)

But yeah anyway I had a good time, I’m sad that the zine project has to be canceled but I’m grateful for having someone else be like “heck yeah Ladyhawke au!”
