Tomorrow will be two months without you…
I just wanted you to know, I don’t let many people fully know me… and you knew me. You were there making memories with me for the entirety of my life. And the number of memories I recall about my life will continue to grow as I make more of them, but they will all be missing a big aspect of my life… and I will always find myself missing you.
You were my peace. I felt secure, loved, seen, heard, valued, and understood when your presence was in the same room with me. Now I feel lost and broken knowing youve left this world… Simply put, I lost my peace when we all lost you. I think of this very often and I oh so wholeheartedly hope that thru this experience, you’ve been able to find yours. Love you so much friend, and I miss you with all that I have.
I spent the rest of the day making distractions. Cleaning the pantry, washing my clothes, organizing the shoe rack, mopping the floors, buying things I don’t need off of Amazon, watching mindless movies… going thru the junk mail even. And now I sit here after staying up so late, and your memory still caught me. Still found me in my one moment of relaxation. Still made me realize how much lighter and brighter to me the world felt, how much easier it was to laugh when you were rotating on the same earth with me and not flying amongst the stars.

I just hope some very credible source accurately and painstakingly records everything that happens this year, because future archaeologists and historians will have an extremely difficult time believing anything recovered circa 2020. And in no way, should they exclaim anything utilized during the year 2020 was utilized as some form of ritualistic purpose.

No offence but you know what's really weird about America? You've got hardly any history past a couple of centuries. No medieval castles, no Roman walls, no bronze age settlement sites. Is there even anything for archeologists to dig for?
People have been here for quite some time, they’ve only been white for 500 years

Seeking forever, in a dying ecosystem.
Trying to locate stability, while tipping on a cracked foundation.
Attempting to stay lost, in a place of make believe;
Where all things are kind and everyone is free.
But as I turn the page to read ahead, there’s less of a story to perceive.
And as more pages turn, the faster I peruse;
I’m searching for forever, knowing I’ll have to lose.
For the book’s already written and it’s story must conclude.
Even in fiction, things come to an end too soon.
I misplace myself in books, to omit the truth from which I used solace to hide away.
Though sometimes, sadness seems to only want to stay.
Letting my tears mix with the words on the page, this love for reading I swear it won’t fade.
The newspaper’s ink, wiped onto my sleeve, there’s still no place that I’d rather be.

How can we watch, standing idly by, while humans are being sprayed by fire hoses, tear gassed, and even killed in the streets when all they dared to do was exist?
Why are civil rights activists met with such enmity?
How can we love our neighbor when our neighbor hates us?
How can we remain silent when a person’s right to speak is taken away?
How can we take a back seat to freedom when humans before us risked their lives to sit in the front?
How can we continue down the path to equality, which those before have already started to pave, when so many others keep chipping away at the progress?
