BRITISH ROYALS X BALLET ASSOCIATIONS🎭
(Spoiler: very predictable. Possible repetitions)
Part 1/X
Princess Diana: Odette (Swan Lake. Performed by Uliana Lopatkina, Mariinsky theatre)
Odette in my opinion is one of the most majestic and tender of existing ballet roles. It requires technique and enormous control to perform this particular scene.
“Dying Swan” captures Diana’s personality perfectly:
She was tender and kind
She was shy
She faced hardships and struggled a lot
Her death was premature and unjust. And it brings me to tears every time I remember it.
Lopatkina’s performance is superb, as her gestures and posture create a sad picture of a dying girl refusing to believe it’s the end. It’s the best coordination of hand gestures I’ve ever seen in this part.
Pas de bourres suivi imitates swan’s movements. Like Diana, Odette is trembling. She is frightened.
At the end the swan accepts her fate and closes her eyes forever. And just like Princess Diana’s death, the death of the swan is heartbreaking.

Propaganda
Veronica Lake (I Married a Witch, Sullivan's Travels)—her look is so iconic they used her as a visual model for jessica rabbit in who framed roger rabbit and a bunch of other femme fatale types in cartoons and live action alike. i didnt think i liked women and then i saw her in sullivans travels and said gee i hope this doesnt awaken anything in me! every role ive seen her in she absolutely oozes an aura of "i know people would ask me to step on them" and her EYES bro every photo ive looked at for this submission its like shes piercing thru time and space to judge me <3
Eartha Kitt (Anna Lucasta, St. Louis Blues)—My friend and I have a saying: NOBODY is Eartha Kitt. A thousand have tried, and they've all come up empty and will continue to do so. Everyone knows her for something: from "Santa Baby" to Yzma in Emperor's New Groove to Catwoman to making Lady Bird Johnson cry for the Vietnam War. She was a master of comedy and sex, an extremely vocal activist, and she aged like fine wine... I honestly don't know what I can say about her that hasn't already been said, so I'll stick to linking all my propaganda. Like what else do you want from me. She was iconic at everything she ever did. Literally name another. How can anyone even think of her and not want to absolutely drown?
This is round 5 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Veronica Lake:
Her HAIR, her FIGURE, her VOICE, the way she wore LEATHER AND SANG SONGS FOR NO REASON.
I don't believe there's a person on earth who can watch Veronica Lake in I Married A Witch and not be struck by how gorgeous she is. She had that youthful wonder about her that almost every Hollywood starlet was trying to achieve. Her hairstyle (peekaboo bangs) became an iconic Hollywood style after she popularized it, and made her signature look all the more suggestive. Also, witches are tumblrs favorite!
ICONIC hair sweep
The US government literally begged her to change her hairstyle because it was TOO HOT to handle and women who copied it were getting their hair caught in machinery
Her hairstyle was so iconic and popular that the war department had to come out with a PSA instructing lady ironworkers with ways they could pin their hair up to avoid it getting bound in machinery. [https://veteranlife.com/military-history/veronica-lake/]
She played a lot of femme fatale roles but my favorite is Sullivan’s Travels opposite Joel McRea, which is a comedy. She became famous for her hair style at the time—she wore it long and parted on one side so it would fall over half her face in a very sexy way. They called it a peek-a-boo I think. You’ve definitely seen Bugs Bunny dressed up like her, so I think if she’s being honored in such a way she’s very cool.
look at her
she's GORGEOUS in her little witch outfits that she wore for promos and also in the oversized coats and pajamas she wore throughout the movie...she's got RANGE
My Grandpa supposedly dated her in high school, he drove her to school in his car every day. This is legend in the family.
She has gorgeous hair, has got the smouldering look over the shoulder down PAT, and is just drop-dead gorgeous too!
Schizophrenic icon, popularized the peekaboo hairdo long before Jessica Rabbit
She’s just so prettyyyyy
So much hot in such a tiny package. She was no more than 5 feet tall, and some reports claim as small as 4'9"
If you picture a femme fatale in your head, almost certainly Veronica Lake had a hand in shaping the image you think of. She came to embody the look of the noir leading lady as well as the sound and the performance. Certified Noir Baddie.
Eartha Kitt:
"A hot vintage woman who was not just known for her voice, beauty, poise, and presence, but also her unapologetic ways of speaking about how she was mistreated in the show business as a girl who grew up on cotton fields in South Carolina in the 1930s through the 1940s coming to Broadway first and then Hollywood."
"Have you watched her sing?? Have you seen her face?? Have you heard her talk?? How could you not fall instantly in love. She makes me incoherent with how hot she is."
"She can ACT she can SING she can speak FOUR LANGUAGES she is a GODDESS!!! Although she is (rightfully) remembered for her singing, TV appearances (Catwoman my beloved), and later film roles, her early appearances in film are no less impressive or noteworthy!! She’s an amazing actress with so much charisma in every role. She was also blacklisted from Hollywood for 10 years for criticizing the Johnson administration/Vietnam War, so. Iconic. Also Orson Welles apparently called her “the most exciting woman in the world.”
"She had such a stunning, remarkable appearance, like she could tear you to shreds with just a glance- but the most undeniable part of her hotness was her voice, and it makes sense that it's what most people nowadays know her for. Nothing encapsulates the sheer magnetism of her singing better than this clip of her and Nat King Cole in St. Louis Blues, she pops in at 2:49. Also I know it's post-1970 but her song that was cut from Emperor's New Groove is likely to make you feel Feelings."
Even with as racist as Hollywood was in the 1950s and 60s, Eartha Kitt STILL managed to have a thriving career. She also once had a threesome with Paul Newman and James Dean, and called out LBJ over the Vietnam War so hard that it made First Lady Johnson cry. Eartha Kitt was talented, sexy, and a total badass activist.

hi! i recently subscribed to the pateron, and im a little intimidated by all of the extra content available, lol. in your opinion, what are some of the funniest short rest / dungeon court / mixed bag episodes to start with? (if anyone else also has their fave eps to share please do)
oh wonderful! welcome to the best stupid show(s) money can buy.
i’m gonna operate under the assumption you’re caught up on main feed eps but if i suggest a short rest for an episode you haven’t listened to, definitely hit the episode first.
these are just off the top of my head with ones i can remember what they are, i may come up with more later lol
short rests:
i think short rests 99 and 100 should actually be required listening for everyone, they’re fucking earth shattering. start there.
the one for 70 is stupid and reveals how they almost lost the episode so that’s a good one.
c3e22 has one of the most insane short rests in retrospect. and c3e41 also has a bonkers short rest. they talk about santa manscaping in your bathroom. the episode came out in august. i wept.
c2e41’s campaign wrap up short rest also is a good time and gives good insights on the campaign.
the short rest for the can they kill it is the origin of crabster. 77 has a rose before noon. 91 ends with jake saying something so insane it ruins me.
the short rest for caldwells frooze your own adventure also slaps. the wilson brothers are there.
the brussels hookup is another 8bbc short rest that’s so dumb and beautiful.
c3e54 has them all hyped up on too much caffeine after a mixed bag and talking about jumping off decks onto frozen lakes and landing on one boob and one butt cheek. i wish i was kidding. it’s incredible.
dungeon courts:
i’m mostly gonna highlight patreon dungeon courts with the assumption you’ve listened to the corresponding main feed eps.
king robert can klump ft. ally beardsley. the flintstones costume fun around the house. you don’t know what that means but it’s. something.
a little place called mangia’s. murph breaks down. caldwell loses it. jake turns to google.
yuncle ft. jasper william cartwright. rats ride loose and your yuncle is power hungry.
the video dungeon courts are great, you can see murph lose it.
bird jail ft. zac oyama. actually anything with zac oyama. it’s great.
table rattlers ft. jeremy cobb. i don’t remember what happens exactly but it’s great.
the dm’s judge ft. lou wilson and zac oyama. absolutely iconic bench on this one.
mixed bags:
mixed bag tier my beloved!! so many are so good!
the whole blazing babe chronicles. not enough people know there was a second hot boy summer campaign that’s available on the mixed bag. caldwell spills half a corona on his character sheet. it’s a dry july and the boys are Not on the same page about it. love is love is love returns.
the biggest loreser is new but damn if it isn’t impeccable. warning: the fred flintstone noise is fucking LOUD
all the taste tests (energy drinks, m&ms, and gamer energy drinks). jake tries an expired products. jake later forgets to buy peanut m&ms while emily decides she can taste what color an m&m is. murph gets hyped on caffeine and has to take a break resulting in one of the most insane short rests to date. listen to the short rest first, it’s funnier that way.
if you can listen to live shows, (the sound is sometimes challenging) i recommend those. great starting point is the melbourne one from last year, i laughed so much the first time i heard it. “i was a lurking actor. that’s a union job!” also the boston dungeon court did hit the main feed but started as a mixed bag and i was there so i want to shout it out.
emily’s winter solstice one shot!! brennan and siobhan are there and it’s creepy and truly so fun.
both dungeons and dragons movies. jake and emily gaslight murph. they talk about a truly terrible set of films. there’s someone called grape lady that is a highlight.
both spilltaculars. at times a bit cringe, but it’s fun to hear other people’s failures sometimes because then you feel better about yourself. plus they make up a judgement scale that is different every time.
spellcheck! the game show that’s kinda sweeping the nation. or was. it’s fun.
that’s long (oops) and all i can think of off the top of my head. if people have other faves, share them for new patreon people!
also, my last bit of advice is to join the streams if you can. jake’s stream is for the short rest tier and above and caldwells is for the mixed bag tier and above. they’re wild. we had caldwell drawing everyone in crocs for like 6 months (it’s arguably why we’re getting the jibbitz). sometimes you get tucker lore. (tucker, the fictional man jake’s wife is cucking him with.) they’re grand.

Friday the 13th 2009
so in the honour of keeping the tradition going, I'm watching Friday the 13th on this Friday the 13th (of course, the Jared Padalecki one). And i thought why not do a quick review/commentary
Jason's mother looks nothing like Whitney
speaking of, I see Amanda Righetti and all I can think of is Grace Van Pelt from The Mentalist
Whitney's humidity frizzy hair is so real
is that you Josh Kaminski from Young & Hungry?
i forgot slashers came with a side of unnecessary porno
Bear trap and burnt alive, so far the fun deaths!
Oh my gosh Jared looks so delicious 🤤
Trent, you loser!
Clay is similar to Sam. I'll elaborate on this. He is sweet but determined. Not afraid to take a stand against bullies. Certainly caring and gentle. And yet he doesn't feel entirely like Sam. Probably the one main differentiating factor would be Clay is missing Sam's depth and softness
Did they not realise what it would do to us Jared girls seeing him on a motorcycle?!
Jared is so tall he even drawfs a motorcycle!!! And there goes a joke at his height. "Stretch"
No, seriously why is everyone a dick to Clay? First the gas owner, Loser Trent, the old lady and even the wood chipper guy
i usually don't pay attention to men's wardrobe that much but damn whoever decided to put Jared in that tit tight tee is my hero!
oh Loser Trent you don't wanna mess with that specimen. He will kill you, you idiot!
i do love that scene where they reveal how Jason got his iconic hockey mask
That knife holster hanging on Jared's hip is sexy!
ewwwww did the Asian guy really drink booze out of his shoe?!!
I get why they cast Amanda. She is scream queen
so Loser Trent and friends don't care that 3 of their friends didn't return? And his gf left with a random stranger he had beef with?
Jenna's friends are idiots with zero survival instincts
I'm not mad that Loser Trent died
family reunion!
poor Jenna! She deserved to live
oh no! Jason got Clay! Owww that must hurt
Whitney is a badass too! I like that. I like that a lot
Go Clay! I love how he bear trapped him, strangled with the chain and then Whitney shoved it into the wood chipper
Jason, say hi to mommy. In hell 👏👏👏👏 best dialogue
That anti dramatic kick at the mask
why won't he die?!
Overall, i do like this movie. It has a nice premise and a decent storytelling. I could have done without a lot of nudity that wasn't needed. I mean I don't need every female actress flashing her boobs on screen. I do like the effort that went into setting background for the characters. The open ended ending is a nice touch. Some of the scenes were really well done like Jason wearing the mask for the first time, the picturesque scenes of the lakes are really pretty. The shot where Clay's face is inches away from the wood chipper. The last scene of Jason sinking to the bottom of the lake followed by his mask was great. The movie has good jump scares and dialogues are not as awful as some of the slashers tend to have. And the best part? Clay and Whitney live! Sort of! Open ended ending and all that..
Have you seen this movie? What are your thoughts? Do you like other Friday the 13th movies?

Broadway Divas Tournament: Semifinals
Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald (1970) holds the record for most Tony acting awards a person has ever won. She is one of five actors to be nominated across all four respective acting categories and the only person to win every one (and the only actress out of the three who is still living...). Her stage work includes: Ragtime (1998), Porgy and Bess (2012), and Lady Day at Emmerson's Bar and Grill (2014). Internationally acclaimed concert tours, Tony host, crown jewel of the American Stage. Grammy winner, Tony winner, Emmy winner. Get this woman an Oscar, stat. This is a BROADWAY Diva tournament, and it doesn't get much more BROADWAY than this.
Legend, icon, certified GILF Christine Baranski (1952) has a theatre resume a mile long. A two-time Tony winner, Christine has performed on and off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally in shows such as Mame at the Kennedy Center, the pre-Broadway workshop of Sunday in the Park with George, and the infamous flop that was Nick & Nora (1991). She can be seen alongside a slew of other Broadway Divas in HBO's The Gilded Age, and has also participated in at least ten Sondheim shows and concerts over the years. This is a Broadway DIVA tournament, and it doesn't get much more DIVA than this.
NEW PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT: ALL POLLS HERE
youtube
"Okay, so. I've seen Audra McDonald in concert three times, and each time has been a soul-ascending experience. She is *THE* Diva of Broadway in every single definition of the word. Most Tonys, tied for most nominations, critically acclaimed. I'm listening to "I Could Have Danced All Night" as I type this out, and the high note she just hit at the climax almost knocked me out of my seat. If you do not vote for Audra McDonald in this BROADWAY DIVA TOURNAMENT, what are you even doing here?"
youtube
"Did you know that Christine Baranski has a lakehouse in Connecticut, and she invites all her famous friends to go swimming "with or without" swimsuits? Cherry Jones is particularly fond of staying out on the lake all night long. If that's not icon diva behavior, what is? Christine may be a big screen star with some Emmys and whatnot, but she started on the stage, and she remembers her roots fondly. I long for the day when she comes back, if only for a special one-night-only extravaganza."

Tonantzin Guadalupe 🌵🌹
The original \/u| \//\ goddess I created in 2013 is Maria Rosa. Her design was inspired in major part between the miracle of La Virgen de Guadalupe and the concept of Mary Queen of Heaven.
I was recently commissioned to create a new (\/) Goddess inspired similarly between Guadalupe and Tonantzin by my chingona hermana Janet Bella Rosa who also knew Mi padrino Antonio 🙏 I felt his spirit guiding me to connect our visions! 💞
Tonantzin is an enduring Nahuatl title for the maternal aspect of any Aztec goddess, much like “Our Lady”, rather than the name of a particular goddess. I chose a blue background to parallel Her starry mantle of heaven and also represent Lake Texcoco since the eagle, snake, and cactus from its story of the founding of ancient Mexico there are present. 💙🌵
Tonantzin in various forms is frequently depicted with eagle feet so I thought it appropriate to have the legendary golden eagle clutch the silvery moon below Her in place of Guadalupe’s cherub 🦅 🌙 Tonantzin is often known, by many names, to wear a skirt of snakes- the celestial Aztec earth mother Coatlicue’s particular name translates to “She of Snake Skirts”. So I couldn’t help but see the snake emerge from the opening in Her folds here. Frequently in Aztec art snakes emerging from or replacing body parts represents blood so I feel a menstrual element from how the snake manifested in this vision 🐍 🩸
Many believe that the apparition of La Virgen de Guadalupe on Tepeyac Hill unto St. Juan Diego, an Indigenous peasant originally named Cuauhtlatoatzin meaning “Talking Eagle”, was a vision of a new form of Tonantzin. Her local temple had formerly been on that very site, destroyed by conquistadors. When Cuauhtlatoatzin received these holy visions, the Goddess spoke to him not in Spanish but in his native Nahuatl language even though She identified Herself as The Virgin Mother of God. Even the Church documents testify that The Holy Mother assured him in his moment of doubt, in his Indigenous tongue, “Am I not here who am your Mother?” Indeed Tonantzin Coatlicue herself is said to have had her own divine conception via a feather 🪶
The miraculous vision of Guadalupe that appeared upon Juan Diego/Talking Eagle’s tilma is often seen as a self portrait by Her and there are many analyses of the visual element’s encoding of Aztec symbolism. I took these theories and insights into consideration while creating this vision.
Even within the suppression of Spanish colonization ancient indigenous Mexican Curanderismo healing practices were able to persevere and often in the name of La Virgen de Guadalupe, under the protection of Her image.
Choose-your-goddess prints now include Tonantzin Guadalupe!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
“At home, on the evening of December 12th we may light a candle and place offerings of flowers, copal and chocolate in front of her statue or painting. In the public square, those who follow the Mexica spiritual tradition will join brothers and sisters for an all-night vigil of prayer, Danza, offerings, and songs to her, who is Tonantzin Tlalli Coatlicue, who was always honored at the hill of Tepeyac. As we salute the Four Winds and dance in the ceremonial circle, we honor those who have gone before us, the courageous people who kept traditions alive through the centuries despite the threat to their life if discovered. The feathers in the copilli, the ceremonial headdress worn by the dancers, will draw down the energy of the cosmos into Mother Earth, our beautiful Tonantzin Tlalli Coatlicue to help her heal from the many ways she is dishonored.
Nearby, children will play and laugh, faces smeared with the traces of candy and the cinnamon of churros, the delicious deep fried pastry covered with sugar and cinnamon while the sound of mariachi music adds to the feeling of a fusion of cultures and beliefs. If you wander the crowded street you will see a handful of Catholic pilgrims on their knees on the hard pavement slowly make their way to the entrance of the church in gratitude for answered prayers.
And, in spite of quiet official church disapproval, the local parish priest will invite Indigenous ceremonial dancers to participate during the special December 11-12 mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Inside the church, for a few moments, Mayan copal will blend with European frankincense, quetzal feathers will dance on the air, and elders with bundles of aromatic rosemary plants will cleanse the People’s spirit. The two cultures, reconciled at this moment, acknowledge their bond of love for the Woman Who is Cloaked with the Sun; a bridge of Light between peoples.”

It was @forlorn-crows birthday like a month ago!! And I fuckin missed it! Jail for Liss. Jail for 1000 years. Better late than never, I guess. Crow is easily one of my favorite ghoul writers and I threw together a greatest hits rec list for the occasion! They are the mastermind behind Mushy May and the verrrry iconic Lake Wife™. On top of being incredibly talented, Crow is always so lovely and kind and supportive of their fellow creatives. Wouldn't it be a lovely (belated) bday gift if you left some comments/kudos on some of these? Maybe even stop by Crow's ko-fi while you're at it!
Lady of the Lake - Rain/Lake Wife™ - E, 11.6k
With all the dark magick flowing through the abbey, he wouldn’t be surprised if some of it leached into the surrounding area. Mountain’s told him all about the various creatures he’s seen on the edges of the forest: dark, shadowy things that live in the corners of one’s vision, flitting between downed trees and swaying ferns. They’re relatively peaceful entities that don’t seem to bother ghouls, humans, or other animals much. But their presence certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed. That same looming magick resides at the bottom of the lake. Something deep and ominous. Something big. Rain can’t make head nor tail of the sentient something that must live down there. He’s felt it most recently in the new beginnings of spring: big waves of living energy reaching out to him, calling to something buried deep in his ribcage. A creature reaching out to their kin. He supposes it could be a byproduct of the changing seasons, the rush of life seeping through the cracks in the thawing ice. But the feeling in his gut tells him it’s something more than that.
First and Fierce Affirming Sight - Mountain & Copia - G, 1.1k
Once in a blue moon he’ll retreat deep into the forest beyond the abbey to give himself a break from his mortal-like form, let that great maw of elemental power unleash and drain itself into the ether. Just once in a great while, to be fully released. Other times, it sneaks up on him like a cloud of darkness, pulling him under slowly. It gives him enough time to stifle it or manage it. If there’s warning signs, there’s time to keep it at bay. But times like these, it comes in the blink of an eye—like a flash of lightning in the middle of the inky-black sky.
Quicksilver - Dewdrop/Rain - T, 1.8k
Sunshine finally gets to braid Dewdrop's hair, but it gives him and Rain ~feelings~. (you have to read the sequel, too.)
And You Know That It Takes Two - Copia/Dewdrop - E, 3.7k
“Well, I do. Of course I do,” he assures the ghoul. “Quite fond of you all, actually. It was, admittedly, a little rocky when we first met. But.” There’s that heh Dew was expecting just moments before. “Here we are, no?” When Copia starts rubbing his thumb up and down the inside of his knee, Dew’s brain stops working. His gaze zeros in to the fingers splayed across the side of his thigh, so foreign, so bare, so pink against the black of his casual uniform pants. His mind is full of static and all he can hear is his own blood pumping through his head. But there’s a weird something tugging in his ribcage; something new yet old, unnamed but familiar.
and so it goes - Mountain/Rain - E, 1.6k
Rain hums the melody where the piano would play, glancing down at the ghoul curled around him. His shoulders start to shake, and he sniffles into the water ghoul’s shirt—attempting, but failing, to be silent about his tears. Rain stops. “Mountain, love, what’s wrong?” Immediately he shakes his head at the question, whining quietly. “Hey,” Rain urges, petting back his hair. “I’m here for you, can you try to tell me?” Hurts, Mountain pushes into his mind. “Where does it hurt?” Rain asks gently. The earth ghoul pulls back an arm from around his waist, gesturing to his own chest. Rain can see his face screw up, a silent prayer to stop the oncoming sob that threatens to work its way out of his throat. In here, he says. He points weakly to the side of his head too. And here.
Pull Me In Your Waters - Dewdrop/Mist - E, 4.8k
He’s such an innocent, carefree creature—one that has Mist’s fingers itching to touch, to ruin, to defile. Like he’s a mere mortal waiting to be drawn in by her hellish siren’s call. But there’s a budding affection underneath that, too. Call it kin, call it an elemental draw to each other, call it even a mentor-like protection over the fledgling ghoul. Beyond the lust there’s respect, admiration. An urge to simply get to know and raise the ghoul who’s set to take her place. She can’t deny there’s some weird, mothering nature buried deep within the confines of her stoney nature. But it is deep, and right now it’s very much shrouded behind a curtain of curiosity, of hunger.
Compromise - Aeon/Mountain - E, 2.9k
He and Aeon haven’t talked, not really, about where they stand with each other. There hasn’t been time, especially not when he’s constantly plastered to Rain and Swiss’ sides instead. Mountain understands. He does. But the longing for familiarity was too hard to ignore tonight, tugging him to Aeon’s room after a sour night at a local dive bar. or Mountain misses Aether. Who he has is Aeon.
Weigh Your Powers, Tempt The Hours - Aether/Ifrit - E, 2.3k
“You’re so pretty like this, you know that?” Ifrit blushes under his adoring gaze. His shaggy hair falls across his face as he ducks to hide. But Aether’s having none of it, reaching out to guide his head back up with a gentle hand on his chin. “You trust me, right?” “Of course I do. I want—” Ifrit pauses and takes a shaky breath. “Want to be good for you,” he finishes in a small voice, just barely above a whisper. “You’re always good for me, Fritter.” The quintessence ghoul runs the pad of his thumb across the point of his jaw. His voice slips to a lower timbre, slow and rhythmic. “You want to feel good too, don’t you?” Ifrit’s eyes slip closed, body relaxing ever so slightly. “Yeah,” he answers simply, forming the word on his exhale like an unholy confession. “You will. I’ll make sure of it.”

Merlin rewatch -- S2E9: The Lady of the Lake
So, it's not nice to gaslight your friend/master to think they have memory loss or they need to cut food consumption to keep shape, but the whole food saga was so stupid and hilarious I don't even mind lol.
It doesn't make sense that Merlin didn't steal directly from the kitchen and that Arthur's food wasn't delivered by Merlin. But I like to headcanon that Merlin made the move in Arthur's chamber because Arthur might let him get away with it. Love all the fics where Arthur knowingly let Merlin nicked food from his plate~
Poor Arthur was denied food all day lol. (And was told that he needed to lose weight the whole day…) I just love how Bradley delivered Arthur’s indignant statements <3 Iconic. The pause between “I’m not” and “fat!” was genius.
And Merlin just kept going. Gaslighting masterclass, really. Stay confident and people either buy into it or too dumbfounded to argue.
Gwen was so confused lol. It’s good that Merlin had that innocent face. He never knocked before entering a lady’s room (or he knocked but didn’t wait); he had been caught spying on Catrina; he stole Arthur’s food in front of his eyes and now he was stealing Morgana’s clothes. And still Arthur and Gwen had such trust in him.

Round 1, Side B - Lancelot (Arthuriana) vs. Hup (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)
Propaganda:
Lancelot (Arthuriana)
Iconic figure in arthurian mythos, and a strong influence on the "knight in shining armor" character archetype that we know and love today. While his exact lore varies a lot, some key details are that he was brought up in Arthur's court by the Lady of the Lake as the perfect example of chivalry, was one of the knights of the Round Table, and was the father of Galahad. His name is also really fun to say but that's just my opinion. He did have an affair with the king's wife Guinevere that led to the downfall of the knights of the Round Table, though.
Hup (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)
He fights evil with a spoon as his main weapon. His friendship with Deet is wholesome af and he stood up to SkekMal, one of the most terrifying physical threats in the whole series, to keep Deet and her friends safe. Short king in every way.

Marie Bryant (The Duke Is Tops, Jammin' the Blues)—one of many many many talented Black dancers & performers who deserved better roles! I'm including this video of her singing and dancing because I think it's the cutest thing ever and her smile could light up the sun [video below the cut]
Veronica Lake (I Married a Witch, Sullivan's Travels)—her look is so iconic they used her as a visual model for jessica rabbit in who framed roger rabbit and a bunch of other femme fatale types in cartoons and live action alike. i didnt think i liked women and then i saw her in sullivans travels and said gee i hope this doesnt awaken anything in me! every role ive seen her in she absolutely oozes an aura of "i know people would ask me to step on them" and her EYES bro every photo ive looked at for this submission its like shes piercing thru time and space to judge me <3
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut]
Marie Bryant:
youtube

I just heard that Merlin and Freya's ship name is merya. MERYA???? Y'ALL ARE SLEEPING ON FREYALIN.
Freya is a goddess and Merlin is literally the god of magic. She's the lady of the lake and he's the kind of the druids. He is magic itself and she's quite literally a SHAPESHIFTER. (I know it's a curse but it's still pretty badass)
And y'all call this iconic duo MERYA???? shame.

My first (but not last, it’s too much fun and too fitting with S5 Ocean coming up!) Mermay offering! I’m actually a little proud of this, because I really didn’t think I could make this work, this is a HIGH difficulty drawing!
Angsty half-baked rayllum idea behind this was she failed to kill Viren and avenge her parents and was instead cursed to be a mermaid, perpetually pulled to the bottom of the magic lake she’s trapped in (she still hates water, rip). So fighting against the pull, she makes her way to the surface, and hands her sword, her unfinished quest, to a human boy, before disappearing back beneath the waves…
Loosely based on the iconic imagery of the myth of Excalibur. The Lady of the Lake is canonically into wizards, just saying…
